Woohoo Mrs. Coburn!
On behalf of the significant funds raised by this year's Interact Club and the ESK community, Laurie Coburn, ESK MS Interact Club sponsor, was awarded the honor of status as a Paul Harris Fellow. The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundations way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its many programs, specifically, this appreciation is for the contribution to eradicate polio. It is named for Rotary's founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer, who started Rotary with three business associates in 1905. This award has been given to such notables as Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Prince Charles, Luciano Pavarotti and Pope John II. Annual Fund Party!
The first grade parents enjoyed a cocktail reception Thursday evening for their assistance in the Annual Fund drive! As an incentive to achieve 100% participation in the Annual Fund, the Development Office offered a party to the grade with the highest parent participation level by May 17. Parents of the winning class were invited to a cocktail reception in the Siler Great Hall at 6 p.m. on May 24, hosted by members of the Executive Committee of the Board. Students were treated to a pizza party and movie with supervision provided by our Aftercare staff. Many thanks to these energetic families! To everyone else: We appreciate your many contributions and gifts to ESK, and we'll be hosting more events soon! The participation drive has increased overall school participation to 54%, and, although the drive is over, we are still hoping to reach 100% participation.

ESK students enjoyed a visit this week from the famous Soccer Collies of Ocala. FL. Owner Mark Lukas brought the two dogs to school to play our students. Despite skilled defense by students, the collies scored again and again. Lukas, who taught the dogs to play, said they associate soccer playing with all humans. "Whenever they meet a human, they want to play soccer," he said.
