Newsletter & Scriptorium Update

February 26, 2012

Dear Friends,Gil Bailie

The latest draft installment of the manuscript on which I have been working is now on our Scriptorium Project website. This is the second part of a considerably longer piece entitled "History and Hope." We will be posting the subsequent portions in the coming weeks. Our supporters - those who donate $5 a month or $60 a year - have access to the entire text online, but the opening page of the site is accessible to everyone, and Randy has posted a couple of extended quotations on the site, here. Our "sustaining donors" - those who donate at least $25 a month or $300 a year - receive a mailing each month containing a CD with excerpts of talks I've given in the past as well as a portion of the draft manuscript in booklet form. If you are interested in becoming a sustaining donor, go here. All donations are tax-deductible.

The pace of the writing project is slower than I would like, but I feel that the time spent in research and more careful reflection on the questions I am addressing will pay off in a manuscript that will better pass the test of time. The more time and thought given to the substance of this project, and the more thorough the research, the less likely it will be of only passing relevance. This at least is how I console myself when, as is often the case, I wish the project was moving along more quickly. Thanks for your patience and especially your prayers.

Sequestered as I am in my office, the one way I can reach out to our friends and supporters is by posting more or less daily on Facebook and Twitter. While Randy keeps our weblog current with postings, I take a few minutes daily to share a short thought or a quotation from my researches or a link to something I think will be of interest to our friends. If you have a Facebook or Twitter account, I hope you will "like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

The Cornerstone Forum

According to then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, the coincidence of
theology and anthropology constitutes "the truly most exciting part of Christian faith."

The Cornerstone Forum is a product of that excitement and an effort to communicate it to others.
