Greetings,
The month of October holds many treats at Light of Christ Community Church. As the weather gets cooler, the dichotomy of autumn (our fall vegetable crop of kale and lettuce and other cool weather plants sprouting new green growth, while tree leaves are turning beautiful colors and dying) once again visits the mountain.
The biggest treat this month comes in the guise of wonderful Light of Christ Community Church Practitioners presenting their ideas on the platform as they prepare for Ordination. LCCC is proud to nurture and help develop future spiritual leaders as they complete a variety of programs through its educational institution, Sancta Sophia. Outstanding medical schools across the country have partner hospitals which are often called "teaching hospitals." LCCC is a type of "teaching church," and frequently Practitioners in the Ordination program are on the platform officiating and giving Sunday talks. What a blessing for us to hear their wisdom! As you read through the highlights below, notice the fine insights these students will share.
News Note from the International Council of Community Churches, which is LCCC's ordaining organization: Rev. Michael Livingston leaves after eleven years as Executive Director to begin work as Director of the Poverty Initiative of the National Council of Churches. In this ministry he will work among the 36 member communions of the NCC, including the ICCC, to reduce domestic poverty in the US by half in the next decade. We wish him the best as he participates in this important work.
Two new Thursday evening features this month in our sanctuary are "Roberta Wilkes' Music Hour" on October 14th, and a "Toning Healing Circle" on the third Thursday, the 21st. Both of these experiential events are open to all and foster deep relaxation and a sense of wellness. See the left column for more information.
October 16th is the last Spiritual Arts Event in 2010, where our doors open wide to the public as students and villagers demonstrate their intuitive abilities. These events are both fun and insightful; join us if you can!
And before you know it, the LCCC Homecoming and Conference will be here! Our Special Guest Presenter is Sren Hauge, Ph.D. He challenges us with these timely questions:
-
How can we create the group-heart, the group-mind and the group-body of the future?
-
How can we together build the Chalice of the Higher We and embody planetary, enlightened compassion?
This is our focus and we will explore it through teaching, meditation and group-dynamics. Homecoming events are open to all, and the cost for these two days, Nov. 12 and 13 is $125 (included in the Minister and Practitioner fees.)
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sunday, October 3, 10:30 a.m. Feast of St. Francis Sunday
"Are We Ready for the Next Step?" Practitioner Mary Mendoza
Throughout history mankind has faced turbulent change. As we evolve, the opportunities for growth escalate. Scripture supports the fact that we have the tools needed to take us forward. We take a few minutes to ask ourselves if we are ready to follow the path of Jesus the Christ. Are we ready to promote unity and embrace our global family?

"Sharing Experience, Strength, and Hope" Practitioner Loretta West
There is a saying I have seen on a refrigerator magnet that says, "A burden shared is a burden lessened, and joy shared is joy multiplied." When we share our experience, strength, and hope all are enlivened and enlightened. Connection is engendered, and growth is possible. Please come and share this experience with all who choose to attend.

Come, Walk in Beauty. Seekers of God join us today to experience the vibration of the Christ as we expand our awareness and open up to the many signs and symbols that serve as guideposts on the narrow path. Learn how Love-Peace-Joy became a universal map in the quest towards uniting with God.

"All Hallows' Eve, All Saints', All Souls'...Oh My!" Rev. Retha Banez
At this time of year when the separation between the world of the living and the dead is thin, Pastor Retha Banez invites you to explore with her the symbolism and explanation of All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day. Do you know the traditions behind these successive days in our calendar year? Let's take this journey together...and who knows...we may find a treat along the way!

The Celestial Hierarchy of Libra
The Celestial Hierarchy of Libra rules from Sept. 22 to Oct. 23. Under the influence of the Lords of Individuality, as this Hierarchy is known, each individual struggles to adjust to his/her own uniqueness. The Lords of Individuality encourage us to see our planet as unique and beautiful. Venus rules the influence flowing earthward through Libra, so harmony and beauty are of paramount importance. Every kingdom of nature is beautiful in its own way. The Lords support each spark of God-Consciousness, encouraging each to be the best it can be, and to know that all others rejoice in each spark's full expression.
The Lords of Individuality empower every soul to stand at a point of decisiveness. Sooner or later we each reach a moment of choosing between one path leading to purity, goodness, and birthing the Christ-Within, or the other leading to the "fall," or lack of fulfilling the human potential. Today it seems humanity stands collectively at that edge of decision.
The statue of Justice depicts a blindfolded person holding the balance scales-the symbol of Libra. Swayed by neither preference nor prejudice, the wise one sees with clear inner vision the results of causation in succeeding cycles of rebirth. How very individual we are as we proceed on the path of learning through our selected experiences-and how very much alike we are as we see humanity struggle repeatedly with the same issues.

Sunday, November 7, 5:00 PM ORDINATON Light of Christ Community Church Sparrow Hawk Village, Tahlequah, OK - All are Welcome!
Monday - Sunday, November 8 - 14, 2010 29th ANNUAL HOMECOMING AND CONFERENCE
Friday & Saturday November 12 - 13 CONFERENCE PRESENTATION - open to all With Special Guest Presenter: Sren Hauge, Ph.D.
Friday, November 12 The Chalice of the Higher We In our evolution as sentient beings, we have been traveling through certain major experiences in the landscape of consciousness. Our journey has brought us from the instinctual-emotional phase to a more and more intellectual-rational stage. From isolated individualism we now seek to regain the connectedness without losing our uniqueness. This crucial phase, the struggle to attain the emerging nature of the new heart-mind group consciousness, is a major spiritual challenge of the 21st Century. How can we create the group-heart, the group-mind and the group-body of the future? How can we together build the Chalice of the Higher We and embody planetary, enlightened compassion? This is our focus and we will explore it through teaching, meditation and group-dynamics.
Saturday, November 13 The Wisdom of the Holotypes The teaching on the Holotypes is a new integral-esoteric approach to the psychology of The Seven Rays, known from theosophy, the teachings of Alice Ann Bailey and Roberto Assagioli, the founder of psychosynthesis. We will explore the spectrum of consciousness from this new approach, giving renewed understanding, but also practical application to insights that ultimately reveal our Soul Journey, our sacred dharma and the way we can live in the outer world. It is a joyful celebration of the multiplicity of the human nature, the spectrum of life and consciousness, and the need for integral wholeness in the world today. Meditation and group dynamics will be an important part of the teaching.
