Love is a Promise, a Discipline, and a Lifestyle - eBook
Love comes, like ice cream, in many flavors, forms and fashions. Always designed to advance our personal growth, it is sometimes painful and sometimes a delight. While we tend to relate love to sexuality, love remains a mystery that can be surprisingly revealed when we discover it's true depth.
"Love is a Promise" is a rich little eBook written by Carol E. Parrish-Harra, noted author and teacher.

Greetings,
Our school year comes to a close in October with the theme Death & Dying, which seems appropriate for the Fall season.
Rev. Katherine James, Ph. D. will present her Death and Dying Workshop, which is based on her observations and research of the dying process as a hospice chaplain. Following that is the week-long Spiritual Healing II class. Rev.Carol Parrish will teach the morning sessions, Facing Death and Dying with New Awareness, and Rev. Katherine Zakutansky will join Carol in the afternoon sessions, Coping with Spiritual Emergencies.
On Saturday, October 17, the seminary will host the always popular Intuitive Skills Day. And remember, it's not too early to start making your plans to attend the 28th Annual Homecoming and Conference in November.
Looking forward to seeing you on campus.

October 10 Special Workshop DEATH AND DYING WORKSHOP: A Comparison of the Physical and Spiritual Dying Process Rev. Katherine James, Ph.D.
A workshop titled, " Spiritual Insights to Death: Comparing Clinical and Spiritual Descriptions of the Dying Process," was developed for hospice clinical and spiritual care staff. The objectives are to provide a comparison of a medical description of the dying process to a spiritual description of dying, and to introduce to clinical care and spiritual care providers a common language for improving assessments of hospice patients' spiritual care needs. Instruction is included on both the dying process and the ancient spiritual teachings on death. Such a comparison provides an opportunity for both clinical and spiritual care staff members to gain new insights and could prove beneficial to the terminally ill patients and all those profoundly concerned.

Esoteric Insights to End of Life: The Role of the Subtle Body During the Dying Process By Dr. Rev. Katherine James
Since 1989 the practice of Reiki, acupressure, and spiritual healing, seminary education, and observations as a hospice chaplain, have provided knowledge of the role of the subtle body during the dying process. While caring for the dying, sensitivity to the life force has increased within this practitioner. While holding a dying person's hand or anointing a dying patient, intuition frequently guides the touch and the diminishing life force can be assessed. What medical science knows about the body's function can be put into the framework of a larger dynamic energy system. Richard Gerber in his work, A Practical Guide to Vibrational Medicine, refers to an evolving viewpoint that takes into account many forms and frequencies of vibrating energy, such as emotions, consciousness, and the life force of the soul, that contribute to a multidimensional human energy system. The new vibrational model sees human consciousness as not merely a by-product of electrical and chemical processing in the human brain, but a kind of energy itself. Emotions are not just the result of neurochemical reactions in the limbic system or the emotional centers of the brain, but are also influenced by a greater, spiritual energy field that encompasses and influences the entire physical body. October 12 - 16 SPIRITUAL HEALING II Rev. Carol E. Parrish & Rev. Katherine Zakutansky
AM session: Facing Death and Dying with New AwarenessRev. Carol E. Parrish Understanding that death is life too, participants are taught how to cope with personal grief and how to facilitate a support system. The mysteries of death and dying are re-explored using a plethora of source materials and personal experiences. This valuable orientation aids in facing one's own mortality, assisting others in making their transition, and supporting survivors. PM session: Coping with Spiritual EmergenciesRev. Carol E. Parrish with assistant Rev. Katherine Zakutansky Humanity faces change at every juncture; this sometimes creates spiritual emergencies. Poised between the known and the unknown, evolutionary forces push us forward, yet few understand expanded realities. As we encounter experiences hard to fathom, we must rework the old and familiar in order to be made new.
