Greetings!

The Los Angeles Universal Preschool Program (LAUP) and the administration and teachers of The Jeffrey Foundation, would like to WELCOME all our new and returning students for the 2011-2012 year.    The Jeffrey Foundation is proud to announce that the LAUP program marked its fifth year on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  This wonderful program prepares 4-year old disabled and non-disabled children for school in a half-day, pre-kindergarten program.  This program has a low student-to-teacher ratio and offers full-and part-time schedules.  These services are provided at either no cost or low cost to parents.  For more information, please call our intake department at (323) 965-7536, ext. 21.

I'm also very proud that the Foundation is entering it's 40th year!  How quickly the years fly by.  As we enter our 40th year, we are planning many events and activities to raise funds to reach our goal of $500,000 (by August 2012), which will greatly benefit programs for the Foundation.    Please read the "The Jeffrey Foundation: A 40 Year Circle of Love" article below.  Business executives, please join our YES! Network (Young Executives for Special Needs Children).

Thank you for caring,

Alyce Morris Winston

Summer Day Camp 2011

Thank you to all our supporters!

This has been a great summer for our special children.  We thank all who made our Summer Camp possible.  Due to the economic crisis and cuts in funding directed at all child care agencies that fund low income and special needs children, scholarships were sorely needed!   We serve 35 children in our Summer Day Camp and are happy to report that 20 went on scholarships.

The trip on August 24th to the Long Beach Aquarium was a real thrill for the children.

magician

Another key moment was when a wonderful magician, Stoil, (pictured above), entertained at our July 4th event.   He entertained the children by making different shapes with balloons and by performing  magic tricks.  The children were thrilled when they got to pet the live rabbit and dove he brought along.

Hawaiian day at JF

In a fun Hawaiian Day party, the staff and children sang and danced to music and wore colorful leis.
