First Annual King of Prussia Awards
KOP-BID honored eight individuals and organizations for their contributions to the King of Prussia community with the First Annual King of Prussia Awards at our Annual Meeting December 8, 2011.
The awards recognize significant economic development projects in the hospitality and tourism, commercial office, retail and transportation sectors that have exemplified the goals and mission of the BID.

2011 King of Prussia Award Recipients:
Leadership Award: Art Powell, Kravco Company, for his exemplary leadership in the King of Prussia community over the past several decades.
Commercial Office Property Award: UGI/AmeriGas for rebuilding their office building in King of Prussia following a devastating fire and working to make the property LEED certified.
Economic Development Project Award (Small):
Best Western PLUS-The Inn at King of Prussia for dramatically improving one of the major entrance points in King of Prussia through hotel renovations.
Economic Development Project Award (Large): PennDot District 6-0 & Upper Merion Township for the Henderson Road Ramps Project (new exit 329 on Route 76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
Retailer of the Year Award (Small): Steve's Sewing, Vacuum & Quilting for its innovative use of a challenging space and transformation into a welcoming retail center along DeKalb Pike.
Retailer of the Year Award (Large): L.L.Bean (King of Prussia Mall) for its major investment in the King of Prussia business community and innovative marketing techniques.
Hospitality Award: Hyatt House (previously Hotel Sierra) for its significant investment in the King of Prussia community as the newest hotel to open in KOP.
The award selection committee included: Leo Bagley, Assistant Director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission; Kathy Brandon, President and CEO of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce; and Rob Loeper, Township Planner of Upper Merion Township.

Hearty & Healthy Holiday Food Drive
More than half-way to our goal!
KOP-BID and Greater Valley Forge TMA (GVF-TMA) are partnering to donate at least 250 pounds of food to Philabundance this holiday season. Now-December 23, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at 1012 West 8th Avenue, Suite A in King of Prussia for donation.
Current priority items: Other recommended items:
-Canned/shelf stable tuna -Macaroni & cheese
-Canned beef stew -Canned fruit cocktail
-Canned chili -Canned green beans
-Canned pasta/beef ravioli -Canned corn
-Jelly -Breakfast cereal or hot cereal
-Peanut butter
Please be sure food items are packaged in boxes, cans or plastic bottles and do not need to be refrigerated.

The Valley Forge Casino Resort is scheduled to open spring 2012.

ongoing hotel and convention operations. The new Valley Forge Casino Resort promises to create new tax revenues and the creation of hundreds of temporary construction jobs, as well as 500 new permeant jobs in the Casino Resort.
Guests of the Resort will continue to enjoy nearly 500 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites and 100,000 square feet of convention, event and meeting space after the construction is complete. An array of extraordinary amenities will join the Casino Resort addition, including: a world-class spa; fabulous, high-end restaurants preparing the freshest Italian cuisine, prime steaks and seafood; a nightclub featuring the hottest club action, deejays and signature bottle service; and the relaxed sophistication of an intimate piano bar.
