Now that I have walked precincts and spoken with voters, and presented my new lecture "Community Organizing to Win Elections!" numerous times, I can give you this empirical info on how we can win in 2012! If you attend neighborhood meetings, town halls, or just speak with your neighbors and friends, use the following tactic:
"Are you better off than you were four years ago? I'm not! I'm paying twice as much for gas and food. I have had to cut back on things I used to do and buy four years ago. I used to go out to eat three to four times each week, but now I can only go a few times a week because I'm paying so much more for everything!"
Use this analogy regarding the 2012 election when you speak to voters:
"Do you have a 401K or stock portfolio? You know, America is just like a business. If you bought stock in a company four years ago such as Apple, and they hired a new CEO right after, and during the past four years that new CEO ruined the company so that your stock went down in value, what do think should happen to that incompetent CEO? If you could, would you attend the annual stockholder's meeting and vote that incompetent CEO out? Would you vote to hire a more competent CEO? Of course you would!
America has an "annual stockholder's meeting" every four years! It is our Presidential Election! We are all stockholders in America, and it is our responsibility to have competent management running America ds that our "stock" in America increases in value! "
I have used this analogy in walking precincts and have changed the hearts and minds of voters by appealing to logic, reason, and their pocketbook! People vote with their wallets!

All talking points when addressing voters or interviewers should only deal with "money" issues! The concept is, "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?"
Question: Why has the current administration removed food and gas from the Inflation Index?
Answer: To fool US! Removing food and gas from the Inflation Index shows that very little inflation is present benefitting the admninistration's propaganda. How much more are WE paying for such things as a gallon of gas - more than double what it was when Obama was elected - and basic food such as milk, cheese, meat, and fish? Do you think Obama refusing to allow oil drilling off the West and East coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska has driven up the price of gas?
Question:Do you know how much California pays public schools for each student?
Answer:California pays more than $14,000 for each student, $67 BILLION a year. If there are an average of 25 students in each public school classroom, that equals $350,000 per classroom. The average wage for a California elementary school teacher is approximately $50,000. That leaves $300,000 per classroom. Where's the money? Why do parents have to give teachers money each year to buy supplies like paper and pencils? Where's the money? Pensions? Benefits?
Question:Does the Government abuse their credit card?
Answer:At the end of each month WE must pay at least the minimum on each credit card. If WE don't pay the balance off each month, the credit card company charges US interest on the amount WE don't pay. At some point WE will discover that OUR balances are so high that WE will never be able to pay off OUR credit card debt, and must declare bankruptcy. Our government continues to borrow $.40 of every dollar spent! This is a "credit card" WE can never pay off! It has to stop!
Question:How much is Obama's portion of the National Debt, really?
Answer:Do WE as taxpayers really owe that $5 TRILLION dollars that Obama ran up? In fact, WE taxpayers owe $10 TRILLION dollars, not just $5 TRILLION! What did WE taxpayer's get for that $5 TRILLION dollars of any value to offset that $5 TRILLION debt? Apparently nothing! Money doesn't disappear into thin air - it goes somewhere to somebody! Wouldn't you like to know who got it?
Without this information YOU are powerless to change anything. Elected officials do NOT want you to have that information because you could hold them accountable. I bet a lot of them would wind up in prison! It is in their interest to keep you in the dark. It is up to you to turn on the lights!

Last night, Glenn focused on the importance of commitment. A thousand-plus packed the auditorium, last night, July 16, at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, Pa. for a rally sponsored by Jewish Americans for Obama. While the crowd may have been almost all Jewish not all of them were for Obama and things at times got contentious with shouting matches breaking out in the audience.
The headline speaker was Democrat National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida's 20th District in Congress. Unexpected heckling to her claims that the President was a strong supporter of Israel visibly upset and flustered her.
Ms. Wasserman Schultz made her appearance quite late and this appeared to force the other speakers to go on longer than they had expected.
Daylin Leach, who represents the 17th District in the state senate, told the crowd that the Republican Party was full of anti-Semitism. He said, without irony in front of the synagogue's podium that the Republicans are theocrats who don't believe in separation of church and state, all the while describing the importance of his Jewish values. He, as did most of the speakers, reiterated the GOP's opposition to abortion as a reason they most not be allowed to have the presidency back. When he spoke dismissively that Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia would be opposed by those with Jewish family values, he was rebutted from the audience with a cry of "not true" stopping him cold.

In an interview with Jewish Life Television (JLTV), Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz failed to provide a single reason for Jewish voters to support President Barack Obama other than abortion, which she cast as somehow intrinsic to the values of the Jewish community. Later, in a separate response, she tried to defend Obama's abysmal record on Israel. But she did not--and indeed, could not--cite Israel as a reason Jews should support Obama.

'No Amendment is Absolute': Chuck Schumer Complains About the First Amendment on Senate Floor

Chuck Schumer is the last person in the United States Senate who you would expect to denounce the first amendment, especially considering the length his speeches usually get to. However, that's exactly what Mr. Schumer did today, taking to the Senate floor to support the draconian campaign finance law known as the DISCLOSE Act with a speech that included the following very odd statement:
SEN. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the DISCLOSE Act: "I believe there ought to be limits because the First Amendment is not absolute. No amendment is absolute. You can't scream 'fire' falsely in a crowded theater. We have libel laws. We have anti-pornography laws. All of those are limits on the First Amendment. Well, what could be more important than the wellspring of our democracy? And certain limits on First Amendment rights that if left unfettered, destroy the equality - any semblance of equality in our democracy - of course would be allowed by the Constitution."
"And the new theorists on the Supreme Court who don't believe that, I am not sure where their motivation comes from, but they are just so wrong. They are just so wrong."

Tom Smith For Senate Distribution Centers
FreedomWorks PA is in the process of creating regional distribution centers and satellite distribution centers for the Tom Smith For Senate Grassroots Campaign we are running. Currently, we already have developed quite a presence throughout the state, but we are looking for more, much more!!!
A regional distribution center would receive bulk order of materials such as yard signs, door hangers, bumper stickers and any other materials we create for this race. This center would be the main storage for a designated region and the satellite centers would come to get their materials from the main regional center. We will discuss the appropriate amount based on the demand for materials in the various areas. As people request materials from us, we simply refer them to the regional centers so that they may pick up a yard sign or two or whatever else they need. This cuts down on shipping costs and establishes a grassroots community of tea party patriots.
In order to supply our distribution centers in PA, we are currently looking for printing shops in our state that are owned by conservatives so that we can give them our business in the next few months when printing all of our materials for the Tom Smith for Senate race.

Dear Patriots,
I wanted to get out the information about the Romney HQ Grand Opening as soon as possible so you have it. I'll put together a summary of the July 12 meeting when I have more time.
It should be noted that we are not a shill for the moribund Republican establishment. You've got your RINOs, but don't forget you've also got your Mitch Daniels's and Scott Walkers and Steve Kings - true patriots. We should target our anger not at the Party, but at what's wrong with the party. We are working on that.
Bottom line, I think we all agree that the tide of the River Socialism is rising, and we ALL must come to the banks to stack sandbags. When it comes to fighting for liberty and America, come one come all. I think Dan's words last night were good, and spoken in earnest. The Repubs and the Tea Party have a single goal, to stave off this culture of entitlement, to stay out of world government, to knock down the imposition of our Federal govt. The R-party has tools we can use, we will use them and be happy warriors while doing it. I don't feel ashamed of working for Mitt anyway - he seems like a "good guy" (in that the left is clamoring for skeletons in the closet and failing miserably), and who knows, maybe he'll surprise us and bring the country together under liberty.

The Montgomery County Victory Center is celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, July 14 at 9:00am, and we are very excited to announce that Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey will be joining us to help open our office. This event will kick off our efforts to turn Montgomery County red this November, and to help restore fiscal accountability to Washington. Along with the morning festivities, we will be phone banking and door knocking, to make sure Montgomery County residents know the harm that Obama's economic policies are doing to the country.
Our office is located at 200 West Ridge Pike, in Conshohocken, at the corner of Ridge and Butler Pike. We are in the Plymouth Square Shopping Center, in the old Rockaway Bedding store, located between the REI and the Pets Plus.
Senator Pat Toomey represented the Lehigh Valley in Congress from 1999-2005, where he earned a name for himself as a strong fiscal conservative who was not afraid to buck his own party on spending. From 2005 until 2009 he served as the head of the Club for Growth, a pro-growth political action committee that promotes lower taxes, limited government, and economic freedom. In 2010 he rode the conservative wave into the US Senate, where he has distinguished himself as a fiscal conservative. Senator Toomey served on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction in the summer of 2011, and this fall he will become chair of the United States Senate Steering Committee, which focuses on conservative policy direction. He has proposed his own budget when Democrats in the Senate are now almost three years without drafting their own budget.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization
Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.
The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

For a number of years we've been hearing about the dreadful Law of the Sea Treaty, appropriately named LOST. It looks like the 2010 election scuttled attempts to make this horrendous treaty the law. We can thank Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) for leading the way on opposition to it as well as 10 new GOP Senators. Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry's (D-Mass.) was the big loser. Stupid is as stupid does.
Because 67 votes are required for the Senate to approve treaties, only 34 votes were needed to block LOST. There are 47 Republican Senators. Was your senator missing in action? Here are some Republicans who joined all the Democrats in supporting LOST: John McCain, Susan Collins, Scott Brown, Lisa Murkowski, and Lindsey Graham. Here's the list of the 34 Republican Senators who voted against LOST:

Just to make you aware, Smartmeters are here. After thorough investigation and talking with PECO, they are currently installing Smartmeters in PA. Several people have contacted PECO and told them that we did not want the Smartmeter. Their response is they run the risk of having their electricity turned off.
Just a background on Smartmeters: In 2008, Act 129 was passed and signed into law by Governor Rendell to make Smartmeters mandatory in PA. How will this affect you? You will be required to install a smart meter in your home which will be monitored by your electric company on a minute to minute basis. The video below explains how the smartmeter was started and where they plan to go with this which will be monitored constantly (new utilities will have smart meter chips in them.
Do you want PECO or the Government monitoring your electricity usage? If this is such a great thing, why is it being forced upon us and if not taken, you take the risk of having your power turned off. Once on the grid, the government through PECO will be able to monitor each and control all of your electric utilities. Do you want the department of energy monitoring your usage of electric via PECO and possibly turning off your electric and certain peak hours (as explained in this video).
What you can do: Representative Reese from Westmoreland County has introduced two bills whichare in the Consumer Affairs Committee. ONE BILL WOULD ALLOW FOR OPTING OUT OF GETTING A SMART METER THE OTHER BILL WOULD REQUIRE CONSUMER CONSENT BEFORE INFORMATION FROM THE METER COULD BE SHARED WITH A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. Please contact the people listed in the link and let them know that we want these bills brought to the floor for the vote. This is our local electric company being used for the UN Agenda 21 (Sustainable Development). We need everyone's involvement so pass on to everyone you know. Let's make an effort to get this out of committee.
I have contacted PECO and told them not to install a smartmeter on my house. I would suggest doing the same with your electric company. They need a loud outcry from the american people. I will also be putting this sticker on my meter. I will be editing the wording down below, but here it is.
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center appwill, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.
It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.
In 2010, one of the few candidates the GOP establishment and conservative activists agreed on was a businessman in Wisconsin named Ron Johnson. "Crazy!!!" people said. "It's Wisconsin. Russ Feingold!!!! Ron Johnson can't win."

And you know what? It's actually pretty awesome. Senator Johnson knows what he is talking about. Unlike our President, Ron Johnson ran a business, had people on a payroll, and turned a profit. He is to President Obama what Adam Smith was to Karl Marx - a breath of fresh air and honesty without class warfare pablum.

Of all the people to not be beating up Mitt Romney for his present not quite stellar campaign, I find myself in that position.
I'm genuinely not that worried.
First of all, remember that most of his primary money is gone so he can't spend on a fancy ad campaign right now. He can't spend his general election money yet.
Second, I like the aggressiveness over the past few days. Yesterday, he gave a great rebuttal to Barack Obama's grade school Marxism. John Sununu was actually spot on. Barack Obama really has no concept of American job creation.
Let me say that unlike some of my friends, I have concluded that it is not that Barack Obama is anti-American. I don't think he really hates America. I think Barack Obama is just profoundly ignorant about America and its free enterprise system. He wants to take over and "fix" that which he does not understand.

Anyone who has watched enough monster movies knows how hard it is to kill the monster. You can set Frankenstein on fire, stab Dracula through the chest with a wooden stake and take the Wolfman to the vet; but sooner or later they come roaring back twice as angry as ever.
The Israel Policy Forum, a left-wing group, which mated a few years ago with the Center for American Progress, has split away again to corner that booming market in Jewish organizations that hate Israel; but try to pretend not to when people are watching.
With J Street, Jewish Voice for Peace, Open Zion, Uri L'Tzedek and Americans for Peace Now, just to name a few, all boasting more column inches in the media than members, the revival of IPF is about as timely as opening up a bank dedicated to subprime loans. The market for Israel-bashing, like the market for underwater homes, is falling as fast as Obama's approval ratings.
In 2008, shortly before IPF merged with CAP, it sent out a letter urging Condoleezza Rice to find a way to bring Hamas into the peace process. So far, the Israel Policy Forum has had no luck with Hamas, but it has dragged in the usual left-wing Jewish millionaires and billionaires looking to ride roughshod over Israel and the Jewish community.
Israel Policy Forum, like Peter Beinart's Open Zion, is funded in part by Peter A. Joseph, who also serves as IPF's president. Joseph presides over Palladium Equity Partners, the kind of private equity firm that liberals pretend to bash when it's associated with Romney, but which they welcome when it's associated with a lefty. Like so many other lefties with big pockets and bigger egos, Joseph's money causes him to believe that he can hijack the Jewish community by spending money to create organizations full of fellow lefty millionaires and a few famous names with business ties to them.
The new IPF features David Avital, of the MTP Investment Group who founded Seeds of Peace. There's hedge fund billionaire Donald Sussman, Neil Barsky of Alson Capital Partners, Lawrence Zicklin, formerly of Neuberger Berman Financial Services, and James E. Walker III, who isn't actually Jewish, but is also an Obama donor and in the money management business. Finally there's Marcia Riklis, the daughter of corporate raider Meshulam Riklis, and another Obama donor.
Naturally all the financial guys brought along their lawyers and Israel Policy Forum is full of them, the slimiest of whom may be Melvyn Weiss who specialized in securities class action lawsuits, pleaded guilty to kickback charges and was sentenced to 30 months in prison. Weiss also had ties to Blagojevich and has been disbarred, but he's back out of prison and back at IPF..
With all these Wall Street guys and layers, IPF looks a lot like a hostile takeover and that's just what it is. It's one more attempt by the Anti-Israel left to stage a hostile takeover of the Jewish community and swing the agenda their way. But it didn't work with J Street and it won't work with IPF.

The Council on American Islamic Relations wrote a letter calling on the Florida Department on Law Enforcement and other officials to stop allowing terrorist expert Sam Kharoba from training their officers.
Hassan Shibly, executive director of CAIR (pictured right and in headline photo) in Tampa said. "He (Kharoba) encourages law enforcement officers to view Muslims with distrust. His training materials encourage law enforcement officers to profile and target Muslims." CAIR's letter to these officials claims that Kharoba's training manual says Islam favors war, not peace, and says countries with a 99-percent Muslim population are "ultimate Jihad-manufacturing societies."
And of course the liberal progressive media flocked to CAIR's aid by amplifying their uncorroborated accusations with the following published reports:
Sam Kharoba calls CAIR's accusations "baseless." Florida Family Association asked Mr. Kharoba "Does CAIR's accusations provide specific incident dates with the officers involved, where the incidents took place and victim names or at least victim descriptions?" Sam replied "No of course not. There are no specific names, dates or places." Mr. Kharoba provided this letter to Florida Family Association to express some of his concerns about CAIR.
Duke University researchreports during the ten years that followed 911 "Almost 200 Muslim-Americans have been involved in violent plots of terrorism over this decade, and more than 400 Muslim-Americans have been indicted or convicted for supporting terrorism." See conclusion on page 8 of report.
It was the training that law enforcement received from experts like Sam Kharoba with the Counter Terrorism Operations Center (CTOC) that saved many American lives from the Muslim-Americans involved in these jihadist plots.
If CAIR really desires good Islamic Relations with all Americans you would think that they would want highly skilled terrorist experts like Sam Kharoba to help law enforcement agencies to route out radical Muslims.

Simply put, people are not shopping at J.C. Penney. AFA and OneMillionMoms are showing success in the effort to educate people to Penney's aggressive national campaign to promote "gay" marriage.
The company is going downhill fast. Since February, the company stock has lost more than half its value, and Standard & Poor's Ratings Services lowered its credit rating on J.C. Penney Co. further into "junk" status.

You may think that Romney is not the best representative the Republicans could have selected. At least I know what religion he is, and that he won't desecrate the flag, bow down to foreign powers, or practice fiscal irresponsibility. I know he has the ability to turn around the financial debacle that we are currently in. We won't like all the things that will be necessary to recover from this debt-induced recession, but someone with Romney's background can do it.
But then again, on the minus side, He never was a "Community Organizer", never took drugs or smoked pot, never got drunk, did not associate with communists or terrorists, nor did he attend a church whose pastor called for God to damn the US.
It's your choice in November. Butremember that we're electing the leader of the free world. Character and moral values really do count.

While Democrats continue to accuse Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney of being a felon until proven otherwise, it's useful to remember an apparent felony that was allegedly committed by Barack Obama's White House in 2009: the attempted bribe of Democrat Joe Sestak. Sestak claimed the Obama administration offered him a job if he would stay out of the primary in Pennsylvania for the U.S. Senate seat then held by Arlen Specter.
Specter, formerly a Republican, had switched parties in April 2009, giving Democrats a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate that enabled them to pass any law they wanted. Until the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy that August, and the surprise victory of Republican Scott Brown in the special election that followed in Massachusetts in January 2010, the Obama administration hoped to use that majority to rush through health care reform.
Senior citizen Samuel Williams is being hailed as a hero this week after he sprung into action on Friday to thwart an armed robbery at an internet cafe. Supreme Court Might Not Enforce Constitution's Limits in Second Obama Term

Public officials and pundits are still digesting the Supreme Court's Obamacare decision in NFIB v. Sebelius. Yet to be discussed are the extraordinary implications for the size and role of government in a second Obama term in light of President Obama's new stump speech. It is clear there is not a reliable majority on the Court to restrain government power by enforcing the limits imposed by the Constitution.
Most provisions in the Constitution fall into two categories. The first are authority provisions, explaining the structure and powers of government. The second are liberty provisions, declaring certain rights of the people.
The original Constitution had only the former, because the latter were regarded as superfluous. If something was not found in a specific authority clause, it was automatically illegal and beyond the purview of the federal government. Political backlash from the Anti-Federalists and others led to some states threatening to withhold ratification unless a Bill of Rights was promptly added. Likely our fourth president James Madison would have lost his first congressional race to our fifth president James Monroe had Mr. Madison not joined Mr. Monroe's call to add the Bill of Rights to the nascent Supreme Law.
Obamanomics: The Final Nail in the Discredited Keynesian Coffin

Keynesian economics is the false vision of human action which says the way to promote economic recovery and renewed growth is through increased government spending, deficits and debt. If that sounds nuts, that's because it is.
The idea is that the increased government spending and deficits will increase demand in the economy for more production, and that producers will increase supply to meet that demand, hiring more workers and reducing unemployment in the process. Keynesian economics arose in the 1930s in response to the Depression. It never worked then, as the recession of 1929 extended into the decade long Great Depression. And it never worked anywhere it's been tried since then, in the U.S. or abroad.
By the 1970s, Keynesian policies had produced double digit unemployment, double digit inflation, and double digit interest rates, all at the same time, along with four successive worsening recessions from 1969 to 1982. Keynesian monetary policy involves running up the money supply to increase demand, with artificially lowered interest rates promoting more spending. That is where the inflation came from.

The Great Dissent Part IV: Why Medicaid Expansion is Unconstitutional

We can all be thankful that one thing the Supreme Court got right in the Obamacare decision was striking down at least part of the Affordable Care Act's massive expansion of Medicaid that would reduce the states to a subservient position before the federal government. Even two liberals--Justice Stephen Breyer and President Barack Obama's second appointee, Justice Elena Kagan--joined Chief Justice John Roberts' opinion invalidating a key provision in the ACA. But the four dissenters who wrote the Great Dissent would have gone further, striking down the entire expansion as an unconstitutional coercion of the states which violates the Tenth Amendment.
Following my overall analysis of the Obamacare decision, we decided to take up the call of the four dissenting justices, that this case should be a historic teaching opportunity to impress upon the American people the structure and nature of the Constitution and how its limits on government are to ensure the liberty and happiness of the American people by keeping government out of their lives.
Here is the fourth part of our five-part series on the Great Dissent. Part I discussed the dissenting justices' conclusion on why Obamacare must be struck down, and Part II explained why the Commerce Clause does not authorize the Individual Mandate. Part III explained why the Individual Mandate is not a tax, and why Mitt Romney was right both in saying that it was not a tax, but that it is one now because of the Supreme Court's stunning redefinition of the word "tax."

Tyrants and Human Nature By Walter E. Williams The agendas of liberals, progressives and assorted tyrants depend on aspects of human nature they often condemn, such as acquisitiveness, profit motive, self-interestedness and greed. This crossed my mind while reading "How Departures From Economic Freedom Can Affect Freedom In General," by Dr. John Taylor, a Hoover Institution scholar.
Last week, both Governor Mitt Romney and Vice President Joseph Biden made headlines with separate speeches before the annual meeting of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The contrasting approaches of the two illustrate principled differences in contemporary politics, approaches that stretch back to the American Founding.
This approach of blaming others, inciting fear, and promoting salvific government programs attempts to seduce black voters into accepting their misery and a permanent isolation from democratic politics.
Essentially, these are opposing solutions to the problems plaguing the African-American community. Shall we advocate for freedom and opportunity or inflame factionalism?
To mollify the problem of faction-especially the faction between the rich and poor-Madison urged that modern, free, democratic republics should base themselves on the protection of individual rights. With this shift, the United States would change the terms of the political debate. Instead pitting the rich against the poor, government would protect rights and allow people to pursue happiness and acquire wealth. The founders never defended existing wealth or class structures but the means to improving one's condition: the right to acquire property, the right to conscience, to religion, to opinions of all sorts.
Madison showed how freedom could foster a prosperous, thriving, and dynamic society. America would offer to the world a horizontal expansion of opportunities based on individual rights, in place of the vertical clash of rich and poor based on class.
Certainly, if any group in American history has been the victim of a majority faction, it has been African-Americans, whether in slavery or in freedom. The answer to this injustice is not more factionalization, as Biden's NAACP remarks call for, but more freedom. The left's rhetoric would drive us back into the rich-poor confrontation that America was established to negate.

Among the numerous advantages promised by a well-constructed Union, none deserves to be more accurately developed than its tendency to break and control the violence of faction.
Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institute -- a think tank -- whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
The welfare reform law was very successful. In the four decades prior to welfare reform, the welfare caseload never experienced a significant decline. But, in the four years after welfare reform, the caseload dropped by nearly half. Employment surged and child poverty among affected groups plummeted. The driving force behind these improvements was the rigorous new federal work requirements contained in the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) law.
Rector and The Heritage Foundation championed the cause of welfare reform in the 1990s. The legislation signed into law by President Clinton drew heavily from his work. The basic idea of the welfare reform is that "able-bodied adults should be required to work or prepare for work as a condition of receiving welfare aid."
Dignity is the end result of work. When President Obama made efforts to alter welfare legislation last week so that recipients are not required to work, he effectively denied them of a sense of dignity. The Heritage Foundation will continue to highlight this issue in the weeks ahead and will work to restore dignity and honesty to welfare programs.
Thirty-four Senators have signed a letter pledging to oppose the costly United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which would erode American sovereignty. This effectively ends the treaty's chances for ratification in 2012, since under the Constitution, treaties must be approved by two thirds of the Senate.
"The American people have responded to the educational efforts of Heritage and other institutions concerned about America's interests in the world and have made clear that the U.S. Senate should not approve LOST," Heritage Foundation senior vice president David Addington writes
The Heritage Foundation's work to provide a principled, conservative alternative to Obamacare won some praise earlier this month from New York Times columnist David Brooks. Brooks singles out the work of Heritage experts Bob Moffit and James Capretta, who co-authored an article earlier this year called "How to Replace Obamacare." Brooks praises their work: "Their plan is flexible, decentralized and compelling."

The Heritage Foundation broke the story about President Obama's changes to the welfare law, and the media is taking note. Heritage expert Jennifer Marshall was interviewed on Fox News explainging, "The Obama administration is gutting welfare reform by claiming the authority to be able to waive work requirements...Work requirements, of course, were the heart of the success of welfare reform passed in 1996." Senate hearings today will address HSBC's lack of control over suspicious funds passing through the bank. HSBC is expected to apologize to the U.S. Senate today for channeling illicit funds from countries such as Mexico and Syria and thereby assisting "drug kingpins and rogue nations."

For months, conservatives across the country have been calling and emailing their Senators in an effort to push them to oppose this UN treaty. Since then, a steady stream of Senators have come out in opposition to the dangerously-flawed treaty.
Thanks to the dedication of conservatives like you, thousands of phone calls went into offices of the Senators who had not yet signed onto the letter. And thanks to those calls, the final six Senators needed to stop the treaty indicated their opposition.
President Obama and Senator John Kerry tried to hand over America's sovereignty, but because of the hard work of grassroots conservatives like you, our nation and economic future are more secure.

A United Nations threat to U.S. sovereignty has been halted. The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), a pet project of Senator John Kerry (D-MA), ran aground yesterday when opposition reached critical mass.
A total of 34 Senators, led by Jim DeMint (R-SC) and James Inhofe (R-OK), have now expressed opposition-enough to kill the treaty if it comes up for a vote.
As Heritage Action for America CEO Michael Needham said:
America had little to gain through accession to the Law of the Sea Treaty-but much to lose. Rather than affirming existing practices, it would have instituted a radically new, international legal regime. The demise of the Law of the Sea Treaty not only represents a victory for American sovereignty, but also the American people.
One of the most vocal and effective spokesmen against LOST has been Heritage Foundation expert Steven Groves. He testified in June before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Senator Kerry.
Groves has researched extensively and successfully argued that:
Signing on to LOST would force the U.S. to hand over royalties from oil and gas development in the extended continental shelf to developing countries and even state sponsors of terrorism.
LOST would expose the U.S. to international environmental lawsuits that would harm its environmental, economic, and military interests-including suits based on alleged U.S. contributions to global climate change.
Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and John Cornyn (R-TX) warned that LOST would "sink the economy," saying that "LOST contains numerous provisions that hurt the U.S. economy at a time when we need more jobs-not fewer."
Yesterday, Groves said the treaty was dead for the time being, but that opponents should remain vigilant:
By getting to 34 Senators in opposition, we have won a big battle. But Senator Kerry is unlikely to give up very easily, and the war won't be over until it's over.
Indeed, Kerry is already planning a counteroffensive for after the election, when his spokeswoman said Senators will be "away from the politics of the moment."
The politics of LOST are anything but momentary-President Ronald Reagan declined to sign the treaty in 1982, and we are still fighting this creeping United Nations bureaucracy today. Reagan recognized that the best way to secure American freedom on the seas was a strong U.S. Navy, which will remain true if and when the Senate considers LOST again.
A new report projects the U.S. could lose 2 million jobs if scheduled budget cuts kick in under "sequestration" on January 2, reports the Associated Press.

In an interview with Jewish Life Television (JLTV), Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz failed to provide a single reason for Jewish voters to support President Barack Obama other than abortion, which she cast as somehow intrinsic to the values of the Jewish community. Later, in a separate response, she tried to defend Obama's abysmal record on Israel. But she did not--and indeed, could not--cite Israel as a reason Jews should support Obama.
Chuck Schumer is the last person in the United States Senate who you would expect to denounce the first amendment, especially considering the length his speeches usually get to. However, that's exactly what Mr. Schumer did today, taking to the Senate floor to support the draconian campaign finance law known as the DISCLOSE Act with a speech that included the following very odd statement:
