Greetings,
As Light of Christ Community Church reaches 29 years in service, so too is our ordaining body, the International Council of Community Churches recognizing its 60th Anniversary this year. ICCC is an international, intercultural, interracial fellowship of churches and ministry centers that seeks to realize Christian unity in local, national, and world relations. In 1950, two fellowships in the Community Church movement joined in an historic merger. At the time, their joining represented the largest interracial merger of religious bodies in America. The new creation was the International Council of Community Churches, which now has over 200,000 members and 180 congregations. Carol Parrish favored this organization twenty-nine years ago because it welcomed women clergy at a time when few denominations did. LCCC and ICCC have been close affiliates ever since.
Many Light of Christ ministers have experienced the exhilaration of ICCC Annual Conferences over the years. A joyous and genuine commitment to embody ICCC's motto "That They All May Be One" overflows each year as members come together to strengthen and support one another. This year's conference is being held in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 19-23. The theme, "Embracing Our Heritage: Freedom, CommUNITY, Love" promises wonderful workshops and study leaders. In addition to looking ahead to the next 60 years, ICCC also plans to honor Rev. Michael Livingston as he steps down from the position of Executive Director, which he held for the last twelve years. Rev. Livingston also served from 2005-2007, as the President of the National Council of Churches. It was a great honor for ICCC to share him with the nation for that time! Rev. Livingston has been a great friend to Light of Christ Community Church, and though we are sorry to see him leave, we wish him the very best as he moves forward on his path. Information about the ICCC conference in Indianapolis is available at www.icccusa.com. Consider joining us there in July, and prepare for your spirit to soar!
There are LCCC Sunday services scheduled for June that will make your spirit soar, as well as classes that will deepen your understanding of ancient wisdom teachings and develop your innate intuition. The first weekend in July, the church, the school and the village will host a "Spiritual Arts Open Doors Event" where much is planned, including our students giving intuitive readings and healings, and the annual Spiritual Vibes Coffee House/Talent Show. See the schedule to the left and below and contact us for more information.
Blessings,
All the ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

"What Am I Doing in Church Today?" Rev. Roberta Wilkes and Team
Why do we come to church? Is it because of habit? Did our parents make us go to Sunday School? Are we looking for a "family?" Do we enjoy the music? Do we enjoy the message? Or is there something more that draws us to a House of Worship?

Sunday, June 20, 10:30 a.m. Father's Day Sunday
"I Remember Father" Rev. Robert Willson & Friends
We all have memories of people who fathered us when we were young no matter whether they were in a male body or not. Yet, even whether these memories were pleasant or not, we selectively chose what we listened to. Thus, we accepted only certain of the guidance that we received from our "fathers." We will look at some of our experiences with being fathered, and doing fathering, and see what we might discover about our hidden concept of who we think we are, and how that might influence our relationship with God.
Communion: Rev. Robert Willson Hierarchy Meditation/Offertory Blessing: Rev. Bonita Plymale Co-Ministers of Music: Rev. Roberta Wilkes & Rev. Mary Jane Dicus

Sunday, June 27, 10:30 a.m.
"Financing Answers in the Heart" Rev. Peggy Eaton
What the heck does the handling of money have to do with spirituality? Do you operate out of abundance and having all of your needs met - on every level; or do you operate out of lack, or do you perceive yourself as bankrupt? Where does your money go? We will explore a spiritual inventory of our assets and debts. Bring your "checkbook" and be ready to fund your spiritual account. Be ready to invest in a growth fund!! Shanti
