Episcopalians for Global Reconcilliation
What One Can Do
February 1, 2007
Greetings!
You'll notice a change in this edition of What One Can Do. We're in the process of revamping our internet presence to better serve this movement and so things are in transition.

You'll notice the newsletter is a lot tighter. With longer articles only partially shown and available in full through a weblink for those who are interested. We're also highlighting new items on the EGR website and including more "clickable" material to put more ideas, resources and connections on your screen. As always, keep sending us your ideas and resources so we can pass then on!

The format you see now is not the final form -- so we welcome your suggestions.  We're here to help you follow Christ where he bids us to come -- in the lives of the poor. Tell us how we can help you best.

Quote of the Week
Curry4

"Working to accomplish the Millennium Development Goals is for us a matter of practical discipleship living out the teachings of Jesus found in texts like the Sermon on Mount in Matthew 5, 6, and 7, and in the parable of the Last Judgment in Matthew 25. For us this is not just a matter of doing some good, this good is the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ."
-North Carolina Bishop Michael Curry

Dinner
Feed the world from your dining room table? Fight global poverty by hanging out with friends? That's the idea behind Feed the People to Feed the People (FTP2FTP), an innovative new MDG ministry from an emerging community at St. Mark's Cathedral in Minneapolis.

It's a simple idea that can work for you -- and it's great evangelism to boot. Michael Lawyer tells how:

Begin with the church folk who need relationship time with each other and the chance to do mission. Invite them over for dinner and have them bring the cash they would have spent on a night out.

Instead of buying dinner, you cook them dinner. After dinner, take that money that you and your friends would have spent on a night out, and loan it to a developing world entrepreneur through Kiva.org. Share the information with the rest of the community about what has been done and what more can be done.

Read Michael's whole article here. Then try it ... and let us know how it goes!
