Gr eetings, When I joined the staff at Sancta Sophia last year my cocker spaniel companion, Buddy, joined also. A few weeks ago Buddy made this transition after one glorious year of joy and much love. With much joy he went "to work" with me everyday in the Studio; loved running through the office building looking for crumbs, eventually getting snacks from the staff; and patiently waited for me in the car when he was unable to be next to me. He is greatly missed by me, and many here who loved him.
We are opening the 2009 year of classes with a St. Valentine's Retreat for loving yourself -- oil massages, facials, healing relaxation technique, etc. This should be a great experience for each. We will also start our graduate program this month with Revs. Parrish and Vannall presenting, "Sophia, the Wisdom of the Scriptures."
It is a little chilly now but hopefully we will start warming up. I am looking forward to you sharing time with us.
Blessings, Rev. Linda Oliver

By Virtue of Thy Light Rev. Tom Simota
We are charged to ignite a love to light the world, and this morning we will start by remembering those that tended the sacred flame that burned constantly in the temples -- yes, the Vestal Virgin. The Vestal Virgin is a representation of our conscience -- a symbol of that mystical point of Light within a Greater Light. By examining several of the virtues, we will glean wisdom to show us the ideal of life toward which we strive as Light Workers.

Faith As a Grain of Mustard Seed Practitioner Ann Parker
Faith will move mountains in your life. From the Gospels we read, "If you can have faith as a grain of mustard seed you can say to this mountain (obstacle), be removed (dissolved), and not doubt in your heart, but believe, nothing shall be impossible to you." Faith is a conviction based on eternal laws that never change. The power of faith will work wonders in your life. As we are told in Matthew 9:29, "According to your faith be it unto you." Come and join Practitioner Ann Parker for her faith message and learn how to let simple faith in God be your security.

In the Keys of Love Rev. Retha Banez
On this special weekend, we are taking time for ourselves and focusing on the many aspects of love, beginning with our Saturday Valentine's Day Retreat where love and nurturing of the self is highlighted. On this Sunday you are invited to come and choose a "key" of how love can be expressed in our lives. May we come together joyfully singing songs of love, and discuss how love changes as we mature and progress on our path of discipleship.

Sunday, February 22, 10:30 AM Transfiguration Sunday
Level Up! Rev. Connie Swan
As the season of Epiphany comes to a close, Transfiguration Sunday offers a portal through which we may consciously enter the Fire Mysteries. In his role as Wayshower for Humanity, Master Jesus demonstrates the steps of our spiritual path. Can we understand and access the power and potential of his mountaintop experience in our own lives? Let's consider the possibilities as we prepare together for the beginning of Lent.

Saying Our Goodbyes
We are saddened by the transition of Pat Minard on Thursday, January 22, 2009. She is much in our thoughts and prayers as she moves from plane to plane toward her eternal resting place. We send warm thoughts and prayers to her dear family. Pat would have taught a class this year for us on archetypes. Please see picture and bio below.
Pat Minard was a teacher and spiritual director, working with dreams and inner healing since 1970. As her own life began to overwhelm her, and big dreams came nightly, Spirit also sent teachers into her life as she began her spiritual journey beyond her religious upbringing. Pat saw working with dreams and imagery as a wonderful way of being "Sherlock Holmes" to explore one's own inner life, and learn from it instead of projecting it out in the world.
Pat and her husband Dave shared this spiritual journey, each in their own way, and it enriched their marriage. Over the years, Pat studied and worked with Dr. Morton Kelsey, Dr. John Sanford (Jungian), Dr. Stephanie Simonton, Dr. Paul Tournier, and Dr. Carolyn Myss, who introduced her to a more developed concept of the archetypes. She and Dave also studied Esoteric Healing for four years with Dr. Barbara Briner of Okemos, Michigan. Her spiritual direction work took place under Dr. Harold Edwards in Psychosynthesis, Jungian and analytic work, and later at Sancta Sophia Seminary with Dr. Carol Parrish and others.
She worked out of her home as ministry and was active in her church, FUMC of Omaha, Nebraska, and Faith at Work. Recently widowed after 56 years, she was learning new lessons of adjustment to a singles life, and the unbelievable gifts of unconditional love from family and friends. She lived in Omaha, Nebraska with her cat, Mr. Mystic.
