Inspiring a Wholehearted Faith in a Half-hearted Age

April Update

A Message from Gil Bailie
Gil Bailie

Dear Friends,

Randy has much news to share in this month's newsletter, so please take a look at what he has to say below.

I just wanted to let you know of two things this month that are not part of the regular Emmaus Road Initiative itinerary.

The first is that before the E.R.I. sessions begin on Thursday night in Wheaton, Illinois, I will be visiting Immaculate Conception parish on the Southside of Chicago.

The pastor there is a friend, and he has asked me to give his parishioners an overview of "Violence Unveiled."

Our session begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1st. The parish is located at:

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
2944 East 88th. Street (Map)

Chicago , IL  60617

The Good Fight - Round 2....

In addition, I wanted to let you know that after the interview I did last month on the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network program "The Good Fight" the program host, Barbara McGuigan, asked me to return for another interview. It will be held on Holy Saturday April 11th. This program is broadcast live in the following US time zones:

Eastern 2 pm - 3 pm
Central 1 pm - 2 pm
Mountain 12 pm - 1 pm
Pacific 11 am - Noon

The interview will only be one hour long this time, for the network will be cutting away after the hour to the Vatican for Triduum services there. And so there may be less opportunity for call-ins this time, but if you have a chance to listen and can get a call into the switchboard, I will be happy to hear from you.

We encourage all of those on our email list to tune in to the live radio program if possible (here is a link to the EWTN Radio network list of local stations). If you are unable to receive the broadcast radio signal in your area it may still be possible to listen to the program live via streaming audio over the internet at the following web link:

Additionally, the program will be broadcast on the Sirius satellite radio network's channel 160.

The topic for this month's Emmaus Road Initiative is:

Changing the Subject from Self to Person:
From a Psychological to a Sacramental Understanding of Who We Are

Click on these links for the locations, dates and times of the sessions.

And remember that there are two changes (*) this month, in the Dallas area. See the details by clicking on the sites.

Thank you so much for your interest in our work and for helping to make it possible.

With affection and gratitude,

Gil Bailie

Dear Friends,

March ERI MP3 file and CDs...
...
and Now Streaming Audio !

The free ERI downloadable MP3 audio file of the March Emmaus Road Initiative presentation as well as the CD (which may be purchased for $8 + S/H) are now available on our website.

Also we now have available the ability to stream audio directly from our website. Streaming audio technology enables anyone at a computer with audio capability (speakers or headsets) to listen to Gil's talk without having to download any audio files. The audio material essentially passes through the listener's computer as it is played and so does not clutter up the computer's hard drive. You may listen as many times as you wish. And you may move around in the talk replaying parts that you find of special interest or only playing those sections of the talk you want to hear. In the coming weeks we will be adding streaming audio players for the earlier sessions in the current ERI series. (If you have any difficulty with the streaming service please let me know as this is a new feature to our website.) Also, as we have mentioned previously, we continue to explore the best way to make use of YouTube to provide streaming video of Gil's presentations as well as to keep in touch with those who find our work of value.

If you are one of the many who find Gil's reflections an important part of your life I encourage you to consider making a tax deductible donation to our work, even if you can only afford $5, and especially if your gift would help us meet our matching grant goal (see below). You may make a donation on our web site with your credit card here, or mail a check to our address below.

And remember, anyone who becomes a annual or monthly donor either via check, cash or recurring credit card charge at the $20/month level ($240/yr) or above will receive complimentary mailed copies of the ERI CDs as they are produced. If you would like to support our work in this way you may click on the link in the paragraph above this, or contact me at the address/email/phone number below.

Matching Grant Update...

We are very grateful for a $10,000 matching grant from a donor who wishes to help us develop our base of support by encouraging donations from new donors, increased giving above prior year levels of current donors and donations from those who have not contributed in the past two years.

We have until the end of September to meet this goal, however in the past two months we have received almost $4,000 that qualifies for the grant. We have no illusions regarding the challenge that raising support during these trying times presents. And both Gil and I will be doing all we can to complete the Emmaus Road Initiative series through May as we look for support for new and more effective ways to do the work to which we are called.

Lenten blessings,

Randy Coleman-Riese
