The Light of Christ Community Church, Inc. Board of Trustees has been busy planning and preparing for the future of the organization. Our first responsibility is to be responsive to the needs and expectations of the membership of LCCC and to assure the financial security of the organization.
With that in mind, we are taking this opportunity to update you on the status of some important items we have addressed, or that are currently in progress. - The Board of Trustees is committed to the continued development of a loving and beneficial relationship with the Founders. We recognize and acknowledge their many years of extraordinary sacrifice and dedicated service to Light of Christ Community Church, Sancta Sophia Seminary and Sparrow Hawk Village.
- Reverend Parrish-Harra, as the Dean Emeritus, has been engaged to continue writing and teaching, as well as archiving and repackaging her teachings for use by SSS and the many spiritual seekers for which Sparrow Hawk Village was built to serve. She will continue to serve as a mentor and provide historical reference information and institutional memory upon request and upon her availability.
- As many of you know Linda Oliver has been attempting to retire from work and her important volunteer efforts for some time. Linda resigned as a Trustee and as the Interim President for LCCC on June 30, 2010. She will now have time to enjoy her retirement! However, Linda has graciously agreed to continue to provide assistance as requested. LCCC offers warm and caring thanks for her many years of service.
- Helen Weiser was appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve as Interim President for the Board on July 1, 2010. She is willing to fill this role of service while the succession plan moves forward and the Board identifies and expands ways for membership participation. For those less familiar with the LCCC Board structure, currently five positions are appointed and two elected by the membership.
- Currently, there are seven members on the Board of Governors for SSS. These members are: Betty Carper, PhD., Rev. Mary Jane Dicus, Rev. Sue Van Dyke, Rev. Bonita Plymale, Rev. Retha Banez, Rev. Connie Swan, and Acting Dean, Rev. Helen Weiser. Rev. Brenda Cutrell, as the Program Director, serves in an advisory capacity.
- Rev. Marjorie Stuth has been awarded SSS Governor Emeritus status. We hope you will join us at annual conference this year to honor Marjorie for her many years of service to SSS.
- The LCCC Board of Trustees is currently assembling a Search Committee for a national effort to appoint the next Dean of Sancta Sophia Seminary. This process is meant to include an open and comprehensive recruitment for this very important role at LCCC/SSS. We will keep you updated on the progress. If you know of possible interested individuals, please be on the lookout for the open application announcement.
- We are being very conscious of the value of group work. There are several opportunities evolving for members of LCCC to participate in the future planning of the organization. Groups currently in development are: Abundance Program, Human Relations, SSS Advisory, LCCC Visioning, and Community Development. The Board of Trustees is accessible to members via the email address: LCCCBoard@sanctasophia.org. We welcome your interest in serving, and are eager to hear your questions, concerns and ideas.
- The Trustees are exploring and evaluating some creative funding alternatives to assure good stewardship of the organization. We look forward to sharing some of these concepts as they develop.
- Conference 2010 is quickly approaching and there is much to be done. The Trustees welcome your suggestions and participation. There are already several special events in the planning.
These are the highlights of matters that we have addressed, or are currently in progress. We look forward to communicating with the membership through this newsletter format to keep you informed of the happenings at LCCC. Please know that most items are a work in progress and will be evolving as new opportunities become apparent.
Assuring the practice and implementation of the LCCC tenets is our priority as each individual ponders and brings their guidance to the group for achieving abundance on all levels.
"May the Power of the One Life pour through the group of all true servers
May the Love of the One Soul characterize the lives of all who seek to aid the Great Ones
May I fulfill my part in the One Work through self-forgetfulness, harmlessness, and right speech."
Mantram of the New Group of World Servers, Alice A. Bailey
