Afghan Forces Turning Against Their U.S. Trainers

American troops in Afghanistan face an increased threat from "insider" attacks in which the Afghan forces they are there to help and train are turning their guns on their American partners, raising serious questions about the viability of the U.S. mission in Afghanistan.

The attacks, which have killed 40 U.S. and NATO troops so far this year, are also referred to as "green-on-blue attacks," because Afghan forces' uniforms are green and allied forces' uniforms are blue.

Who are the Afghan security forces? While the Afghan Army leaders are professional and committed to working with their American counterparts, the recruits are mostly rural, illiterate men who can become disgruntled by cultural differences with their American trainers or susceptible to insurgent bribes or intimidation. U.S. military officials attribute only about 10 percent of the insider attacks to Taliban infiltration, despite Taliban claims of responsibility for most of the attacks.

There are about 350,000 Afghan security forces, including the police and army. As of October 1, there will be 68,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The U.S. strategy in Afghanistan is centered on being able to train the Afghan forces so they can eventually face down the insurgent threat on their own. If the number of insider attacks does not abate, it will be increasingly difficult to justify a large-scale U.S. troop presence in the nation.

Heritage's Peter Brookes writes in the New York Post this morning:

Despite efforts by Coalition forces and the Afghan government to combat the violence through better screening, vetting, monitoring and counterintelligence, this isn't going to be an easy problem to fix.

The Taliban, the Haqqanis and al Qaeda will continue to look for willing recruits to do their dirty work, developing "penetrations" of the Afghan army and police force to turn on their mentors and trainers.

The psychological effects of trainees turning their weapons on their trainers is devastating to American troops and the 40 coalition partners in the country. President Obama needs to engage on this issue and seek to raise confidence in his overall Afghanistan strategy. The increase in insider attacks threatens the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, and U.S. officials must work closely with their Afghan counterparts to stop the attacks. President Obama has largely avoided talking about the Afghan war and has focused mainly on troop withdrawal schedules, rather than inspiring confidence in U.S. strategy and showing commitment to U.S. goals in the region.

While President Obama has been drawing down U.S. troops in Afghanistan, he has attempted to negotiate with the Taliban-despite the fact that the Taliban has renounced neither terrorism nor its support for al-Qaeda. If the Taliban is able to regain influence in Afghanistan without breaking ties with international terrorism, al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups could re-establish a haven there.

Heritage's Lisa Curtis reminds us that the military gains made against the Taliban over the past two years are "still fragile." "It would be unwise for the U.S. to make major concessions before the Taliban has renounced international terrorism and demonstrated willingness to compromise politically," Curtis has written.

Just a few months ago, the Taliban criticized the Afghan government for moving forward with a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the U.S., saying America's goal was to prevent the institution of a true Islamic government and to establish an army hostile to Islam that protects Western interests in the region.

Instead of focusing so much energy and attention on trying to negotiate with the Taliban, the U.S. should be empowering and organizing anti-Taliban elements into a cohesive political force. That includes encouraging Pakistan to end its support for the Taliban-and to stop providing safe haven to any terrorist networks.

Curtis says the U.S. can still achieve its goals in Afghanistan as long as it does not rush troop withdrawals:

President Obama's continued focus on troop withdrawals gives the impression that the U.S. is rushing for the exits, which is creating fear and uncertainty among the Afghans and causing President Karzai to become a less reliable partner. The scope and pace of withdrawals over the next two years should be determined by U.S. military commanders on the ground, not by U.S. electoral politics.

We cannot forget that the Afghanistan mission is to prevent the country from becoming the terrorist training ground it was before 9/11. While troops are focused on establishing security for average Afghans and fostering a democratic society there, the outcome directly affects the U.S. homeland.

"I don't know how many Muslims work in the U.S. government, but I feel pretty safe saying there are thousands. As a federal prosecutor on terrorism cases, I had the privilege of working with several of them. These were patriotic American Muslims, and a number of Muslims who may not be Americans but who have embraced America and the West. Without them, we could not have infiltrated jihadist cells in New York and stopped terrorists from killing thousands of people. Without them, we could not have translated, understood and processed our evidence so it could be presented to a jury as a compelling narrative. Pro-American Muslims serve honorably in government, in our military, in our intelligence services, and in our major institutions."

Such individuals are to be distinguished from Islamists, who, to varying degrees, support and/or whitewash the radical and supremacist agendas of Sharia Law and jihadism, be it of the violent or the stealth variety, and of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist organizations.

Kicks Off Nationwide With Release Of Documentary Short Film Titled "Dishonorable Disclosures"

Former CIA and Special Operations members are announcing the creation of OPSEC, a new nationwide public campaign to combat the spike in leaks and politicization of Intelligence and Special Operations missions that threaten their effectiveness and the safety of Americans who conduct them. OPSEC - short for Operational Security, meaning to eliminate or reduce the exploitation of critical information - will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a new documentary short film highlighting the problem from the perspective of those who have served in these critical positions. The film will also serve as the basis for a TV and online advertising effort.

"Intelligence and Special Operations members are angry and frustrated at how our work has been used for political advantage by officials across government, including President Obama himself who bears special responsibility as Commander in Chief," said Scott Taylor, chairman of OPSEC and a former Navy SEAL. "We want the American people to understand the cost of these leaks and politicization both on those who serve and on our national security and to hold those in positions of leadership accountable if it doesn't stop."

OPSEC is made up of individuals who served their country in the CIA, and Special Operations Forces (SOF) consisting of Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces, Marine Corps and Air Force Special Operations. It is organized as a 501(c)(4) nonpartisan public education campaign and is independent of any political party or campaign organization.

The campaign will begin with the release of "Dishonorable Disclosures," a documentary short film that views the impact of the increasing number of leaks on Intelligence and Special Operations missions, tradecraft, tactics and capabilities from the perspective of those who have relied on these tools to carryout similar missions and protect themselves and those they served alongside. The film will be shown at events in key states across the country over the next several months, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada. Now, I'm going to give it to you straight. Because after 27 years as a Navy SEAL officer - including serving as Commanding Officer of Naval Special Warfare Center, where our proud Navy SEALS train - I don't know any other way.

Barack Obama has waged war on America's military from the day he took office.  

He's already cut our defense budget so deeply that his own Secretary of Defense called it "devastating" to our national security. And the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff warned that because of Obama's cuts, "we would no longer be a global power."

NEW YORK: The first session of the International Freedom Defense Congress, the operating body of the human rights organization Stop Islamization of Nations (SION), will be held in New York on September 11, 2012. The principal focus of the Congress will be a media workshop pertaining to Islamic supremacist attempts to restrict the freedom of speech in the free world, and the smear campaigns against freedom fighters in newspapers and media institutions in the West.

"The objective of this first-of-its-kind workshop is to develop media-related mechanisms to address the smear campaigns," SION said in a statement. It will also address the media's double standard regarding Islam and other religions, as epitomized in March 2012 by the New York Times' running of an anti-Catholic smear ad and rejection of a SION ad telling the truth about Islamic jihad.

It said the workshop will discuss at length the reasons behind and the results of the Western media's offensive campaigns against freedom of speech and the truth about Islam, jihad, Islamic supremacism and Muslims, which it added still occur from time to time.

Freedom fighters from all over the globe, journalists, intellectuals and academicians will be among the participants in the workshop, which will consist of brainstorming sessions to develop mechanisms for cooperation with external partners, and to develop an action plan to address the phenomenon of the Islamic war against free speech.

The organization noted that the workshop is of particular importance as it is the first ever to address the implications of Resolution 16/18 of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the stated goal of which is to "combat intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatisation of, discrimination, incitement to violence, and violence against persons based on religion or belief," but which is actually designed to restrict truthful speech about Islamic supremacism and jihad, so as to render the West mute and defenseless before the advancing threat of jihad and Sharia.

Resolution 16/18, which was adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva in March 2011, was backed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the most recent Istanbul Process Conference in Washington in December.

This is widely viewed as a significant step toward furthering OIC efforts to destroy the freedom of speech and impose Sharia blasphemy laws on the free world.

"We are holding this Congress on the eleventh anniversary of the day jihad came to America in order to strike a blow for freedom," Geller said.

Dear Patriots,   

Peco has stopped installing Smart Meters which are part of UN Agenda 21 (Sustainable Development).  If you have had a Smart Meter installed on your home, you should immediately call Peco and tell them to remove it.  These fires have been reported in other states after the meters were installed.

For those that have already had the Smart Meter installed on their home, Peco will return, test the meter, and place a warning sign on the meter with a device that should a fire start, the meter will shut off.  New reports are that Peco has switched overnight to another provider for these meters, assuring the public that these will be safe. Are we to trust this company, the same one that put fire hazards on 186,000 homes in PA? 

Now is the time to act!  The ball is in our court.  I will be trying to go up to Harrisburg in September to push to get legislation out of committee.  Maybe we are being given time to stop part of UN agenda 21.

Call PECO and tell them no to the "new technology" meters.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

Victory Center" on Facebook

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.

Al-Qaeda-Allied Qatar Buys into Europe's Busiest Airport

London's Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in the European Union with 70 million passengers passing through its corridors. It is busier than France's Charles de Gaulle Airport and Spain's Madrid-Barajas Airport. It has more than three times the traffic of New York's JFK Airport and receives flights from around the world. Heathrow's operator, BAA Limited operates multiple airports in the UK, including two in London and two in Scotland. And the Qatari monarchy has just bought a fifth of BAA.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of September 11, was a former employee of the Qatari government. Mohammed had coordinated a mass air bombing plot with his nephew, Ramzi Yousef, who had been behind the original World Trade Center attack, and had wired him money from Qatar for the World Trade Center bombing.

The 9/11 Commission Report states that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was able to evade capture after the World Trade Center bombing due to the intervention of a prominent Qatari official, widely believed to be Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, and the Minister for Islamic Affairs at the time. Presently Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Thani is Qatar's Minister of the Interior.

Just over a week ago, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi effectively precipitated a palace coup. He sacked his top intelligence chief, the country's military leadership, and other key members of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) in the space of five days. A constitutional document limiting his powers was largely scrapped. Meanwhile, the Obama administration deliberately ignores the unfolding debacle, a monster of its own creation, and forges ahead with a policy completely contrary to American security interests.

Will Thomas Curry, President Obama's March 2012 appointee as the new Comptroller of Currency (OCC), follow the bipartisan US Senate Homeland Security Subcommittee's report recommending revocation of HSBC's charter to operate as a bank in the United States?  Or will the OCC continue to permit HSBC to facilitate the transfer of funds to terrorist organizations, Iran and drug cartels?  HSBC is the abbreviation for Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.

The United States Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations issued a report on July 16, 2012 which stated in part: 

• In 2010, HSBC was cited by its federal regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), for multiple severe AML deficiencies, including a failure to monitor $60 trillion in wire transfer and account activity; a backlog of 17,000 unreviewed account alerts regarding potentially suspicious activity; and a failure to conduct AML (anti-money laundering) due diligence before opening accounts for HSBC affiliates.  Subcommittee investigators found that the OCC had failed to take a single enforcement action against the bank, formal or informal, over the previous six years, despite ample evidence of AML problems. 
• Circumventing OFAC Safeguards.  Foreign HSBC banks actively circumvented U.S. safeguards at HUBS designed to block transactions involving terrorists, drug lords, and rogue regimes.  In one case examined by the Subcommittee, two HSBC affiliates sent nearly 25,000 transactions involving $19.4 billion through their HBUS accounts over seven years without disclosing the transactions' links to Iran.
• Servicing High Risk Affiliates.  HSBC's U.S. bank, HBUS, offered correspondent banking services to HSBC Bank Mexico, and treated it as a low risk client, despite its location in a country facing money laundering and drug trafficking challenges, high risk clients like casas de cambio, high risk products like U.S. dollar accounts in the Cayman Islands, a secrecy jurisdiction, and weak AML controls.  The Mexican affiliate transported $7 billion in physical U.S. dollars to HBUS from 2007 to 2008, outstripping other Mexican banks, even one twice its size, raising red flags that the volume of dollars included proceeds from illegal drug sales in the United States.

Bloomberg reported on July 25, 2012 HSBC Fined $27.5 Million in Mexican Money-Laundering Probe.  HSBC Holdings Plc (HSBA), Europe's biggest bank, said its Mexican unit paid a $27.5 million fine to the nation's regulators for non-compliance with money-laundering systems and controls.  The infringements relate to the late reporting of 1,729 unusual transactions and the failure to report 39 others, the London-based bank said in a statement today.  Click here to read the full report at Bloomberg. 

Additionally, HSBC operates under strict Sharia supervision.  HSBC Amanah web site HSBCAmanah.com provides "Islamic Financial Solutions" with "Full Sharia Supervision." HSBC which has extensive operations in the United States "is one of the Western world's leaders in Sharia-Compliant Finance and was recently fined after having been revealed to have been a facilitator for terrorism financing, money laundering and narco-terrorism" according to Shariahfinancewatch.org

The United States Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee rebuked the OCC for their failure to act "In an age of international terrorism, drug violence in our streets and on our borders, and organized crime, stopping illicit money flows that support those atrocities is a national security imperative," said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., subcommittee Chairman. "HSBC used its U.S. bank as a gateway into the U.S. financial system for some HSBC affiliates around the world to provide U.S. dollar services to clients while playing fast and loose with U.S. banking rules.  Due to poor AML controls, HBUS exposed the United States to Mexican drug money, suspicious travelers cheques, bearer share corporations, and rogue jurisdictions.  The bank's federal bank regulator, the OCC, tolerated HSBC's weak AML system for years.  If an international bank won't police its own affiliates to stop illicit money, the regulatory agencies should consider whether to revoke the charter of the U.S. bank being used to aid and abet that illicit money."

If you bank with HSBC you are supporting one of the largest financial institutions in the world that support Sharia and transfer funds for terrorists.   There will be more alerts on this issue.

HSBC currency violations warrant revocation of bank charter according to US Senate subcommittee.

I was alarmed to read the United States Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations July 16, 2012 report which found that "HSBC and its U.S. affiliate exposed the U.S. financial system to a wide array of money laundering, drug trafficking, and terrorist financing risks due to poor anti-money laundering controls."

It is difficult to comprehend why "The bank's federal bank regulator, the OCC, tolerated HSBC's weak AML system for years" as pointed out by Senator Carl Levin.

It is perplexing that "Foreign HSBC banks actively circumvented U.S. safeguards at HUBS designed to block transactions involving terrorists, drug lords, and rogue regimes" without swift response from OCC.

I wholeheartedly agree with Senator Levin's assessment that "If an international bank won't police its own affiliates to stop illicit money, the regulatory agencies should consider whether to revoke the charter of the U.S. bank being used to aid and abet that illicit money."

HSBC's multitudes of violations which threaten the health, safety and welfare of all Americans have gone on far too long.  I urge you to revoke HSBC's bank charter.

The End of the Alternative Media

The death of the Village Voice has drawn out a coterie of mourners bowing their heads over the venerable radical rag, but their orations at its funeral are completely wasted. The death of the Voice is not due to mismanagement, the right wing or its complicity in human trafficking. After all, its former competitor, the New York Press, which forced it to go free instead of charging a buck fifty, died fairly recently. The end of the Village Voice has to be seen in the context of the death of alternative media.

 

The passing of the Village Voice, its thick greasy pages smudged with desperate cries for attention in between glossy cigarette ads and phone sex ads, also coincides with the passing of the bohemian nature of the East Village, now little more than tall glowering condos and coffee shops. To those residents who showed up there in the 70's and 80's bearing art school portfolios and a burning desire to be part of the "Scene", it's one more triumph of the capitalist running dogs over the "People".

But the real reason that the Village Voice is dead is because the alternative media is dead and the alternative media is dead because there is nothing for it to be an alternative to. New Yorkers can just as easily read shrill rants about the NYPD in the Daily News, pretentious movie reviews for artsy films at The Onion and leftist denunciations of the War on Terror in the New York Times.

A Democrat Abortion Convention?

Washington is awash with rumors that the Democrats will make abortion rights a major theme at their convention. Today they announced that Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Sandra Fluke, the reproductive rights activist who is campaigning for free (taxpayer-funded) contraception, will be prominent speakers at the Democrat National Convention next month. Democrats are going to the mat over their extreme pro-abortion agenda.

Some Republicans already have the shakes about it. It scares them to death. The GOP fear is misplaced. I hope and pray Obama/Biden/Pelosi/Reid fill the program with speakers emphasizing their support for abortion-on-demand.

In fact, I recommend they also devote a night to their plan to give America same-sex "marriage." If the Democrats do that, assuming the GOP leadership has half a brain, we will win a landslide victory in November.

The Democrats are the extremists on abortion. They defend partial-birth abortions in which babies in the 6th and 7th month of pregnancy are brutally aborted by puncturing their skulls. They refuse to condemn sex-selection abortions. They insist that taxpayers pay for abortions. They oppose any parental involvement when it comes to abortions for minor children. Biden actually made excuses for China's forced abortion policy.

So I repeat -- please, please, Democrats. Tell us every day how committed you are to all abortions with zero regulations, abortions paid for by taxpayers who are losing their homes and going on food stamps because of your economic policies.

Elect us, America, and we will abort Obama's failed economic agenda and save the babies!


Good News On The Platform

Speaking of abortion and party conventions, there is good news on the GOP platform. This year's platform is once again strongly pro-life. The delegates reaffirmed the call for a human life amendment and legislation extending 14th Amendment protections to unborn children. Below are excerpts of the draft pro-life plank:

"Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children.

"We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion or fund organizations which perform or advocate it and will not fund or subsidize health care which includes abortion coverage. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life."

If this is a fight Democrats want to have, we can win it! The American people are with us. Only 25% of the public shares Obama's radical view that abortion should be legal anytime for any reason.


Good News On Marriage Too!

Conservative members of a platform subcommittee were able to preserve the platform's strong language on traditional marriage. An attempt to include civil unions in the platform was "resoundingly rejected," while language supported by conservatives was included. Here is an excerpt of the draft platform statement on marriage:

"The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children.

"Children raised in intact married families are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to use drugs and alcohol, are less likely to engage in crime and are less likely to get pregnant outside of marriage.

"The success of marriage directly impacts the economic well-being of individuals. Furthermore the future of marriage affects freedom. The lack of family formation not only leads to more government cost, but also more government control over the lives of its citizens in all facets."

That last paragraph is an especially important consideration that I hope Republican candidates at every level will come to appreciate and emphasize, just as Mitt Romney did in his speech to the NAACP.

There is no government program that can make up for the breakdown of the family. Those who insist we ignore values issues in favor of a more libertarian, limited government message would do well to reconsider the relationship between the decline of the family and the growth of the big government welfare state.    

Two new polls deliver serious bad news to Obama's campaign

Two new polls have caught Barack Obama and the Democrats in a crossfire. A USA Today/Gallup survey of both national voter sentiment and the views of registered voters in 12 states identified as "battlegrounds" paints a bleak picture for Obama. When asked the "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" question, made famous by Ronald Reagan during his 1980 campaign against Democrat Jimmy Carter, respondents in the important "swing states"  told Gallup they were NOT better off by a wide 56/40 margin.

 The national response to this question was only slightly better for Obama as registered voters said they were NOT better off by a 55/42 margin. Gallup's accompanying report added, "While that question has been posed only episodically, when other recent presidents were seeking re-election, the current finding is the WORST IT'S BEEN when it was asked."

For the record I think Todd Akin is a good man who wants to protect life but I am suspect of his true courage. Nevertheless, we have a country to save and he has put our effort to save America in serious danger and that is a very important consideration.  

The clock is ticking for Todd Akin to do the right thing step aside and drop out of the Missouri Senatorial race. His GOP primary victory was engineered by $2million of Democrat Claire McCaskill's money.  She called him "Ultraconservative" which was just enough to transfer voters' dislike of her to a slim victory in a crowded field. McCaskill thought Akin would be the easiest to beat because he was "just" five points ahead of her in hypothetical match ups. RJC Rolls Out New
Buyer's Remorse Ad: "Brad"  

Washington, D.C. (August 22, 2012) -- The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) today released the next ad in its "My Buyer's Remorse" series, entitled "Brad."

"Brad" is an attorney who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and even donated money to his campaign. But now he says: "I don't think we can afford another four years of an administration that thinks it can create economic opportunity and growth by taxing people into submission.... I wish I didn't have to say it, but where we are right now and the situation we are in, domestically, and in my view internationally, I think we can do better than Barack Obama."

The new video is part of an ongoing series, in which real people tell their stories of why they voted for Barack Obama in 2008, how they became disillusioned with him, and why they won't vote for him in 2012.

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "The recession, unemployment, and the lack of opportunity in this economy are serious concerns for voters this year, including Jewish voters. Candidate Obama made a lot of promises about jobs and taxes and economic growth that President Obama has failed to keep. There is an increasing sense in the Jewish community that we're on the wrong track, and the RJC is letting individuals with buyer's remorse express that to a national audience."

Whole Foods and the evolution of capitalism 

Hippie-loved Whole Foods is a company that Glenn loves to hate. He has a great deal of respect for CEO, John Mackey, but he doesn't love the $1,400 they charge for a glass of milk. Mackey may stray towards over-regulation from time to time when it comes to food, but one thing is for certain: Mackey understands capitalism.
