This cartoon says so much. That it does is both sad and infuriating.
Unfortunately some will never get it - like those that believe the President knew nothing of the wording in their platform, but personally came to the rescue to put the wording back in.

Morning Bell: Obama's Dismal Jobs Record
Amy Payne
September 7, 2012
The unemployment rate is now 8.1 percent, marking 43 months straight that it has stayed at 8 percent or above. At least 12.5 million Americans are out of work. Yet President Obama has been trying to convince people that he's a job-creating President.
Have 4.5 million new jobs been created under President Obama, as several speakers in Charlotte have claimed this week?
A fact check shows that under President Obama, the U.S. economy has created a net 415,000 private-sector jobs-less than 0.2 percent of the 155 million-member American workforce. But even that statistic does not tell the full story, since the workforce itself has shrunk dramatically in size since Obama took office. Labor force participation is at 63.5 percent, its lowest level since 1981. In other words, a large chunk of Americans have simply given up looking for work. A significant number are collecting disability insurance instead, according to new research from Heritage's James Sherk.
In fact, the share of the adult population with jobs has remained flat for the past two years. The only reason the unemployment rate edged down slightly in August was that fewer people looked for work and thus no longer count as unemployed. The percentage of people participating in the labor force dropped by 0.2 percent-the same amount the unemployment rate dropped. As Sherk has explained, we are in the slowest recovery in 70 years, and job creation has not recovered since the recession began in 2007.

'2016: Obama's America' Movie Is Disturbingly Necessary
August 17, 2012
This past week, "2016: The Movie" about President Barack Obama opened in the Chicago area, and I chose to get more of an education about Obama by seeing the movie. After the inundation of canned hype for the movie on conservative talk shows across the Chicago radio dial that sounded more like commercials than honest endorsements of the movie, I was skeptical of what I was going to see.
While some talk show hosts sounded like they were genuinely impressed with the documentary and honestly endorsing the film, there were those who were obviously reading a commercial script which was not coming across as sincere to the regular listener - at least not to this often-skeptical listener. Perhaps, in future promotions of the film, it would be wise to have pre-recorded commercials done by the professional commercial-makers rather than having the likes of Mark Levin and Sean Hannity doing script after script to promote the movie. After all, the listeners aren't stupid and resent any attempt at being conned. After many reads by the talk show hosts, the readings of the commercial script were no more enthusiastic than another Life-Lock commercial read - another commercial that ought to be professionally done.
Yet, I'm glad I saw the hyped-film because it was more informative than I had thought it would be and included less propaganda than I had predicted. If anything, it was nearly too informative as there was an enormous amount of information condensed into the nearly one-hour-and-a-half documentary. Fact after fact is put forth which shows that President Obama definitely has many skeletons in the closet that have not been released prior to the nation's trust in him with the Oval Office.

New Campaign launched by former CIA, Special Operations Members to combat leaks and politicization of National Security Info
Kicks Off Nationwide With Release Of Documentary Short Film Titled "Dishonorable Disclosures"
OPSEC Website: http://www.opsecteam.org/
Former CIA and Special Operations members are announcing the creation of OPSEC, a new nationwide public campaign to combat the spike in leaks and politicization of Intelligence and Special Operations missions that threaten their effectiveness and the safety of Americans who conduct them. OPSEC - short for Operational Security, meaning to eliminate or reduce the exploitation of critical information - will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a new documentary short film highlighting the problem from the perspective of those who have served in these critical positions. The film will also serve as the basis for a TV and online advertising effort.

"Intelligence and Special Operations members are angry and frustrated at how our work has been used for political advantage by officials across government, including President Obama himself who bears special responsibility as Commander in Chief," said Scott Taylor, chairman of OPSEC and a former Navy SEAL. "We want the American people to understand the cost of these leaks and politicization both on those who serve and on our national security and to hold those in positions of leadership accountable if it doesn't stop."
OPSEC is made up of individuals who served their country in the CIA, and Special Operations Forces (SOF) consisting of Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces, Marine Corps and Air Force Special Operations. It is organized as a 501(c)(4) nonpartisan public education campaign and is independent of any political party or campaign organization.
The campaign will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a documentary short film that views the impact of the increasing number of leaks on Intelligence and Special Operations missions, tradecraft, tactics and capabilities from the perspective of those who have relied on these tools to carryout similar missions and protect themselves and those they served alongside. The film will be shown at events in key states across the country over the next several months, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada. "Dishonorable Disclosures" can be seen here.
"Countless leaks, interviews and decisions by the Obama Administration and other government officials have undermined the success of our Intelligence and Special Operations forces and put future missions and personnel at risk," said Fred Rustmann, an OPSEC member and 24-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency. "OPSEC will carry a strong message across the country that it's time for President Obama and other administration officials to stop jeopardizing national security operations for political gain."
More information about OPSEC and news about the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures" can be found at http://www.opsecteam.org/.

Former Special Ops officers from four separate branches of the military have joined ranks for one specific purpose - to remove Barack Obama from office.
And now they need your help to do it.
Dear Fellow American,
During World War II, they had a poster up in every defense plant and military base in America.
It didn't mince words; it told it straight --
"Loose lips sink ships."
Well, now our nation is saddled with a Commander in Chief who just doesn't seem to get that message. Or, if he does, he simply doesn't care.
Let me lay it on the line: Barack Obama's loose lips are doing worse than sinking ships - they're putting our entire nation at risk.
And if you and I don't get this man out of office, he's going to destroy our military, undermine every ally we have, and arm our enemies to the teeth.
All for his own sorry political purposes.
That's why I am asking you to join me now in helping the Special Operations Speaks (SOS) PAC launch a nationwide campaign to remove Barack Obama from office. Before it's too late.
Demand Congress Hold the Obama 'Leakers' Accountable http://specialoperationsspeaks.com/petition/petition-ptec
PS: Like most Navy officers, the date of June 15, 1985, is seared in my memory. That's the date Islamic terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847 and brutally tortured Navy Seabee Robert Stethem to death. All he had to do was scream out for mercy, and he would have been allowed to live. But he refused to utter a sound. The pilot of Flight 847 later said, "He was the bravest man I've ever seen in my life." Bob Stethem's brother was a Navy SEAL; I know him. So, I know something of the stuff of which he was made. Warriors like him don't scream out, they don't beg for mercy, and they don't ask for help. And that's why my fellow former Special Operations officers and I are asking for your help on their behalf today. In 2008, when he was running for president, Barack Obama promised his leftwing supporters that if they helped him get elected, "I will slow the development of future combat systems." That's one of the only campaign promises he has kept. And it has placed our brave warriors in harm's way. Your gift of $25, $50, $100 - even $1,000 or more if you can possibly spare it - will help our Special Operations Speaks PAC bring an end to Barack Obama's war on the military. So, I urge you, please give as generously as you can. |
Please give your attention to this important announcement from the Senate Conservatives Fund. From time to time, we send you content on behalf of third parties we believe may be of interest to you and we believe this one deserves your attention.
Fellow Conservatives:
If you want to stop the massive growth of our federal government and save America's future, we must change the United States Senate.
Harry Reid and the Democrats control the Senate today and, unfortunately, we still have too many Republicans who lack the courage to fight for our nation's founding principles.
As a Senator who works each day to stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying our country, I can tell you that we desperately need conservative reinforcements.
This is why I founded the Senate Conservatives Fund back in 2008 and it's why SCF is working so hard today to elect a new group of leaders in 2012 who will fight to turn this country around.
Will you help change the Senate?
The Senate Conservatives Fund has endorsed eight conservative candidates who will help strip Harry Reid of control of the Senate and fight the liberal policies that are bankrupting our country.
 | Josh Mandel Ohio |
 | Jeff Flake Arizona |
 | Richard Mourdock Indiana |
 | Ted Cruz Texas |
 | Deb Fischer Nebraska |
 | George Allen Virginia |
 | Tom Smith Pennsylvania |
 | Dan Bongino Maryland |
These eight candidates are unique in that they have conservative records, have earned support from the grassroots in their states, and have the courage to stand up for our values -- even if it means going against their own party's leadership. These candidates support all of SCF's policy goals, including: - Cutting spending to balance the budget
- Repealing Obamacare entirely
- Securing the borders and oppose amnesty
- Stopping corporate bailouts
- Banning earmarks
- Establishing term limits
- Defending the 2nd Amendment
- Protecting human life
The Senate Conservatives Fund is doing two important things to help its endorsed candidates win in November. First, SCF is raising money for each of the candidates from donors all across the nation. Money alone does not win elections, but the lack of money can certainly lose them. Second, SCF is running powerful TV and radio ads to counter the opposition and drive home our side's message of economic freedom and prosperity. So if you want to do something really meaningful and effective to save our country, please support the Senate Conservatives Fund and its endorsed candidates TODAY.
Help Change the Senate ... SCF makes it possible for you to donate directly to its eight endorsed candidates so they receive 100% of your donations. This is a very unique approach for a third-party group and it shows exactly how committed SCF is to helping these candidates. It's also why the POLITICO newspaper called SCF a "wildly successful small-donor fundraising machine." These are exceptional candidates who have overcome long odds to get this far, and now they urgently need your help to win in November. Time is running out and we must work together to send true conservative leaders to Washington this year. Thank you for doing what you can to help turn this country around. Sincerely, Jim DeMint United States Senator P.S. If we're going to save America, we must fire Harry Reid and change the United States Senate. Without a conservative Senate, we'll never stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying this great country.

60 Plus "LET'S DO BETTER" TOUR
PATIENT CENTERED AFFORDABLE REFORM
The "Let's Do Better" bus tour will visit with seniors in their communities to discuss their reaction to the controversial health reform care bill passed in 2010. This legislation, which remains unpopular with seniors, cuts Medicare, cripples Medicare Advantage, establishes a "Medicare IRS", and generally provides for a bureaucratic takeover of important health care decisions - all unpopular with seniors.
The tour is a project of the 60 Plus Association.
Events surrounding the tour will include rallies, health care briefings, meet & greets, and townhall meetings. It will also feature health care experts and advocates, as well as the 60 Plus leadership team of Jim Martin, Amy Frederick, and legendary entertainer Pat Boone - who is the national spokesperson for the seniors group.
60 Plus, founded more than 20 years ago and currently supported by some 7.2 million "senior activists", is often referred to as the conservative alternative to the AARP. The group funded by voluntary donations from over a quarter-million donors and does not accept taxpayer funding, unlike the AARP.
The bus has a replica of its own AARP bumper sticker reproduced in giant letters on the outside of the bus, 'AARP: Association Against Retired Persons.' The side panels read: 'Healthcare Reform: Let's Do Better-Patient Centered, Affordable Reform.'

Sept. 11, 2012: Come to Pamela Geller's Free Speech SION event at the UN Plaza in New York City
If you're anywhere near New York on 9/11, check out this invitation to attend Pamela Geller's FREE SPEECH event
SION to Hold International Congress and Media Workshop to Address Islamic Supremacist War Against Free Speech
The world's leading forces for freedom will be there. There is a suggested contribution of $36 per person. Register now, space is limited. September 11, 2012, UN Plaza Millenium Hotel, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Email: PamelaGeller@gmail.com to register.
NEW YORK: The first session of the International Freedom Defense Congress, the operating body of the human rights organization Stop Islamization of Nations (SION), will be held in New York on September 11, 2012. The principal focus of the Congress will be a media workshop pertaining to Islamic supremacist attempts to restrict the freedom of speech in the free world, and the smear campaigns against freedom fighters in newspapers and media institutions in the West.
"The objective of this first-of-its-kind workshop is to develop media-related mechanisms to address the smear campaigns," SION said in a statement. It will also address the media's double standard regarding Islam and other religions, as epitomized in March 2012 by the New York Times' running of an anti-Catholic smear ad and rejection of a SION ad telling the truth about Islamic jihad.
It said the workshop will discuss at length the reasons behind and the results of the Western media's offensive campaigns against freedom of speech and the truth about Islam, jihad, Islamic supremacism and Muslims, which it added still occur from time to time.
"The workshop will represent a quantum leap in media action, as it discusses, beyond rhetoric, the practical steps to address the phenomenon of the Islamic war against free speech," SION President Pamela Geller said. Fighting Back in the War on Free Speech Pamela Geller, March 18, 2012
Freedom fighters from all over the globe, journalists, intellectuals and academicians will be among the participants in the workshop, which will consist of brainstorming sessions to develop mechanisms for cooperation with external partners, and to develop an action plan to address the phenomenon of the Islamic war against free speech.
The organization noted that the workshop is of particular importance as it is the first ever to address the implications of Resolution 16/18 of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the stated goal of which is to "combat intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatisation of, discrimination, incitement to violence, and violence against persons based on religion or belief," but which is actually designed to restrict truthful speech about Islamic supremacism and jihad, so as to render the West mute and defenseless before the advancing threat of jihad and Sharia.
Resolution 16/18, which was adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva in March 2011, was backed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the most recent Istanbul Process Conference in Washington in December.
This is widely viewed as a significant step toward furthering OIC efforts to destroy the freedom of speech and impose Sharia blasphemy laws on the free world.
"We are holding this Congress on the eleventh anniversary of the day jihad came to America in order to strike a blow for freedom," Geller said.
SION President Geller is the author of Stop Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance (WND Books) and The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War On America (Simon & Schuster). SION Vice President is the acclaimed author and Islam expert, Robert Spencer, author of the New York Times bestsellers, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) and The Truth About Muhammad (both Regnery).
The SION Board of Advisers also includes Oskar Freysinger, a Swiss Parliamentarian and member of the Swiss People's Party (SVP), who won international renown for his leadership of the successful campaign against the construction of minarets in Switzerland; Cliff Kincaid, editor of Accuracy in Media (AIM) and a leader of the struggle to keep the jihadist propaganda network Al-Jazeera off American airwaves; Dr. Ashraf Rameleh, President of Voice of the Copts, an international organization standing up for the human rights of Coptic Christians and all religious minorities against religious bigotry and intolerance; Dr. Ali Sina, the renowned ex-Muslim author and founder of FaithFreedom.org; Dr. Wafa Sultan, the ex-Muslim human rights activist and author; the German pro-freedom activist Stefan Herre of Politically Incorrect; the Israeli author Dr. Mordechai Kedar; the Hindu human rights activist Babu Suseelan; Anders Gravers of Stop Islamisation of Europe (SIOE); and Canadian publisher and free speech defender Ezra Levant.
Speakers at SION's International Freedom Defense Congress will include Kedar, Rameleh, Sina, Kincaid, and Gravers, as well as Danish free speech advocate Lars Hedegaard; Italian human rights activists Magdi Christiano Allam and Valentina Colombo; English politician and freedom fighter Paul Weston; and renowned Muhammad cartoonist Lars Vilks. More speakers will be announced shortly.
SION stands for:
-- The freedom of speech - as opposed to Islamic prohibitions of
"blasphemy" and "slander," which are used effectively to quash
honest discussion of jihad and Islamic supremacism;
-- The freedom of conscience - as opposed to the Islamic death
penalty for apostasy;
-- The equality of rights of all people before the law - as
opposed to Sharia's institutionalized discrimination against
women and non-Muslims.

Formation of the PA Freedom Coalition Below is a message from Diana and Don Reimer notifying the grassroots of The efforts of the PA Freedom Coalition.
Grassroots organizers from Southeast PA have put together a cohesive plan that will get voters to the polls and educate them on issues around our core values. You know them: Free markets, Fiscally responsible and Constitutionally limited government!
Flyers have been collected and designed along with scripts and door hangers. Now is your chance to volunteer!
Neighborhood walks Dates to sign up are listed below but if you are unable to make it to the sign up location on these dates don't count your self out. Just send us an email and let us know you want to help.
From Diana and Don,
Hi all This GOTV effort is open to anyone that would like to help. They do not need to be part of a tea party or other grassroots group. Please forward to your group email lists also to your friends and neighbors if you feel they might be interested in helping us win in Montgomery County PA Volunteers Needed Philadelphia Tea Party Patriots; i.e.PA Freedom Coalition needs help getting volunteers. The number of volunteers needed are 100 walkers/riders and 30 drivers with vehicles, starting Saturday, 15 September for eight consecutive Saturdays ending on November 3 rd. The volunteers will take part in an organized, planned door-knocking effort specifically to visit with registered Independents in 83 swing precincts in Montgomery county, PA. Three staging meetings for volunteer sign-ups and familiarization training are scheduled: September 4 th, Tuesday 6:00-8:30pm; September 8th and 9 th, Saturday and Sunday, Doors will be open from 1:00 to 6:00pm for individuals to come in and sign up as volunteers. Location address: Towamencin Township Municipal Center, 1090 Troxel Road Lansdale, PA 19446 Purpose and Goal Our main PURPOSE: to get as many registered Independent voters to the polls and to cast their votes on issues and policies, not parties or personalities. Our main GOAL: to achieve a conservative majority in Montgomery county for the 2012 election. A conservative win in the highly populated Montgomery county is HUGH. And this change to a conservative majority in Montgomery County is REAL. We have need of 130 volunteers to take part in this door-knocking effort for eight consecutive Saturdays to swing these 83 precincts. Why We Win In past elections held in Pennsylvania, the proof is in election results - so goes the Southeast, so goes Pennsylvania. And over the past 20 years of elections, Southeast counties; Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware have all gone Blue and Bucks county to Purple. However, in this 2012 election, we will win back Montgomery County for the conservative right. Why is our confidence high? Is it because of our organized, planned door-to door strategy? Yes. Is it our door-knocking plan - specific to targeting registered Independents in 83 swing precincts? Yes. How We Win In these swing precincts in the progressive parts of Montgomery county (closest to Philadelphia, PA), passed elections were won in 83 precincts by Democrats because of 2 votes and not greater than 119 votes; with both parties breaking even throughout the 450 precincts. Our organized, planned action brings our volunteers to visit these 83 precincts (or 1/5 of all precincts) - walk to talk to registered Independents and to place issues-based literature in their hands at their doors; for no-answers, an issue-oriented door hanger is used. We are in the process of finding funding for our project.

Chestnut Assembly of God 2554 E. Chestnut Ave. Vineland, NJ 08360 Thursday, September 27th at 7 pm

Without question, the threats radical Islam poses to America have increased. Brigitte will discuss these threats to our security and our freedoms, such as...
- The growing threat of homegrown jihad, with the number of such jihadist plots skyrocketing over the past two years.
- How terrorists are exploiting our porous southern border, often working with drug cartels.
- The increasingly militant-and successful-effort by Islamists worldwide to suppress free speech and criminalize any criticism of Islam.
- The growing Muslim Brotherhood threat and how Islamic sharia law is creeping into America.
- How the history and doctrines of Islam are being misrepresented in public school textbooks and classrooms.

Activate: How to turn the 2012 election from a close call to a mandate
Last night, Glenn focused on the importance of commitment. He was the first to admit, a lot of last night's show was something you had heard before - but it's important to start at the beginning and to make sure you know what you believe before you get put into action. And tonight, Glenn revealed ways for you to really get moving!
Tonight, the focus of the show was "Activate" - and it was all about the election and how you can make sure that one way or another - 2012 is a year for a mandate for or against the progressives. And if you think it doesn't matter just take a look at what is happening right now in Wisconsin. Progressives and unions are doing everything they can to make sure that Walker loses. It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

Dear Friends,
We have 57 days left to stop the American Nation from becoming the Obama Nation.
If we give this president four more years, he will finish the job of remolding America into a hard-core keynesian state resembling some of the most economically dependent
nations in Europe--in particular--Greece and Spain.
We do not have to travel down this road. We can change the course. You can help steer America in the right direction.
If you want an America where free enterprise is respected and ObamaCare is repealed,
and not the other way, stay in the area this summer & fall . Volunteer at Republican Victory Centers.
Attend local events promoting our region's Republican Congressional candidates--including our tri-state Republican US Senate candidates--Tom Smith (PA), Joe Kyrillas (NJ), and Kevin Wade (DE).

I have some very exciting news! Citizens United Productions has just announced an all rights distribution deal for our newest film Occupy Unmasked with Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, owned by Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner. Magnet is giving the film a limited theatrical release with VOD in late September to be followed by the DVD release. I've attached the full press release at the bottom of this email. While the Liberal establishment and mainstream media portray the Occupy Wall Street movement as organic and nonviolent, Occupy Unmasked reveals the sinister, organized, and highly orchestrated nature of its leaders and their number one goal: Not just to change government, but to destroy it. Led by hugely influential conservative visionary, the late Andrew Breitbart, Occupy Unmasked delves deep beneath the surface of the Occupy movement to show its dark anarchist roots. Behind the largely naïve students and legitimately concerned citizens looking for answers stand those who advocate the use of violence, black bloc operations, and intimidation as protest tactics - the same tactics they used during the anti-war protests of the 1960's, anti-nuclear weapons protests of the 80's, WTO protests of the 90's, and the IMF protests of recent years. Former leftists turned patriotic citizen journalists Brandon Darby, David Horowitz, Pam Keys, Anita MonCrief, Mandy Nagy, Lee Stranahan, and others take viewers into the Occupy camps around the country to see first-hand the truth of what is happening and who is at the heart of the movement. Exclusive footage and eyewitness accounts tell the story of the criminal activity and raw brutality in the camps - much of which has not been reported by the mainstream media. Directed by Stephen K. Bannon (The Undefeated, Generation Zero), Occupy Unmasked is an eye-opening look at a startling movement that could have a dangerous impact on the future of America. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS EXPLOSIVE FILM! Sincerely, David N. BossiePresident of Citizens United Executive Producer of Occupy Unmasked P.S. We continue to take pre-orders so be the first to own Occupy Unmasked on DVD by purchasing TODAY!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Magnet Releasing to Distribute Andrew Breitbart Doc OCCUPY UNMASKED New York, August 6, 2012 - The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnet Releasing announced today an all rights distribution deal for Citizens United Productions' documentary OCCUPY UNMASKED, one of the last projects featuring the late conservative icon Andrew Breitbart. OCCUPY UNMASKED was written and directed by award-winning director Stephen K. Bannon and produced by David N. Bossie. Magnet is giving the film a limited theatrical release day and date with VOD in late September. "This film is controversial, and that's exactly the reason we want to ensure it can find its audience prior to the November elections," said Mark Cuban, co-owner of Magnet. "I look forward to our partnership with Citizens United Productions and to getting this film out to the masses." OCCUPY UNMASKED takes viewers into the Occupy Wall Street camps around the country in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Portland, Denver and Oakland for an up-close look at what's happened there and who's at the heart of the movement, documenting criminal activity and raw brutality in the camps - much of which has not been reported by the mainstream media. In addition to Andrew Breitbart, the film features journalists Brandon Darby, David Horowitz, Pam Keys, Anita MonCrief, Mandy Nagy, and Lee Stranahan. "I am proud to announce that Citizens United Productions is teaming up with Mark Cuban and Magnet to distribute OCCUPY UNMASKED, and elevate the film the Left does not want the American people to see," said Producer David N. Bossie. "This distribution deal will keep the groundbreaking work of the late conservative icon Andrew Breitbart alive for years to come." "As a dear friend of Andrew's, I could not be more thrilled that this deal got completed and all Americans will have an opportunity to see one of Andrew Breitbart's final pieces of work," said writer/director Stephen K. Bannon. "This film is important because it sheds new light on the myth of the Occupy Wall Street movement. I know audiences across the country will be startled by what we uncovered in this explosive documentary." |

When you think of the great presidential debates throughout history, there's Lincoln and Douglas in 1858, Kennedy and Nixon in 1960, and then there is Glenn's new live comedy stage show, Unelectable 2012. Since Glenn couldn't personally visit every city in America on his Unelectable 2012 tour, he has decided that the final show will be simulcast LIVE in movie theaters all over the country, probably one in your town! Watch Glenn drown in his own sweat while you relax in air conditioning, eating nachos and Milk Duds. This is an amazingly funny show, the kind of presidential debate that you'll never actually see because Glenn plays a candidate who tells the truth! Joined by the writers and performers of GBTV's sketch comedy show, The B.S. of A., many are saying it could be the funniest show Glenn's ever done, and it ends with an inspiring message that will have you on your feet full of hope. It's a night of fun the whole family can enjoy! With the election season we've got in front of us, this may be the only "funny-on-purpose" thing related to politics for years to come.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE PEOPLE?
"In the United States, government requires not merely the consent of the governed. It rests ultimately on the ability of the people to govern themselves."
As the presidential election approaches, the choices before our nation have never been more critical. The final volume in the Understanding America series, What is the Role of the People?
, examines the great responsibility the Founders bestowed upon us, the American people.
The Founders built the United States on the fundamental principle that we have the right to govern ourselves. To govern effectively, we must ensure our society's continued virtue and freedom, and pass the inheritance of freedom on to each new generation.
Authored by Heritage Foundation President Edwin Feulner, this final volume in the
Understanding Americaseries explores how and why we must live up to our responsibilities in maintaining the Founders' vision. Learn more in What is the Role of the People?
For the full Understanding America series, visit heritage.org/UnderstandingAmerica. Don't miss these volumes:
What Is America's Role In the World? The United States' foreign policy exists, first and foremost, to defend the independence and interests of its people. But America also has a unique responsibility to uphold and advance the universal principles of liberty upon which it was founded. This volume provides insight into how the Founders' understanding of liberty shaped their vision for foreign policy. Read More
How Must America Practice Diplomacy? This volume in the Understanding America series examines how the principles of liberty that define America must also guide its practice of diplomacy. Read More
How Must America Balance Security and Liberty? America's Founders recognized that the nation's security and its peoples' liberty are not opposed. Rather, security is necessary for the flourishing of liberty. Since its founding, America has promoted security and protected liberty by pursuing policies that strengthen both. This volume in the Understanding America series explores the ways in which the Constitution's Framers sought to protect liberty, and shows that the goals of ensuring security and respecting liberty can and must be reconciled. The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq
Jul 18th, 2012
Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.
The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.
Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.
Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.
The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.
The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization
Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.
The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

Hillsdale's New FREE Online Course: The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism
Available to you, your family, your friends, and all Americans. Begins September 4, 2012 - Sign Up TODAY! Dear Linda, In 2012 our Constitution is under assault like never before. Even as I write, self-described Progressives are working to subvert the Constitution to replace it with an ever more expansive and intrusive bureaucratic despotism. My name is Larry Arnn and I'm the President of Hillsdale College. You might have heard Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and other conservative radio hosts talk about Hillsdale College. The ongoing radical Progressive agenda poses a serious threat to the survival of free government in our great nation. At Hillsdale, we believe that a massive, nationwide education project to promote America's founding principles is the only way to defeat this Progressive agenda. As one of our most loyal supporters, you've been an important part of Hillsdale's effort to educate Americans on the importance of preserving our Constitution. That's why I want you to be one of the first to know about our brand new online course:
"The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism."

Why is Hillsdale teaching a course on the Progressive movement?
Americans who believe in constitutional liberty and limited government need to understand what they're up against, so Hillsdale designed this course to teach Americans the history of Progressivism and how it continues to work to ignore and dismantle the U.S. Constitution. From its intellectual origins in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, to the massive government expansions under FDR's New Deal and LBJ's Great Society, to the third great expansion of big-government programs during the past three years, Progressives are making our country unrecognizable in comparison to the constitutional republic created by America's Founding Fathers. To understand fully this attack on limited government constitutionalism, and thus to know what is needed to stem the tide, take Hillsdale's new online Constitution course, which starts on September 4 and concludes the week of the national elections in November.
PLEASE GO HERE TO REGISTER NOW.
AND, like all Hillsdale online courses, it will be archived online so that you can refer back to the lectures or access them at your leisure. I have the privilege of delivering the first lecture, "The Founders' Constitution and the Challenge of Progressivism," and the final lecture, "Restoring Constitutional Government." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.
[Go here to see the course's schedule and register]
I am proud, thanks to your past support and the support of many patriotic Americans, that Hillsdale College is teaching hundreds of thousands of Americans about the Constitution and its principles of liberty. This course is crucial for all Americans who want to understand the dangers confronting the Constitution and its principles today. I hope YOU will join us for this important course! As President of Hillsdale College, I have devoted my life to education, and in particular to teaching about the American founding, its underlying principles, and subsequent constitutional history. The last chapter in that history, covering the past century, tells a story about how the progressive movement has undermined the Constitution and replaced it with a bureaucratic despotism - if we are to recover the Constitution, that story must be understood. That is why we are offering this new course, free, to all Americans.
[Please go here to enroll in our new Constitution Course: "The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism" Today]
The more than 275,000 who signed up for our first constitution course last spring prove that Americans are willing and eager to study and defend the Constitution and the principles that made our country the most free and most prosperous in human history! I hope you will sign up for our new course and help continue this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution.

With your gift of $25, I'll send you a custom-engraved blue and silver Hillsdale pen as a token of our appreciation for your support.
Your gift, of whatever amount you can provide, will help make it possible for us to offer this important course on the Constitution to all Americans. And for that I am grateful.

Betsy Woodruff, a 2012 graduate of Hillsdale College's Dow Journalism Program, was recently featured at National Review Online and on the Drudge Report.
"How Did Harry Reid Get Rich?" By Betsy Woodruff Originally posted August 15, 2012
"Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person's current salary - and he's at the top of his game - is $193,400. You probably wouldn't expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate."

RedState Morning Briefing
For September 10, 2012
1. Obama's Worship Leader #VetObama
Consider this - Ryan Lizza of the New Yorker wrote a lengthy profile of Michele Bachmann's religious views and, in the process, got major portions of Bachmann's theology flat out wrong. She's Lutheran. He painted her to be part of a fringe cult, in the process misdefining basic theological terms.
Then there was Bill Keller of the New York Times. He thinks candidates for President should be grilled on their religion. Except, he's only doing this now, after Barack Obama got elected President.
The Huffington Post declares Paul Ryan has, of all things, a Catholic problem.
Now, NBC News has run a special introducing Americans to Mormons. Not in 2010, when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was running for re-election, but now. Meet the Press felt compelled to get Mitt Romney to discuss it. What's amazing to me is how the media pretends it thoroughly vetted Barack Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright when, in reality, we probably know more about Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential nominee from 2008 than we do about Barack Obama.
The media claims it vetted the Wright connection, when it reality it did not. Either Barack Obama was using Jeremiah Wright to claim some grounding in faith when he did not have what he claimed, or Barack Obama was cool with Jeremiah Wright's theology, which as you'll recall was important enough to Obama to use in the title of Obama's second autobiography, published when he was gearing up for his first presidential run.
If the media wants to explore Mitt Romney's faith, perhaps it is time we finally explore Barack Obama's. Please feel free to point your friends toward the video Ben Howe put together on this topic.
2. Calling The Election Today
Is it just me or does there seem to be some organized spin out over the weekend to call the election for President Obama now?
Check out the Politico for the best of these, but everyone is out doing it.
Here's the thing - I have a theory that polling is taking longer to respond to events because of the overwhelming flow of information these days. I think, objectively, Mitt Romney did himself a disservice by being too vague and failing to close the deal in his speech and Bill Clinton helped Barack Obama. The polling we are seeing right now is a reflection of Romney's performance at the Republican National Convention and the build up to Bill Clinton.
And, right on cue, the cymbal clashing wind up monkeys of the Gang of 500 are banging cymbals for Barack Obama.
But let's not kid ourselves - this spin has everything to do with Friday's economic report. The press is trying to get everyone to forget that there are more men out of work than at any time in American history and 4.2 million women out of work since Barack Obama took office. This is the politics of distraction aided by just a handful of tracking polls.
3. Who needs a muted, irrelevant President?
As conservatives, we know why we don't want President Barack Obama in the White House. He is leading this country in the wrong direction. But his completely empty convention speech, when combined two moments described in Bob Woodward's new book, gave us another prong of attack that is potentially much more devastating. He simply is irrelevant now. Nancy Pelosi put him on mute and Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid kicked Obama out of a meeting he called in the White House.
4. The Recession May Have Been Worse Than He Knew, But The Obama Administration Declared It Over by August 2009
The National Bureau of Economic Research declared the recession over in June of 2009.
By September of 2009, Ben Bernanke was telling folks that based on the numbers the recession "is very likely over."
On June 17, 2010, the White House declared a summer of recovery.
Today, there are fewer people in the jobs market than any time since September of 1981.
Jobs numbers in June and July were revised downward.
5. Book: Mafia Hit-Man & Teamster Boss Helped Joe Biden Become U.S. Senator
The book I Heard You Paint Houses came out in 2003, so it's been gathering some dust on a number of bookshelves around the country for quite some time.
The book's title, according to Amazon, comes from the first words infamous Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa ever spoke to Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran. To paint a house is to kill a man. The paint is the blood that splatters on the walls and floors.
The book is essentially the deathbed biography of one-time Delaware Teamster boss and mob hit-man Frank Sheeran and truly is a fascinating read.

Reflections of a Diaspora Jew on Zionism, America and the Fate of the Jews
Posted by David Horowitz on Sep 7th, 2012
Editors' note: In the following speech accepting the Ben Hecht Award for Outstanding Journalism from the Zionist Organization of America, David Horowitz notes that he wants everything that the Zionists want-a muscular Israel willing and able to defy the growing Jew hatred in the world; a Jewish State "armed to the teeth" and ready to use its military; an Israel augmented by the addition of its historical birthright of Judea and Samaria. Yet the paradox is that until now, Horowitz notes, he has never considered himself a Zionist in the sense that Theodor Herzl and other founders used that term. Herzl's dream was that a Jewish homeland would "normalize" the Jewish people in the eyes of an historically hostile world, end their persecution, and "solve" the "Jewish problem." Horowitz states that he always considered this possibility to be a "fairy tale" because of his understanding of the way envy and hatred operate on the international scene, especially with the advent of "Third Worldism." In addition to becoming a refuge, Israel also became a magnet for homocidal intentions. The events of 9/11 changed everything. Because of the rise of Islamism in the U.S.-especially influencing those who were once Israel's strong defenders-as well as in the Middle East, Horowitz says that "supporters of freedom are all Zionists now." Below is the text of the speech that Horowitz gave last night, Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in Philadelphia.

DNC Removed Muslim Events From Its Calendar? Au Contraire!
Despite claims to the contrary, BIMA (Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs) still has its event listed on the DNC calendar. In fact, the calendar reveals that several Islamic events took place last week, as you can verify by clicking here:
FRIDAY August 31
Jumah at the 2012 DNC
BIMA is hosting an open air Jumah Congregational Prayer at the Democratic National Convention Friday, August 31st at Marshall Park, Charlotte, North Carolina. The Jumah Prayer will be followed by a number of other programs and events. 08/31/2012: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Islamic Regal Banquet
Islamic Leaders and Distinguished Guests will be hosted Friday Night at the BIMA Islamic Banquet. These leaders and special guests will be addressing the State of Islam in America and issues relative to the American Muslim plight. 08/31/2012: 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM
SATURDAY September 1
Islamic Cultural & Fun Fest
Bazaar Kids Carnival Color Me Muslim Seminar & Concert TownHall Issues Conference addressing issues such as Islamaphobia, Anti-Shariah, Middle Eastern Crisis, Patriot Act, National Defense Authorization Act and more.
09/01/2012: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Isn't it strange that a religion that represents one half of one percent of the US population would have three events devoted to itself at the DNC, while Christians got two and Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and atheists all had NO events for themselves whatsoever? Also curious is the fact that, while there were events for building relations between Hispanics & Jews, Blacks & Jews, and Hindus & Jews, there was no event for building relations between Muslims & Jews. Isn't that the relationship that needs building most of all? What's that tell us?

Congressman Confirms High-Level U.S.-Israel Spat Over Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blew up at the U.S. ambassador last month because he was "at wit's end" over what he sees as the Obama administration's lack of clarity on Iran's nuclear program, a U.S. congressman who was at the meeting said. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, a Republican, made his first public comments about the late August meeting in Israel in an interview with Michigan's WJR radio on Tuesday. His disclosure comes only hours before President Barack Obama will be at the Democratic National Convention to accept the party's nomination as its candidate in the November election, in which the level of the Obama administration's support for Israel has become a contentious topic.

RJC: Rift in Democratic Party on Israel Shows How Much Party Has Changed
New RJC ad:"This is no longer
the Democratic Party of our parents' generation."
Washington, D.C. (September 7, 2012) -- The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) today announced the release of a new print ad, entitled "Rift," which points to the deep split among rank and file Democrats when it comes to supporting Israel. This rift is a sad example of how much the party has changed over the years.
The ad reads, in part: "At the Democratic Party convention in Charlotte, NC, it's become painfully clear that this Party is no longer the Democratic Party of our parents' generation. This week has witnessed a shocking series of events. These regrettable incidents reveal a Party that has wandered far from its origins."
The ad will run next week in 11 Jewish newspapers as full-page ads in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Nevada.
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "Important pro-Israel language was stripped from the Democrats' platform this year, including lines recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and calling Israel America's 'strongest ally'. When they tried to reinstate the language on Jerusalem, the convention chairman couldn't get a clear two-thirds vote and just declared the language added - receiving loud boos from the convention floor.
He continued, "This is a sad display by the Democratic Party and is an indication of how much the Democratic Party has changed in recent years. It was chilling to watch; who could have imagined the day when supporting Jerusalem would be resoundingly booed at a Democratic convention?"

Obama Admin Cuts Military Participation With Israel, Increases Participation with Muslim Brotherhood
by AWR Hawkins 5 Sep 2012
Days after the Obama administration announced drastic cuts in the number of U.S. troops participating in military exercises with Israel, U.S. military planes landed in Egypt for joint exercises with Egypt's military forces.
Named "Eagle Arena 2012," the exercise marks the first military interaction between the U.S. and Egypt since Hosni Mubarak was president. It also means our military is officially in joint training exercises with military personnel from a country strongly influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood (Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi is a prominent member of the Muslim Brotherhood).
The exercise will include air and naval training in and over Egypt, Sinai, and the Red Sea. Aircraft and naval vessels from both countries will be used for these exercises.
Not only have we left Israel to face Iran alone, we're actually teaching one of Iran's emerging allies how to fight.

God And Jerusalem Back In Democrat Platform - Almighty And Israel Must Be So Relieved GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary By Don Feder 09/07/2012 Comedy Central's audience must have fallen way off in the past few days. What's stand-up compared to the farce of the 2012 Democratic Nominating Convention? Those evangelicals who are still muttering about Mitt's religion should think about this: It took a Mormon to get a president who claims to be an evangelical to put God back in his party's platform. In response to the initial omission, Romney said of the Party of Abortion and Gay Marriage - and illegal immigration and voter fraud - "I think their having purposely removed God from their platform suggests a party which is increasingly out of touch with the mainstream of the American people." That's all it took for the White House damage-control team to scramble, as visions of Republican campaign ads danced in their heads: "Democrats think God is a four-letter word." So there was the spectacle of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chairman, declaring that a minority of delegates are (for purposes of amending the platform) a two-thirds majority - while a majority of delegates on the floor booed and shouted "no" to putting God, and Jerusalem as Israel's capital, back in the document. The reference to the Deity (helping "working people" to achieve their "God-given" potential) was so innocuous that it could only offend the type of leftist who dominated the Democratic National Socialist Party's convention. So God went back into a platform that included a pledge to publicly-funded abortion on demand (including partial birth abortion) and the party's "first formal support for same-sex marriage rights." Though, the Democrats did make a big-deal concession here, generously allowing that religious denominations should be free to decide "how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference" - in other words, they won't force priests and Orthodox rabbis to officiate at these pagan rites. That God had a cameo part in the convention that nominated Barack Hussein Obama must have been embarrassing for Him. From the moment he set foot on the national stage, Obama has demonstrated his unremitting hostility to traditional religion. In his bitter-clinger remarks, he lumped those who (his words) "cling to religion" with gun-nuts and assorted bigots. He spent 19 years sitting attentively in a church whose minister preached liberation theology. When Jeremiah Wright called on God, it was usually to damn America or curse Israel. Wall Builders David Barton calls Obama "America's most Biblically-hostile President." Little wonder.
* He refused to have National Day of Prayer ceremonies at the White House, while never missing a chance to have a White House dinner to mark the end of Ramadan. He also had the first get-acquainted meeting for atheists. * Twice issued Thanksgiving Day proclamations that failed to mention God. So, who exactly are we supposed to be thankful to? * Twice misquoted the Declaration of Independence, leaving out the words "endowed by their Creator" before "inalienable rights." * Claimed "e pluribus unum" is our national motto, not "In God We Trust." He also quoted the Gettysburg Address leaving out "that this nation under God." * Rejected a move to include FDR's D-Day prayer in a World War II memorial. * When he spoke at Georgetown University, required the school to conceal a monogram symbolizing Jesus' name. * Nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican - all rejected by the Holy See. This is a president who is exquisitely sensitive to the feelings of Muslims, and no other faith community. * Picked an EEOC Commissioner who said religious beliefs should not be allowed to interfere with sexual "equality." * Revoked conscience protection for health care workers, requiring them to participate in procedures that violate the principles of their faith. * Required religious institutions to provide contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs through their health insurance (the contraceptive mandate). * Forgiveness for student loans based on public service will no longer include religiously based service. * Banned the distribution of Bibles at Walter Reed Army Hospital - later reversed after an outcry by veterans groups. * Obama's State Department recently dropped coverage of religious persecution from its annual Human Rights report. This comes at a time when Christians are regularly tortured and murdered for their faith in the Muslim world. * In 2009, Obama gave $50 million to the United Nations' Population Fund, which supports China's forced abortion/sterilization campaign. * Supports the anti-Biblical homosexual-rights agenda, including "gay marriage." U.S. diplomats were ordered to participate in gay-pride parades overseas, including those in countries which still honor their religious heritage. * Nominated judges who deliberately distort the First Amendment's Establishment Clause while intentionally ignoring its Free Exercise Clause, as well as discriminating against believers in other ways.

The president's allies include the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, radical feminists and militant socialists - who cringe at the words "Judeo-Christian heritage." Democrats' chose as their keynote speaker a serial predator who is best known for committing adultery in the Oval Office and perjury in court papers. That's how Obama and Company show their respect for God's Commandments. There's a symmetry between Obama's attitude toward God and Israel. Notwithstanding the platform's empty words about Jerusalem as Israel's capital (after his Palestinian friends finish carving it up), this is "the most hostile president" toward Israel since the re-birth of the Jewish state, in the words of former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton. Liberal Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz charges the Democrats have turned Israel into a "wedge issue." Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, a life-long Democrat, says: "Obama is basically hostile to the state of Israel." In a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in March, Obama assured the audience, "When the chips are down, I have Israel's back." Of course - how else will he know where to put the knife? Obama's record reads like the PLO charter:
* Wright at the start, Obama's pastor and mentor, the man he claims brought him to Christianity, called Israel a "dirty word," and an "apartheid state" that engages in "ethnic cleansing in Gaza." * While he gave his first foreign speech in Cairo (where he refused to acknowledge the Jews' historical claim to the Promised Land), and bowed and scraped to the Saudi King, Obama is the first president since 1948 to never set foot in Israel, as president. The president has visited seven Muslim countries, not including France. * He treats Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu like something unpleasant that needs to be scraped off the sole of his shoe. In one of those candid, I-thought-the-mic-was-off moments, he expressed his utter contempt for the Israeli leader to then-French President Nicholas Sarkozy. * In a speech last December, Obama's ambassador to Belgium blamed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Europe. He's still Obama's ambassador to Belgium. In any other administration, he'd be ambassador to the penguins in Antarctica. * He helped bring the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt. The Brotherhood's virulent hatred of Israel and Jews has turned Egypt from a lukewarm ally to a dangerous enemy of the Jewish state. * The President promises to do something about Iran's nuclear program someday - probably when Israel is a heap of radioactive ashes. * In a 2011 State Department speech, the president said he wants Israel's borders to "be based on the 1967 lines." He's the first president to attempt to dictate Israel's borders in a potential "peace settlement." Those he envisions have been called "Auschwitz borders" by security experts.

Obama's Israel-aversion is shaped by his ideology. In his film "2016: Obama's America," Dinesh D'Souza calls it anti-colonialism, a legacy from the president's alcoholic, abusive, bigamist, socialist Kenyan father. According to this worldview, Israel is a colonial power - white, European, industrialized - that occupies land formerly controlled by an impoverished people of a darker hue. (That the land was also impoverished and undeveloped before the Jews returned is considered irrelevant.) That the "colonized" also practice a non-Western religion and hate America is icing on the cake. Obama's antipathy to Israel compliments his affinity for Islam and disdain for Christianity and Judaism. The president has spent the past three and a half-years downplaying America's Judeo-Christian roots, including absurdly asserting that America is not (or no longer is) a Christian nation. By working to de-Christianize America, Obama is also trying to undercut Israel's strongest base of support in this country - white evangelical Christians. D'Souza writes that if he's reelected, Obama will no longer be content with backing the Palestinians over Gaza and the West Bank, but will seek to delegitimize the Jewish state, using South Africa's apartheid regime as a model. In so doing, "perhaps he can force Israel to grant a right of return with full voting rights to Palestinian refugees. If that happens, then in relatively short order, the Muslims would outnumber the Jews, with obvious political consequences. An Obama second term could be fatal for the future of Israel." In the Bible, God says he will turn His face from those who turn away from Him, also that he will bless those who bless the Jewish people and curse those who curse them. With the election less than nine weeks away, that's comforting.

For many years, the Democratic Party has used its "Big Tent" policy to cobble together enough one-issue constituencies to create winning majorities on election day. While this policy has long been successful, it only works as when the constituencies do not conflict with each other, or at least can "tolerate" each other, putting aside differences for the sake of shared political power. For example, the interests of women, gays, blacks, Hispanics, Jews, and labor unions don't directly conflict with each other, making it possible for them to cooperate politically to get into office and promote the issues of all of the constituencies.
While toleration is good in itself, it is more than that to the Democratic Party because toleration is the glue that holds the Big Tent together. Each minority in the Big Tent knows that it can only gain power if it cooperates with the others.
With this powerful and time-proven strategy at the Democrats' disposal, it's natural for them to embrace new minorities which they can bring into the Big Tent and thereby strengthen their over-all numbers. Unfortunately, the Democrats got more than they bargained for when they brought Muslims into the tent:
- Democrats didn't appreciate how deeply the Muslim objective of practicing Sharia conflicts with the Big Tent's other constituencies, such as women, gays, and Jews.
- They didn't appreciate that Muslims would not reciprocate, in the spirit of toleration and mutual support, the overtures of liberal women, gays, and Jews. It's stunning to see how NOW (the National Organization of Women) has been playing an active role to oppose "Islamophobia" (for example, CLICK HERE), to the point where they now oppose those who genuinely want to protect women from the oppressions of Sharia. While the Muslims have not compromised their positions one bit, the National Organization of Women has thrown women under the bus to curry favor with Muslims!
- They didn't appreciate how deeply Muslims loathe the Jews. In fact, Muslims frequently speak in terms of competing with Jews for influence over American politics (for example, CLICK HERE), so the idea that Muslims will cooperate with Jews ludicrous, especially on matters regarding Israel. As the Democratic party sees the future more and more in terms of its growing Muslim minority, we are now seeing a historic shift in political alliance: Jews, who feel their power waning in the Democratic Party, are starting to move toward the Republicans. Who would have thought that Senator Joe Lieberman, the Democratic Party's nominee for VP in 2000, would leave the Party because of the Democrats' flagging support for Israel and give a major speech at the 2008 RNC on behalf of John McCain? Wow!
In 2004 there were 25 Muslim delegates at the DNC. In 2008 there were 43. This year, there are 100. The effects of the Democratic Party's growing tilt toward Muslims revealed itself dramatically for the first time in this election cycle, when the Party removed recognition of God and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel from its platform. After Republicans criticized these removals, panicked Democrats tried to reinsert them via a Convention floor vote, claiming that the removals were mere oversights. However, when the vote was called, the Muslims and their sympathizers blasted a loud NO, shocking the party leaders as you can see here (click here and view the first 1.5 minutes):
Clearly, the removal of God and Jerusalem was NOT an oversight, and many of the delegates were deeply committed to the excision. However the motion's approval had been pre-ordained and scripted, as revealed by this image of the words that the speaker was trying to read:
Visual confirmation that the fix was in, as captured by Hannity, and posted in The Right Scoop

Facing this horrendous conflict between the vote and the script before an audience of millions, the Democrats panicked again and stuck with the script instead of acknowledging the vote. Even worse, party chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz went on to blatantly lie about what had happened, as this 1-minute Anderson Cooper clip shows (click image):
 | Anderson Cooper Mocks Top Dem: In 'Alternate Reality' |
Of course, this blatant disregard for the vote and the democratic process only made things worse. Suddenly the Old Guard of the Democratic party discovered that its Muslim constituency wasn't willing to "go along to get along," and responded by conducting a fraudulent vote to maintain appearances and prevent the world from noticing that the Democratic Party isn't what it used to be. Suddenly the Old Guard of the Democratic Party was looking like a phony "President" from the old Middle East, about to be overthrown by the Arab Spring.
This event should send shock-waves through the nation as we witness the Democratic Party's Big Tent literally ripping apart. It's clear that the Democrats can choose to either keep their old set of Big Tent alliances or they can allow their new Muslim constituency to take over, because Muslims are not willing to compromise when it comes to Allah's commands and protecting what they believe is Muslim land.
Gosh. Who could have seen this coming? ...Oh yeah... US!
Final thought: While we can understand why Muslims would reject Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, what about their rejection of "God"? Would they have preferred "Allah"?

Dem official: Arab-Americans 'got punched' over Jerusalem switch
By Michael Isikoff, NBC News September 6, 2012
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Democratic party's abrupt platform reversal on Jerusalem -- reinstating language describing it as the capital of Israel despite loud objections from the Democratic National Convention floor -- stirred fresh and unexpected controversy Thursday in Charlotte as Arab-American and Muslim party officials expressed anger over how the issue was handled and predicted that it may suppress Democratic votes this fall among constituents in key swing states.
"I'm concerned that Arab-Americans will feel they got punched in the solar plexus," said James Zogby, the president of the Arab-American Institute who serves on the Democratic Party's platform committee. "This was ham-fisted and a blunder ... They stepped all over the convention the way this was done."
...
"I'm from Iraq and lived under a dictatorship. I feel like I'm back in the Middle East," said Majid Al-Bahadli, a delegate from Seattle, Wash. He said delegates had no forewarning of the motion and were caught totally by surprise when the proposed new language suddenly flashed on a monitor -- with no hard copy for them to read, and no opportunity to debate the issue.
"I said, 'What? What is it?' We had already adopted the platform. You can't just go back and change it," Al-Bahadli said. He said he loudly shouted, "No!" because "I believe Jerusalem is for everybody. It's a holy place -- for Jews, for Christians and for Muslims."
(In the face of objections that the version approved by the Democratic platform committee included no reference to God, the motion also included language saying that government should help people "make the most of their God-given potential.")
Most political analysts have portrayed the Jerusalem issue as a potent one because of its potential impact on Jewish voters. But Zogby and others at the luncheon noted that Arab-Americans and Muslim-American voters are a growing and important voting block: The number of Muslim Americans -- now about 2.6 million -- is expected to double to 6.2 million by 2030. Moreover, their numbers are especially concentrated in key swing states such as Ohio and Florida: There are, for example, currently 124,000 Muslim voters in Florida alone.
"This is going to hurt among Arabs and Muslims," said Al-Bahadli. "We're going to go home and people are going to be sad. I think it will affect the turnout and we are going to lose a lot of votes."

Here's a rather chilling (30-min) video about Obama's hostile and antagonistic relationship toward Israel. It will not be unfamiliar to regular BNI readers, but I hope you will send it to any Jewish friends who may still be on the fence about, or committed to, voting for Barack Hussein Obama.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wbH5KVPrPo
From aLETTER sent by William Krystal to President Obama re: "Rabbis for Obama" group.
Now, in desperate move to win back some of the lost Jewish vote, the Obama Campaign has launched a group called "Rabbis for Obama." Rabbis for Obama, the campaign says, are "committed to re-electing" Obama due to his "policy agenda that represents the values of the overwhelming majority of the American Jewish community" and his "deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel."
Quite the contrary. These Rabbis for Obama have no commitment to Israel's security, and their "values" are representative of a small and extreme group of anti-Israel activists - and certainly not of the pro-Israel community.
Rabbis for Obama includes many leaders of the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) Movement, a movement inimical to Israel's well-being. It includes founders of the pro-Hamas "Fast for Gaza" initiative. It even includes one person who was pleased to dine with Iranian President Ahmadinejad in 2008 and another who says the United States and Israel bring terrorism on themselves. Several members of Rabbis for Obama are officials of Jewish Voice for Peace, a radical group that the Anti-Defamation League featured in its list of the "Top 10 Anti-Israel Groups in America."
Far from demonstrating a "deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel," these figures have demonstrated a deep hostility to the state of Israel and a deep commitment to demonizing the Jewish state and undermining the U.S.-Israel alliance.

 | Why We Are Afraid, A 1400 Year Secret, by Dr Bill Warner |
|

Education was the defining paradigm of the 20th Century model of social progress, particularly the scientific education distributed through cells and classes where trained educators teach from prepared texts imparting the same knowledge to every students through the same methods. Our educational system is nothing if not extensive. We, collectively and individually, spend fortunes on it. The average cost of a four year degree is approaching 100,000 dollars and that isn't counting textbooks (1,100 per year) and the astronomical rates of interest on student loans. Total student loan debt has doubled in the last seven years and is approaching 300 billion dollars. The average student under 30 owes around 20,000 dollars as education has become the new mortgage.

The Picture They Painted in Charlotte
September 7, 2012
"It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth -- and listen to the song of that syren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty?" --Patrick Henry
An elderly Spanish woman recently set about the work of restoring a 102-year-old oil painting of Jesus. To put it generously, her work was less than successful. Just as she attempted to refurbish the cracked and peeling fresco, however, Democrats at their North Carolina convention tried -- and failed just as miserably -- to improve the image of their own tarnished and faded messiah.
Restoring the Obama fresco
In a video produced for the opening of the convention, Democrats succinctly summed up their entire philosophy: "Government is the only thing we all belong to. We have different churches, different clubs, but we're together as a part of our city, or our county, or our state, and our nation." Everything separates us but government. Indeed, the rest of the convention paid homage to government as the be all and end all, the Alpha and Omega, the solution to every problem. Because, let's face it, as someone once said, "You didn't build that."
The Obama campaign quickly denied having anything to do with the video, but no one doubts it's Obama's vision. And nothing could be further from what our Founding Fathers established -- a republic with limited and enumerated powers in which "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" were the rights and values to be cherished, not the bureaucratic labyrinth at the Department of Health and Human Services.
It was also no small irony that the gavel came down on the convention just as our national debt passed $16,000,000,000,000. Democrats have done more than their "fair share" to help us reach that horrendous number.
With all that in mind, we chose a few of the more egregious quotes from the DNC floor -- and believe us, the choosing was hard -- with concise rebuttals to the various attacks, distortions and outright lies.

The Five 'Reasons' to Re-elect Obama
By Larry Elder · September 6, 2012
The case for re-electing President Barack Obama rests on five arguments, the most important of which is that Romney/Ryan represent sexism, racism, homophobia and fascism.
1) Obama "inherited" the worst set of economic conditions since World War II.
False. Based on unemployment, inflation and interest rates, the recession of 1981-82 was worse. Unemployment during the early '80s reached 10.8 percent, inflation 13.5 percent, and prime interest rates reached 21.5 percent. During this so-called "Great Recession," the numbers peaked at 10.2 unemployment, 5.6 percent inflation and 7.25 percent for the prime interest rate.
2) Obama's economic policies "rescued the economy from falling off a cliff."
False. Nearly 350 economists, including several Nobel laureates, publicly urged Obama to following the path President Reagan pursued -- cutting taxes, slowing the growth of domestic spending and continuing deregulation.
Most business economists think Obama's "stimulus" plan accomplished little, if anything, with some academic economists, like Stanford's John Taylor, believing that the stimulus actually made things worse: "I just don't think there's any evidence. When you look at the numbers, when you see what happened, when people reacted to the stimulus, it did very little good."

Forward: June, July Jobs Revised Down, Participation Level Plummets to 30-Year Low
|
|
by John Nolte
GOP nominee Mitt Romney probably put it best in a statement released just after this morning's jobs numbers were released: "If last night was the party, this morning is the hangover."
At 8:30 am ET this morning, we might have received the news that explained President Obama's startling bad performance last night. If there was a single moment Democrats thought they could count on to hit a convention grand slam, it was their clean-up hitter, Barack Obama, who would undoubtedly close the convention on a triumphant note. Instead, what we got was a wan, uninspiring speech from a president who seemed tired and even defeated.

Exploding the Bill Clinton Myth of his Economic Boom
The Mythology of the Bill Clinton Economic Boom
by Alexander Horvat
Following the address given by spin meister and ex-President Bill Clinton at the DNC recently, there has apparently been a selective omission of reality. My effort today is to illuminate those on all sides of the political spectrum as to what color you are likely to be missing. After all, we all respect diversity right? Is truth still got a seat at the table of diversity?
When a myth is accepted as reality by enough people it becomes a new reality. Ronald Reagans Press Secretary Larry Speaks once said, "If you tell the same story five times, it's true". Hence, the stressing of a perception over reality by most major politicians and business leaders today. You can control perception, you can't control reality, it is what it is and you said what you said.
This election is a great illustration of how reality is always getting reworked. Besides the obvious Debbie Wasserman Schulz faux pas where she denied what she was recorded as saying, the Clinton Economic Boom Myth is still working on way to many on left, right and middle.

Is Homeland Security falsifying crime statistics for the Mexico border area?
Sep 09, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins
Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer
Falsifying crime statistic data about border crime along the Texas Mexican border to grab $6 million grant dollars is being revealed by PF Media's undercover camera investigations! When Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano's good friend Lupe Trevino took over as sheriff in Hidalgo County, somehow the violent crime along the illegal alien pipeline into the U.S. improved dramatically. How could that have happened so suddenly? Apparently, PJ Media reporter Bryan Preston said, "The grants pressure local law enforcement to tell false crime stats and fake border crime figures." He is calling out local, state, and federal crime reporting agencies for faking crime reports that are giving local citizens a false sense of security! A crime analyst admits on hidden camera that "changing crime stats to make them look better" involves "fiddling with them." By reducing downward aggravated assault and robbery, "you can justify it both ways," says the analyst who at one ... President Bush continued: "To honor the memory of those who lost their lives, to provide comfort and strength to families of the victims... I call upon all Americans to pray to Almighty God and to perform acts of service." DEMS warned against certifying Obama eligible for White House

by Doug Book, staff writer
Attorney Larry Klayman has warned Robert Bauer, the General Council to the Democrat National Committee, that members of the "Democrat Party or state elections officials certifying Obama's eligibility for the 2012 election could become the targets of election-fraud charges." (1)
Klayman-the founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch-bases his warning on the fact that Hawaii State Registrar Alvin Onaka refused to verify to Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett "the birth facts for Barack Hussein Obama that are claimed on the birth certificate posted on the White House website..." In addition, Onaka "undeniably failed to verify that the [birth certificate] image posted at whitehouse.gov 'is a true and accurate representation of the original record in [the DOH] files.'" (2)
On March 30th, Secretary Bennett filled out a standard request form, asking that Onaka "verify as true" that Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4th, 1961; that he was born ... Continue Reading:DEMS warned against certifying Obama eligible for White House

Mark Owen's book "No Easy Day" was released this week with much controversy. It details the actual events that led to the death of the world's most wanted terrorist, Osama bin Laden. The truth didn't come close to the narrative released by the White House. The book is less than flattering of the Obama Administration. After the book was published and released to the public the Pentagon declared that the book contained classified information and the Chief of Naval Special Warfare Command declared the book provided insight to secret military operations.

Just as all of Obama's other voting blocs, Jewish voters are thinking twice about voting for him
Sep 07, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins
By Emma Karlin, staff writer
Ira Foreman has a tough job nobody could imagine would be tough just four years ago. Foreman is the man in charge of getting Jewish voters to the polls to support the re-election of Barack Obama. This was supposed to be a snap job. Foreman should be living it up in Charlotte knowing he had his people lined up and ready to go. But things have gone from bad to worse in the relationship between the Democrats and the Jewish voter.
At this point just two months from Election Day the support Jews will give Obama is not at all a sure thing. Those saying they will vote for him have dwindled from 78% in 2008 to only 64% at best today. While in and of itself the Jewish vote is not very large, it has been a consistent "canary in a coal mine" indicator of trouble for Democrat presidential candidates. ... Barack Obama's war on America's fresh water supply: China is buying up Lake Michigan's water
Sep 07, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins
Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer
Barack Obama is keeping his promise to lower the sea levels, and he's starting with the drought plagued Midwest where Lake Michigan water is being shipped by the boat loads over to China! By using a little known loophole in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact, Obama minions are allowing Nestle Company to export precious fresh water out of Lake Michigan to the tune of an estimated $500,000 million to $1.8 million per day profit. By draining the precious jewel of the Great Lakes in the middle of America, our federal water managers are allowing the export of our water out of our country across thousands of miles of oceans into the Asian basin plagued by huge population centers who are suffering from their constant lack of fresh water. How's that for cutting America down to size?
The water is being sold at a "240 times markup," that is, well over ... Continue Reading:Barack Obama's war on America's fresh water supply: China is buying up Lake Michigan's water

Born SEPTEMBER 6, 1757, his father died before he was two-years-old and his mother died when he was twelve, leaving him to inherit their fortune. At 14-years-old, he joined the French Military and, at age 16, became a captain. He married Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles, whose family was related to King Louis XVI. At 19, against the King's wishes, he purchased a ship and persuaded several French officers to accompany him to fight in the American Revolution. Washington appointed him a major general. His name was Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette fought at Brandywine, endured the freezing winter at Valley Forge, saw action at Barren Hill and Rhode Island. Lafayette returned to France and, along with Franklin's efforts, secured troops and supplies for the American cause which helped force Cornwallis to surrender at Yorktown. Nearly fifty years later, after having lived through the French Revolution, Marquis ... Continue Reading:American Minute September 6

Friday, September 7, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 60 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS The Abortion Convention Please click here now to watch a brief video message that I recorded on the sanctity of life. The Democrat National Convention is over. What a bizarre spectacle it was! I never thought I would see the day when God would get booed at a political convention in this country -- a nation founded on the belief that we are endowed by our Creator with the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In that moment Wednesday night, the last little fig leaf of moderate camouflage was stripped away from Barack Obama and his radical party. Another striking example of the Democrats' extremism is how their convention turned into a celebration of abortion. The leaders of Planned Parenthood and NARAL, along with Sandra Fluke, were given prime-time speaking slots. In his acceptance speech, Barack Obama equated abortion with "health care choices." Watching the Democrats elevate abortion to the level of a fundamental right really infuriated me. So yesterday I recorded a special message about the sanctity of life -- our most fundamental right as expressed in our Declaration of Independence. Share it with your friends and family members. Post it to your Facebook pages. Please add a positive comment on our YouTube page. And don't forget our analysis of Obama's extreme pro-abortion record. So much is at stake in this election. From the sanctity of life to the meaning of marriage, our cherished values are on the line. The left's incredible hostility to God was on full display for all to see this week at the Democrat National Convention. Our values can't afford four more years of Barack Obama! Men and women of faith cannot sit on the sidelines. Please take a moment to watch this video and help us spread the word about our work on behalf of our pro-life, pro-family, pro-free enterprise values. We Need Your Help! My friends, if you believe marriage is the union of one man and one woman, then make your voice heard right now! Go to our YouTube page and post a positive comment about the marriage ad that my Super PAC ran during the Democrat National Convention. The past few weeks have been a busy time here. I've been speaking with reporters every day since the conventions began. Yesterday, I did several radio interviews, including on my good friend Bill Bennett's radio show. We've submitted op-eds to the Washington Post, National Review and Fox News. And we're also making news! My Super PAC's pro-normal marriage ads caused quite a stir and created a lot headlines. The ad has been viewed nearly 300,000 times on YouTube. Not surprisingly, the ad struck a nerve. The militant homosexual movement isn't very happy with me right now. Our YouTube page has been overwhelmed with vile and hateful comments from the ever-so tolerant crowd. Judging from the comments on our YouTube page, it's clear to me that when the liberals got wind of our ad they circulated it to other radicals far more than our own friends shared it with like-minded supporters. But I will give the liberals this much: They get it. They are fully engaged in the culture war, and they intend to win it. They are fighting hard to force their values on society and to shut down anyone who dares to speak out against them. Will we fight back just as hard to defend our values? My friends, your prayers and financial support are essential to our success. But it is just as important to share our reports, videos and other materials with like-minded friends, and to encourage them to take action in defense of our values. That can be as simple as posting a positive comment on Facebook or on YouTube. I know these radicals don't represent the vast majority of Americans, but you would think otherwise from the comments they leave online. And that is precisely the false impression they are trying to create. They do this to demoralize us. Don't be intimidated! Don't let the left shout us down! What kind of society are we going to leave our children and grandchildren? Take a stand for faith, family and freedom. Fight back! This is our country too. Friday, September 7, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 60 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS O Bombs If nothing else, Barack Obama always had his golden-tongued oratory going for him. But based on the initial reviews of his speech last night, it seems even his rhetorical abilities failed him. Famed Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan said Obama's speech was "weirdly anticlimactic," "stale and empty." Charles Krauthammer agreed, saying it was "one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage." Many Democrats also seemed let down. Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank writes today that the Democrat National Convention began "like the Obama presidency itself, with the loftiest of hopes and the greatest of expectations." But four years later, as he walked the convention floor, Milbank sensed considerable discouragement, writing, "The demigod [Obama] turned out to be entirely human, and his results were disappointing." At the left-wing Daily Beast, liberal columnist Michael Tomasky flailed Obama's speech as "dull and pedestrian ... with nary an interesting thematic device, policy detail, or even one turn of phrase." Several Democrats commenting on the networks afterwards surprisingly admitted that Joe Biden actually gave a better speech. So the soaring rhetoric was gone. What about the substance? The fact checkers are having a field day today. But I'll focus on just two distortions that really go to the core of Obama's failure. During the Democrats' convention, speaker after speaker excoriated George W. Bush for waging two wars and not paying for them. But last night, Obama said he was going to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and use the "savings" to pay for new roads, bridges, schools, etc. The Associated Press labeled that promise, "Obama's Phantom Peace Dividend." If Bush was bad for borrowing money to defeat Al Qaeda and liberate Iraq, then obviously there are no "savings" when you merely stop borrowing. Wasn't infrastructure the point of Obama's stimulus plan? All of that was borrowed too, and the unemployment rate remains higher today than when Obama took office nearly four years ago. The stimulus failed to stimulate, but last night Obama promised to do more borrowing and spending! Lastly, we heard over and over again during the past few days that Obama has created 4.5 million jobs. That number is extraordinarily misleading because it includes only job gains from January 2010. It completely ignores 2009, as if Obama wasn't in charge then. According to a CNN fact check: "Overall, there are still fewer people working now than when Obama took office at the height of the recession." The Associated Press adds, "Never since World War II has the economy been so slow to recover all the jobs lost in a downturn." America cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama! Speaking Of Lost Jobs... The employment figures for August were released this morning. Economists had predicted at least 125,000 new jobs. Some were even suggesting as many as 150,000. But the August number, like the Obama presidency itself, was disappointing -- just 96,000 new jobs were created -- and well short of the 200,000 to 250,000 needed to support a growing, vibrant economy. By the way, the previous job growth figures for June and July were revised downward by 41,000 jobs. But that's not even the bad news. According to the report, nearly 370,000 people left the work force. In other words, for every one person who found a job, four people quit looking! The total labor force participation rate is at its lowest level in 30 years. That means fewer people are working and paying taxes to support Obama's ever-expanding government. By this goofy measurement system, if everyone would just stop looking for work our unemployment rate would drop to zero, and our economy would drop to zero too! The Abortion Party Anyone who tuned in to the Democrat National Convention this week could be forgiven for confusing it with a Planned Parenthood rally or NARAL Pro-Choice America conference. Ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room -- President Obama's dreadful stewardship of the economy -- speaker after speaker extolled the unrestricted "right" of women to kill their own children as one of their party's core values. "To hear Bill Clinton tell it, there's no truth to the charges that President Obama gutted welfare reform," Heritage Foundation scholar Robert Rector writes in the Washington Post.
But Clinton is wrong. "The law has indeed been gutted," Rector says.
So why is Rector such an authority on welfare reform that the Post would publish his article? Because he helped write the 1996 welfare law in the first place: "Working closely with members of Congress, I helped draft the work requirements in the 1996 law, and I raised the alarm on July 12, when the Obama administration issued a bureaucratic order allowing states to waive those requirements."
Rector explains what President Obama really did:
|
The Obama administration is waiving the federal requirement that ensures a portion of able-bodied TANF recipients must engage in work activities. It is replacing that requirement with a standard that shows that the pre-reform welfare program was successful and the post-reform program a failure. If that is not gutting welfare reform, it is difficult to imagine what would be.
|
| |
Be sure to read the whole article, which helps show how Heritage continues to shape the debate on this important topic.
Do you think liberals will ever admit to gutting this successful reform that moved millions off the welfare caseload?
The liberal attempt to convince Americans that President Obama's policies have created jobs has hit another snag. This morning the Labor Department released August's jobs report- and the numbers were dismal. Unemployment remains above eight percent.
The Heritage Foundation's Amy Payne asks, "Have 4.5 million new jobs been created under President Obama, as several speakers in Charlotte have claimed this week?" The answer is no.
Earlier this year, Heritage's David Addington outlined five steps conservatives can take to boost job growth.
Do you think President Obama's policies, including the $1 trillion "stimulus" legislation, have led to job-creation?
High energy costs have only compounded our country's economic struggles. Fortunately, an alternative to costly foreign energy has emerged: Hydraulic fracturing, a.k.a. fracking, is a promising technique that can provide both cheaper energy production and job creation.
While fracking has helped to alleviate the high foreign energy prices, there are still many critics. But fracking has proved that it is a safe and reliable means for energy production. Through the combined efforts of entrepreneurs and state regulators, fracking has the potential to be the highlight of the 21st century global quest for affordable energy. Congress simply has to ensure the federal government doesn't interfere with this new industry.
Do you think fracking will allow for reliable energy production on American land?

Romney Is On the Air In Wisconsin
Posted: 09 Sep 2012 01:25 PM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
I noted on Friday that the Romney campaign had finally launched the big ad blitz that we have been awaiting. But the campaign covered only eight states, leaving out such obvious battlegrounds as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. That left the uneasy question whether the campaign's polling suggested that those three states, and others, were not competitive after all.
Happily, that is not the case, at least with respect to Wisconsin, where this ad debuts today. It is called "A Better Future: Wisconsin-Deficit" and focuses on the economy. It is short but hits the right notes:

The real unemployment, cont'd
Posted: 09 Sep 2012 10:12 AM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
You may recall that the dismal August jobs report reflected a decline in the unemployment rate from 8.3 to 8.1 percent. Funny how that works, however, as Conn Carroll points out: "The U.S. economy actually lost jobs according to the survey the Labor Department uses to calculate the unemployment rate. And not for the first time. The U.S. workforce has declined for each of the last two months as has the number of employed Americans."
The reported decline in the unemployment rate was attributable to a big drop in the labor force participation rate (the share of Americans with a job or looking for one). Analyze this: "If Obama can get everyone out the the workforce, the unemployment rate will be 0%!"
!s this really the way it's supposed to work (so to speak)?
UPDATE: Among astute editorials addressing the August jobs are report are those by the Boston Herald and the New York Post, both of which are worth reading.

Jim Pinkerton fantasizes an alternate universe in which the mainstream media covers the Democratic National Convention's voice vote rejecting the platform amendment including God and Jerusalem. Los Angeles Mayor Anthonio Villaraigosa was, you may recall, presiding over the convention as King for a Day. Exercising his royal prerogative, he declared the amendment adopted despite the audible opposition expressed three times over by the Democrats in convention assembled.
Pinkerton's alternate universe conjures up a close-up media look at the voice vote in which a sound meter might be used to assess the outcome. Pinkerton's fantasy may bring back warm memories of Jack Bailey and the long-running television program "Queen For a Day," in which the winner was determined by an applause meter reflecting the intensity of support for the day's candidates for the royal treatment. In the interest of history, a 1960 episode has been made available for viewing online.
"Queen For a Day" is a program whose format of competing sob stories has otherwise been incorporated into the Democratic National Convention, minus the applause meter and Jack Bailey's constraints of taste. I last found an excuse to write about "Queen for a Day" and the Democratic Party in this (still somewhat timely) 2008 post.

Why Is This Election Close, Part 2
Posted: 09 Sep 2012 08:06 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
I've been wondering the same thing as John, and confronting the same grim hypothesis-that the calculus of the modern welfare state has passed a tipping point (I mean, just who do we think those 47 million people on food stamps are going to vote for)? This is, of course, just a variation of the classical critique of democracy-that the poor majority would vote to take from the wealthy minority. This always entails the death of democracy in the fullness of time.
I have before wondered, and still wonder, whether this election might be a replay of 1980, which was close until Reagan broke it open over the last weekend. This is one plausible scenario for a Romney victory. My pal Clark Judge offers similar thoughts on U.S. News and World Report, in a piece entitled "Why the Obama-Romney Race May Not Be the Dead Heat the Polls Describe":
Pollsters will tell you that they cannot always count on voters to level with them about which candidates they favor. For example, Gov. Scott Walker's victory in the Wisconsin recall election several months ago was predicted by the polls, but his margin was not. It was a larger margin than the surveys had forecast. Similarly in 2004, Sen. John Kerry went to bed on election night believing he would be the next president. He woke to a surprise, as did Democrats in 1994 and, to a lesser degree, in 1980. Note, in all these elections it was the Democratic who got the unwelcome surprise.
Meanwhile, one of my supremely numerate friends (a real Ph.D in science) writes in with some observations about polling:
The response rate has gotten so low that the reported differences in popularity have become meaningless. The main source of error is almost surely no longer due to random sampling error but rather to the unknown distribution of opinion in the unsampled part of the population that declines to respond. Let me know if you need a reference for that.
By comparison, it's as if you're getting all excited about annual temperature changes over the just the desert areas of the earth without being concerned with other land surfaces or the oceans.
There are ways to get high response rates in polls, but there seems to be a form of Gresham's Law at work, keeping such methods from being applied, at least in the polls that are made public with their response rates.
We'll see. Pollsters supposedly have rigorous ways of countering the response rate (and cell phone) problem, but I'm skeptical. For now I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Photo ID: Women, minorities hardest hit
Posted: 09 Sep 2012 06:35 AM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
Today's Minneapolis Star Tribune features a page-one story by Jim Ragsdale opposing the proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment requiring photo identification for voting. The story's genre is a familiar one. It's the genre mocked by the parodic New York Times headline: "World to end tomorrow: Women, minorities hardest hit."
The story is illustrative of the Star Tribune's pathetic coverage of the photo identification amendment. The Star Tribune has served as the public relations arm of Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchi, an avowed opponent of the amendment. When Ritchie carried his opposition to the amendment over to giving it a ballot title designed to undermine support, the Minnesota Supreme Court slapped Ritchie down for overstepping the bounds of his authority. He is not exactly a paragon of wisdom or virtue on the subject.
Yet here is Ragsdale basing his story on the party line: "[A] strict ID requirement, such as is being proposed in a constitutional amendment this November, can be a significant barrier for anyone who lives off the ID grid. According to the Minnesota secretary of state's office, that number could run as high as 84,000."
Hmmm. The ID grid - never heard of that before. What is the ID grid? How does one live off the ID grid? Living off the ID grid - sounds like a crisis calling for a some kind of government program.
A skeptical reader might be pardoned for thinking that illegal voters are also living "off the ID grid," and that the amendment would prevent them from voting. But the thought appears not to have crossed Ragsdale's mind:
Those affected could be people like Evelyn Collier, 79, and her fellow residents at the Camden Care Center nursing home in north Minneapolis, many of whom had long since let their state IDs lapse. When they needed travel documents for a Caribbean cruise two years ago, the staff spent months trying to round up birth and marriage certificates and other documents needed for a photo ID.
Most of the documents eventually came in, but Collier, an African-American woman born on a farm in Mississippi in 1932, missed the trip for lack of an official birth certificate.
Or 63-year-old Greg Jackson - that is the name he has used as long as he can remember - who arrived in Minnesota seven years ago with an Illinois ID and failing eyesight. When he sent home for his birth certificate, he was surprised to learn that his legal name was different from the name he had always used, and which was on his Illinois ID.
Several document requests, assistance by volunteers from Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly, and a $320 legal name change followed before Jackson obtained his Minnesota ID.
"If it was that hard for me to get my ID, with my impediments, what about all the impediments other people have?" said Jackson, of St. Paul.
Ragsdale elicits this quote from former Minnesota Secretary of State, current state Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer:
Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake, the amendment sponsor, said the government would offer free IDs, and that the availability of waivers for those without underlying documents and adaptations of current law by the Legislature could address problems without disenfranchising anyone. The general language of the amendment, if it passes, would be fleshed out by the 2013 Legislature.
But the end of the world is nigh: "[T]he uncertainty worries advocates for the elderly and poor, as well as students who try to get their fellow students to go to the polls. They fear that the no-brainer for the many will become a barrier for the few - just enough of a hurdle to keep a significant subset of eligible people home." The Star Tribune, of course, doesn't mention illegal voting or vote fraud. The Democrats protect illegal voters as if they are a core constituency, and they seem to know what they are doing.

Judge Posner's hatchet job on Justice Scalia's book
Posted: 07 Sep 2012 01:37 PM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
I have long admired Richard Posner, both as a jurist and a thinker. With the possible exception of Bill James, I can't think of a writer of non-fiction whose work I have read more of.
Posner's latest published work is a review of Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts by Justice Antonin Scalia and Bryan Garner. Law professor Michael Rappaport, who like me considers Posner a genius, said this about Posner's book review: "There is no. . .way to see it as other than a hatchet job - an attempt to attack the book, without balance, from every possible direction." That's how it looks to me, as well.
Ed Whelan has systematically critiqued Posner's review in a five part series. Here is a sample, from Part Five:
Perhaps Richard Posner's most baffling failing in his wildly incompetent review of Justice Scalia and Bryan Garner's Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts is that he doesn't understand-or he chooses to misrepresent-what they set out to accomplish.
Scalia and Garner don't hide the ball. In the first paragraph of their preface, they state that they seek to show that the "established methods of judicial interpretation ... are widely neglected," that this neglect has had lots of bad consequences, and that it is "not too late to restore a strong sense of judicial fidelity to texts" (p. xxvii). In their third paragraph, they state that just as meaning generally is determined by convention, so in legal systems "there are linguistic usages and conventions" as well as "jurisprudential conventions" (p. xxvii). To that end, they set forth and explain 57 interpretive principles or canons and they expose thirteen widespread falsities.
Posner seems badly confused about the basics of their project:
1. At one point, Posner states that Reading Law "is Scalia's response to the criticism" of his Second Amendment ruling in Heller v. District of Columbia. Anyone who has even skimmed Reading Law would recognize that assertion to be preposterous. As Garner states in his response to Posner:
What? I spent three-and-a-half years immersing myself in the literature of statutory interpretation, scouring hundreds of books and a thousand-plus articles to write a full-length treatise, merely to help my coauthor respond to criticism about one case? What a breathtakingly and self-evidently farcical statement. Why write such a tome if its "real" purpose covers less than three pages? (There are two citations to Heller in the introduction and two pages totaling two paragraphs of discussion about Heller in the context of examining legal history.) No, that wasn't the book's purpose.
2. As I have already explained, whereas Scalia and Garner cite some 600 cases to illustrate particular points about their interpretive propositions, Posner instead leads the reader to think that they discuss a small number of cases as general "exemplars either of textual originalism or of a disreputable rejection of it." That misunderstanding, together with other sloppiness, fuels his baseless smear that Scalia and Garner misrepresent the cases they cite. (See my Part 2 and Part 3 posts.)
3. Among the strangest of Posner's sentences is this rhetorical question: "How many readers of Scalia and Garner's massive tome will do what I have done-read the opinions cited in their footnotes and discover that in discussing the opinions they give distorted impressions of how judges actually interpret legal texts?" (Emphasis added.)
It's bad enough that the far more appropriate question is mine: "How many readers of Posner's essay will do what I have done-read the opinions that he claims Scalia and Garner distort and discover that Posner is the one doing the distorting?" But the last clause of Posner's question indicates that he somehow thinks that Scalia and Garner are trying to describe "how judges actually interpret legal texts." In fact, their "approach is unapologetically normative, prescribing what, in our view, courts ought to do with operative language" (p. 9 (emphasis added). They are reacting against, and trying to remedy, the widespread judicial "neglect" of "established methods of judicial interpretation."
4. Posner vacillates between falsely attributing to Scalia and Garner a wooden reliance on dictionary meaning (see point 3 of my Part 1 post) and faulting the "remarkable elasticity" of their methodology. As to the latter charge, a sufficient response is: Elastic compared to what? Posner's methodology?!? Interpretation of legal texts is a craft, and, like other crafts, can be performed well or poorly. One purpose of their book is to enable well-intentioned judges to become better and more constrained judges by using the interpretive principles and canons properly.
Posner charges that Scalia and Garner's canons "provide them with the room needed to generate the outcome that favors Justice Scalia's strongly felt views on such matters as abortion, homosexuality, illegal immigration, states' rights, the death penalty, and guns." That charge has things backwards: Judges who recognize the proper constraints on when canons come into play will have less flexibility to pursue their own policy preferences than those who don't. (Posner's insinuation that Scalia has generated outcomes that match his putative views is also demonstrably false: Someone who strongly opposes abortion or homosexuality and who indulges his policy preferences would favor a reading of the Constitution that entrenches his position on those issues, not a reading, like Scalia's, that leaves the matter to the democratic processes to be decided either way (and to be revisited).)
One must wonder if Posner's real lament is that Scalia and Garner's sophisticated textualism doesn't correspond to the straw-man caricature that he and other non-textualists find convenient to dismember.
5. In the last part of his essay, Posner seems to imagine that Scalia and Garner's canons can't genuinely be textualist unless they derive directly from more fundamental textualist principles. But as Scalia and Garner explain, textualism operates within a system of already-existing (if sometimes badly neglected by judges) linguistic and jurisprudential conventions. Some of those conventions may well be arbitrary, and none need necessarily to have taken the form they have (which is why we call them conventions). But textualism, like language generally, operates against the backdrop of these conventions.
* * *
I have not attempted in these posts to provide an exhaustive account of Posner's errors. I have instead focused on those errors that show that his most incendiary charge-that Scalia and Garner have misrepresented the cases they cite-is false and that his review is untrustworthy and, indeed, incompetent.
Within the broad bounds of fair commentary, there is surely plenty of room for a responsible critique of Scalia and Garner's book. But Posner hasn't provided one.
You can read the earlier parts Whelan's critique here, here, here, and here.

This short video by Brad Mirakian juxtaposes Barack Obama's own words with our skyrocketing national debt. The Romney campaign should buy this video from Mr. Mirakian and run it, in my opinion:

His Maoist campaign slogan is "Forward." Yet Obama is taking us backwards, as in today's dismal jobs report.
How bad is it? AEI's James Pethokoukis explains: "It shows the U.S. labor market remains in a deep depression, generating few jobs and little if [any] income growth."
The perverse drop in the unemployment rate is a byproduct, as we have come to learn, of the hundreds of thousands of unemployed Americans who quit looking for work last month - four times as many as those who found jobs. Responding to a request for comment, the Manhattan Institute's Diana Furchtgott-Roth - former Department of Labor chief economist - tells us:
It's a tragedy that more Americans are dropping out of the labor force. The labor force participation rate, at 63.5 percent, is the same as in September 1981, at the beginning of the decade when millions of women marched into the labor force. We're moving backwards to a dependency society.

Democratic Senate? What Democratic Senate?
Posted: 07 Sep 2012 07:58 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
We and countless others have noted that one of Barack Obama's more annoying qualities is his refusal ever to take responsibility for anything. But he isn't alone; his entire party refuses to take responsibility for the fact that they control the Senate. One of the Democrats' strategies this year is to pretend that the Republicans are in charge of the always-unpopular Congress. That strategy is reflected in this fundraising email, which ostensibly came from Bill Clinton:
John -
The stakes couldn't be higher in the 2012 election.
The outcome will determine the direction our country takes for the next generation.
The last thing we want is to wake up the day after the election regretting that we didn't do enough to prevent the Republican Party from winning the White House and maintaining their grip on Congress.
Donate $3 or more today to win a Democratic majority and help President Obama achieve the change we need for America.
Let's take this opportunity to show the full force of our grassroots strength.
Sincerely,
Bill Clinton
I'm sure Harry Reid will be surprised to learn that he is a Republican, but it is easy to see why the Democrats want to disavow the Senate. Under their leadership, that body has achieved a new low in irresponsibility, failing to adopt a budget for more than three years, in violation of federal law. If there has been a more disgraceful performance in the history of Congress, I can't think what it would be.
Still, you wonder: is it really possible that the Democrats to whom the party's leaders address these fundraising please really don't know which party controls the Senate? Sadly, I think that in many cases, the answer is Yes.
