A View from the Helm
Spring exudes romance and our romance with the water has not waned over the cold winter months. Sailors nationwide are stripping their boats of their winter attire and assessing the upgrades needed to make 2012 the best sailing season ever. Our online store is buzzing with orders for everything from canvas to hardware. And our on-site specialist Oscar, is on the phone continuously with advice and updates about the most current information in techniques.
We are also planning a full schedule of boat shows so we can meet you personally and help you make the right decisions for your boating future. So visit our website often. We are very likely to be in your neighborhood. We will be the one pulling up with a brand new West Wight Potter in tow for your review.
See you on the road or on the water.

Strictly Sail Pacific |
We Will Be There!
Beginning of April will find us in Oakland California at the Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show in the company of one of our favorite groups the "Potter Yachters".
The Potter Yachters is the oldest known Potter group established in 1978. These seaworthy skippers and boats have been sailing the often 40 knot winds and treacherous seas of the San Francisco Bay for decades. And you can meet these fantastic sailors at our Potter Party on Friday, April 13th at our display located at B-1 right next to Jack London's Cabin at 5pm. Then join us on Saturday, April 14th for the "Potter Parade" in Alameda Bay starting at noon. And on April 15th the Potter Yachters will be hosting a Salt and Pepper Sail for those that crave that hands-on-feeling of a West Wight Potter. Learn these boats from the experts that sail them. You can sign up for this event at our booth any time before Sunday.
So mark this event on your calendar and join International Marine and the Potter Yachters for this fantastic happening. Just some of the fun preceding the Americas Cup 2013.

Potter Memories |

Sid Gullett's Potter Memories My Dad was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, HI from 1972 to 1976. He flew F-4's for the Marine Corps. You can see I was quite young but I remember when this shot was taken. I am many wonderful memories of sailing on that boat. My Dad told me that this is one of two that were sailed from the mainland to Hawaii. Take care, Sid |
Annapolis Spring Sail Boat Show |
International Marine is headed back to Annapolis April 27 through April 29 for the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show.
Forty-two years ago the concept of producing an in-the-water boat show was acted on by Jerry Wood, an Annapolis resident. Decades later it still remains the largest in-the-water show of new sailboats world-wide and has given birth to this spring-time version at Annapolis City Dock, Ego Alley and Susan Campbell Park.
We are proud to be exhibiting at the Annapolis show and especially looking forward to connecting with our east coast counterparts and possible future Potter owners. Nancy Wigal, our Annapolis Potter Pal, will be assisting Ken at the International Marine Booth. She is a Potter 19 owner, and extremely knowable about anything Potter. So join us in Annapolis, a historic city, home to the Naval Academy and the sailing capital of the northeast. We will be looking for you

Tax Tip |
Boat as a 2nd Home With the April 15th tax deadline closing in, we remind all who have a secured loan on their boat that they still qualify for a tax deduction for the interest paid on the loan. For tax purposes many boats meet the criteria as a second home, just as land-based condos or mobile homes do. The IRS defines a second home as having basic living accommodations: sleeping quarters (bunks), toilet (head) and cooking facilities (galley). Many of today's boats meet this requirement. Check with your tax preparer to see if you qualify for this deduction.
