Dear Light Bearers,

Happy autumn! This is a wonderful time of year to let the cool air energize us and the feeling of change motivate us. October happens to be full of special services and seminary events to stimulate us.

Students will be converging on campus for two weeks of Spiritual Healing, while the church continues prepariation for our November Homecoming, which will include graduation and ordination.

We are also eagerly anticipating the filming scheduled for this month. As you may have heard, there will be a several minute segment about Sancta Sophia to be aired nationally.

candle lightsAs we get caught up in the many goings on, let us remember to keep our inner light burning brightly so that we may shine on others.

Blessings to all of you.

A city on a hill cannot be hid; its lights are seen afar; and while you stand upon the hills of life men see your light and imitate your works and honor God.

Sunday, October 7th, 10:30 AM
Feast of St. Francis Sunday
"All God's Creatures"

crsRev. Marjorie Stuth will lead us in this first part of our Sunday service, as we remember that St. Francis has taught us to see all creation as brothers and sisters under God. We will gather to retie the bonds which we may have broken between ourselves and our environmental home. We will focus on the animal kingdom who have given so much to assist us in our journey, blessing and honoring our pets and remembering those who have gone to their own spiritual home. Please join us in this time of thanksgiving and love.

crsAt 2 PM, Rev. Stuth and Rev. Oliver will lead the second part of this Sunday as we gather in Peace Park across from the chapel with our pets to participate in a blessing for the animals and their guardians. Everyone is welcome, but please bring a leash or a carrier, and remember that some of our animal friends may require more personal space than others.

Carol's Sunday
"From Caterpillar to Butterfly"

carol 3Rev. Carol Parrish examines humanity's metamorphic progress. We all know that as individuals we have to give up being an infant to become a toddler. We give up being a youngster to become adolescent, give up being single to marry. Similarly, at each stage of our collective growth humanity has to live differently. Humanity has been God's child closely confined and made safe by following the divine rules; now we are becoming more daring. We think we have no need for guidelines, safety nets, or authorities. But have we learned to fly? Can we walk alone?

"The Gifts of Transformation"

As we prepare to enter into the sign of Scorpio, our focus turns toward thoughts of transformation. On this Sunday we will ponder our own transformational process, leading us to uncover the gifts of our becoming. Rev. Retha Banez will lead us through a special candle lighting ritual as given by Torkom Saraydarian. Through our willingness to serve, may we each become torchbearers, carrying the light of the higher world to an awaiting humanity.

"Oneness Revolution"

rbrtSomething important seems to be going on as people are waking up to a greater experience of the Light. Although they are still less than perfect personalities, they are less and less of the world as they bring their experience of the Light into active outer expression in all areas of life. The book The Translucent Revolution documents the lives of many such people. Others have learned to transmit spiritual blessings which "induce" the sense of Oneness in large numbers of students. A Oneness University has even started in India, and many of the graduates are making "growth waves" throughout the world. The book Awakening into Oneness discusses this phenomena.  Rev. Robert Willson asks, what is going on with all of this, and how might we best cooperate with it?
