Greetings,
Earlier this month Light of Christ Community Church celebrated its 29th annual Homecoming and Conference. It was a week full of reconnecting, sharing, ceremonies and celebrations. Some of the highlights of the week are in this newsletter, including the official announcement of the seminary's new dean. Usually by late November, all class offerings are completed, but this year we have a special retreat scheduled in December. Come, expand your state of consciousness by participating in The Monroe Institute's Intensive Weekend Workshop. At this time of Thanksgiving, we are grateful to all those who, in their many ways, support Sancta Sophia Seminary. We thank you for sharing your time, talent, and resources. Heartfelt blessings go out especially to our students, staff, teachers, advisors, mentors, and all co-workers, seen and unseen. Infinite gratitude, Amy Upperman, Editor Sancta Sophia Seminary NewsSSSnews@sanctasophia.org

NEW DEAN ANNOUNCED AT LCCC'S 29TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The Board of Trustees of Light of Christ Community Church and the Board of Governors of Sancta Sophia Seminary are very pleased to announce the selection of the Rev. Dr. Susan C. Hamilton as the newly appointed Dean of Sancta Sophia. Dr. Hamilton has a rich and diverse background of experience that uniquely qualifies her to move Sancta Sophia forward into the future while still retaining the vital essence of the ageless wisdom anchored in its curriculum.
Susan began her formal education with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. After her mother, Dr. Betty Carper, moved to Sparrow Hawk Village, Susan visited the village many times and was guided to begin studies at Sancta Sophia. She was ordained through Light of Christ Community Church in 1992.
Three years later, as a member of the International Council of Community Churches, Rev. Hamilton was called to pastoral ministry by Parkside Community Church - UCC. For fifteen years she has served that congregation with creative worship and educational leadership. Realizing the need to bridge traditional Christianity with interfaith and esoteric perspectives received at Sancta Sophia, she completed a Masters of Divinity at San Francisco Theological Seminary, in 1999. That same year, the United Church of Christ granted her full ministerial standing.
Dedication to enthusiastic, insightful, and dynamic teaching as a means of nurturing a soul's spiritual journey in life eventually lead Dr. Hamilton to attain a Doctorate of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary. Reflecting her deep-rooted esoteric interests, her Doctoral dissertation was titled, "Seeking Sophia - Discovering the Holy Feminine."
Dr. Susan Hamilton begins her tenure as Sancta Sophia Dean on February 1, 2011. She and her husband, Rev. Mark Throckmorton, Executive Director of MANALIVE-Sacramento, Inc., will soon move to Sparrow Hawk Village.
Everyone at Sancta Sophia and LCCC welcomes Dr. Hamilton and is committed to working with her to preserve the esoteric mission of this Wisdom School as it steps into its future of service to humanity.

Using Money as an Instrument of Service By Joann S. Bakula Source: The Esoteric Quarterly - Volume 5, Number 2. Summer 2009
In times of economic and financial crises, with widespread unemployment and fear, a review of how we look at money, how we use it, and how we make it can provide useful clarification. Such a review would include how to use money in service and the philosophy behind our use. Through meditation, reading, and applying our esoteric knowledge we can build a thoughtform that counters the fear currently paralyzing the world. We can adhere to a philosophy of abundance instead of scarcity, or hope instead of fear. Read more
