Richard here from Mineral of the Month Club with information on our December 2011 featured mineral, Carnelian from Amberjeby, Boeny Region, Madagascar. Yes, I know some may not like polished mineral specimens, but it's pretty hard to argue with the beautiful color and translucency of this month's mineral!

If you decide to order a Carnelian piece from this Email, we'll be sure to send you our fascinating write-up on Carnelian, which contains a special section on the mineral riches of Madagascar. And here's a link for our December Offer sheet, which has some new finds and minerals we've featured in the past, and some potential gift items: December 2011 Offer Sheet

We've only included a couple of photos with this Email, as the only real difference in the Carnelian is the size, and the ones that are cut flat on the bottom to stand up, and those that aren't. We've culled out the few we didn't like, so be assured you will receive a lovely specimen!

Gold-level Carnelian specimens are available as always for $26.50. They are about 2.5" by 2" to 3.5" by 2.5" and slightly larger.

Group 1 Carnelian are NOT cut flat on the bottom (neither are the Gold-level specimens.) They are about 4" by 3" to 5" by 5" for $32, $35, $40, and $50. We have about 20 of these.

Group 2 Carnelian are cut flat on the bottom so they will stand up and display beautifully (though we might recommend using a little of our MT1 Mineral Tack to hold it down securely. We can throw in a 75-gram pack of this non-hardening, non-staining tack for $3.50 if you'd like to try it out.) We have Group 2 Carnelians about 4" by 3" for $42, $50, and $60, according to size; and larger Group 2 pieces about 4" by 3.5" to 5" by 4" and slightly larger, for $60, $70, and $80. We have about 60 of these.

Group 3 Carnelian are also cut flat on the bottom (MT1 mineral tack is still recommended) and are the biggest, heaviest in the lot--notice I didn't say best, but they are the biggest, which to many of us also means the best! These are about 4.5" to 5" tall and 4" wide for $80, $90, and $100. We have about 16 of these.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to order a Carnelian and/or something from the Offer Sheet. Feel free to call if you prefer at 1-800-941-5594. Thanks in advance!
