Glenn Beck

White House closing border patrol stations in four states

Glenn took some time this morning to talk about disturbing news from the U.S./Mexico border: the White House plans to shut down several Border Patrol stations in four different states. With violence on the border on the rise, Glenn saw this as a huge mistake.

Fox News reported:

The Obama administration is moving to shut down nine Border Patrol stations across four states, triggering a backlash from local law enforcement, members of Congress and Border Patrol agents themselves.

Critics of the move warn the closures will undercut efforts to intercept drug and human traffickers in well-traveled corridors north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, the coverage areas still see plenty of illegal immigrant activity - one soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is outside Los Angeles.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it's closing the stations in order to reassign agents to high-priority areas closer to the border.

In response to the news, Glenn pulled out his new book Cowards which has a whole section dedicated to the violence on the border.

Activate: How to turn the 2012 election from a close call to a mandate

Last night, Glenn focused on the importance of commitment. He was the first to admit, a lot of last night's show was something you had heard before - but it's important to start at the beginning and to make sure you know what you believe before you get put into action. And tonight, Glenn revealed ways for you to really get moving!

Tonight, the focus of the show was "Activate" - and it was all about the election and how you can make sure that one way or another - 2012 is a year for a mandate for or against the progressives. And if you think it doesn't matter just take a look at what is happening right now in Wisconsin. Progressives and unions are doing everything they can to make sure that Walker loses. It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.

Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.

It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents.
The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.

We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization

Losing Our SonsCharles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.

The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

A Reader

Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.

Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

We're going to Washington, D.C. to stand with Israel

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

The Heritage Foundation The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Staggering Health Insurance Premiums Right Around the Corner, Predicts Premera Vice President

Don't Expect Premiums to go Down With Health Care Reform - Some Customers Might See Increases of 50 to 70 Percent

By Erik Smith | Washington State Wire

Jeff Roe, senior vice president for employer and individual markets at Premera Blue Cross, and CEO of LifeWise Health Plan of Washington.
Jeff Roe, senior vice president for employer and individual markets at Premera Blue Cross, and CEO of LifeWise Health Plan of Washington.

OLYMPIA, July 12.-If you think the cost of health insurance is going to go down under health care reform, think again, says the CEO of Washington state's largest individual-insurance health plan. Many purchasers of individual insurance plans may see premiums rise 50 to 70 percent.

It was a statement Tuesday that hushed the room at a health care policy conference sponsored by the Washington Policy Center at the Doubletree Inn at Seatac. The policies that drive those numbers are no secret. They are embedded in the Affordable Care Act, which has been the law of the land since 2010. But with the Supreme Court's decision last month to uphold the law it has become clear that health care reform is coming. Jeff Roe's statement might be taken as a word of warning. Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Victory Center" on Facebook

-Gabriel Malor

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

GOP Facebook

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For July 13, 2012

1. Meet Bainers, the New Birthers

First, let's dispense with the bull shiitake mushrooms. Condi Rice is not the veep pick. She served President Bush for 8 years, has never been elected, and is pro-abortion. It's not happening. Likewise, much of the fawning the left does over Rice has more to do with her carefully portrayed image as a spoiller to Rumsfeld and Cheney than to her actual, though admittedly impressive, background.

I can't be the only one to have gotten pretty strong denials from Team Romney about this. A friend of mine speculates that it was a trial balloon so when a less than stellar pick emerges everyone can say, "Well, at least it was not Condi."

Now, on to more important matters.

The geniuses at Team Obama are showing their complete ignorance of private enterprise, the law, and the one well vetted part of Mitt Romney's career - his tenure at Bain Capital.

2. The Divide Between the Black Community and Black "Leaders" Illustrated Yet Again

It has often been observed that the difference between the beliefs of the elites and the "rank and file" in a given group are different from one another. The Republican rank and file, for example, are more conservative that the elites. The same could be said for many union members when compared to the leadership.

It has also been remarked by many people, among them Juan Williams*, that the Black community has been dominated by a select number of leaders whose public statements often find themselves at odds with the beliefs of many African Americans.

3. Secret Democratic Political Research Files for Twelve 2012 Match-Ups Found via Google

It could be one of the biggest political intelligence coups of the 2012 battle to control Congress. Media Trackers, a conservative investigative watchdog group, discovered nearly three-dozen Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee opposition research notebooks - extensive secretive manuals outlining anything that could be used against a political opponent. Several news outlets have reported that some of the files have been quietly published on the DCCC's website to facilitate their use by independent expenditure groups. On Thursday, however, Media Trackers published a dozen opposition research books that Democrats have so far managed to keep secret.

The twelve unpublished manuals range in size from a few dozen pages to hundreds of pages, depending on the personal, business and civic record of the Republican target. Incumbent members of Congress, like Florida's Allen West and California's Dan Lungren, have long files, whereas the individual Republican candidates in North Carolina's 7th Congressional District share a single book.

4. New Poll Has Ted Cruz Up. Conservatives Need to Pony Up Fast

A brand new poll has Ted Cruz ahead of David Dewhurst. The poll was conducted by Fred Wenzel. He also got the Indiana and Nebraska primaries right.

Here's the problem. The primary is three weeks away. Dewhurst has millions of dollars in advantage over Cruz. Conservatives need to pony up.

5. Diane Black vs. Lou Ann Zelenik in Tennessee 6

A little birdie tells me that the Republicans in Washington see Diane Black in trouble and Diane Black's own internal polling shows the same thing up in TN-06.

This is terrific, terrific news. She's a terrible congress critter.

Her primary opponent is Lou Ann Zelenik and would be a far, far better member of Congress.

Last night we met with a few wonderful supporters of Israel in an informal gathering, and a subject we do not speak about often happened to be discussed briefly....Our children and our grandchildren go off to College, and we pay a small annual FORTUNE for their education to the particular University  or College, and  frequently they are exposed and educated in this educational environment by the most virulent anti - Israel  biased faculty members during their studies....and then we all wonder how they have such negative and ill informed views about the Jewish State upon completion of their studies....so much so that sometimes we cannot speak about the subject with them....and WE ACTUALLY PAID THAT SMALL FORTUNE (100,000 Dollars and More +) FOR THAT TO HAPPEN......For them to come away with such false impressions and opinions......which can be so destructive to the stability of our beloved State of Israel and to the entire Jewish Community.

The four minute video I just received below is a solicitation....but ignore that intent and just watch what CUFI is doing on some 75 College campuses with substantial  and active Chapters and 250+ campuses with satellite groups................ We are proud that ZOA  has regional college campus coordinators who are working diligently to involve and educate students on campuses. CUFI, with approx. One Million members  in the U.S. contributing to this cause, is really doing wonders..................We will, this coming Tuesday evening......dance Horas and sing Hebrew songs with 500+ College students at the CUFI Conference in Washington, D.C. and it is a joy to see and experience this group of youngsters amongst 5,000 attendees at the Conference..................Their knowledge of Hebrew and History of Israel and the Jews etc. dwarfs that of probably 95% of the Jewish students on Campus....and WE must address this fact in the coming years in order to assure the continuity of our communities.           We, at ZOA locally, are diligently attempting to gather the Young Professional and Emerging Zionists in our midst, and look forward to their attendance at our annual Gala  Dinner and Event on September 6th, and their joining our Young Professional group in the coming year.

As a friend of CUFI, we encourage you to take four minutes to watch a video about the battle for Israel on America's college campuses. What you are about to see may shock you, but it's a familiar sight for students across the country.

From events like "Israel Apartheid Week" and guerrilla theater displays such as mock "Apartheid Walls" to extreme anti-Israel bias in the classroom, American college students are constantly bombarded with anti-Israel propaganda.

As a result, while 71% of all Americans say they are pro-Israel, only 32% of American college students express the same support.

Abraham Lincoln once said that the philosophy of the classroom today will be the philosophy of the government tomorrow. Right now, America's future support for Israel is hanging in the balance. Our window of opportunity is closing.

That's why CUFI on Campus is so crucial RIGHT NOW. It is essential that we equip young Christian leaders with the knowledge and ability to stand up for the truth and present a compelling case for American and Christian support for the Jewish state.

Please help CUFI on Campus bring the truth about Israel to America's universities. At this critical time we need to be doing more- not less- to give pro-Israel students the tools they need to  stand up for Israel. Please help us help them!

Israel: A Peacetime War or a Wartime Peace

In the library's history section all the shelves are crowded together. In the Middle East, opposing polemics are wedged up against each other. Alan Dershowitz rubs shoulders with Tony Judt who leans onto George Gilder who balances out Norman Finkelstein who flakes bits of paper on Benjamin Netanyahu. Though located in the history section, most of these books are not history. They are long opinion pieces, arguments for and against the Jewish State.

On the left there are vituperative diatribes and on the right there are earnest defenses. The Holocaust Industry contends with The Case for Israel, The Jewish Lobby with Start Up Nation. Every few months brings new combatants to the shelves. Shlomo Sand is swapped out with Peter Beinart who is swapped out with Noam Chomsky like a baseball team that is forever calling the same players off the bench to make the same plays.

Next year there will be another four books denouncing Israel for its settlements and its trickery in making the terrorists look like they don't want peace by negotiating with them for twenty years. And next to them another four books asserting that Israel wants peace and has the right to self-defense.

The four-hundred thousand word argument can be summed up as, "Israel is bad and those who live there are bad people" and "No, they aren't."

The first argument is easier to make then the second, because all countries and people have their flaws, but the second argument has gotten easier to make once the first argument switched off to, "Israel is the worst country that ever existed (with the possible exception of South Africa) and those who live there are the worst people that ever existed."

When the torchbearers of the Anti-Israel argument are the likes of Norman Finkelstein and Tony Judt, then anyone who appears less filled with violent hatred suddenly seems moderate by comparison. It allows opponents of Israel like Peter Beinart to rebrand themselves as Liberal Zionists because at least they aren't claiming that the Prime Minister of Israel ritually eats four babies for breakfast every morning.

Few of the books are concerned with the reality of Israel. They are concerned with it as an ideal. The left tears apart the ideal. The right defends the ideal. There is a growing body of books by Jewish leftists who visit Israel, stop by a supermarket outside their hotel, visit one or two sites, cringe at the guns, take in a nightspot, visit the Western Wall, visit the Separation Wall, and transmit the whole thing into a miniature memoir expressing their disappointment with the experience.

"Post-Nazi" German Anti-Semitism

A writer's view of today's Germany

William E. Grim is a writer who lives in Germany and is a native of Columbus, Ohio.

I'm not Jewish. No one in my family died in the Holocaust. For me, Anti-Semitism has always been one of those phenomena that doesn't really register on my radar, like tribal genocide in Rwanda, a horrible thing that happens to someone else.

But I live in a small town outside of Munich on a street that until May of

1945 was named Adolf Hitler Strasse. I work in Munich, a pleasant metropolitan city of a little over a million inhabitants whose Bavarian charm tends to obscure the fact that this city was the birthplace and Capital of the Nazi movement.

Every day when I go to work I pass by the sites of apartments Hitler lived in, extant buildings in which decisions were made to murder millions of innocent people, and plazas in which book burnings took place, SS troops paraded and people were executed. The proximity to evil has a way of concentrating one's attention, of putting a physical reality to the textbook narratives of the horrors perpetrated by the Germans.

Then the little things start to happen that over a period of time add up to something very sinister. I'm on a bus and a high school boy passes around Grandpa's red leather-bound copy of Mein Kampf to his friends who respond by saying "coooool!" He then takes out a VCR tape (produced in Switzerland) of The Great Speeches of Joseph Goebbels."

A few weeks later I'm at a business meeting with four young highly educated Germans who are polite, charming and soft-spoken to say the least. When the Subject matter changes to a business deal with a man in New York named Rubinstein, their nostrils flair, their demeanor attain a threatening mien and one of them actually says, and I'm quoting verbatim here: "The problem With America is that the Jews have all the money."

They start laughing and another one says, "Yeah, all the Jews care about is money."

I found that this type of anti-Semitic reference in my professional dealings with Germans soon became a leitmotif (to borrow a term made famous by

Richard Wagner, another notorious German anti-Semite). In my private meetings with Germans it often happens that they will loosen up after a while

and reveal personal opinions and political leanings that were thought to have ceased to exist in a Berlin bunker on April 30, 1945.  Maybe it's because I have blond hair and my last name is of German origin that the Germans feel that I am, or could potentially be, "one of them."

It shows how much they don't understand what it means to be an American.

Whatever the reason, the conversations generally have one or more of these

components:

(1) it was unfortunate that America and Germany fought each other in World War II because the real enemy was Russia.

(2) Yes, the Nazis were excessive, but terrible things happen during wars, and anyway, the scope of the Holocaust has been greatly exaggerated by the American media, which is dominated by Jews.

(3) CNN is controlled by American Jews and is anti-Palestinian. (Yes, I know it sounds incredible, but even among the most highly intelligent Germans,

even those with a near-native fluency in English, there is the widespread belief that the news network founded by Fidel Castro's friend Ted Turner, who was married to Hanoi Jane Fonda, is a hotbed of pro-Israeli Propaganda.)

(4) Almost all Germans were opposed to the Third Reich and nobody in Germany knew anything about the murder of the Jews, but the Jews themselves were really responsible for the Holocaust.

(5) Ariel Sharon was worse than Hitler and the Israelis are Nazis.

America supports Israel only because Jews control the American government and media.

For the first time in my life, then, I became conscious of anti-Semitism.

Sure, anti-Semitism exists elsewhere in the world, but nowhere have the consequences been as devastating as in Germany. Looking at it as objectively as possible, 2002 was a banner year for anti-Semitism in Germany . Synagogues were firebombed, Jewish cemeteries desecrated, the No. 1 best-selling novel, Martin Walser's Death of a Critic, was a thinly-veiled Roman a clef containing a vicious anti-Semitic attack on Germany's best-known literary critic, Marcel Reich-Ranicki (who was a survivor of both The Warsaw ghetto and Auschwitz ); the Free Democrat Party unofficially adopted anti-Semitism as a campaign tactic to attract Germany 's sizeable Muslim minority; and German revisionist historians began to define German Perpetration of World War II and the Holocaust not as crimes against Humanity, but as early battles (with regrettable but understandable

excesses) in the Cold War against communism.

The situation is so bad that German Jews are advised not to wear anything in public that would identify them as Jewish because their safety cannot be guaranteed.

How can this be? Isn't this the "New Germany" that's gone 60 years without a Holocaust or even a pogrom, where truth, justice and the German way prevail amidst economic wealth, a high standard of living that is the envy of their European neighbors, and a constitution guaranteeing freedom for everyone regardless of race, creed or national origin?

What's changed? The answer is: absolutely nothing. My thesis is quite simple While Germany no longer has the military power to enforce the racist ideology of the Nazis and while all extreme manifestations of Nazism are officially outlawed, the internal conditions -- that is, the attitudes, world view and cultural assumptions - that led to the rise of Nazism in Germany are still present because they constitute the basic components of German identity.

Nazism was not an aberration; it was the distillation of the German psyche into its essential elements. External Nazism may have been utterly defeated in May of 1945; internal Nazism, however, remains, and will always remain, a potential threat as long as there exists a political and/or cultural entity known as Germany.

Now hold on a second, I hear many people saying. You can't possibly claim that Germans are as anti-Semitic today as they were during the years1933-1945.

It is true that Germany today is much different than during the Third Reich.

What is different is that due to its total defeat by the allies Germany today is a client state of America and must do its bidding. That means repression of overt anti-Semitism. It's bad for business.

The other thing that has changed is that, even though Hitler lost World War II, he was phenomenally successful in carrying out his ideological agenda.

Germany , indeed virtually all of Europe , is essentially Judenfrei (free of

Jews) today due to the efficiency and zeal of the Germans as they perpetrated the Holocaust during the Third Reich. In fact, a very convincing case can be made that Nazism is one of the most successful political programs of all time. It accomplished more of its goals in a shorter amount of time than any other comparable political movement and permanently changed the face and political structure of several continents.

Germany is wealthy, stable, relentlessly bourgeois, and for all intents and purposes, free of Jews Yes, there is a tiny minority of Jews, mostly centered in Berlin , and yes, there have been a number of Jews from the former Soviet Union who have emigrated to Germany , but most of the immigrants from Russia are not practicing Jews and do little if anything to promote a unique Jewish-German identity.

The result of all this is that Germans today are able to reap the benefits of Hitler's anti-Semitic policies while paying lip service to the "need to remember." Young Fritz doesn't have to be overtly anti-Semitic today because his

grandfather' s generation did such a bang-up job of the Holocaust.

There just aren't that many Jews left to hate any more, and besides, the Germans have their old buddies, the Arabs, to do their hating for them.

You might call the overwhelming German support for the Palestinians to be a form of anti-Semitism- by-proxy. The German government has made cash payments to the State of Israel , as well as to individual Jews, to settle claims of murder, torture, false imprisonment, slave labor and genocide.

Talk to most Germans and you'll soon discover that they think that the score has been settled between Germany and the Jews, that somehow the return of just a portion of what the Germans stole from the Jews is fair recompense for the deliberate murder of millions of people.

If you think the Germans are truly sorry for what they did to the Jews, think again. There's never been an official "tut mir leid" offered by the Germans to the victims of the Holocaust and their descendants because that would admit culpability. Germany has paid off all claims against it without acknowledging responsibility in the same way that the Ford Motor Company engages in recalls of automobiles. It's all done to avoid liability.

I have previously mentioned that Germans overwhelmingly support the Palestinians as opposed to the Israelis, and that this overwhelming support represents a form of anti-Semitism- by-proxy. Germans may claim to be supporting the Palestinians because they think they are an "oppressed people " but let's be honest - they are supporting the Palestinians and their Arab handlers because the Palestinians and Arabs share the same ideals as the Nazis.

There's a long-standing history of German co-operation with the Arabs. In

1942 Hitler personally assured the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem that as soon as German forces

conquered Great Britain , the Jews in Palestine (which was then under control of the British Mandate) would be exterminated.

We should also keep in mind that the Arab terrorists who perpetrated the

9/11 atrocities did their planning in Germany . There are several reasons for this. The first is the well-known bungling and de-centralized chaos of the German federal bureaucracy where literally the "linke" hand doesn't know what the "rechte" hand is doing.

The second is that Arab terrorists can count on a substantial number of Germans who share their anti-American and anti-Semitic views. The former members of the SS and Hitler's praetorian guards, along with their neo-Nazi supporters, who gather weekly in Munich beer halls, made Osama bin Laden an "honorary Aryan" after the 9/11 attack.

Mein Kampf is also a best seller in the Arab world, especially in Saudi Arabia, America 's putative "friend." Indeed, there is very little difference between the anti-Semitic rantings of Hitler and those of the so-called "spiritual leaders" of al-Qaeda, Hamas, and Fatah. The Arabs also owe Hitler and the Germans big time. Hitler killed off the Jews, and Konrad Adenauer and his "democratic" descendants replaced them with the Turks.

Yes, the Turks aren't Arabs, but they are Muslim, and although Turkey is a member of NATO and has relations with Israel , many Turks identify and support their radical Arab co-religionists. Turkey remains as fragile a democracy as Weimar Germany during the 1920s. It wouldn't take much for Turkey to fall into the dark side of Muslim extremism..

The end result of Muslim immigration into Germany has been twofold:

(1) It allows the Germans to feign liberalism and being open to freedom and diversity; and (2) By replacing the Jews they murdered with Muslims, who for the most part are as

viciously anti-Semitic as were the Nazis, the Germans have cynically assured that those few Jews who remain in Germany will be unable to reassert political power even in a minority role.

A final point I would like to make concerning the reasons for the a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Germany is one that many will find at odds with the prima-facie evidence, or even appear to stretch the boundaries of common sense. Yet, I ask you to consider carefully my line of reasoning.

In many respects Germany got away with the Holocaust without paying much of a price. Yes, many Germans died as a result of German perpetration of World War II and the Holocaust, and yes, there was much physical destruction in the country, but the situation is like the little boy who steals a cookie from the tray when it is cooling on the kitchen table.  For his efforts he may have gotten his hand slapped by his mother, but the stolen cookie remains eaten nonetheless.

After having committed the worst crimes in the history of humankind, the Germans were allowed to regain their sovereignty after only ten years; their infrastructure was completely rebuilt thanks to the generosity of the American people; and relatively few Germans were brought to trial for their monstrous crimes. Even those who were tried and convicted received relatively short sentences or had those reduced or commuted in general amnesties.

For example, some members of the Einsatz kommandos, those Germans who, before the construction of the death camps, hunted and murdered Jews by the hundreds of thousands, received sentences of as little as five years imprisonment. If there were true justice in the world, Germany would no longer exist as a separate country, but would have long ago had its territory divided up and dispersed among the Allies.

It was an unfortunate historical coincidence that the Cold War began just as Germany was at last being brought to task for its many crimes and atrocities extending back to the First World War. The new threat of the Soviet Union took precedence over a just settling of accounts with Germany . The tragic result is that many of the countries raped and despoiled by Germany, such as the Czech Republic and Poland , are just now coming out of decades of economic decline, while Germany - fat, sassy, arrogant, self-satisfied, and essentially Judenfrei - has enjoyed four decades of undeserved economic prosperity.

We can't turn back the clock to redress all of the historical wrongs that have been committed by the Germans, but there are a number of things that can be done to assure that Germany can never again be in a position to threaten the rest of the civilized world.

First and foremost is the realization that, while not all Germans are anti-Semitic, there is an anti-Semitic tendency within German culture that extends back to the time of Martin Luther. Germans are instinctively anti-Semitic in the same way that Americans are instinctively freedom loving. Anti-Semitism has been and unfortunately remains the default ideology of the German people.

All things being equal, Germans will instinctively support the enemies of the State of Israel . Therefore, America will need to monitor closely and be ready and politically willing to intervene at a moment's notice in German affairs when it appears that Germany is back-sliding into anti-Semitism.

Additionally, it should be a goal of American foreign policy to oppose and to accelerate the dismemberment of the European Union. We must not allow German domination of the EU to accomplish through parliamentary maneuvering and brokered deals what Hitler and the Germans were unable to accomplish during the Third Reich.

Given Germany 's resurgent anti-Semitism (and that of France as well), a strong, German-dominated EU that tolerates and even benignly encourages anti-Semitism, and is diplomatically allied with the Arab world, is potentially the greatest threat to Judaism since Nazi Germany and a major threat to the United States as well.

The enemies of Israel are the enemies of the United States . Let all Jews and Americans stand united as we proclaim never again to both the Holocaust and 9/11.

*************************************************************************

The following appears to be a commentary on this article written by a Jewish

man:

* This is the very first post-Holocaust picture of Germany that I have ever seen published that depicted the post-Holocaust country of the Nazis with absolute accuracy in every detail. Over the

years I have often written about the reunification of the two Germanys and described it as one of the greatest mistakes ever made in history, and wrote that instead naziland should have been divided into the four historical parts that is its nature, never to rise to brutalize its neighbors or the world again! A crucial and horrible error!

It took only a few minutes during my first visit back to the land of my birth for me to realize that the place was clearly no different than when my Parents and I had the good fortune to be among the very last Jews to escape, Literally "minutes before midnight", when the gates of that man-made hell slammed shut with a resounding clang for the final time, dooming those of my People left behind, including over 50 of my immediate family. I recall the words of my beloved grandfather as we came to Breslau to say our final farewell, knowing that there was no likelihood of ever seeing each other

again. He ran alongside the slowly rolling departing train we were on, knowing he was bidding a final farewell to his only son and his family.

Even then he optimistically maintained that "no harm will come to us.

After all, I served my country and my Kaiser as an officer, and have always been a good citizen."

I do not know Mr. Grim, but I salute him for his clear view and thank him for writing this piece, which, had it been written by a Jew, would never be believed nor given its proper credence.

Please do forward this article to your lists and see that it gets the widest possible circulation.

Obama Fails to See "Serious Impact" of Hugo Chavez

ChavezPresident Obama has been stumbling on the economy, and this week he added more proof of his weakness on foreign policy. He told a popular Miami TV station that Venezuela's aggressive President Hugo Chavez "has not had a serious national security impact on us."

Chavez certainly doesn't reciprocate Obama's gentle feelings-in 2009, Chávez proclaimed the U.S. to be the "greatest terrorist nation."

In fact, Chavez's strident anti-Americanism directly challenges the security of the United States, and Venezuela should be placed on the State Department's list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Obama's position hasn't changed in recent years. In 2007, his presidential rival Hillary Clinton called his lack of caution about meeting with Chavez "irresponsible and, frankly, naïve."

Heritage's Ray Walser said in 2010:
Far from being merely a populist showman and bully, Hugo Chávez is a reckless leader who collaborates with Colombian narcoterrorists and Islamist terrorists, pals around with brutal Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a virulent anti-Semite, and is guided by a relentless anti-Americanism in everything he does. President Obama does not see Venezuela as a threat to U.S. national security. This view is not optimistic-it is dangerous.

Senate Dems Kill Obama's Tax Plan

by Ben Shapiro

In a shocking repudiation of President Obama's "soak the rich" economic plans, Senate Democrats today blocked a vote on President Obama's proposal to raise taxes on those earning more than $250,000 per year. Senate Republicans had proposed an immediate vote on the measure. In fact, they proposed two votes: one to extend the Bush tax cuts in their totality, the other to raise taxes as per Obama's plan. "My recommendation is we give the president what he asked for," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The strategy for McConnell and Republicans is simple: they want to show Americans that even Democrats recognize that the Bush tax cuts ought to be extended for all Americans. And Democrats want to avoid that vote, so they can continue posturing and conducting class warfare.

July 12, 2012     ACT! for America letter entered in Congressional Record     In April we delivered a letter to chairmen of House and Senate committees which have oversight of the FBI.

The letter urged Congress to oppose FBI revisions of its counterterrorism training materials. These revisions were initiated in response to objections raised by Muslim Brotherhood-connected organizations like ISNA (Islamic Society of North America).

Over 21,000 of you added your name to this letter, and it was delivered to the congressional chairmen. Several members of the pertinent committees questioned FBI director Mueller regarding these revisions.

This past Tuesday, Rep. Louie Gohmert, who spoke at our recent National Conference & Legislative Briefing, entered this open letter into the Congressional Record.

It's Not the Clinton Economy Anymore

Bringing back 1990s tax rates won't bring back that decade's economic boom.

It's Not the Clinton Economy AnymoreLike Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we're not in Kansas anymore. That is, if Kansas is defined as the 1990s Internet boom. But Barack Obama has constructed an odd time machine to take us back: returning to the Seinfeld decade's top two income tax rates in exchange for keeping the rest of the Bush tax cuts.

President Obama called on Congress to pass a one-year extension of those tax cuts, with the exception of letting the 35 percent marginal rate rise to 39.6 percent and the 33 percent rate jump to 36 percent. That will deliver a tax increase on individuals making more than $200,000 and families earning over $250,000 while ostensibly protecting everyone else from tax hikes.

The planted axiom is that the good times rolled under those tax rates during the '90s, so returning to them shouldn't hurt economic growth. After all, Obama reminds us, we simply revert back to what "we were paying under Bill Clinton."

Life, Religious Liberty at Heart of Obamacare Repeal Bill
by Dominique Ludvigson, Research Fellow at the DeVos Center of Heritage

Legislation to repeal Obamacare under consideration in the House yesterday makes clear in two significant findings the massive health care law's threat to religious liberty, conscience rights, and the protection of human life. To quote from the bill itself:

(Section 7) While President Barack Obama promised that nothing in the law would fund elective abortion, the law expands the role of the Federal Government in funding and facilitating abortion and plans that cover abortion.

The law appropriates billions of dollars in new funding without explicitly prohibiting the use of these funds for abortion, and it provides Federal subsidies for health plans covering elective abortions. Moreover, the law effectively forces millions of individuals to personally pay a separate abortion premium in violation of their sincerely held religious, ethical, or moral beliefs.

(Section 8) The law creates a new nationwide requirement for health plans to cover "essential health benefits" and "preventive services", but does not allow stakeholders to opt out of covering items or services to which they have a religious or moral objection, in violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (Public Law 103-141).

By creating new barriers to health insurance and causing the loss of existing insurance arrangements, these inflexible mandates jeopardize the ability of institutions and individuals to exercise their rights of conscience and their ability to freely participate in the health insurance and health care marketplace.

The need to repeal Obamacare to address these and many other concerns for the future of Americans' liberty remains in the wake of the Supreme Court's sharply divided decision upholding Obamacare.

As a result, Obamacare's multiple threats to religious liberty, rights of conscience, and the protection of human life remain.

Of particular concern is the contraception mandate, which goes into effect on August 1 and is the subject of some 23 lawsuits around the country. It compels religious and other employers to cover-at no charge to the insured-abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, and sterilization, regardless of an employer's moral or religious objection.

The mandate, which tramples on the free exercise of religion and conscience rights of employers and individuals, is just the first chilling example of how Americans' individual liberties will be adversely affected as the statute is implemented.

It raises significant questions about what more Obamacare will require on other matters of deeply personal religious and moral significance, such as prenatal care, end-of-life issues, and parental authority for minors' health decisions.

To protect religious liberty specifically and individual freedom generally, Obamacare must be repealed. Centralized health care policy that defines what individuals must buy, what employers must cover, and what insurers must offer puts the moral compass in the hands of bureaucrats and will continue to trample on conscience as implementation continues.

Fix Health Care Policy - A weekly Update from the Health Care Initiative at The Heritage Foundation

House Repeals Obamacare; What's Next

Now that the House has voted to repeal Obamacare, what happens next with H.R. 6079?

The "Repeal of ObamaCare Act" will go to the Senate for consideration. If Senators take a few simple actions, they can force a debate and recorded vote in the Senate this year. They might even be able to pass it, although unlikely because of the minority party's aversion to hardball politics.

How to get it to the floor: Once the Senate receives the "Repeal of ObamaCare Act" from the House of Representatives, it is expected that a conservative Senator will use the Senate's rules to force a vote. A Senator can use Rule 14 of the Senate's rules to object to a second reading of the bill. This objection would place the House-passed Obamacare repeal bill in a position for debate on a motion to proceed to the bill and a roll-call vote on whether the Senate should consider the measure.

If conservatives fumble the ball and no Senator objects to the second reading, then conservatives will have lost an opportunity for a vote. Failure to object using the Senate's rules sends the bill to the black hole of a Senate Committee controlled by liberals. The repeal of Obamacare legislation would not be heard from again this Congress.

How long it would take: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) or any other member of the Republican caucus can lodge an objection to the second reading of the bill that will start a two-day process to get the legislation on the Senate calendar. Once on the Senate calendar, the legislation can be considered at any point during the duration of this Congress.

Once on the Senate calendar, any Senator can start the debate and trigger a recorded vote. All that Senator would need is to gather up 16 Senate signatures on a cloture petition pursuant to Rule 22 to commence a debate. The Senator then would take his cloture petition and file it with the clerk of the Senate. The filing of "cloture" would commence a debate and vote.

How the left could block it: The only way for liberals to block consideration of the bill would be to table the bill or filibuster it.

Heritage Employment Report: June Jobs Fizzle

The June employment report released this morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows a labor market treading water. Employment and the labor force grew only in line with population growth at 80,000, and unemployment remained at 8.2 percent. In short, another month passed without a significant reduction in the number of unemployed Americans.

Obama's Taxmageddon Tax Increase Would Hurt Job Creation

Pressure is building on President Obama and Congress to stop Taxmageddon, a $494 billion one-year tax increase that is poised to strike the economy on January 1, 2013. After a considerable period of silence, President Obama finally entered the debate about Taxmageddon in a recent speech. Rather than come out in favor of stopping Taxmageddon in its entirety, however, President Obama instead pushed for his long-sought tax increase plan to repeal the Bush tax cuts (the largest portion of Taxmageddon) for "the rich."

Chinese Outward Investment: Acceleration Features the U.S.

Chinese investment could be a global economic force for decades to come. The potential was underlined in the first half of 2012, when investment climbed more strongly than in 2011. The U.S. in particular saw a rebound. Policymakers should welcome this development by making the American review process quicker and more transparent. Washington should also seek better American investment access on a bilateral and multilateral basis, including in China.

Calls to Destroy Egypt's Great Pyramids Begin

Posted by Raymond Ibrahim on Jul 11th, 2012

It's Not the Clinton Economy AnymoreAccording to several reports in the Arabic media, prominent Muslim clerics have begun to call for the demolition of Egypt's Great Pyramids-or, in the words of Saudi Sheikh Ali bin Said al-Rabi'i, those "symbols of paganism," which Egypt's Salafi party has long planned to cover with wax. Most recently, Bahrain's "Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs" and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt's new president, Muhammad Morsi, to "destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what the Sahabi Amr bin al-As could not."

This is a reference to the Muslim Prophet Muhammad's companion, Amr bin al-As and his Arabian tribesmen, who invaded and conquered Egypt circa 641. Under al-As and subsequent Muslim rule, many Egyptian antiquities were destroyed as relics of infidelity. While most Western academics argue otherwise, according to early Muslim writers, the great Library of Alexandria itself-deemed a repository of pagan knowledge contradicting the Koran-was destroyed under bin al-As's reign and in compliance with Caliph Omar's command.

Muslim Brotherhood 'Democracy': Slapping, Stabbing, and Slaying for Sharia

by Raymond Ibrahim  Special to IPT News July 9, 2012

Muslim BrotherhoodPrior to the presidential elections, it was revealed how Egypt's Islamists viewed democratic elections as an obligatory form of "holy war." Then, any number of Islamic clerics, including influential ones, declared that it was mandatory for Muslims to cheat during elections-if so doing would help Islamist candidates win; that the elections were a form of jihad, and those who die are "martyrs" who will attain the highest levels of paradise. Top Islamic institutions and influential clerics, such as Yusuf al-Qaradawi, issued fatwas decreeing that all Muslims were "obligated" to go and vote for those candidates most likely to implement Sharia law, with threats of hellfire for those failing to do so.

The point was simple: democracy, elections, voting, even the individual candidates, were all means to an end-the establishment of Sharia law. Cheat, fight, and kill during elections, as long as doing so enables Sharia; vote only for whoever will enable Sharia; avoid hell by enabling Sharia. (It is precisely for this reason that the very first demand made by Islamic leaders is that President Morsi implement the totality of Sharia law in Egypt. That is, after all, why so many voted for him.)

Obama and "The Brothers" : An Invitation to Disaster

Posted by Michael Widlanski on Jul 12th, 2012

Muslim BrotherhoodPresident Barack Obama, who invited the Muslim Brotherhood to his Cairo speech in 2009, has now invited Brotherhood leader and Egyptian president Muhammad Morsi for talks in the United States.

But as the Muslim Brotherhood comes to power in Egypt, we should all be worried, because the Brotherhood was the group that fathered Al-Qaeda and the Jihad groups that attacked New York in 1993 and again on 9-11.

But President Obama is not worried. He thinks the Brotherhood coming to power is an opportunity-perhaps to achieve even more of a "dialogue," for "engagement," with the Arab-Islamic world.

Water Woes: Your voice must be heard to stop this loony Leftist plan to give UN control of our water

 Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer

Is Obama's federal government getting ready to put a huge red X mark on the Hoover Dam which supplies most of the American West with its life sustaining water? Having this scenario play out is quite plausible as Barack Obama's Executive Order # 13547 in support of the global Law of the Sea Treaty (L.O.S.T.) seeks to take control of our water in any form of precipitation from sky to ocean!  Total water control will give the American president and his global cohorts total control of all U.S. citizens if this initiative is not stopped by still free citizens.  Because the Water World enthusiasts are seeking to protect the earth's water from contamination, they are jiggering U.S. water laws to conform to Obama's Council on Interagency Ocean Policy to make sure no contamination happens.

Heritage Action for America

Plotting Our Obamacare Battle Plan

Yesterday, we won.  The House passed the bill to repeal Obamacare.

Heritage Action for America was successfully able to pressure moderate Congressmen to vote for repeal. All told, five Democrats broke with Nancy Pelosi and joined every Republican in backing repeal.

Our success depended on the hard work of both our team in Washington and also grassroots conservatives like you around the nation.

But while this was an important vote, we have a long road ahead of us before Obamacare is fully repealed.

That's why I'm challenging you to join our team as an Obamacare Game Changer.

Now we have to build on the momentum from yesterday's voteand fight for total repeal. President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were wrong to pass Obamacare. The Supreme Court was wrong to uphold it. The law must not stand.

Starting today, Heritage Action will be guided by our foundational goal as we hold lawmakers accountable to stopping Obamacare:

The Senate must vote immediately to fully repeal Obamacare, despite Harry Reid's obstructionism

This will be a long fight, and it will require your continued support. The fight for America's future not a sprint, but a marathon.

When you join our team and become an Obamacare Game Changer, you will demonstrate your ongoing commitment to making Obamacare history.

Because conservatives in Pennsylvania are such an important part of our fight, I am setting a goal of adding 100 new Obamacare Game Changers to our team by tomorrow, Friday, to sustain our fight in the coming weeks and months.

I am counting on you to join our team as we forge on to fully repeal Obamacare.

We are ramping up to end this freedom-crushing law. What will your part be in the story of Obamacare repeal?

Thank you for everything you do to support conservative principles.

Let's continue the fight,

Michael A. Needham

Heritage Foundation Member Briefing

How the Senate Can Repeal Obamacare

by Katie Nielsen

The House voted yesterday to repeal Obamacare. While it is a move in the right direction, the repeal bill now goes to the liberal-controlled Senate for consideration, where it faces an uphill battle.

Heritage Foundation expert Brian Darling explains one way how conservatives can force a Senate vote on the Repeal of Obamacare Act.

If the bill passes through a number of procedural hurdles, though, the prospects for ultimately repealing Obamacare are stronger. Here's one way it could play out:

If four Democrats defect and sign on to the idea of a full repeal of Obamacare, all of a sudden there are enough votes to pass the bill. If the supporters of H.R. 6079 can get to a simple majority of support, the only way liberals could prevent passage of the bill by a simple majority would be to engage in a filibuster of the bill.

Are you confident in conservative Senators' ability to force a vote in the Senate?

Health care spending is spiraling out of control in part because consumers are becoming "increasingly insulated from the costs of health care," Heritage Foundation experts Kathryn Nix and Alyene Senger argue in a new report. Third-party payment for health care means that many Americans are unaware of the full cost of their care, meaning they make decisions with little regard for cost.

Plans that put consumers in control of their health spending, known as consumer-directed health plans, offer a promising solution to bridging this information gap by enabling consumers to make more cost-conscious decisions about their health care. They provide comprehensive coverage by combining a high-deductible health plan with a tax-preferred health savings account (HSA) or an employer health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). These plans work. In 2006, Indiana introduced plans with health savings accounts as an option for state employees. Enrollment has since increased substantially as a result, while costs have fallen. Read more about consumer-directed health plans.

Do you think that consumer-directed health plans offer a better way to control health costs than does President Obama's plan?

The Heritage Foundation's Heritage Congressional Fellows program is a unique program designed to spread conservative principles to the people most responsible for drafting our nation's laws: congressional staff.

Heritage has developed the Congressional Fellows Program to educate staff and build connections with future leaders. The year-long educational program, offered to junior congressional staffers, aims to give participants a background in America's First Principles, a firm grounding in public policy, and practical job skills to help them advance their careers.

Paul Nelson, a staff assistant to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) who is now taking classes, says he values the program's unique "ability to provide targeted, relevant information to junior staffers on the Hill. There is a lot of material out there and Heritage manages to give us things of great interest to us. That requires a lot of effort, and we appreciate it." Click here to learn more about Heritage's Congressional Fellows Program.

Heritage Work of Note

  • Yesterday, The Heritage Foundation's Ted Bromund spoke at the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty conference.  The Treaty seeks to impose regulations on arms trade, Bromund argued against the treaty, explaining: "It is member states that, by design or negligence, arm terrorists and violate existing embargoes. What is needed is not a new treaty on the arms trade. It is nations that are willing and able to uphold the commitments they have already made." Click here to read Bromund's speech in its entirety.
  • Bipartisan legislation expanding federal grants to stop school bullying is misguided, Heritage Foundation education expert Lindsey Burke writes. The solution to the problem lies with parents and teachers at local schools, not one-size-fits-all Washington programs. But Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Lamar Smith (R-TX) nonetheless think Congress should get involved. "No one believes children should be bullied in school, no matter what the genesis of the bullying," Burke writes. "But to think that somehow Congress could stop playground taunting, middle-school teasing, or insults leveled through social media is illogical."

  • California cities are facing tough decisions about spending cuts in order to avoid bankruptcy. On Tuesday, San Bernadino became the third California city to file for bankruptcy protection. Public protection funding accounts for about 75 percent of some California cities' general fund spending.  Alexander's Essay - July 12, 2012

Retreat Is NOT an Option!

Join our Patriot Ranks and FIGHT!

"There is a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. There is a time to fight, and that time has now come." --Peter Muhlenberg (1776)
2012-07-12-alexander-1

In October of 1941, amid the darkest of days in human history, against seemingly insurmountable odds, Sir Winston Churchill issued this charge: "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never -- in nothing, great or small, large or petty -- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

The Greatest Generation, which lived through those days if they did not perish to sustain Essential Liberty for our generation, were the last Americans to confront evil face-to-face on a global scale. And confront it they did, albeit at immeasurable human cost. We are fortunate that some of the survivors from that generation are among our Patriot Post ranks; they write us daily to voice their grave concerns about the current domestic threat to American Liberty that awaits their grandchildren's children.

Amazingly, though they now are in their eighth and ninth decades of life, these old warriors invariably note that they are ready to take up arms again today in keeping with their hard-won devotion to Liberty! If, given the wisdom of age, they understand the current threat to Liberty and are ready to fight, then there is no excuse for complacency or resignation from anyone in the generations after them.

A Second Term Will Be Terminal: Another Four Years of Obamanomics and Argentina Will Be Crying For Us

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published July 11, 2012 on The American Spectator website.

With a second term for Obama, the world-leading America we have known and hoped to leave to our children will be gone. Last Friday's jobs report confirms that Obama is well on his way to transforming America into a third world country, with declining living standards and perpetual economic stagnation.

Argentina enjoyed the world's fourth highest per capita GDP in 1929, on par with America at the time. But then the nation lost its way in embracing a leftist, union allied government, which took control of the economy and imposed wildly irresponsible taxes, spending, deficits, and debt. After World War II, the hugely popular Juan Peron came to power and institutionalized the madness. It has been all downhill for Argentina ever since. Do you recognize the pattern?

Today, Argentina ranks 53rd in the world in per capita GDP, according to the International Monetary Fund, 57th in the CIA World Factbook, at a level less than one third that of America. But its national debt at 51% of GDP is actually less than that of the United States under the Obama administration, where we are rocketing towards 100% of GDP by the end of this year, and 200% in 25 years, according to CBO.

Difficult Economics Lessons

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published July 11, 2012 on Townhall.com.

One of the more difficult lessons to teach economics neophytes -- and, many times, trained economists -- is that economic theory cannot say anything definitive about subjective statements, such as what's better, good, bad or worse. Let's try a few examples to make the point.

Cabernet sauvignon wine is better than fume blanc. Turkey is better than pork. Matter in the solid state is better than the plasma state. Each of those statements begs the question: Where's the proof? With subjective statements such as those, disagreements can go on forever. It's simply a matter of personal opinion. One person's opinion of what's better or worse is just as good as another's.

Contrast those statements with objective ones, such as: Water is 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen. Scientists cannot split the atom. The distance in degrees from the equator to the North Pole is 90. With positive statements such as those, if there's any disagreement, there are facts to which one can appeal to settle the disagreement. For example, if one person says scientists can split the atom and another says they cannot, a trip to Stanford's linear accelerator to watch atoms being split settles the matter. However, if you say fume blanc is better than cabernet sauvignon and I say cabernet sauvignon is better, our disagreement can go on forever because there are no facts or figures to which we can appeal.

The Future of the "Affordable Care Act"

This piece is by John McClaughry, Vice President of the Ethan Allen Institute, a member of the Carleson Center for Public Policy Policy Board and former senior policy advisor to President Reagan.

The Supreme Court has now issued its startling ruling on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare).

Four liberal justices ardently believe, with President Obama, that the constitutional power to regulate commerce authorizes Congress to require individuals to purchase government-approved health insurance, or suffer a monetary penalty for minding their own business.

Five conservative justices believe that the commerce power cannot be stretched to authorize any such penalty.

Four of these five believe that the entire act - enacted without a severability clause - should be invalidated.

One of these five - Chief Justice Roberts - believes that the government that argued the case for the commerce power expansion that he resoundingly rejected has nonetheless shown that the law passes constitutional muster as an exercise of the taxing power, which the government barely mentioned in its briefs and oral argument.

The Great Dissent Part III: Justices Argue Obamacare Mandate Unconstitutional Because It's Not a Tax--and Why Mitt Romney is Right

This column by ACRU Senior Legal Analyst Ken Klukowski was published July 10, 2012 onBreitbart.com.

Confusion has reigned over whether Obamacare's individual mandate is a tax, because politics has gotten in the way of serious discussion (no surprise there). As Governor Mitt Romney tried discussing the issue like the serious businessman and serious lawyer (Harvard Law School) that he is, political operatives were so busy making an important political point that it looked like they were on different pages.

Then Romney brought order to chaos by plainly stating: Obamacare's Individual Mandate was a mandate with a penalty, not a tax. Although the Constitution allows states to impose mandates (like car-seat mandates for children, seat-belt mandates for adults, and car-insurance mandates for driving) such as Massachusetts, the same Constitution makes it illegal for the federal government to impose an insurance mandate. But when Chief Justice John Roberts saved the Individual Mandate by declaring it a tax, it now becomes a tax.

Thus the Individual Mandate was not a tax. The Massachusetts mandate is still not a tax. But now henceforth Obamacare's Individual Mandate is a tax, thanks to an astounding declaration by the Supreme Court.

The latest Bain-related smear takes hit after hit

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 02:42 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Earlier today, I wrote about the Boston Globe's attempt to breathe life into Team Obama's Bain-related smear of Mitt Romney. Here some additional developments.

First, Bain Capital has issued this statement confirming that Romney left the company in February 1999.

Mitt Romney left Bain Capital in February 1999 to run the Olympics and has had absolutely no involvement with the management or investment activities of the firm or with any of its portfolio companies since the day of his departure. Due to the sudden nature of Mr. Romney's departure, he remained the sole stockholder for a time while formal ownership was being documented and transferred to the group of partners who took over management of the firm in 1999. Accordingly, Mr. Romney was reported in various capacities on SEC filings during this period.

Second, FactCheck.org, which has rejected Team Obama's claims that Romney was involved in making decisions at Bain after February 1999, is not persuaded otherwise by the Boston Globe's story.

We see little new in the Globe piece. So far, nobody has shown that Romney was actually managing Bain - even part-time - during his time at the Olympics, or that he was anything but a passive, absentee owner during that time, as both Romney and Bain have long said.

Third, confirming that there is indeed little new in its piece, the Boston Globe has admitted that it failed to credit to the work of other outlets whose work the Globe used without adknowledgement.

Pieces of this story were reported by other news organizations. . .[O]ur policy is to give credit to other news organizations for their work. In the editing and shortening process, I have learned, passages giving credit were removed.

Why were they removed? Probably to make the Globe's recycled story seem fresh. It isn't.

Fourth, Fortune Magazine has documents that support the fact that Romney stopped his involvement with Bain when he and Bain say he did. For example:

Bain Capital began circulating offering documents for its seventh private equity fund in June 2000. Those documents include several pages specifying fund management. The section begins:

Set forth below is information regarding the background of the senior private equity investment professionals of Bain Capital. Also listed are certain investment professionals responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the Brookside and Sankaty funds, which are affiliated funds of Fund VII.

It then goes on to list 18 managers of the private equity fund. Mitt Romney is not among them. Same goes for an affiliated co-investment fund, whose private placement memorandum is dated September 2000.

Similarly:

[Bain's] first dedicated venture capital effort - whose private placement memorandum is dated January 2001. Romney also isn't listed among its "key investment professionals," or as part of its day-to-day operations or investment committee.

In sum, as Fortune concludes, the contemporaneous Bain documents show that Romney was indeed telling the truth about no longer having operational input at Bain, which, of course, is different from no longer having legal or financial ties to the firm.

The Boston Globe plainly has swung and missed. But count on this: the Globe and Obama's other supporters in the MSM will keep swinging.

Latest Senate poll news

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 12:41 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

There is good news from two Senate fronts today. First, a Rasmussen poll puts Republican Rick Berg nine points ahead (49-40) of his Democratic challenger, Heidi Heitkamp, in North Dakota. I've assumed that Berg would fairly handily win in this Red state. But folks who actually know the state tell me that Heitkamp, an attractive candidate, has a shot. Moreover, a Mason-Dixon poll in early June had Heitkamp leading by one point (47-46). But now, Berg appears to have a solid, though hardly insurmountable, lead.

Meanwhile, in Texas, a PPP poll has Ted Cruz leading David Dewhurst in the Republican runoff election by five points (49-44). This is a huge, and for me unexpected, turnaround. A month and a half ago, Dewhurst ran well ahead of Cruz in the Republican primary. At that time, Dewhurst collected 44.6 percent of the vote compared to 34.2 percent for Cruz.

To further illustrate the magnitude of Cruz's surge, consider that a PPP poll taken on May 22-23 had Dewhurst leading Cruz by 59-34.

Cruz is an exceptionally able man. He is also the more reliably conservative of the two candidates.

The run-off will take place on July 31. If you wish to contribute to Cruz's campaign, you can do so here.

The obsession with Bain continues

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 08:55 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

The Boston Globe is citing SEC filings for the proposition that Mitt Romney remained at Bain Capital beyond 1999, the year he says he left to run the Winter Olympics. According to the Globe, documents filed by Romney and Bain say he remained chief executive and chairman of the firm until at least 2002, creating five new investment partnerships during that time.

The Romney campaign responds that their man gave up control over all investment decisions in 1999 because he would be taking charge of the Winter Olympics. His name remained on SEC filings because he was technically still the owner.

This response seems sensible enough. Moreover, the only relevant question pertaining to Bain-related dates is the date on which Romney stopped making investment decisions. That date is relevant (and I use the word loosely) because Romney is under fire (ridiculously) over investments that Bain made after the date in 1999 when Romney says he ceded control. If it could be demonstrated that Romney made investment decisions after that date, this would become a problem in terms of his veracity and, for those who care about Bain's investment, a problem on the merits.

But, the SEC filings apparently don't show involvement by Romney in Bain-related decisions after the 1999 date.

The Globe's story, then, appears to be a silly "gotcha" of the kind in which the liberal MSM routinely indulges when Republican candidates are concerned. In that respect, it resembles the high school bullying story that the Washington Post ran up the flag pole. By contrast, the liberal MSM continues its longstanding policy of studiously avoiding any meaningful inquiry into the past of Barack Obama, the man who lied to his autobiography.

What does the Globe's story mean in the long run for the campaign? Nothing, I suspect. In times like these, it's difficult to imagine any voter basing his decision on the year in which a candidate severed his connection with a successful, law-abiding business.

UPDATE: FactCheck.org has concluded that Romney's tenure at Bain ended in 1999. In doing so, it reviewed a six-page submission by the Obama campaign. Team Obama's submission included various SEC documents. Here's what FactCheck.org had to say about this documentation:

In summary, the letter states there are "at least 63 filings with that agency after March 1, 1999 that list various Bain entities and describe them as 'wholly owned by W. Mitt Romney.'" That's true, but not relevant.

We have never disputed that Romney remained the owner of Bain while he was running the Olympics committee. The issue always has been, who was running Bain? Nothing in the SEC documents contradicts what Romney has certified as true.

On that point, the Obama campaign cites snippets of a few news clippings to make a case that Romney was still a part-time manager of Bain after he left to run the Olympics. But a close reading shows these news accounts don't contradict Romney either.

For example, the Obama letter quotes from a Boston Herald story ("Romney looks to restore Olympic Pride") that cites a partial quote from Romney saying that he intended to stay on at Bain as a part-timer. Here's the quote in a fuller context.

Boston Herald, Feb. 12, 1999: Romney said he will stay on as a part-timer with Bain, providing input on investment and key personnel decisions. But he will leave running day-to-day operations to Bain's executive committee.

First, the Obama campaign simply ignores Romney's stated intent to "leave running day-to-day operations" to others. And in any case, Romney's statement that he would remain a "part-timer" is merely a statement of intent, issued just as he was leaving for the Olympics job and before he knew how much time it would consume. It is not evidence of what actually happened.

And as to what happened later, the evidence is clear. According to an Associated Press story that ran just two months later, Romney quickly discovered that he was working 16-hour days on the Olympics, leaving no time for Bain (or even his own wedding anniversary).

The AP story goes on to say that Romney "immersed himself in books on sports management" and "has answered about two dozen e-mails and letters a day, spent a quarter of his time dealing with the media, and juggled meeting requests from city officials, board members and business owners."

It also quotes an accountant friend who was assisting Romney, Bob White, as saying "Right now he's doing two, maybe three full-time jobs" running the Olympics. Romney's wife, Ann, is quoted as saying that her husband had been working 112 hours a week at first, causing her to move to Salt Lake City to be with him. Since her arrival, she said, he had cut his Olympics work to 84 hours a week.

The Obama campaign's letter says a reporter learned in a 2000 interview with Ann Romney that her husband was "dividing his time between running Bain and running the Olympics," but in fact those words don't appear in the news clip it cites.

The Nov. 11, 2000 Boston Globe story (which we read in full via Nexis) paraphrases Ann Romney this way: "The [Olympics] project is running smoothly now, though still requiring so much of Mitt Romney's time that he has had to lessen his involvement with Bain Capital, his investment firm." And he did indeed "lessen" his involvement, giving up all management control according to what he has certified repeatedly. The Globe story goes on to quote Ann Romney as saying the couple is still living in Salt Lake City and that "[w]e're still coming home [to Boston] for Thanksgiving." Nowhere is she quoted as saying he has spent any time managing Bain.

FactCheck goes on to demolish the other fragments of "evidence" cited by the Obama campaign. It concludes that Team Obama is "all wet" on this matter. That's putting it kindly

All-time Senate Giants, revisited

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 08:21 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

There have been some great responses to my list of 20 all-time Senate giants. Richard Russell (D-Ga), who was on my last draft of a list, received support. So did Henry "Scoop" Jackson (D-Wash), whom I somehow managed completely to forget about. Jackson was a giant and would rate serious consideration in a revised list.

Others receiving serious mention were Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), Jesse Helms (R-NC), Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.), William Proxmire (D-Wisc.), Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr. (R-Mass.), and Nelson Aldrich (R-RI). I'm not convinced on the first four. Lodge is a strong candidate for inclusion. As for Aldrich, I need to do some homework.

My favorite shout was for Johnny Iselin (?-Manchuria).

Of those on my list, Bob Dole recieved the most push back. Dole was a late addition, and given his lack of "the vision thing," he'd probably be the first to go in a revised list.

Barack Obama, Liar

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 08:01 AM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

That is the theme of this hard-hitting new ad by the Romney campaign, which is running in swing states including Ohio:

The ad is accompanied by a fact sheet titled "The Obama Campaign's Top Ten Lies & Exaggerations." The fact sheet covers an array of issues, not just the false "outsourcing" claims that are the subject of the TV ad.

When it comes to presidential campaigns, everyone is in expert. We all have opinions about what the campaign should do differently. But one thing that has impressed just about every conservative I know is that the Romney campaign is playing to win. They know they will get no quarter from the Democrats, and they give none. They should be congratulated for that.

House Votes To Repeal ObamaCare Tax

As we have noted in the past, ObamaCare continues to be deeply unpopular. Pollster Scott Rasmussen has conducted 100 polls on ObamaCare since it became law, and in every single poll likely voters have supported its repeal.

The individual mandate itself is extremely unpopular. A February Gallup poll found that 72% of Americans, including 56% of Democrats, believed the individual mandate was unconstitutional. Unfortunately, five justices on the Supreme Court decided that the federal government could impose such a mandate through Congress' power to tax.

The only way to get rid of such an unpopular law, now that the Supreme Court has upheld it, is for Congress and a new president to repeal it. Yesterday, the House of Representatives, true to its name, voted 244-to-185 to do just that. Every House Republican voted to repeal the massive ObamaCare tax. But 95% of House Democrats voted to keep this massive tax increase, including the individual mandate, which even 56% of Democrats don't like!

Unfortunately, there is no chance legislation to repeal ObamaCare will pass Harry Reid's Democrat Senate or be signed by this president. The stakes in this election and the contrasts between the parties could not be clearer.

The only solution to stop ObamaCare's massive tax increases from further weakening the economy, growing the government and limiting our freedom is for the voters to elect a Republican president and a Republican majority to the United States Senate on November 6th.

Romney Hits Back

Yesterday I told you about the Obama campaign's hypocritical and misleading attacks on Mitt Romney's record. They are so bad even the liberal Washington Post labeled them "misleading, unfair and untrue." Of course, Obama misled the American people about ObamaCare being a tax too!

I'm pleased to report that the Romney campaign is hitting back with a tough new ad that essentially calls Obama a liar and even uses Hillary Clinton to make the point! Click here to watch Romney's latest ad.

More Democrat Hypocrisy

Democrats are also attacking Mitt Romney for having foreign bank accounts and overseas investments. So what? He's a successful businessman, and at some point wealthy individuals diversify their investments.

Don't we want businessmen and women in America to be successful? How many of you are working for poor people? Wealth should not be resented. Greed, jealousy and envy are not values we should encourage. But that's exactly what socialists do.

As it turns out, many leading Democrats also have foreign investments. For example, the Daily Caller reported yesterday that Nancy Pelosi reported earning between $1 and $5 million in "partnership income" from an investment company that has "a singular focus on investing in Asia."

And our friends at The Weekly Standard reported that DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) "previously held funds with investments in Swiss banks, foreign drug companies, and the state bank of India."

How Much Should The Rich Pay?

Barack Obama wants to raise taxes. He said so Monday. He thinks the rich should pay more starting next year, and he wants everyone else to pay more in 2014. But how much more should the rich or the rest of us pay?

The Congressional Budget Office reported this week that in 2009 the top 20% of earners paid 68% of all federal income taxes. That's like ten people going out for dinner and two of them being told to pay nearly 70% of the bill!

The successful certainly seem to be doing their fair share to support America. Just try to imagine where we would be without them! Yet even with the top 20% paying nearly 70% of all the taxes, Obama is still running deficits in excess of $1 trillion a year!

Assuming Obama does raise taxes on the rich, it won't make a dent in the deficit. The New York Times reports that economists estimate raising taxes on those making $250,000 and more would raise about $85 billion a year. Last year's federal deficit was $1,300 billion. So even after raising taxes on the rich, we're still $1,215 billion short of balancing the budget.

There simply are not enough rich people in America, and they are not rich enough, to pay for all of Obama's spending. That's why Obama wants to raise taxes on everyone else in 2014.

The problem in Washington is not that you are under-taxed, but that Barack Obama is spending too much! He's growing the government, not the economy. He's creating more debt, and not creating jobs. We must stop Obama's socialism by winning this election!

Decorated general: Shariah is here now!

Maybe it was the .50 caliber bullet he took in the chest that makes him so aware when the enemy has crept in close.

Now this decorated general is warning that the enemy of democracy and the U.S. Constitution is so close, it has already penetrated the "deepest halls of our government."

On Thursday's Program

The Oval: Trust - A Two-Way Street

Another poll is out showing Americans are losing trust in nearly every major American institution. Is that bad news for us? Or is there actually something positive we can take out of the fact that people are losing trust? Glenn has the answer in last night's stirring 'The Oval' speech.

What's the future hold for the Tea Party? Glenn talks with Sen. Rand Paul

The left and the media have once again written off the Tea Party as a dying fad. But that's also what they did at the beginning of the movement - so what will really happen? Two of the most central figures in and around the Tea Party debate and discuss its future - WATCH.

Genius: WH closes nine border stations in four states

America spends a reported $100 billion per year on costs related to illegal immigration. Border violence is on the rise as hundreds of elaborate tunnels continue to be unearthed. Despite all of this the Obama administration has decided the best course of action is to start shutting down border stations. What effect will that have?

Watch Pat & Glenn argue like an old married couple

Glenn & Pat have been close friends for decades now, so often times they argue just like an old married couple, but they don't usually do it on air. Well, that happened today when Pat called out Glenn on an email he read. Was it a real email? Glenn stands by it and wastes valuable air time to prove it - watch the two nags HERE.

Romney unintimidated by NAACP

Romney went into the lion's den of the progressive left yesterday when he addressed the NAACP. Surprisingly he didn't pander to them - he didn't even dance around the controversial issues. Is it possible conservatives may have found a politician with a spine? Don't get your hopes up, but one thing's for sure, Romney earned some credibility with Glenn.

The only path for American Restoration: Honor, Courage, and Love

Last night on GBTV Glenn recapped the horrible situation on the border and just how wrong the administration's response has been. It's as if they are purposefully trying to make it worse (sadly that's actually a possibility). Glenn explains the three year journey he's been on and the only possible way to restore America.

Snow White review devolves into discussion about dwarves while Pat and Glenn yell at each other

Perhaps still reeling from their earlier dispute, Pat and Glenn continued to spar today over meaningless things. This time it started with the two somehow talking about Snow White, and then it reverts back to the earlier argument. It was a messy train wreck, Glenn even told Pat "I hate you so much right now" which may actually have been an appropriate response. Check out the altercation HERE.
