Already, the media and the left are in full denial, probably based on their general lack of understanding of theology. This would have been a gaffe had Mitt Romney said it. But with Barack Obama, he's just speaking bold truths. His bold truth declares that the future does not belong to practicing Christians.

So that no one can claim we're taking him out of context, I've got all the details and context right here.

Study: 'The Hope and the Change' Broadcasts Could 'Change the Election'

"The Hope and the Change" started to air on cable and broadcast television stations last week (including on HD Net on Sunday), and a recent focus group conducted by Luntz Global found the documentary could "change the election." 

In an election in which there are fewer undecided voters than before, it postulated, the best way to persuade those voters is by putting people like them on the television screen.  

"If your goal is to change the outcome on Election Day, only one documentary truly accomplishes that goal," Luntz Global wrote in a memo. 

Luntz Global showed the movie to a group of 30 people, and after post-viewing interviews, the firm determined this one documentary "has the power and potential to truly change minds - and votes" and "moves the people who are truly undecided in the election."

The memo determines "The Hope and The Change" is "a potential game changer that can win critical swing voters," because the film "deploys the single best method for persuading voters who chose Obama in 2008 to vote against him in 2012: it uses their own voices." 

The Mitt Romney campaign is also realizing the effectiveness of this approach. On Monday, they released an online video titled "No, I can't," which portrays disaffected college students who voted for Obama and his promises of "hope and change" in 2008 and will not do so in 2012.

More than a third of the 30 swing voters in the focus group said they were "very much more likely to vote against Obama" after seeing the "The Hope and the Change," and 23 of 30 voters said it made them at least a little more likely to vote against him." 

The memo notes that "swing voters don't trust anyone -- except themselves -- in today's environment," and "The Hope and the Change," by "allowing them to see themselves on screen," is persuasive. 

According to the research, 29 of 30 voters said that it was even more persuasive than they expected it to be, and 21 of 30 voters said it was "a lot more persusasive" than they expected.

Asked about their impressions of the film, one person in the focus group said, "I can see myself in the film." 

Another said: "I'm a business person and when I see their faces they remind me of people I have had to let go over the years."

One participant also said, after watching the film, "the presidency is a much higher calling than a rock star or a celebrity."

Others expressed a sense of somber and sadness:

"The single most important thing that I took away from that movie was how very very sad,heartbroken and torn up inside our America is. This is what we are now working through."

"Looking at the families on that film, we're all suffering. I live in my house with three generations of my family because the ones that have moved in with me can't make it. We have to vote for the right candidate to help these younger people."

And one viewer in the focus group cried in front of strangers because the movie reminded him of his family:

"I can relate to the guy (in the film) who is living on his mother-in-law's couch in reverse. Meaning, I work three jobs and I had to put my mom, my dad and my handicapped sister in my house with me because they can't make it on their own, and I can't make it on my own with a mortgage. 

I work three jobs and I can relate to those tears because those tears come every damn night!"

Luntz Global noted that only one person in the group of 30 thought the film was "too one-sided," calling it "incredible." They said this is why the design of the film is "backfire proof," because "in this election, credibility is king."  

The mainstream media will not interview disaffected 2008 Obama voters because it will reflect poorly on Obama, but "The Hope and the Change" -- or even commercials for the movie -- could go over the heads of the liberal media by persuading disaffected Democrats and independent swing voters. They will directly see and hear voters that sound like them and share their hopes, fears, and disappointments.

It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

Dear Friend and Patriot Leader,

As you know too well, unless our friends who fear God, respect our constitution and love freedom unite now and vote in this upcoming election, we will lose the America we have known. Yet remarkably, 15-30% of self-identified Christians are not even registered to vote. If even a small percentage of those joined the fight, it could make the difference in the 2012 election. Making this happen is my highest priority, and once again I need your help.

At the Pennsylvania Pastors' Network (PPN), we have been working very aggressively with pastors across the commonwealth. We're calling on them to stand boldly at the pulpit, preach the truth, and teach the Scripture as it addresses the intersection of policy and Christian culture. At the same time, I'm encouraging them to urge their members to register to vote, and to vote biblically and constitutionally on Election Day. PPN has just embarked on a mass Christian voter registration effort, called  "From Pews to Polls -An Initiative to Protect Religious Freedom in America." We want to reach into every church in Pennsylvania and enlist thousands of new voters. This is where you can help in an easy, but very big way.

First, I need your help to identify churches and pastors. If they believe in the authority of Scripture and that our rights come from God not government, we want to work with them. • Early Voting Information - We will provide information and assistance in helping members of your congregation to vote by Absentee Ballot if they cannot be physically present on Election Day in November.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

Are You Registered to Vote? Do You Have a Photo ID? Do They Match?

According to the U.S. Constitution all American citizens 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, color, religion, or creed, whether male or female, have the right to vote.  However, voting in Pennsylvania this year will be a bit more complicated than prior years due to the new Voter ID law.  A dedicated group of Main Line citizens are doing what they can to make sure that you can exercise that right on November 6th. 

A small table located at Gateway Shopping Center (near Trader Joes and Great Earth Vitamins) is staffed with volunteers on weekends who will assist you by:

• Providing voter registration forms
• Helping people to complete their voter registration form
• Providing absentee ballot application forms and completion instructions
• Providing up to date information on the voter ID requirements

Additionally, if anyone has a question that the volunteer on duty is unable to answer, we will take their name, email address and/or phone number and get back to the questioner with an answer.

The table will be staffed every Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm and every Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm now thru October 7th.

We recommend that everyone check to make sure that (1) you are still registered to vote and that (2) your voter registration name exactly matches your name on the photo ID that you plan to use on Election Day.  To confirm that you are registered, go to www.can9/10/12ivote.org . Select Pennsylvania; then click on Find Voter Registration Status.  Entering your personal data will allow you to confirm that you are registered and provide you with the address of your polling place.

Some may question whether citizens in our area really need help in registering to vote.  When this service was provided in 2008 over 1000 people registered at the table!  Volunteers assisted citizens from the 5-county Philadelphia area and Lancaster, Berks, and Lehigh Counties. 

Key dates for this fall's election are:

10/9 - last day that Voter Registration forms will be accepted by Voter Services

10/30 - last day that Absentee Ballot applications will be accepted by Voter Services

11/2 - last day that completed Absentee Ballots will be accepted by Voter Services

11/6 - Election Day

IF you have ever wondered if your smart meter is being used to spy on you, well now there is proof that governments and private organisations are using data collected from smart meters to spy on you.

Information about power usage, which can be used to identify when a home is being occupied, is being shared with third parties of which includes government agencies, private organisations and off-shore data processing centres.

This unethical breach of privacy was discovered on the website of one of Australia's largest electricity retailer, Origin Energy.

Electricity customers, who sign up for an online service that provides the account holder with detailed information about their electricity usage, are unwillingly agreeing to share their private information with third parties.

1. 25 Years of the Media Research Center

In 1992, Andrew Rosenthal of the New York Times wrote a story about President George H. W. Bush expressing surprise at a common supermarket checkout scanner. The story was picked up by major publications and editorialists across the country as a common narrative that George H. W. Bush, a World War II veteran, Ambassador to China, CIA Chief, Vice President, and President had grown out of touch with America during his time in Washington.

The story about George H. W. Bush and the supermarket scanner is still picked up and recycled as a cautionary tale in growing out of touch in Washington.

4. Undoing the Food Stamp Presidency

Shortly after the November elections, Congress will reconvene for the lame duck session and consider the farm bill at the behest of a bipartisan coalition of statists.  The farm bill is really a food stamp bill.  The House version (H.R. 6083) authorizes $957 billion in spending over 10 years, $756 billion of which will be spent on food stamps and other nutrition programs. Our Dependency Addiction

For most of American history, the average farmer, shop owner, or entrepreneur could live an entire life without getting much from the federal government except mail service. But those days have gone the way of the Pony Express.

Last year, the Wall Street Journal reported that 49 percent of the population lives in a household where at least one person gets some type of government benefit. The Heritage Foundation's annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks government spending and creates a weighted score adjusted for inflation of federal programs that contribute to dependency. It reports that in 2010 67.3 million Americans received either welfare, Social Security, support for higher education, or other assistance once considered to be the responsibility of individuals, families, neighborhoods, churches, and other civil society institutions-an 8 percent increase from the year before.

These people aren't necessarily dependent on government; many could live (even live well) without their Social Security check, Pell grant, or crop subsidy. That's not the point. The problem is that Washington is building a culture of dependency, with ever-more people relying on an ever-growing federal government to give them cash or benefits.

This is a growing and dangerous trend.

The United States thrives because of a culture of opportunity that encourages work and disdains relying on handouts. The growth of the welfare state-a confusing alphabet soup of programs and entitlements such as Social Security or Medicare that are supposed to help low-income Americans make ends meet and do not-is turning us into a land where many expect and see no stigma attached to drawing regular financial support from the federal government.

Consider means-tested social welfare programs. The federal government operates at least 80 programs that provide assistance deliberately and exclusively to poor and lower-income people. The benefits include cash, food, housing, medical care, and social services.

Yet when poverty expert Robert Rector examined these anti-poverty programs, he found that only two, the earned income tax credit and the additional child refundable credit, require recipients to actually work for their benefits. Earlier this year, the Obama administration set aside the most well-known welfare work requirements, those specifically written into the 1996 Temporary Assistance to Needy Families law (TANF). The Department of Health and Human Services announced that the law's clearly stated work requirements are no longer binding on state governments.

And while federal spending on the TANF program in particular has dropped, spending on means-tested aid in general (e.g. food stamps) has soared year after year and decade after decade. Adjusting for inflation and population growth, the U.S. now spends 50 percent more on means-tested cash, food, and housing than it did when Bill Clinton promised to "end welfare as we know it." Simply put, welfare spending has exploded and continues to grow.

Under a culture of dependency, poverty becomes a trap, and recipients get stuck. Long-term welfare recipients lose work habits and job skills and miss out on the marketplace contacts that lead to job opportunities. That's a key reason the government should require welfare recipients to work as much as they can. What could be called "workfare" thus tends to increase long-term earnings among potential recipients.

Another problem is that we simply can't afford all this spending.

The national debt is at $16 trillion, more than the entire GDP of the United States last year. High as it is, that debt is about to soar. More than 78 million baby boomers are retiring on to Social Security and Medicare in the next 15 years, or so. Under Obamacare, Medicaid is set to explode as well. Within just one generation, total federal spending could reach nearly 36 percent of GDP, and the Congressional Budget Office says debt held by the public could reach nearly 200 percent of GDP.

That will crowd out virtually all other government spending, including national defense. Future Congresses could impose deep cuts in social welfare programs across-the-board or raise massive taxes to support these exploding programs. The results would be chaotic and unpredictable.

It doesn't have to be this way.

We can reduce dependency on government and focus benefits on those who are truly needy. For example, by including work requirements and promoting marriage (being raised in a married family slashes a child's chances of being in poverty by 80 percent), we'll help rekindle the American Dream for everyone.

All poverty programs should be reviewed to make certain they're helping people instead of harming them. Welfare should help people up, not hold them down.

No Business Like Gov Business

As the great anchor of the election hits bottom, plummeting past feeder fish, political plankton and eyeless creatures that lurk in the depths of MSNBC and Current TV to rise during election season to lecture us on how angry we should be, the theme of the season is that the choice between Romney and Obama is the choice between big corporations and big government.

Most people have already been primed by decades of songs and shows to pick the right answer to this one. We know that corporate boardrooms are full of menacing characters who are always laundering money, dumping toxic waste on children's playgrounds and plotting to blot out the sun. And then they temporarily step out to work in government for a few years before returning to do their sun-blotting duties.

A choice between big corporations and big government is a choice of choices and no choice at all. There isn't much good that can be said about corporations, just as there isn't much good that can be said about any branch of the government. The difference is that you have a choice whether to deal with a corporation or not. Unless the government mandates that you buy health insurance from one of them; because most cases where people are forced to do business with a corporation is due to government regulations.
 

A case for supporting Todd Akin: there are no grounds for trading down

First some full disclosure: When Congressman Todd Akin made his now famous "remark" regarding a female rape victim's physiological reaction to her violation I was one of those who called for him to give up his challenge to Democrat Claire McCaskill the Missouri Senator who was widely viewed as a dead duck. McCaskill is seen as the face of Obamacare in the Show me State and earlier a statewide referendum on Obamacare had crashed and burned 71/29.  Moreover no honest person thinks Missouri is a state where Barack Obama will even do well let alone win and help down ballot Democrats.

At the time of the "remark" Republican Akin was about 10 points up even in widely available polls. Shortly afterward he dropped to being down about 10 points but subsequent polls have shown Akin closing the gap. The most recent survey, done Sept 11 by Rasmussen shows Akin trailing by just 6 ... During the Revolution, John Marshall fought under Washington and endured the freezing winter at Valley Forge.

The Liberty Bell, according to tradition, cracked tolling at John Marshall's funeral, July 8, 1835.

During the lead up to the Senate vote on Obamacare all eyes were on a few rare Democrats who Pro-Lifers hoped would stand up against the Democrats' culture of death and vote NO because of the sections mandating faith based hospitals to commit abortions.

Pennsylvania Democrat Senator and putative Catholic Bob Casey was one of those quislings who talked a good game about being as pro-life but ultimately became the 60th and decisive vote to pass Obamacare. By doing this Casey forced his Church, the Roman Catholic Church, to face either closing its hospitals or knuckling under and committing abortions.

Obama vs. The Constitution

The Constitution was written by our Founding Fathers with the purpose of limiting government's power. They had just thrown off the yoke of the British crown and did not want to create another government that could exert excessive control over the people. In their wisdom, the Founders created a system of checks and balances that makes America unique by dispersing power. Throughout America's history, politicians of both parties have recognized the genius of this system and respected its boundaries.

What about Barack Obama?

• The Constitution as "fundamentally flawed" -- During a 2001 interview with WBEZ, a Chicago public radio station, Obama made some shocking statements about the Constitution and his view of government. Specifically Obama suggested that the Constitution reflects the "fundamental flaw" of this country -- slavery and racism -- and added that this flaw "continues to this day."[1] Obama continued:

"Generally, the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can't do to you. Says what the federal government can't do to you, but doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf."[2]

That is because the Founding Fathers were trying to protect the people from the creation of an authoritarian state. They did not want to create a government big enough to give you everything you want, because, as the saying goes, such a government would be big enough to take everything you have.

What is Obama's solution for solving America's "fundamental flaw"? Socialism and government-imposed redistribution of wealth. Obama goes on to fault the civil rights movement for not sufficiently engaging in "community organizing:"

"One of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil-rights movement was ... that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change." [3]

That is Obama's philosophy: America and our Constitution are "fundamentally flawed" and socialism is the solution. From his first day in office, Obama has governed as if the Constitution were an impediment to his efforts to "fundamentally transform" America.

• Frustrated by Checks and Balances -- In fact, Obama told NBC's Matt Lauer that our system of checks and balances has frustrated his efforts to "force" Congress to impose his agenda. In a February 2012 interview, Obama said:

"What's frustrated people is that I've not been able to force Congress to implement every aspect of what I said in 2008. Well, you know, it turns out our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like sometimes."[4]

Frustrated that he couldn't force Congress to implement every aspect of his agenda, Obama launched a campaign to circumvent Congress as often as possible with his "We Can't Wait" initiatives.[5]

• Czars Threaten Checks and Balances -- Obama began his presidency by appointing dozens of "czars" -- administration officials who directed public policy, many of whom were not subject to Senate confirmation, thereby avoiding our system of checks and balances. By one estimate, Obama has appointed 45 czars.[6] Obama's appointments of czars disturbed even some liberal Democrats like former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI).[7] The late Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) warned that Obama's use of czars "can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances."[8]
• Abusing Recess Appointments -- In addition to czars, Obama has abused his power of recess appointments. Recess appointments are legal and permissible, so that the president can keep the executive branch functioning at all times. Presidents of both parties have used recess appointments to temporarily avoid controversial confirmation battles. However, Obama disregarded the Constitution and the separation of powers when he made a series of recess appointments in early January when the Senate was not technically in recess.[9]

In addition to pushing the limits of his authority, Obama has blatantly disregarded, circumvented and, perhaps, even broken the law on several occasions.

• Libya and the War Powers Resolution -- When Barack Obama decided to commit U.S. forces to the overthrow of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, he triggered a law known as the War Powers Resolution. Passed over Richard Nixon's veto in 1973, the War Powers Resolution was intended to serve as a check on the president's authority to commit U.S. forces to hostilities without congressional approval. It specifies that U.S. forces can be engaged for no more than 90 days without congressional authorization. Ignoring the legal opinions of top lawyers at the Justice Department and the Pentagon, Obama redefined "hostilities," decided that the War Powers Resolution did not apply and thus did not seek Congress' approval when he committed U.S. forces to the NATO effort in Libya. [10]
• Redefining Marriage -- As head of the executive branch of government, the president is entrusted with the responsibility to enforce the laws passed by Congress. The Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage in federal law as the union of one man and one woman, overwhelmingly passed Congress in 1996 -- 342-to-67 in the House and 85-to-14 in the Senate. It was signed into law by Bill Clinton.[11] Since then, the voters of 31 states have passed constitutional amendments protecting traditional marriage.
  
  Yet in February 2011, Barack Obama ignored Congress and the voters, assumed the powers of the Supreme Court and ordered his Justice Department to cease defending the Defense of Marriage Act.[12]
• Assaulting Religious Liberty -- In January 2012, the Obama Administration finalized an Obamacare mandate requiring almost all employers, including religious institutions and charities, to cover contraception, sterilization and other products or services that many faith-based organizations find morally objectionable.[13] For the first time in our nation's history, the government was claiming the authority to narrowly define religious institutions, as well as the authority to compel them to violate their core values. In response, Archbishop Timothy Dolan said:

"To force American citizens to choose between violating their consciences and forgoing their healthcare is literally unconscionable. ...The government should not force Americans to act as if pregnancy is a disease to be prevented at all costs." [14]

Dolan was joined in his criticism of the mandate by the leaders of evangelical, Protestant and Jewish organizations. Below are excerpts of statements by other religious organizations:

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod:

"This action by HHS will have the effect of forcing many religious organizations to choose between following the letter of the law and operating within the framework of their religious tenets." [15] 

The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America:

"In declining to expand the religious exemption within the healthcare reform law, the Obama Administration has disappointingly failed to respect the needs of religious organizations such as hospitals, social welfare organizations and more." [16]

The National Association of Evangelicals:

"No government has the right to compel its citizens to violate their conscience.  The HHS rules trample on our most cherished freedoms and set a dangerous precedent." [17]

An open letter from leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention:

"The federal government's decision is a flagrant violation of the First Amendment's free exercise clause protections enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. ... In the draft of the Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom (1779), [Thomas] Jefferson wrote, 'To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.' The Obama administration's mandate on contraception coverage is a blatant and outrageous encroachment on religious freedom." [18]

In May, scores of Catholic dioceses and other institutions filed a dozen federal lawsuits seeking to overturn the mandate. [19] The lawsuits were joined by evangelical institutions such as Wheaton College, Biola University, Grace College and others. [20] Potentially facing fines of more than $1 million a day, the Christian-owned-and-operated company Hobby Lobby joined the law suits in September. [21]

• Granting Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants -- Obama has also chosen to ignore certain immigration laws. In June, Obama once again ignored Congress and issued an executive order essentially making parts of the DREAM Act law, even though it had repeatedly failed to pass Congress.[22] Obama's order permits certain illegal immigrants to remain in the country and avoid deportation, amounting to a de facto amnesty.[23] In August, 10 immigration and Border Patrol agents filed suit claiming Obama's order:

"commands ICE officers to violate federal law ... unconstitutionally usurps and encroaches upon the legislative powers of Congress, as defined in Article I of the United States Constitution, and violates the obligation of the executive branch to faithfully execute the law, as required by Article II, Section 3, of the United States Constitution." [24]

• Waiving Welfare's Work Requirements -- In July, Obama's Department of Health and Human Services announced that it was inviting the states to seek waivers from the 1996 welfare reform law that requires welfare recipients to work in order to receive benefits. According to the HHS memo, states could seek waivers to "test alternative and innovative strategies."[25] However, according to Robert Rector, one of the principle architects of the 1996 Welfare Reform law, the work requirements are not waivable:

"Today the Obama Administration issued a new directive stating that the traditional TANF work requirements can be waived or overridden by a legal device called the section 1115 waiver authority under the Social Security law (42 U.S.C. 1315). ...

"But this is not an open-ended authority: Any provision of law that can be waived under section 1115 must be listed in section 1115 itself. The work provisions of the TANF program are contained in section 407... Critically, this section, as well as most other TANF requirements, are deliberately not listed in section 1115; they are not waiveable." [26]

Moreover, the Government Accountability Office declared on September 4th that HHS did not have the authority to issue waivers without first submitting its proposed regulations to Congress.[27] The welfare reform act passed Congress on a final vote of 328-to-101 in the House and 78-to-21 in the Senate. It was signed into law by Bill Clinton, a Democrat. According to a July Rasmussen poll, 83% of Americans support the law's work requirement. Just 7% oppose it.[28]

Obama's U.N. Speech

Isn't it funny how everyone tells us that Obama is in the driver's seat, while Romney is floundering, sounding radical and ignorant on foreign policy? But what happened today?

Addressing the United Nations this morning, Obama said, "There are no words that excuse the killing of innocents. There is no video that justifies an attack on an embassy." Precisely!

After two weeks of apologizing and saying that the film provoked the rioting, Obama tried to steal the position that Mitt Romney and conservatives have been arguing.

But even during a speech in which Obama was trying to sound tough, his worldview slipped through when just moments before, he said, "I know that not all countries in this body share this understanding of the protection of free speech."

Here we go again. It's all moral relativism. In the United States, we protect speech. In China, in Cuba, in the so-called Muslim world, it's a completely different standard that affords no protection at all to those who dare to speak up. Does Obama think banning speech that is offensive to Islam is okay so long as the jihadists don't kill anyone? He seemed to leave the door open to that prospect.

By the way, as you may know, Barack Obama has refused to use his time in New York to meet with other foreign leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Yet he does have time to be "eye candy" on "The View." An Obama aide explained it this way to the New York Times: "Look, if he met with one leader, he would have to meet with 10."

Isn't that what we pay him for? If Mr. Obama isn't up for the job, as his record clearly demonstrates, then we need to fire him on November 6th!


Ahmadinejad Attacks Christianity

Did you see that Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, used his address at the United Nations yesterday to assert that Israel, meaning Jews, has no roots in the Middle East? Don't miss the significance of his charge.

It is part of an insidious campaign to deny Jewish claims to Israel. If the Jews have no history there, then the Western Wall cannot be part of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem was never David's City. It's all part of an effort to claim Jewish and Christian holy sites as Muslim holy sites.

But if Jews were never in Jerusalem, then there could be no Jesus. Ahmadinejad is telling Christians everywhere that their faith is built on a lie.

Here's another lie we must constantly refute: The temptation to abandon Israel as just a "Jewish problem." There are those who say, "If we would only leave Israel alone, we could make a separate peace with Muslims; they hate us because of Israel."

My friends, never forget that the radical Islamists call America, not Israel, "the Great Satan." Israel is on the front line in the war for Western Civilization. But America is also a prime target of those would see Islam and Sharia law imposed on the world.

Madonna Endorses Obama

[WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE]

When Obama spoke at the U.N. today, he made a point of describing himself as a Christian. (He also said, "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.") Whoever in his campaign is in charge of managing the odd assortment of movie stars and celebrities who support him had better give Madonna a call.

She was in Washington, D.C., last night and wowed the crowd with this statement, "Y'all better vote for f--king Obama, OK? For better or for worse, all right? We have a black Muslim in the White House!" You can watch it here.

Failing Our Children

The average critical reading score on the SAT test for graduating high school seniors fell this year to the lowest level since 1972. The average writing score fell to its lowest level since 2006. These dismal results come despite massive increases in education spending in recent years.

Of course, a number of liberal apologists are blaming the poor results on cultural biases in the exam, which discriminate against minority and poor children. But nobody in this administration wants to address the bigger problem facing minority and poor children -- the breakdown of the family!

Ann Coulter on 'Hannity': Conservative Racism Is "A Lie Hoisted on America By White Liberals"

On last night's 'Hannity,' author Ann Coulter took on a subject that Sean called one which "conservatives rarely want to bring up" - race. Coulter, however, dug into it on the show, just as she does in her latest book - 'Mugged.'

Coulter recounted some of the most notable political speeches and remarks made since the 1970s which she says served to further perpetuate the "lie" of racism in America. According to Hannity, the use of the "race card" in tying Republicans and conservatives to racism has been largely "effective" - a notion Coulter emphatically agreed with.

 

"Yes, because Democrats are demagogues - they are always appealing to a mob, ginning people up with lies and anger," she said, later adding on the issue of racism in the U.S., "It's a lie hoisted on America by white liberals, not black people."

 

Hannity said the 2012 election cycle has included a narrative in which not voting for Obama, belonging to the Tea Party, opposing Obamacare, supporting voter ID laws and more mean being termed a racist.

 

"Whites being bullied by racism [from] white liberals ... has never led to anything good. White guilt has produced mistake after mistake, including the 2008 election, when more whites voted for Obama than had voted for a Democrat in a decade."

"60 Minutes" Contrast Between Romney, Obama on Entitlements

The official, head-to-head debates begin next week, but Sunday's "60 Minutes" appearances by President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) provided a contrast in the ideas offered on the nation's entitlements and spending crisis.

For his part, the President punted on a serious question about the nation's concern over spending-blaming everything on President George W. Bush. Instead of addressing the spending question, he waited for the next question about the national debt, which has increased more than 50 percent since he took office. Then came the familiar refrain of why he's not responsible for Washington's overspending or the country's abysmal fiscal situation:

When I came into office, I inherited the biggest deficit in our history. And over the last four years, the deficit has gone up, but 90 percent of that is as a consequence of two wars that weren't paid for, as a consequence of tax cuts that weren't paid for, a prescription drug plan that was not paid for, and then the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

These continued excuses ignore the massive increases since the President took office. According to Heritage expert Emily Goff: By fiscal year 2008, the deficit had reached $458.6 billion. The deficit was increasing as Obama came into office, mainly driven by the recession and the first wave of TARP bailouts. But his Administration's massive stimulus bill sent spending into overdrive and led to a record $1.4 trillion deficit for fiscal year 2009. Deficits have stayed at more than $1 trillion each year since then.

America's entitlement programs are the major driver of out-of-control spending. Without reform, they would push federal spending to nearly 36 percent of the economy within a generation. Debt held by the public would explode to nearly 200 percent. Serious structural reforms are inevitable-it is merely a question of how we change what we are doing.

In his "60 Minutes" interview, Obama glossed over Obamacare's cuts to Medicare and the resulting costs for seniors.

Romney, when asked how he would change Social Security, first made clear there should be no changes to benefits for those in or near retirement.

But he went on:

What I'd do with Social Security is say this: that again, people with higher incomes won't get the same high growth rate in their benefits as people with lower incomes. People who rely on Social Security should see the same kind of growth rate they've had in the past. But higher income folks would receive a little less.

As Heritage expert Alison Fraser explains, Social Security is already income-adjusted today. This is called means testing. Benefits are capped for high-income earners, and the calculation of initial benefits a new retiree receives is based on his or her past income. Upper-income retirees pay a much higher tax than those with lower incomes. Romney proposes to extend this income adjusting so that upper-income retirees receive a bit less than they do now.

While many politicians claim that the only way to address entitlements is to raise taxes or cut benefits, expanding means testing is a serious and sound way to pursue reform.

These kinds of solutions can be found in Saving the American Dream, Heritage's blueprint for solving our spending and debt crises. Saving the American Dream lays out solutions like slowly moving to a flat Social Security benefit that keeps seniors out of poverty, means testing Social Security so that very affluent seniors have a reduced benefit, and moving to a more robust means-tested premium support mechanism for Medicare that offers seniors choice and control over their health dollars and better health outcomes.

Without reforms, entitlement programs will push spending to untenable levels and put undue pressure on vital areas of government such as national defense. The Obama Administration's comments about reform, like "now is not the time" for fixing Social Security and the need for a "balanced approach," have been proven hollow by its push for tax hikes on job creators. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem, and the longer Washington wastes time, the harsher the changes will have to be.

This debate is vital. To save the American economy and sustain the safety net for those who need it, spending must be reined in and entitlement programs must be reformed.

"Obviously the Romney campaign needs to get in touch with the grassroots perspective in The Patriot Post if they are going to win this election. Mark Alexander, in 'The ObamaNation Plantation -- Outing Obama's Socialist Political Agenda' prescribed exactly what Romney, et al., should be shouting from the mountaintops, in response to Romney's so-called 'gaffe' about government dependence. Alexander wrote: 'Though Romney's assertion that most Obama supporters are government dependents has generated a flood of faux-outrage on the Left, their underlying indignation is more accurately rooted in the fact that Romney did not declare that ALL Americans are dependent on government. That is precisely what Obama himself recently proclaimed in his now-infamous assertion, "You didn't build that. Somebody else [read: 'government'] made that happen."' "Five years ago, when Mark Alexander referred to then-candidate Barack Obama as an 'ideological socialist,' I thought that was too strident. Four years ago when Alexander took Obama to task for declaring his intent to 'fundamentally transform the United States of America,' I thought that was a stretch. Three years ago when Alexander outlined Obama's economic strategy to 'break the back of free enterprise,' I thought for sure any such plan would have already been exposed by conservative think tanks. Two years ago when Alexander asserted that Obama was 'the most dangerous threat to Liberty of any president in the history of our Republic,' I thought that was too discordant and disrespectful of the office of president. Last year, when Alexander wrote about the Left's agenda to completely undermine our Constitution, I thought that could never happen. This week, in his essay 'The ObamaNation Plantation,' Alexander concluded, 'The good news is that if Obama's re-election serves as the tipping point for that plunge [into tyranny], there is always the option of restoring Liberty by bullets when ballots fail -- the notion that the ballot box is not the only path to restoring Liberty may make some in our Patriot ranks uncomfortable. But that must be all the more motivation for every one of us to contribute the utmost of our time, talent and treasure toward ensuring an electoral outcome that restores our heritage of God-given Essential Liberty.' President Obama spoke at the United Nations today and gave one of his classic apology tour speeches. He spent a lot of time condemning the poorly made YouTube video that even the administration admits was not the cause of the Libyan terrorist attack. Team Obama: Yeah, women don't care about the last 4 years

Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter made quite a shocking claim during a recent interview when she said that women don't really care about what has happened in the last four years. She went on to say that women only care about what happens next. Insulting the intelligence of women is certainly one way to ignore one of the worst first terms in Presidential history.
