Greetings,
July begins with gratitude for freedom, and appreciation for the things in life that really matter. LCCC devotes two Sundays in July to the sun and the moon and the stars beginning with the new moon of Cancer accompanied by a solar eclipse on July 11. The message that day will examine the "Mothering Principle" as it manifests through the astrological sign of Cancer. The meditation keynote for this New Moon is "I begin anew."
The Full Moon of Leo Service is scheduled two weeks later on Sunday morning, July 25, and the message is "Love Divine." At the full moon each month, it has been said a window opens in the heavens, and the great light of the Lord Christ pours forth a blessing upon humanity to those who are prepared.
In his latest book, The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism, Andrew Harvey relates the words of an old man sitting outside Rumi's tomb in Konya, Turkey. The beautiful poetic imagery reflects metaphors associated with the sign of Leo, and its planetary ruler, the Sun.
Divine Love begins by seducing you, by kissing you on the inside of your heart. That is how it hooks you. Then it feeds you with ecstasy and vision and revelation, drawing you deeper and deeper into a devouring longing to be one with it. When your longing is great enough and you are surrendered enough to it, Love changes into a black Lion and tears you limb from limb. Then, when you have been scattered to the four quarters of the universe and not a scrap of "you" remains and darkness reins, the Lion turns golden and roars, and "you" are reassembled, resurrected, and your whole being shines with the Glory of the Lion's own Light, the light of the Sun. (p.78)
Our meditation seed thoughts for Leo are, "Strive to manifest the law of Christ, which is Love" and "I am That, and That am I." If you are a student of astrology, you may be interested in classes and workshops scheduled for early August. Carol Parrish's weekend workshop on "Sabian Symbols" (July 30-Aug 1) utilizes the degrees on your natal chart to illuminate the personal symbols of your soul journey. Brenda Cutrell has a two-day "Review of the Rays" on Aug. 9 and 10, which is a requirement for Dennis Acrea's "Advanced Esoteric Astrology," which follows right after.
Click on the summer class schedule here or to the left, and contact us for more information. Come for a visit; something may "kiss you on the inside of your heart!"
Blessings,

New Moon of Cancer
"The Mothering Principle" Rev. Retha Banez & Rev. Cynthia McGinnis
On this Sunday we have an opportunity to celebrate a new moon during the Sunday church service. There is an energetic doorway present at the new moon, a time for releasing old patterns and habits in preparation for healing, planting new seeds, a new idea, rebirth, a new creative period, and setting our intentions. At this new moon, we will also experience a solar eclipse, in which new beginnings are also emphasized, making this period especially potent. Don't let the energy of this powerful new moon pass you by! Rev. Banez and Rev. McGinnis invite you to join them in a special ritual to harness the energy of the New Moon of Cancer within the Sunday message of The Mothering Principle.
Officiator: Rev. Retha Banez
Communion: Rev. Robert Willson
Hierarchy Meditation/Offertory Blessing: Rev. Pamela Ramsfield Co-Ministers of Music: Rev. Roberta Wilkes & Rev. Mary Jane Dicus

Sunday, July 18, 10:30 a.m.
"Love Poems From God" Rev. Carolyn Sales
Using selections taken from Daniel Ladinsky's book "Love Poems from God", we will experience how poetry removes the veil of the familiar to reveal glimpses of Universal Truth. In the works of several eastern and western mystic poets, including Rabia, Rumi, Meister Eckhart, Hafiz, Kabir, and Mira we will hear how techniques like metaphor, irony, paradox, and wit, shock the consciousness into visions of the sacred.
Officiator: Rev. Steven Chase
Communion: Rev. Steven Chase Hierarchy Meditation/Offertory Blessing: Rev. Marilyn Szoko Co-Ministers of Music: Rev. Roberta Wilkes & Rev. Mary Jane Dicus

Sunday, July 25, 10:30 a.m. Full Moon of Leo
"Love Divine" Rev. Robert Willson
This Sunday we celebrate the Full moon of Leo and we consider where Leo helps us become more loving. What might inhibit Leo's higher expression? How is "Leo's love" different from Love Divine? And, if Leo's love is different, how might Leo's love be up-leveled, transformed and transmuted to Love Divine?
Communion: Rev. Peggy Eaton Hierarchy Meditation/Offertory Blessing: Rev. Peg Willson Co-Ministers of Music: Rev. Roberta Wilkes & Rev. Mary Jane Dicus
