Activate: How to turn the 2012 election from a close call to a mandate
Last night, Glenn focused on the importance of commitment. He was the first to admit, a lot of last night's show was something you had heard before - but it's important to start at the beginning and to make sure you know what you believe before you get put into action. And tonight, Glenn revealed ways for you to really get moving!
Tonight, the focus of the show was "Activate" - and it was all about the election and how you can make sure that one way or another - 2012 is a year for a mandate for or against the progressives. And if you think it doesn't matter just take a look at what is happening right now in Wisconsin. Progressives and unions are doing everything they can to make sure that Walker loses. It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.
Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.
It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents. The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.
We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization
Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.
The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs. Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012. |
A Short History of Congress's Power to Tax By Paul Moreno
"In 1935, Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins was fretting about finding a constitutional basis for the Social Security Act. Supreme Court Justice Harlan Fiske Stone advised her, "The taxing power, my dear, the taxing power. You can do anything under the taxing power." Last week, in his ObamaCare opinion, NFIB v. Sebelius, Chief Justice John Roberts gave Congress the same advice-just enact regulatory legislation and tack on a financial penalty, as in failure to comply with the individual insurance mandate. So how did the power to tax under the Constitution become unbounded?"

Dr. Moreno is the William and Berniece Grewcock Professor of Constitutional History at Hillsdale College.
A version of this article appeared July 7, 2012, on page A13 in the U.S. edition of The Wall Street Journal, with the headline: A Short History of Congress's Power to Tax.

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!
In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
- We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
- We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
- We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
- We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.
We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!
Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.
The time to speak out for Israel is now! Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

"...After 8 hours in that chair ............. I was ready for another 8 hours - it seemed to end too soon..." "I was literally stunned. Wow! Brigitte Gabriel has assembled an incredible team to support her message of action and hope!" "...As much as the issue depresses me, and I could cry every time I think about what is happening to the West, I left yesterday's conference energized and inspired. The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Victory Center" on Facebook
-Gabriel Malor
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on. RedState Morning Briefing
For July 12, 2012
BREAKING from yesterday afternoon:
There's some important news RedState has just uncovered that I don't think can wait until tomorrow's morning briefing to put in front of you.
Texas Lt. Governor David DewCrist's ... errr ... Dewhurst's Senate campaign might have just crossed a line it should not have crossed. Who else would be behind the Lt. Governor's taxpayer funded website for his Lieutenant Governor's Office suddenly deleting the transcript of a speech proving David Dewhurst has been lying about his position on illegal aliens?
The speech is . . . well . . . it is gone. Poof.
Again, the website is taxpayer funded and the document suddenly no longer there directly contradicted Dewhurst's present statements on immigration in the Senate campaign.
Now, David Dewhurst adamantly claims that he opposes amnesty - even calling the recent Obama plan to grant permits to illegals who came here as children "nothing short of backdoor amnesty by executive fiat and a blatant political ploy."
But there is one very big problem... He is lying and then covering up the facts that prove he is lying.
We've uncovered the details, the original press coverage, and a screen shot of what David Dewhurst's taxpayer funded website had until his official position started conflicting with his present campaign position.
Click right here for all the details. And consider supporting Ted Cruz.
Sincerely yours,
 Erick Erickson Editor,RedState.com
1. Jim Jordan Will Be At The RedState Gathering. Will You?
The leader of the conservatives in the United States House of Representatives, Jim Jordan (R-OH), is coming to the RedState Gathering.
Congressman Jordan is the Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, which often fights the Republican Leadership from the right. It's a tough job and he handles it well. Future Indiana Governor Mike Pence was once the RSC Chairman, along with Congressmen Jeb Hensarling and Tom Price.
Jim Jordan fights day in and day out for smaller government and often fights the pro-life statists within the Republican Party to get the job done.
Come give him a round of applause and hear what he has to say at the RedState Gathering. Time is running out to register. Go to www.redstategathering.com right now to register.
I hope to see you there.
2. Will Conservatives Be Paper Tigers After This Primary Season?
I look at Texas and see David Dewhurst pouring in money to beat Ted Cruz. A new poll is out and the race is very tight, but Dewhurst has a huge money advantage.
Unfortunately, conservative organizations that have stood with Cruz are not pouring in the money he needs to be able to win.
I look at North Carolina and see pretty much every Republican squish in Congress pouring money into the race for Richard Hudson while so many conservative groups are on the sidelines for Scott Keadle. Only the Club For Growth seems to be fighting hard for him.
I see all the Super PACs gearing up to fight for Mitt Romney, but too few are fighting for conservatives. Jim DeMint cannot do it all by himself. Neither can the Club for Growth.
I see a conservative movement sitting on the sidelines offering nice tokens of support, but only tokens. There are races to be won and conservatives are twiddling their thumbs.
3. Clinton-era Environmental Rules Increased Wildfire Risks in Colorado
Environmental regulations restricting the construction of forest access roads have limited the ability of the Forest Service to clear combustible brush and trees, adding dangerous fuel to the wildfires that have ravaged Colorado this summer. The so-called "roadless rule," which was first implemented in 2001 by President Clinton shortly before he left office, restricts and in many cases prohibits local and federal officials from building and maintaining roads that allow firefighters to clear out growth that could instantly become tinder for a new fire.
4. WHOOPS: DCCC Lets 35 of 75 Oppo Books Slip Through "Back Door"
Opposition research is the grist of stark contrasts, fine tuned messages, and yes, even negative campaign tactics. And usually it is a closely guarded secret. An opponent's record matters in a race, and a good campaign will accumulate as much information as possible about an opponent and strategically time the release of that information to maximize their position and weaken their opponent. The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee has made opposition research an increasingly central part of its role in Democrat congressional campaigns nationwide.
Less than two months after the DCCC gave Roll Call exclusive access to some of its opposition research meetings but prohibited the paper from mentioning the names of targeted Republicans, Media Trackers obtained 35 of the projected total of 75 opposition research notebooks. The digital tomes, ranging from a few dozen to hundreds of pages in length, are a treasure trove of talking points and attacks that the public can expect Democrats and their allies to level at Republican candidates ahead of November.
5. Attack Obamacare on All Fronts: Repeal, Defund, Disrupt
The House voted today to fully repeal Obamacare. It is important that we keep Obamacare at the forefront of the debate, but we must also act in a meaningful way to disrupt its implementation. The more smoothly this behemoth is enacted, the harder it will be to repeal. To that end, we turn to the 29 Republican governors to lead the way.
6. The Southern Strategy Myth and the Lost Majority
I recently finished reading Sean Trende's excellent book The Lost Majority, which is a must-read for anyone attempting to intelligently discuss its subject: how winning political coalitions are built, maintained and undone in the modern American two-party system. Trende covers a range of topics. At the level of political science theory, he dismantles the theory of periodic realigning elections. In his historical analysis, he may surprise you by arguing that the most enduring coalition of the past century was assembled not by McKinley, FDR, or Reagan but Dwight Eisenhower. Looking to the recent past and future, he convincingly demonstrates that Obama's 2008 coalition was always more fragile than Democrats at the time believed, and that there remain obstacles to the John Judis/Ruy Teixeira theory of an Emerging Democratic Majority. Trende's major point is that all such predictions of enduring partisan majorities (he cites many dating back over the past century and a half) ignore the fact that political coalitions inevitably draw together factions with different interests and ideologies, and frictions within those coalitions inevitably offer opportunities for the other party to regain support.
But one of the historical narratives that Trende covers in depth is of particular interest because it remains a crucial part of partisan mythology today: the enduring myth of the Southern Strategy.
7. David Dewhurst's Media Consultants Attack Ted Cruz and RedState *at* RedState
This is amazingly pathetic.
David Dewhurst's campaign gets his state government website altered to cover up his lying about his amnesty position.
What happens? His media consultants invade RedState to accuse Ted Cruz of supporting Chicoms and attack RedState for supporting Cruz.
In fact, this is not the first time Dewhurst's media consultants have done this.
Using the user name "Liberty Patriot," Dewhurst's consultants have dropped by four times to attack Ted Cruz at RedState.

Fast and Furious is not a D.C. law firm
HumanEvents | By: Ann Coulter | 7/11/2012 04:51 PM
Most Americans don't care about whether Attorney General Eric Holder is hiding Fast and Furious documents because they don't understand the story.
Until someone can tell us otherwise, there is only one explanation for why President Obama's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gave thousands of guns to Mexican drug dealers: It put guns in their hands to strengthen liberals' argument for gun control.
Precisely because this is such a jaw-dropping accusation - criminality at the highest level of government to score a political point - Republicans refuse to make it.
But the problem with Republican rectitude in discussing this scandal is that as soon as they start talking about subpoenas and dates and documents, TV channels change across America. They're never going to get answers unless they first explain to the American people why it matters.
Liberals have been dying to reinstate the so-called "assault weapons" ban, but they haven't been able to for political reasons. (For more information on this, see the 1994 congressional elections.)

The United Nations is at it again, exploiting the most vulnerable members of our society to increase its power. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), another American sovereignty-threatening treaty, was sent to President Obama and he signed it on July 30, 2009.
The Treaty has been sent to the U.S. Senate for ratification, and liberal Senate leadership is moving quickly. This Thursday, there will be a hearing on the Treaty before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
We need you to tell your friends and neighbors about this new UN attempted power grab, and we need everyone to call and email your Senators, and urge them to vote AGAINST the CRPD treaty.
The American public cannot afford for this treaty to pass and allow the United Nations to implement more regulation that will have devastating effects on every American "person, organization, or private enterprise." Worse yet, people with disabilities deserve better! Addressing disabilities issues through an international bureaucracy undermines our ability to empower families and communities to serve disabled people's needs.
The CRPD Treaty would expand the already growing powers of the UN in the United States, undermining our national sovereignty. These new regulations are so complex that every American citizen will be impacted by the far-reaching consequences.
The CRPD Treaty will:
- Exceed the bounds of the Americans with Disabilities Act and eliminate any remaining state sovereignty on the issue of disability law.
- Demand that all American law on this subject conform to UN standards.
- Force "every person, organization, or private enterprise" to eliminate discrimination on the basis of disability. This imposes impossible burdens and expenses onto private citizens, as they can be held in violation of the treaty if their private property is not fully accessible to persons with disabilities, even if they do not know any persons with disabilities.
- Give the UN the power to determine the legitimacy and lawfulness of the United States' budgets to assess compliance with such treaties.
Take Action!
The time is NOW to stand up for states' rights and our national sovereignty! I urge you to call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on the CRPD Treaty!

Top 5 Reasons to Repeal Obamacare
The House is scheduled to vote today on full repeal of Obamacare. Although many reports are circulating that Congress has already voted on this numerous times, this is only the second time the House will have voted to fully repeal the law.
Heritage has laid out the impacts of Obamacare on the American people-and according to a poll released this week, a majority of Americans agree that Obamacare should be repealed. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius took to the pages of The Washington Post this week to re-argue the Administration's positions, claiming basically the opposite of the havoc Obamacare is wreaking on the U.S. economy and health care system.
As Congress takes up the issue, we present the Top 5 Reasons to Repeal Obamacare:
5. To stop adding to the U.S. deficit and debt.
4. To help stop Taxmageddon.
3. To preserve freedom, including religious freedom, for all Americans.
2. To keep health care decisions where they belong-with patients and their doctors.
1. To make way for real, patient-centered, market-based health care reform.
Health care reform that preserves American liberty is possible and is direly needed. The Heritage Foundation's Saving the American Dream provides such a plan and would put us on a course toward a truly consumer-based health care system. A starting point should be setting commonsense insurance rules for those who buy their own insurance-individuals and small businesses outside the large group market. Congress should combine sensible individual health insurance market reforms with appropriate tax and Medicaid reforms for a fair and fiscally sound strategy to expand coverage to the currently uninsured.
Is Repeal Possible?
As research by Heritage's Bob Moffit concludes, "Based on Washington's record of health policymaking, ending or rolling back Obamacare is hardly implausible." Moffit points to examples from history: the repeal of the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 and President Bill Clinton's failed attempts at reform in 1994. Moffit notes that the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 was originally enacted with bipartisan support in both the House and Senate, but repealed one year later. The reason? Plain and simple: it was the disapproval of the American people that drove the law's removal.

Twitter could swing presidential vote in Pennsylvania
State in play in digital battle
Philadelphia Inquirer | By John Timpane | July 9, 2012 12:30 pm
The Republican and Democratic parties think so. In this tight presidential race, a national battle is on. And the ammo includes thousands of tweets, 140-character messages shot off to hundreds of thousands of followers, a blizzard of news, talking points, zingers, datelines and instructions to the faithful.
Nowhere is it fiercer than in Pennsylvania. The commonwealth has lost 45 percent of its electoral clout since 1932, and it hasn't backed a GOP presidential candidate since 1988. But in a year when every electoral vote is golden, Republicans swear it's in play and Democrats are fighting as if it is.
In New Jersey, which is not considered a swing state, Twitter is but one among many media. In Pennsylvania, swinging like crazy, Twitter might be crucial.
As Kirsten Kukowski, spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, says, Twitter "has become how news gets started, and how that news is amplified."

Obamacare Silver Linings: A Limited Victory for Limited Government
The U.S. Supreme Court decision on Obamacare in late June-though it is tragic with regard to statutory interpretation and health care policy-has two significant constitutional silver linings. At the constitutional level, the stakes are much more significant and resistant to political influence. In short, the American people may elect new representatives to repeal Obamacare, but today's constitutional rulings are far more enduring. And they are, on balance, wonderful.
The Court is inexplicable in reading the mandate penalty as a tax when President Obama and congressional sponsors emphatically denied it was a tax, but that is only a misreading of a statute. On that statutory ruling, the Court majority held that the mandate penalty is not a tax for purposes of the tax Anti-Injunction Act, but is a tax under Congress's taxing power, despite the fact that the law never calls it a tax. Yes, this is a terribly strained reading of the statute. Still, five justices opined that the mandate, standing alone, cannot be justified under the Commerce Clause or the Necessary and Proper Clause. This is a serious blow to 90 percent of the legal academics and about 90 percent of Congress, since these have been the clauses used to justify so much of the modern administrative state.
On the pro-government side of the ledger, Chief Justice John Roberts goes too far to expand the reach of Congress's taxing power. That is not a good development by any means, but the Framers understood that there are at least some political checks on the use of the taxing power. This is one reason why President Barack Obama and the liberal sponsors of Obamacare tried so hard to deny that it was a tax. One political reality of the decision is the Court essentially says Obamacare is a massive tax increase, falling most heavily on the middle class. Didn't someone promise not to do that? The majority's ruling on the onerous conditions attached to the Medicaid expansion is also helpful in limiting Congress's power to bribe states into submission or to threaten them with the loss of federal revenue in a long-run federal-state program. Indeed, seven justices seemed to agree that some constitutional limitations were breached in the Medicaid expansion. This itself is a landmark ruling. Liberal legal scholars are not going to like most of today's constitutional rulings; their wailing will start pretty soon. In the long run, today's constitutional rulings will be seen as an important victory in promoting fidelity to the Constitution and the ideal of limited government. The American people and their elected representatives have a lot of work to do to repeal and replace the Obamacare statute. Moreover, we still have an uphill battle to restore and preserve the written Constitution we have been bequeathed. Today the hard work continues, as Benjamin Franklin long ago urged, to "keep" the Constitution the Framers granted us, with its ideal of limited government. That sound you hear is Pennsylvania slipping away from the Democrats
Jul 11, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Kevin "Coach" Collins
When you hear talk about Barack Obama winning Pennsylvania in November remember that's all it is: "talk." Obama won Pennsylvania 55/44 in 2008 beating the hapless John McCain by 620,478 votes. But that was then and this is now.
There are several serious obstacles to an Obama victory not the least of which is the Commonwealth's successful efforts to foreclose a large amount of Democrat voter fraud.
The Pennsylvania voter ID law has the potential to singlehandedly stop 750,000 fraudulent votes; more than enough to overcome Obama's margin in 2008 if all other factors were equal which they are not.
Pennsylvania's Democrats are running in circles bumping into walls trying to figure out how they can get anything like the number of fraudulent voters they need to win. They realize relying on a court's finding that the law is unconstitutional is iffy at best. Pennsylvania's Photo ID to ... Millard Fillmore became the 13th President, JULY 10, 1850, when President Zachary Taylor died unexpectedly. President Millard Fillmore stated: "A great man has fallen among us and a whole country is called to...mourning...I dare not shrink; and I rely upon Him who holds in His hands the destinies of nations to endow me with the requisite strength for the task." President Millard Fillmore was remembered for sending Commodore Perry to open trade with Japan, admitting California, which had just begun the Gold Rush, into the Union as a free state, and when the Library of Congress caught fire, he and his Cabinet formed a bucket brigade to help extinguish the flames. After being sworn into office, President Millard Fillmore, who was a member of the Episcopal Church, stated: "The Sabbath day I always kept as a day of rest. Obama warns Congress, "Don't threaten my power!"

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 (NDAA) is making its way through Congress and if it is in any way different from last year's unconstitutional onslaught against the American public, it is only for the worse.
Last year, Congress overwhelmingly passed and Barack Hussein Obama signed into law the most egregious assault on due process rights in the nation's history. The NDAA of 2012 gave Obama unlimited authority to have members of the U.S. military detain any American citizen he suspected of posing a potential threat to the United States. According to the Act, such citizens face an indefinite period of imprisonment with no right of habeas corpus, no right to trial, no right to present proof of innocence and no method of appeal.
In his signing statement, Obama made a point of offering false and cynical protestations against this indefinite detention language, claiming his administration "...[would] not authorize without ... Continue Reading:Obama warns Congress, "Don't threaten my power!"

Why the West Loves Lying to Itself About Islam
Say that you get a tempting offer from a Nigerian prince and decide to invest some money in helping him transfer his vast fortune from Burkina Faso or Dubai over to the bank across the street. The seemingly simple task of bringing over the 18 million dollars left to him by his father hits some snags which require you to put in more and more of your own money.
Eventually you have invested more than you ever would have ever done up front, just trying to protect the sunk cost, the money that you already sank into Prince Hussein Ngobo's scheme. And to protect your self-esteem, you must go on believing that, no matter what Prince Ngobo does, he is credible and sincere. Any failings in the interaction are either your fault or the fault of some third party. Anyone who tells you otherwise must be a Ngobophobe.
Now imagine that Prince Ngobo's real name is Islam.
That is where Western elites find themselves now. They invested heavily in the illusion of a compatible Islamic civilization. Those investments, whether in Islamic immigration or Islamic democracy or peace with Islam have turned toxic, but dropping those investments is as out of the question as writing off Prince Ngobo as a con artist and walking away feeling like a fool. Western elites, who fancy themselves more intelligent and more enlightened than the wise men and prophets of every religion, and who base their entire right to rule on that intelligence and enlightenment, are not in the habit of admitting that they are fools.
The Arab Springers who predicted that the Muslim uprisings would bring a new age of secularism, freedom and an end to the violence between Islam and the West; are busy writing up new checks. Thomas Friedman is penning essays explaining why the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood will mean regional stability and peace with Israel (and if it doesn't, it will be our fault.)

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 118 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Click here to listen now. Kudos To Mitt Romney! Governor Mitt Romney walked into the proverbial lion's den today and addressed what is undoubtedly one of Barack Obama's most loyal constituencies -- the NAACP. To his credit, Governor Romney didn't hold back. He took on Obama's pathetic record on the economy and said this:
"If our goal is jobs, we have to stop spending over a trillion dollars more than we take in every year. So to do that, I'm going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program I can find. That includes ObamaCare..."
Not surprisingly, he was interrupted by a sustained chorus of boos at that point. Undeterred, Romney reminded the audience of a survey conducted by the Chamber of Commerce that found three-quarters of businesses said ObamaCare made them less likely to hire new workers. In addition, Governor Romney addressed the urgent need for serious educational reform, and he also talked about family values and how out of wedlock births frequently lead to a life of poverty. Consider this excerpt:
"I'm hopeful that together we can set a new direction in federal policy, starting where many of our problems do - with the family. A study from the Brookings Institution has shown that for those who graduate from high school, get a full-time job, and wait until 21 before they marry and then have their first child, the probability of being poor is two percent. And if those factors are absent, the probability of being poor is 76 percent. "Here at the NAACP, you understand the deep and lasting difference the family makes. Your former executive director, Dr. Benjamin Hooks, had it exactly right. The family, he said, 'remains the bulwark and the mainstay of the black community. That great truth must not be overlooked.' Any policy that lifts up and honors the family is going to be good for the country, and that must be our goal. As President, I will promote strong families -- and I will defend traditional marriage."
Good job, Governor! Now, Brace Yourself As we wrote yesterday, the Democrats play by different rules. A new left-wing group called "The Message" includes a former president of Media Matters and, not surprisingly, a former journalist for the New York Times. Its goal, according to a press release, is to "say things that Democrats are afraid to say." The Message is making headlines for a video spoofing the Romney campaign's preparation for today's NAACP speech. In the video, a consultant tells Romney he is so white, "you make Wonder Bread look like pumpernickel." It also raises Romney's Mormon faith twice. Have you heard anything about this group? Any condemnation from the Obama campaign or the liberal media? Do you remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth a few weeks ago when the New York Times reported on a memo from a GOP consultant who wanted to make Jeremiah Wright an issue in this campaign? The GOP immediately went into damage control mode. Within hours, the Romney campaign denounced the ad idea and the consultant has had his life destroyed. During a sermon in Washington, D.C., this weekend, Wright said that blacks educated in America's universities -- are infected with "white racist DNA running through the synapses of their under-brain tissue." He added that such blacks "will defend anyone who is perceived to be the enemy of the milky white way of life." Progressives can bring up Romney's faith and mock his race, but we're not supposed to talk about the fact that Barack Obama sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for nearly 20 years. The double standard has to end. Wake up, GOP! Obama's Outsourcing Hypocrisy For the past few weeks, the Obama campaign has been slamming Mitt Romney as a jobs "outsourcer." The Obama team is desperately trying to undermine one of Romney's main attributes -- his success as a businessman creating jobs in the private sector. The Washington Post gave Obama's negative ad its worst rating of four Pinocchios, calling it "misleading, unfair and untrue." I'd add one more word: hypocritical. As it turns out, there was a lot of outsourcing done thanks to the Obama Administration in recent years. Worse, you paid for it! Not only in terms of lost jobs, but also with your hard-earned tax dollars from Obama's so-called "stimulus bill." You don't have to take my word for it. Check out this report by ABC News from last September. By the way, you'll probably have to sit through one of Obama's "misleading, unfair and untrue" ads labeling Romney an "outsourcer-in-chief" before you watch it! But this just fits the pattern of lies and deception that have become so commonplace with this administration. Obama attacks banks and private companies for "speculating" with private dollars while he's making bad bets on Solyndra and other failed boondoggles with your money! He's trying to pass himself off as a middle class tax cutter, while he's really calling for massive tax hikes. Rahmbo Talks Values I about fell out of my chair watching a recent CBS interview with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. He was lamenting the values of Chicago's gang culture, as nearly three hundred people have been killed in Chicago this year, many of them kids. Emanuel said:
"It is about values. As I said then [when a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed last month], who raised you? How were you raised? And I don't buy this case where people say they don't have values. They do have values. They have the wrong values. Don't come near the kids -- don't touch them."
Well, he's asking the right questions, but sadly he can't come up with the right answers. Certainly these kids aren't getting their values from their fathers because they aren't around. For the past fifty years, his party has made it comfortable for many women not to have husbands in the home. Now Obama and the Democrats have embraced the radical idea of men "marrying" other men! How is that going to help the black family? When Emanuel worked in the Clinton White House, the response to gang violence was midnight basketball programs. And, of course, it was around that time when Democrats and their media allies did their best to convince us that values really didn't matter. The fact is values do matter. There is no government program that can make up for the breakdown of the family. And this election should be about more than just economics. News You Won't Hear Monday President Obama called on Congress to pass a one-year extension of the Bush tax cuts for those making less than $250,000, while raising taxes on everyone making more than $250,000. Today, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell went to the Senate floor and said, "My recommendation is we give the president what he asked for." Sen. McConnell asked for unanimous consent to hold a vote on Obama's plan to raise taxes. But the vote never happened. Why not? Because Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid objected! Remind your liberal friends of that the next time they accuse Republicans of obstructing all of Obama's policies.

"Would it not be better to simplify the system of taxation rather than to spread it over such a variety of subjects and pass through so many new hands." --Thomas Jefferson
Editorial Exegesis

"So the 2013 tax cliff is a big enough economic problem that President Obama now wants to postpone it for some taxpayers. But it isn't so big that he's willing to curb his desire to raise taxes on tens of thousands of job-creating businesses. That's the essence of Mr. Obama's announcement Monday that he wants Congress to extend current tax rates for a year, but only for those making less than $200,000 a year. This is a political gambit designed to protect Democrats who are starting to feel queasy about opposing GOP plans to extend all of the Bush rates as the economy weakens again. ... If the Bush tax rates expire as scheduled on December 31, rates on the top two income brackets will jump to 39.6% from 35%, and 36% from 33%. Add the scheduled return of income phaseouts for exemptions and deductions, and the rates go up another two-percentage points -- to at least 41% and 35%. Mr. Obama claims this will merely return rates to what 'we were paying under Bill Clinton,' but that's not true either. It ignores his ObamaCare tax increase of 0.9% on top of the current 2.9% Medicare tax, plus a new 2.9% surcharge on investment income, including interest income. That's an additional 3.8% surcharge on investment income, and added to the Bush expirations would take the capital gains rate to 23.8% from 15% today, and the dividend tax rate to about 45% from 15%. ... Congress's Joint Tax Committee -- not a conservative outfit -- estimates that in 2013 about 940,000 taxpayers will have enough business income to meet Mr. Obama's tax increase threshold. And of the roughly $1.3 trillion in net business income, about 53% will get hit with the higher tax rates. This is because millions of businesses report their income as sole proprietors and subchapter S corporations that file under the individual tax code. So Mr. Obama wants these businesses to pay higher tax rates than the giant likes of General Electric or J.P. Morgan. Does that qualify as 'tax fairness'? ... Republicans can win this debate by stressing growth over fairness and jobs over income redistribution." --The Wall Street Journal
Upright
"Remember in August 2009, when Obama supported extending the Bush tax cuts because, as he then put it, 'The last thing we want to do is raise taxes during a recession'? Well, here we are with 8.2% unemployment (we haven't been below 8% for 3-1/2 years), meager 1.9% average GDP growth with a very real threat of recession on the horizon, trillion-dollar deficits extending as far as the eye can see, and this is a good time to raise taxes? Doubly confusing is the fact that Obama and his Democrat allies are on the record as saying that the Bush tax cuts did not work. Yet he wants to extend them for the middle class, but only for a year. Please tell us, Mr. President, why extend tax cuts you don't believe worked?" --Investor's Business Daily
"This continues to be the longest streak -- 41 months -- of unemployment of 8% or higher since the Great Depression. And recall that back in 2009, Team Obama predicted that if Congress passed its $800 billion stimulus plan, the unemployment rate would be around 5.6% today. ... And there are few signs the rest of the year will be any better. And given a) how the eurocrisis is AGAIN flaring up, and b) China continues to slow, it sure seems like 2% growth and 8% unemployment is a best-case scenario with plenty of downside risk -- for the economy and the Obama campaign." --American Enterprise Institute columnist James Pethokoukis
"Barack Obama believes that politics is a knife fight, and the only rule is that he must win. His conduct reflects the unholy mix of a messiah complex with the muscle of The Chicago Way. His goal, he tells us, is to 'transform' America, not fix it. This culture clash explains a presidential campaign operating in parallel universes. Romney is making a broad pitch to the nation as a whole, assuming jobs, the debt, deficit and a strong military are what people care about because they should. Obama knows that's no longer true for a big slice of the country. He gives lip service to those issues, but they concern him only to the extent they could be his undoing." --columnist Michael Goodwin
"Both employers and consumers are convinced that these are uncertain times, when money is better hoarded and protected rather than risked, given the uncertainty of administration policy and the certainty that profit-making is looked upon as suspicious. And just as many believe there will be no let up until the end of 2012, so, too, they trust that after that date, the long-term outlook -- energy-wise, tax-wise, technology-wise -- is pretty good, suggesting that they should weather the current storm to be poised for its passing soon. We are now at an impasse: The nation is shrugging, and will the president try to coax it to start lifting again, or in petulance, add more weight?" --historian Victor Davis Hanson

Blame game: "Instead of creating more jobs, we had the slowest job growth in half a century, and instead of widespread prosperity, the typical family saw its income fall." --Barack Obama blaming the Bush tax cuts for the economy
Class warfare: "So we don't need more top-down economics. We've tried that theory. We've seen what happens. We can't afford to go back to it." --Barack Obama
"So I'm not proposing anything radical. I just believe that anybody making over $250,000 a year should go back to the income tax rates we were paying under Bill Clinton. Back when our economy created nearly 23 million new jobs, the biggest budget surplus in history, and plenty of millionaires to boot. ... At the same time, most people agree that we should not raise taxes on middle-class families or small businesses -- not when so many folks are just trying to get by. " --Barack Obama

On partisan bickering: "I suspect that most people ... would acknowledge that I've tried real hard, and we just haven't gotten the kind of willingness on the part of Republicans to engage on a whole range of issues that I wish had happened. Part of what I think needs to happen in this election is the voters once again have to send a message, 'We want common-sense ideas. We don't folks who are just sayin' no to everything.'" --Barack Obama explaining that it's all Republicans fault that he hasn't reached across the aisle

Dezinformatsia
The wrong question: "All right, Congress is back to work ... after a Fourth of July recess. And in just two days, House Republicans plan to call a vote to repeal the president's health care overhaul law. ... I'm wondering, should Congress people be spending more time helping constituents comply with the law rather than continuing all of this uncertainty about it?" --CNN's Christine Romans
Government saves: "Many Americans say they're unhappy about the health care law, but the the popularity of the law is something of a red herring. Sometimes, government must lead. Sometimes, government must demand people accept change that they're not yet ready for. Those are the moments when leaders with vision can change society and create the crescendos of history. In freeing the slaves, desegregating schools, enacting Title IX, and legalizing gay marriage, government led America into a new world much of the country wasn't ready for -- but in time, we adjusted. And this too shall pass." --MSNBC's Touré
Totally backwards: "It speaks to a perception. And I don't know how fair it is, I'm not a business analyst. I don't know if Mr. Romney did good things at Bain Capital, but I do know that this is the wrong time to be running as a businessman. It has become something of a dirty word." --political commentator Keith Olbermann

Senate Dems Kill Obama's Tax Plan
by Ben Shapiro
In a shocking repudiation of President Obama's "soak the rich" economic plans, Senate Democrats today blocked a vote on President Obama's proposal to raise taxes on those earning more than $250,000 per year. Senate Republicans had proposed an immediate vote on the measure. In fact, they proposed two votes: one to extend the Bush tax cuts in their totality, the other to raise taxes as per Obama's plan. "My recommendation is we give the president what he asked for," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The strategy for McConnell and Republicans is simple: they want to show Americans that even Democrats recognize that the Bush tax cuts ought to be extended for all Americans. And Democrats want to avoid that vote, so they can continue posturing and conducting class warfare.

When Barack Obama promised to "fundamentally transform the United States" we could not have anticipated the extreme transformations he would seek. The evidence is rolling in that he is determined to transform America into a totally secular land where religion is permitted only within the walls of a church, but is banned in every public place, public gathering and public school.

His entire presidency has been a seamless fabric of deception and duplicity. But why? The answer may surprise you ... Click here to read the full article.

Fast and Furious is not a D.C. law firm

Most Americans don't care about whether Attorney General Eric Holder is hiding Fast and Furious documents, because they don't understand the story.

House Votes to Repeal Obamacare on Slightly Bipartisan Basis
Posted: 11 Jul 2012 01:57 PM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
The House voted 244-185 this afternoon to repeal Obamacare. No surprise there; the only suspense related to how many Democrats would vote with the Republicans for repeal. In the event, there were five: Mike Ross, D-Ark.; Dan Boren, D-Okla.; Mike McIntyre, D-N.C.; Larry Kissell, D-N.C.; and Jim Matheson, D-Utah. McIntyre and Kissell announced some time ago that they would vote for repeal, and Kissell, at least, has said that he will not support Obama's re-election. Matheson is running against the dynamic Mia Love in Utah's new Fourth District and, one can guess, expects a close race in which he didn't want to be burdened with Obamacare. Ross is retiring, so presumably his vote reflects his actual views on the issue.
Having five Democrats on board allows Republicans to say the vote was bipartisan, but my guess is the Democrats are relieved that there weren't more defections.

All-time Senate giants
Posted: 11 Jul 2012 10:05 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
Dana Milbank's dismal column about the alleged absence of "giants" in the current Senate has prompted me select 20 all-time Senate giants. As with most all star teams, halls of fame, and alike, there are no fixed criteria. However, there are two rules. First, current Senators are excluded. Absent this rule, John McCain and Orrin Hatch would rate consideration. Second, ideology isn't taken into account. A Senator does not make or miss the list because of my view of what he stood for and tried to accomplish.
Here's the list:
Henry Clay (Whig-Kentucky) John Calhoun (Democrat-South Carolina) Daniel Webster (Whig-Massachusetts) Thomas Hart Benton (Democrat-Missouri) Stephen Douglas (Democrat-Illinois) William Seward (Whig/Republican-New York) Charles Sumner (Free Soil Democrat/Republican-Massachusetts) James Blaine (Republican-Maine) Roscoe Conkling (Republican-New York) Robert La Follette (Republican/Progressive-Wisconsin) Robert Wagner (Democrat-New York) Robert Taft (Republican-Ohio) George Norris (Republican/Independent-Nebraska) Arthur Vandenberg (Republican-Michigan) Lyndon Johnson (Democrat-Texas) Hubert Humphrey (Democrat-Minnesota) Everett Dirksen (Republican-Illinois) Barry Goldwater (Republican-Arizona) Ted Kennedy (Democrat-Massachusetts) Robert Dole (Republican-Kansas)

Why Is Mitt Romney Addressing the NAACP Convention?
Posted: 11 Jul 2012 08:43 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
I generally question whether it is wise for Republicans to speak to groups like the NAACP. The NAACP has lost whatever moral standing it once had, and now is merely another left-wing pressure group. Making what comes off as a pilgrimage to ask for that organization's approval tends to legitimize it, and it is hard to see what good can result.
That said, Mitt Romney's speech-which he either has delivered or will give shortly-contains an appeal that is both candid and shrewd. He began by placing his appearance in a political context:
With 90 percent of African-Americans voting for Democrats, some of you may wonder why a Republican would bother to campaign in the African American community, and to address the NAACP. Of course, one reason is that I hope to represent all Americans, of every race, creed or sexual orientation, from the poorest to the richest and everyone in between.
But there is another reason: I believe that if you understood who I truly am in my heart, and if it were possible to fully communicate what I believe is in the real, enduring best interest of African American families, you would vote for me for president. I want you to know that if I did not believe that my policies and my leadership would help families of color - and families of any color - more than the policies and leadership of President Obama, I would not be running for president.
The opposition charges that I and people in my party are running for office to help the rich. Nonsense. The rich will do just fine whether I am elected or not. The President wants to make this a campaign about blaming the rich. I want to make this a campaign about helping the middle class.
I am running for president because I know that my policies and vision will help hundreds of millions of middle class Americans of all races, will lift people from poverty, and will help prevent people from becoming poor.
What follows is the part I like best. Most liberal African-American activists are obsessively committed to the idea that race discrimination not only exists but is a huge barrier to advancement of black Americans. This idea, whether true or not, is their meal ticket, and they will never give it up, no matter what the facts may be. But Romney, rather than challenging the convention's cherished belief head-on, shrewdly made it part of his appeal for African-American votes:
If someone had told us in the 1950s or 1960s that a black citizen would serve as the forty-fourth president, we would have been proud and many would have been surprised. Picturing that day, we might have assumed that the American presidency would be the very last door of opportunity to be opened. Before that came to pass, every other barrier on the path to equal opportunity would surely have come down.
Of course, it hasn't happened quite that way. Many barriers remain. Old inequities persist. In some ways, the challenges are even more complicated than before. And across America - and even within your own ranks - there are serious, honest debates about the way forward.
If equal opportunity in America were an accomplished fact, then a chronically bad economy would be equally bad for everyone. Instead, it's worse for African Americans in almost every way. The unemployment rate, the duration of unemployment, average income, and median family wealth are all worse for the black community. In June, while the overall unemployment rate remained stuck at 8.2 percent, the unemployment rate for African Americans actually went up, from 13.6 percent to 14.4 percent.
Americans of every background are asking when this economy will finally recover - and you, in particular, are entitled to an answer.
If equal opportunity in America were an accomplished fact, black families could send their sons and daughters to public schools that truly offer the hope of a better life. Instead, for generations, the African-American community has been waiting and waiting for that promise to be kept. Today, black children are 17 percent of students nationwide - but they are 42 percent of the students in our worst-performing schools.
Romney highlighted the conflict of interest between the Democratic Party's two most loyal constituents-African-Americans and teachers' unions:
Charter schools are so successful that almost every politician can find something good to say about them. But, as we saw in Massachusetts, true reform requires more than talk. As Governor, I vetoed the bill blocking charter schools. But our legislature was 87 percent Democrat, and my veto could have been easily over-ridden. So I joined with the Black Legislative Caucus, and their votes helped preserve my veto, which meant that new charter schools, including some in urban neighborhoods, would be opened.
When it comes to education reform, candidates cannot have it both ways - talking up education reform, while indulging the same groups that are blocking reform. You can be the voice of disadvantaged public-school students, or you can be the protector of special interests like the teachers unions, but you can't be both. I have made my choice: As president, I will be a champion of real education reform in America, and I won't let any special interest get in the way.
Will Romney's appeal work? Certainly not with the professional activists at the NAACP convention. And he won't get any significant number of African-American votes if he doesn't campaign in ways that most Republicans haven't seen as cost-effective, e.g., advertising on inner-city radio stations. But it looks as though the Romney campaign will have the resources for that kind of effort. And he doesn't need to get a lot of black votes; anything more than a handful could very well swing one or more battleground states. So maybe today's appearance will prove worthwhile; but only if it is followed up with a sustained effort to make his case to African-American voters.
PAUL ADDS: Perhaps the main reason why candidates like Romney address the NAACP is to appeal to white moderates who are comforted when a conservative candidate reaches out to African-Americans. These white moderates have their heart in the right place (as does Romney, who himself has a moderate streak), but their view of NAACP is outdated, as John indicates. So I think it's unfortunate that they like it when Republican presidential dutifully to appear before the NAACP. But that's the reality, in my view, and there's no use fighting it.

They might be giants, but Dana Milbank wouldn't know
Posted: 11 Jul 2012 07:24 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
The Washington Post's Dana Milbank writes about "The missing giants" of the Senate and pronounces that there's a "plague of legislatative dwarfism in the Senate." This sort of column has been written, I suspect, since the "Great Triumvirate" (Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John Calhoun) left the scene 160 year ago.
Milbank being Milbank, his incarnation of the "where have all the giants gone" lament is largely a vehicle for attacking conservative Republicans. Orrin Hatch and John McCain might be giants, he concedes, but for the fact that McCain now acts consistently like a Republican and Hatch no longer pals around much with Democrats. To Milbank, this means they that Hatch and McCain have "stooped to joined the Lilliputians," by which Milbank means Senators with whose ideology he disagrees.
Milbank thus betrays an ignorance of Senate history. Henry Clay, who receives the obligatory mention from Milbank, helped broker great compromises every 30 years or so. But his partisanship, and accompanying over-the-top rhetoric, during the Age of Jackson, would make Allen West blush. One of his attacks on Jackson and Martin Van Buren was so vicious that spectators believed the two would come to blows on the Senate floor (fortunately Van Buren was unflappable and his physical approach to Clay was solely for the purpose of asking for snuff). As for John Calhoun, also mentioned by Milbank, I doubt there has ever been as reckless, irresponsible, and uncompromising a partisan Senator of any serious note.
Milbank gives the game away when he discusses specific instances in which he believes voters have "traded down" in the Senate. The comparisons Milbank offers are inherently foolish because new Senators seldom will have the stature of veterans. Milbank's approach is a bit like comparing the accomplishments of rookie athletes to those of long-time veterans who have retired.
Even so, did the voters of West Virginia really trade down when they selected Joe Manchin to fill Robert Byrd's old seat? Bryd was a partisan windbag. Manchin, formerly a very popular governor, has an independent streak. But for Milbank, independence is only a plus if you're a Republican.
Milbank also reaches way back to bemoan the fact that Jim DeMint ("of Tea Party fame," Milbank informs us derisively) now holds Fritz Hollins' old South Carolina seat. But from an objective historical perspective, this is a trade up. Hollins had some stature, but DeMint is the formidable leader of an important national faction. In this respect, he resembles past Senators who, though reviled in their day by people who hated their faction, are now considered giants. Examples include Calhoun, Barry Goldwater, and Robert La Follette (all cited by Milbank). If DeMint's faction continues to rise, he could come to resemble giants like Thomas Hart Benton, Robert Taft, and Ted Kennedy.
What would an objective list of all-time Senate giants look like? I'll take a stab at providing one in my next post.

Tell Pennsylvania Sens. Bob Casey and Pat Toomey: Slow Down Massive Immigration to Save Jobs for Unemployed Pennsylvania Residents Even as hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania workers are struggling to find a job, Congress has continued to issue 125,000 new work visas a month to immigrants and other foreign workers. This equals 1.5 million new foreign workers each year, who compete directly with Pennsylvania residents for a very limited number of Pennsylvania's jobs. Who benefits from allowing 1.5 million new foreign workers into the U.S. each year? Certainly not the 484,000 residents of Pennsylvania who are currently unemployed. Unfortunately, Sens. Casey and Toomey have done nothing to reduce the number of foreign workers to the U.S. And as a result, unemployed Pennsylvania workers continue to suffer. This continued failure to stand up for jobless Pennsylvania residents by Sens. Casey and Toomey is inexcusable. Your fellow unemployed Pennsylvania workers need more opportunities. Please don't delay. Send the critical message below to Pennsylvania Sens. Casey and Toomey today, urging them to reduce immigration to a more sensible level. This is a completely free service. There is no cost to you.
Dear Senators Casey and Toomey,
Our nation has a proud and rich immigration tradition. However, we need to move our immigration policies into the 21st century.
With unemployment numbers still high and our nation struggling to control its national debt, it is time for Congress to consider reducing overall immigration numbers.
The United States gives new work permits to 1.5 million immigrants and other foreign workers each year--not including the illegal aliens who arrive. When our nation is trillions in debt and has a shortage of millions of jobs, there is simply no way to justify these numbers. Taxpayers end up subsidizing the Americans who lose their jobs because of immigration.
Please support measures that would end illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration to sensible numbers. The American people are counting on you to do the right thing. Please don't let us down.
Sincerely, (Your Name Will Appear Here)

Russia said on Tuesday that it had dispatched a flotilla of 11 warships to the eastern Mediterranean, some of which would dock in Syria. It would be the largest display of Russian military power in the region since the Syrian conflict began almost 17 months ago. Nearly half of the ships were capable of carrying hundreds of marines.

American Laws for American Courts legislation protects Americans from foreign law when such law violates our constitutional rights. So why are Muslim Brotherhood groups such CAIR and ICNA so opposed to it?

Yes, between Israel and Russia, something is happening, but as Godfather Vito Corleone used to say, "Don't take it personally. It's just business."

The latest Executive Orders are not "a conspiracy theory." They are the law of the land. Obama is putting in force everything a tyranny requires to replace the Republic.

We need more technicians, more truck drivers, more plumbers, more electricians - none of these requiring a four-year academic program. They may well be more valuable to society than an Ethnic Studies major.

President Obama's plan to repeal the Bush tax cuts for incomes over $200,000 ($250,000 for joint filers) would, along with other tax increases, raise the top two marginal tax rates from 35 percent and 33 percent to 39.6 percent and 36 percent, respectively.

As the U.S. withdraws from its role as the international "balance wheel" and there isn't an alternative anywhere in the G-20, is our globe leaderless? Is a world without leaders a world on the brink of anarchy?

On Today's Program
Is a Romney win in 2012 more historic than Obama 08?
The media hyped Obama's run in 2008 as historic - and in many ways it was. But to most people it was confirmation of what we already knew - that Americans have no problem electing a minority to the Presidency. On radio today Glenn raised the point that a Romney 2012 win could be even more historic than Obama 08. Find out why HERE.
'You're struggling': Andrea Mitchell tries to defend debunked Romney attacks, fails badly
Even though the claim has been thoroughly debunked by several liberal outlets, the media continues to push the lie that Romney outsourced jobs while he was at Bain Capital. He didn't. Andrea Mitchell hasn't received the memo and attempted to levy the charge against Romney again and failed so badly that former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu could do nothing but laugh. WATCH
Left strangely cool with Mormon bigotry
The left has touted itself as the party of inclusion and tolerance while hiding behind the media as they target political foes as haters, racists and bigots. So it's a bit strange to see folks on the left, such as Spike Lee, openly admit their religious bigotry. Lee explained why 'a lot of black people' won't vote for a Mormon. WATCH and get Glenn's reaction HERE.
2008 Obama voter explains what caused him to switch
Glenn took an interesting call on radio today. A gentleman who claimed he voted for Obama in 2008 admitted he was caught up in what the media billed a 'historic' election. Soon after the election, however, he began doing his homework. What did he find? Glenn enjoyed the call so much he made quite a generous offer -- hear that and this amazing transformation.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: SHAMELESS HYPOCRITE
The DNC Chair tried to lash out at Romney over the revelation that he has a Swiss bank account. Realizing Romney has done nothing immoral, unethical, nor illegal, Schultz is left with the vaunted 'I'm just throwing that out there' argument. But the worst part is -- if Schultz thinks Romney's overseas banking is so bad, why is she doing the exact same thing?
