Nature Walks For The Whole Family - Choosing the Right Outdoor Footwear
Nature walking, also called trail walking or gentle hiking, can be a fun and relaxing activity for the whole family.
If one of your new year's resolutions was to exercise and another to spend more time with your children, why not combine the two? Gyms may be wonderful places to intensively tone a particularly body part or slip in a quick workout at lunchtime, but for exercising the mind as well as the body, the benefits of spending time in nature cannot be over-stated. A nature walk at your local campground, national park, or preserve is an easy way to add variety to your weekly exercise routine. Recent psychology studies have shown that spending time in nature can not only reduce stress, but also improve mental functions such as memory.
So, are you ready to get outside?
HealthyFeetStore.com Blog will help you pick the right outdoor footwear to ensure that you and your children's feet stay healthy and free from foot pain. |

| CHOOSING AN ATHLETIC SHOE |
Choosing an Athletic Shoe - Motion Control, Stability, & Neutral Cushioned Shoes Deconstructed
When looking for the perfect athletic shoe fit it is important not only to consider the width and size of the shoe, but also the type of shoe you will need to be comfortable and prevent injury. The first question to ask yourself is what activity you'll be engaging in. Will you be primarily running or walking? Running, particularly on pavement, requires a shoe with a greater amount of shock absorption because a runner's foot hits the ground from a higher altitude than a walker's foot. Walkers may require a more flexible topsole than runners in order to not interfere with the rolling heel to toe motion; however, many running with problem ankles prefer to wear running shoes for greater injury prevention when they walk. For a discussion of whether you should wear a walking shoe or a running shoe during fitness walking read "Walking Shoes Vs. Running Shoes - A Walker's Dilemma - Why It Makes a Difference".
