Muslim Brotherhood claims victory in Egypt election
CAIRO - The Muslim Brotherhood declared early Monday that its candidate, Mohammed Morsi, won Egypt's presidential election, which would be the first victory of an Islamist as head of state in the stunning wave of protests demanding democracy that swept the Middle East the past year. But the military handed itself the lion's share power over the new president, sharpening the possibility of confrontation. With parliament dissolved and martial law effectively in force, the generals issued an interim constitution granting themselves sweeping authorities that ensure their hold on the state and subordinate the president.

Activate: How to turn the 2012 election from a close call to a mandate
Last night, Glenn focused on the importance of commitment. He was the first to admit, a lot of last night's show was something you had heard before - but it's important to start at the beginning and to make sure you know what you believe before you get put into action. And tonight, Glenn revealed ways for you to really get moving!
Tonight, the focus of the show was "Activate" - and it was all about the election and how you can make sure that one way or another - 2012 is a year for a mandate for or against the progressives. And if you think it doesn't matter just take a look at what is happening right now in Wisconsin. Progressives and unions are doing everything they can to make sure that Walker loses. It's a microcosm to what is happening around the country, and Glenn thought it was so important that he recapped it on tonight's show (in under three minutes!):

EXCLUSIVE -- McConnell: 'Radical, Dangerous' Obama Admin Seeks to 'Shut Up' Opponents
Tomorrow, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will speak at American Enterprise Institute, where he is scheduled to talk about anti-First Amendment intimidation by the Obama Administration and by the political left associated with it. Sen. McConnell has long been one of the most ardent advocates of the First Amendment on Capitol Hill, standing firm against the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act sponsored by Senators John McCain and Russ Feingold, among other violations of First Amendment freedom of political speech.
Breitbart News spoke with Sen. McConnell in anticipation of his speech. He called the Obama Administration's record on the First Amendment "terrible."
"This is a dangerous, radical administration," said McConnell.

Weekly Enewsletter: An Executive Order You Should Know About
Mar 30, 2012
Dear Friend,
With all that is going in Washington these days some things don't make the news the way they should. Fourteen days ago President Obama issued an Executive Order that you should know about. This order gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy - in the name of national security - in times of national emergency.
This means all of our water resources, construction services and materials (steel, concrete, etc.), our civil transportation system, food and health resources, our energy supplies including oil and natural gas - even farm equipment - can be taken over by the President and his cabinet secretaries. The Government can also draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill "labor requirements" for the purposes of "national defense." There is not even any Congressional oversight, only briefings are required.
By issuing this as an Executive Order the President puts the federal government above the law, which, in a democracy, is never supposed to happen.

Latest Executive Order
President Obama has just issued an Executive Order dealing with Immigration. What I ask of you is to ignore the actual immigration issue and take a hard look at the process.
Just bear with me. In college I was, at one point, a political science major that often had to examine root causes for major political changes. Adolf Hitler was elected to his office but was restricted on what he could or could not do under the Weimer Republic. He did not like that and took advantage of Article 38 of the Weimer Republic's constitution. Adolf Hitler became an absolute dictator and the German people lost their right to manage their own affairs. To most of our fellow citizens, the result is "ancient" history.
Or is it? As Article 38 was the weakness of the Weimer Republic, so are the Executive Orders to our Republic. What the President has done is to undermine the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Constitution of the United States of America. He has made the Congress, one of three branches of our Republic, obsolete. He is seizing power. He has taken the first steps as a dictator and, if left unchecked, opened the door for absolute dictatorial power.
This is scary stuff.

MoveOn.org just sent out an email advising all their followers to call Governor Scott, because "We have just 24 hours to make sure Governor Rick Scott stops his all-out assault on Florida's Latino voters." Now, not only will Governor Scott's email inbox be full of MoveOn generated emails, his phone will be ringing off the wall with callers telling him to abandon his efforts and allow Florida's rolls to remain bloated beyond recognition.
The Department of Justice has ORDERED Florida NOT to remove non-citizens from the state's voter rolls. Yes, you read that right - and you can read more sordid details here and here. Florida's Governor, Secretary of State, and Local Supervisors of Elections are now facing enormous pressure from the Federal government, so it is incredibly important that they hear from citizens across the country, encouraging them to stand strong.
We're asking you to join us, and patriot groups across Florida, as we work together to FLOOD the GOV with emails of support!
Every day this week, please send a short email to Florida's Governor and Secretary of State, in support of Free and Fair elections. When you write - tell personal stories. If you have witnessed voter fraud or seen issues in the polls, write about it. If you believe maintaining accurate voter rolls should be a priority, let them know. Always be cordial and polite - remember the media will be watching.
Because of Florida's "sunshine laws" on transparency, all elected officials' emails are public documents, so the MEDIA monitors these emails. Yes, the same media folk who are busily spinning a false narrative about Florida, demonizing them for daring to uphold election integrity and trying to sway public opinion against the state. These spinsters are closely monitoring the Governor's emails, along with the emails of the Secretary of State and Supervisors of Elections, to guage public response is. Special interests and vote fraud deniers will be out in droves; we need to FLOOD the GOVernment with emails that offset the deluge of email being sent by these groups. The State of Florida must respond to the Department of Justice by tomorrow. Time is of the essence. If you believe having 180,000 non-citizens on Florida's voter rolls is unacceptable, then take 5 minutes to both email and call Governor Scott and let him know you stand with Florida, in their effort to uphold election integrity.
Our goal is for thousands of emails to reach the inboxes of Governor Scott and Secretary Detzner, supporting Florida and encouraging them to stand strong against the Feds. Fellow patriots, there is a battle raging over our electoral process and the sanctity of our vote; the victor wins our country. Do not sit on the sidelines. Please email and call Governor Scott now.
FLOOD THE GOVernment -- send emails every day -- do not remain silent! If our elections are not truly fair, we are not truly free....

Breakfast with Tom Smith -
GOP Candidate for U.S. Senate
Monday, June 25

|
|
Tom Smith's background is a common one in Pennsylvania and across the country, but one that is all too rare in the United States Senate-which may explain a great deal about how our country came to this point in our history.
Tom still lives on the farm in Armstrong County where he grew up. After graduating from Elderton High School in 1965, he postponed college to help his father tend that farm and supplemented his income by driving a school bus. Before too long, Tom had married his high school sweetheart, Saundy, started a family, and went to work in a local surface coal mine.
In 1989, Tom entered the coal business himself, mortgaging everything he had in the hope that he could build a better life for himself and his family. He succeeded, building a series of companies in a highly regulated industry through some tough economic times. When he sold the companies in 2010, they were mining more than a million tons of coal a year and employed over one-hundred people.

Sen. Marco Rubio Live
Dom Giordano welcomes
Senator Marco Rubio (R - FL)
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 7-8:30 PM Location: National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
"Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up." (Marco Rubio)
There are very few politicians that have risen to national prominence as quickly as Marco Rubio. At age forty-one there is huge interest in and speculation about his political future. Will he be tapped by Mitt Romney to be his running mate? Will he run for President in 2016?
His story is detailed in his new book 'An American Son." Rubio is the son of parents who fled Cuba in the 1950's. Using the work ethic and tenacity instilled in him by his parents and grandfather, Rubio earned a law degree. As a young attorney he ran for the West Miami City Commission, a role that led to the Florida House of Representatives. In just six years he rose to Speaker of the House and became a leading advocate for free enterprise, better schools, limited government, and a fairer, simpler tax system. He found that he could connect with people across party lines while still upholding conservative values.
His U.S. Senate campaign started as an extreme long shot againstFlorida's popular incumbent governor, Charlie Crist. Rubio traveled the state with his message of empowerment and optimism. He upset Crist in both the primary and a dramatic three-way general election, after Crist quit the GOP to run as an independent.
Now Rubio speaks on the national stage about the challenges we face and the better future that's possible if we return to our founding principles. As he puts it , "Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up."
In that vision, as in his family's story, Rubio proves that the American Dream is still alive for those who pursue it.
Tickets are $25.00 and include a hard cover copy of his brand new book 'An American Son."

Let's get together and talk about our next steps as we get ready to take out Barack Obama and Bob Casey this Fall! After a very well attended Get Out The Vote training day in Bucks County in early June, we are now ready to put into practice all the tools we learned from FreedomWorks.
We all came together back in 2009 because we were outraged by the election of Barack Obama, the passage of Obamacare and the direction of our country financially and ideologically. The time has come, perhaps our last chance to truly make a stance, for us to unite and work to defeat the progressive agenda which has already infiltrated us so deeply. The first step towards a big win in November starts now! So, we, at The Kitchen Table Patriots, urge you to come out to make a difference, we can plug you in where you are needed.
This is where you can make a difference that really matters!

While plans for school vouchers remain mired in the General Assembly, some lawmakers are supporting a new idea to help kids in failing schools. Rep. Jim Christiana, R-Beaver, is introducing a bill that would create a $100 million tax credit program aimed at children in poor-performing schools. The bill to create the new Educational Improvement Scholarship Credit will be introduced today in the House of Representatives. The program would try to build on the state's $75 million Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. That program grants tax credit to companies that donate to preschool and K-12 scholarships to students or to innovative public education programs. Tax credits for this program typically are spoken for in a matter of days after they become available. The new tax credit program would be limited to companies donating to organizations that provide scholarships to students in the state's worst-performing schools. In Christiana's plan as well as the existing EITC program, businesses donating to scholarship organizations could cut their state taxes by up to 90 cents on every dollar donated to education. The goal of Christiana's plan is to generate enough money to provide an escape for 30,000 low- and middle-income students in failing public schools. His plan would provide scholarships of up to $8,500 for a regular education student and up to $15,000 for a special-needs student. "I think it is a very attractive program to those that want to help these kids get out of the violent underperforming schools," Christiana said. Support for a new education tax credit is evolving among House Republican leaders. "I think it's definitely something we should do," said House Majority Whip Stan Saylor, R-York.
Privatization of Liquor Stores
The time has come, once and for all, to give Pennsylvanians the freedom to choose their own wine and spirits -- without the government's monopoly of mediocrity. Government in the booze business has always been a lose business. Let's give our legislators a final push to let them know the time is now to get government out of the booze business! Currently, this issue is stalled in the House of Representatives so your phone calls, emails and faxes can have a positive effect in getting this to a vote before the Legislators leave Harrisburg for the Summer.

By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.
Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.
It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents. The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.
We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs. Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012. |

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!
In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
- We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
- We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
- We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
- We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.
We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!
Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.
The time to speak out for Israel is now! Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

Tonight, Sunday June 3rd, CUFI Founder and Chairman, Pastor John Hagee, will be announcing an exciting new CUFI initiative. You can click here to watch it live at 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific). This link will not be live until 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific) tonight.
Tonight, Pastor Hagee will be announcing the creation of the Israel Defense Fund. This emergency fund will enable CUFI to meet the major challenges we anticipate in the coming months.
CUFI has accomplished great things for Israel. But the times in which we live demand that we do even more -- and do so now!
We need to do more to defend Israel in the public square and in the media. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to purchase more pro-Israel billboards across America as well as full-page newspaper ads as circumstances demand.
We need to do more to defend Israel on our college campuses. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to train even more students and hold even more pro-Israel events on campuses across the country.
We need to do more to defend Israel before our leaders. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to be more active than ever in educating our nation's leaders about the justice of Israel's cause.
Even if you can't watch the broadcast, don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of the Israel Defense Fund! Click here now to contribute.
We will not be silent. Together, we will do more than ever to stand up and speak up for Israel.
May God Bless You and Those that You Love, David Brog Executive Director CUFI

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

The 2012 Elections: The Constitution Must Win!, IV
On June 12, 2012, the U. S. Senate demonstrated one of the most powerful reasons why Constitutionalist candidates must prevail in the November elections if the Constitution and the country are to survive and thrive as they have in the past. On that day, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Andrew David Hurwitz to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The tally was taken by voice vote, protecting Republicans, whose party supposedly stands for constitutionalist principles, from public disclosure of their very anti-constitutionalist support of this nomination. Indeed, one of Hurwitz's champions in the Senate Judiciary Committee had been Republican Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, Hurwitz's home state. Such nominations give true constitutionalists ample reason to fight for constitutionalist candidates in the current campaigns.
This nomination was so dangerous that, in a rare act, 49 members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a June 11 letter to the Senate, urging Senate rejection of Hurwitz. The Congressmen noted that in addition to his radical pro-abortion views, Hurwitz has consistently demonstrated a radical activism/Reconstructionism: "Acting as a pro-bono attorney, Mr. Hurwitz suggested that the Supreme Court change the wording of the Constitution in order to arrive at a ruling based on his beliefs, not on the rule of law." Senators were also vigorously lobbied by pro-life and other constitutionalist groups attempting to unmask the "real Hurwitz" for his extremist views on abortion and the judicial role.

How Taxmageddon Will Impact You
"I've said that this is a make-or-break moment for the middle class, and I believe it," President Obama told an Ohio crowd yesterday. Indeed it is-because in a sluggish economy, American taxpayers are about to be clobbered by the largest tax increase in history. Starting January 1, 2013, Americans will face a $494 billion tax increase, the highest ever in one year. According to The Washington Post, congressional aides started calling it "Taxmageddon"-a chilling reference fit for an apocalyptic nightmare. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has warned that it will be a "massive fiscal cliff" for the economy. How will this affect you? Heritage has a new Taxmageddon page that shows the impact of these tax hikes on individuals. It includes an interactive map where you can click on your state to see what the average tax increase will be, based on the average income of taxpayers in your state. Heritage research shows that families will see an average tax increase of $4,138. Baby boomers' average increase will be $4,223, and low-income taxpayers can expect a $1,207 increase. Millennials will be hit with an average hike of $1,099, and retirees $857. Check out the infographic to see where you fall. Taxmageddon falls primarily on middle- and low-income Americans. That's because, contrary to the President's rhetoric about "the wealthiest Americans," 60 percent of the Bush tax cuts went to middle- and low-income taxpayers. The expiration of the patch on the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) will cause these taxpayers to pay a tax that was never supposed to hit them, and the expiration of the payroll tax cut is a tax hike almost exclusively on middle- and low-income families. This is only the direct impact on individual taxpayers. Americans at all income levels will feel the pain of Taxmageddon, because it will slow job creation and wage growth. At 8.2 percent unemployment, it's the last thing the economy needs. Where are these tax increases coming from? Under current law, tax policies in seven different categories will expire, and just five of the 18 new tax hikes from Obamacare will begin. About a third of Taxmageddon's increase comes from the expiration of the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts. These cuts are best known for reducing marginal income tax rates, but they also reduced the marriage penalty, increased the Child Tax Credit and the adoption credit, and increased tax breaks for education costs and dependent care costs. What is the President doing to prevent this? Congress and President Obama have developed a penchant for waiting until the very last minute to act on pressing tax legislation. In 2010, they waited until late December to extend the expiring Bush tax cuts for two years. At the end of 2011, they waited again until late December to extend the expiring payroll tax holiday. This is a bad habit. The threat of Taxmageddon is clouding jobs and family finances now. Businesses, families, and investors are uncertain about the future. They need to know as soon as possible that this massive tax increase will not hit them on New Year's Day 2013. But yesterday, Obama told the crowd he was their economic savior: "I have approved fewer regulations in the first three years of my presidency than my Republican predecessor did in his." He also warned that Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle class, adding, "This is not spin. This is not my opinion. These are facts." The fact is that during his first three years in office, the Obama Administration unleashed 106 new major regulations that increased regulatory burdens by more than $46 billion annually, five times the amount imposed by the George W. Bush Administration during its first three years. Hundreds more costly new regulations are in the pipeline, many of which stem from the Dodd-Frank financial regulation and Obamacare. Conveniently, of course, many of Obamacare's main provisions-including tax increases-don't kick in until 2014. And as for the threat of raising taxes on the middle class, the President needs look no further than the laws that are already in place. If he really wants to prevent a cataclysmic tax increase on working Americans, preventing Taxmageddon is the answer. These are facts.

Victory Center" on Facebook
-Gabriel Malor
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on. RedState Morning Briefing
For June 18, 2012
1. We've Reached the Penultimate Jimmy Carter Moment of the Obama Presidency
Chris Cillizza made me laugh out loud last evening when I read his column, which opens with a question: "Is it possible for a president - any president - to succeed in the modern world of politics?"
There is nothing new under the sun, including this question.
On January 19, 2010, I wrote about the ungovernability of the American Republic. At that time, Barack Obama lamented the filibuster was making the nation ungovernable. Liberal commentators were up in arms over how ungovernable the nation was.
Liberal blogger Andrew Sullivan noted at the time, "[I]f America cannot grapple with its deep and real problems after electing a new president with two majorities, then America's problems are too great for Americans to tackle."
The fact of the matter is, the last time liberals and traditional media sources were asking the question, they were asking it while Jimmy Carter was President. It was the penultimate moment of the Carter Presidency when, breaking out of the echo chamber, liberals in the media began to openly ponder the ungovernability of the American Republic and whether the Presidency was too big for one man.
Turns out the Republic was just fine. It wasn't that the Presidency was too big for one man. It was that the particular occupant of the office was too small for the job. When Reagan became President, the question was rendered moot.
2. The White House Is Not Enough Consider this Wall Street Journal editorial your must read of the day. It highlights why adding conservatives to the United States Senate is so important. This past week, Republican in the Senate, including Mitch McConnell's leadership picks, sat idly by saying nothing while the Senate Democrats pushed forward the nomination of Andrew Hurwitz, who helped formulate the reasoning behind Roe v. Wade while a law clerk. Hurwitz is quite fond of that bit of his legacy. Andrew Hurwitz's nomination could have been blocked from consideration had just one more Republican voted no. 3. Congratulations to President Obama on his 100th round of golf Yesterday, President Obama completed his 98th (documented) round of golf. Obama is working hard, at least at playing golf. In less than three-and-a-half years he has played 100 rounds of golf. Just nine months into the Obama presidency the New York Post reported that Obama surpassed former President George W. Bush on the number of days spent on the golf course when Obama played a round of golf for the 24th time in his presidency - a milestone it took Bush almost three years to reach. Bush gave up golf in 2003 saying "I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal." That's a position Obama obviously rejects. 4. Obama Seeks to Nullify our Immigration Laws King Barack Hussein Kardashian Obama thinks that he gets to invent laws where they don't exists and disregard the ones that are already on the books. In yet another demonstration of contempt for the rule of law and the separation of powers, the Obama administration has announced that it will no longer enforce our immigration laws (not that he's been enforcing them until now). The Washington Times broke the story this morning about a secret memo from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that establishes new policies advising agents to release some illegals caught crossing the border. The new policy will encourage agents to suspend deportation proceedings and grant amnesty to those who ostensibly fit the criteria of the Dream Act - a bill that was defeated with overwhelming bipartisan support of Congress. Hence, the administration is publicly declaring that federal agents will ensure our laws are not executed faithfully. 5. James Lovelock, Father of Gaia Theory, Endorses Natural Gas Fracking James Lovelock, now 92 years of age, is the father of Gaia theory, the idea that Mother Earth is a sort of sentient, self-regulating organism. So it was noteworthy a few weeks back when he walked back some of his predictions of our planet's impending doom from Global Warming. In an interview with the Guardian, Lovelock embraces fracking for natural gas, scorns renewables and castigates the Germans for shutting down their nukes in favor of lignite, a low-grade coal, for electricity generation.

Quote liberal hero Karl Marx:
"There is only one way to kill capitalism-by taxes, taxes, and more taxes."
Sing the praises of Wal-Mart, a great American success story.
Liberals hate Wal-Mart because it puts local Momand Pop concerns out of business, ruthlessly cuts costs, and is driven by profit. Well no kidding! Why do you think its annual revenues-$500 billion-exceed the GDP of all but 18 of the world's 181 countries? Because people (liberals too) like to shop there. If they didn't, it would go out of business. That's how economics works! Oh, I forgot, you're a liberal, you don't understand that.

A friend and I took a drive out to Prairie Chapel to see what was going on. Who is the White House Mole? Jun 14, 2012 10:10 pm There has been a series of leaks of classified information from the White House in an effort to portray President Obama as a tough American foreign policy leader, but no official has resigned from the administration or the Obama campaign in disgrace or protest. This suggests the betrayal of state secrets is being condoned or ignored at the highest levels. Not surprisingly, Eric Holder's Department of Justice is resisting the appointment of a special or outside counsel to probe the scandal. House Members Seek National Security Answers from Inspectors General Jun 14, 2012 08:55 pm Today, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) and Congressmen Trent Franks (AZ-02), Louie Gohmert (TX-01), Tom Rooney (FL-16) and Lynn Westmoreland (GA-03) sent letters to the Inspectors General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State. These letters seek answers about the U.S. government's involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that calls for "civilization jihad." Congressional Leaders Call for Investigations of Muslim Brotherhood Penetration of the Obama ... Jun 14, 2012 08:50 pm Washington, DC, June 14, 2012: Five influential Members of Congress called yesterday for the inspectors general (IGs) of government departments with national security responsibilities to investigate whether their agencies are being subjected to influence operations mounted as part of what the Muslim Brotherhood calls its "civilization jihad." This initiative holds out hope that a grave, and largely unremarked, threat may thus be recognized and thwarted in time. Israel's Strategic Reality Jun 14, 2012 03:41 pm A nuclear Iran is going to create a dramatic change in the region. The first lesson certain leaders learned from the Arab Spring is to get nuclear capability and become immune to outside pressure. They consider Gaddafi to have made a big mistake when he gave up his nuclear program. No one would have dared to use force in dealing with him. No one would have dared to use force against Saddam Hussein in 1991 or 2003 if he would have had a nuclear capability. Obama's Classified Leaks Are Probably Not Prosecutable Jun 14, 2012 11:16 am In my post over the weekend about the folly of pushing for a special prosecutor on the Obama administration's intelligence leaks to the New York Times, I argued that holding the president politically accountable is far more important than indicting the leakers; therefore, Congress should do its job and shine intense light on this scandal rather than abdicate to a criminal investigation - ultimately supervised by Obama and his attorney general - which would simply bury it. Among the points I made was that the criminal case is probably a loser anyway: Obama To Take US Into A Proxy War with Russia Jun 14, 2012 10:46 am Maybe its me. Maybe I'm just getting old. But it seems to me that the current occupant of the Oval Office is trying to cussed hard to show his "warrior" colors. It seems every time we turn around these days there is another report on how Obama is killing US enemies. There is something just plain unseemly about all the media attention focused on the Commander-in-Chief's war fighting activities. Terminate the Racket of College Loans Jun 14, 2012 10:37 am One of the ways to cut the big-spending binge engaged in by the federal government is to terminate the racket of college loans. It's counterproductive, discriminatory, and a bad investment for both taxpayers and students. College-loan debt has soared to nearly a trillion dollars, more than credit-card debt or auto-loan debt. Financial commentators are beginning to compare college-loan debt to the housing bubble that nearly brought down the banking system in 2008. The American Sovereignty Campaign is a Front for Environmentalists Jun 14, 2012 10:29 am A stealth effort is underway to convince conservatives the United Nations Law of the Sea treaty is needed to protect the very thing the Reagan Administration believed it wouldn't-American sovereignty. 'Dark Angel' and the Mexican Meth Connection Jun 14, 2012 10:22 am In a U.S. operation dubbed "Dark Angel," local and federal law enforcement officers on May 30 arrested 20 individuals involved in methamphetamine trafficking across five states. Authorities confirmed that the leader of the trafficking network, Armando Mendoza-Haro, has links to Mexico, where the methamphetamine was likely produced. Spain, Debt and Sovereignty Jun 14, 2012 10:17 am Eurozone countries on June 9 agreed to lend Spain up to 100 billion euros ($125 billion) to stabilize the Spanish banking system. Because the bailout dealt with Spain's financial sector directly rather than involving the country's sovereign debt, Madrid did not face the kind of demands for more onerous austerity measures in exchange for the loan that have led to political instability in countries such as Greece. Trend #3: Corporate Tax Reductions Jun 14, 2012 10:09 am Japan's corporate tax rate reduction on April 1, 2012 left America with the highest corporate income tax rate in the industrialized world.[1] Effective taxes are also high by international standards.[2] Because state corporate income taxes are levied in addition to this high federal tax, state tax systems are not competitive internationally even if the state system by itself is reasonable. Every state corporate income tax, when combined with the federal corporate income tax, is higher than France, Germany, the UK, and other countries.[3] Eric Holder's Corrupt Agenda Jun 14, 2012 09:59 am On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it was filing a lawsuit against Florida over the state's push to clean its voter roles of dead and foreign voters. The move comes on the heels of Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, scheduling a vote by his panel on June 20th aimed at holding U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over documents in the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal. David Littman: In Memoriam Jun 14, 2012 09:22 am Although several months has passed, we bring to memory the life of David Littman as written by Henrik R. Dear ITAI MEMBERS AND DONORS:
ITAI ON THE MOVE...ITAI's Charles Kahn Jr. and Joseph Puder co-sponsored a letter to Presidential candidate Governor Mitt Romney together with Sherkoh Abbas, President of the Kurdistan National Assembly of Syria, and a member of the ITAI Advisory Board. The full text of the letter will be featured under a separate cover. The letter deals with the situation in Syria and the dangerous choices between the Assad dictatorship and a Muslim Brotherhood takeover. Both pose a threat to Israel, to the religious and ethnic minorities in Syria and to all the cherished freedoms Americans believe in. The third choice and the right choice for the U.S. is to support a Syrian Democratic Coalition, which is secular, pro-western, and peaceful towards Israel and shares our American values. U.S. Generals Paul Vallely and Ernie Audino are also co-sponsors of the letter.
THIS ITAI WEEKLY MIDDLE EAST REPORT comes on the eve of Russian president Vladimir Putin's state visit to Israel. Reflecting on Russian-Israeli Relations is our story for this issue.
REFLECTING ON RUSSIAN-ISRAELI RELATIONS By: Joseph Puder Later this month, Russian president Vladimir Putin is scheduled to make a state visit to Israel. It will be Putin's second visit since 2005 (Obama should take notice). Putin, who began his third term as President of Russia last month, served as Prime Minister in the intervening years. In Israel, Putin will be meeting with his counterpart Shimon Peres, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Putin's trip comes amidst the controversial role Russia is playing in the civil war currently unfolding in Syria. His support for the Assad regime diplomatically and militarily, in providing it with attack helicopters and other heavy arms which the regime has used to butcher civilians including women and children, and Russia's obstruction of any attempt in the UN to condemn the Syrian regime, is antagonizing western powers. Syria, however, remains Russia's only ally in the Middle East and, provides Moscow with a naval base in the Mediterranean. And, Russia, like Israel and some other western powers are concerned that an Islamist regime will replace Assad. Putin's current thinking is that the U.S. and its western allies will not act militarily against the Assad regime, and that the regime will eventually quell the rebellion. Russia is therefore unwilling to risk its comfortable position with the Assad regime (with Syria as a major arms purchaser and Russian banks holding more than $6B in Syrian assets); unless it appears that the Free Syrian Army has the upper hand in the apparent civil war. Russia, however, finds itself on the opposite side of Israel and the U.S. on the issue of Iran's nuclear program and has undermined western attempts to force Iran to give up its nuclear weapons program. Russia built/ sold Iran the nuclear facility known as Bushehr. Russia's relations with Iran is characterized by the rivalry between a pro-western group, which advocates the benefits of cooperation with the U.S. as opposed to questionable partners as China, Iran, and other unsavory third world states; and the old Russian Defense Industrial Complex (OPK), which promote the traditional strategic and economic ties with China, India, Iran, Syria, and North Korea. Iran's Press TV reported on June 8, 2012 that the "Secretary General of Iran's Supreme Council Saeed Jalili says the promotion of strategic relations between Tehran and Moscow will serve the interests of the regional nations." Jalili added, "The strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow has the potential to align the balance of power with the interests of regional nations. Iran-Russia constructive interaction will result in regional stability and security." These comments were made during a meeting between Jalili and the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
At the same time, Russia appears to have shelved its plans to sell Iran S-300 ground-to-air missiles on the grounds that such a sale is forbidden under the UN sanctions ruling. Back in July 24, 2010, a BBC report suggested that Saudi Arabia had offered to buy $2 billion worth of Russian weapons on condition that Russia does not sell Iran the S-300 missiles and would stop supporting Iran at the UN. While Russia is a major supplier of arms and nuclear technologies to Arab nations and Iran, it has a growing security relationship with Israel which includes the purchasing by the Russian military of Israeli-made spy drones/unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's). With more than one million Russian speaking Israelis, Putin considers Israel a Russian speaking state. In an interview with Euro-Asian Jewish Congress in July 2011, Putin stated, "Israel is, in fact, a special state to us. It is practically a Russian-speaking country. Israel is one of the few foreign countries that can be called Russian-speaking. It's obvious that more than half of the population speaks Russian." One of the stated reasons for Putin's visit is to attend the unveiling ceremony of a memorial in Netanya in honor of the Red Army soldiers killed during World War Two. Commenting on the occasion of the 20-year (which commenced in October 1991) renewal of relations with Russia, Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said, "Renewal of diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia twenty years ago was an important historic event that impacted on the connection between the countries and peoples and on Israel's history, bringing more than a million new immigrants from the former countries of the USSR to Israel. Since then, the relations between the states have expanded, and I am convinced that cooperation in all areas will only grow stronger." The Moldova native Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman and Russian President Vladimir Putin share a common language - Russian. This no doubt has helped forge a closer relationship between the two countries. Ironically, while the U.S. is Israel's closest ally and friend, U.S. President Barack Obama is not considered friendly by most Israelis; conversely, Russia, while not considered a friendly state, its president, Vladimir Putin is regarded by many in Israel as a friend. Visiting Russia during the controversial elections to the legislative (Duma) elections last December, Avigdor Liberman stated that "The elections were absolutely fair, free and democratic." Taken as an endorsement of Putin, this statement cemented the warm relationship between the two. The relationship between the two states is founded on the realization that over a million Israeli Jews (and non-Jews) from the former Soviet Union live in Israel and have kept their traditions and heritage alive during the past two decades. The Russian speaking community in Israel holds a wide variety of positions of influence in Israeli society. They have integrated well into Israeli economic, scientific and cultural life, and hence form a vital bridge between the two states by promoting closer ties. The bilateral relations, however, are secondary to the wider strategic interests of the two states in the Middle East region. Radical Islam, as a by-product of the "Arab Spring" poses a threat to both Russia and Israel. Russia is concerned that the "Arab Spring" may influence and radicalize its own Muslim population. Israel is challenged by the victories of the Muslim Brotherhood in several Arab states and especially in Egypt. And, Jordan as well might succumb to the Muslim Brotherhood triumph. These realities coupled with the Pro-Islamist policies of Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan present another set of challenges for both Russia and Israel. In light of these circumstances in the Middle East, Russia considers Israel a potential asset in its efforts to deal with its economic, political, strategic, and security challenges. Israel is regarded as a strong regional power that might help Russia regain parity with the U.S. in the region. For Israel, moving Russia away from its enemies - Iran, and Syria - would greatly enhance Israel's security. Putin's visit to Israel comes amid a realignment of forces in the Middle East, with Russia willing to reassess its foreign policy in order to meet emerging political challenges. Under these circumstances, it is reasonable to assume that Russia is willing to strengthen cooperation with Israel in a bid to promote its national interests. Considering the threat posed to both countries by the rise of Islamism, a Russian-Israeli partnership has the potential to benefit both countries. Moreover, in view of the rapidly changing balance of power in the Middle East, this alliance could potentially stabilize an unstable region during a time of great uncertainty. Prime Minister Netanyahu will no doubt weighing the possibility of a second Obama term as he meets with Putin, and that prospect alone would call for a more solid relationship with Russia .

Eating the State
In Gotham, Michael the First, King of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and the rebellious province of Staten Island, has returned from celebrating his successful campaign against large sodas, to consider expanding the ban to large popcorn and milkshakes. Los Angeles has voted to ban the plastic bag and add a 10 cent fine for paper bags. Where does the future of the Nanny State lead? In Sweden, the Left Party is calling for men to be banned from urinating standing up. And why not? If the government should have a say in what food you eat and what you carry the groceries you buy in, why not have it complete the cycle and tell you how to eliminate them? We have laws that strictly control every aspect of the production, packaging, distribution and sale of food. From there we moved on to laws controlling the consumption and consumer transportation of it. Once every step in the process from planting the seed in the earth to actually putting it in your mouth has been legislated and regulated; all that's left is a government mandated bathroom experience. Liberals like to claim that they don't believe the government should be in your bedroom. Apparently, they believe that it should be in your bathroom instead. Not to mention in your kitchen and digging through your trash like raccoons on steroids. The Left Party's rationale for playing bathroom police, is the same one put forward by Bloomberg's soda police and the same one that was used to take complete control of food production. Health. "Party speakers cited medical research they said shows men empty their bladders more efficiently while seated. Improved bladder evacuation reduces the risk for prostate problems, according to the party." Twenty years after the fall of the Soviet Union, the formerly free world is being treated to Party lectures on the proper way to use the bathroom. There may even be a little red book with the words of some Socialist leader to inspire us to properly go about our day in harmony with the will of the Party, whose enlightened wisdom informs every moment of our lives. It's a short hop and skip from the government deciding to fight heart attacks by banning sodas to fighting prostate cancer by banning urination. When government controls health care, it also has complete authority over every aspect of your life. The old public health crises were infectious diseases. The new public health crisis is absolutely everything. And the authorities are in crisis mode all the time fighting wars on a hundred fronts against the habits of the human race.

WHACK The Arab Spring, the Tahrir Square, the entire works boiled down to a choice between a military dictatorship and the Muslim Brotherhood. Those of us who actually understood the region warned that this would happen, warned people not to listen to the Arab Springers or the Twitter activists and not to agonize over the latest riot casualties. We said the Neo-conservatives were wrong. We said the democracy promoters were full of hot air. We said that anyone claiming that the United States could not hold back "democratic change" was an idiot without a clue about the region. Now it looks like the whole glorious circus is about to end with a limited military dictatorship pushing the reset button back to where it was before, but without Mubarak. And that's a best case scenario. It means that things are still worse than they were before. The economic liberalization that Mubarak's son might have carried out is gone. The Muslim Brotherhood has gained a lot of momentum. Any hope of political reforms has been foreclosed, because Egypt is now stuck between its military and the Muslim Brotherhood. Anyone who advocates reform is choosing the Brotherhood. The one thing we should take away from this, is that the entire history of the last two years, every news article, from the glowing celebrations of the people's revolution to the rise of the Brotherhood to the dissolution of the new reforms, should be printed up, rolled up into a newspaper and used to whack anyone who calls for "democratic change" in Egypt, or any relatively stable Muslim country that isn't openly at war with us, across the nose. Hard. Keep whacking them across the nose until they reread the entire history of their disaster and learn something from it. Oh and Syria, all the people telling you that intervening to overthrow Assad and replace him with the Muslim Brotherhood would be a terrible idea... they're right too. But why listen to us, when you can listen to Thomas Friedman and John McCain ?"There's always, 'We don't know who they are.' I'll tell you who they are. They're a direct repudiation of Al Qaeda," McCain said three weeks ago. "Al Qaeda believes in acts of terror to change governments. These people believe in peaceful demonstration." Sure, go with it. What's the worst that could happen? I don't want to bash the people on my side. I don't want to get into article wars or blog wars with them because it's unproductive, but the people pushing for arming the Syrian Jihadists are being wildly irresponsible. And they're pushing Romney into siding with their disastrous policy. There is absolutely no political profit in hitting Obama from the neo-conservative side on Syria. The American people don't want another war and when Obama does something on Syria, they will only look like idiots for complaining that he wasn't doing anything. There is no choice between a secular moderate national regime and a dictatorship. There is a choice between a dictatorship and Islamists. Choose one or the other, but don't pretend that there's a third option on the table. Not unless you can show us where that option has taken root. Syria is not our war. There is nothing to gain from it. ...one of the few mainstream conservative commentators who gets it; is Andy McCarthy who has been pressing this issue over and over again warning against misguided intervention on behalf of rebel Jihadists. Why did the U.S. exclude Israel from the new counterterrorism forum?
By Josh Rogin
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
Last week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton traveled to Istanbul to convene a new worldwide forum of countries to share info and help integrate efforts to fight terrorism -- but Israel wasn't invited.
In her opening remarks at the June 7 forum, Clinton framed the terrorism challenge as a common world cause and emphasized the need to build up civilian institutions, coordinate anti-terror efforts, and establish a unified, long-term strategy for fighting terrorist groups' ideology and their sources of funding.
"We view this forum as a key vehicle for galvanizing action on these fronts and for driving a comprehensive, strategic approach to counterterrorism," Clinton said, standing alongside Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davotoglu. The United States and Turkey are the co-chairs of the initiative, known astheGlobal Counterterrorism Forum.
Although Clinton mentioned that terrorism is a challenge in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mali, Somalia, Yemen, Nigeria, the Maghreb, Turkey, and Europe, she didn't mention Israel or any of the groups that support terrorist attacks against Israeli interests, such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

'Olmert bombed Syria despite US diplomacy'
By HERB KEINON 14/06/2012
In exclusive with 'Post', former US foreign policy advisor Elliott Abrams defends Netanyahu over critical State Comptroller report.
- Former prime minister Ehud Olmert decided in September 2007 to bomb the al-Kabir nuclear facility in Syria after then-president George W. Bush told him the U.S. had opted for the diplomatic route and was trying to get the International Atomic Energy Agency to close the site, Elliott Abrams, who at the time was deputy national security advisor in the White House, told the Jerusalem Post on Thursday. Abrams said Bush was provided with impeccable options, policy papers and intelligence. "We took it all to the president - covert options, military options, diplomatic options - and he chose the wrong option," said Abrams.
-
He said that his preferred option was for Israel to take out the facility in order for Jerusalem to rebuild its deterrence following the Second Lebanon War a year earlier. He added that then-vice president Dick Cheney argued for the U.S. to bomb the facility itself to rebuild America's deterrence and demonstrate America's seriousness concerning nonproliferation.
-
When Bush informed Olmert of the U.S. decision in July 2007, Abrams recalled, Olmert said the strategy was unacceptable to Israel. It was clear that from this point on there would be no sharing of plans and that "Israel would let us know afterward," he said. (Jerusalem Post)

Kindergarten Graduation In Gaza
Posted: 15 Jun 2012 12:12 PM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
One might expect that a graduation ceremony from kindergarten would be a cheerful event, if a school bothered to put one on at all. Not so in Gaza, apparently. A teacher at the school pictured below said:
In every year's kindergarten graduation ceremonies we focus on the children to represent the role of struggling and resistance in the way of Allah, in order to establish this path, and grow up to love the resistance, and for it to have a prominent role in their lives to serve the cause of Palestine and Holy Jihad, as well as to make them leaders and fighters to defend the holy soil of Palestine.
The kids get into the spirit of the occasion:
One child, Hamza, wearing the uniform of the Al Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad and carrying a wooden weapon, said "I love the resistance and the martyrs and Palestine, and I want to blow up the most Zionists in a process of martyrdom and kill them."
Here are some photos from the event.
What kindergarten event would be complete without coffins?
Here a boy dressed as an Israeli soldier pretends to torture a Palestinian:
There are lots more photos at this jihadist web site. These kids appear to have jailed some Israelis:
Here you can see the kids' parents enjoying the event:
The girls carry weapons, too:
The words "cycle of violence" are often used in connection with the Middle East, usually in a way that is inapt. Here, however, I think we are indeed seeing the beginning of another cycle.
A candidate with no message; a campaign with no slogan Posted: 15 Jun 2012 11:02 AM PDT (Paul Mirengoff) Earlier this week, I noted that President Obama's claim that the Romney campaign can be reduced to an underlength tweet is rooted in his frustration that he lacks a crisp statement of why he should be re-elected. Howard Dean apparently sees it the same way. Speaking on MSNBC, Dean declared that Obama "needs to condense his economic message to three or four words, and then repeat them every single day between now and the election." The problem, of course, is that no brief, plausible economic message is available to Team Obama. The president needed an hour on the subject last night, and still couldn't get it done. The ever helpful Tabula Rasa at Ricochet offers Obama a few possibilities: We're in a Ditch-But it's Fair We Fixed the Economy-Next the Climate Yes! We Can Be Like France
Small President, Small Man Posted: 15 Jun 2012 09:23 AM PDT (John Hinderaker) President Obama's penchant for blaming everyone but himself for his administration's failures (pre-eminently George W. Bush, of course) has made him something of a laughingstock. He has, of course, a serious problem: his record is too poor for him to talk about it, and he has no plans for his second term other than more of the same. So he defaults to the blame game. Michael Ramirez contrasts Obama's small-mindedness with some of his predecessors:
This video from American Crossroads sounds a similar theme. It is titled "Wah Wahhh":
 | American Crossroads: "Wah Wahhh" | And Byron York notes that Obama seems to have forgotten his first year in the White House. Obama badly needs to turn his campaign around, and no doubt there will be brighter days ahead for him. Still, hard as he may try, he can't run away from his record.
Egypt on the brink Posted: 15 Jun 2012 08:20 AM PDT (Paul Mirengoff)
The most important news of today, I believe, is the decision by Egypt's highest court that the country's newly elected parliament must be dissolved. The court, made up of Mubarak appointees, found that one-third of the new parliament's members were elected unlawfully. Talk about judicial activism. In anticipation of the ruling, the Egyptian military council imposed martial law. This gave military and intelligence officers the right to detain civilians. According to Michael Rubin, about 80 percent of the members of the now-dissolved Egyptian parliament are Islamists. Thus, the latest developments should be understood, I think, as a statement by the military that it will not accept a democracy in which Islamists dominate. It no doubt hopes that, in view of this statement, Egyptians will recoil from such a democracy. If they do, the democracy project can proceed, albeit in an impure fashion. The short-term success (or lack thereof) of the military's ploy can be measured by the outcome of this weekend's presidential run-off election between the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi and former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq. In addition to its ruling regarding parliament, the court ruled that Shafiq will remain on the ballot because a law barring former members of Mubarak's government is unconstitutional. I hope that the marker laid down by the military will re-route Egyptian democracy away from Islamist control. However, I am not confident that it will. And even if it does, this may not be the end of the matter. Islamist clerics and their followers seem to be as determined as the military to see Egyptian "democracy" follow a pre-determined course. Indeed, though the military ultimately may be bluffing, the Islamists almost certainly are not. Thus, Egypt could be heading for a bloody civil war. The Nomination Game, Part 1 Posted: 15 Jun 2012 05:05 AM PDT (Steven Hayward) As Paul and I have both argued here the last few days, the notion, currently popular with liberals and their media echo chamber and careless talkers like Jeb Bush, that Ronald Reagan couldn't be nominated today (while Mitt Romney can??) is fatuous nonsense. But I wonder, why isn't this turned around? There are at least three Democratic presidents of memory who couldn't get the Democratic nomination today, and still one more, Lyndon Johnson, who actually didn't. (Is there any doubt that the Democratic Party was on its way to turfing LBJ out in 1968 when he decided to withdraw?) Let's make this a new series. Read More . . .

Italy: Don't Look Now, But . . .
Posted: 16 Jun 2012 12:45 PM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
Oh goody. While everyone awaits tomorrow's vote in Greece, and struggles to find out whether the recent fillip to Spain's banks will work, there's this squib in today's Barron's:
Italy is moving into the crisis cross-hairs. That development has chilled any euphoria over the recent Spanish bailout package. Italy hasn't yet taken international assistance, but its debt-to-GDP ratio stands at 120%. The euro's end game is Italy, says Ed Altman, a finance professor at New York University. Italy is "too big to save," says Altman, who fears the euro will survive only if Italy avoids a bailout.
Meanwhile, for an explanation of how the "euro doomsday machine" would work in the event the Greeks vote to kill the euro, see this article from PuffHo business.
I'm off to the store to buy more canned goods.

Our politics are "lacking," Obama whines
Posted: 16 Jun 2012 10:53 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
In his weekly radio address, President Obama stated: "Every problem we face is within our power to solve; what's lacking is our politics." In Obama's view, our politics are lacking because Congress hasn't agreed to all aspects of a job bill he introduced. It's a curious view of politics that measures success by the willingness of the opposition to capitulate to the full program of a president whom the American people don't trust on the economy.
Obama noted that Republicans want to wait until after the November electiions to tackle the problem of the economy. If Republicans believed that Obama's program has merit, it would be deplorable to wait for elections to pass it. But Republicans are opposed to his program on policy and philosophic grounds. Thus, they are hardly playing "politics" by not supporting it. Obama cynically equates legitimate policy disagreements with bad faith. He might just as well have declared a state of "national malaise."
Obama also claimed that Republicans "haven't lifted a finger" for job creation. This is nonsense. As Erika Johnsen at Hot Air points out, House Republicans, the only ones with the power to "lift a finger," have pushed an agenda that conservatives believe would jump start the economy and thereby produce jobs. It includes reducing the tax and regulatory burden on businesses, promoting free trade, maximizing the production of domestic energy, and substantially reducing federal spending in order to control the deficit.
Democrats don't believe in these policies and thus do not support them. This doesn't mean they are playing "politics" and neither does Republican opposition to Obama's prescription for job creation approach - the expansion of government, in essence.
But Obama has played politics of the most irreponsible kind. He has done so by proposing budgets so ridiculous that they failed to gain a single vote. Obama did so because he wanted House Republicans to make the first serious budget cutting proposal. And he wanted Republicans to do so, so that Democrats could shoot at the cuts, mainly by trying to scare old people.
This is politics in the bad sense. In fact, it is an abdication of Obama's responsibility as president. The president's job is less about opining on confrontations with the police in Cambridge, Massachusetts or making pretty speeches around the world, and more about presenting a responsible proposal about how the government will spend money and how it will address a debt problem that threatens the national well-being and security.
The president's failure to perform this duty should disqualify him from accusing otherwise of playing politics. It should also disqualify him from serious consideration for another term in the office he is abusing.

Euro 2012 - Poland vs. The Czech Republic, a preview
Posted: 16 Jun 2012 10:04 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
Today's clash between Poland and the Czech Republic will probably determine which side advances to the next round - the final eight. Poland needs a win to make it.
Poland will probably seek victory by attacking down the right flank where two of its three best players (fullback Piszczek and midfielder Blaszczykowski) reside. The latter has been one of the very best players in the tournament so far. Poland's other big star (forward Lewandowski) often drifts to the right side, as well. All three play for German champions Borussia Dortmund, so they work beautifully together.
Meanwhile, the Czechs have been vulnerable to attacks from the right. In their opening match, a 1-4 defeat by Russia, left back Kadlec was repeatedly exposed. In the second match, he moved to central defense. His replacement, Limbersky did okay but that was against Greece.
Whoever plays left back today will need help from Pilar on the left side of the Czech midfield. Pilar has been the best player Czech player so far, but that's based on his attacking skill. He has yet to display much quality in defense. But at least the threat Pilar poses may cause Piszcek, the Polish right back, to feel somewhat constrained from joining the attack.
In any event, much of the action should be on that side of the field.
UPDATE: Czech Republic 1, Greece 0. Man of the match: Pilar (no questions about his defensive quality now). Flop of the match: Piszczek.
There was plenty of action on the Polish right side/Greek left side. But after the first fifteen minutes, it was the Czech's who were finding joy. Oddly, the tide turned after Limberski picked up a yellow card. With Poland having already created several scoring opportunities, that should have been the signal for even more Polish attacks down the right flank. Instead, Blaszczykowski starting popping up elsewhere, and seeing less of the ball when was on the right. At that point, the momentum swung to the Czechs. As Taylor Twellman said on ESPN, the match turned after Blaszczykowski stopped receiving the ball "early and often."
Meanwhile, Greece stunned Russia 1-0, in a highly improbable victory, and claims a spot in the second round, along with the Czechs. They don't call this "the group of life" for nothing.
Russia had 69 percent of possession and outshot Greece 31-8. As Buster Roth might say, that's one lucky set of Greeks.
From a football perspective, I'm sad to see Russia out of the tournament. But from my political perspective, it's a happy result.
If form holds in Group B tomorrow, Greece will play Germany next, in a match-up (some would say a mismatch) of banker and debtor.

Anthropogenic Global Warming: Wrong Again
Posted: 16 Jun 2012 07:56 AM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
A scientific hypothesis is tested by its predictive powers. Scientists reason: if this theory is correct, then X should be the case. They test for X; if they find X to be true, it tends to confirm the theory. If X is not the case, the theory is disproved. Some of a theory's implications may relate to the future, and thus can only be tested over time. The anthropogenic global warming theory has been with us for quite a while now-I first learned about it circa 1970-so how have its predictions fared over time?
We have written a number of times about James Hansen, one of the leading global warming alarmists. In 1988, he authored one of the most influential alarmist papers, titled "Global climate change, according to the prediction of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies." Hansen and his colleagues modeled the global temperature impact of varying levels of future CO2 emissions. This chart, from Watts Up With That, summarizes Hansen's 1988 predictions, compared with actually observed temperatures. Briefly, Hansen's prediction was off by 150%.
This is the explanation of the lines on the chart:
Figure 1: Temperature forecast Hansen's group from the year 1988. The various scenarios are 1.5% CO 2 increase (blue), constant increase in CO 2 emissions (green) and stagnant CO 2 emissions (red). In reality, the increase in CO 2 emissions by as much as 2.5%, which would correspond to the scenario above the blue curve. The black curve is the ultimate real-measured temperature (rolling 5-year average). Hansen's model overestimates the temperature by 1.9 ° C, which is a whopping 150% wrong.
While global warming alarmists cloak themselves in the mantle of science, the truth is that there is nothing scientific about their enterprise. The models that are the sole basis for global warming alarmism have been proved conclusively to be wrong. That really is all that needs to be said about the matter. The fact that alarmists and their supporters in the media and in politics continue to try to foist discredited theories onto the public shows that their real interest is not science, but politics and power.

The Weekly Winston: Great Contemporaries Edition
Posted: 16 Jun 2012 07:07 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
This week's Churchill installment is a special edition, celebrating the publication-literally just Wednesday of this week from the printer-of a new edition of Great Contemporaries, the book that might otherwise be called "Churchill's Brief Lives" like the namesake Aubrey.
This new edition is not just any old reprinting, and even if you already have a copy of Great Contemporaries, you'll want to buy this one anyway for a very important reason: it's a James Muller-produced version, published by our friends at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI). Jim is a professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and unquestionably ranks among the three or four most knowledgeable people about Churchill in the United States and perhaps the globe. (In fact, I'd say he's almost savant-like: ask him any Churchill question, and he can discourse off the top of his head for a half hour.) Jim doesn't just clean up typos and slap on new cover art when he revises a Churchill book. He fully annotates the text, giving loads of extra information about obscure details in an essay, and even includes in appendices how Churchill often revised the essays that went into the book from the original that first appeared in newspapers or magazines mostly in the middle years of the 1930s. (His changes to his famous essay on Hitler in Great Contemporaries, made at the behest of the Foreign Office in 1937, are fascinating and revealing.) And as a final bonus, in addition to the frequently recalled sketches of political figures such as FDR, Roseberry, Hitler, and Kaiser Wilhelm, Muller has included five Churchill biographical essays that did not appear in previous editions, including sketches of Charlie Chaplin and Kipling. Think of it as a "director's cut" of Churchill.
The only question is not where to start with a sampling, but where and how to stop. There's only one thing to do. Buy yourself a copy of this edition, and enjoy. Meanwhile, here's the magnificent opening paragraph of Churchill's essay on Trotsky:
When the usurper and tyrant is reduced to literary controversy, when the Communist instead of bombs produces effusions for the capitalist Press, when the refugee War Lord fights his battles over again, and the discharged executioner becomes chatty and garrulous at his fireside, we may rejoice in the signs that better days are come. I have before me an article that Leon Trotsky alias Bronstein has recently contributed to John o' London's Weekly in which he deals with my descriptions of Lenin, with the Allied intervention in Russia, with Lord Birkenhead and other suggestive topics. He has written this aricle from his exile in Turkey while supplicating England, France, and Germany to admit him to the civilizations it has been-and still is-the object of his life to destroy. Russia-his own Red Russia-the Russia he had framed and fashioned to his heart's desire regardless of suffering to others or hazard to himself-has cast him out. All his scheming, all his daring, all his writing, all his harangues, all his atrocities, all his achievements, have led only to this-that another 'comrade,' his subordinate in revolutionary rank, his inferior in wit, though not perhaps in crime, rules in his stead, while he, the once triumphant Trotsky whose frown meted death to thousands, sits disconsolate-a skin of malice stranded for a time on the shores of the Black Sea and now washed up in the Gulf of Mexico.
I especially like the phrase "a skin of malice."
I should add that Jim has also produced one of his supercharged ISI editions of Churchill's essay collection Thoughts and Adventures, which you should buy for the same reason.

The End Justifies the Means By Mark Krikorian June 15, 2012
The White House decision to enact the DREAM Act through executive fiat is a lawless act. This isn't even about immigration; it's about the Constitution. I have repeatedly written that something like DREAM has much to recommend it, though it would need to be very different from the current iteration, which has been voted down in Congress several times. I understand that Senator Marco Rubio has finally put together a final version of his alternative bill and that Senators Kyl and Hutchison have signed on - from my discussions with his staff, I probably won't like what he's come up with, but unless there are typos in my version of Article I of the Constitution, that's the way lawmaking is supposed work. For all the administration's pious denials that this measure "confers no substantive right" and "only the Congress, acting through its legislative authority, can confer these rights", they're lying. The illegal immigrants in question will receive two-year renewable permits to live legally in the United States and an Employment Authorization Document - that, in plain terms, is what we call "amnesty".
Any DREAM Act supporter who applauds this measure has forfeited any right to complain about future usurpation of the Constitution. Even backers of DREAM in Congress have a responsibility to deny funding to DHS to carry out this policy.

Are We in Revolutionary Times?
By Victor Davis Hanson June 15, 2012
Legally, President Obama has reiterated the principle that he can pick and choose which U.S. laws he wishes to enforce (see his decision to reverse the order of the Chrysler creditors, his decision not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, and his administration's contempt for national-security confidentiality and Senate and House subpoenas to the attorney general). If one individual can decide to exempt nearly a million residents from the law - when he most certainly could not get the law amended or repealed through proper legislative or judicial action - then what can he not do? Obama is turning out to be the most subversive chief executive in terms of eroding U.S. law since Richard Nixon. Read more:

If We Took the Constitution Seriously, Obama Would Be Impeached
Michael Filozof
If the citizens of this Republic still took the Constitution seriously, Obama would be impeached for his decision to unilaterally grant amnesty to certain illegal aliens.
Article 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution, which enumerates the power of Congress, states that "Congress shall have the Power To... establish an [sic] uniform Rule of Naturalization." Congress has passed numerous laws pertaining to immigration and naturalization, including laws requiring the deportation of illegals.
The role of the President, according to Article II, Sec. 3, is to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." Obama's refusal to execute Congress's immigration laws (or, for that matter, Congress's Defense of Marriage Act) is an impeachable offense. Article II, Sec. 4 states that the President "shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for... Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors." The deliberate failure to enforce valid immigration law and allow hordes of foreigners to live and work in the U.S. is, arguably, "treason," and doing so in an election year to appease Hispanic voters could certainly be considered "bribery."
In theory, Obama could exercise his power in Article II, Sec 2. to "grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States" and offer a blanket pardon for all violators of immigration law. He's not doing that, because he'd certainly lose in November if he did. (However we should be concerned that if he does lose in November, he'll do it anyway on his last day in office).
The upshot of Obama's policy not only to allow hundreds of thousands of illegals to live and work in the U.S. during a time of 8 to 10% unemployment, but even worse, since the vast number of illegals we're talking about are Hispanics eligible for affirmative-action preferences, to actually get preferential treatment over native-born Americans.

Bloomberg to OWS: Congress caused the mortgage crisis, not the banks
November 1, 2011 by Ed Morrissey
By this time, everyone should be aware of the federal policies that precipitated the housing bubble and its collapse - the push by Congress and two administrations to push higher-risk lending in order to expand home ownership, as well as the effort by Congress to get Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to spread that risk through mortgage-backed securities. While Wall Street made the situation worse by developing risky derivatives on those securities and failed to recognize the risk inherent in the securities themselves, the collapse wouldn't have occurred at all had the federal government not intervened to distort lending for their own social-engineering goals.
Michael Bloomberg tried to explain that to Occupy Wall Street protesters this morning, and pointed out the contradiction between their protests and their demands:
"I hear your complaints," Bloomberg said. "Some of them are totally unfounded. It was not the banks that created the mortgage crisis. It was, plain and simple, Congress who forced everybody to go and give mortgages to people who were on the cusp. Now, I'm not saying I'm sure that was terrible policy, because a lot of those people who got homes still have them and they wouldn't gave gotten them without that.

Friday, June 15, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 144 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Click here to listen now. The Dictator-In-Chief? Barack Obama announced today that he is imposing a new policy that will end deportations for younger illegal immigrants brought here before they were 16. They will be allowed to remain in the country and receive work permits provided they have no criminal record and have completed high school, earned a GED or served in the military. Some conservatives will denounce this plan as a likely first step toward amnesty. Others will think it is equitable. In fact, the Associated Press reports that Obama's plan "tracks closely to a proposal offered by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida." But here's the bigger issue in my view: Are we a nation of laws or does one man now have the power to ignore Congress and dictate his own policies? Obama may not like our immigration laws, but he is not free to ignore them or rewrite them. That power rests with the legislative branch, not the executive branch. Obama's Bad Speech Yesterday Barack Obama delivered a speech in Ohio that had been hyped as a major economic address. Obama's fawning admirers in the liberal media were eagerly awaiting to hear what pearls of wisdom the "One" would utter to smite the evil robber baron of Bain Capital. Unfortunately for them, just as he has done throughout the past three and a half years, Obama failed to live up to the hype. The media were not happy:
- MSNBC's Mike O'Brien: "In terms of politics, this speech could have ended about 20 minutes ago."
- MSNBC's Jonathan Alter: "One of the worst speeches I've ever heard Barack Obama make."
- Yahoo News correspondent Olivier Knox tweeted: "I ask colleague for CQ transcript of Obama speech. Response: 'Sure, but it looks like they only have the first 45,000 words.'"
- John Hayward of Human Events: "This Obama speech is so long-winded it might be the first attempt to filibuster an election."
- Buzzfeed's Zeke Miller: "There is nothing new in this speech."
- Washington Post's Dana Milbank: "I had high hopes for President Obama's speech on the economy. But instead of ... a compelling plan for the future, the president gave Americans a falsehood wrapped in a fallacy."
A Bad Week For Obama? As we reported yesterday, the economic news has been discouraging. And while it clearly has implications for the November election, I'm getting a little tired listening to the left-wing talk heads whining about how each down data point is making life harder for Barack Obama. It isn't about him! If anyone had a bad week, it was the 386,000 people who filed for jobless benefits, not Obama. If anyone had a bad week, it was the small business owner who saw sales decline for the second month in a row, not Obama. If anyone had a bad week, it was the homeowner struggling to sell their house as foreclosures rise, not Obama. If anyone had a bad week, it was average family who learned that its net worth fell by nearly 40%, not Obama. If anyone had a bad week, it was the hard-working American taxpayer who learned that for the fourth year in a row, Obama has racked up another trillion-dollar plus deficit. The Culture War On June 1st, President Obama issued a proclamation declaring June "Gay Pride Month." Various federal departments will host events throughout the month recognizing their homosexual employees. For the first time ever the Pentagon will host its own "Gay Pride" events this month, "just as it has marked other celebrations honoring racial or ethnic groups." But there's a big problem with that statement -- homosexuals aren't just another "racial or ethnic group." They define themselves based on their private bedroom behavior. Why should that be a cause for celebration? When do we celebrate "Straight Pride Month"? Should the government applaud other personal preferences too, like "Swingers Pride Month"? This is all just left-wing politically correct nonsense that divides rather than unites us as Americans. Unfortunately, the Pentagon is caving in to the radical secularists in more ways than one. Since 2003, the B&H Publishing company, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, has published the Soldier's Bible, Sailor's Bible, Marine's Bible and Airman's Bible with the service emblem of the specific branch prominently featured on the cover. But an atheist foundation sued after some service members "witnessed the Bibles being conspicuously featured on military exchange shelves and storefronts across the globe." As a result, the Pentagon has revoked its permission for the B&H Company to print Bibles using the service emblems. "Gay Pride" is in, and the military service Bibles are out. Yet one more example of Obama's assault on our traditional values. Elections have consequences, my friends. We can't afford four more years of this nightmare!

Is Gun Control a Human Right? By AWR Hawkins
In China -- where the natural right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is vanished by a one-child policy that forces women to abort every child after their first one -- accusations are now being levied that America violates the human rights of its citizens by allowing private gun ownership. That's right -- China contends that private gun ownership is a violation of human rights.

Will Romney go the sheepish way of John McCain?
Jun 17, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins
by George Spelvin, staff writer
Will Romney go the way of loser John McCain who was so polite he refused to let supporters go after Obama's alleged lack of Natural Born Citizenship status as required by Article II, Section 1 of our Constitution? Talk show host Michael Savage certainly thinks that's what is going on! Romney is taking a position similar to that which McCain's advisors talked him into in his failed 2008 challenge to Barack Obama, that being an absolute refusal to call out a president who cannot, will not produce authentic documents average citizens need to just get a drivers' license.
Savage said Romney is being run off the rails by the same bad advice McCain was given. "Advisors . . . want him to lose," Savage told his listeners this week. "The Establishment wants Romney to lose." In the false axiom to provide fairness, the elites who control both parties want the ... Continue Reading:Will Romney go the sheepish way of John McCain?

Election winners prevented from taking office by order of corrupt Town Council

by Doug Book, staff writer
In what has become one of the most corrupt small towns in the United States, the new Mayor-elect and the winner of a seat on the Town Council were prevented by that Council from assuming their newly won offices. On May 15th, Ed Foster won the municipal election for Mayor of Quartzsite, Arizona and Mark Orgeron won a seat on the Town Council. But at its next meeting, the Council refused to seat either of the two winners. Foster was told he could not be Mayor because he still owed the City of Quartzsite court-ordered attorney's fees from a prior suit against the town. And although Orgeron teaches at the local school and has lived in Quartzsite 5 days each week since 2009, the Council claimed he was not a "legal" resident of the town as he still owns a home in Yuma. The Legend of Robin Hood speaks of Richard the Lionheart, so named for his courage in leading the Third Crusade in 1190AD to win back Jerusalem from the Muslims. Jerusalem had been taken from Byzantine Christian and Jewish inhabitants by Caliph Umar's bloody siege in 638AD. Though he did not retake Jerusalem, Richard made a truce with Saladin in 1192 AD for safe passage of religious pilgrims. When approximately 15,000 inhabitants of Jerusalem could not afford ransom, Saladin sold them into slavery. On Richard's return trip to England, he was captured by rival Duke Leopold of Austria, and spent three years in prison. Legend has it Richard's loyal minstrel, Blondel, traveled from kingdom to kingdom, singing Richard's favorite song and heard Richard sing the second verse from the prison tower. Freed by an enormous "king's ransom," Richard returned to England and took back the throne from his brother John. Five years later ... Continue Reading:American Minute June 15

Alabama shows the way; tells the UN's Agenda 21 Storm troopers to get lost Jun 15, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins By Kevin "Coach" Collins Any ideas the United Nations had about taking over the State of Alabama are gone. Many provisions of the current farm bill will expire at the end of September. It is estimated to have cost Americans $284 billion over the last five years.
Most programs in the farm bill were established during the Depression-era and have not changed as our agricultural landscape has changed. Through various farm subsidies, the burden of agricultural risk is placed on taxpayers.
Heritage Foundation policy expert Diane Katz says "Americans are taking a double hit: Tax revenues are used to subsidize producers, and production limits raise the cost of products."
|
The number of farms has dramatically changed, decreasing from a peak of 6.8 million in 1935 to 2.2 million in 2010. During that same period, however, the amount of land in farms declined by less than 13 percent. Taken together, the two trends reflect fewer, but larger, farms. Indeed, the number of farms with more than 1,000 acres increased by 14 percent between 1982 and 2002. In the same period, farms with 50 to 1,000 acres declined by about 17 percent.
|
| |
These trends are important to note because they directly affect agriculture policy. Because the distribution of subsidies is largely influenced by the volume of farm production, larger farms are receiving a larger proportion of the payouts.
The current farm bill legislation also distorts the food market, artificially inflating food prices by limiting the quantity farmers are legally able to produce.
There is no doubt that farmers face risks in their jobs, but there is no such thing as zero risk in entrepreneurial ventures. "To the extent that Congress artificially shields some farmers from the reality of their occupation, they are more likely to take bigger risks running their farms," Katz argues.
Overall, the farm bill burdens taxpayers, increases the cost of food, and keeps farmers from producing to their potential. Read more of Katz's ideas on how Congress should address the farm bill.
Do you think the programs in the farm bill should have been updated during the last 79 years?
Allan Clark has never questioned the importance of hard work and effort. Allan and his seven siblings grew up in southern California on his single mother's salary. He recalls patching his shoes with playing cards and duct tape when money was tight.
Never taking things for granted, Allan began working full-time at a construction company driving forklifts and was quickly promoted to yard manager due to his hard work and diligence. At 19 years old, Allan saved up enough money to purchase his first house, a very counter-cultural act for a California teenager in the 70s.
Growing up with a distant father, Allan made fatherhood a priority in his own life. After marrying his wife, Silvana, they knew their lives were too good not to share with just each another. Allan and Silvana were active volunteers with local foster homes, volunteering their time to be a positive role model for children with less than perfect pasts. After seeing firsthand the frustration and bureaucracy of the foster system, Allan and his wife adopted an eight-year-old girl who had an abusive past. Allan dove into fatherhood, choosing a career as a school bus trainer so he could have the summers off, never missing his daughter's dance recitals, school plays or softball games.
Heritage research has shown that adolescents with strong relationships with their fathers have more positive psychological, behavioral and educational outcomes. Having a father present also drastically decreases the chance of an adolescent to be delinquent, and/or abuse drugs or alcohol. Allan knew the implications and took the responsibility of fatherhood seriously.
Read more about Allan's story and tell us in the comments how your father has made an impact on your life.

Feulner explained the bus tour's goal to reach every American in an effort to reinvigorate traditional conservative American principles. So far, the bus has helped spread conservative values to 66 cities in 22 states in 6 months.
Hannity asked Dr. Feulner about his new book, The American Spirit, which examines what makes Americans exceptional. Feulner believes it is a combination of patriotism, freedom, individualism, and individual responsibility that makes the American spirit indomitable. Listen to the full interview here.

Heritage scholar Steve Groves plans to testified Thursday at Senate hearings on the treaty and explained why it would undermine American sovereignty and security.

'Titanic II: It'll Be Different This Time'
A second term for Obama would be a bad sequel
"The Democrats are saying something like this: 'We found a big hole that we did not dig. ... Give us two more years. If it doesn't work, vote us out.'" That's what Bill Clinton said about the economy -- in 2010. There's plenty of blame to go around for that hole, of course, but it's worth remembering that Democrats took control of both houses of Congress -- and the purse strings -- almost a year before the recession started. And we can't think of a better argument for voting Democrats out than how they bound and gagged the economy for the last five years.
One of Clinton's most trusted strategists, James "It's the Economy, Stupid" Carville, is painfully aware that the languishing economy doesn't bode well for Democrats in November, and he's advising Obama to quit talking about his record -- a strategy he says is "wrong" and "will fail" -- and focus on the future instead. Carville wrote, along with fellow strategists Stanley Greenberg and Erica Seifert, "We will face an impossible headwind in November if we do not move to a new narrative, one that contextualizes the recovery but, more importantly, focuses on what we will do to make a better future for the middle class." In other words, it's like the sequel to "Titanic," and the ship will sink all over again.
Barack Obama isn't listening to Carville, though. He gave a 54-minute speech yesterday at an Ohio community college -- ironically, the same place Clinton made his remarks two years ago -- in an attempt to "reframe" the issue. "Rerun" might be a better word because there was nothing new offered, no deviation from the bigger-government-fixes-everything template, and it was full of the usual mix of self-congratulation and blame for everyone else. In fact, we think we've heard it 54 times before.
Obama blamed the "policies of the last decade" for the bad economy, while arguing that Mitt Romney would gut education, science and green energy programs, as well as "end [Medicare] as we know it." Arguing that he needs four more years because of George W. Bush is less than convincing, though as he reminded us last Friday, "the private sector is doing fine."
He then whined that Romney's campaign will go negative: "The other side will spend over a billion dollars on ads that tell you the economy is bad, that it's all my fault ... that I can't fix it because I think government is always the answer or because I didn't make a lot of money in the private sector and don't understand it or because I'm in over my head or because I think everything and everybody is doing just fine."
"No, I don't believe that government is the answer to all our problems," Obama joked -- at least we assume he had to be joking -- before turning around and saying of his "investments" of taxpayer money, "The private sector can't do it alone." In fact, he says, government investment is necessary to help "the next Thomas Edison, the next Wright brothers." Also laughably, he hammered the Bush tax cuts and alleged deregulation in general, only to later tout his own tax cuts and supposed deregulation.
All in all, the speech was a tired refrain of Obama's old standbys, class warfare and government solutions -- so much so that even a panel at MSNBC panned the speech. But Obama did offer one bit of wisdom: "This election is your chance to break [the] stalemate" between economic visions for the country. Indeed, it's time for a change.
What did you think of Obama's remarks?
The Obama Presidency in a Nutshell
"I think people are still hurting. I think the economy has not recovered, and it's not where it needs to be." --White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
On Cross-Examination
"Now you may have heard that President Obama is on the other side of the state and he is going to be delivering a speech on the economy. He's doing that because he hasn't delivered a recovery for the economy. And he's going to be a person of eloquence as he describes his plans for making the economy better but don't forget, he's been president for three and a half years. And talk is cheap. Action speaks very loud. ... What he says and what he does are not always the exact same thing." --Mitt Romney, just before Obama's speech
Hope 'n' Change: Collusion on ObamaCare
We have long known that the Obama administration pulled out all the stops, legal and otherwise, to make ObamaCare a reality, but recent evidence indicates a staggeringly high level of collusion between the White House and pharmaceutical companies in crafting the legislation. The House Energy and Commerce Committee is investigating the relationship between the Obama White House and the drug industry lobby, led by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). The committee's recent findings are the most glaring example of crony capitalism we have yet seen from this administration.
In 2009, when ObamaCare was coming together, drug makers eagerly stepped up to join the White House effort in order to protect their own interests from too much government regulation, and because they realized that the new entitlement might bring a wave of new customers their way. Emails from the drug makers and the White House show that the White House explicitly looked to Pfizer and other drug companies to provide financial and critical support for the bill, dangling promises of looser price controls and anti-re-importation provisions in exchange. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), then chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, took everything that PhRMA offered, and then pushed re-importation anyway. As part of the well-played skit, the White House stepped in, saved the drug companies from the re-importation provision, and PhRMA wrote a $150 million check for an advertising campaign that touted the virtues of ObamaCare to an increasingly skeptical public.
Democrats pretend to be the champions of the average American, but they had no problem cozying up to drug companies in order to get their own way. The drug companies in turn had no problem getting into bed with the White House if it meant bigger potential profits for them down the road.
Meanwhile, even if the Supreme Court strikes down ObamaCare, some of its provisions may live on with various insurance companies. UnitedHealth Group and other large insurers, for example, intend to keep the provision that allows families to keep their children on their plans up to age 26, and they will also maintain certain preventive measures with no out-of-pocket charges. On the other hand, they're unlikely to stick to the portion of the law that requires them to take all comers regardless of pre-existing conditions, and they will probably ditch the requirement that insurers spend at least 80 percent of premiums on health-related costs.
Campaign Trail: Fundraiser-in-Chief
Barack Obama hit six fundraisers Tuesday in Baltimore and Philadelphia -- tying the one-day record for fundraising events by a sitting president. The previous record, by the way, was held by ... wait for it ... Barack Obama. Obama has held a total of 160 fundraising events since officially kicking off his re-election campaign. To put that into perspective, by the same point in his first term, George W. Bush held 79 events.
On another campaign stop for barbecue, the president and his four guests left without paying the $55.58 bill. The White House did settle the tab before the end of the day, but the episode reminded us of a particular attack Obama made on Republicans. Rebutting their criticism of his deficit spending, he said it's "like somebody goes to the restaurant, orders a big steak dinner, martini, all that stuff and then just as you're sitting down, they leave and accuse you of running up the tab." Just as with his budgets, he ordered something he didn't pay for.
News From the Swamp: Federal Reserve Debt Holdings Skyrocket
Newly released numbers show that the Federal Reserve under Obama has become the largest shareholder in U.S. government debt. The Fed owned $302 billion in U.S. Treasury securities in January 2009. That portion rose an incredible 452 percent by April 2012, with the Fed now holding $1.67 trillion. In roughly the same time frame, China's share of U.S. government debt rose from $740 billion to $1.17 trillion, and Japan's share shot from $635 billion to just over $1 trillion. Together, these three entities possess 49 percent of all the new debt generated during Obama's term, in which total debt rose 50 percent from $10 trillion to $15 trillion.
Waters Investigation Continues
The ethics investigation against Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is back on track after it was determined that the House Ethics Committee did not violate her due process rights. Waters has been under investigation for three years for various alleged improprieties, including using her influence to intervene on behalf of a bank in which her husband owned stock. She has denied doing anything wrong, but instead of letting the facts speak for themselves, Waters has thrown every procedural hurdle she can to stall the investigation. Pending the outcome of the investigation, she is expected to become the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee when Barney Frank (MA) retires at the end of this term.
Holder's Turn of a Phrase
It's quite ironic that Attorney General Eric Holder, testifying at his ninth congressional hearing over the last 16 months regarding the gun-running Operation Fast and Furious, used the phrase "I stuck by my guns." We wouldn't call his obstinate attitude and -- at best -- grudging cooperation with the Fast and Furious probe a virtue. In fact, he's headed toward a contempt of Congress charge for the ongoing tug-of-war between Congress and his Justice Department over thousands of documents that may lead to a resolution of, among other things, the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry by illegal aliens toting guns from ATF's Fast and Furious operation. Audaciously, Holder calls the contempt vote a "constitutional crisis," though he offered a deal Thursday to release more documents.
If seeking justice is an effort to uncover the truth regarding a particular event, the Justice Department's continued dodging and weaving in this investigation suggests that justice is its last priority. Instead, it seems the only crisis in the DOJ is figuring out how to keep all the stories straight and the congressional wolves at bay.
For his part, Holder was hesitant to say where this will all lead, though he forcefully rejected a call from Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) to resign. "What my future holds, frankly, I'm just not sure," Holder responded when asked by Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) if he would consider another term if Barack Obama is re-elected. If Obama loses, one has to wonder if the term Holder will serve will be in a secured lockup.
Florida v DOJ Over Voter Purge
On Tuesday the state of Florida filed suit against the Department of Homeland Security in order to continue with Republican Gov. Rick Scott's plan to purge ineligible voters from the rolls. "I have a job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters," said Scott. "We've been asking for the Department of Homeland Security's database, SAVE, for months, and they haven't given it to us. So this afternoon, we will be filing a lawsuit, the secretary of state of Florida, against the Department of Homeland Security to give us that database. We want to have fair, honest elections in our state, and we have been put in a position that we have to sue the federal government to get this information."
Almost immediately after the Florida suit was filed, the Justice Department filed their own suit against Florida, claiming that the Sunshine State is violating Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act. Notably, DOJ dropped its allegations that Florida is violating the Voting Rights Act. Scott claims that the state has identified 100 non-U.S. citizens who were registered to vote, 50 of whom already cast illegal ballots in Florida elections. Apparently, the DOJ thinks that's just fine. After all, Florida will once again be a crucial swing state in the upcoming presidential election, and Barack Obama will need every vote he can muster, illegal or otherwise.
Economy
Income Redistribution: More Energy Handouts
The Obama Energy Department is "investing" another $54 million in various manufacturing ventures, supposedly to help them become more energy efficient. General Motors, everyone's favorite bailout recipient, will receive $2.7 million to "develop an integrated super-vacuum die casting process using a new magnesium alloy to achieve a 50% energy savings compared to the multi-piece, multi-step, stamping and joining process currently used to manufacture car doors." The Dow Chemical Company will receive $9 million for a carbon fiber production process, despite having spent $1.7 billion of its own money in research and development in 2010. Numerous other companies such as Delphi Automotive Systems, Third Wave Systems and PolyPlus Battery Company are receiving millions, as well.
The president claims that the "private sector can't do it alone." But as Heritage Foundation's Nicolas Loris writes, "Businesses do not need public investment to improve efficiency and cut costs; they make those investments regularly with their own money." Granted, $54 million is pocket change these days -- Solyndra alone received 10 times that much -- but it still represents unnecessary taxpayer "investment" that also happens to be unconstitutional.
Around the Nation: Corporations Aren't Hoarding Cash After All
The Federal Reserve issued a report this week on the amount of cash held by U.S. corporations, and it amounts to about half a trillion dollars less then previously thought. Non-financial corporations still hold $1.74 trillion in liquid assets, an unprecedented amount. But as The Wall Street Journal's Ben Casselman writes, "Perhaps more significant than the number itself, however, is how the revision affects the trend. Before the revision, the Fed showed corporations continuing to accumulate cash, with liquid assets rising nearly every quarter since the recession ended and reaching a record $2.2 trillion at the end of last year. Now, however, it appears corporate cash piles grew rapidly through 2009, then leveled off. Companies aren't spending their cash, but they aren't holding more of it, either."
The Fed's finding puts a significant dent in Barack Obama's claim that corporations are just "sitting on the sidelines" and refusing to invest in the economy.
Around the World: Spain Gets a Bailout
Following the euro zone's bailout of Greece, Ireland and Portugal, it's no wonder other countries want to get in on the dole. The latest case in point is Spain. Euro zone finance ministers pledged Madrid up to €100 billion (or $125 billion) to save foundering Spanish banks. This brings to nearly €500 billion that the European Union and the International Monetary Fund have committed to the continent's bailout frenzy.
As with any government handout, however, this latest bailout left some crying foul. Ireland, which in 2010 received an €85 billion bailout package wrought with attached strings, wants to renegotiate its deal. After all, why should Spain get more money with fewer strings? For its part, the Obama administration of course supports the bailout; Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner called it "important for the health of Spain's economy and as concrete steps on the path to financial union, which is vital to the resilience of the euro area." Italy is poised to be next in line, with Industry Minister Corrado Passera noting that things on the Italian economic front are better than last year but still serious.
In the bizarre logic of the left, as The Washington Post explains, "When world leaders take stock at a summit next week in Mexico, they'll face the discomforting fact that four years of crisis-fighting, trillions of dollars in government stimulus spending and a massive effort from the world's central banks have failed to produce the 'strong, sustainable and balanced' world economy they are striving to build. Is it time to open the cash spigot again?" Do we really have to ask that question?
Much more to the point: The U.S. is on track in the next five years to add three times as much debt as the euro zone will.
Share your thoughts on the euro zone's outlook.
Security
National Insecurity
Most U.S. presidents understood that campaign rules-of-engagement don't include leaking classified national security information. But of course, most presidents aren't The Chosen One. That seems to be the attitude behind a series of White House leaks apparently aimed at bolstering Barack Obama's "I'm strong on national security" image. Despite his presidential oath to the Constitution and to defend America against all enemies, the operative criterion here is whether the compromise will make Mr. Hope-&-Change look good this November.
What "highly secret information" was compromised, exactly? For starters, how about a "deep-black" U.S. cyberspook operation using a computer worm called "Stuxnet" to trash centrifuges and computers used in Iran's nuclear program? Obama proselytes at The New York Times ("All the news fit to print, classified or not") could hardly wait -- and, of course, didn't -- to publish details related to this special-access, über-sensitive program. But wait, there's more ... much more.
Other leaks include: The "Kill List" revelation that the president is personally involved with the selection process for targeting and assassinating terrorists; the selling-out of Dr. Shakil Afridi, the Pakistani doctor who helped locate Osama bin Laden through DNA testing in a CIA fake-polio vaccine campaign, leading to a 33-year sentence for high treason for the good doctor by "our ally" Pakistan; a thwarted underwear bomber plot -- a leak that threatened the lives of U.S.-friendly operatives working in covert operations abroad by exposing information that directly pointed to infiltrated terrorist groups in Yemen.
The list goes on -- the "Zero Dark Thirty" leak, the CIA's involvement in introducing faulty parts in Iran's nuclear-program-related systems, the White House-blessed exposé on the bin Laden takedown, etc. Unfortunately, an exhaustive list is impossible within this space. Suffice it to say that leaks within this administration have done more grave damage to U.S. national security than perhaps any since Julius Rosenberg turned over U.S. and British nuclear-bomb-building secrets to the Russians.
Don't look for an apology from the sorry lot of squatters occupying the Executive Branch, however. During the latest damage control session, Obama announced, "The idea that my White House would purposely release national security information is offensive." Note that he didn't say the White House didn't release highly classified national security secrets, nor that the accusation was untrue -- only that the "idea ... is offensive." Of course it's offensive -- accusations of treason often are. Here's a question for Mr. Offended, though: Is that "idea" any less offensive than the idea of putting American lives at risk for political gain?
Regarding the leaks themselves, only two options exist. Either: (1) the sources were legally authorized to leak the information, or (2) they were not. If the former were true, although a duly authorized person may release classified information, doing so would require the president's knowledge and approval. If the latter is true, then the leak source(s) must be investigated and prosecuted. This least-damaging approach seems to be the administration's preference.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has promised a thorough investigation of the leaks. Sadly, the fact that he is a known liar, at least regarding the "Fast and Furious" congressional probe, promises that his commitment to the pursuit of truth won't produce much. Ultimately, American voters will decide with whom they feel more comfortable guarding national secrets. To most Patriots, however, the answer is obvious.
Post your opinion on the security leaks.
Warfront With Jihadistan: Detention Suit Rejected
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to reconsider challenges by some "guests" of Guantanamo Bay against their years-long detention at the U.S. military base in Cuba. The High Court sided with the Obama regime by rejecting appeals by seven terrorists who had previously lost their bid for freedom in cases before U.S. federal judges in Washington, DC. The Supreme Court justices issued no statement with their order and there were no known dissenters.
In a 2008 decision, the Supreme Court said that Gitmo prisoners had a legal right to challenge the legality of their detention and seek release. In this latest appeal, attorneys for the terrorists challenged the admissibility and reliability of certain government evidence, including U.S. intelligence reports, and said that a U.S. appeals court had incorrectly ordered trial judges to use a standard that too easily accepted the government's evidence. They said the appeals court denied the terrorists what was at the heart of the Supreme Court's 2008 ruling: a meaningful review of the lawfulness of their imprisonment. The U.S. Justice Department fought the appeals and told the Supreme Court that sufficient evidence existed justifying that each detainee should remain in military detention. The Supreme Court agreed.
While any use of government's power of detention must be properly reviewed to ensure due process under the law, it's also important to remember who these detainees are: unlawful combatants, with no legal rights to due process any more than what they have received to date. Perhaps the most delicious irony to come out of these court cases was watching the Obama regime, which came to power promising to close Gitmo within one year, finally begin to realize that, yes, these are bad people who deserve indefinite detention.
Immigration Front: Executive Order
Barack Obama signed an executive order this morning that will halt the deportation of young illegal aliens. "The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military." Obama will discuss the new policy later today in the Rose Garden.
Department of Military Correctness: Military Bibles
"The U.S. Military has revoked its approval of a series of military-themed Bibles, reportedly over trademark issues," reports Todd Starnes of Fox News. "Now, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation is demanding that all remaining versions of the Bibles be removed from base exchanges -- calling them a 'threat to national security.'" The Bibles are published by B&H Publishing, which is a division of LifeWay Christian Resources, run by the Southern Baptist Convention. The Holman Christian Standard Bible is sold with the seals of the four branches of the military, with permission given in 2003. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation says that amounts to an official endorsement of religion by the U.S. military. The Bibles could be replaced by some that don't bear the seal on the cover.
Culture
Second Amendment: 'Stand Your Ground' Under Fire in Florida
In the wake of Trayvon Martin's death, the first of a series of public meetings regarding Florida's "stand your ground" law was held this week at a church near where Martin was shot. Republican Gov. Rick Scott created the task force responsible for organizing the meeting in response to the deafening public outcry over the Feb. 26 shooting.
Adding to the circus atmosphere was a rally organized by Martin's parents as well as a petition drive to either modify or repeal the law, which gives those who feel threatened the right to use deadly force without retreating. It's unclear whether the Martin case is an actual example of "stand your ground" based on its circumstances, and Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, who chairs the task force, was careful to say that the meeting wasn't specifically about the Martin shooting. It's a shame, however, that the right of self-defense could be subject to the whims of a political mob.
Meanwhile, two economics researchers from Texas A&M University made the claim that homicides were up during a four-year period from 2005 to 2009 in states that have laws similar to Florida's. But their data, which simply compiled the number of what were termed "justifiable homicides" in the 22 states that enforce a version of the castle doctrine, purposely ignores cases in which deaths actually saved lives.
Faith and Family: The Legitimization of Same-Sex Parenting
Over the last decade, America has witnessed a change in the family structure unlike any seen previously. While same-sex couples were once barred from adopting children, they're now championed in some quarters as a superior child-rearing arrangement. But Mark Regnerus, a sociology professor at the University of Texas at Austin, might have thrown a splash of cold water on that theory by doing some groundbreaking research on the outcome of young adults from age 18 to 39 whose parents spent at least a portion of their childhood in a same-sex relationship. Regnerus found some striking differences among the group in his New Family Structures Study -- character traits that included an increased risk of severe depression, a higher likelihood of unemployment or cheating on a spouse, increased marijuana usage and a negative perception of their childhood.
Regnerus concedes that many of these problems have less to do with parenting and more with the instability of the child's family situation. Similar results can also occur in single-parent families where one parent goes through a series of relationships over the time a child is raised. But the study comes at a time when same-sex marriage finally has presidential support and is under debate in a number of states. Regnerus' study just may make the case that what's best for the child is the old-fashioned nuclear family. It doesn't take a study to confirm common sense, but these days studies carry more weight.
Don't miss Mark Alexander's essay on Fatherhood.
Village Academic Curriculum: NYC School Bans Patriotic Song
One New York City school drew a line for appropriate music at its kindergarten graduation, and Lee Greenwood's classic, "God Bless the USA," didn't make the cut. Five classes spent several months learning the patriotic hit, but the school's principal interrupted a rehearsal to inform teachers that the song wouldn't be permitted. They said she told them, "We don't want to offend other cultures." A spokeswoman explained that the lyrics were "too grown up" for five-year-old kids. On the other hand, the principal initially had no problem allowing the kids to sing Justin Bieber's "Baby," which features the line, "Are we an item? Girl, quit playing." Totally age-appropriate. Bieber's tune was later scrapped, but sanity is still in short supply.
What do you think of this school's decision?
Bloomberg Doubles Down
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg remains under fire for his ludicrous proposed ban on large sugary drinks in the city. The city's Board of Health still must approve the proposal, though not only is that likely but some members are suggesting that the ban go further. One member thinks they should limit the size of popcorn sold at movie theaters, and another member suggests that maybe milkshakes are too much in the calorie department. For his part, Bloomberg insists he's not overstepping or creating a nanny state, but rather doing the fundamental job of government. He says, "If government's purpose isn't to improve the health and longevity of its citizens, I don't know what its purpose is." Such a view certainly doesn't square with the First Principles of our nation.

BREAKING NEWS: We just received word that Pres. Obama is announcing a gigantic amnesty today. I threw out the message I was preparing to email you and hurriedly wrote what you see below. READ CAREFULLY: It's critically important and contains several action items. --Jim
President Bypasses Congress, Violates U.S. Constitution; Amnesty Declared for Millions of Illegal Aliens!
Obama Decrees the Amnesty Congress Rejected.
For over a decade, NumbersUSA has fought every effort by Congress to pass an amnesty. We've fought against proposals by Presidents Bush and Obama. With your help, we've won every time.
Now, frustrated by that Congress has actually listened to voters, President Obama has decided to issue an amnesty, broader even than the DREAM Act, without the consent of Congress.
Today, Obama announced that he is suspending the deportation most illegal aliens under the age of 31-he states he will also give them work permits-permitting them to take U.S. jobs. These are jobs desperately sought by 20 million unemployed Americans and millions of graduating American youth.
But this declaration is more than a betrayal. It is a direct violation of the U.S. Constitution.
The Constitution gives law-making powers to Congress alone. All immigration policy powers are given to Congress alone. The President has no authority to give a de facto amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. And doing so right now, when 20 million Americans have no work, is a stab in the back to every American who can't find a job.
This is the most serious policy crisis we have faced in two years. If there was ever a time we need your financial help, it's NOW! You know that nobody fights harder than NumbersUSA. But without your financial help we can do nothing. So, please donate!
Next, only a massive outcry from the American people, including every single NumbersUSA member, can make the White House reverse course. So it's CRITICAL that you do the action items below immediately:

Obama Announces Amnesty for Hundreds of Thousands Today!
We need your help NOW to stop the Obama Administration's DREAM Act!
This morning, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it intends to ignore the Constitution, usurp Congressional authority, and administratively implement the DREAM Act. The announcement came through an official policy memo, signed by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, followed by a conference call led by Napolitano herself. According to this announcement, effective immediately, the Obama Administration will stop deporting illegal aliens who qualify for the DREAM Act by granting these illegal aliens "deferred action" and work authorization.
Deferred action status is what DHS grants when it decides, in its own discretion, not to remove an illegal alien. Those who receive deferred action usually also receive work authorization and DHS has confirmed that illegal aliens granted deferred action pursuant to the new policy memo (dated today, June 15, 2012) will be eligible for work authorization. There is no statutory basis for deferred action status, as it is merely referred to in the federal regulations (See, e.g. USCIS Ombudsman memo, Apr. 6, 2007 (citing 8 C.F.R. 274a.12(c)(14)). Even more troubling, deferred action is not subject to judicial review. (Reno v. American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Comm., 525 U.S. 471, 484, 492 (1999))
While this new policy is effective immediately, Secretary Napolitano has directed U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to create an application process that will be fully operational within 60 days. The DHS estimates that nearly 1 million illegal aliens will be given a reprieve through its new policy! (To read more details about the announcement, please see our website.)
FAIR is urging all of our members, activists, and friends to LOUDLY voice their objection to the Obama Administration's new policy. We need the Obama Administration to hear the voices of Americans across the country who believe in the rule of law, otherwise it will only hear kudos from the amnesty lobby.
Please call the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and your members of Congress and tell them:
- You believe in the rule of law; it is the bedrock of our great nation.
- You want an immigration system with integrity and our immigration laws enforced.
- Congress, not the Executive Branch, has sole authority to establish our immigration laws; it is the responsibility of the Executive Branch to enforce them.
- You object to rewarding illegal immigration through "deferred action" or any other executive maneuver.
- It not only undermines the rule of law, but only encourages more illegal immigration.
- It also is an act of shameless political pandering five months before the presidential election.
