Greetings,
Well, the "dog days of summer" are here in Oklahoma. I found some interesting information. There are forty days which are considered the "dog days of summer" from July 3 to August 11. They're named after Sirius, the Dog Star in the constellation Canis Major, which shines most brightly during this period. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed the star was responsible for the heat and drought.
Hooray! An important member has joined our team as office manager, Mary Jane Dicus. It has been a pleasure working closely with her this past month.
In August, we wrap up our bounty of summer classes with Leadership I and II week-long classes. Carol and her team teach essential skills for our future ministers and spiritual leaders. The weekend between these two weeks there is a fascinating workshop by Bob Waxman on Comparative Universal Kabbalah. He will explore with us universal spiritual ideas from different religions.
Following the Leadership weeks, Revs. Carol Parrish and Brenda Cutrell will explore the work of Jose Trigueirinho and the community of Figueira. Come and join us for one or more of these enlightening classes.
Very best, Rev. Linda Oliver

Sunday, August 3, 10:30 AM The Greatest Love Affair Practitioner Marti Giese
It is said that "love makes the world go round." Could it be said the world going round makes love? Evelyn Francis Capel tells us the way through the round of seasons and festivals is a path of learning about Christ's love and each season provides a special face of that love. What does love look like to you this season?

Sunday, August 10, 10:30 AM Genesis of the Bible: A Metaphysical Interpretation Bob Waxman, Guest Speaker
The first eleven chapters of Genesis do not refer to any specific religion. The text, however, is filled with hidden meanings, metaphors and numerology. In this sermon, you will learn about the pre-cosmic nature of Deity, the continuity of macro-cosmic cycles, and the evolutionary path of spiritual consciousness.

Sunday, August 17, 10:30 AM Light-Dreaming Practitioner Patsy Fine
The 2012 phenomena and the changing of the Ages are at hand. You may be experiencing feelings of helplessness in the midst of the turbulence and danger our world is facing. Nevertheless, people of the Light have an unprecedented opportunity and responsibility to impact the direction and quality of life in our world. Will we be able to gather our collective Light to make a difference in the coming months and years? As we awaken and join with other Light Bearers we can actually dream a new world into being.

Sunday, August 24, 10:30 AM Sermon From the Compost Pile: Steps Toward Creating an Inner Garden Rev. Marilyn Szoko
Based on Edward Sylvia's book, we are reminded that the distinctions between who we are and what we do are often artificial. The garden we cultivate on the outside is much like the garden we cultivate on the inside. The garden and the psyche are more than metaphors for each other; they are mirrors. "As above, so below," we are reminded, and "As inside, so outside." We will explore a few steps toward creating our Inner Garden.

Sunday, August 31, 10:30 AM Labor Sunday To Do What We Love Rev. Carol E. Parrish
When the line between our work and our play dissolves we know we are blessed. Work does not remain labor; it becomes creative adventure, the play of the soul. Ones so blessed seek to encourage others to enter the dance in a new way. Our steps are much like hopscotch moving us upward with joy. What is the happiness you find in a job well done? What traps us?

LEADERSHIP TRAINING II: Church is a Business Rev. Carol Parrish and Team We acknowledge four emerging types of ministry:
the Pastor who loves, visits and nurtures the Minister-Scholar who serves a congregation, with teaching as a major emphasis the Theologian who defines intimate systems of belief and spiritual law the Prophet-Seer who intuits the unfolding inner nature and guides humanity into the future.
We acknowledge the historic pattern of the Holy Spirit, Sophia, guiding humanity through the ages to this rich new era. As we prepare ourselves, we are shaping a response to the inner call.
Many years of experience in church effort forms the foundation for this class, which offers both inspiration and practical know-how in such areas as church structures (including how to become an LCCC charter), simple legal and tax considerations, bookkeeping, and day-to-day operations. Participants identify their personal styles as they learn strategic planning, public relations, advertising, and the ethical considerations of church management. This class is a must for those planning new ministries. $225/250 includes lunch

DISCOVERING THE WORK OF JOSE TRIGUEIRINHO Rev. Carol Parrish and Rev. Brenda Cutrell Trigueirinho, as he is known, founded Figueira, a monastery in Brazil, where he and approximately 100 others live, study, do healing work, create natural medicines, and publish books. His many varied activities always focus on the seeding of a new state of consciousness and distributing their agricultural produce, healing essences, clothing, tools and health education to the poorer population of the region. Service is a keynote of Figueira. Trigueirinho is one of the most published living authors in Portuguese and Spanish with some 70 books in print. A few have been translated into English and others are in the process of being translated.
Trigueirinho's major concepts align with the Bailey materials; he taught these principles prior to his soul exchange. They are also in harmony with Agni Yoga teachings. They take us more into the future and prepare persons for facing the challenges and changes the new era may bring. Much of the work centers upon the inner realities, new planetary centers, new centers in the more subtle bodies and sound and silence as transformational tools. Our week will be exploratory and explanatory.
Carol and Jose have been correspondents since 1985; Brenda has been visiting Figueira since 2000 and is a member of the translating team. Both have enjoyed many visits to the Monastery and enjoy introducing the work and concepts rarely discussed with others. Please read Calling Humanity prior to this week for best comprehension. Come and see! $225/250 includes lunch

REINCARNATION AND LIFE REVIEW
Rev. Carol E. Parrish, Ph.D.
An in-depth look at a suspect topic-is it fact or fiction?
Does a belief in reincarnation inhibit Christians or enrich the Faith?
Rev. Leslie Weatherhead thought it did. When asked, "Can Christians
dance?" he? replied, "Some can, and some can't." Benjamin Franklin
wrote his epitaph to read, "The Body of B. Franklin, Printer, Like the
Cover of an Old Book, Its Contents torn Out and Stripped of its
Lettering and Gilding, Lies Here Food for Worms, But the Work shall not
be Lost, for it Will as He Believed Appear Once More In a New and more
Elegant Edition Revised and Corrected by the Author." Likewise, Walt
Whitman wrote "And other births will bring us richness and variety. And
as to you, Life, I reckon you are the leavings of many deaths, (No
doubt I have died myself ten thousand times before)" as he let the
world know he embraced the idea. We shall explore richly. This can be a
life-changing experience for many.
It
is estimated that 75% of the world believes in the theory of rebirth.
Come and have your own experiences; discover your personal
opportunities to integrate new insights. This course will offer theory
and history, emphasizing the experimental. An advantage of a long life
and a major reason it is considered a blessing is that the closing
stage is for our internal life review. If we enfold and digest our
experiences of the present life, we are born more free than if we fail
to do so. The last ten years of a long lifetime is the review stage. In
this class we will see how our present life fits with some of our past
and how to piece together some of the experiences we have had this time
with previous lessons and learnings. What can we learn? Much.
Bring personal tape recorders (with batteries only), blank cassettes, notebook, and comfortable clothing.
$225/250, includes lunch

AGNI YOGA: Life from a Modern Ethical Perspective
Rev. Carol E. Parrish,
with contributions by
Rev. Margaret Stephens and Rev. Brenda Cutrell
A
modern approach to spirituality, Agni Yoga emphasizes the daily
practice of ethical living, devotion, and purification of our physical,
emotional, and mental bodies. Formation and application of a living
ethic and development of virtues in the personality are based on a
series of themes, not rigid disciplines. Students learn to integrate
ideology, theology, and service into their lives. The Agni path affirms
the importance of meditation to the work of clearing glamours and
illusions to connect to our inner wisdom. Connections of these
enigmatic teachings to Kabalah and the Bailey materials will also be
explored.
