Greetings,

"The Lenten Season is a time of soul work preparatory to receiving the inflow of the Easter Mysteries . . . What this period actually accomplishes depends upon the effort put forth by the ego . . ."

"The principal events in the life of the Lord Christ Jesus . . . outline the initiatory Path which has been given all people and all races through the various religions of the world. This is why many declare that the story of Christ as told in the Gospels is a myth to be read allegorically . . . This interpretation leaves out the supreme light of esoteric Christianity, namely, the glorious archangelic Being, the Lord Christ, who ... dedicated Himself to the guardianship of our earth planet . . .  Hence when we learn to place ourselves into an ever closer and even more intimate relation with Lord Christ, we find ourselves correspondingly in closer attunement with the inner spirit of the changing seasons, and with the particular work best accomplished in each of the four seasons of the year."

Mystery of the Christos, Corinne Heline,
New Age Bible and Philosophy Center, 1961, pp. 63-65.

Like just about everyone in the country, those of us in Sparrow Hawk Village are very ready to welcome the changing of the season! As we move through the weeks of Lent, we notice buds on the trees, daffodils pushing up through the cold soil, and skies brightening with the warm promise of spring glory.

And what of Heline's suggestion of our "particular work best accomplished" as the hard winter turns to jubilant spring? Are we ready to seek our soulful purpose this year? Are we to evaluate our current convictions and make adjustments where needed? What allows the joy of the soul to burst open with the beautiful early flowering trees of March? These are just some of the areas to be explored this month at Light of Christ Community Church.

We invite you to join us as we light the Lenten candles on the way to Easter Sunday.  We will
  • strive to become conscious co-workers with God;
  • look for answers in the heart;
  • bask in the energy of the new moon of Pisces;
  • welcome Spring on the Equinox;
  • sample the intuitive insights of our students;
  • consider the meaning of spiritual maturity;
  • make a triumphant entry into our destiny;
  • and acknowledge the original Easter, which is the full moon of Aries on March 29.
Whew! That's a lot of spiritual growth, but this is the season of expansion and new beginnings.

Speaking of spiritual growth, Sancta Sophia Seminary features
Esoteric Christianity courses the last two weeks of March and right up to Easter, (March 29 through Saturday, April 3). Perfect timing to sort the gnosis from the fiction! Mystery teachings lead us to Christ-Sophia and provide access to the inner transformational process. These classes explore powerful messages too often missed. If you can only attend Week I, the rest can be taken online or with a hard copy of the materials. Call to find out more about our flexible curriculum.

Look ahead to April 5-9, our
2010 Showcase of Talents, and treat yourself to new experiences of healing and wellness. Each Sancta Sophia participant receives three private sessions with a trained worker. This week is dedicated to providing new approaches and a fresh appreciation of one's hidden self. As a special incentive to join us for our event-filled Showcase of Talents, bring a guest who has never been here for a program in the past and you will receive a $50 discount.

As you can tell, there are great things happening in the next several weeks. We hope you will visit and see for yourself.

Spring Blessings,

The Ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

Third Sunday in Lent

"Making a Joyful Noise"
Rev. Rev. Peggy Eaton

peg eaton Previously ice and snow conditions prevented us from "Making A Joyful Noise" as planned. This Sunday we will sing our way through the lesson. We will focus on songs that help us REJOICE and feel that joy, joy, joy, joy - down in our hearts, [where?] down in our hearts [where?] DOWN IN OUR HEARTS!!  You don't have to have an operatic voice, just make a joy-full noise!!! Come prepared to sing away your blues - sing at the top of your lungs - shake a rattle, bang a tambourine, clap your hands, play a drum, and, YES, move your body!! Try it! Go Lightly!

Officiator: Rev. Peg Willson
Communion: Rev. Peggy Eaton

Fourth Sunday in Lent

"I Don't Want To"
Rev. Robert Willson

Robert WillsonThis Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent and the theme for this Sunday is: "Finding Answers in the Heart." We all know that this is an important spiritual discipline, but often we find that "I Don't Want To" is our actual response. What might be some of the hidden factors that get in our way? Might there even be some principal inherent in our goal of Oneness that is operating here? Let's consider this subject and see what gold we can mine from the depth of our "resistance" to "Finding Answers in the Heart" that may further our path toward real spiritual awakening.

"Spiritual Maturity"

Rev. Marilyn Szoko

Marilyn SzokoWhat does it mean? What is spiritual? How do we measure spirituality? And how do we know if we have reached maturity? We will delve into answers to these questions. Do you know anyone who is spiritually mature? Are you?

Palm Sunday

"Riding Into Destiny"

Rev. Retha Banez

Retha BanezPalm Sunday, the sixth Sunday in Lent, marks the beginning of Holy Week in the Christian year. Today we distribute palms and commemorate Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Together we sing hosannas to Christ, the King, praising his life and his great love for humanity as he demonstrated the initiatory path. Join us this Sunday as we review the esoteric meaning of Palm Sunday and a summary of the upcoming events of Holy Week. "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."
