Greetings!
Because we are receiving more donations toward tuition assistance, we have reduced the fee for Music Fest to $50. We've also extended the registration deadline for Music Fest to Thursday May 31st. Come join us! Schedule
- June 4-8 Musical Theater (grades 3-12)
- June 11-15 Strings (grades 3-12)
- June 18-22 Piano (grades 3-12)
- June 25-29 Jazz (grades 7-12)
Classes are from 8:30am to 5:00pm daily. The schedule includes continental breakfast, lunch and late afternoon snack.
Audition & Enrollment
Students of all levels are encouraged to apply. However, there are different requirements for each performance level (details are included in each enrollment application):
- Beginner (less than 1 year experience) Must attend an interview where instructors will help assess ability
- Intermediate (1-4 years experience) Must attend an interview and perform an excerpt of music for an audition
- Advanced (5+ years experience) Must perform a live audition or submit a video of an audition piece

- 1 week - $50
- any 2 weeks - $100
- any 3 weeks - $150
- any 4 weeks - $200

 Musical Theater - grades 3-12 Instructors Erika Weil and Joshua Landin lead a week long journey into the world of musical theater! Students will participate in drama workshops, receive vocal coaching, and learn the essentials of set building. The week will conclude with an opportunity for students to show off their new skills with a special performance! |
 Strings - grades 3-12 Instructors James MacQueen, Mark Shaver and Heather Walkover will lead young students of the violin, viola or cello. There will be guided practices as well as theory and musicianship training. Students of all levels are welcome to apply. Students with at least 2 years instrumental experience will have the opportunity to join group rehearsals and performances, including chamber ensembles. |
 Piano - grades 3-12 Special guest instructor Dr. Pauline Bjorem of Abilene Christian University(ACU) will lead a week of piano performance workshops joined by Zion Academy instructors Dumisani Washington, Joshua Washington and Randy Sandoli. Students will receive instruction in music theory, musicianship, and music history. Advanced students will also be able to perform in daily mini-recitals. On Friday, June 22nd Dr. Bjorem will perform a concert and Master Class for the students as well as the general community. |
 Jazz - grades 7-12 Jazz Instructors Randy Sandoli and Karl Udang (along with special guests) lead a week of jazz training and performance. Students grades 7-12 of piano, bass, drums, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, vibes and voice are eligible to apply. Classes will include guided practice, jazz history and music theory. Students can also participate in daily "jam sessions". Friday, June 29th will feature a jazz concert with students and instructors performing. |
