5 Dead, 33 Wounded InTerrorist Attack On Israeli Tour Bus; Iran Blamed 

At least 5 Israelis were murdered today when a tour bus in Bulgaria filled with Israeli tourists was bombed in a terrorist attack.

33 people were reported wounded, 3 of whom are in critical condition. The victims include pregnant women and young children.

Volunteers from Israel's ZACA and Magen David Adom have alre4ady landed and are in Bulgaria.

The attack occurred outside the Sarafovo airport,en route to the Bulgarian resort of Burgas, a destination popular with Israeli tourists. It's uncertain whether the explosives were placed on the bus and then detonated or whether this was a suicide bombing,although Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov stated the explosives were placed in the trunk.

Bulgaria, which has a long established Jewish community of 7,000 has good relations with Israel.Bulgarian politicians from all spectrums voiced outrage at the attack.

Just to make you aware, Smartmeters are here.  After thorough investigation and talking with PECO, they are currently installing Smartmeters in PA.  Several people have contacted PECO and told them that we did not want the Smartmeter.  Their response is they run the risk of having their electricity turned off. 

Just a background on Smartmeters:  In 2008, Act 129 was passed and signed into law by Governor Rendell to make Smartmeters mandatory in PA.  How will this affect you?  You will be required to install a smart meter in your home which will be monitored by your electric company on a minute to minute basis.  The video below explains how the smartmeter was started and where they plan to go with this which will be monitored constantly (new utilities will have smart meter chips in them.

Do you want PECO or the Government monitoring your electricity usage?  If this is such a great thing, why is it being forced upon us and if not taken, you take the risk of having your power turned off.  Once on the grid, the government through PECO will be able to monitor each and control all of your electric utilities.  Do you want the department of energy monitoring your usage of electric via PECO and possibly turning off your electric and certain peak hours (as explained in this video).

What you can do:  Representative Reese from Westmoreland County has introduced two bills which are in the Consumer Affairs Committee.   ONE BILL WOULD ALLOW FOR OPTING OUT OF GETTING A SMART METER THE OTHER BILL WOULD REQUIRE CONSUMER CONSENT BEFORE INFORMATION FROM THE METER COULD BE SHARED WITH A GOVERNMENT AGENCY.   

Please contact the people listed in the link and let them know that we want these bills brought to the floor for the vote.  This is our local electric company being used for the UN Agenda 21 (Sustainable Development).   We need everyone's involvement so pass on to everyone you know.  Let's make an effort to get this out of committee.

All talking points when addressing voters or interviewers should only deal with "money" issues! The concept is, "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?"

Question:         Why has the current administration removed food and gas from the Inflation Index?

Answer:          To fool US! Removing food and gas from the Inflation Index shows that very little inflation is present benefitting the admninistration's propaganda. How much more are WE paying for such things as a gallon of gas - more than double what it was when Obama was elected - and basic food such as milk, cheese, meat, and fish? Do you think Obama refusing to allow oil drilling off the West and East coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska has driven up the price of gas?

Question:         Do you know how much California pays public schools for each student?

Answer:           California pays more than $14,000 for each student, $67 BILLION a year. If there are an average of 25 students in each public school classroom, that equals $350,000 per classroom. The average wage for a California elementary school teacher is approximately $50,000. That leaves $300,000 per classroom. Where's the money? Why do parents have to give teachers money each year to buy supplies like paper and pencils? Where's the money? Pensions? Benefits?

Question:         Does the Government abuse their credit card?

Answer:           At the end of each month WE must pay at least the minimum on each credit card. If WE don't pay the balance off each month, the credit card company charges US interest on the amount WE don't pay. At some point WE will discover that OUR balances are so high that WE will never be able to pay off OUR credit card debt, and must declare bankruptcy. Our government continues to borrow $.40 of every dollar spent! This is a "credit card" WE can never pay off! It has to stop!

Question:         How much is Obama's portion of the National Debt, really?

Answer:           Do WE as taxpayers really owe that $5 TRILLION dollars that Obama ran up? In fact, WE taxpayers owe $10 TRILLION dollars, not just $5 TRILLION! What did WE taxpayer's get for that $5 TRILLION dollars of any value to offset that $5 TRILLION debt? Apparently nothing! Money doesn't disappear into thin air - it goes somewhere to somebody! Wouldn't you like to know who got it?

Without this information YOU are powerless to change anything. Elected officials do NOT want you to have that information because you could hold them accountable. I bet a lot of them would wind up in prison! It is in their interest to keep you in the dark. It is up to you to turn on the lights!

I wanted to get out the information about the Romney HQ Grand Opening as soon as possible so you have it. I'll put together a summary of the July 12 meeting when I have more time.

It should be noted that we are not a shill for the moribund Republican establishment. You've got your RINOs, but don't forget you've also got your Mitch Daniels's and Scott Walkers and Steve Kings - true patriots. We should target our anger not at the Party, but at what's wrong with the party. We are working on that.

Bottom line, I think we all agree that the tide of the River Socialism is rising, and we ALL must come to the banks to stack sandbags. When it comes to fighting for liberty and America, come one come all. I think Dan's words last night were good, and spoken in earnest. The Repubs and the Tea Party have a single goal, to stave off this culture of entitlement, to stay out of world government, to knock down the imposition of our Federal govt. The R-party has tools we can use, we will use them and be happy warriors while doing it. I don't feel ashamed of working for Mitt anyway - he seems like a "good guy" (in that the left is clamoring for skeletons in the closet and failing miserably), and who knows, maybe he'll surprise us and bring the country together under liberty.

• The Montgomery County Victory Center is celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, July 14 at 9:00am, and we are very excited to announce that Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey will be joining us to help open our office. This event will kick off our efforts to turn Montgomery County red this November, and to help restore fiscal accountability to Washington. Along with the morning festivities, we will be phone banking and door knocking, to make sure Montgomery County residents know the harm that Obama's economic policies are doing to the country.

• Senator Pat Toomey represented the Lehigh Valley in Congress from 1999-2005, where he earned a name for himself as a strong fiscal conservative who was not afraid to buck his own party on spending. "Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. The End of Welfare Reform As We Know It

The Obama Administration made yet another end run around Congress last week-this time, to gut the successful welfare reform law of 1996. If this is allowed to stand, it will mean rewinding years of progress that lifted millions out of poverty.

Before the 1996 reform, welfare was a one-way handout: Government mailed checks to recipients who did nothing in return. The new program the reform law established, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), changed all that. It required able-bodied welfare recipients to work, prepare for work, or at least look for work as a condition of receiving aid. Welfare reform turned "welfare" into "workfare."

At the time, liberals denounced the new law and predicted dire consequences for America's needy. They said the reform would do "serious injury to American children" and "substantially increase poverty and destitution."

There was "absolutely no evidence that this radical idea has even the slightest chance of success," they said, crying that "No piece of legislation in U.S. history has increased the severity of poverty so sharply."

In reality, the exact opposite turned out to be true.

After reform, the welfare caseload promptly dropped by 50 percent.As the caseload plummeted, employment and earnings among recipients experienced an unprecedented surge upward. As Heritage's Robert Rector reported:

As welfare dependence fell and employment increased,child poverty among the affected groups fell dramatically. For a quarter-century before the reform, poverty among black children and single mothers had remained frozen at high levels. Immediately after the reform, poverty for both groups experienced dramatic and unprecedented drops, quickly reaching all-time lows.

Still, the left fought the work requirements. But after legislative attempts to do away with them failed over the years, the Obama Administration decided to rescind the reforms without Congressional approval. This Administration has had no problem acting in an imperial way, rewriting law on its own, whether its new dictates are legal or not. In fact, Heritage legal scholars have determined this latest move is indeed illegal.

What did they hate so much? The reform simply reflected Americans' willingness to help their neighbors in need, on the condition that welfare recipients do what they can to help themselves as well.

Under the law, some 40 percent of adult TANF recipients in a state were required to engage in "work activities," defined as unsubsidized employment, subsidized employment, on-the-job training, attending high school or a GED program, vocational education, community service work, job search, or job readiness training. Participation was part-time, 20 hours per week for mothers with children under six and 30 hours for mothers with older children.

In the past, state welfare bureaucrats have attempted to define "personal care activities," "massage," "motivational reading," "journaling," attending Weight Watchers, and "helping a friend or relative with household tasks" as work activities. Expect far more of this in the future as no-strings-attached handouts again displace workfare.

Instead of helping people get back on their feet-from job training to obtaining employment-welfare will now go back to locking them in a cycle of dependence on the government.

President Obama has made no secret about his plans to expand the welfare state permanently. He has increased spending on federal means-tested welfare ("means-tested" benefits are doled out according to the recipients' income levels) by a third since taking office. And he plans to increase this even further after the current recession ends, calling for a permanent increase in annual means-tested spending from 4.5 percent to 6 percent of gross domestic product. Overall, President Obama plans to spend $12.7 trillion on means-tested welfare over the next decade.

The welfare-to-work provisions of the TANF law were a real bipartisan success story-which is rare in a federal government with more than 80 means-tested welfare programs that provide cash, food, housing, medical care, and social services to poor and low-income people.

At the beginning of last week, only two of these programs had active work requirements. With Obama's latest order, the list is now down to one.

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.

1. Was Barack Obama Lying Then or Now?

We all learned yesterday that if you accurately quote Barack Obama's speeches or fictionalized accounts of his life that he penned, you are automatically taking him out of context. And, as Kevin Eder noted on twitter, you're racist.

Conservatives, such as myself, who dared quote Barack Obama's Friday entry into grade school Marxism in Virginia are being attacked for taking him out of context. The quote supposedly being taken out of context is Mr. Obama saying, "If you've got a business - you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

We supposedly took it out of context because the preceding sentence in the speech was, "Somebody invested in roads and bridges." The morons at Media Matters and elsewhere would have us believe that Mr. Obama's comments about building business had to do with government building infrastructure. Not only is that a nonsensical lie, to believe that one actually would have to take Barack Obama out of context.

In context, Mr. Obama started off saying, "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive," among other things. He was preaching grade school Marxism that those who have become the most successful got there because of the hard work of others, not their own hard work, and therefore they must have their private property confiscated by the government through taxes to be redistributed to others in the name of fairness. Go all the way to December 6, 2011, in Osawatomie, Kansas and the President has been sounding a consistent tone.

2. Congressional Republicans Conspiring With Liberals Behind Closed Doors to Raise Taxes

Congressional Republicans led by Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming have begun negotiating behind closed doors with liberals like Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois to raise Americans' taxes. They introduced their internet tax as an amendment to a Senate small business bill, but that bill stalled. Now they are confident they can sneak the internet tax into a lame duck session of Congress, just in time for Christmas shopping.

3. On Mitt Romney's Taxes

Let me just cut to the chase on this so we can move on. Mitt Romney is going to release those tax returns. You know it and I know it. Mitt Romney caves every time when the pressure mounts exponentially. With National Review on one side and the Washington press corps on the other, both pushing him on this issue, he is going to cave. We all know it. We also all knew in the primary this would be a problem and the Romney team put their head in the sand way back then.

I just wish before Mitt Romney caved he would tie release of his tax returns to Barack Obama releasing the Fast and Furious documents or his college transcripts or more. Romney might as well try to score some solid points on this before taking what will be spun, rightly or wrongly, as a hit.

4. The Establishment Hates Ted Cruz, You and Me

The most difficult thing to explain to your average Republican voter is how people like David Dewhurst, Charlie Crist and all the establishment, ladder-climbing, butt-kissing, near permanent political staff flacks who grow up to be lobbyists they put around them literally hate you, me, and conservative fighters like Ted Cruz. And newsflash - it's not just Washington, but in state capitols throughout America, just like Austin.

Why Isn't Anyone Asking Obama To Prove He's Not A Racist?

         According to conventional wisdom, Mitt Romney's pilgrimage to the NAACP convention last week wasn't a futile attempt to win a larger share of the black vote. Obama pulled 95% of the African-American vote in 2008 - doubtless due to the fact that 95% objectively determined that the man who served less than two years in the U.S. Senate and had zero real-world experience was best qualified for the job.

         Instead, we are told, Mitt's obeisance to the race-hustlers was an attempt to convince white suburban voters that he's not a racist by doing the inclusiveness mambo. Not surprisingly, the hand Romney reached out with was promptly spat on.

         NAACP Chairman Ben Jealous observed that by pledging to repeal Obamacare, Romney proved he has a "fundamental misunderstanding of the needs of many African-Americans" - which needs clearly consist of more government. Helping to destroy the black family and (under Obama) generating a 14.4% black unemployment rate are just a few of the many benefits Washington has lavished on African-Americans.

         Why is it that the Republican nominee is always assumed to be a racist (especially if he's a rich businessman) until proven otherwise? Why isn't Obama expected to prove that he's not a race-obsessed ideologue - Al Sharpton with a better haircut?

         If Romney has to address the NAACP to show he's not a racist, why doesn't Obama have to court the NRA, to prove that he respects the Second Amendment (He doesn't, by the way) or address the Zionist Organization of America to show he isn't anti-Israel, or go to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to let entrepreneurs know that he isn't trying to socialize the economy? None of these groups is any more partisan than the NAACP.

         The media reverently describes the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People as "the nation's oldest civil rights group," which is akin to calling the mafia a civic association. Like the Anti-Defamation League, the National Organization for Women and the League of United Latin American Citizens, the NAACP is a leftist lobby masquerading as a civil right group.

         Whatever the issue, the NAACP's position is as predictable as a New York Times' editorial: the Tea Parties tolerate bigotry and bigoted statements (according to a resolution adopted by its 2010 convention), voter ID laws are a "new poll tax," the 1992 LA riots were a "people's rebellion" (said then NAACP Executive Director Benjamin Chavis), racism "informs every aspect of policing" in the United States, and "America reeks of racism" (claimed former NAACP Chair Myrlie Evers-Williams).

         While calling on the Tea Parties to renounce alleged racism in their ranks, under Chavis, America's "oldest civil rights group" formed a "sacred covenant" with the rabidly anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic Nation of Islam.

         The NAACP's views on race coincide perfectly with those of our 44th president. Barack Obama is the biggest racist to occupy the White House since Woodrow Wilson.

         In 2008, when candidate Obama spoke condescendingly of those who, in times of trouble, bitterly cling to guns, Christianity or "antipathy to people who aren't like them," he was depicting working-class whites in small-town America as Bible-banging, gun-toting haters.

         When the lovely Michelle said that "the realities are that, you know, as a black man, Barack can get shot going to a gas station," the unstated premise was because whites are such homicidal racists that they'll shoot a black man on sight. But what would you expect in a country that's "just downright mean"?

         The reality is that the greatest danger to middle-aged black men pumping gas is young black men raised in families without fathers.

         The Rev. Jeremiah Wright was Obama's mentor, confidant and spiritual and political advisor for almost two decades. But, I kid you not, "Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms," the future president assured us - with a straight face.

         Obama never heard Wright say white racism "runs this country," or that on 9/11 "White America and the Western world" "got a wake-up call" about "ignoring black concerns." And he most certainly never heard the Reverend G-D America say, "America is still the No. 1 killer in the world," "whites and Jews are controlling the flow of information worldwide and oppressing blacks in Israel and America," and "You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk."

         In an association spanning two decades, Obama swears he never once heard Wright say anything remotely resembling the foregoing. The moon is made of Stilton and pigs have their own air force.

         What the reverend obviously didn't say clearly made an impression on the president. In the past 3 ½ years, the carefully crafted post-racial mask continually slips to reveal the Wright disciple beneath.

         In March, when neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman shot and killed black teen Trayvon Martin, Obama made the insightful observation (totally unprompted) that if he had a son "he'd look like Trayvon." The president was saying that the single most important aspect of the case was that Martin was black and Zimmermann was a "white Hispanic," leading him to suspect that it was a hate-crime.

         "All of us have to do some soul-searching," Obama intoned. Did we also have to search our souls when 49 people were shot in Chicago one weekend in April (10 fatally) - almost all black, as were the shooters?

         Be serious. It's only crimes that can be ascribed to white racism (for the president, the only kind that exist) which occasion an exploration of the soul. Obama may be obsessed with the way Trayvon looked, but last week the FBI concluded, based on an extensive investigation, that there was no evidence that Zimmerman was a racist.

         When 13 soldiers were murdered at Fort Hood, Texas by a holy warrior shouting "Allah is great," Obama wasn't about to rush to judgment. "We don't know all the answers yet. And I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts," the president warned us.

         Here the motivation was clear, but recognizing reality would be (gasp, oh no!) "Islamophobic" - so reality would be ignored, souls would not be searched and conclusions would be studiously avoided.

         In 2009, there was conclusion-jumping galore when a man who looked like the father the president never knew (if his sire had been a Harvard professor) had a run-in with the Cambridge police. According to the president, the cops "acted stupidly," when they arrested his friend Henry Louis Gates, after Gates became belligerent with an officer investigating a possible break-in, in what turned out to be the professor's own home.

         Regarding the arrest, Bill Cosby commented: "If I'm the president of the United States, I don't care how much pressure people want to put on it about race, I'm keeping my mouth shut."

         Not this president, who - besides indicting the police - told us how angry we were (or should be) over the incident, because "there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact." Like the fact that minorities disproportionately commit the crimes police are investigating?

         Attorney General Eric Holder is the only one in this administration who can out guilt-trip the president. On February 18, 2009, the attorney general was in rare racial-resentment form addressing Justice Department employees for Black History Month.

         "In things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways essentially a nation of cowards," Holder scolded. The American people "simply do not talk enough to each other about race."

         Unlike Holder's BFF, Reverend Sharpton, another neo-Nazi of color. "I am especially grateful ... for your partnership, your friendship, and your tireless efforts to speak out for the voiceless, to stand up for the powerless, and to shine a light on the problems we must solve, and the promises we must fulfill," the nation's attorney general gushed on April 11, 2012, speaking at the Reverend Mayhem's National Action Network.

         In 1991, Sharpton's powerful voice helped spark the Crown Heights pogrom, which led to the lynching of rabbinical student Yankel Rosenbaum. Perhaps our national conversation about race could include a discussion of taking responsibility for the consequences of anti-Semitic rhetoric. (Sharpton called Hasidic Jews "diamond merchants.")

         Anyway, Holder and Obama aren't interested in a conversation - a frank exchange of ideas - but a lecture, where some of us bow our heads respectfully and allow ourselves to be harangued about our collective sins, while periodically murmuring mea culpas.

         A genuine conversation about race would raise too many uncomfortable questions about things like the incidence of black-on-white crime or the rate of out-of-wedlock births among minorities.

         Or it could wander onto really dangerous ground, like the administration's embrace of race-based "justice," epitomized by DOJ's refusal to prosecute the New Black Panther Party over voter intimidation at a Philadelphia polling place on Election Day, 2008, involving two of its leaders in military garb, armed with nightsticks, menacing voters with racial slurs.

         A former civil-rights lawyer in Robert F. Kennedy's Justice Department said it was "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" he had ever seen.

         Despite a default judgment, the Obama Justice Department (at the urging of "America's oldest civil rights group") dismissed the case, prompting J. Christian Adams, a five-year DOJ veteran, to resign in protest. Adams said that many in DOJ (presumably, including Holder) believed that "civil rights laws should not be enforced against blacks or other racial minorities."

         But, hey, why get exercised over miscarriages of justice when the victims don't look like the son Obama never had?

         Filling in for his boss at the NAACP convention last week (to thunderous applause), Holder told "my people" why he was gunning for voter ID laws in 11 states, promising that he "will not allow political pretexts to disenfranchise Americans citizens of their precious rights."

         Holder would have us believe that it's perfectly reasonable to be asked to show a valid photo-ID to cash a check, board a plane or sign up for food stamps, but not to vote. Again, it's all about race - fraudulently increasing a vote the Democrats can count on 95% of the time, at the expense of the democratic process.

         While Obama and his underlings make justice and democracy victims of a reverse racism, Romney has to prove he's not a racist. In his NAACP speech, the governor said: "I hope to represent all Americans."

         That would be a welcome change.

 If Mitt Romney believed Barack Obama his equal, he would fight him from every possible legitimate avenue of attack, just as President Obama is proving there is nothing he won't do as he clings to lies and gutter tactics.

Instead, because his adversary is a Black man, he refuses to use the only sure-fire way to shut President Obama up, and drive him from the presidency in disgrace and possibly handcuffs, in defense of America. Release The Documents!

No, I'm not talking about Mitt Romney's tax returns. I'm talking about all of the documents and data that Barack Obama, unlike any president before him, has managed to hide from the American people with the collusion of the mainstream media.

We not only knew George W. Bush's grades, we knew Rick Perry's too! But Barack Obama has repeatedly refused to allow his grades to be released. Why? What is he hiding?

Is he a closet dunce instead of the intellectual giant the media present him as? Is there something about the courses he took -- or did not take (like Economics 101) -- that would embarrass him?

We heard incessantly that because of his family's wealth, Bush was able to buy his way into elite institutions. Ronald Reagan had to work his way through college and went to a small school in Illinois for which he was mocked by the elite media. Why don't know how Obama got through college? Where did the resources come from?

We know that there was a vacation which the Romneys put the family dog on the roof of their car. You can laugh that I am bringing this up, but I guarantee you that the Obama campaign has a list of dog owners. They will get a message from the Obama campaign a week before the election asking if they really want to put a man in the Oval Office who would treat his dog that way.

The Obama campaign in recent days has suggested that Mitt Romney may have committed a felony. On the other hand, Obama admitted that he used cocaine in the 70s. Has one reporter asked, "Mr. President, where did you buy your hard drugs? Cocaine is very addictive. Did you have any trouble kicking the habit? Is your dealer still alive? Why won't you tell us? What are you hiding?"

Once again, for the president to credibly make an issue out of Romney's failure to disclose his tax returns is so outrageous it makes my head explode! I would just say to the Romney campaign, do you get it now? They are going to make you into a monster, and you are going to spend the rest of your campaign on your heels unless you go after him with the same will to win as he has.

Governor Romney is a decent man, and I know this makes him uncomfortable. But frankly this isn't about Gov. Romney's sense of decency. It is about the future of this country. We lost the last time because John McCain was "too decent" to bring up Obama's radical past. This country can't afford four more years of the good guys being nice while freedom-grabbing socialists play by Chicago street rules.


Obama's Libor Scandal

Today in testimony before the Senate, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke admitted under oath that he first became aware of Libor manipulation in April 2008. I would assume that Treasury Secretary Geithner would have known about it before then, but certainly no later than then. According to the Wall Street Journal, Geithner did know by June.

The Bush Administration was effectively over six months later. Knowing how slow the bureaucracy works at times, I can understand why the federal behemoth might have been slow to act in the midst of the financial crisis.

But Bernanke and Geithner have remained in the government. For the past 40 months they have worked for Barack Obama, who regularly says that banking and financial institutions need more regulations. What good are new regulations if the ones on the books aren't being enforced? Criminal charges are being pursued now, but what took so long?

What we really need to know is how many other officials in the Obama Administration knew that interest rates were being manipulated? Isn't that more important than Mitt Romney's tax returns?


Obama Berates Businesses Owners

It's not surprising that Barack Obama is trying to turn Mitt Romney's successful business career against him. Romney wants his job. Unfortunately, Romney isn't Obama's only target. During a campaign speech in Virginia last week, Barack Obama continued his attack on successful business owners in America.

Here's what Obama told his audience:

"Look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own.  You didn't get there on your own.  ... If you've got a business, you didn't build that.  Somebody else made that happen."

Here we go back to Obama's Bizarro World. In Obama's mind, government creates jobs, and business owners have been successful, not in spite of government, but because of government. So they should be happy to pay higher taxes.

In Obama's mind, all money belongs to the government, and the only question is how much of your hard-earned dollars government will let you keep. Those comments revealed Obama's socialist, collectivist mindset as much as his remark to Joe the Plumber about "spreading the wealth around."  

Business groups are firing back. A top officer of the Chamber of Commerce wrote: "We should applaud the risk-takers and the dreamers who are willing to stand out from the crowd. Rather than denigrate what these people have done, we need to encourage more people to be like them." 

Dan Danner, president of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement:

"What a disappointment to hear President Obama's revealing comments challenging the significance of America's entrepreneurs. His unfortunate remarks over the weekend show an utter lack of understanding and appreciation for the people who take a huge personal risk and work endless hours to start a business and create jobs.

  "I'm sure every small-business owner who took a second mortgage on their home, maxed out their credit cards or borrowed money from their own retirement savings to start their business disagrees strongly with President Obama's claim."

A Great Speech

Governor Mitt Romney delivered an excellent speech yesterday in Pennsylvania. He hit Obama's failed record and highlighted the stark contrast in visions and values that this campaign represents. It was a speech the American people need to hear and one I urge him to deliver repeatedly over the next 111 days.

On the economy, Romney said the following:

"There are a lot of things that need to be done to improve healthcare but Obamacare is not the answer. We've got to replace it and get rid of it. ...The Chamber of Commerce went out to their members and surveyed them and ... three quarters said they are less likely to hire people because of Obamacare. You see, his policies did not help create jobs, they depressed job creation...

"And by the way, let me just note, this number, 8.2% unemployment, we have gone 41 months with unemployment above 8%. ...[Obama] said look if we let him borrow $787 billion in his first year, which Congress let him do, that he would hold unemployment below 8%, and it has not been below 8% since. ..."

"When you increase the number of regulations at a rate three times that of his predecessor, with a bill like Dodd-Frank ... you don't add jobs. When you have energy policies that say no to fracking and no to drilling offshore and no to drilling in Alaska, no to taking advantage of our resources here, when you say no to coal ... these things kill jobs and that's got to stop."

Gov. Romney also took on Obama's socialist view of government.

"You know something happened on Friday. President Obama exposed what he really thinks about free people and the American vision, and government, what he really thinks about America itself. ...He said this: 'If you've got a business, you didn't build that, somebody else made that happen.' That somebody else is government in his view. ...

"The idea to say that Steve Jobs didn't build Apple, that Henry Ford didn't build Ford Motor, that Papa John didn't build Papa John Pizza, that Ray Kroc didn't build McDonald's, that Bill Gates didn't build Microsoft, ... is insulting to every entrepreneur, every innovator in America and it's wrong. ...President Obama attacks success and therefore under President Obama we have less success and I will change that. ...

"I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature would be spoken by a President of the United States. ... Do we believe in an America that is great because of government or do we believe in an America that is great because of free people allowed to pursue their dreams and build our future?"

Then Governor Romney focused on the central point that makes America such a unique nation, a point I have stressed repeatedly in my speeches over the years. I was thrilled to hear him raise it yesterday:

"The President justifies taking more of what people earn by saying: 'Look, it's also our system of government that makes things possible for entrepreneurs and innovators,' and that's true. But let's stop and think about the government and what it tells us in its founding document, the Declaration of Independence. It does not say that the government gave us our rights; it said that God gave us our rights -- they come with us, not with government.

"It said that among our rights given to us by God, by our creator, were life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our capacity to build and lift ourselves and reach for the stars is not thanks to a government that says 'Fine.' It is instead thanks to a God who loves us and gives us those rights and those opportunities."

Democrats Demand More Of Your Dollars

Yesterday in his congressional testimony, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke urged senators to deal with the so-called "fiscal cliff" sooner rather than later in order to "reduce uncertainty and boost household and business confidence." House Republicans will vote soon on legislation to extend all the Bush tax cuts for one year in order to lay the groundwork for major tax reform and to prevent a massive tax increase on January 1, 2013. Senate Democrats, however, aren't listening to Bernanke's warning.

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a key member of Harry Reid's leadership team, delivered a speech Monday at the Brookings Institution demanding higher taxes on the "rich." She said: "There's absolutely no reason -- not one -- that we need to extend the tax cuts for the rich as a precondition for reforming the tax code. ...Republicans are going to have to accept that tax reform is ... going to have to raise revenue to help reign in the deficit."

Murray added that she was willing to "absolutely continue this debate into 2013." That means she and other Senate liberals are willing to let the country fall off the "fiscal cliff" and allow ALL of the Bush tax cuts to expire if they can't raise taxes on someone. Now who is holding the economy hostage?

Obama and his congressional allies just don't get it. The problem in Washington is not a lack of revenue, but too much spending. Raising taxes on the so-called "rich" won't make a dent in the deficit. I've reported this before, but it is worth repeating over and over again: According to the New York Times, economists estimate that raising taxes on those making $250,000 and more would raise about $85 billion a year.

Last year's federal deficit was $1,300 billion. So even after raising taxes on the rich, we're still $1,215 billion short of balancing the budget. Where is the rest of that shortfall going to come from? If Obama gets his way, it will come from you in 2014! Can you afford four more years of Barack Obama?

If Patty Murray can't think of one reason to renew the Bush tax cuts, how about 700,000 reasons? According to an analysis by Ernst & Young, that's how many jobs could be lost if she and Obama raise taxes!


Boy Scouts Stand Firm

For the past two years, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has quietly been reviewing its policy banning homosexuals from serving as scoutmasters. The organization has faced unrelenting pressure from the militant homosexual movement, left-wing politicians, Hollywood and corporate elites to change the policy.

Yesterday a BSA spokesman told the Associated Press that an 11-member committee unanimously reaffirmed the ban as "absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts."

The "tolerant" left is having fits, and is extremely intolerant of the Scout's decision to maintain its values. Please take a moment to encourage the Boy Scouts of America for standing firm. Use this link to send them a message of support.
