The producers of the blockbuster movie 2016: Obama's America are crying foul against what they suspect to be an organized effort to drive viewers away from the theatrical showing of the film. False internet rumors have been circulating all week, stating that Fox News Channel had scheduled a free airing of the film. No such airing was scheduled. The movie also sustained a second attack over the weekend when it was illegally uploaded to YouTube in violation of U.S. copyright laws.

"The reports of the movie appearing on Fox before the election are completely untrue and we strongly suspect that they are the result of dirty tricks by our opponents who spread this rumor in order to confuse the general public and keep them from going to their local theaters," said the film's writer/director Dinesh D'Souza."We urge all Americans to ignore these efforts and go to their local theater and enjoy the movie on the big screen."

The news media is more than happy to report on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's "gaaaffes," but what about President Obama's? After all, the president has had some pretty seriousmissteps in recent weeks.

According to CNBC's Larry Kudlow and conservative firebrand Ann Coulter, the president's gaffes have gone unreported because, well, the press is giving him a free pass.

"It's stunning how Obama gets this kid glove treatment from media," said Coulter.

Kudlow noted that, if anything, the only presidential gaffe you'll hear about is "60 Minutes" "bumps in the road" remark.

It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

Dear Friend and Patriot Leader,

As you know too well, unless our friends who fear God, respect our constitution and love freedom unite now and vote in this upcoming election, we will lose the America we have known. Yet remarkably, 15-30% of self-identified Christians are not even registered to vote. If even a small percentage of those joined the fight, it could make the difference in the 2012 election. Making this happen is my highest priority, and once again I need your help.

At the Pennsylvania Pastors' Network (PPN), we have been working very aggressively with pastors across the commonwealth. We're calling on them to stand boldly at the pulpit, preach the truth, and teach the Scripture as it addresses the intersection of policy and Christian culture. At the same time, I'm encouraging them to urge their members to register to vote, and to vote biblically and constitutionally on Election Day. PPN has just embarked on a mass Christian voter registration effort, called  "From Pews to Polls -An Initiative to Protect Religious Freedom in America." We want to reach into every church in Pennsylvania and enlist thousands of new voters. This is where you can help in an easy, but very big way.

First, I need your help to identify churches and pastors. If they believe in the authority of Scripture and that our rights come from God not government, we want to work with them. If you are able to make one or more recommendations of this sort, please click here to be taken directly to our website. Once there, simply supply the requested information, and if you include his or her phone number, we will personally call that pastoror church leader.

• Registered Voter Look-Up Service - We will confidentially identify those in your church membership who are not registered to vote and return that information to you.
• Follow-Up Email - We will send or provide a template for a personal email from you or me asking unregistered members to register online or to register at a church registration drive during the month of September.
• Early Voting Information - We will provide information and assistance in helping members of your congregation to vote by Absentee Ballot if they cannot be physically present on Election Day in November.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

Are You Registered to Vote? Do You Have a Photo ID? Do They Match?

According to the U.S. Constitution all American citizens 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, color, religion, or creed, whether male or female, have the right to vote.  However, voting in Pennsylvania this year will be a bit more complicated than prior years due to the new Voter ID law.  A dedicated group of Main Line citizens are doing what they can to make sure that you can exercise that right on November 6th. 

A small table located at Gateway Shopping Center (near Trader Joes and Great Earth Vitamins) is staffed with volunteers on weekends who will assist you by:

• Providing voter registration forms
• Helping people to complete their voter registration form
• Providing absentee ballot application forms and completion instructions
• Providing up to date information on the voter ID requirements

Additionally, if anyone has a question that the volunteer on duty is unable to answer, we will take their name, email address and/or phone number and get back to the questioner with an answer.

The table will be staffed every Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm and every Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm now thru October 7th.

We recommend that everyone check to make sure that (1) you are still registered to vote and that (2) your voter registration name exactly matches your name on the photo ID that you plan to use on Election Day.  To confirm that you are registered, go to www.can9/10/12ivote.org . Select Pennsylvania; then click on Find Voter Registration Status.  Entering your personal data will allow you to confirm that you are registered and provide you with the address of your polling place.

Some may question whether citizens in our area really need help in registering to vote.  When this service was provided in 2008 over 1000 people registered at the table!  Volunteers assisted citizens from the 5-county Philadelphia area and Lancaster, Berks, and Lehigh Counties. 

Key dates for this fall's election are:

10/9 - last day that Voter Registration forms will be accepted by Voter Services

10/30 - last day that Absentee Ballot applications will be accepted by Voter Services

11/2 - last day that completed Absentee Ballots will be accepted by Voter Services

11/6 - Election Day

1. Doom, Gloom, and Polls

Both sides in Campaign 2012 have a very unhealthy fixation on daily tracking polls. The media is using the polls as an excuse to not cover the growing disaster in Libya and instead focus on Romney. The right is using the polls as a tool to reinforce their disgust with the media. It is getting so bad, some are even now accusing RealClearPolitics of gaming the polls for Barack Obama.

This is not healthy for any side. I've been in politics long enough to know that the louder one side gets complaining about the polls, the more likely it is that this is the side that, in reality, actually is losing. Go back to 2004 and you will find Democrats trying to destroy the credibility of any pollster who dared show George Bush winning. Heck, go back to 2010 and look at the attacks then on Scott Rasmussen, who accurately predicted the outcome.

Here's a simple truth: the polls and polling trends are by and large accurate, but - and pay attention to the but - the polls are overestimating Democratic turnout. Those polls that presume less than a 2008 Democratic wave, which I think is most reasonable, have the race very close, though pretty much all of them have Romney still behind. The reality is that Mitt Romney is behind, but that does not mean this thing is over. It is close and Romney can very much still win this election. Finally, at long last, it also seems Romney has a message that can resonate.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A former Guantanamo prisoner suspected of being an al-Qaida member may have led the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, intelligence sources told Fox News.

Sufyan Ben Qumu, a 53-year-old Libyan citizen once considered a "threat" to the United States, is believed to have orchestrated or at least been involved in the Benghazi rocket-propelled grenade attack that killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other State Department officials on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the sources told the network.

The report didn't say how bin Qumu may have been explicitly involved in the attack, although his fighting group, Ansar al-Shariah, is suspected of taking part.

His Guantanamo files indicates he had ties to the financiers behind the 2001 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people, Fox News said.

Qumu was held in the U.S. military's Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba until the Bush administration released him to Libya Sept. 28, 2007, on the condition Libya keep him in jail.

Lawyers believe the government's action will be a boost for those representing detainees at the U.S. military base in Cuba.

The U.S. Justice Department on Friday made public the names of 55 Guantanamo prisoners who have been approved for transfer to the custody of other countries, releasing information sought by human rights organizations.

The announcement, which reverses a 2009 decision, was a surprise to organizations that had filed Freedom of Information Act requests seeking the information.

"We did not expect this," said Omar Farah, attorney for the Center for Constitutional Rights. "This is an important development."

Farah said the government's action will be a boost for lawyers representing detainees at the U.S. military base in Cuba. "We can now advocate publicly for the release of our clients by name," he said.

The government's move has no immediate, practical effect on the inmates' detention. Inclusion on the list does not mean that the U.S. has absolved them of any wrongdoing or that it believes they pose no threat, and there was no indication of when any might be sent elsewhere.

In 2009, Ambassador Daniel Fried, the Obama administration's special envoy on detainee issues, argued then that it was necessary to keep the prisoners' identities secret while the U.S. negotiated transfers to other countries.

"It is important for the U.S. government to have the latitude to approach potential destination countries in a discreet and confidential manner, in order to minimize the risk of undue publicity," Fried said in a statement at the time.

But the government said in a court filing Friday that the successful transfers of other detainees no longer warranted such concerns. It noted that 40 detainees have been resettled in new countries and 28 were repatriated to their native countries since 2009.

Obama, Holder have approved one of bin Laden's bodyguards for release or transfer from Gitmo

President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have approved one of Osama bin Laden's personal bodyguards for release or transfer from the Guantanamo Bay detention center to another country, according to prison records released by WikiLeaks and a recently published list of approved-transfer detainees from the Justice Department.

Idris Ahmad Abdu Qadir Idris is the second name on Holder's Justice Department list of 55 Gitmo detainees approved for release or transfer. This detainee, according to a Jan. 26, 2008, Defense Department document published by WikiLeaks, provided security for bin Laden both before and after the deadly Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

The message attached to a new  Politico-George Washington University Battleground Poll (P-GWUBP) is a study in literary gymnastics. As hard as the authors tried to twist the data of the survey, reading it brings you to only one logical conclusion: Mitt Romney is moving toward a solid victory and probably a landslide in November.

The report starts with background information whose only purpose is to try to discourage readers from sticking with "yesterday's news" and stop reading before they get to the devastating news for Barack Obama.  Once the actual report starts the "good" news for Obama fans is provided: Obama leads Romney by 3 points - well kind of - sort of.

 P-GWUBP admits to "rounding the number up from 2.6%." NEW YORK - Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, the country's first democratically elected leader, says freedom of expression must be joined with responsibility in a speech that addressed the violent clashes that erupted across the Muslim world in reaction to an anti-Islam video produced in the United States.

Morsi, a key figure in the Muslim Brotherhood, was speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York on Tuesday. He did not outline what limitations he believes should be imposed on free speech. The new Egyptian leader addresses the U.N.  General Assembly on Wednesday.

He condemned the violent acts of some demonstrators. Dozens of people, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, have been killed since protests began last week after excerpts of the anti-Islam video were dubbed into Arabic and posted onto YouTube.

After fighting the Civil War to continue enslaving black people and then subjecting newly freed black Americans to vicious, humiliating Jim Crow laws and Ku Klux Klan violence, Democrats set about frantically rewriting their own ugly history.

Step 1: Switch "Democrat" to "Southerner";

Contrary to liberal folklore, the Democratic segregationists were not all Southern - and they were certainly not conservative. They were dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrats on all the litmus-test issues of their day.

All but one remained liberal Democrats until the day they died. That's the only one you've ever heard of: Strom Thurmond.

As soon as abortion is relegated to the same trash heap of history as slavery has been, liberals will be rewriting history to make Democrats the pro-lifers and Republicans the pro-choicers. That's precisely what they've done with the history of race in America.

Eugene Genovese, RIP

The news is out the afternoon of the passing of another giant of the intellectual world: Eugene Genovese, at the age of 82. In one of those coincidences that may not be entirely coincidental in this mystical world of ours, on Sunday and Monday my mind turned to thoughts of Genovese, the great scholar of the South and slavery in America (especially his classic Roll, Jordan, Roll). I was doing this thinking I might include him in the portion of my Monday night lecture on the economics of slavery to my fall class at Ashland; instead I concentrated on the work of Robert Fogel and Stanley Engerman (Time on the Cross and Without Consent or Contract), which revolutionized our understanding of slavery (and confounded the many Confederate apologists still with us today) when their work started appearing in the 1970s. I recall forming the thought, "Eugene must be getting pretty old by now." I remembered the death of his wife Elizabeth Fox-Genovese in 2007, along with fond memories of meeting both of them at meetings of the National Association of Scholars many years back.

The Genoveses were among those consequential intellectuals who moved from Left to Right; Eugene Genovese started out a Marxist, and might be said to have remained one after a fashion. But he and Elizabeth moved steadily over to our side as time passed (Elizabeth traded in her Marxism for Roman Catholicism, which makes some sense except to the hating-Left), much to the outrage of the "Progressive" Left. Here's how Jesse Walker puts it in a short notice at Reason.com:

But Genovese was also a cultural conservative, a sympathetic interpreter of southern traditionalists, and a fierce critic of the academic left. By the P.C. wars of the early '90s, he was routinely categorized as a man of the right, even though he still considered himself a socialist; by the end of his life, he had contributed to National Review and spoken at the American Enterprise Institute.

He's the kind we don't see often any more. RIP.

While we're waiting for the American people to figure out more clearly that we have a president who is the functional equivalent of an NFL replacement ref, we might as well take time out to look at some NFL quarterback Muppet character doppelgangers, courtesy of Buzzfeed. Has Elizabeth Warren Been Practicing Law Without A License?

Elizabeth Warren's Senate campaign is, I think, going rapidly down the drain. On top of her affirmative action fiasco comes another scandal: it appears that she has been practicing law in Massachusetts without a license for some years.

Credit William Jacobson, who, like Warren, is a law professor, for the discovery. Jacobson has been one of the most effective members of the blogosphere over the last couple of years, and this story is a tribute to his dogged investigation. His initial post is here. Jacobson establishes that Warren is not licensed in Massachusetts, and never has been; that she is not currently licensed to practice law anywhere; that Warren repeatedly listed her Cambridge, Massachusetts office as her law office in court filings; and that Warren in fact practiced law out of her Cambridge office. If all of that is true, as seems incontestable, Warren has a lot of explaining to do

Although the polls show the presidential campaigns neck and neck, the facts continue to look negative for Barack Obama. Two-thirds of the American people say they believe the United States is going in the wrong direction, and changing the occupant of the White House is the only way to reverse course.

What Happens in California Does NOT Stay in California,
Urge Gov. Brown to Veto AB 1081 TODAY!

We need your help fighting California legislation that seeks to thwart immigration enforcement. In late August, the California Legislature passed AB 1081 and sent the legislation to Governor Jerry Brown. FAIR is calling upon every American to contact Governor Brown and urge him to veto AB 1081. AB 1081 currently sits on Governor Brown's desk. If he does not veto this bill by September 30th, the bill will automatically become law.

Passed by the California legislature in late August, AB 1081 requires state and local law enforcement agents to ignore U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers unless the alien has been convicted of a "serious" or "violent" felony. Even more appalling, even in cases when an alien has been convicted of a serious or violent felony, AB 1081 allows California law enforcement agents to ignore ICE detainers if they so desire. Under California law, such crimes include:

• Murder or voluntary manslaughter;
• rape;
• sodomy by force;
• lewd or lascivious act on a child under 14 years of age;
• any felony punishable by death or imprisonment in the state prison for life;
• any felony in which the defendant personally inflicts great bodily injury on any person, other than an accomplice, or any felony in which the defendant personally uses a firearm;
• attempted murder;
• assault with intent to commit rape or robbery;
• assault with a deadly weapon or instrument on a peace officer;
• arson;
• exploding a destructive device or any explosive causing bodily injury, great bodily injury,
• exploding a destructive device or any explosive with intent to murder;
• any burglary of the first degree;
• robbery or bank robbery;
• kidnapping;
• holding of a hostage by a person confined in a state prison;
• attempt to commit a felony punishable by death or imprisonment in the state prison for life;
• any felony in which the defendant personally used a dangerous or deadly weapon;
• selling, furnishing, administering, giving, or offering to sell, furnish, administer, or give to a minor any heroin, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), or any methamphetamine-related drug, or any of the precursors of methamphetamines,
• grand theft involving a firearm;
• carjacking;
• throwing acid or flammable substances, in violation of Section 244;
• assault with a deadly weapon, firearm, machinegun, assault weapon, or semiautomatic firearm or assault on a peace officer or firefighter, in violation of Section 245;
• assault with a deadly weapon against a public transit employee, custodial officer, or school employee, in violation of Section 245.2, 245.3, or 245.5;
• discharge of a firearm at an inhabited dwelling, vehicle, or aircraft, in violation of Section 246;
• commission of rape or sexual penetration in concert with another person, in violation of Section 264.1;
• continuous sexual abuse of a child, in violation of Section 288.5;
• shooting from a vehicle, in violation of subdivision (c) or (d) of Section 26100;
• intimidation of victims or witnesses, in violation of Section 136.1;
• criminal threats, in violation of Section 422;
• any attempt to commit a crime listed in this subdivision other than an assault;
  (Cal Pen Code § 1192.7(c)(Serious Felonies); Cal Pen Code § 667.5(c) (Violent Felonies))

This means that if Governor Brown signs AB 1081, instead of being required to transfer custody of aliens convicted of these heinous crimes to the federal government for deportation, state and local officials will have the authority to release them back out onto the streets! This year alone, the federal government has already deported over 20,000 criminal aliens from California. If this legislation becomes law, it will not only jeopardize the public safety of Californians, it will affect the public safety of all Americans.  Under AB 1081, instead of being deported, these criminal aliens will be free to go to any neighborhood in the nation!!!

Many Californians are already aware of one story in which local jails released a violent criminal alien back onto the streets. That's the story of Jamiel Shaw, Jr., who was murdered near his house in Los Angeles by an illegal alien gang member who had been released only one day earlier from a California jail where he had been serving time for assault with a deadly weapon. Not surprisingly, the Shaw family is passionately opposed to AB 1081 as the law would grant state and local law enforcement agencies authority to release illegal alien murderers - like the one who killed Jamiel - onto the streets instead of handing them over to the federal government for deportation (to learn more about the Jamiel Shaw story, click here).

Prevent another tragedy like Jamiel Shaw's from happening in your state by calling Governor Brown NOW and URGING him to veto AB 1081. Tell him that AB 1081 is a horrible threat to public safety and that he should care more about protecting Americans than illegal aliens! Remember: Gov. Brown has until September 30 to affirmatively veto this legislation. If he fails to take action, the bill will automatically become law.

Romney Aides Should Read Bush Aide's Memoir on Supreme Court Appointments

A Bush White House insider's memoir discusses a source of electoral energy untapped so far this year. Mitt Romney could have an entirely new route to win votes away from Barack Obama if he talks to the voters about the Supreme Court and federal judges.

Tim Goeglein was the White House liaison to the conservative movement. He's written a book--The Man in the Middle--recounting many interesting stories of the life of a Christian conservative in President George W. Bush's White House.

If there's one criticism of the book, it's that there are no scandalous details. There are stories that could be told about a number of the individuals discussed in the books that would make for interesting reading, but Goeglein doesn't go there.

Mrs. Clinton also condemned the mobs' actions, including the murders of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans, saying that such violence is never justified.
