Source: State Department Considering Talks to Transfer 'Blind Sheikh' to Egypt

The U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as "the Blind Sheikh," for humanitarian and health reasons, a source close to the the Obama administration told TheBlaze.

 

The Department of Justice, however, told TheBlaze that Rahman is serving a life sentence and is not considered for possible "release." Previous calls to the State Department were referred to the Department of Justice and so far, the State Department has neither confirmed nor denied the report.

 

Glenn Beck revealed the controversial news on his show Monday.

 

The Blind Sheikh is currently serving a life sentence in American prison for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but the newly-elected Islamist government in Egypt has been actively petitioning his release. Many have pinpointed a cause of last week's unrest in in the country to be protests over the Blind Sheikh's release - not an anti-Muslim YouTube video.

 

Citing the handling of the current crisis in the Middle East, and the administration's explanation that an anti-Islamic video is to blame, Beck warned that the administration may be trying to initiate a "Bubba effect."

 

"If this is true...I believe this administration is trying to initiate a 'Bubba effect,'" he explained. "That is, the average person turning against the government, collectively...because no one trusts them."

Kicks Off Nationwide With Release Of Documentary Short Film Titled "Dishonorable Disclosures"

Former CIA and Special Operations members are announcing the creation of OPSEC, a new nationwide public campaign to combat the spike in leaks and politicization of Intelligence and Special Operations missions that threaten their effectiveness and the safety of Americans who conduct them. OPSEC - short for Operational Security, meaning to eliminate or reduce the exploitation of critical information - will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a new documentary short film highlighting the problem from the perspective of those who have served in these critical positions. The film will also serve as the basis for a TV and online advertising effort.

"Intelligence and Special Operations members are angry and frustrated at how our work has been used for political advantage by officials across government, including President Obama himself who bears special responsibility as Commander in Chief," said Scott Taylor, chairman of OPSEC and a former Navy SEAL. "We want the American people to understand the cost of these leaks and politicization both on those who serve and on our national security and to hold those in positions of leadership accountable if it doesn't stop."

OPSEC is made up of individuals who served their country in the CIA, and Special Operations Forces (SOF) consisting of Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces, Marine Corps and Air Force Special Operations. It is organized as a 501(c)(4) nonpartisan public education campaign and is independent of any political party or campaign organization.

The campaign will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a documentary short film that views the impact of the increasing number of leaks on Intelligence and Special Operations missions, tradecraft, tactics and capabilities from the perspective of those who have relied on these tools to carryout similar missions and protect themselves and those they served alongside. The film will be shown at events in key states across the country over the next several months, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada. PS: Like most Navy officers, the date of June 15, 1985, is seared in my memory. That's the date Islamic terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847 and brutally tortured Navy Seabee Robert Stethem to death. Political Currency

This legislation, which remains unpopular with seniors, cuts Medicare, cripples Medicare Advantage, establishes a "Medicare IRS", and generally provides for a bureaucratic takeover of important health care decisions - all unpopular with seniors.

The tour is a project of the 60 Plus Association.

New Host Church Requested for Replacement
of Whippany, New Jersey Event

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the venue for the Whippany, NJ event needs to withdraw from being our host on Wednesday, September 26^th.

The event world is full of surprises. Cancellations happen. This is a fact of life unfortunately.

Because we have already made travel arrangements, we would still like to be in the New York area and we are looking for a church that would be willing to host us for the same date. We also realize that so many of you have already made arrangements to attend.

We need a church with an average attendance of at least 500 on a Sunday morning. If you have a New York City area pastor who is willing to host us on September 26^th, please email us at events@actforamerica.org no later than Monday, September 17^th.

He was the first to admit, a lot of last night's show was something you had heard before - but it's important to start at the beginning and to make sure you know what you believe before you get put into action. And tonight, Glenn revealed ways for you to really get moving! 

Tonight, the focus of the show was "Activate" - and it was all about the election and how you can make sure that one way or another - 2012 is a year for a mandate for or against the progressives. And if you think it doesn't matter just take a look at what is happening right now in Wisconsin. Progressives and unions are doing everything they can to make sure that Walker loses. It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

Dear Friend and Patriot Leader,

As you know too well, unless our friends who fear God, respect our constitution and love freedom unite now and vote in this upcoming election, we will lose the America we have known. Yet remarkably, 15-30% of self-identified Christians are not even registered to vote. If even a small percentage of those joined the fight, it could make the difference in the 2012 election. Making this happen is my highest priority, and once again I need your help.

At the Pennsylvania Pastors' Network (PPN), we have been working very aggressively with pastors across the commonwealth. We're calling on them to stand boldly at the pulpit, preach the truth, and teach the Scripture as it addresses the intersection of policy and Christian culture. At the same time, I'm encouraging them to urge their members to register to vote, and to vote biblically and constitutionally on Election Day. PPN has just embarked on a mass Christian voter registration effort, called  "From Pews to Polls -An Initiative to Protect Religious Freedom in America." We want to reach into every church in Pennsylvania and enlist thousands of new voters. This is where you can help in an easy, but very big way.

First, I need your help to identify churches and pastors. If they believe in the authority of Scripture and that our rights come from God not government, we want to work with them. If you are able to make one or more recommendations of this sort, please click here to be taken directly to our website. Once there, simply supply the requested information, and if you include his or her phone number, we will personally call that pastoror church leader.

If you'd prefer to send information to a church or pastor, please feel free to forward the letter you'll find at the bottom of this email. I sent this letter last week to roughly 2000 pastors across Pennsylvania, but there are thousands and thousands more who need to know about this. As you help us find them, you help restore our foundation. We'll be able to discreetly and confidentially determine which members of each congregation are registered to vote. This information will be sent directly to the Pastoror another church member and we will assist them in the enlistment of his congregation in reclaiming a Christian founded America. It's easy, it's confidential, and may make all the difference.

The next step will be up to you. We want to make it as easy as possible so we've done all the preparation and have absorbed all the cost in order to provide you the following:

• Online Voter Registration Drive Kit - This kit has everything you need to plan and implement a voter registration drive in your church.  September is the month to do this, as the deadline to register is the first week of October in most states. (Church organized voter registration efforts are completely legal and appropriate.)
• Registered Voter Look-Up Service - We will confidentially identify those in your church membership who are not registered to vote and return that information to you.
• Follow-Up Email - We will send or provide a template for a personal email from you or me asking unregistered members to register online or to register at a church registration drive during the month of September.
• Early Voting Information - We will provide information and assistance in helping members of your congregation to vote by Absentee Ballot if they cannot be physically present on Election Day in November.

For this reason, according to the source, American Marines were not stationed at the U.S. embassy in Tripoli or the American mission in Benghazi, as would typically have been the case. In the spirit of a "low profile," the administration didn't even want an American company in charge of private security. Blue Mountain, the British firm the State Department hired, was willing to abide by the "no bullets" Rules of Engagement (ROE), so were a logical fit for the contract. These sub-standard protections for American diplomats were signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the ROE.

In essence, the Obama Administration tasked an unarmed British firm with security responsibilities that should have been handled by armed American servicemen, and it was all approved by the Secretary of State. Needless to say, the plan failed and an Ambassador was murdered, along with several others.

As of now, the State Department has not disclosed the full State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya.

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. Are You Registered to Vote? Do You Have a Photo ID? Do They Match?

According to the U.S. Constitution all American citizens 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, color, religion, or creed, whether male or female, have the right to vote.  However, voting in Pennsylvania this year will be a bit more complicated than prior years due to the new Voter ID law.  A dedicated group of Main Line citizens are doing what they can to make sure that you can exercise that right on November 6th. 

A small table located at Gateway Shopping Center (near Trader Joes and Great Earth Vitamins) is staffed with volunteers on weekends who will assist you by:

• Providing voter registration forms
• Helping people to complete their voter registration form
• Providing absentee ballot application forms and completion instructions
• Providing up to date information on the voter ID requirements

Additionally, if anyone has a question that the volunteer on duty is unable to answer, we will take their name, email address and/or phone number and get back to the questioner with an answer.

The table will be staffed every Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm and every Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm now thru October 7th.

We recommend that everyone check to make sure that (1) you are still registered to vote and that (2) your voter registration name exactly matches your name on the photo ID that you plan to use on Election Day.  To confirm that you are registered, go to www.can9/10/12ivote.org . Select Pennsylvania; then click on Find Voter Registration Status.  Entering your personal data will allow you to confirm that you are registered and provide you with the address of your polling place.

Some may question whether citizens in our area really need help in registering to vote.  When this service was provided in 2008 over 1000 people registered at the table!  Volunteers assisted citizens from the 5-county Philadelphia area and Lancaster, Berks, and Lehigh Counties. 

Key dates for this fall's election are:

10/9 - last day that Voter Registration forms will be accepted by Voter Services

10/30 - last day that Absentee Ballot applications will be accepted by Voter Services

11/2 - last day that completed Absentee Ballots will be accepted by Voter Services

11/6 - Election Day

1. Mitt Romney's Remarks are Another Chick-Fil-A Moment

Just a few months ago, Dan Cathy of Chick-Fil-A, gave an interview to a Christian publication that asked him about the Chick-Fil-A Foundation's support of marriage. Cathy defending his position and spoke about his family's faith. CNN.com picked it up and ran a story that Cathy had come out against gay marriage.

In fact, Cathy hadn't been asked directly about gay marriage, but it was implicit in what he said. The CNN.com story swirled around the internet. Leftwingers and media mouthpieces across the country condemned Chick-Fil-A for serving bigotry on a bun. Suddenly the most controversial thing in America was two buttered buns and a pickle. Mayors were demanding Chick-Fil-A not come to their cities. Liberals were screaming about intolerance and bigotry.

Then Mike Huckabee and others declared a Chick-Fil-A Day. On the appointed day, lines of cars stretched around city blocks. Lines of people stretched across parking lots. Turns out a lot of people agreed with Dan Cathy. But it also turned out a lot of people who did not agree, but were not offended and showed up to support Chick-Fil-A.

A counter protest was held - a so called "kiss in." Few people showed up.

The Chick-Fil-A controversy animated a whole lot of people. It just turned out that the people it most animated were the people who agreed with Dan Cathy.

The Romney Ryan campaign is not in disarray. Mitt Romney is not short on money; but Obama is. This is the last line of the U.S. Constitution.

A study by Professors Donald S. Lutz and Charles S. Hyneman, titled "The Relative Influence of European Writers on Late 18th-Century American Political Thought" published in American Political Science Review, 1984, revealed that after examining nearly 15,000 writings of the 55 writers of the Constitution, including newspaper articles, pamphlets, books and monographs, that the Bible, especially the book of Deuteronomy, contributed 34 percent of all direct quotes made by the Founders.

When indirect Bible citations were included, the percentage rose even higher.

The enthusiastic celebration of Arab Spring by the American left has at last been repudiated by the gruesome realities of Islamic Jihad. Shocking News! Trade with China Supports U.S. Jobs

The presidential debate yesterday moved to trade with China, with the usual rhetorical suspects-including "outsourcing" and the "trade deficit"-taking center stage. President Obama announced that his Administration had filed a complaint against China with the World Trade Organization. But a groundbreaking new report from Heritage proves that importing goods from China supports American jobs here at home, completely turning political wisdom on its head.

Importing clothes and toys from China helps to support more than half a million American jobs, the report reveals-in stark contrast to claims that trade with China costs jobs.

Heritage's Derek Scissors, Charlotte Espinoza, and Ambassador Terry Miller analyzed data in a completely new way, showing that "the value added to imports from the time of entry into the country to the time of final purchase by consumers can be used to estimate how many jobs are being supported by imports."

When we import goods, Americans are employed in every stage of the chain that brings those goods into consumers' hands, from unloading cargo at the port to ringing up a sale at the store counter. Imports support jobs in fields like transportation, wholesale, retail, construction, and finance.

Scissors, Espinoza, and Miller conclude:

The belief that more imports equals less employment at home is false. It follows directly that the idea that trade deficits lead to higher unemployment is also false. Concern over the size of the U.S. trade deficit, and particularly its impact on jobs, is based on a misconception of the way trade affects economic activity.

Trade with other countries does affect U.S. employment. In short, more trade promotes jobs. A greater flow of trade-both in and out of America-should be the goal, because both exports and imports support jobs. It doesn't make sense to focus on whether imports or exports are larger (whether there is a trade "deficit" or "surplus") when both are having a positive impact.

As the authors put it, "The idea that millions of American jobs have been lost to China relies on bad trade numbers, bad economics, and a completely fictional view of the world."

This doesn't even address all the important effects of imports-they also expand consumer choices and affect the economy in many other ways-but it corrects the wrong ideas about the overall impact of imports on jobs.

The policy implications of these findings are clear:

[E]xpanded economic activity due to trade in both directions adds jobs. Congress and the Administration should not be fooled by claims of jobs lost due to imports. The government can best bolster the U.S. economy, and increase employment, by moving away from protectionism and toward trade liberalization.

Trading with China doesn't make the American economy a loser. On the contrary, following a policy of protectionism makes everyone a loser-including Americans in need of jobs.

Fighting the Real Threats to the American Dream

George Bernard Shaw supposedly said that England and America were "two nations divided by a common language." A similar problem applies to progressives and conservatives today.

On the Left and on the Right, everyone talks about rebuilding, saving, restoring, defending, or rescuing an American Dream that is said to be slipping, fading, eroding, or vanishing. But then the sides diverge.

Liberals redefined the American Dream along egalitarian and statist lines. The exhortation to work hard and persevere if you fail has given way to calls for greater government involvement to ensure that everyone rises in the first place. The Left's new American Dream is first and foremost about all that the federal government must do to create opportunity and ensure that incomes are distributed more equitably. Individual effort takes a back seat to government spending and cradle-to-grave entitlements.

In a new paper from Heritage, David Azerrad and Rea Hederman demolish those arguments. The left, they write, gets both the problem and its solution all wrong. Free-market economics is not about dividing up a dwindling pie, but about providing a recipe for an ever-expanding pie that can feed everyone, year-in and year-out. Those who succeed do not do so at the expense of others, but instead help create the conditions necessary for others to succeed themselves. If a company is thriving that's good for the owner, obviously, but also for the people he hires.

Therefore the real American Dream is first and foremost about hard work and the opportunities created by a free economy. Stemming from our nation's founding principles, the authors write that the recipe for the American Dream can be summed up by a simple equation:

Economic Freedom + Culture of Work = Prosperity and Opportunity   

Government has a supporting role to play for this dream to come true. It must, for example, uphold the rule of law, secure property rights, ensure access to education, and provide a safety net for those who cannot care for themselves. Still, the focus remains on the individual and his efforts to rise and help those around him do the same. Given the diversity of individual efforts, not all will succeed. Unequal results are a natural outcome of equal opportunity.

Azerrad and Hederman provide an easy way to think about the differences between left and right. On the left, the American Dream resembles an escalator. The federal government sets it up, everyone hops on and moves up without effort. But conservatives, they write, see the Dream as more like a ladder. Anyone can climb up, but doing so requires effort. And if one falls back, he can always start again.

Since liberals and conservatives disagree about what the American Dream entails, it follows that they also disagree about what threatens it. For the Left, it largely boils down to income inequality-or, to be more precise, the rise in income inequality in recent decades. As the left sees things, since some people earn more income, others have less.

For the Right, the problem encompasses a host of factors that restrict upward mobility by creating artificial barriers to advancement and eroding social capital. Here are the very real threats to the American Dream:

1.    The suffocating web of regulation and laws that flow from the limitless state and restrict opportunity;

2.    The collapse of the family and the devastating, long-lasting consequences that it has on children;

3.    The dependence fostered by the welfare state;

4.    The erosion of our culture of work and the rise of a slacker culture that disparages hard work and celebrates indolence;

5.    The failures of the public education system that deny countless children the rudimentary skills they need to move ahead in life; and

6.    The looming fiscal crisis that has already saddled the next generation with an unconscionable level of debt.

For the Left's new American Dream to deliver on its promise, America would have to be completely overhauled and the character of its citizens altered. The spirited, entrepreneurial and determinedly self-reliant citizens envisioned by the Founders of our constitutional republic would give way to timid and envious clients who increasingly turn to an omnipotent state for their well-being. That's a future we can't afford.

Words, and dreams, matter. It's imperative that the American Dream be rescued from those who would so radically redefine it.

The Latest Romney Scandal?

Listening to breathless media liberals this morning would cause you to conclude that Mitt Romney had made a horrible campaign blunder. CNBC's John Harwood suggested the race was virtually over. "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough said he was so embarrassed by Romney that he wanted to put a paper bag over his head.

So what exactly did Romney say? Here's his "controversial" statement:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what...

"These are people who pay no income tax. 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect... my job is not to worry [politically] about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

To his credit, Governor Romney is not backing off, and I hope he hangs tough. The growth of government entitlements and dependency must be defining issues in this campaign.

There is tremendous anxiety across the country that the left is building a dependent class as the foundation of its efforts to "fundamentally transform" America into a European-style socialist welfare state. This is partially what gave rise to the Tea Party movement.

Government bureaucrats are taking over health care. They are trying to tell us what to eat. They are shutting down coal plants. They are subsidizing failing alternative energy companies.

They are telling car companies to make vehicles the public doesn't want or can't afford. They are forcing churches and religious institutions to violate their core values. They are overregulating businesses to the point that many can't afford to hire and create new jobs.


What Should Romney Do Now?

Governor Romney should elaborate and make it clear that he does genuinely care about those 47%. They deserve lives of more significance and more hope of success than what the Democrats are offering.

Conservatives know how to grow the economy so that everyone can have the dignity of work and the fruits of their own labor. We know how to improve schools. We know children need mothers and fathers. Democrats, as the last four years demonstrate, only know how to grow the government -- a government that increasingly demands more and more.

Republicans don't want more poor people. We want to lift the poor out of despair and get them off welfare. It often seems that Democrats measure success by how many people they can get on the welfare rolls!

The American people are with us. A Gallup poll released yesterday found that 54% of Americans believe the government is doing too much, while 39% want government to do more. Among independents, 62% believe government is doing too much. We can win this debate!


Breaking News: More Video

More video has just been released. This time Romney is discussing the difficulty of negotiating with the Palestinians. He says:

"...the Palestinians have no interest whatsoever in establishing peace... I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel..."

Romney is right! Keep releasing the tapes!


Now Expand The Debate

It's clear from the polling data that most Americans understand the economy stinks. Obama's policies aren't working and Americans are not happy with the direction of the country. But that argument hasn't sealed the deal yet. I believe there is a way Mitt Romney can reach people who may not agree with him on tax reform.

Attack Obama on a second front -- expose Obama's radicalism on values!
