Jihad's Willing Executioners

by Clare M. Lopez

Quietly, behind the scenes, the Muslim Brotherhood is enforcing censorship of all U.S. government training about Islam and the forces of Islamic jihad. Under the co-opted direction of National Security Council official, Quintan Wiktorowicz, key Cabinet Departments, including Defense, Homeland Security, Justice and State are purging their curriculum materials of any references about Islam that their Muslim Brotherhood advisors find objectionable. In effect, the national security policy of the U.S. government is being brought into compliance with Islamic law on slander.

Under Islamic law (sharia), "slander" means "to mention anything concerning a person [a Muslim] that he would dislike." Telling the whole truth about Islamic doctrine, law and scriptures-especially the Muslim obligation to conduct warfare against non-Muslims, subjugate them and force them to live under Islamic law-would reveal the very essence of sharia Islam. For obvious reasons, it's not the part of Islam that its Brotherhood vanguard wants Americans to know about.

It's much easier to conquer an adversary who's been anesthetized, cowed, infiltrated and lulled into ignorant passivity than one who's alert and on the defensive. That, in a nutshell, is why there is a campaign called "Islamophobia," designed and promoted by the Muslim Brotherhood to silence those who would speak truth about Islam. And it is why the Brotherhood coup that has just achieved the capitulation of the top levels of the U.S. government is so dangerous to the future of the Republic and America's Constitutional rights.

MoveOn.org just sent out an email advising all their followers to call Governor Scott, because "We have just 24 hours to make sure Governor Rick Scott stops his all-out assault on Florida's Latino voters." Now, not only will Governor Scott's email inbox be full of MoveOn generated emails, his phone will be ringing off the wall with callers telling him to abandon his efforts and allow Florida's rolls to remain bloated beyond recognition.

The Department of Justice has ORDERED Florida NOT to remove non-citizens from the state's voter rolls. Yes, you read that right - and you can read more sordid details here and here.
Florida's Governor, Secretary of State, and Local Supervisors of Elections are now facing enormous pressure from the Federal government, so it is incredibly important that they hear from citizens across the country, encouraging them to stand strong.

We're asking you to join us, and patriot groups across Florida, as we work together to FLOOD the GOV with emails of support!
Every day this week, please send a short email to Florida's Governor and Secretary of State, in support of Free and Fair elections. When you write - tell personal stories. If you have witnessed voter fraud or seen issues in the polls, write about it. If you believe maintaining accurate voter rolls should be a priority, let them know. Always be cordial and polite - remember the media will be watching.

Because of Florida's "sunshine laws" on transparency, all elected officials' emails are public documents, so the MEDIA monitors these emails. Yes, the same media folk who are busily spinning a false narrative about Florida, demonizing them for daring to uphold election integrity and trying to sway public opinion against the state. These spinsters are closely monitoring the Governor's emails, along with the emails of the Secretary of State and Supervisors of Elections, to guage public response is. Special interests and vote fraud deniers will be out in droves; we need to FLOOD the GOVernment with emails that offset the deluge of email being sent by these groups.

The State of Florida must respond to the Department of Justice by tomorrow. Time is of the essence. If you believe having 180,000 non-citizens on Florida's voter rolls is unacceptable, then take 5 minutes to both email and call Governor Scott and let him know you stand with Florida, in their effort to uphold election integrity.
Our goal is for thousands of emails to reach the inboxes of Governor Scott and Secretary Detzner, supporting Florida and encouraging them to stand strong against the Feds.

Governor Rick Scott's email: DOS.SecretaryofState@DOS.MyFlorida.com
Call him at (850) 488-7146
Secretary of State Ken Detzner's email: secretaryofstate@dos.state.fl.us

Fellow patriots, there is a battle raging over our electoral process and the sanctity of our vote; the victor wins our country. Do not sit on the sidelines. Please email and call Governor Scott now.
FLOOD THE GOVernment
-- send emails every day --
do not remain silent!

If our elections are not truly fair, we are not truly free....

NATIONWIDE RALLY FOR YOUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!

There is a mandate in the healthcare bill that orders people to abide by certain government orders even if they are in conflict with your religious beliefs. This applies to all citizens, therefore, is an enforcement by government on every citizen no matter what their choice of religion is. The mandate forces various religious institutions to provide contraceptive medicine, abortion medicines, and other women's pharmaceuticals to employees even if it is against their religious beliefs. This HHS mandate rips our First Amendment to shreds and it is already law. Come out and stand with others across our nation for your First Amendment rights.

Let the Supreme Court know how much we care!

JUNE 8 - Main Speakers noon to 1:00PM. Bring a chair or stand.

LOCATION: 95 S. HANOVER AVE., POTTSTOWN; FREE PARKING ADJACENT TO THE RALLY SITE

Greetings folks,

Some events:

1) Stand up for Religious Freedom rally (Nationwide, coordinated rallies to oppose the HHS mandate)

When: Friday June 8
Where: Pottstown PA, Riverfront Park Area, Hanover Street & Industrial Highway (map)
Time: noon

More info: http://standupforreligiousfreedom.com/
Email the Pottstown Rally Captain

2) Annual Flag Day observance

When: Thursday June 14
Where: Harleysville Savings Bank, 271 Main Street, Harleysville
Time: 6:45PM

Note: This will take the place of our regular monthly meeting, which falls on this day. We will still have our planning session the following Tuesday June 19 @ 7:45pm and movie night the following Thursday June 21 @ 7pm.

3) The Wisconsin recall vote of Gov Scott Walker is next week, June 5.

The Tea Party Army is on the ground in Wisconsin and working hard.
Liberal idiot DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has declared this recall election as a dry run for the November election. If the left wins this, it will empower them for November. If they lose, it will take some wind out of their sails.
PLEASE DONATE to the Tea Party Patriots' voter education work up there. We grassroots groups don't have the Union and Washington-funding that the left has.
Please click here to donate what you can.

4) Philip and Ryan's Monday night "Tea Party meets Church" meeting

I assume this is happening this Monday June 4, 7pm at the Rock (857 Main Street, Harleysville). To confirm, please email Philip: philipherot@live.com

5) We as a group won't be doing First Fridays this year.

It's under new "ownership" and participation has increased in price dramatically from last year. It's not financially tenable or worth our effect at $60/night plus the requirement of insurance and stuff. We'll come up with a different, freer way of answering people's questions.

Old news at this point but the Souderton Teachers' Union has taken a pay freeze. I expect this will come to bite us down the road somehow but for now we can "be happy" with a 3% tax increase. Bitter-sweet. Here's the article: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-souderton-school-board-budget-20120518,0,4755511.story

RJC Philadelphia Chapter

Breakfast with Tom Smith -

GOP Candidate for U.S. Senate

Monday, June 25

Tom Smith's background is a common one in Pennsylvania and across the country, but one that is all too rare in the United States Senate-which may explain a great deal about how our country came to this point in our history.

Tom still lives on the farm in Armstrong County where he grew up. After graduating from Elderton High School in 1965, he postponed college to help his father tend that farm and supplemented his income by driving a school bus. Before too long, Tom had married his high school sweetheart, Saundy, started a family, and went to work in a local surface coal mine.

In 1989, Tom entered the coal business himself, mortgaging everything he had in the hope that he could build a better life for himself and his family. He succeeded, building a series of companies in a highly regulated industry through some tough economic times. When he sold the companies in 2010, they were mining more than a million tons of coal a year and employed over one-hundred people.

Sen. Marco Rubio Live

Dom Giordano welcomes

Senator Marco Rubio (R - FL)

Wednesday, June 20, 2012
7-8:30 PM
Location: National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106

"Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up." (Marco Rubio)

marco rubio an american son 150 Sen. Marco Rubio LiveThere are very few politicians that have risen to national prominence as quickly as Marco Rubio. At age forty-one there is huge interest in and speculation about his political future. Will he be tapped by Mitt Romney to be his running mate? Will he run for President in 2016?

His story is detailed in his new book 'An American Son." Rubio is the son of parents who fled Cuba in the 1950's. Using the work ethic and tenacity instilled in him by his parents and grandfather, Rubio earned a law degree. As a young attorney he ran for the West Miami City Commission, a role that led to the Florida House of Representatives. In just six years he rose to Speaker of the House and became a leading advocate for free enterprise, better schools, limited government, and a fairer, simpler tax system. He found that he could connect with people across party lines while still upholding conservative values.

His U.S. Senate campaign started as an extreme long shot againstFlorida's popular incumbent governor, Charlie Crist. Rubio traveled the state with his message of empowerment and optimism. He upset Crist in both the primary and a dramatic three-way general election, after Crist quit the GOP to run as an independent.

Now Rubio speaks on the national stage about the challenges we face and the better future that's possible if we return to our founding principles. As he puts it , "Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up."

In that vision, as in his family's story, Rubio proves that the American Dream is still alive for those who pursue it.

Tickets are $25.00 and include a hard cover copy of his brand new book 'An American Son."

By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.

Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.

It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents.
The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.

We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

A Special Message from Americans United for Freedom Contributor KrisAnne Hall

THE PLAN TO BAN TEA PARTY RALLIES

SIT DOWN & SHUT UP OR ELSE

By KrisAnne Hall
www.AmericansUnitedforFreedom.com
March 6, 2012

auf_freedom

Heading into the most important election of our lifetime, Barack Obama and a terrified Congress want to make sure angry Americans can never again gather en mass to change the course of history as we did with the 1.2 million member 912 March and the demonstrations that flipped Congress in 2010. No, our tyrannical politicians want to force you to stay home and shut up.

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH! - REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

The protected right of the people peaceably to assemble is unalienable, something that has afforded deep fundamental and historical foundations to our freedom. Our Founders established a clear "no trespassing sign" via our First Amendment to keep the government away from this God-given right essential to Liberty. "Congress shall make no law abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." But new legislation has been passed in Congress that will destroy this absolutely central, simple and non-negotiable right imperative to a free people.

HR 347 and S 1794, the "Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011" has nothing to do with improving landscaping around federal buildings. auf_capitolrallyThis bill is being presented as a No Trespassing bill. Reasonable people understand that lawful restrictions and protections are needed for government officials and government functions. However, this legislation makes it a federal crime to allegedly DISRUPT the "ORDERLY CONDUCT" of government.

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH! - REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

The violator doesn't have to be physically on the grounds where the government business is being conducted, just within the vicinity of the self-proclaimed "business of government." The law is not limited to buildings or locations as the title suggests, but seems to be "roving" and follows persons protected by Secret Service wherever they may go.

  • Standing on a sidewalk with a sign as a Congressman walks by? BUSTED
  • Traffic slowing to read your Tea Party signs? BUSTED
  • Make a statement at a town hall meeting that your Congressman doesn't like? BUSTED

1752(a)(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;

auf_speechresistance1752(a)(3) knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds;

1752(c)(1) the term 'restricted buildings or grounds' means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area - (B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance;

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH!
REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

The right protected in the First Amendment is the right to peaceably assemble. We do not have the right to impede the flow of traffic, either on sidewalks or roadways. We do not have the right to impede anyone's business practices. But this law is not about private business, it is about government operations. Make that Big Brother Government Operations.

This Congress has a habit of writing in vague and overbroad terms; yet, in order for laws to be Constitutionally sound they CANNOT be vague and overbroad in ANY aspect, and they can ONLY interfere with the rights of the people in as narrow a capacity as both necessary and according with Constitutional principle. But this law makes it a crime to disrupt the government. The Supreme Court has said this type of broad language gives too much power to the government, and they have been saying this since 1939. This law actually places the desire of the government to be free from disruption unconstitutional power over the right of the people to redress the government of their grievances.

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH!
REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

Suppose your Congressman, who is under Secret Service protection, has a town hall meeting and many members of the community show up to challenge him on his voting record. This law could be construed to allow federal charges to be brought against these citizens for disrupting his town hall meeting by attending and demanding to be heard under the First Amendment. After all, it will not be hard to claim that people who are not happy with the Congressman's voting record had the "intent" to disrupt this meeting. This vague and overbroad language has the potential to ultimately prevent people from gathering outside any government building or politician's function for fear of being charged with a federal offense. In Constitutional law, we call that a "chilling effect" and the Supreme Court has always held these restrictions to be unconstitutional. After all, who can afford to risk going to jail, to carry a record of federal arrest, to stand for their rights - even if they will win?

auf_ladylibertyspeechThe right to orderly conduct of government is NOT a constitutionally protected right. However we DO have the right to free speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Our Constitution enshrines in government the fundamental principle of protection for our God-given, unalienable rights freely to speak and assemble. These rights of We the People are held as foundation stones of our individual Liberty and the government must protect these rights, not limit them. And throughout history, our Supreme Court has protected these rights.

  • Hague v. CID, 307 U.S. 496 (1939)
  • Boos v. Barry, 485 U.S. 312, 318 (1988)
  • United States v. Grace, 461 U.S. 171, 177 (1983)
  • Educ. Ass'n v. Perry Local Educators' Ass'n, 460 U.S. 37, (1983)

In every single case, the Court ruled that the people's First Amendment right to protest fundamentally outweighs the government's right to avoid uncomfortable situations at which politicians may be called to account for their actions.

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH!
REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

People have the right to complain, the right to have their voices be heard, the right to redress their grievances in the form of protests. These actions are supposed to make the government take notice. Disruption cannot be the standard to stop speech. To allow the government to create this new standard allows the government to tell us to sit down and shut up.

The chilling effect occurs not in the fact that you are denied your due process. If you are arrested because of unlawful legislation you can fight the prosecution and even sue the government for violating your rights. If the Supreme Court has not become completely corrupted you have fairly good odds of winning. But, as anyone who has been wronged by a government agency can tell you, a victory will often come at the expense of a ruined life and livelihood.

The bottom line is that there are laws in every municipality that punish Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, and any other crime involving real threats against government and persons in government. Why do we need a vague and overbroad FEDERAL LAW to enforce laws that are already in effect, when that law could encroach on our God-given, protected rights? William Penn said, "Necessity, it is said, is the plea for every infringement of human Liberty; it is the argument of tyrants and the creed of slaves." Clearly, we don't need a "Federal Trespass Bill." We already have one; it's called the Bill of Rights!

When will we have enough of government intrusion on our Constitutionally protected rights? We were outraged because we are Taxed Enough Already. When will we recognize that if we cannot trust the government with our finances, then we certainly cannot trust the government with our Liberty?

THE FIRST AMENDMENT SHALL NOT DIE ON OUR WATCH!
REPEAL HR347 & 1794 - FAX CONGRESS NOW!

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

The Israel Defense Fund

Tonight, Sunday June 3rd, CUFI Founder and Chairman, Pastor John Hagee, will be announcing an exciting new CUFI initiative.  You can click here to watch it live at 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific). This link will not be live until 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific) tonight.

Tonight, Pastor Hagee will be announcing the creation of the Israel Defense Fund.  This emergency fund will enable CUFI to meet the major challenges we anticipate in the coming months.

CUFI has accomplished great things for Israel.  But the times in which we live demand that we do even more -- and do so now!

We need to do more to defend Israel in the public square and in the media.  The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to purchase more pro-Israel billboards across America as well as full-page newspaper ads as circumstances demand.

We need to do more to defend Israel on our college campuses.  The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to train even more students and hold even more pro-Israel events on campuses across the country.

We need to do more to defend Israel before our leaders.  The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to  be more active than ever in educating our nation's leaders about the justice of Israel's cause.

Even if you can't watch the broadcast, don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of the Israel Defense Fund! Click here now to contribute

We will not be silent.  Together, we will do more than ever to stand up and speak up for Israel.

May God Bless You and Those that You Love,

David Brog
Executive Director
CUFI

"I was literally stunned. Wow!
Brigitte Gabriel has assembled an incredible team to support her message of action and hope!"

"...As much as the issue depresses me, and I could cry every time I think about what is happening to the West, I left yesterday's conference energized and inspired. The Heritage Foundation The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Walker's decisive win as reported by three national newspapers:

The Washington Times:

Walker, Republicans win big in Wisconsin recall races

The New York Times:

Walker Survives Wisconsin Recall Vote

The Washington Post:

Wisconsin Gov. Walker survives recall election

My random thoughts about Gov Walker's big win in Wisconsin.

The liberals are saying, "What did you expect? We were outspent 9-1" - they just don't get it. First of all, they are lying about how much they were outspent, both sides spent enough money to win.

Challenging the Unions pays off politically and fiscally.

Wisconsin is a much more liberal state than Pennsylvania - much more liberal.

The Unions poured into Wisconsin from all over the country and they stomped and whined, but they lost. This is a huge wake-up call.

Today the Wisconsin voters are all on buses and planes, going back from where they came... (to their real states, like Illinois, Indiana, California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, etc)

Walker won by 7 points, if you take out the liberal cheating, it could have been 10% (I have no facts to back this up, but I am convinced that liberals get about 3% extra votes in their cities, just like they do here in Philly).

The Pennsylvania RINOs are probably all getting phone calls from Union Leaders today saying, "Don't even think about it...." The Union Leaders will pull out all the stops, will pull out all the coercion, all the blackmail, all the bribes, to make sure "their politicians" don't try to reform Pensions, or reform prevailing wage, or stop the oppressive labor laws that require mandatory membership in unions and mandatory deduction of union dues.

Wouldn't it be great if the 25-30 Pennsylvania RINOs decided to listen to what Gov Walker said in his victory speech last night? Walker said this - "Voters really do want leaders that stand up and make the tough decisions"

I fear our PA RINOs won't wake up, the Union leaders (and their money) will lean on the RINOs hard and they will cave in to them.

When I say "Republican Leadership" I'm including all our Republican Committee Chairmen and Vice-Chairmain and staff in every town and every county. We need to remind them that they represent US - they should constantly be telling Corbett, Pileggi, Smith, Milne, Ross, and all the others - that the voters are very disappointed with our timid agenda - we have a "3 for 3" super majority and we want some real reform.

I am sick of thinking about the Pensions that these public union employees are getting! When a 28-year old garbage man in north Jersey gets $75,000 a year, and tells me that he will get a 100% pension after 25 years, and that he will be making $125,000.... well, its just wrong... its greedy.

He started at age 20, so that means he can get his 25 years in at age 45 and start collecting $125,000 a year pension for the rest of his life. And its the taxpayers that have to pay that bill.

Its the same in Pennsylvania - our state prison guards get an enormous pension, based on their "high three" (highest 3 years of salary) They can swell that salary by adding overtime, shift differential, and other pays. A prison guard makes about $55,000 a year, but their "High Three" will swell to $120,000 and that's what their pension is based on. Is this sane??

Its the same with all our public union employees and teachers - even the janitors at our schools get these outrageous excessive pensions.

We need politicians and party leaders that will say "Enough!" - we need leaders who can articulate that the current pension system is out of control.

As a military retiree, I get 46.5% of my base pay (which was $2400 per month) - thats it. I can't include money I received when I was active duty (like housing, food, uniforms, sub pay, sea pay, hazardous duty pay, etc).

Union members get all kinds of "extra pay" included in their final pension packages. For example, teachers get to swell their pensions with money for coaching, choir, chorus, bus watchers, drama club, and all kinds of "other" pays. Its not right, its excessive, its greedy.

I urge everyone to remind their state reps and their state senators and their state committee leaders that "they work for us" - don't be beholden to the unions. I know that deep in their hearts they saw what happened and a light went on, now lets hope that our Pennsylvania leaders will not be scarred of the unions.

Thanks for listening and thanks for having the courage to do the right thing.

Victory Center" on Facebook

-Gabriel Malor

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

GOP Facebook

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For June 7, 2012

1. If Only They Don't Go Wobbly

Our Republican Leadership in Washington, D.C. is extremely risk adverse. It is very clear the leadership has convinced itself, despite historic truth, that Newt Gingrich lost his job because of the government shutdown way back when. They do not want to have protracted fights. They want to appear reasonable. They crave the press's adoration of "grown ups" and "reasonable men."

I expect Barack Obama to capitalize on this Republican lack of self-esteem before October. I expect him to manufacture some fight with the GOP on fiscal issues and expect the GOP to cave so he can appear "reasonable."

The media will aid him with choruses of "good government" and "government working" and "bipartisanship."

I hope the GOP pays attention to Wisconsin.

2. From Sen. DeMint: The Other Big Elections

There were actually three major elections centered around state and local government employee pensions and benefits Tuesday night.

And though the media blanketed the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall with coverage, you can be forgiven if you didn't even know about the referenda in San Diego and San Jose, California. Voters in those two cities, respectively the 8th and 10th largest in the country, were asked whether to reform their city employee retirement plans, converting them from defined benefit pensions to defined contribution, 401(k)-style plans.

The reforms passed in both cities by 2-to-1 margins.

3. Saxby Chambliss Does the Right Thing, Re: SWATting

I must admit, I'm happy my state has two Republican Senators, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson. It's certainly better than the alternative, whether one or two Democrats. However, there are so many times that I wish they'd give us conservatives more than what they'd do.

So, for once, I am happy to see one of my guys taking the lead on an issue, especially one as dangerous and pressing as SWATting.

4. Taking a Second Look at those #WIRecall Exit Polls-And Other Things

In their frantic attempt to glean something positive from last night's shellacking in Wisconsin, we found the Obama campaign clinging (bitterly?) to the results of the exit polls. According to them, Obama was still beating Romney 51-45% in the state. Unfortunately, for them at least, they don't even get this satisfaction anymore.

BENADOR: Misleading "Moderate" Muslim Zuhdi Jasser Promotes Islam in America   Jun 06, 2012 09:33 am

"Taqqiya, in Islam, is a doctrine of pious fraud or religious dissimulation... whereby Muslims may under certain circumstances openly deceive infidels by feigning friendship or goodwill provided their heart remains true to Islam."

Americans are known for being naive.  However, the situation should change when one speaks of noted patriot scholars, terrorism experts and even palestinian-terrorists-turned-head-of-think-tanks, who adamantly pretend to care for America in their interminable fight against Muslim terrorists.  Right!

More on the Slaughtered Convert to Christianity   Jun 06, 2012 12:22 am

I just received an email from the editor of a large website, who posted my story from yesterday about the slaughtered apostate. He writes:

The story generated a huge number of commentaries from readers, some of them originating from Muslim Countries. They harshly dispute and deny the veracity of the facts you mention in your paper. Some argue that this abomination did not take place in Tunisia-and I do believe so-but somewhere in Iraq, that the young man is not a Christian but a Shiite, that he was not slaughtered for apostasy but for being a spy of the Americans, and so on... It's true that the facts are not properly documented : we don't know even the date of this event, the place, the name of this unfortunate young man... Do you have any additional details and data to help answering ? Many thanks for your kind and urgent attention.

The U.S. military for years has debated the utility of counterinsurgency operations. Drawing from a sentiment that harkens back to the Vietnam War, many within the military have long opposed counterinsurgency operations. Others see counterinsurgency as the unavoidable future of U.S. warfare. The debate is between those who believe the purpose of a conventional military force is to defeat another conventional military force and those who believe conventional military conflicts increasingly will be replaced by conflicts more akin to recent counterinsurgency operations. In such conflicts, the purpose of a counterinsurgency is to transform an occupied society in order to undermine the insurgents.

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that two Secret Service agents who violated the First Amendment rights of Steven Howards are immune from prosecution. As the Christian Science Monitor noted, the court's decision in Reichle "is consistent with a trend at the high court in recent years granting government officials broad immunity from civil lawsuits charging that officials used their government power to violate constitutional rights."

Renewable Energy Subsidies 6.4 Times Greater than Fossil Fuel Subsidies   Jun 05, 2012 10:37 am

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) at the request of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee evaluated federal subsidies received by the various energy industries for fiscal year 2011.[i] The agency found that energy-related subsidies totaled $24 billion, of which $16 billion were spent on renewable energy and energy efficiency and $2.5 billion on fossil fuels in fiscal year 2011. In other words, renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency programs received 6.4 times more subsidies than fossil fuels received. The ethanol industry, which received over $6 billion, was the single largest renewable energy recipient and the wind industry was the second largest renewable energy recipient, according to CBO.[ii]

U.S. brushes off Muslim Brotherhood's anti-Israel rhetoric

By Morton A. Klein

Morton A. Klein

NEW YORK - Following last week's Egyptian first round of voting in the country's presidential election, which has seen the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohamed Mursi, win a plurality of the vote (44%), the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has pointed to continuing, alarming developments in Egypt. The ZOA is urging the US to address these developments, not to ignore or dismiss them, as the State Department spokesman, Victoria Nuland, has been doing.

The ZOA has pointed to a list of negative developments in Egypt, including viciously anti-Israeli and anti-American statements and goals enunciated by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leadership even before last year's toppling of the Hosni Mubarak regime:

The thesis written by Michelle LaVaughn Robinson (now Obama) in 1985, contains three unmitigated impediments that would have rendered the paper an automatic F in the Introduction to the Research Paper course I taught at a Chicago area community college, yet it was accepted at her Ivy League Princeton University alma mater.

No attribution in the form of formal footnotes and very little author extrapolation are bad enough but using the school's participation in the selection of field sample are unacceptable literary research flaws that would stop the grading  process at page 17.  Robinson states: "With the permission of ___________, the President of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni and his office, the STAFF at the Alumni Records Office ASSISTED the Study BY SELECTING every fourth name on a mailing list of approximately 1,200 names until 400 names were collected!  This removes the paper's author from the third person objective normative ... American Minute June 5

Jun 05, 2012 06:13 pm | Coach Collins

JUNE 5, 1967, the Six-Day War began.
Egypt sent 80,000 troops and 900 tanks to attack Israel.
Jordan and Syria, with Soviet weapons, violently shelled Jerusalem and Israeli villages. Cairo radio announced:
"The hour has come in which we shall destroy Israel."
The hot line between Washington and Moscow was used for the first time.
In a surprise move, Israeli Air Force destroyed 400 Egyptian planes, courageously drove Syria from the Golan Heights and captured all of Jerusalem.
In a CBS-TV interview, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion stated:
"In Israel, in order to be a realist you must believe in miracles."
Seven months after the War, on Jan. 7, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson toasted Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, saying:
"Welcome to our family table...All Americans-and all Israelis-know...that none...can ever live by bread alone...
One of your ancestors said it for all men almost 2,000 years ago...for peace it ... Continue Reading:American Minute June 5

The White House is Romney's unless he runs a McCain campaign

Jun 05, 2012 01:00 pm | Coach Collins

by Doug Book,  staff writer

Forget the rigged polls and the media happy face. Mitt Romney will win the White House in November, probably in a big way, unless he is foolish enough to repeat John McCain's, 2008 display of campaign cowardice.

The 3 ½ year reign of Barack Hussein Obama has been a disaster for taxpayers, most of the business world and the American public in general.

He has waged war on energy producers, threatening the coal industry with destruction, shutting down the drilling of oil and driving natural gas suppliers from the country, all the while wielding the EPA like a sword to wreak havoc on corporations and individuals alike.

He has wasted billions of tax dollars in politically motivated green energy ventures, usually for the purpose of enticing money from-or bailing out-big money contributors to the Democrat Party.

He has created virtually no jobs, unless for members of public employee ... Continue Reading:The White House is Romney's unless he runs a McCain campaign

And you thought Obama's 'composite girlfriend' was weird. Look who else Obama tried to disguise in his autobiography.      In her New York Times column this past weekend, Maureen Dowd quotes Barack Obama's boss at his 1980s community organizing job in Chicago, one Jerry Kellman.

Dowd, however, failed to note that in his book, "Dreams From My Father," Obama disguised Kellman's name by using a so-called composite character, a fictional "Marty Kaufman," to depict his former boss.

Muslim Brotherhood infiltrates U.S. public schools? You wont believe shocking ties of group behind Arabic language classes.      A flurry of news media reports last week highlighted a Harlem public elementary school that will become the first in New York to require students to study Arabic.

Entirely unreported is that the organization that co-created and funded the Arabic language program for the New York school, KleinOnline has found, maintains close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood while the group's founder also started the Al Jazeera television network.

The Qatar Foundation International, or QFI, a nonprofit group financed by the government of Qatar, gave Harlem's Hamilton Heights, a K-5 public school school, a $250,000 grant to support the Arabic program for three years.

In the Sixteenth Year of Obama - The Isle of Freedom
(This is a continuation of the Sixteenth Year of Obama Series - A Scientific Romance of the Year 2024. The first part can be found here under The Isle of Endless Education.)

The moonlight shone gently down on the solar-powered train resting on a bridge between two government islands. Inside, Marc and Julie, a young couple typical of the over educated upper class of the United States of North America and Europe, drowsed fitfully on the recycled plastic benches, their sleep interrupted by the whirring noises of nearby windmills generating power from the occasional breezes wafting between the islands.

When the morning came, the light-rail carriage began to move again at the highest permissible speed for a non-government vehicle in the sixteenth year of Obama, known in the antiquated calendar as 2024. Within a few hours, they were within sight of the stolid granite buildings of the Isle of Freedom and the harbor and railway leading up to the compound. A man in a brown uniform wearing a Sam Browne belt and a gleaming silver badge met them at the dock. He ran a scanner over them, patted them down, asked them a number of leading questions and then finally, after determining that they were not smuggling forbidden commodities like cough syrup, rare woods, plastic bags, CFC- emitting asthma inhalers, gold coins, subversive literature and lawn darts, they were allowed past the guardhouse, and into the Isle of Freedom.

Glancing around, Julie could not help but notice that the Isle was ringed by barbed wire and tall guard towers brooding over the deserted harbor. "I wonder why the security is so heavy."

Immediately a speaker mounted on a nearby elm tree sputtered to life. "Wait here."

The young couple waited uneasily until eventually a golf cart rolled up. Inside perched a wizened man in a loud t-shirt bearing the slogan, "Power to the People."

"Welcome," he shouted to them, "welcome to the freest place on earth."

They waited while he caught his breath, tossed aside a crumpled beer can, and gasped out, "This is wild, isn't it!?"

It seemed safer to agree with him, so that was what Marc and Julie did.

Good morning, good evening and good afternoon," the elfin man exclaimed, donning a pair of oversized sunglasses. "I'm the Director General of Freedom. But you can call me Steve. And did I hear you asking a question."

"We didn't mean any harm by it," Julie said.

"Harm? Question?" The Director General of Freedom threw out his arms. "Here on the Isle of Freedom we absolutely encourage everyone to ask questions. It's the essence of freedom. That's why we made it mandatory for everyone to ask at least ten questions a day."

Walker's Policies Won the Recall Tonight

by Mike Flynn

Scott Walker's win tonight was a resounding victory for political courage and government reform. After more than a year of vitriolic attacks and tens of millions of dollars from union member paychecks, Walker and his GOP allies survived everything unions could throw at them. It was a victory for grass roots activists, the tea party and a newly emboldened Republican party. Most importantly, it was a victory for the common sense reforms championed by Walker.

Democrats claimed that Walker had championed "divisive" polices that sparked a "political civil war" in the state. The reforms required state workers to contribute a little bit more to their benefits and gave local governments the freedom to set their own health care and pension policies. Walker's reforms put Wisconsin government workers on the exact same negotiating footage as federal government workers.

News from The Hill:

Gov. Walker in line for convention speaking slot
By Josh Lederman

Gov. Scott Walker's (R-Wis.) triumph in a Tuesday recall election has cemented him among the GOP's "bright, shining stars" and put him in line for a primetime speaking slot at the national convention in August, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Wednesday.

"He's got a pretty good advocate here at the RNC," Priebus told The Hill.

Priebus, who was born in Wisconsin and formerly ran the state GOP there, called Walker a close friend and suggested he would be exactly the kind of person the party seeks to highlight at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

"I'm going to do what's best for winning the presidency, and having a convention with bold leaders and great ideas is something that I intend to do," Priebus said. "Scott Walker is in the category of bright, shining stars with big ideas in this country."

Ethics case against Rep. Waters to proceed
By Jordy Yager

The House Ethics Committee announced on Wednesday that Rep. Maxine Waters' (D-Calif.) rights were not violated in its investigation of her and its case will proceed.

In a letter to Waters, the committee wrote to inform the lawmaker that it had considered the 12 allegations of misconduct her lawyer had presented against the panel and found that none of them was in violation of the House or committee rules.

"The outside counsel has concluded, and the Committee has unanimously found that you have been afforded notice and the opportunity to be heard," wrote Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the panel's acting chairman on the Waters case, and Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), the committee's ranking member.

"As such, there has been no violation of the due process rights to which you are entitled. Even when the allegations are considered in their totality, there is still no violation of the process which you are due, and the Committee is entitled to continue its consideration of your matter," the lawmakers wrote.

For more than two years, the committee has investigated whether Waters violated House rules after allegations surfaced that she secured funding for a bank in which her husband own stock. Waters has maintained her innocence.

May Jobs Report Has No Spring in Its Step

Analysts expected a slow but steady employment report in May. The actual employment report was considerably worse than expected. Employers created only 69,000 net jobs, and the unemployment rate edged up to 8.2 percent. Revisions also showed that employers created 49,000 fewer jobs than originally estimated in March and April. Coupled with the recent downward revision to GDP estimates by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and rising unemployment insurance claims, this report suggests the labor market recovery is approaching stall speed.

A Historic Win for Reform in Wisconsin

The state of Wisconsin has once again lived up to its billing as a Midwestern incubator of Big Ideas. In yesterday's case, when voters resoundingly defeated a liberal effort to recall Governor Scott Walker (R), the Big Idea was that reformers who come armed with the strength of their convictions can carry the day--even against mobs, labor unions, Hollywood, the media, academia and everything else the left throws up these days. All reformers need to do is lead.

In Walker's case, his weapon in the fight against out-of-control government was a promise to the voters of Wisconsin that, were he entrusted with their vote, he would bring sweeping reforms to state government. One year ago, Governor Walker fulfilled that promise, and last night the voters rewarded him for his leadership by resoundingly rejecting an effort to remove him from power.

It was a historic recall election that focused nationwide attention on what has become an existential threat to state governments -- the problem of public-sector employee pensions and benefits running states into the red. Walker unabashedly confronted that threat without straddling a fence or tiptoeing around Big Labor's Maginot Line. Facing a $3.6 billion deficit and the fourth highest tax burden in the country, Walker instituted policies designed to bring some sanity to state government. Those reforms included asking public sector workers to contribute a modest 5.8 percent of their salaries to their pensions and at least 12.6 percent of their health-care premiums while also limiting the collective bargaining power of public sector unions. (Even that is a small amount, as Heritage's Jason Richwine shows in a new paper examining the true costs of public pensions."

Those moderate policies sent labor unions and their allies into full-on crisis mode. Tens of thousands of protesters stormed Wisconsin's capitol last spring, Democratic state senators fled the state in hopes of blocking a vote on the measures, and lawsuits were filed to block the law from taking effect. Ultimately, Walker's reforms were upheld, yet a massive effort to recall the governor was undertaken.

In short order, a massive campaign to unseat Walker was launched. Unions poured millions of dollars into the race to attack the governor, President Barack Obama weighed in on the eve of the election (albeit timidly, with a Tweet) and endorsed Walker's opponent, and grassroots armies descended on the state to turn out the vote. Yesterday, the voters of Wisconsin had an opportunity to examine the governor's reforms and render a verdict on whether they approved of the direction he has taken their state.

One of Governor Walker's reforms included giving government workers the option to choose whether they wanted to pay union dues. When given the option, tens of thousands of members chose to leave the union. And according to exit polls, a third of union households backed Walker. But union leadership remains out of touch with the fiscal crisis Wisconsin, and our nation, faces. Yet as the people of Wisconsin know, Walker's reforms have helped Wisconsin turn the corner. Since Walker took office, the state unemployment rate has fallen from 7.7 percent to 6.8 percent- well below the national average of 8.2 percent. And last year, Wisconsin employers actually created 23,000 jobs. In other words, Wisconsin's economy is growing all while the rest of the country faces very troubled economic time.

Walker's victory will send shockwaves across the country. Last year, the governor took a strong stand for the proposition that public sector unions should not negotiate their taxpayer-funded benefits with politicians they helped elect using mandatory dues. And he also stood for reforms that curbed spending and got his state's budget under control -- without raising taxes. Despite facing a recall election, Walker was ultimately rewarded for a job well done.

There have only been three gubernatorial recall elections in U.S. history, and Walker was the first one to survive the challenge. As Louisana Governor Bobby Jindal said last night on Fox News, "What Scott Walker has proved tonight is that good policy makes great politics."

A suicide bomber killed at least 22 civilians and wounded 50 others in southern Afghanistan today. The attack, for which the Taliban claimed credit, hit near Kandahar Air Field NATO air base.

Most states still have not recovered from the 2007 recession. A new report shows that only nine states have returned to their pre-recession economic output. Of those states, most are energy producers.

City workers in San Jose may have to contribute significantly more to their pensions or to accept more modest benefits. A ballot measure instituting those reforms appears to have won by wide measure.

Heritage Action for America Why We Fight

Good Policy Equals Good Politics

Last night, voters in Wisconsin held the line against government union special interests, and delivered a strong message to governors and lawmakers across the country.

Wisconsin voters rewarded Governor Scott Walker for taking a principled stand and enacting reforms that actually work. Now, lawmakers in Washington who are willing to demonstrate a seriousness of purpose should feel empowered to lead.

>>See the recipe for bold conservative leadership.

Heritage Action is convinced, despite the spin and antics from the left and hostile media outlets, that good policy is indeed good politics.

Thanks for your continued support of reform-minded conservatives across the country. America needs principled conservatives like you to help keep Members of Congress accountable.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Needham
Chief Executive Officer
Heritage Action for America

The recall heard around the world

Ann Coulter

I watched the Wisconsin returns on MSNBC Tuesday night, and it came right down to the wire between "the Democrats were outspent 7-to-1" and "Republicans are stripping union rights!" As we go to press it's still too close to call.

President Obama wanted to go to Wisconsin, but he just didn't have time. He's been doing so many campaign fundraisers lately he barely has time to play golf.

The left's "outspent" argument is ridiculous. Unions take money by force from members, hire hundreds of political operatives and give them salaries to work on campaigns, then call them "volunteers" so their work isn't reported as a campaign contribution.

Luckily for them, government employees' non-punishing work schedules leave them plenty of time to be in a constant state of grievance, demanding recalls after any election they lose and mobilizing voters.

The Foundation

"In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate -- look to his character." --Noah Webster

Editorial Exegesis

Scott Walker won his recall with a larger margin than he did when he first won the governorship

"The year-long saga of the Wisconsin recall is, at long last, over, and Scott Walker is still standing. ... Walker's enemies did everything but release the kraken. And yet, he won. ... Walker won because his reform program is popular, and because it is working. ... Walker won because he represented the taxpayer, while his opponent represented the groups whose livelihoods depend on bilking the taxpayer. Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett served as less of an alternative than a vessel for Big Labor's unmoored wrath. ... And, most of all, Scott Walker saved his job by being the adult in the room. While Democrats in Washington seem to be relying on their belief that the United States government is 'too big to fail' to justify a program of taxing and spending our way out of debt, the states don't have such a luxury. And so, across the country, in states red, blue, and purple, they have turned to men like Scott Walker -- and Chris Christie, and Mitch Daniels, and others -- to close structural deficits, stabilize out-of-control spending, and break the death embrace between Big Labor and Big Government. In taking this toxic partnership head on, in a state with a rich progressive history no less, Walker became its biggest target. His enemies spent a year and a half preparing to take their best shot at him. And a combined total of $100 million or so later, they missed. They missed because voters are starting to understand that governing through crisis requires someone willing to make unpopular choices, stand up to entrenched interests, and hold the line against loud and determined opposition. Quite simply, Wisconsin voters realized that if they no longer had Scott Walker, they would have to invent him." --National Review

What message does Tuesday's failed recall election send to Obama?

Upright

"[T]he political left were trying to demonstrate that power and privileges once granted are eternal. They wanted to run Mr. Walker out of Madison as an object lesson that trying to limit collective bargaining and mandatory dues collection for government unions will end your political career. ... Public unions are never going to cede their dominance over taxpayers without a fight. And it's worth recalling how brutally they fought. They occupied the state capital for weeks. They harassed GOP lawmakers and their families, tried to recall state Senators and defeat a conservative Supreme Court judge, while Democratic lawmakers abdicated their legislative duty by fleeing the state. They lost in the end because Mr. Walker and Republicans rode out the storm, passed their reforms, and are now able to show Wisconsin voters the beneficial results. The longer-term impact of Mr. Walker's vindication will depend on the lesson other political leaders take from it." --The Wall Street Journal

"Much of the Political Punditry Class has been touting [Wisconsin] as a preview of the 2012 Presidential election, but now that the Republican won, don't expect to hear too much of that kind of talk. In fact, the ink was barely dry on the headlines when the word went forth that it was actually a good night for Obama because the exit polling showed Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney 51-45. ... An exit poll showing the incumbent President just barely over 50 percent does not a victory make, seems to me. Even at that, the real issue at the national level isn't whether Obama wins Wisconsin in November, the real issue is the highly touted union-backed turnout operation fell short. ... If the Wisconsin operation was a test run, the Obama campaign might need to go back and do some re-sodding." --columnist Rich Galen

"Scott Walker never lacked courage. It took steely determination not to buckle in the face of militant unions who 'occupied' the stately Wisconsin capitol in Madison when Walker's reforms were first voted on. For two years, leftists have been howling. One of their speakers at a get out the (union) vote rally actually compared Scott Walker's reforms to the 9/11 attacks on our country. And this is the crowd that is forever lecturing us on civility." --columnist Ken Blackwell

"Government debt in Greece is 160 percent of gross domestic product. The other percentages of GDP are 120 in Italy, 104 in Ireland and 106 in Portugal. ... Here's the question for us: Is the U.S. moving in a direction toward or away from the troubled EU nations? It turns out that our national debt, which was 35 percent of GDP during the 1970s, is now 106 percent of GDP, a level not seen since World War II's 122 percent. ... I am all too afraid that Benjamin Franklin correctly saw our nation's destiny when he said, 'When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.'" --economist Walter E. Williams

Essential Liberty

"So many people, myself included, almost never drink any full sugar soda. ... So really, what's the big deal [about Mayor Bloomberg's proposed soda ban]? I believe it really is not about the soda. It is about the underlying belief by government regulators that if there is a problem, the government not only should, but has the capacity to fix it. ... [W]hen a government official says something like 'we as a society have to do everything possible to fight obesity,' he sounds reasonable, but when you realize he was really talking about the government, it becomes a bit more troubling. The fact that they use the euphemism suggest that even the heavy-handed regulators know that people don't want the government to be doing things that should be left to society." --National Center for Public Policy Research Senior Fellow Jeff Stier

The Demo-gogues

Pot, meet kettle: "Folks out there are still anxious, they're still scared about the future. And so what the other side is counting on is fear and frustration, that that in and of itself is going to be enough because they sure aren't offering any new ideas. All they're offering is the same old ideas that didn't work then, and won't work now." --Barack Obama

Blame game: "Now, here's the thing, though: We're not where we need to be. We're not there yet. We saw that in [Friday's] jobs report. Yes, a lot of that is attributable to Europe and the cloud that's coming over from the Atlantic, and the whole world economy has been weakened by it. And it's having an impact on us." --Barack Obama

Excuses: "The underlying fundamentals for the economy are actually quite good, and we need to keep that in mind. We're doing in the Congress a whole series of things to actually help stimulate the economy." --Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE)

Still running against George W. Bush: "We are not going back to a set of policies that say you're on your own and that's essentially the theory of the other side. You know, George Romney." --Barack Obama, perhaps confusing his current opponent with his perpetual one, though George Romney was Mitt's father

Rewriting history: "Republicans know that they can't win this election on the merits. Barack Obama, who has been fighting for the middle class and working families, has begun to get this economy turned around -- taken, after three years, an economy that was hemorrhaging 750,000 jobs a month and now we've had 27 straight months of job growth in the private sector, a resurgence in the manufacturing sector. And they know that that is thanks to [Obama's] policies." --DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)

Civility: "I think the [Republicans'] next act will be dragging women out of patient rooms into the streets and screaming over their bodies as they get dragged out of getting access to women's health care. That's what I feel like is occurring today with the legislation that is on the floor. ... First of all, there is bipartisan and unilateral and unanimous support that we should not have agenda-based abortions for the sake of getting one gender over another. That's a human, humane and humanitarian issue that none of us quarrel with." --Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) opposing a law to ban gender-based abortions

John McCain also lost: "John McCain believed in climate change. John believed in campaign finance reform. He believed in immigration reform. I mean, there were some areas where you saw some overlap. In this election, the Republican Party has moved in a fundamentally different direction." --Barack Obama

Is that a compliment? "I know, literally, Barack and I talk about it. Neither one of us would have had any shot. The same with our wives. Both wives are smarter than both of us. Literally, these very accomplished women would not have any chance without some [government] help." --Joe Biden on the "war on women"

Nanny state: "Is purchasing two 16 oz sodas too much of an inconvenience to help reverse a national health catastrophe?" --New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on his large sugary drink ban

Dezinformatsia

The BIG Lie: "What should be done about the economy? Republicans claim to have the answer: slash spending and cut taxes. What they hope voters won't notice is that that's precisely the policy we've been following the past couple of years. Never mind the Democrat in the White House; for all practical purposes, this is already the economic policy of Republican dreams. ... The fact is that we have already seen the Republican economic future -- and it doesn't work." --New York Times columnist Paul Krugman

What spending cuts? "The U.S. economy added just 69,000 jobs in May, far below economists' expectations. The report suggests that the GOP's deep spending cuts and other austerity measures have undermined growth." --ThinkProgress

Not his fault: "The bleak jobs report on Friday predictably had heads snapping toward the White House, looking to President Obama to do something. Yet his proposed remedies only underscore how much the president, just five months before he faces voters, is at the mercy of actors in Europe, China and Congress whose political interests often conflict with his own." --Jackie Calmes and Nicholas Kulish in the New York Times

That's racist: "[M]aybe [Mitt Romney's] not running for the presidency of the United States, maybe he's running for the presidency of 'Caucasia-stan' or some place that doesn't have anyone of color in it." --MSNBC contributor Karen Hunter

Unhinged: "Scott Walker could very well be indicted in the coming days." --MSNBC's Ed Schultz

America stinks: "[The Star Spangled Banner is] an abomination. ... Are we the only ones who are brave on the planet? I mean all the brave people live here. I mean it's just stupid I think. I'm embarrassed, I'm embarrassed every time I hear it." --radio talk-show host Bill Press

Quod licet Bon Jovi

Posted: 06 Jun 2012 03:48 PM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

The old Latin experession, frequently cited by Bill Buckly, has it that "Quod licet Jovi, non licet bovi." Translated literally, it means: "What is permitted to Jupiter is not permitted to oxen." More loosely, I would translate it: "What is allowed a god is not allowed a dog," or something to that effect. The saying may be a recognition of the reality principle or a testament to the permanence of double standards.

In news outside Wisconsin, it was reported earlier this week that the fabulously successful aging hipster Jon Bon Jovi hitched a ride on Air Force one to - where else? - an Obama fundraiser, this one at the Waldorf in New York. Mr. Bon Jovi performed at the fundraiser.

I have nothing bad to say about Mr. Bon Jovi except that his political judgment is way off. He is the kind of liberal who considers himself to have risen above his faith (Catholic). But he is a charitable man and, I believe, a family man, still married to his high school sweetheart. Before he became rock's poster boy for family values, however, he was deemed "just another grinning heartthrob up to his hairy chest in groupies."

In any event, I think we can say in this case, what is permitted Jovi is permitted someone lesser.

Big Labor morphs into predatory bankers

Posted: 06 Jun 2012 11:35 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

With collections from union dues declining, how is Big Labor finding the resources to spend so heavily in elections like the one last night in Wisconsin? According to Peter Schweizer, they are doing it in part by acting like banks:

Big unions are morphing into the kinds of big businesses and banks they decry, hawking to their members everything from high interest credit cards to home loans. . . .

Consider, for example, the "SEIU New Rewards Visa Card" and the AFL-CIO "Union Plus" card. With each new enrollment and subsequent swipe of the card, the union bags a fee and a percentage respectively.
This turns into huge money: In FY2011, according to its LM-2 filing with the Department of Labor, the AFL-CIO received approximately $28,163,266.00 from credit card revenue.

Given the labor movement's high-wattage rhetoric against the big banks, issuing credit cards to union members seems like an odd revenue source for Big Labor to pursue.

But maybe unions like the SEIU are giving their members breaks. Not so, says Schweizer; they are just as "greedy" as their private sector counterparts:

Both the AFL-CIO and SEIU try to give their members the impression that their cards are superior to others on the market, but they're not. The SEIU, for example, offers an introductory rate of 12.24% APR to 22.24%, which is consistent with the industry standards the union have labeled "predatory." The SEIU card boasts that it doesn't charge a late fee. But union members should read the fine print; if they miss a payment, their rate skyrockets to 27.99%.

Nerdwallet, which Money magazine calls the "Best Credit Card Site" on the web, compares the value of more than 1,000 credit cards. They thrashed the Union Plus card's slick advertising and complex fine print.

Worse, Nerdwallet points out that many of the card's so-called benefits are already available by virtue of union membership. "We are appalled at the popularity of the Union Plus Credit Card," says Nerdwallet. "Avoid the Union Plus Credit Card."

Most amazing of all is Big Labor's approach to home mortgages. The AFL-CIO says it has led an estimated 200 protests against Chase and other lenders. The SEIU's website declares: "Chase hurts everybody. They're making a profit by lending taxpayers their own money."

But the AFL-CIO and SEIU hawk "Union Plus" mortgages to their members. And, according to Schweizer, if you use the Union Plus mortgage program, the unions direct you to Chase, with the unions receiving a fee. So far, in fact, the Union Plus mortgage program has directed more than 80,000 mortgages to Chase.

Schweizer's conclusion is spot on:

All this means that AFL-CIO and SEIU members have themselves become enormous profit centers for the union bosses who control them. When the banks do it, it's called Wall Street greed at its worst. When the Big Labor does it, it's simply working the union way.

Thinking about the unthinkable at the Pentagon

Posted: 06 Jun 2012 07:29 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Max Boot wonders why the Pentagon isn't planning for sequestration - the draconian, automatic cuts in defense spending that will begin to take effect in January unless Congress can agree to significantly reduce overall federal pursuant to an actual plan. It is hard to believe that the Pentagon isn't making contingency plans, but Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter has publicly stated that it is not.

Carter's explanation is that planning is inherently a rational process, and that since sequestration is inherently irrational, the two don't mix. This is wordplay, not analysis. It should not be taken seriously.

The explanation that Boot considers is one presented by Pentagon officials. According to this rationale, to formulate a list of cuts is to admit that cuts are possible, which would make Congress more likely to find sequestration acceptable, or to make the cuts in some other context. This is a plausible rationale, although, as Boot notes, you can argue it the other way - once Congress sees what would actually be cut, it will recoil from sequestration.

My uneducated guess is that top-level folks like Deputy Secretary Carter are thinking about how to cope with sequestration; not to do so would constitute gross neglect of duty. However, no formal planning process is underway, and thought process is a closely guarded secret. Why? Because to discuss cuts would cause extreme, and possibly unnecessary, consternation and discord among the Pentagon's internal constituencies, and would freak out defense contractors.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 153 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Walker Wins!

Scott Walker made history last night. The
Associated Press
reports that there have been only three gubernatorial recall elections in U.S. history, and Scott Walker is the only governor to survive. He did more than just survive. He expanded his margin of victory last night over his performance in 2010. Congratulations, Governor Walker!

We kept a low profile throughout the race, but we played our part by sending voter education materials and Get-Out-The-Vote messages into the state in the days leading up to the election. Everyone who supports our work shares in this historic victory. Thank you, my friends!

Now here is some analysis on the recall and what the results mean going forward.

  • "Public-Sector Unions Are Clear Losers In Walker Victory." That's the big takeaway from yesterday's results. It's also the lead headline in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Big Labor wanted to make an example out of Scott Walker and spent big on this recall election. But in the end Big Labor was the biggest loser. And not just in Wisconsin. In San Diego and San Jose yesterday, voters overwhelmingly approved initiatives to reform pension programs for local government workers.
  • It is difficult to overstate the impact of this election. As one commentator noted, it wasn't for nothing that Big Labor targeted Wisconsin for state legislative recall elections last year. It wasn't for nothing that they threw the kitchen sink at a Wisconsin state Supreme Court race last year. And it wasn't for nothing that Big Labor went after Walker this year. But in each case the left fell short.

And do you remember the raucous, left-wing crowds that occupied and vandalized the state capitol during the legislative debate on Gov. Walker's reform proposals? There were assaults and death threats made against Republican legislators. Conservatives were horrified, but the media told us that it was just the people speaking up, "democracy in action."

Last night, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, who was also on the ballot and won big, told supporters, "THIS is what democracy looks like!" That was a great line to shame the left and its liberal media allies. Good for her!
  • Reports of suspected liberal cheating were widespread. Early in the day, election officials in liberal Madison were predicting turnout of 119%. No that's not a typo. Thanks to same-day registration, people can just show up at the polls on Election Day and cast ballots. This makes voter fraud very easy because there's no time to verify information.

It's particularly a problem in college towns like Madison because there is little to stop students from voting by absentee from their home address and then registering at the polls and voting in person again on Election Day. Thankfully, it didn't make the difference because the race wasn't close.

That's why it is so important that conservatives do not waste their right to vote. Voting does make a difference!
  • While labor and budget issues may have dominated the headlines, I think it is a big mistake to underestimate values issues. During a recent debate, Democrat Tom Barrett publicly embraced same-sex "marriage." He also supported taxpayer-funding of abortion.
  • Perhaps in response, Walker's support in a number of rural communities actually increased by several percentage points last night over his performance in 2010. For example, Walker won 55% of the vote in Barron County in 2010. Last night he won 59%. In Taylor County, Walker won 62% in 2010. Last night, he received 72%! It might also explain why Gov. Walker won 38% of union households last night.

Governor Walker began his victory speech by saying, "First of all, I would like to thank God for His abundant grace." A few minutes later, he acknowledged all the young people in crowd saying, "This is what it is all about -- faith, family, freedom!"
  • There is a lesson here for the Romney campaign. There is no reason to think that Gov. Romney will outperform Scott Walker in the Democrat strongholds like Madison and Milwaukee. But he needs to do at least as well as Governor Walker in the rural counties, which have greater concentrations of religious voters who care about pro-family and pro-life issues. Of course Governor Romney must keep talking about the economy. But he also needs to step up his appeal to values voters.
  • Democrats and their media allies are howling this morning about the GOP's fundraising advantage in the recall election. Their hypocrisy is disgusting. In 2008, Barack Obama had a massive fundraising advantage over John McCain. No one in the media seemed bothered then about financial advantages and disadvantages.

Last year Democrats and the media gloated about how Obama the rock star would raise $1 billion for his reelection campaign and bury the GOP. And now the left is whining about money. When Democrats have the advantage, money is an asset. But when Republicans have the advantage, it's suddenly a threat to democracy.

Now for the big question: What do last night's results mean for November? Democrats are taking solace in exit polls that found Barack Obama would likely beat Mitt Romney by seven points. That does seem odd.

But consider this: It's June and nationally economic conditions appear to be getting worse, not better. We've not had a presidential debate yet, and Gov. Romney is still in the process of introducing himself to the voters. Obama's job performance, however, is well known.

And in 2008 Obama won Wisconsin by 14 points. If he's only up seven now, that's a big erosion of support. It's risky to extrapolate nationally based on one state, but it only stands to reason that Obama has experienced some erosion in other key states too. Perhaps neighboring Iowa and Michigan are more competitive than previously believed.

In 2008 John McCain was fighting to hold onto traditionally GOP states like Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia. It seems in 2012 Barack Obama will have to fight for traditionally Democrat states like Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and perhaps Pennsylvania. We'll find out over the next 153 days!

Listen To The "End Of Day"

Sorry, folks. We had some technical glitches with our new audio feature today. (Probably the result of angry liberals still seething from last night's defeat!) We'll be up and running again tomorrow.

Tell Pennsylvania Sens. Bob Casey and Pat Toomey :

Open Jobs Held by Illegal Aliens to Unemployed Pennsylvania Residents

A nationwide poll conducted by Pulse Opinion Research found that practically all groups of Americans favor mandating the E-Verify system, a free tool that will reduce the presence of illegal aliens in Pennsylvania's workforce. The poll, conducted on February 16, 2012, found that 78% of likely voters favor the use of mandatory worker verification, which will open up more Pennsylvania jobs for unemployed Pennsylvania residents.

It's easy to understand why E-Verify has widespread support in Pennsylvania, especially with tens of thousands of Pennsylvania residents struggling to find a full-time job. E-Verify is the smart and sensible approach to immigration enforcement that many in Pennsylvania have demanded, yet Senators Casey and Toomey have ignored these concerns. Among likely voters who expressed an opinion:

  • 94% of Republicans support E-Verify
  • 84% of Independents support E-Verify
  • 81% of Democrats support E-Verify

Why have Senators Casey and Toomey both failed to support E-Verify? Sens. Casey and Toomey must begin putting Pennsylvania workers before illegal aliens. Supporting E-Verify would be a great place to start. Send this critical message below to Pennsylvania Senators Casey and Toomey today, urging them both to support mandatory E-Verify. This is a completely free service. There is no cost to you.

Dear Senators Casey and Toomey,

I wanted to let you know about the results of a new poll on mandatory workplace verification: more than three-quarters of all American voters support it! Isn't this enough reason to support mandatory E-Verify legislation and make sure it makes its way through Congress?

Mandating workplace verification is simply an issue of fairness. Right now, unemployed Americans and legal immigrants don't even have first refusal to U.S. jobs. How is this fair? Shouldn't Americans get first crack at jobs in their own country? Mandating E-Verify will make that happen.

Among likely voters who have an opinion, 94% of Republicans, 84% of independents, and 81% of Democrats support making E-Verify mandatory. This is not a partisan issue and nobody in Congress should be using it as such. The 20 million Americans who cannot find a full-time job do not deserve it.

Please support E-Verify and help these Americans get back to work.

Sincerely,
(Your Name Will Appear Here)

COMMENTARY:

Obama, FDR Set Modern Records for GDP Spending
By Terence P. Jeffrey
With the end of the Cold War, federal spending started to drop as a percentage of GDP. George H.W. Bush spent an average of 21.93 percent, and Bill Clinton, 19.41 percent. It began climbing again with George W. Bush. Counting fiscal 2009, Bush spent an average of 20.51 percent of GDP. Then we get to Obama's 24.17 percent.

Teacher's Unions Earn "F" for Wisconsin Recall Abuse
By Michelle Malkin
From their first unhinged salvos 16 months ago in the Wisconsin Capitol and right up until Election Day, the union bosses have made one thing clear as a playground whistle: It's not about the children. It's never about the children. It's about protecting the power, perks and profligacy of public employee union monopolies.

Walker Wins!
By Rich Galen
Much of the Political Punditry Class has been touting this as a preview of the 2012 Presidential election, but now that the Republican won, don't expect to hear too much of that kind of talk. The question which continues to hang in the air will be how much damage has been done to the already brittle alliance between Obama and the unions.

On Today's Program    Crying Walker opponent: This is the end of democracy!
Glenn BeckGovernor Scott Walker's victory in Wisconsin quickly turned into a pity party for the left. And while most took to the airways in full fledge spin mode, others had still not come to terms with the embarrassing defeat. Perhaps the most entertaining interview came courtesy of CNN and a random protester, who took it as an opportunity to cry about the end of his beloved democracy. Glenn played the audio on radio this morning.

Do you want to make a difference? Take this 4 step program:

  • Monday's show: COMMIT! Before you can take a stand and take action, you must commit. Before you stand up, you MUST know what you stand for.
  • Tuesday's show: ACTIVATE! How can you turn the 2012 election from a close call to a mandate?  Glenn's partnered with David Barton to make it easy to find out if you're registered to vote and to register if you're not. It's time to activate - pledge to adopt a friend and get started now.
  • Tonight's show: LIVE IT! Cities across the country are outlawing people from giving food to the homeless. We cannot go over the cliff with the rest of humanity. What are the 4 things you can do to prevent this from happening?  Find out live at 5pm ET or available on demand.
  • Thursday's show: What's the 4th step? Get all the details HERE.

6pm ET - Real News: Scott Walker survived the recall 53% to 46% - a margin wider than his first victory in November of 2010. What message does this send to the public sector unions? How will this impact the November election? Find out tonight!

Happy days are here again! Gloat Fest 2012
Last night was a big election for the left, with many in the media claiming that it was the most important election before November. The left was ready and the unions were organized. But at the end of the day, it wasn't enough to get Wisconsin to recognize that Scott Walker had actually done some good things in office and (shocker) maybe progressive politics weren't the answer. You bet happy days are here again!

BLOG: MSNBC's 5 Stages of Grief...

MSNBC coverage of the election
Sadness, shock, disappointment, anger are all words that could describe the "forward" leaning hosts of MSNBC last night. It was a rough night for liberal hosts. Glenn, Pat and Stu however had a wonderful evening. It was the one time conservatives could watch MSNBC - not for the content, but the comedy.

And you thought Ed Schultz couldn't be anymore of a buffoon...
Pat and Stu discuss what Schultz did to push the boundaries of buffoonery last night on MSNBC's coverage of the Wisconsin recall vote.

Bill Clinton is out to sabotage Barack Obama's chances in November, right? He's not even hiding it...
Either Bill Clinton has the biggest ego known to man, or he doesn't want Barack Obama to win a 2nd term in office. Does even Clinton realize we're in for a rough ride if Obama wins? Or is he just trying to make himself look better? Or is it both? Glenn reacts to Clinton's bizarre sabotage on radio today. WATCH

IMPORTANT: Don't stop now!
Yes, Wisconsin was a big win! Celebrate! Gloat! But DO NOT stop turning things around. We must activate and get organzied! Did you know that huge percentages of conservatives aren't even registered to vote, and some who think they are registered aren't? You can't win if you aren't actively engaged in finding solutions - and last night Glenn gave easy, concrete things you can do to make sure Obama does not win in 2012. But you MUST take action! MORE

COWARD: Obama runs from Wisconsin
Barack Obama doesn't have a spine! The second things look bad, he runs away. First, he had a memo drafted that cleared him of responsibility if the bin Laden hit went bad. Then, he claims he's "evolving" on gay marriage...until his idiotic VP makes him look bad. Now, during the most important election before November, Obama runs away rather than show up and face the music along with the rest of the progressives. Maybe he was packing up his office in preparation for November. READ

It's Time to Name Names
Cowards come in all forms, but they typically all have one thing in common: they're afraid of the truth. Next Tuesday, Glenn's new book COWARDS: What Politicians, Radicals, and the Media Refuse to Say will expose the truth about some of the biggest cowards in the world. This book is not only full of the things Glenn believes, but also those that no one else will say. You want the truth on the border, George Soros, Jim Wallis, economic terrorism, Shariah law and the caliphate? This is where you'll find it. Pre-order your copy now at 42% off and get it in time for Father's Day. Educate yourself, educate your friends, and maybe we can open enough eyes before this next election.
