Greetings,
Above the entrance to the temple of Delphi, the holiest shrine of ancient Greece, it was written, "Man, Know Thyself."
The exhortation to "know thyself" is often taken to require nothing more than a sort of intellectual examination of our personality. But in reality, real self-knowledge comes not from the mind, but from an experiencing of -and eventually a fusion with-our own complex spiritual system. The ancient Seers literary spent their whole lives in deep meditation, trying to unravel the form and function of this mysterious and subtle system. Many introspections ended up frustratingly fruitless and empty, but from the few who managed to achieve genuine enlightenment, we have gained an invaluable understanding of the subtle spiritual instrument, energy channels, and chakras.

There are many exciting opportunities and methods to get to know your self better in the coming weeks at Light of Christ Community Church.
On Labor Day weekend we take a Journey that is a Labor of Love as we seek to expand our ability to give impersonal love. The next Sunday, Grandparents Day, offers an exploration of relationships with children and grandchildren. Let's ascertain our true worth in this time of human evolution.
Who do we want to be when we grow up? How about someone who lives a fearless life? A psychologist will help us examine the transpersonal experience: From Anxiety to Fearlessness. And as we have examined our lives over the past weeks, the last Sunday of September, we finally have "grown up" to embrace joyously the New World Values unfolding within humanity as we move ever upward.
Sancta Sophia classes near the end of the month also highlight personal development. " Agni Yoga, the 21st Century Way" taught by Revs. Carol E. Parrish and Roberta Wilkes, offers insight into a living ethic and virtues in the personality based on a series of themes. The following weekend, Oct. 1-3rd, brings the fun and excitement of a " Shustah Training" workshop. Experience this popular divination tool with Carol Parrish and introduce others to these lovely cards.
Revs. Margaret Stephens, MA, and Brenda Cutrell, Ph.D, present information for students exploring the evolution of the psyche from its identity as personality to its identity as soul. All are invited to take (or retake) " Esoteric Psychology," Oct. 4-8th.

Blessings,

Sunday, September 5, 10:30 a.m. Labor Sunday
"The Labor of Love...A Journey" Rev. Pamela Ramsfield
As you take a break from the responsibilities and tasks of your daily life, join us this Labor Day Sunday as Rev. Pamela Reiss-Ramsfield looks at the history of Labor Day. We will explore the journey of growing/laboring from personal love to developing the Lots Of Vital Energy of impersonal L.O.V.E. Insights will focus on the labor required to expand our ability to give impersonal LOVE. Then we will look at the rewards and resting phases that this passage offers to the searching aspirant.

Sunday, September 12, 10:30 a.m. Grandparents Day Sunday
"Grandchildren, Man's Dilemma, & True Wealth" Rev. Robert Willson
Have you had the experience of unconditional love? Children and grandchildren often show us a fresh look at unconditional love. We contrast the innocence of children with our human dilemma of who we seem to be. We wonder what might be our true value. We will combine humor and wise thoughts to see what we can glean.

"From Anxiety to Fearlessness: A Transpersonal Experience" Rev. Helen Weiser
Anxiety is really a collection of fears that grow into anticipated fears. Learn from a deep level within yourself that there really is nothing to fear when we place ourselves in the hands of that great stream of God's unconditional love. We can transcend even courage and live fearlessly!

"New World Values" Rev. Retha Banez
These are exiting times at LCCC as we too are part of the larger movement toward New World Values. We honor the past and all we have learned individually and collectively. With growing excitement, we stand at the doorway of a brand new experience. Join us as we explore the new values unfolding within humanity as we move forward on our evolutionary path.

The Celestial Hierarchy of Virgo
The Celestial Hierarchy of Virgo rules from August 23 to September 23. Called the Lords of Wisdom, these holy ones help us learn to use the resources we discover as the heart opens. They encourage the mind to allow its abundant abilities to be guided by the heart, and to open to the feminine quality of "just knowing." We become wise, not just with the knowing of the rational mind, but by transmuting knowledge to wisdom.
This hierarchy introduces us to the symbols of wheat, stars, and the Madonna. Mystery teachings state that wheat is a gift to Earth from Venus. Symbolically, it promises that our needs will be met. The Madonna calls all of us to allow the tender mother to guide our minds, not just our hearts. When we experience the hierarchies of water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces), we become well aware of the emotionalism in a new kind of knowing. The mental make-up transforms into soul knowledge. The symbol of the virgin also reminds us of the process of self-sacrifice-giving all one has to offer-and the transformation, transmutation, and transfiguration one must undergo on the Path of Initiation.
The symbology of the celestial virgin, rich in meaning, conveys the idea that one has to give up one stage to move to a more mature one. The Divine Feminine guards and protects the child-like initiate. Virgos have visionary qualities that bring hope and expanded awareness.
