Leaked emails from the private U.S. security firm Stratfor cite a Mexican diplomat who says the U.S. government works with Mexican cartels to traffic drugs into the United States and has sided with the Sinaloa cartel in an attempt to limit the violence in Mexico.

Many people have doubted the quality of Stratfor's intelligence, but the information from MX1-a Mexican foreign service officer who doubled as a confidential source for Stratfor-seems to corroborate recent claims about U.S. involvement in the drug war in Mexico.

Romney Dominates In First Debate

Who was that man, and what has he done with Mitt Romney? The Republican presidential nominee was more cheerful, more prepared, more specific, more informed and more energetic than President Obama tonight, resulting in a genuine rout. Romney seemed eager to answer every question, Obama looked peeved and sluggish. For every straw man argument the president raised, his challenger offered a lengthy and detailed rebuttal, in full command of the facts. Romney won virtually every single exchange throughout the night -- on jobs, on deficits, on energy, on Medicare, on health care, and especially on the role of government. Obama's strongest moment may have been wishing his wife a happy wedding anniversary. According to polls, a large majority of Americans expected the president to skate in these debates. What a different reality viewers encountered tonight. I'm not sure how others felt, but I found myself eagerly awaiting Romney's next answer. I'll have a few more specific thoughts as the night unfolds, but this was an exceptional evening for Governor Romney. I'll be fascinated to see how the Obama campaign and the media try to spin this.

At the same time, I'm encouraging them to urge their members to register to vote, and to vote biblically and constitutionally on Election Day. PPN has just embarked on a mass Christian voter registration effort, called  "From Pews to Polls -An Initiative to Protect Religious Freedom in America." We want to reach into every church in Pennsylvania and enlist thousands of new voters. This is where you can help in an easy, but very big way.

First, I need your help to identify churches and pastors. If they believe in the authority of Scripture and that our rights come from God not government, we want to work with them. • Follow-Up Email - We will send or provide a template for a personal email from you or me asking unregistered members to register online or to register at a church registration drive during the month of September.
• Early Voting Information - We will provide information and assistance in helping members of your congregation to vote by Absentee Ballot if they cannot be physically present on Election Day in November.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

1. Bam! Slam! Pow! Crash! BOOM!

There was a surreal moment after the debate last night. On CNN, the polling went overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney among debate watchers. Basically two-thirds of the American public who watched the debate claimed Romney won. A majority claimed Romney was with them on taxes, the economy, healthcare, their views of government, etc. He dominated.

A CBS poll of undecided voters who watched the debate mirrored the CNN poll.

Suddenly the Democrats took to the airwaves and twitter to rail against the polls oversampling Republicans and being too heavily skewed, too instant to be meaningful, and clearly not an accurate statistical sample of anything.

About the same time Barack Obama's campaign team was melting down on television, the campaign sent out an email that did not even mention the Presidential debate. It just wanted more money.

The debate was so bad for Barack Obama I expect Eric Holder to send Jim Lehrer to GTMO. Barack Obama suddenly agrees with Republicans on defunding PBS. Without his precious TelePrompTer to feed his Gollumesque addiction to its illuminated, precious words, the President fell flat. Instead of John Kerry for a debate partner, the President should have just gone through airport security a few times or embraced BOHICA as a debate preparation strategy.

Put it to you this way, within ten minutes of the debate ending, Jessica Yellin of CNN spoke with Stephanie Cutter of the Obama campaign. Ms. Cutter conceded up front that Mitt Romney won on both debate preparation and debate style. It went downhill from there. She began parroting talking points about the debate she herself released to Obama surrogate at sun up yesterday morning. She had nothing new to add.

The Practical Problem of Muslim Violence

For the moment let's put aside the great debate we are currently having over whether Muslims are bloodthirsty savages or noble persecuted victims of our foreign policy. Whatever one's view of the tenets of a religion whose founder got rich and got married by murdering and torturing those who didn't bow to his god, its modern day practitioners represent a practical problem that not even the most wide-eyed chump with a two-thousand dollar camera full of photos of native boys and a guidebook to doing Benghazi on two pebbles a day can really overlook.

 

Muslims, in a percentile yet to be decided, kill people. That is a thing which most members of the human race, not counting perhaps the Amish, do from time to time, but they seem to do it more frequently and without the non-prejudicial clause that our modern looters and murderers are expected to abide by. More problematically they do this in troublingly organized ways with an eye to achieving the maximum possible death toll even when there is no personal profit or personal survival involved.

Imagine the gang bangers with their gold-plated 9mm's held at an artful hip-hop video angle believing that a short lifetime of sordid evil will be atoned by killing anyone who isn't a member of the Crips, Bloods and Mohammeds. Now put those gang bangers under the leadership of a Muslim Bill Ayers, a graduate of some second-rate American university with a degree in Muslim Brotherhood recruitment in Cairo, and throw in funding from a Muslim George Soros with his own line of oil wells, terrorist training camps and country. Put the whole thing together and you have a serious Muslim terrorist problem.

Frankly, I'm not expecting the presidential candidates tonight to show a lot of concern for the 20 million "U6" unemployed Americans when they talk about immigration tonight.

We focus this ad on Black Americans because joblessness is so much worse for them than even the bad situation for Americans in general.

You will notice that the father in the ad refers to 3 million Black Americans who can't find a job.

We want politicians to think specifically about them and answer why agree to a system that favors new immigrant workers and illegal foreign workers over unemployed Americans, specifically over Black American s. You can see why almost no politician is willing to answer this question.

The 3 million figure comes from the second quarter report of the government's Current Population Survey in the "U6" broad category in which the Department of Labor measures people who can find no job at all or who have been forced into part-time unemployment. I often phrase this as "people who can't find a full-time job."

The U6 unemployment rate for all Black Americans is 22.5%.

It is especially bad for young Black Americans (under 30) who have a high school education -- 39.4%!

For older Black teens who are seeking work, the unemployment rate is 52.9%!!!!!

Keep in mind that these are all people who WANT a job -- like the father depicted in our ad. Will our politicians tell us why we should allow 7 million illegal aliens have U.S. jobs instead of these and all other unemployed Americans? Or why they allowed the addition of another 1 million legal immigrant workers this year and plan to add another 1 million next year?

I hope you can get this information spread far and wide during these final few weeks of the congressional and presidential campaigns.

You will likely hear somebody say that focusing on Black unemployment is an attempt to pit Black Americans against Hispanic Americans. In fact, though, Hispanic Americans are in just about as bad of shape as their Black fellow citizens.

U6 unemployment for Hispanic Americans is 19.1%. And it is 28.6% for those under 30 with a high school degree.

The rate for all U.S. citizens is 14.1% -- unacceptably high. But it is twice as high for all U.S. citizens under 30 with a high school degree -- 29.0%.

Tonight's debate will tell us many things. When Barack Obama steps on the stage to face Republican challenger Mitt Romney we will see and hear how Obama defends his stewardship of our economy.  We will hear Romney question why our economy is drowning in a sea of red ink and 44 straight months of 8% or more unemployment.

The liberal Democrats moderating the event will be rude to Romney and bend over backward to give Obama more time and probably even help him answer questions.

We will hear "Bain"  "Bain" "Bain." We won't hear tough questions for Obama.

Equally predictable will be the shopworn and all too predictable post- debate  "analysis" from Obama's media "corpse" as he would say the word.

 There is a reason Republican Linda McMahon is leading her Democrat opponent Chris Murphy in the race to fill the soon to be open Senate seat from Connecticut. They've seen this guy before and the last time he used the name Chris Dodd. Dodd is gone now but he is the "Evil Twin" of Chris Dodd and the voters of the Nutmeg State don't want another Chris Dodd.     After finally seeing the end of Chris Dodd in 2010, we all hoped the damage he and Barney Frank had done to us, with their Dodd/Frank Bill, could begin to heal. Now we have to rethink that optimism because we are seeing Dodd's return in the candidacy of Connecticut Democrat Congressman Chris Murphy.

The specter of the  return of another Chris Dodd is enough to scare anyone who cares about America's chances of ever recovering from the years of suffering under Barack Obama.

"Obama's Other Race Speech"

As you know a video of a controversial Obama speech was released last night on Sean Hannity's Fox News show. Originally obtained by the The Daily Caller, it shows an angry, race-baiting then-Senator Obama using a contrived black accent before an audience of black pastors at Hampton University in June 2007.

Obama delivered this speech in the cadence of a rabble rouser. If Mitt Romney spoke to a white evangelical audience and attempted to deliver the speech in the cadence of an evangelical pastor, does anyone not think the media would make a big deal out of that? It was obvious and demeaning pandering.

Is it a game changer in the election? The speech is getting some attention, but I doubt it will have a major impact. The left-wing media has no impulse to dwell on it the way they dwell on any mistake by Republicans like Romney's 47% or Dan Quayle's misspelling of potato -- apparently far more serious things than a president intent on stoking racial tensions.

Tune In Tonight!

Don't miss tonight's first presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. The debate begins at 9:00 p.m. ET. The focus of tonight's debate is domestic policy, specifically the economy, health care, governing and the role of government.

Governor Romney is getting a lot of advice. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich told Politico, "At the end of the debate Wednesday night, Romney has to be a clear alternative... I think he's got to draw a sharp contrast between a Romney recovery and Obama stagnation." Newt added, "if [Romney] is as assertive and direct with Obama as he was with me in the two Florida debates, he'll be fine."

In an interview with Greta Van Susteren, Donald Trump said Romney should be "very, very tough, and very forthright" in order to make sure his message breaks through the negative attacks from the Obama campaign and the media.

Writing in today's Wall Street Journal, Fred Barnes states that Governor Romney "must make a forceful case that America's survival as a prosperous and respected nation is at stake. In that context, the election becomes an urgent choice between a national turnaround and further decline."

No doubt we can expect to hear a lot from Barack Obama about Governor Romney's "47%" gaffe. Here's a suggestion: Every time Obama brings that up, Romney should mention Joe Biden's statement yesterday that "the middle class that has been buried the last four years."


The Polls Are Tightening

New polls out today suggest the race is tightening nationally and in key battleground states. A National Journal poll of likely voters finds the race is tied at 47%. New polls in Florida and Virginia find Romney and Obama statistically tied as well.

Here is an important point to keep in mind: A lot of voters are probably still undecided. According to exit poll data 20% to 30% of voters historically don't make up their minds until sometime in October or the final week of the campaign.


Obama's Foreign Policy Fiasco

When Barack Obama took office, he was intent on "fundamentally transforming" America's foreign policy. His first interview as President of the United States was granted to an Arab-language TV station. He has sent private letters to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Just six months into his first year in office, he delivered his "New Beginning" speech in Cairo, Egypt.

And there was more than just words. Obama put your hard-earned tax dollars behind his outreach too. According to CNSNews.com, Obama increased foreign aid by 80% between 2008 and 2011, with much of that money going to governments who hate us and vote against us at the U.N. Moreover, Obama spent nearly 80% more on foreign aid than he spent on securing our own border with Mexico.

What do we have to show for it? Iran is four years closer to a nuclear bomb, four Americans were murdered in Libya and two Border Patrol agents were shot in Arizona this week, one of whom was killed.

By the way, how's that investigation in Libya going? Consider this depressing excerpt from today's Washington Post:

"Three weeks after the attack that killed four Americans in this city, the investigation of its causes remains in its initial stages, with just a handful of suspects detained, the crime scenes minimally secured and Walid Faraj waiting for a phone call from someone, anyone, asking him what he saw on the night he was injured while protecting the U.S. diplomatic post here."

And while the evidence mounts that Al Qaeda was behind the terrorist attack on our consulate, the American left continues to make common cause with the militant Islamists. On MSNBC this morning, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser, was once again harping on that obscure anti-Islamic film.

Brzezinski said, "It's not a question of freedom of speech entirely." He suggested that government should investigate the producers of the film for "conspiracy," and added that they could be "liable" for the violence and deaths that occurred. Once again, the left-wing mindset is on display: It's not the jihadists' fault, it's our fault, and Americans must surrender their freedoms to the radical Islamists if we want peace.

10 Questions for the First Presidential Debate

Tonight's debate between President Barack Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney is supposed to focus on domestic policy, with a major concentration on the economy. Health care, the role of government, and philosophy of governing are also on the agenda. The Heritage Foundation's policy experts have submitted 10 questions they would like to see asked in the debate.

1. In 2008, then-candidate Obama said, "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase." In reality, President Obama's signature health care law contains 18 new or increased taxes and penalties that will cost taxpayers $836.3 billion over the next 10 years, many of which fall heavily on the middle class. In fact, almost 70 percent of those responsible for paying the fiercely debated individual mandate are below 400 percent of the federal poverty level. Should these tax increases be stopped to protect middle-class Americans from their damage? If yes, where would the money needed to help pay for Obamacare come from?

2. Millions of baby boomers are starting to retire, and spending on Social Security and Medicare as these programs are currently structured is simply unsustainable. What is your plan to solve the looming entitlement program spending crisis?

3. Medicare as we know it today is facing severe financing problems that are unsustainable and putting future generations' Medicare benefits in jeopardy. Over the long term, Medicare has made $37 trillion worth of promises to seniors that it cannot keep and the hospital insurance trust fund will be empty by 2024. Worse, the President's health care law will cut Medicare by $716 billion over the next 10 years to pay for new spending in Obamacare. 5. The Health and Human Services Department recently rewrote the law governing welfare to weaken its work requirements. Meanwhile, the number of people relying on food stamps has doubled under the current Administration. Should all able-bodied recipients be required to work or prepare for work as a condition of receiving aid in public housing, food stamps, and cash assistance?

6. The federal government is currently spending much more than it has, and annual budget deficits over $1 trillion have become the norm. What is your plan to stem the tide of deficits and rising debt?

One of the few bright spots in America's economy has been energy production, particularly on state and private lands.  According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), energy production decreased 13 percent on federal lands in fiscal year (FY) 2011 when compared to FY 2010.  What would you do to reverse course on energy production on federal lands?

8. Congress-most notably the Senate, which hasn't produced a budget in over three years-is sorely lacking in its basic responsibility of budgeting. What would you do to ensure the fundamental process of budgeting is restored?

9. President Obama has previously stated that, in the most important 5 percent of cases before the courts, it matters more what is in a judge's heart (what has come to be known as his empathy standard) than what the rule of law requires. Is this the correct standard by which to evaluate judicial nominees? If not, what standard would you apply?

10. Former Attorney General of Mexico Victor Humberto Benítez Treviño estimated that approximately 300 Mexican citizens have been killed using Fast and Furious weapons in addition to U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Should Eric Holder resign as Attorney General because of his failures related to Operation Fast and Furious, including his failure to properly supervise the operation? If not, why not?
