Chicago Police Echo White House Saying First Amendment Rights Can Be Terminated
posted on by da Tagliare
There is one thing that Barack Obama has been successful at since taking the helm of the nation and that is trampling on the US Constitution and the constitutional rights of American citizens. The Constitution requires the President to obey and protect the laws of the land. Nowhere does it say that he can ignore or pick and choose which laws he wants to keep and which ones he can disregard. That's one of the reasons our Founding Fathers established three branches of government and not one.
Obama has often expressed his desire to do away with the Second Amendment right to carry and bear arms. More recently, he seems to be also trying to do away with the First Amendment rights to free speech, freedom of religion and the freedom to redress grievances against the government.
Islam will overwhelm Christendom unless Christians recognize the demographic realities, begin reproducing again, and share the gospel with Muslims.
Patriots,
The time is finally here. Our phone system is up and ready to go!
The folks in Wisconsin could use our help making calls to help motivate people to get our and vote on June 5th.
How to get started:
The most effective times to make calls are between 5pm and 8:30pm central time. We will send you an email each day to remind you!
Click hereto read the instructions for how to operate the phone system. It is important that you read through all of the instructions before you get started.
Click herefor the script. It is important that you stick to the script and remember that we aren't advocating for a particular candidate. We are calling to identify who will be voting and what issues are important to them.
We can't stress enough that the most effective times are between 5pm and 8:30pm central time.
Answers to Common Questions:
The phone number that you will dial to connect to the system is toll free.
The phone system will not display your personal phone number, so you don't have to worry about people calling you back.
You can connect to the system from any touch tone phone.
One hour commitments will be the most successful blocks of time for YOU and for Wisconsin.
Five short days from now, voters in Wisconsin will head to the polls to decide the fate of embattled Governor Scott Walker.
Our goal is to man each and every voting location with a trained poll watcher to ensure the integrity of the election.
A partisan showdown late last year culminated in nearly 1,000,000 petition signatures collected to force a recall election on Walker.
Among those signatures were thousands of phony names, inaccurate addresses, convicted felons, and even a signature from Donald Duck (who claims to live at a Starbucks near the Capitol in Madison).
Between these discrepancies and Wisconsin's long history of election fraud, this race has gained national attention as the race to watch.
Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, a Walker supporter or a union ally, we need your help to ensure Tuesday's election is FREE and FAIR.
The outcome of this recall election will have a huge impact on federal and state races throughout the country from June 6-November 6.
It would a shame-and un-American-if tainted results influence November's elections.
That's why it's critical that we stand together to prevent voter fraud from desecrating Tuesday's election in Wisconsin. With your help, True the Vote will man each and every polling place.
P.S. We don't have a lot of time to raise the funds to man every single voting location in Wisconsin with poll watcher's ahead of Tuesday's recall election on Governor Scott Walker.

June 5th meeting, General Wayne Tea Party - A special guest speaker!
We look forwardto having Nancy Becker as the "Main event" at our June 5th meeting at JC's Fireside Bistro.
Nancy has thrived in the private sector as well as in government, and has held Republican leadership posts at many levels. She's also a wife, a mother of two, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of one.
Currently working in government for Montgomery County, she manages a staff of twenty-six.
She will take a lot of the mystery out of politics for us, and explain why it's so critical that we become involved with what's happening in our own back yard. And how to go about it!
After she spoke a year ago with our sister Tea Party in Central Montgomery County, which is led by Jim and Pam Devlin, the reaction of their members about Nancy Becker's presentation was "Absolute dynamite".
Please mark your calendar for June 5th, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., JC's Fireside Bistro, Valley Forge Shopping Center, King of Prussia.

P.S. Nancy Becker's bio and accomplishments appear below. She's obviously one of those people to whom the term "Extremely high energy level" is correctly applied.
Nancy Becker
Elected as the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds in 2003, Nancy Becker is an accomplished, professional administrator and manager with over 35 years experience in real estate, financial management, and strategic planning.
Currently she directs the Recorder of Deeds Office, full time, with a staff of twenty-six (26), who maintain the integrity of all land records and other documents entrusted to the department, as well as the collection and monthly distribution of County/State fees and Real Estate Transfer Taxes for the State, Townships, Boroughs, Municipalities and School Districts; while professionally serving the public with efficiency, accountability, and responsibility.
Over these past 8 years, as the Recorder of Deeds, Nancy has implemented new revenue sources, saved taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars ($750,000.00 alone in 2006), managed and cut costs; increased efficiency, timely recording and high accuracy rates; prioritized advanced, user-friendly systems, constituent services, security, and disaster recovery; and initiated procedures to protect residents from real estate fraud.
She initiated, coordinated, and spear-headed public effort for sponsorship and support of Senate Bill 1331, which prohibits the state from imposing and collecting state sales and Use Taxes for certain public services performed by any county governmental agency and/or court, and House Bill 1634 (Act 110), which eliminates the need to pre-register a deed prior to recording, thereby saving the residents of Montgomery County tens of thousands of dollars.
November 2011 she initiated a class action suit against MERS and the large banks that have not recorded mortgage assignments. She was featured in Bloomberg Businessweek November 2011 and Westlaw Journal December 2011 for her efforts to maintain the chain of title on mortgages and her attempt to collect in excess of $15 million dollars in recording fees for Montgomery County.
Under her direction, the Recorder of Deeds office has become a model of document management:
One of the highest tech land records offices in the country.
One of the first in the state to electronically record land documents (eRecord) accelerating document recording, creating efficiencies, reducing errors, and dramatically improving the county's ability to serve its constituents. "eRecording" is a government priority at both the Federal and State levels. It is just one of the priorities that I am initiating to comply with the Montgomery County Commissioners' eGoverment initiative.
One of the first in the state to apply artificial intelligence software, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) to automatically capture document data.
One of the first counties in state to participate in its eNotary initiative.
Digitizing land plans in order to make them available through direct computer entry allowing faster access to information.
Digitized land records dating back from 1784.
Implemented Disaster Tolerant/Recovery plan by total "redundant replication" of data and images.
Offer office information and forms online and in the process of integrating a digital archiving system.
Founded the first Property Records Educational Partners (PREP) organization in Pennsylvania, to maintain technological advancement, education, and user-friendly constituent service.
Nancy believes that responsibility of citizenship means being involved in the community. She has been a member of numerous community boards and commissions.
To mention some, she is the President of the PA Recorder of Deeds Association, President of the Northern Montgomery County Drug & Alcohol Task Force, Southeast Regional Chairperson of the Property Records Educational Partners; member of the Board of Directors of the Property Reorders Industry Association, Co-Chair of the Law Enforcement Collaborative, working with the FBI Mortgage and Land Fraud Task Force, a member of the Montgomery County Drug & Alcohol Planning Committee, the Northern Montco Technical Career Center Educational Opportunities Council, the North Penn School District Drug Free & Safe Schools Committee, the Towamencin Township Park and Recreation Advisory Council and Planning Commission, the American Society of Professional & Executive Women and the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Elected Officials & Clerks.
Nancy has also played a significant part in raising millions of dollars in grants and contributions for public causes.
She has also been deeply involved in the political process and the Montgomery County Republican Party:
Montgomery County Republican Women's Leadership (1994- Present)
Treasurer (2009 - Present)
Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman's Club
Montgomery County Republican Committee Area 9 Vice Chairperson (1994-1998)
Montgomery County Republican Committee New Majority Council

Republican State Committee (1996 to Present)
Republican Committee Woman, Towamencin Township 1-2 (1988 to Present)
Treasurer (1992-Present)
Republican Poll Worker (1971-Present)
Served on more than thirty (30) Republican campaign committees for Federal, State, County, and local candidates during thirty-two (32) years of Republican service
Nancy and her husband Mike have lived in Towamencin, Montgomery County for over 34 years.

3) The Wisconsin recall vote of Gov Scott Walker is next week, June 5.
The Tea Party Army is on the ground in Wisconsin and working hard. Liberal idiot DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has declared this recall election as a dry run for the November election. If the left wins this, it will empower them for November. If they lose, it will take some wind out of their sails. PLEASE DONATE to the Tea Party Patriots' voter education work up there. We grassroots groups don't have the Union and Washington-funding that the left has. Please click here to donate what you can.
4) Philip and Ryan's Monday night "Tea Party meets Church" meeting
I assume this is happening this Monday June 4, 7pm at the Rock (857 Main Street, Harleysville). To confirm, please email Philip: philipherot@live.com
5) We as a group won't be doing First Fridays this year.
It's under new "ownership" and participation has increased in price dramatically from last year. It's not financially tenable or worth our effect at $60/night plus the requirement of insurance and stuff. We'll come up with a different, freer way of answering people's questions.

"Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up." (Marco Rubio)
There are very few politicians that have risen to national prominence as quickly as Marco Rubio. At age forty-one there is huge interest in and speculation about his political future. Will he be tapped by Mitt Romney to be his running mate? Will he run for President in 2016?
His story is detailed in his new book 'An American Son." Rubio is the son of parents who fled Cuba in the 1950's. Using the work ethic and tenacity instilled in him by his parents and grandfather, Rubio earned a law degree. As a young attorney he ran for the West Miami City Commission, a role that led to the Florida House of Representatives. In just six years he rose to Speaker of the House and became a leading advocate for free enterprise, better schools, limited government, and a fairer, simpler tax system. He found that he could connect with people across party lines while still upholding conservative values.
His U.S. Senate campaign started as an extreme long shot againstFlorida's popular incumbent governor, Charlie Crist. Rubio traveled the state with his message of empowerment and optimism. He upset Crist in both the primary and a dramatic three-way general election, after Crist quit the GOP to run as an independent.
Now Rubio speaks on the national stage about the challenges we face and the better future that's possible if we return to our founding principles. As he puts it , "Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up."
In that vision, as in his family's story, Rubio proves that the American Dream is still alive for those who pursue it.
Tickets are $25.00 and include a hard cover copy of his brand new book 'An American Son."
Tom Smith's background is a common one in Pennsylvania and across the country, but one that is all too rare in the United States Senate-which may explain a great deal about how our country came to this point in our history.
Tom still lives on the farm in Armstrong County where he grew up. After graduating from Elderton High School in 1965, he postponed college to help his father tend that farm and supplemented his income by driving a school bus. Before too long, Tom had married his high school sweetheart, Saundy, started a family, and went to work in a local surface coal mine.
In 1989, Tom entered the coal business himself, mortgaging everything he had in the hope that he could build a better life for himself and his family. He succeeded, building a series of companies in a highly regulated industry through some tough economic times. When he sold the companies in 2010, they were mining more than a million tons of coal a year and employed over one-hundred people.
By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.
Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.
It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents. The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.
We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

Dinesh D'Souza - Obama & 2016
A Special Message from Americans United for Freedom Contributor KrisAnne Hall
Heading into the most important election of our lifetime, Barack Obama and a terrified Congress want to make sure angry Americans can never again gather en mass to change the course of history as we did with the 1.2 million member 912 March and the demonstrations that flipped Congress in 2010. No, our tyrannical politicians want to force you to stay home and shut up.
The protected right of the people peaceably to assemble is unalienable, something that has afforded deep fundamental and historical foundations to our freedom. Our Founders established a clear "no trespassing sign" via our First Amendment to keep the government away from this God-given right essential to Liberty. "Congress shall make no law abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." But new legislation has been passed in Congress that will destroy this absolutely central, simple and non-negotiable right imperative to a free people.
HR 347 and S 1794, the "Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011" has nothing to do with improving landscaping around federal buildings. This bill is being presented as a No Trespassing bill. Reasonable people understand that lawful restrictions and protections are needed for government officials and government functions. However, this legislation makes it a federal crime to allegedly DISRUPT the "ORDERLY CONDUCT" of government.
The violator doesn't have to be physically on the grounds where the government business is being conducted, just within the vicinity of the self-proclaimed "business of government." The law is not limited to buildings or locations as the title suggests, but seems to be "roving" and follows persons protected by Secret Service wherever they may go.
Standing on a sidewalk with a sign as a Congressman walks by? BUSTED
Traffic slowing to read your Tea Party signs? BUSTED
Make a statement at a town hall meeting that your Congressman doesn't like? BUSTED
1752(a)(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;
1752(a)(3) knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds;
1752(c)(1) the term 'restricted buildings or grounds' means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area - (B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance;
The right protected in the First Amendment is the right to peaceably assemble. We do not have the right to impede the flow of traffic, either on sidewalks or roadways. We do not have the right to impede anyone's business practices. But this law is not about private business, it is about government operations. Make that Big Brother Government Operations.
This Congress has a habit of writing in vague and overbroad terms; yet, in order for laws to be Constitutionally sound they CANNOT be vague and overbroad in ANY aspect, and they can ONLY interfere with the rights of the people in as narrow a capacity as both necessary and according with Constitutional principle. But this law makes it a crime to disrupt the government. The Supreme Court has said this type of broad language gives too much power to the government, and they have been saying this since 1939. This law actually places the desire of the government to be free from disruption unconstitutional power over the right of the people to redress the government of their grievances.
Suppose your Congressman, who is under Secret Service protection, has a town hall meeting and many members of the community show up to challenge him on his voting record. This law could be construed to allow federal charges to be brought against these citizens for disrupting his town hall meeting by attending and demanding to be heard under the First Amendment. After all, it will not be hard to claim that people who are not happy with the Congressman's voting record had the "intent" to disrupt this meeting. This vague and overbroad language has the potential to ultimately prevent people from gathering outside any government building or politician's function for fear of being charged with a federal offense. In Constitutional law, we call that a "chilling effect" and the Supreme Court has always held these restrictions to be unconstitutional. After all, who can afford to risk going to jail, to carry a record of federal arrest, to stand for their rights - even if they will win?
The right to orderly conduct of government is NOT a constitutionally protected right. However we DO have the right to free speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Our Constitution enshrines in government the fundamental principle of protection for our God-given, unalienable rights freely to speak and assemble. These rights of We the People are held as foundation stones of our individual Liberty and the government must protect these rights, not limit them. And throughout history, our Supreme Court has protected these rights.
Hague v. CID, 307 U.S. 496 (1939)
Boos v. Barry, 485 U.S. 312, 318 (1988)
United States v. Grace, 461 U.S. 171, 177 (1983)
Educ. Ass'n v. Perry Local Educators' Ass'n, 460 U.S. 37, (1983)
In every single case, the Court ruled that the people's First Amendment right to protest fundamentally outweighs the government's right to avoid uncomfortable situations at which politicians may be called to account for their actions.
People have the right to complain, the right to have their voices be heard, the right to redress their grievances in the form of protests. These actions are supposed to make the government take notice. Disruption cannot be the standard to stop speech. To allow the government to create this new standard allows the government to tell us to sit down and shut up.
The chilling effect occurs not in the fact that you are denied your due process. If you are arrested because of unlawful legislation you can fight the prosecution and even sue the government for violating your rights. If the Supreme Court has not become completely corrupted you have fairly good odds of winning. But, as anyone who has been wronged by a government agency can tell you, a victory will often come at the expense of a ruined life and livelihood.
The bottom line is that there are laws in every municipality that punish Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, and any other crime involving real threats against government and persons in government. Why do we need a vague and overbroad FEDERAL LAW to enforce laws that are already in effect, when that law could encroach on our God-given, protected rights? William Penn said, "Necessity, it is said, is the plea for every infringement of human Liberty; it is the argument of tyrants and the creed of slaves." Clearly, we don't need a "Federal Trespass Bill." We already have one; it's called the Bill of Rights!
When will we have enough of government intrusion on our Constitutionally protected rights? We were outraged because we are Taxed Enough Already. When will we recognize that if we cannot trust the government with our finances, then we certainly cannot trust the government with our Liberty?

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.
Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.
Tonight, Sunday June 3rd, CUFI Founder and Chairman, Pastor John Hagee, will be announcing an exciting new CUFI initiative. You can click here to watch it live at 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific). This link will not be live until 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific) tonight.
Tonight, Pastor Hagee will be announcing the creation of the Israel Defense Fund. This emergency fund will enable CUFI to meet the major challenges we anticipate in the coming months.
CUFI has accomplished great things for Israel. But the times in which we live demand that we do even more -- and do so now!
We need to do more to defend Israel in the public square and in the media. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to purchase more pro-Israel billboards across America as well as full-page newspaper ads as circumstances demand.
We need to do more to defend Israel on our college campuses. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to train even more students and hold even more pro-Israel events on campuses across the country.
We need to do more to defend Israel before our leaders. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to be more active than ever in educating our nation's leaders about the justice of Israel's cause.
Even if you can't watch the broadcast, don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of the Israel Defense Fund! Click here now to contribute.
We will not be silent. Together, we will do more than ever to stand up and speak up for Israel.
May God Bless You and Those that You Love,

"...After 8 hours in that chair ............. I was ready for another 8 hours - it seemed to end too soon..."
"I was literally stunned. Wow! Brigitte Gabriel has assembled an incredible team to support her message of action and hope!"
"...As much as the issue depresses me, and I could cry every time I think about what is happening to the West, I left yesterday's conference energized and inspired. The day reminded me that I am *not* alone, after all, in trying to resist the dangerous absurdity of radical Islam that is being forced on us. I'm in desperate need of such reminders, as I'm sure most of us are. Whenever I'm close to despair, I remind myself of Brigitte's message. Thank you so much for this incredible training day!"
"...What an amazing seminar!"
"...I have never spent a better $45, 104 miles and 12 hours!" (Previous pricing for a similar event. We're wanting to involve as many as possible from this region, so for this event only, it's free!)
You can find out more and register online by clicking here.
Call the number above to reserve your room at the Marriott if you need to spend the night.
Your early registration really helps us plan accurately for materials and supplies needed! Thank you for doing it today!
I look forward to meeting you and looking into your eyes and thanking you for taking this stand with me. We will protect this nation!
Sincerely,
Brigitte Gabriel

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

By revealing the Nazi and Marxist origins of groups such as the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine and the connections between these organizations and terrorist activities around the globe, Muslim Hate Groups on Campus sheds light on the dark undercurrent of anti-Semitism which flows unobstructed through our most prestigious institutions of higher education.
The current round of class warfare taking place in this country can hardly be called that because it is taking place within a single class. This is no great conflict between the construct of a 1 and 99 percent, this is a civil war taking place within the 1 percent. The very name of the Buffett Rule makes that all too obvious. When your class warfare bid relies on 1 percenters like Warren Buffett and Elizabeth Warren, then what you have isn't a class war, it's an internal conflict among some of the wealthiest Americans over whether the future lies with an all-encompassing state or a looser libertarian system.
Buffett's position as the champion of the government class isn't as irrational as it might seem. For the average taxpayer, the tax code is a vacuum cleaner, but for Buffett it's an investment. The more money people pay in, the more money the government has available to salvage troubled banks that he can swoop in on at a hefty profit. The average taxpayer loses money to the government, but Buffett gets back money from the government.
Plenty of 1 percenter New York Times readers whose worldview is shaped by buffoons like Paul Krugman and Thomas Friedman have taken on the worldview that we need government expansion to drive the economy and remain competitive. And for them it's even true.
If you're investing in windmills, then government spending looks like it's creating economic growth, which it is, just not for the massive numbers of unemployed and not in a sustainable way. But most people, rich or poor, generalize from their own personal experience. If you're pounding the pavement looking for work, and then have to sign over a check to the IRS, then you're not likely to have a positive view of the government as an economic arbitrator, but if you're investing in environmental gimmicks, picking up government money and turning a profit without having a viable product, then you can only admire how well the government is stimulating economic growth.
To people like that, taxes aren't a loss, they're an investment. Pay more to Uncle Sam and he'll roll out a stimulus plan to buy more windmills, and then everyone wins, except the people who have to pay for the windmills or rely on them for electricity. And it's natural for them to think that if everyone just paid more money, the government would have more money to invest in windmills and other important things that they can profit from. They don't think of it as crony capitalism, to them it's just good business.
Government class 1 percenters, whether they are directly or indirectly employed by the government, or just acting as crony capitalists, are making money from the government. The problem is that it's ill gotten loot. Government sinecures and insider profiteering are as old as the republic, as old as every nation on earth and then older some, but the participants used to have a better idea of what they were doing and why.
The ideological wrapping paper gives the system a degree of intellectual and economic credibility that it does not deserve. The Tammany Hall crony trading contributions for government contracts understood what he was doing and why, his successors lie to themselves that they are supporting a progressive cause and making the world a better place. They aren't corrupt, it's their enemies who want to destroy the environment, starve the poor and destroy the country for their own profit who are the rotten ones.
The government class 1 percenters really believe that if we just invested more in infrastructure and education, threw out our remaining immigration laws and provided comprehensive social services for everyone, we could have a first class economy, just like Europe. Their globe trotting court jesters like Krugman and Friedman breezily recite anecdotes and channel FDR's ghost to make unsustainable spending seem less like a pyramid scheme and more like a promising payoff. But they believe all of this because they have to, the alternative is to come to grips with a vision of themselves as vultures feeding off the carcass of the republic through cronyism and corruption.
Fellow Americans, it's time for us to admit we made a mistake. In 2008, we were very dissatisfied with the country's direction. Wars had dragged on for years, the economy was tanking, people were losing their houses and their jobs. It was a bad time.
Along came a charming young man named Barack Obama. He promised "Hope and Change." He said, "I know how to fix the economy" and "I know how to put people back to work," and "No more back room deals - we will have transparency" and "I'll solve the home mortgage crisis" and "I can get Congress to work together" and "I'll get the lobbyists out of Washington." He was articulate and likeable. His campaign for president was marvelous. His ability to raise money for his campaign was extraordinary and we elected him president.
Unfortunately, his ability to govern has proven to be terribly flawed. He has failed to made good on any of his promises. We still have an economy in the ditch. There are still 25 million Americans unemployed or under-employed. Washington is more polarized than ever. Home prices are still falling and folks are still losing their homes. Transparency is a joke and the lobbyists are more abundant than ever. He is not providing the leadership we expected.
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center appwill, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.
It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.
Barack Obama and his campaign have overplayed their hand in one crucial aspect. They spent years getting their friends in the media to believe and sell them as the most experienced campaign team in the world. Look at the 2008 Primary. The Obama campaign would have you believe they beat Paul Begala and James Carville of Team Clinton. They may have beaten Team Hillary Clinton, but they did not beat Begala-Carville. You'd never know that from all the hype.
It always makes me nervous for Republicans to be so giddy headed into an election. As we've seen from the President, overconfidence is a bad thing. Scott Walker could still lose. People must turn out to vote.
Today is election day in Wisconsin and if you are a RedState Reader in that state, go vote.
One of the things I hate about special elections is the absolute intellectual crap that will come from pundits on television tonight and tomorrow. Democrats who claimed the recall was a rejection of Republican overreach nationally now claim the recall cannot be interpreted as a reflection on national politics. Republicans are the opposite.
I remember being on CNN for several of the New York special elections in Republican districts that went Democrat. The Democrats on TV with me were gleeful that they were harbingers of big Democrat wins in 2010. It was exactly opposite when Anthony Weiner's seat went GOP. Suddenly the Democrats would have you believe it was insignificant while the Republican would have you believe otherwise.
Through them all, I've maintained that special elections tell us very little about national politics. But there is one area where I think Wisconsin can show us a great deal about the national electoral outlook headed into November.
This is one of the more amusing factoids that you're going to read this morning: "According to a BuzzFeed analysis of campaign finance data, 88% of the people who gave $200 or more in 2008 - 537,806 people - have not yet given that sum this year. And this drop-off isn't simply an artifact of timing. A full 87% of the people who gave $200 - the sum that triggers an itemized report to the Federal Elections Commission - through April of 2008, 182,078 people, had not contributed by the end of last month. It's a factoid that is subject to some interpretation, of course. Certainly the Obama for America campaign is in full-fledged meltdown/spin mode on the subject; they're pointing out that those people could be contributing less than $200*. Which could very well be true.
You hear the left complaining about conservatives selectively editing video. The Center for American Progress has posted complaints about video editing, yet today they engaged in selective video editing. They posted a video titled "Heritage Foundation 'expert' Cannot Cite Any Examples of Actual Voter Fraud."
The problem is that the "Heritage Foundation 'expert'" did cite voter fraud and the Center for American Progress edited it out.

Over the past two years, a policy battle of enormous significance for the future of health care and liberty in the United States has played out in state legislatures and governor's mansions across the country. The question: whether states will bow to President Obama's wishes and implement his versions of health insurance exchanges - rife with bureaucratic regulations, delivery mechanisms for the whims of Kathleen Sebelius, and, of course, subsidized heavily by you the taxpayer - or whether they will resist, refusing to waste taxpayer dollars, holding out for the day when Obamacare is no more.

Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, marked the beginning of the Great Depression, but for Barack Obama, last Friday was Black Friday because the U.S. Department of Labor announced that only 69,000 jobs were added in May, well below expectations that it might reach 150,000. The official unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2 percent, but it is actually far closer to 15 percent.
The news means that Obama's hope of being reelected ranges between slim to none. Beyond the current numbers, on Friday CNS News reported that 766,000 more women are unemployed than when he took office in 2009.

Caliphate Conference in Chicago
On May 30th, the following was posted on "Jihad Watch":
Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international Islamic organization that openly calls for restoration of the caliphate -- that is, the political union of Muslims worldwide in a single Sharia state ruled by the caliph. This means that the group is dedicated to subverting and destroying all governments not ruled by Islamic law, and as such it is banned in many countries. But not in the U.S., which has never shown any awareness on an official level of non-violent efforts to impose Sharia. They're once again coming to the Chicago area to hold their Caliphate Conference: it will be held on June 17 in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
Given the Obama administration's on-going purge of all references to radical Islam in counterterrorism training materials, the fact that Hizb ut-Tahrir is not banned in America isn't surprising.
After all, according to the administration, our only concern is al Qaeda.

OBAMA, ISRAEL, AND THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR DILEMMA
By: Joseph Puder
The recently held negotiations of the P5+1 (U.S., Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany) and the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad followed similar talks that took place last month in Istanbul - both of which produced one clear result - the enabling of Iran to buy more time in its pursuit of nuclear arms.
The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) reportedly found traces of enriched uranium at a 27% level in Iran's Fordow facility. According to the Center for American Progress, which reflects the views of President Obama, "The United States and the International community have time to continue negotiations with Iran and let sanctions pressure the Tehran regime to come clean about its program."
These kinds of statements and the West's squandering of time as Iran's centrifuges spin, has led the Netanyahu government to believe that the West is about to give in to Iran.
For Israel, time is of the essence. Israelis are not only worried about the lack of concrete results from the talks with Iran; they are deeply concerned about Obama's habitual appeasement of Iran. Obama has tried his best to avoid imposing hard hitting sanctions (he had to be publicly rebuked by Senator Menendez (NJ) to sign the latest piece of legislation) and has been obvious in his avoidance of a military confrontation with Iran - thereby empowering the Islamic Republic, who also want to avoid a conflict - so that they can complete their nuclear program.
The New York Daily News reported on May 30, 2012 that, "As a candidate Obama pledged to meet personally with Iranian leaders and predicted that Iranians would start changing their behavior if they started seeing that they had some incentives to do so." As president, Obama declared in his June 4, 2009 speech in Cairo, Egypt of the need to "overcome decades of mistrust." In this narrative, according to the Daily News, "Talks are successful insofar as they end not in collapse but in a sustained negotiating process..."
Earlier, on March 20, 2009, Obama videotaped a message to the Iranian people and leaders in honor of Nowruz.the Iranian New Year. In the message he declared that, "My administration is now committed to diplomacy that addresses the full range of issues before us, and to pursuing constructive ties...this process will not be advanced by threats, we seek instead engagement that is honest and grounded in mutual respect." There was no mention in Obama's message of Iran's quest for nuclear weapons.
Commenting on Obama's gesture to Iran, the liberal New York Times columnist Roger Cohen wrote (March 23, 2009) "President Obama achieved four things essential to any rapprochement. He abandoned regime change, as an American goal. He shelved the so-called military option. He buried a carrot-and-stick approach viewed with contempt by Iranian as fit only for donkeys. And he placed Iran's nuclear program within the full range of issues before us."
The Iranian response was to mock Obama as a hypocrite. Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader said, "They (Obama and his administration) say we have stretched a hand towards Iran ...If a hand is stretched covered with a velvet glove but it is cast iron inside that makes no sense." Ayatollah Khamenei furthermore asked Obama "Have you released Iranian assets? Have you lifted oppressive sanctions? Have you given up mudslinging and making accusations against the great Iranian nation and its officials?
It is becoming apparent that Obama is not inclined to use the military option, unless, in desperation, he does so in order to win the U.S. presidential election. For Israel, however, time is running out for a viable military solution to Iran's nuclear weapons program. Israelis must consider several difficult questions. First and foremost is the question of how the Obama administration will react to an Israeli attack? At best, a successful Israeli attack will delay the production of an Iranian nuclear weapon. If the U.S. would then tighten sanctions on Iran and mobilize the international community to deny the Iranian regime the materials to rebuild what Israeli attack destroyed, then it would be worthwhile for Israel to risk the lives of its pilots in order to end the threat to Israel and the western world from the fanatical theocracy of Iran.
In the absence of a solid U.S. commitment to support Israel in the days after such an attack has taken place, it would be sheer madness for Israel to risk Iranian as well Hezbollah missile attacks on Tel Aviv. It is understood that the Iranians would be able to rebuild their nuclear facilities within a year or two, and that an Israeli attack would unite all Iranians behind the regime with a renewed focus on manufacturing a nuclear bomb immediately. Conversely, strong U.S. backing of Israeli military action, and continued international vigilance that would prevent Iran from obtaining materials for a nuclear bomb, would shake up the regime, strengthen the opposition and empower the Sunni minorities (Kurds, Baluchis, and Ahwazi-Arabs) to increase their military pressure on the Ayatollahs regime.
U.S. Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman flew to Israel immediately following the conclusion of the Baghdad talks to brief the Israeli leadership on the results. It seems that the pressure put on Obama administration by the Israeli government to refrain from making any concessions to the Iranians unless they stop their uranium enrichment and an appeal to shorten the time-frame of the negotiations, is being carefully debated in Washington. Obama does not much care whether the Iranian regime acquires the bomb. What makes Obama jittery is an Israeli attack that might impact negatively on his reelection campaign.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the international community "would keep tightening tough economic sanctions on Iran." He added," We will continue to pressure Tehran, continue to move forward with sanctions that will be coming online as the year progresses, and we expect those to have the kind of effect on Iran in terms of making it clear to the regime what the price of a continued failure to meet its obligations will mean for the country and for its economy."
To frustrate Obama even further, and prove Israel's assertion that Iran is simply seeking to buy time, Iran's President Ahmadinejad declared on Wednesday May 30, 2012 that he does not expect talks next month in Moscow (June 18-19) on Iran's nuclear program to yield any breakthroughs. Reuters reported that Ahmadinejad reiterated "Iran's legal right to enrich uranium to 20% (level)."
Iran is, of course, lying to the world in the best tradition of taqiyya and kitman, which in the Quran (16:106) notes that under certain circumstances lying is permitted to gain the trust of non-believers in order to defeat them. The IAEA already established that Iran's uranium enrichment is at 27%, and that precludes nuclear sites yet unknown to the world. But for President Obama "talking" with the Iranians is a way of avoiding action. And if President Jimmy Carter "lost" pro-western Iran to the staunchly anti-American Ayatollahs, President Obama's legacy is to be the one who enabled Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb, and thus strengthen the hold of the oppressive Islamic regime over Iran.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas is now $3.66, and has been decreasing for eight straight weeks. This is causing some of the President Obama's advisors to declare energy prices an irrelevant issue. Political advisor David Axelrod recently tweeted: "Gas prices have been going down for the past six weeks. You think the GOP will blame the President?"
In those six weeks, the only significant energy policy change at the White House was to make new coal production nearly impossible and thus vastly increase the cost of electricity. So, it is hard to assign this slight dip to the president after a record 75 straight weeks of prices exceeding $3.00. However, it is true that the president is not entirely responsible for gas prices.
Market and economic conditions play a large role. With unemployment creeping back up, new global turmoil and summer travel on the wane due to a sagging economy, demand is surely dropping. But that does not mean, and has never meant, that the president's policies or Congressional action does not play any role in gas prices.
After three years of adding regulatory hurdles and blocking exploratory access and development, President Obama's policies are helping keep prices higher than necessary. Having only three percent of federal land available for oil exploration is not a "market condition."
But we are in luck. There are several steps Congress can immediately take, and President Obama can immediately support, that will help alleviate the pain felt at the pump by American families and would create economic growth, and importantly, jobs.
1. Lift offshore and onshore exploration and drilling bans: We remain the only nation in the world that has placed the majority of its territorial waters off limits to exploration. Congress should lift the ban on exploration in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, and conduct more lease sales off Alaska's coasts.
2. Approve Keystone XL: The Keystone pipeline has bipartisan support and continues to be consistently popular, polling at 60 percent in November 2011 and 57 percent in late March. 69 Democrats joined House Republicans on a vote of support in April with Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA) saying: "I think the president has made a very serious mistake here."
Yet, President Obama continues to block it and the jobs that come with it. Had Obama not delayed approval, up to 830,000 barrels of oil per day would have come from Canada to Gulf Coast refineries by as early as 2013. That's more than we bring in from Venezuela, our fourth largest importer.
3. Require timely environmental review: Environmental review requirements for oil and gas projects to commence on federal lands under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) take too long. Congress should place a reasonable 270-day time limit on NEPA reviews.
4. Permitting process: The processing time for an Application for Permit to Drill (APD) extends well past the 30-day time limit. Loris recommends: "Congress should require the Department of the Interior to honor the law's deadline unless the Interior finds fault with the application...[and] should ultimately transition the permitting process to state regulators, who are best able to balance economic growth and environmental well-being."
5. Issue leases on time: Rather than implementing an efficient leasing process, the Department of the Interior keeps adding administrative regulations to make the process more burdensome and bureaucratic. Congress should remove unnecessary red tape and if Interior fails to issue a lease within 60 days, it should be considered issued by default.
6. Allow development of oil shale: Oil shale production in the U.S. could be a global game changer since we hold the largest known reserves in the world. However, 70 percent of those reserves lie beneath federal lands. The Obama Administration has introduced new regulations, time frames, and significantly reduced the land available for leases. Congress should make permanent the 2008 guidelines for oil shale development in order to provide regulatory certainty.
7. Stop the land grab: Through Secretarial Order No. 3310, the Department of Interior is unilaterally and arbitrarily classifying federal land areas as "Wilderness" or "Wild Lands" restricting access to new drilling areas, preventing production on existing leases and halting economic growth. Congress should permanently block Secretarial Order No. 3310 and any similar designation should require congressional approval.
8. Implement 50/50 revenue sharing: States receive 50 percent of the revenues generated by onshore oil and natural gas production on federal lands and Congress should apply this allocation offshore as well. This would encourage more state involvement in drilling decisions and help state economies, whether by closing a deficit or aiding coastal restoration and conservation.
9. Prohibit greenhouse gas and Tier 3 gas regulations: In 2010, Interior suspended 61 leases in Montana alone because environmental groups charged that the energy production would contribute to climate change, demonstrating the need to permanently prohibit any federal agency from unilaterally regulating greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the proposed Tier 3 gas regulations to lower the amount of sulfur in gasoline are costly with no measurable benefits. Congress should prohibit the implementation of these regulations. Unelected bureaucrats should not hold such power over the economy.
10. Repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS): Soon, refiners will be fined when the amount of ethanol mandated exceeds the amount that can be refined for use but the mandate requires production of cellulosic ethanol, which no companies have been able to viably produce commercially. As a result, refiners paid more than $6 million in waiver credits or surcharges in 2011. It is an economic and environmental disaster and must be repealed.
President Obama is keen to accept credit for the windfall of oil production in North Dakota and in other private areas outside federal control, where jobs are plentiful and unemployment has plummeted. Meanwhile, production on federal land is decreasing and regulatory conditions are worsening. It would be to the president's benefit to embrace some or all of these reforms that could immediately help American families filling up the minivan. Another 75 weeks with gas prices over $3.00, and household goods and food costing more as a result, will not help an already anemic recovery.

Black Ministers Blast Elizabeth Warren's Apparent Abuse of Affirmative Action
by Breitbart News
Just days after the Democratic Party committed to Elizabeth Warren's floundering campaign for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, black ministers are attacking Warren's perceived abuse of affirmative action policies to promote herself on the basis of dubious membership in a minority group, the Boston Globereports. Warren's claims of Native American ancestry remain unproven--and many other claims about her family have been proven false.
The Globe reports:
"It is within bounds to raise the question of whether or not a white woman used the minority card for her professional advantage," said [Rev. Eugene F.] Rivers.
Barack Obama's deftly crafted high jump to fame may be rapidly collapsing according to GLOBE MAGAZINE's latest world exclusive expose. "Shocking new documents have surfaced proving . .Obama was born in Kenya."
The piece claims: Barack and Michelle Obama's marriage has hit the skids, (1) an insider informant is telling the GLOBE who was out front with telling Americans what no other MSM source would tell them about their governance! "Obama has taken a serious one-two punch," the insider says as congressional hearings are predicted in a very reluctant Congress that has not done due diligence in vetting the Presidency for its constituents. In fact, petitions already are circulating for Americans to Email sign for delivery (2) to MIA senators and congressional representatives! Toll free calls to Congress can be made with the 877-762-8762 number before they adjourn for their much needed summer school break.
During its Golden Age, the Dutch Republic of the Seven United Netherlands had settlements around the world, including a monopoly on trade with Asia, financed by the first modern stock market. The Dutch sent Henry Hudson to find a water route across America to the Pacific. Though unsuccessful, Hudson claimed the land along the "Hudson" River, and there the Dutch West India Company founded the New Netherlands Colony, receiving its charter JUNE 3, 1621. Franklin Roosevelt told the Detroit Jewish Chronicle, March 7, 1935: "All I know about the origin of the Roosevelt family in this country is that all branches bearing the name are apparently descended from Claes Martenssen Van Roosevelt, who came from Holland sometime before 1648." The Chamber of Amsterdam wrote in articles for the Dutch Colony, 1624: "They shall within their territory practice no other form of divine worship than that of the Reformed religion...and thus by their Christian ... "Until we address the crisis of the failure of our institutions to resolve the significant challenges we face, don't expect progress on any of them." Could any statement be more decidedly emblematic of leftist doctrine than the claim that only government and its institutions are equipped to solve the problems of life? Never mind that these are usually problems created by government in its endless quest to solve longstanding problems previously created by government! (1)
Two months ago, Barack Obama's signature "Affordable Care Act" made an unexpected appearance before the United States Supreme Court. Unexpected, that is, because few if any of the ruling class left which wrote and passed the massive statute believed such a compassionate endeavor could meet with serious criticism. That the American people overwhelmingly opposed the left's assault on their liberty was, of course, not considered "serious."

Unemployment is up
"You would think $1 trillion in spending stimulus and $2.5 trillion of Fed pump-priming would produce an economy a whole lot stronger than 1.9 percent gross domestic product, which was the revised first-quarter number. And you'd think all that government spending would deliver a whole lot more jobs than 69,000 in May. But it hasn't happened. The Keynesian government-spending model has proven a complete failure. It's the Obama model. And it has produced such an anemic recovery that, frankly, at 2 percent growth, we're back on the front end of a potential recession. ... The unemployment rate rose slightly from 8.1 to 8.2 percent [in May]. The so called U6 unemployment rate, tracking the marginally employed or completely discouraged, increased to 14.8 percent from 14.5 percent. And labor earnings are barely rising at 1.7 percent over the past year, almost in line with the inflation rate. ... Barack Obama doesn't get this, but businesses create jobs. And firms have to be profitable in order to hire. Yet the president is on the campaign trail criticizing Mitt Romney by degrading the importance of profits. ... The Fed may yet launch a new quantitative easing to stop commodity deflation and accommodate the gigantic worldwide dollar demand. But the merits of this move are dubious. On the other hand, an extension of the Bush tax cuts right now would stop the economic and job slide and re-establish certainty. In fact, all the countries around the world should move to the supply side with lower tax rates to spur economic-growth incentives. Europe, China and Latin America ought to go back and read Ronald Reagan's speeches and examine his actions when he faced a similar crisis 30 years ago. It would be an hour or two well spent." --economist Larry Kudlow
"Franklin Delano Roosevelt never denied that he created Social Security. Lyndon Baines Johnson didn't forswear any responsibility for Medicaid. Ronald Reagan never argued that his defense buildup didn't happen. The Obama White House, in contrast, wants to wish away the historic federal spending that is one of its signature accomplishments. White House press secretary Jay Carney ... urged reporters the other day to steer clear of 'the BS that you hear about spending and fiscal constraint with regard to this administration.' Not one to be outclassed by his press secretary, President Barack Obama kept up the edifying livestock theme by calling Mitt Romney's attacks on his deficit spending 'a cow pie of distortion.' The White House has a deeply conflicted relationship to its own record. It is saddled with a bad case of spender's denial, a rare psychological disorder afflicting committed Keynesians facing re-election at a time of record debt. On the one hand, spending is the lifeblood of 'Forward.' It saved us from another Great Depression. It is forging a glorious new future of green energy. ... On the other hand, the deficits and the debt that come with all this spending are alarming and unpopular. So Obama calls himself the most fiscally conservative president in more than half a century. ... He needs to consult an accountant and a therapist, and not necessarily in that order." --columnist Rich Lowry
Political Futures
"Romney is under no obligation to defend Bush and the old GOP Congress from the charge that spending went up a lot under Bush. It did. Indeed, looked at historically one could refer to the 'Bush-Obama' years in terms of spending growth. ... Romney, in my opinion, should turn the tables on Obama and make Obama defend his continuation of Bush's spending binge (If Romney wanted to be really cruel, he could make the case Obama has continued many of Bush's counter-terror policies as well). Romney has the luxury of being the outsider. He can criticize both parties' records over the last decade. The tea parties won't complain. Neither will independents. And, so long as Romney is respectful in how he frames his criticisms of GOP spending under Bush, most rank and file Republicans and movement conservatives will probably applaud as well. Meanwhile, watching Obama try to deal with an 'anti-Bush' opponent would be hilarious." --columnist Jonah Goldberg
Culture
"[T]he overwhelming majority of progressives are simply incapable of admitting when they're wrong. ... Shouting one down, or changing the subject completely are the other fallback positions for those who can't defend their argument using the 'tool of white oppression,' as it were. And then there's the ultimate fallback position when all else fails: We had good intentions. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. So are the roads in liberal enclaves such as New York and California where good intentions such as unconscionable giveaways to public unions, sanctuary city policies sheltering illegal aliens, and suffocating do-gooder bans on cigarettes, trans-fat oils -- and now sodas larger than 16 ounces -- must be endured for the sake of assuaging progressive sensibilities. Sensibilities that all revolve around the same premise: We know what's better for you than you do. Except that they don't. ... Only an idiot would focus laser-like on soft drinks, when public schools across the nation have severely curtailed phys ed courses, and when recreation fields remain largely unused by a couple of generations addicted to video games, texting, and perhaps the most sedentary lifestyles in history. ... The dirty little secret of progressivism is that their five decade love affair with moral relativity has largely eliminated the inevitable consequences that accompany bad choices." --columnist Arnold Ahlert
The Gipper
"God [gave] mankind virtually unlimited gifts to invent, produce and create. And for that reason alone, it would be wrong for governments to devise a tax structure or economic system that suppresses and denies those gifts." --Ronald Reagan
Opinion in Brief
"Remember Obama and Hillary's 'reset button' with Russia. How's that working out? Putin is (still) a KGB thug who kills or imprisons his enemies and who will be devoured by his own people if the price of oil goes low enough. ... When we were in the process of establishing a missile defense capability in the Czech Republic and Poland and the Russians objected, guess who blinked, much to the embarrassment of those two American allied nations that had committed to housing the missiles ... and who had trusted America and our strength? ... We helped drop bombs on Libya to prevent innocent casualties (humanitarian reasons Obama said). Many more innocents are dying Syria. Then again, the Russians didn't tell us we couldn't bomb Libya. ... [T]he mullahs in Iran are now feeling the sanction pinch. ... Having bought more time, the Iranians now want to sit down again. Where will these new 'negotiations' take place? Russia! ... [W]hy is Obama getting a pass for running the most incompetent foreign relations operation in history?" --Fred Thompson
Essential Liberty
"Can America afford to virtually 'go it alone' in defense of the liberty of others who are not willing, or able, to bear the burden and pay the price for their own freedom? I'm not sure there is a satisfactory answer to the question but it is a question that needs to be debated since we always seem to be the ones who pay the highest price. 'Is it worth it?' How will we measure worthiness? These are questions at the heart of the debate. Former President George W. Bush said, 'We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here.' But we are already fighting them here as demonstrated by Sept. 11, 2001, the Ft. Hood shootings and numerous other successful and unsuccessful attacks. Somewhere between 'come home, America,' which would lead to isolationism and intervention in every conflict there is a pragmatic approach to war that America should consider. This ought to be an issue in the upcoming election, but it won't be unless journalists ask the right questions and demand answers from those who have, or are seeking, the power to start or join wars and send our sons and daughters to fight and perhaps die in them. Perhaps a return to the constitutional principle that only Congress has the power to declare war would help." --columnist Cal Thomas
For the Record
"President Obama's risible claim to know more about Judaism than any other American president already has been demolished by, among others, John Podhoretz, who points out that James Madison and John Adams, who both read Hebrew, certainly knew more about Judaism than does Barack Obama. In fact, most educated Americans in the early days of our country probably knew more about Judaism than does Obama: Part of the Puritan heritage is a very strong identification with Israel. American universities were offering regular Hebrew courses long before their English counterparts, and the careful study of the Jewish scriptures was part of any gentleman's education in religion and ethics. Hebrew was compulsory at Harvard at one point. Which is not to say that the Puritans and their descendants were exactly philo-Semitic -- only that they knew something. ... Even if President Obama were telling the truth, it would have been a boneheaded thing to say. ... It is the reflexive self-aggrandizement of President Obama that grates more than the silliness of his claim. The list of important subjects about which Barack Obama knows more than Thomas Jefferson did is likely a short one. A more sensible man would appreciate that." --National Review's Kevin D. Williamson
Reader Comments
"Narcissism and Tyranny -- The Consequence of Executive Egocentrism is an excellent commentary, Mr. Alexander. And so right about the narcissism of this socialist president. I wish Romney would confront Obama during the presidential debates on this very subject." --Tex Horn in Texas
"Make Obama meet personal attacks based upon questions directed at his own version of his history. A narcissist can't stand attacks on his image of himself. Since he cannot afford to view himself realistically, he can only defend that self image by personal attacks on those criticizing him. You can see that in his campaign already. At a certain point his responses will be so far out as to totally discredit him as a person, much less a leader." --Austin in Bellavue, Washington
"I think the best thing Romney could do in a debate is to find a way to really make Obama angry. He will get off script and we will then see the temper that I see reflected in his eyes sometimes. His ego can't withstand criticism and he will become defensive. The audience will see the real Obama materialize before their eyes." --Virginia in Atlanta
"When does Obama lose friends and alienate people? Every time he opens his mouth. Every time he swaggers and looks like he is omnipotent. Every time I see or hear him." --Jane in St. Petersburg
"Maybe Obama's team needs to change their slogan from 'Forward' to 'Forewarned.'" --Lowell in Johns Island, South Carolina
The Last Word
"[Barack Obama] told us America has 57 states, called the Malvinas the Maldives during a visit to South America, and hailed his reforms for bringing 'inefficiencies to our health-care system.' The president's gaffes, however, are simply not echoed the way the vice president's are. Perhaps that's because casting Mr. Biden as the fool who is weighing the ticket down helps the president escape accountability for his own agenda. Just how wise, for example, was it for Mr. Obama to ignore the economy in favor of a highly unpopular health-care bill that also cost him a Democratic House? Is it Mr. Biden or Mr. Obama whose policies have kept growth sluggish and unemployment north of 8%? And who was right on the contraceptive mandate? ... The truth is that there are two types of Washington people to be wary of. The first are those who emphasize how smart they are. The second ... are those quick to label others dumb. Certainly Mr. Biden is more loquacious than most pols, and he's had more than his share of doozies. What makes it different in 2012 is that the same Beltway establishment that once hailed Mr. Biden for speaking his mind now finds that highly inconvenient. In other words, for President Obama to remain all-wise and wonderful with this record, Mr. Biden has to be the stupid one." --columnist William McGurn

I Am Barack Obama's Worst Nightmare
Jim Yardley
I am a thinking, educated, intelligent, independent voter.
I am fanatical in my support for the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
I believe that there is only one phrase that might be slightly more important than "We the People of the United States ...". That phrase would be "In the Beginning the Lord said 'Let there be light'..."
But the most significant thing that makes Barack Obama view me as his worst nightmare is simply this: I tell the truth about him. I don't need to lie. I don't need to "create" a narrative. What he has done all by himself is so appalling that any need for embellishment is stillborn.
The MSM and Kool-Aid addicted left-wing pundits have praised Obama for his leadership.
I haven't seen any evidence of leadership. I have seen coercion. I have seen bribery. I have seen "bait-and-switch" policy pronouncements. But I have not seen leadership.

War In The White House: Attorney General Eric Holder And Top Obama Adviser David Axelrod 'had To Be Separated'

Eric Holder, who heads Mr Obama's justice department, is said to have become "incensed" after being accused by David Axelrod of complaining publicly about political interference in his office. Barack Obama Campaign Funded By Planned Parenthood Blood Money

Back in 2008 Obama was established as not only a pro-abortion candidate, but one that believes in infanticide as evidenced by his lack of support of an anti-infanticide bill in Illinois. I think it would be an insult to the Hispanic community to choose Senator Rubio if the thinks that that is somehow-if Governor Romney thinks that's sort of a get-out-of-jail-free card for all of the things and the positions that he's taken.
Sure. Just like it was an insult to the African-American community when Barack Obama got the Democratic presidential nomination, or Hillary Clinton's campaign was an insult to women.
Axelrod's theory is that the Republicans aren't allowed to nominate a Hispanic because they don't have pro-Hispanic policies like the Democrats. That only makes sense if you assume that Hispanics don't care about such mundane things as jobs, economic growth, the national debt, national defense, and so on. Actually, I think it is Axelrod who is insulting Hispanic Americans, but his real meaning comes through loud and clear: for God's sake, don't choose Marco Rubio!
Although it has been subject to some mockery, I love the video below of Anna Wintour's pitch for dinner with her and Sarah Jessica Parker along with the Obamas. With such appealing figures hosting the Obamas, the video demonstrates that Obama has maintained the man-of-the-people touch that made him a rock star in the 2008 campaign.
I am starting a rumor that Wintour and Parker were the Obamas' second choice to host the event. First to be tapped were George Soros and Sean Penn, but they were otherwise engaged. Their video would have beat this all to hell, even if this is pitch perfect. Surely the Obama camapign will reach out to them again if the RNC doesn't cause second thoughts to creep in.
There is a good Jim Messina and a bad Jim Messina. The good Jim Messina was a member of Buffalo Springfield, Poco and Loggins and Messina. With Kenny Loggins he recorded "Same Old Wine" in 1971 for Sittin' In, their first album. It's a slowly burning number about politics. The opening verse goes exactly like this:
Well we give them the election They keep filling our heads full of lies Can we trust in new directons When their promises are in disguise Well someday the truth will catch up I just hope it don't catch us all by surprise
It's downhill from there, but that's a helluva verse. Loggins and Messina recorded the song for a 1992 albumm, but it's rarely been more timely.
The bad Jim Messina is the Obama camapign mamanger. He has recorded the video below to reassure Obama supporters that all is proceeding according to plan. Jim Geraghty comments here. Here's hoping: "Someday the truth will catch up."
Looks like my favorite science and climate policy blogger Roger Pielke Jr. has been inspired by John's beauty pageant coverage here on Power Line, because he's got up on his fine blog a well-illustrated piece about the economic irrationality of Hooter's: "Hooter's Girls Are Not Hicks Neutral." Wait a minute-I thought hicks were the prime clientele for Hooter's girls?
Turns out I've got the wrong hicks in mind. Roger means John Hicks, the distinguished British economist whose theorems lead Roger to wonder whether Hooter's represents true economic innovation, or just a modest variation of what economists call "factor inputs," or, more precisely, a "biased technical change to the production function." Oh-kay. If that's how economists want to describe Hooter's girls and their work uniforms, I get a better picture of why economists have trouble getting dates.
At least Roger points us to the company's official history, which is a lot more comprehensible than the discussion of the fine points of Hicks-Schumpeter ideas on what constitutes technology-based economic innovation:
The first Hooters opened October 4, 1983, in Clearwater, Florida. During its history, the Hooters concept has undergone very little change. The current logo, uniform, menu and ambiance are all very similar to what existed in the original store. This lack of change is understandable given the tremendous success the Hooters concept has enjoyed. Hooters has continued to rank high amongst the industry's growth leaders. Hooters has proven successful in small-town America, major metropolitan areas and internationally. . .
The "nearly world famous" Hooters Girls are the cornerstone of the Hooters concept, and as part of their job, these all-American cheerleaders make promotional and charitable appearances in their respective communities. Hooters hires women who best fit the image of a Hooters Girl to work in this capacity. The chain hires both males and females to work in management and host, staff, service bar, and kitchen positions. The Hooters Girl uniform consists of orange shorts and a white tank top. Pantyhose and bras are required.
Claims that Hooters exploits attractive women are as ridiculous as saying the NFL exploits men who are big and fast. Hooters Girls have the same right to use their natural female sex appeal to earn a living as do super models Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. To Hooters, the women's rights movement is important because it guarantees women have the right to choose their own careers, be it a Supreme Court Justice or Hooters Girl.
Are you even allowed to say things like this any more? I like these guys. And I don't eat there often enough to express my appreciation.
Michael Barone's Examiner column linked in our "Picks" section today about immigration brings to mind some old controversies. Michael concludes:
My prediction is that we won't ever again see the heavy Latin immigration we saw between 1983 and 2007, which averaged 300,000 legal immigrants and perhaps as many illegals annually.
Mexican and other Latin birth rates fell more than two decades ago. And Mexico, the source of 60 percent of Latin immigrants, is now a majority-middle-class country.
This represents a prediction come true. Back in the early 1990s when I still lived out in California and the issue of illegal immigration was reaching fever pitch (remember California's Proposition 187 in 1994, which sough to cut state benefits to illegal aliens-it passed by a large majority, but was struck down in court), I distinctly recall reading an academic paper-I thought it was by Nobel laureate Gary Becker, but I can't seem to find it-that predicted that in another 20 years or so (which would be about . . . now) immigration from Mexico would begin to decline sharply for the very reasons Michael identifies: demographics and economic growth in Mexico. And as the Pew Research Center estimated a few months ago, the U.S.-Mexico immigration flow may actually be negative right now.
Problem solved or reduced, right? Not so fast. We may need some of those workers, even in low-wage jobs, if we're to have any chance of keeping our payroll-tax based entitlements halfway solvent. In addition, we still need skilled immigrants for many jobs. I was able to find Becker's answer to this: let's auction off visas.

More Bad News For Obama
There was more bad economic news for Barack Obama over the weekend and this morning. Europe continues to flail around for solutions to the chaos in Greece and the growing banking problems plaguing Spain. George Soros predicted this weekend that European leaders have "three months to save the Euro." (I'm sure Soros will make money no matter what happens!)
Looking around the world there aren't many bright spots. The Chinese economy appears to be slowing down, and the Japanese stock market fell to a 28-year low. A shrinking global economy is bad news for the U.S. economy.
Meanwhile here at home, the Commerce Department reported that orders for manufactured goods fell in April, when economists had been expecting a small increase. Worse, Reuters reports that the Commerce Department also revised previous figures "to show a steeper decline" in March.
Clearly, Obamanomics is not working. As one economics blogger at the American Enterprise Institute noted, Obama's transition team promised that the unemployment rate today would be 5.7% if we passed his massive stimulus bill. The stimulus bill passed, and $831 billion later the unemployment rate today is 8.2%, not 5.7%.
Sadly, many Americans are losing hope that our best days are still ahead. A new Gallup poll finds that just 40% of Americans are satisfied with the opportunity for the next generation to live a better life than their parents. Among adults 55 and older (a key voting bloc), just 34% are satisfied and 62% are dissatisfied.
No doubt these folks are watching many of their adult children or grandchildren struggling to make ends meet in Obama's economy. They are probably worried about how their kids will pay for all of Obama's socialist spending, not to mention how he is undermining their values at every turn.
Even More Bad News
Here's something else that must have the Obama campaign worried. A new poll by Scott Rasmussen suggests that attempts to label Mitt Romney as "extreme" are not working. According to the poll, 52% of likely voters consider Mitt Romney's political views "mainstream," while just 30% say his views are "extreme."
But likely voters were evenly split on Barack Obama. Forty-five percent said the president's views are "mainstream," and 45% said Obama's views are "extreme."
That is a remarkable finding considering that the left-wing media have been cheerleading for Obama ever since he burst onto the national stage in 2007. It is a clear rebuke for the man who promised us hope and change, but who has instead been the most polarizing president in our history.
As we have documented, Obama's views are extreme. Whether it's normal marriage, abortion-on-demand or tax increases, Obama consistently sides with a radical minority against the commonsense values of the American people. Thankfully, it seems more and more voters are catching on!
Values Voters Will Be Key
The Associated Press writes today that "some religious leaders and scholars who backed Obama in 2008" fear he has "squandered the substantial gains" Democrats made among religious voters. For example, Obama carried the Catholic vote in 2008 and gained about five percentage points among Protestants compared to John Kerry's performance in 2004.
But Obama's unprecedented assault on faith -- from his fight with the Catholic Church to his radical embrace of same-sex "marriage" -- is turning off many voters. Including life-long Democrats like Jo Ann Nardelli, who said, "Faith is the reason I switched parties."

ALAN KEYES - In an article entitled "The end of the republic?" professor Walter Williams traces the root of America's probably impending financial collapse to "a tragedy of the commons. That's a set of circumstances when something is commonly owned and individuals acting rationally in their own self-interest produce a set of results that are inimical to everyone's long-term interest"... RICH LOWRY - Killing has never been so discriminating, so urbane, so cool. The New York Times and Newsweek both ran long, largely admiring articles on how President Barack Obama selects individual terrorists to terminate with extreme prejudice. The administration's "smart power" isn't working out so well, but smart killing is a smash success... (more)

ROBERT COSTA - Regardless of whether Governor Scott Walker survives Tuesday's recall election, Wisconsin's public-employee unions are likely to see their power continue to decline. According to the Wall Street Journal, government unions in the Badger State have "experienced a dramatic drop in membership" since Walker and GOP lawmakers passed a package of reforms last year, including ones curbing collective-bargaining rights and ending mandatory union membership... WASHINGTON TIMES - Something is desperately wrong with our legal system when the government can take property from innocent people who have never been charged with a crime. It's happening all over the country thanks to the surreal doctrine of civil forfeiture, through which courts hold inanimate objects guilty of crimes, instead of going after the actual owners who - as actual people - would be entitled to the presumption of innocence... WASHINGTON TIMES - When it comes to high state taxes, people vote with their feet. The Tax Foundation's Migration Calculator shows how people have moved state to state between 1993 and 2010, and the amount of adjusted gross income each state gained or lost over the same period. In general, states with higher taxes have lost residents and income to states with a lower tax bite... (more)

Liberals are usually the ones who arrogantly throw around the charge that Republicans and conservatives are fact- and science-challenged and averse to reality... (more)
PATRICK GARRY, RA ANALYST - There are two promises that modern liberalism asserts -- two images about itself that it propagates. First, that it strives to fulfill the communal bonds and yearnings of human beings, to mitigate the harsh brutalities of an Ayn Rand-type of conservatism. And second, that it, and only it, represents the needs and interests of the common person... (more)

MATT PATTERSON - June is shaping up to be a pivotal month for American liberty. On one front, the Supreme Court is expected in June to hand down its decision on the constitutionality of Obamacare, specifically, the individual mandate provision of President Obama's signature health care law, which requires Americans to purchase health insurance or face government sanction... Saturday Long ago and far away, I became friends with a woman in a self-help group in Malibu. She was a lovely, but extremely lonely and confused woman in early middle age. Her mother, a German Jewish woman from a small town near Frankfurt, had survived two years as a slave laborer at a Siemens airplane parts plant in Berlin. Then the mother had been transferred to slave labor at the labor (as opposed to the death camp) part of Auschwitz. There, as a teenage girl, she did heavy labor building barracks for the SS and cleaning them. She was part of a transport of 112 girls from Berlin to Auschwitz.
By the end of the war, when she was forced on a death march back to Germany, barefoot in the snow, eight had survived.
Those Economic Data By Rich Galen On Friday both President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney used the disappointing unemployment numbers to point fingers: Romney at Obama; Obama at Congress. The GOP should make certain that every voter understands that Republicans control the House, but Democrats control the Senate.
J.C. Penney promotes "gay marriage" with Father's Day ad
From its website the company states, "J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) is re-imagining every aspect of its business in order to reclaim its birthright and become America's favorite store." It is well established that James Cash Penney, the founder of the J.C. Penney Company (JCP), was a Christian who lived his life and ran his business by the principles of God's Word. Sadly, the re-imagining of the present-day J.C. Penney Company indicates a departure from biblical moorings and Mr. Penney's leadership by taking sides in the cultural war in celebration of homosexuality. In JCP's June catalog, a pro-homosexual ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home. It reads, "First Pals - What makes Dad so cool? He's the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver - all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason."
TAKE ACTION
Please call or visit your local J.C. Penney store manager to politely inform them that you will not be shopping at their store this Father's Day and why. Request that the store managers pass along your concern to corporate and urge them to remain neutral in the cultural war. You can find the phone number of your local store here, or in your local phone directory.
If you receive the J.C. Penney catalog, you may email, call, or use their contact form on their website to unsubscribe from their mailers. If you have a store credit card or hold stock with the J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP), you might consider closing your account and divesting until they become neutral in the culture war.
JCP is blocking emails from our alert system but you may get through by sending an email directly from your email account to jcpcorpcomm@jcpenney.com.
Please call or visit your local J.C. Penney store manager
It is very important that you forward this alert to your friends and family members.

Global elites eating roasted golden babies For years a favorite topic among conspiracy theorists has been the Bilderbergs and their evil plot to control all the money in the world and destroy it - or something like that. Well, the accusations went to a new level when noted conspiracy theorist Alex Jones bet a police officer $10,000 that behind the walls of the Bilderburg meeting they were roasting gold covered babies and eating them. Not making this up -- watch the video and Glenn's reaction HERE.
Soros: Euro has three months left until collapse Glenn has demonstrated how George Soros uses his influence and the media to try and sway the outcome - just like he did with the British pound back in 1992. The "devil" campaigns for Barack Obama How off track is President Obama's campaign? Well... he's campaigning with the devil. Okay, Barack Obama isn't literally campaigning with the devil - just Anna Wintour, a woman so horrible a novel and a major motion picture titled The Devil Wears Prada was based on her (and she wasn't Prada). And they're trying to make Mitt Romney look out of touch? Mitt Romney is the Marlboro Man compared to Anna Wintour.
