Greetings!

Spring is a time of renewal, and this newsletter is one way we can reach out and renew our connection with our friends and clients.

At Spiller Law, our practice continues to flourish. In addition to our expanding business, we recently received a prominent mention in the LA Times. Our growth and success is built on our ongoing commitment to foster long-lasting and positive relationships. In the spirit of Spring, we are pledging to renew that commitment with each one of you.

What We Do:
  1. For Business Clients. We work with small to medium-sized businesses in the areas of contracts, business planning, mergers and acquisitions, partnership agreements, corporate and LLC formation, private offerings, and licensing.
  2. For Estate Planning Clients. We work with individuals and couples to create affordable estate plans (using wills, trusts, and powers of attorney) that will take care of loved ones and give everyone peace of mind.
  3. For Entertainment Clients. We work with film/TV, new media and music clients in the areas of business formation, business planning, contract negotiation and music licensing.
What We've Done:

This is a sample of what our team has accomplished recently:
  • Created several feature film companies in LA and San Francisco
  • Advised a top model in contract negotiations with a cosmetic company
  • Formed a corporation for a successful jewelry designer
  • Successfully arranged with Sony Music Entertainment to allow for the performance of Duke Ellington's last work, the folk opera, "Queenie Pie," by the Oakland Opera Theater and by the University of Texas, Austin
  • Created a television and film production company for a San Francisco-area performer
  • Advised an actress in contract negotiations with one of London's premier management companies
  • Prepared a University of California employee for a hearing in front of the UC Board of Regents regarding an intellectual property matter.
  • Drafted and executed numerous client estate plans
  • Negotiated song licenses for several feature films

Monthly "Free Legal Advice" coffee sessions
921 Front Street LA sessions prove popular!

In an effort to be accessible to business and entertainment clients in LA, we have been hosting coffee sessions at the Loew's Santa Monica Beach Hotel on the last Friday of every month from 9am to 11am.

The popular sessions provide opportunities for people to get free legal advice and to network. So, bring your legal questions, or just come on by and share a cup of coffee!

Spiller Client Scores a Profitable Sci-Fi Film

Rheem Theater, Moraga, California

In January, Spiller Law clients, Philip Hudson and Amy Demmon, screened their science fiction film, Homeworld, in front of an appreciative audience of friends, family and crew.

Ingeniously made on a micro-budget, it won domestic and international distribution and has already made a profit.

Their next movie is a sci-fi thriller entitled The F.I.O.N.A Prototype. They are currently seeking investors for that movie.
