Greetings,

February is often considered the month of Love because of the popular holiday, Valentine's Day.  Love, like so many things in the spiritual realm, has its own evolution. There are five levels of Love, beginning with the one most closely connected with the romance of February 14th, Eros.
·    Sometimes called erotic love, this is love in a sexual or instinctive nature, ever guiding the preservation and continuation of humanity.

·    Philia signifies the love for family, friend or group. Often considered brotherly love, this level of love is non-sexual and includes affection and friendship.

·    Self-love bridges the lower and higher chakras. It is considered narcissistic love when the self is loved more than others. However, we must develop self-love in order to raise the vibration of our being and open our heart center.

·    Humanus is Latin for "humanitarian" a love that links us all together as members of the human family. As this impersonal love evolves, we approach the fifth and final type of love.

·    Agape is love in its purest form. This potent spiritual love expresses as God's own love for humanity. This divine love nature is truly Lots of Vital Energy manifesting in its highest form. It is the ideal to which we all strive in life, to love totally and selflessly.

So love is really in the air this month at Light of Christ Community Church! As the Lenten season begins, we turn our attention to spiritual disciplines, often adding a daily meditation, devotional reading, or form of neighborly service, rather than the more traditional approach of "doing without." However you choose to acknowledge the weeks leading to Easter, consider joining our fine ministerial staff as they highlight the Lenten theme for that week. See the schedule below for more information.

This exploration of love ends with two precious statements from an email with no author called Love According to Children.

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

Lots of Love,
from All the Ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

"Sacred Feminine Voices of the Past"
Rev. Sue Van Dyke & Friends

Sue Van Dyke We stand on the steady and strong shoulders of many women of the past who have endured hardships, defied cultural standards, and dared to write of their great love for the feminine aspects of God. We are attached to one another by shawls, aprons, feathered headdresses, nun's habits, deerskin leggings, tunics, and multicolored scarves, holding millions of warm hands all together. Join us as a troupe of LCCC ministers present the sacred poetry, essays, stories, exhortations, and inspirational writings of many unheard feminine voices of the past.

"The Devil Made Me Do It"

Rev. Roberta Wilkes

Roberta WilkesThe Bible says that following his baptism, Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. What is this Devil they speak of? How will we react if we are left alone in the wilderness to face temptation? Will the powers of the lower nature be overcome by the powers of the Soul?

"The Blessed Quiet in the Eye of the Storm"

Rev. Bonita Plymale

Bonita PlymaleThe eye of a hurricane is characterized by relatively calm winds and clear sky. There is a quietness there that contrasts the ferocious storm that swirls around it. Just as hurricane researchers access the situation and determine probable patterns and behaviors of storms, we are also able to get quiet and observe in stillness the stressful whirl of activity that surrounds us in modern day life. Let's cultivate an inner serenity as we each shape our individual response to God's call in our life.

Communion: Rev. Robert Willson
