Part I: How is Income Defined to Calculate Child Support?

This is important when you believe that you should
go back to court to increase or decrease a child
support obligation. Chapter 61 of the Florida
statutes provides two definitions of income. Florida
statute 61. 0467 provides that income is "any form of
payment to an individual, including wages, salary
commissions, bonuses, compensation as an
independent contractor, worker's compensation
benefits, disability benefits, annuity and retirement
benefits, pensions, dividends, interest, royalty and
trust income.
If your spouse or former spouse is receiving any of
these forms of payment it would be included in a
calculation or re-calculation of child support.
Next month I will discuss the definition of income
under Florida statute 61.032.

Tips on Dealing with Anger

Use voice-mail, or e-mail, to leave short, business like
messages rather than talking to your EX directly and
getting into emotional discussions that go nowhere.
Remember that you can't change the past, but you
can learn to keep the past from burdeing your
present and future! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
