What do you think you should do? Raise the ceilings or pump out the shit?
Your choice is coming in November

If your looking for a succinct look at what the Tea Party stands for and where they are today watch this interview with Elizabeth Price Foley. She wrote a book called The Tea Party: Three Principles. She is a constitutional professor at Florida International University, College of Law.
By Derrick Hollenbeck, staff writer In the 14th century Bubonic Plague killed about 25 million people inEurope. That same deadly disease is back and it has appeared inNew Mexico. There is good news and bad news about it's immergence in our country: it can be treated which is good news; but the bad news is even treated cases will lead to a mortality rate of up to 15%. We have this medieval disease here in our midst thanks to Barack Obama's open borders policy. Obama's "immigration policy" is a fake just as he is. It is designed to appear to be "tough and effective" but actually only concentrates on deporting large 'C' "criminal illegal aliens" who number in the tens of thousands and ignores the small 'C' gardeners dishwashers and construction workers who number in the millions. Because of Obama's fake policy, which amounts to blanket amnesty to people he wants to see vote illegally for him and his Party, ... "If I wanted America to fail" video goes viral, but Twitter suspends group's account; Update: Account restored
By Michelle Malkin * April 23, 2012
This weekend, a video produced by Free Market America went live on YouTube - and it is racking up nationwide hits. Deservedly so. The Earth Day-timed message is compelling and extremely relevant this campaign season. As the group writes: "The environmental agenda has been infected by extremism - it's become an economic suicide pact. And we're here to challenge it."
The time is finally here. Our phone system is up and ready to go!
The folks in Wisconsin could use our help making calls to help motivate people to get our and vote on June 5th.
How to get started:
The most effective times to make calls are between 5pm and 8:30pm central time. We will send you an email each day to remind you!
Click hereto read the instructions for how to operate the phone system. It is important that you read through all of the instructions before you get started.
Click herefor the script. It is important that you stick to the script and remember that we aren't advocating for a particular candidate. We are calling to identify who will be voting and what issues are important to them.
We can't stress enough that the most effective times are between 5pm and 8:30pm central time.
Answers to Common Questions:
The phone number that you will dial to connect to the system is toll free.
The phone system will not display your personal phone number, so you don't have to worry about people calling you back.
You can connect to the system from any touch tone phone.
One hour commitments will be the most successful blocks of time for YOU and for Wisconsin.
Five short days from now, voters in Wisconsin will head to the polls to decide the fate of embattled Governor Scott Walker.
Our goal is to man each and every voting location with a trained poll watcher to ensure the integrity of the election.
A partisan showdown late last year culminated in nearly 1,000,000 petition signatures collected to force a recall election on Walker.
Among those signatures were thousands of phony names, inaccurate addresses, convicted felons, and even a signature from Donald Duck (who claims to live at a Starbucks near the Capitol in Madison).
Between these discrepancies and Wisconsin's long history of election fraud, this race has gained national attention as the race to watch.
Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, a Walker supporter or a union ally, we need your help to ensure Tuesday's election is FREE and FAIR.
The outcome of this recall election will have a huge impact on federal and state races throughout the country from June 6-November 6.
It would a shame-and un-American-if tainted results influence November's elections.
That's why it's critical that we stand together to prevent voter fraud from desecrating Tuesday's election in Wisconsin. With your help, True the Vote will man each and every polling place.
P.S. We don't have a lot of time to raise the funds to man every single voting location in Wisconsin with poll watcher's ahead of Tuesday's recall election on Governor Scott Walker.

June 5th meeting, General Wayne Tea Party - A special guest speaker!
We look forwardto having Nancy Becker as the "Main event" at our June 5th meeting at JC's Fireside Bistro.
Nancy has thrived in the private sector as well as in government, and has held Republican leadership posts at many levels. She's also a wife, a mother of two, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of one.
Currently working in government for Montgomery County, she manages a staff of twenty-six.
She will take a lot of the mystery out of politics for us, and explain why it's so critical that we become involved with what's happening in our own back yard. And how to go about it!
After she spoke a year ago with our sister Tea Party in Central Montgomery County, which is led by Jim and Pam Devlin, the reaction of their members about Nancy Becker's presentation was "Absolute dynamite".
Please mark your calendar for June 5th, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., JC's Fireside Bistro, Valley Forge Shopping Center, King of Prussia.

P.S. Nancy Becker's bio and accomplishments appear below. She's obviously one of those people to whom the term "Extremely high energy level" is correctly applied.
Nancy Becker
Elected as the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds in 2003, Nancy Becker is an accomplished, professional administrator and manager with over 35 years experience in real estate, financial management, and strategic planning.
Currently she directs the Recorder of Deeds Office, full time, with a staff of twenty-six (26), who maintain the integrity of all land records and other documents entrusted to the department, as well as the collection and monthly distribution of County/State fees and Real Estate Transfer Taxes for the State, Townships, Boroughs, Municipalities and School Districts; while professionally serving the public with efficiency, accountability, and responsibility.
Over these past 8 years, as the Recorder of Deeds, Nancy has implemented new revenue sources, saved taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars ($750,000.00 alone in 2006), managed and cut costs; increased efficiency, timely recording and high accuracy rates; prioritized advanced, user-friendly systems, constituent services, security, and disaster recovery; and initiated procedures to protect residents from real estate fraud.
She initiated, coordinated, and spear-headed public effort for sponsorship and support of Senate Bill 1331, which prohibits the state from imposing and collecting state sales and Use Taxes for certain public services performed by any county governmental agency and/or court, and House Bill 1634 (Act 110), which eliminates the need to pre-register a deed prior to recording, thereby saving the residents of Montgomery County tens of thousands of dollars.
November 2011 she initiated a class action suit against MERS and the large banks that have not recorded mortgage assignments. She was featured in Bloomberg Businessweek November 2011 and Westlaw Journal December 2011 for her efforts to maintain the chain of title on mortgages and her attempt to collect in excess of $15 million dollars in recording fees for Montgomery County.
Under her direction, the Recorder of Deeds office has become a model of document management:
One of the highest tech land records offices in the country.
One of the first in the state to electronically record land documents (eRecord) accelerating document recording, creating efficiencies, reducing errors, and dramatically improving the county's ability to serve its constituents. "eRecording" is a government priority at both the Federal and State levels. It is just one of the priorities that I am initiating to comply with the Montgomery County Commissioners' eGoverment initiative.
One of the first in the state to apply artificial intelligence software, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) to automatically capture document data.
One of the first counties in state to participate in its eNotary initiative.
Digitizing land plans in order to make them available through direct computer entry allowing faster access to information.
Digitized land records dating back from 1784.
Implemented Disaster Tolerant/Recovery plan by total "redundant replication" of data and images.
Offer office information and forms online and in the process of integrating a digital archiving system.
Founded the first Property Records Educational Partners (PREP) organization in Pennsylvania, to maintain technological advancement, education, and user-friendly constituent service.
Nancy believes that responsibility of citizenship means being involved in the community. She has been a member of numerous community boards and commissions.
To mention some, she is the President of the PA Recorder of Deeds Association, President of the Northern Montgomery County Drug & Alcohol Task Force, Southeast Regional Chairperson of the Property Records Educational Partners; member of the Board of Directors of the Property Reorders Industry Association, Co-Chair of the Law Enforcement Collaborative, working with the FBI Mortgage and Land Fraud Task Force, a member of the Montgomery County Drug & Alcohol Planning Committee, the Northern Montco Technical Career Center Educational Opportunities Council, the North Penn School District Drug Free & Safe Schools Committee, the Towamencin Township Park and Recreation Advisory Council and Planning Commission, the American Society of Professional & Executive Women and the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Elected Officials & Clerks.
Nancy has also played a significant part in raising millions of dollars in grants and contributions for public causes.
She has also been deeply involved in the political process and the Montgomery County Republican Party:
Montgomery County Republican Women's Leadership (1994- Present)
Treasurer (2009 - Present)
Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman's Club
Montgomery County Republican Committee Area 9 Vice Chairperson (1994-1998)
Montgomery County Republican Committee New Majority Council

Republican State Committee (1996 to Present)
Republican Committee Woman, Towamencin Township 1-2 (1988 to Present)
Treasurer (1992-Present)
Republican Poll Worker (1971-Present)
Served on more than thirty (30) Republican campaign committees for Federal, State, County, and local candidates during thirty-two (32) years of Republican service
Nancy and her husband Mike have lived in Towamencin, Montgomery County for over 34 years.

3) The Wisconsin recall vote of Gov Scott Walker is next week, June 5.
The Tea Party Army is on the ground in Wisconsin and working hard. Liberal idiot DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has declared this recall election as a dry run for the November election. If the left wins this, it will empower them for November. If they lose, it will take some wind out of their sails. PLEASE DONATE to the Tea Party Patriots' voter education work up there. We grassroots groups don't have the Union and Washington-funding that the left has. Please click here to donate what you can.
4) Philip and Ryan's Monday night "Tea Party meets Church" meeting
I assume this is happening this Monday June 4, 7pm at the Rock (857 Main Street, Harleysville). To confirm, please email Philip: philipherot@live.com
5) We as a group won't be doing First Fridays this year.
It's under new "ownership" and participation has increased in price dramatically from last year. It's not financially tenable or worth our effect at $60/night plus the requirement of insurance and stuff. We'll come up with a different, freer way of answering people's questions.

"Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up." (Marco Rubio)
There are very few politicians that have risen to national prominence as quickly as Marco Rubio. At age forty-one there is huge interest in and speculation about his political future. Will he be tapped by Mitt Romney to be his running mate? Will he run for President in 2016?
His story is detailed in his new book 'An American Son." Rubio is the son of parents who fled Cuba in the 1950's. Using the work ethic and tenacity instilled in him by his parents and grandfather, Rubio earned a law degree. As a young attorney he ran for the West Miami City Commission, a role that led to the Florida House of Representatives. In just six years he rose to Speaker of the House and became a leading advocate for free enterprise, better schools, limited government, and a fairer, simpler tax system. He found that he could connect with people across party lines while still upholding conservative values.
His U.S. Senate campaign started as an extreme long shot againstFlorida's popular incumbent governor, Charlie Crist. Rubio traveled the state with his message of empowerment and optimism. He upset Crist in both the primary and a dramatic three-way general election, after Crist quit the GOP to run as an independent.
Now Rubio speaks on the national stage about the challenges we face and the better future that's possible if we return to our founding principles. As he puts it , "Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up."
In that vision, as in his family's story, Rubio proves that the American Dream is still alive for those who pursue it.
Tickets are $25.00 and include a hard cover copy of his brand new book 'An American Son."
By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.
Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.
It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents. The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.
We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

Dinesh D'Souza - Obama & 2016
A Special Message from Americans United for Freedom Contributor KrisAnne Hall
Heading into the most important election of our lifetime, Barack Obama and a terrified Congress want to make sure angry Americans can never again gather en mass to change the course of history as we did with the 1.2 million member 912 March and the demonstrations that flipped Congress in 2010. No, our tyrannical politicians want to force you to stay home and shut up.
The protected right of the people peaceably to assemble is unalienable, something that has afforded deep fundamental and historical foundations to our freedom. Our Founders established a clear "no trespassing sign" via our First Amendment to keep the government away from this God-given right essential to Liberty. "Congress shall make no law abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." But new legislation has been passed in Congress that will destroy this absolutely central, simple and non-negotiable right imperative to a free people.
HR 347 and S 1794, the "Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011" has nothing to do with improving landscaping around federal buildings. This bill is being presented as a No Trespassing bill. Reasonable people understand that lawful restrictions and protections are needed for government officials and government functions. However, this legislation makes it a federal crime to allegedly DISRUPT the "ORDERLY CONDUCT" of government.
The violator doesn't have to be physically on the grounds where the government business is being conducted, just within the vicinity of the self-proclaimed "business of government." The law is not limited to buildings or locations as the title suggests, but seems to be "roving" and follows persons protected by Secret Service wherever they may go.
Standing on a sidewalk with a sign as a Congressman walks by? BUSTED
Traffic slowing to read your Tea Party signs? BUSTED
Make a statement at a town hall meeting that your Congressman doesn't like? BUSTED
1752(a)(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;
1752(a)(3) knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds;
1752(c)(1) the term 'restricted buildings or grounds' means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area - (B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance;
The right protected in the First Amendment is the right to peaceably assemble. We do not have the right to impede the flow of traffic, either on sidewalks or roadways. We do not have the right to impede anyone's business practices. But this law is not about private business, it is about government operations. Make that Big Brother Government Operations.
This Congress has a habit of writing in vague and overbroad terms; yet, in order for laws to be Constitutionally sound they CANNOT be vague and overbroad in ANY aspect, and they can ONLY interfere with the rights of the people in as narrow a capacity as both necessary and according with Constitutional principle. But this law makes it a crime to disrupt the government. The Supreme Court has said this type of broad language gives too much power to the government, and they have been saying this since 1939. This law actually places the desire of the government to be free from disruption unconstitutional power over the right of the people to redress the government of their grievances.
Suppose your Congressman, who is under Secret Service protection, has a town hall meeting and many members of the community show up to challenge him on his voting record. This law could be construed to allow federal charges to be brought against these citizens for disrupting his town hall meeting by attending and demanding to be heard under the First Amendment. After all, it will not be hard to claim that people who are not happy with the Congressman's voting record had the "intent" to disrupt this meeting. This vague and overbroad language has the potential to ultimately prevent people from gathering outside any government building or politician's function for fear of being charged with a federal offense. In Constitutional law, we call that a "chilling effect" and the Supreme Court has always held these restrictions to be unconstitutional. After all, who can afford to risk going to jail, to carry a record of federal arrest, to stand for their rights - even if they will win?
The right to orderly conduct of government is NOT a constitutionally protected right. However we DO have the right to free speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Our Constitution enshrines in government the fundamental principle of protection for our God-given, unalienable rights freely to speak and assemble. These rights of We the People are held as foundation stones of our individual Liberty and the government must protect these rights, not limit them. And throughout history, our Supreme Court has protected these rights.
Hague v. CID, 307 U.S. 496 (1939)
Boos v. Barry, 485 U.S. 312, 318 (1988)
United States v. Grace, 461 U.S. 171, 177 (1983)
Educ. Ass'n v. Perry Local Educators' Ass'n, 460 U.S. 37, (1983)
In every single case, the Court ruled that the people's First Amendment right to protest fundamentally outweighs the government's right to avoid uncomfortable situations at which politicians may be called to account for their actions.
People have the right to complain, the right to have their voices be heard, the right to redress their grievances in the form of protests. These actions are supposed to make the government take notice. Disruption cannot be the standard to stop speech. To allow the government to create this new standard allows the government to tell us to sit down and shut up.
The chilling effect occurs not in the fact that you are denied your due process. If you are arrested because of unlawful legislation you can fight the prosecution and even sue the government for violating your rights. If the Supreme Court has not become completely corrupted you have fairly good odds of winning. But, as anyone who has been wronged by a government agency can tell you, a victory will often come at the expense of a ruined life and livelihood.
The bottom line is that there are laws in every municipality that punish Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, and any other crime involving real threats against government and persons in government. Why do we need a vague and overbroad FEDERAL LAW to enforce laws that are already in effect, when that law could encroach on our God-given, protected rights? William Penn said, "Necessity, it is said, is the plea for every infringement of human Liberty; it is the argument of tyrants and the creed of slaves." Clearly, we don't need a "Federal Trespass Bill." We already have one; it's called the Bill of Rights!
When will we have enough of government intrusion on our Constitutionally protected rights? We were outraged because we are Taxed Enough Already. When will we recognize that if we cannot trust the government with our finances, then we certainly cannot trust the government with our Liberty?

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.
Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

For those hoping for good economic news out of Washington today, they're in for a terrible disappointment. According to the latest jobs report from the Department of Labor, the economy created only 69,000 jobs in May -- well below expectations -- while the unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent, and job numbers from March and April were revised significantly downward. Meanwhile, Taxmageddon is threatening the U.S. economy and holding back growth, but strangely, President Barack Obama isn't doing anything about it.
Heritage's J.D. Foster explains that while a second recession isn't necessarily on the horizon, the news is nothing for the Obama Administration to brag about:
These jobs figures are consistent with other fairly bleak news. For example, first quarter economic growth was revised down to 1.9 percent, while an important measure of performance in the heartland, the Chicago Purchasing Managers' Index, fell to its lowest level since September 2009 which was near the bottom of the recent recession. None of this necessarily points to a second recession, more like continued muddling and hardly in a position to withstand an economic shock such as, for example, the developing deep recession in Europe.
Europe's unfolding recession is entirely of its own making, the product of their own housing bubbles, badly managed public finances, and an experiment in monetary union that went terribly wrong. Unemployment across the eurozone hit 11 percent in April -- the highest level since the euro was created 13 years ago.
Much like Europe, the United States economy is being dragged down by crippling debt and future fiscal uncertainty. As former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan noted, businesses are holding back on investing for the future because, "In short, there is a fear of the future."
But while Europe wrestles with its euro conundrum, the United States is facing its largest tax hike in history -- otherwise known as Taxmageddon -- due to hit the American people on January 1, 2013. Through the expiration of existing tax policies and the imposition of new taxes, families and businesses will be hit with a $494 billion tax hike if Congress and the president don't take action to stop it. Apart from the painful impact that those higher taxes will wreak when they arrive, they're already harming the U.S. economy today by forcing businesses to hold back investment for fear of what the future may hold for tax policy.
A new survey shows that uncertainty in the tax code is in fact causing businesses to fret that future and sit on the sidelines. According to the tax firm Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, most chief financial officers rate eliminating uncertainty in the tax code as their top issue, as The Fiscal Times reports. "Confidence in knowing precisely what the tax code will require has become more important than how much it will cost them," said Robert N. Lowe, chief executive officer of A&M Taxand. "As long as proposed changes remain up in the air, companies will be forced to continue to burn fuel operating in holding patterns rather than charting productive courses forward.
Moving the country forward, creating jobs, and getting the economy going again should be goals America's leaders pursue vigorously and vigilantly. And since Taxmageddon is standing in the way, it would make logical sense for the president and Congress to act now and give the country's job creators the certainty they need to switch into high gear.
But even with millions of Americans unemployed, dismal job creation, an increasing unemployment rate and Europe sliding into a deep recession, President Obama is silent on the issue of stopping the United States from heading over a fiscal cliff. Absent any leadership from the White House, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has announced the House will vote in July to prevent tax rates from rising. The Senate should do likewise. There is time for Washington to take action, but that time is growing shorter with each passing day.
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center appwill, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.
It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.
President Obama has failed to live up to the promise of his candidacy. In 2009, he and his team promised an unemployment rate below 6 percent by 2012. We're far from it.
And now, President Obama talks about the economy as though he has not been president for the last three years.
"It is absolutely critical," he said Wednesday, to make sure the economy is "moving full speed ahead."
Yes, it is. But Obama has spent the last three years holding us back. The president yells, "Forward!" even as he moves backward.
"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is concerned that permitting for the southern segment of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline could be insufficient and has asked for a more extensive review."
With the shale gas boom in full swing, gas prices are at 10-year lows. We have the realistic prospect of abundant domestic supplies of a clean-burning fuel for the foreseeable future, who doesn't like natural gas?
Ask the Sierra Club. This week, the venerable environmental organization announced its "Beyond Natural Gas" initiative, to go along with their "Beyond Coal" and "Beyond Oil" campaigns. Of course, they hate nuclear energy too.
I was going to get awesomely cranky about how suddenly Barack Obama is nostalgic about campaigning against that nice John McCain, but then I realized: feeding a man's narcissism by writing, long involved posts about him helps neither you, nor the narcissist. So in the interests of Obama's own mental hygiene, let me be brief:
In 2008 the Obama campaign released an ad that mocked John McCain for his inability to send an email - which infuriated people, because the reason why he can't send an email is because his arms have never really worked properly after the North Vietnamese got done torturing him. When Obama's Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden dared mildly apologize for it, the Obama campaign humiliated Biden by having their lackey Bill Burton come out and retract Biden's apology.
This is what passed for 'civility' in the 2008 election cycle.

A storm is not a good time to be at the wheel of a ship and a worldwide economic disaster is not a good time to be at the wheel of the ship of state. Hard times are supposed to bring great men to the fore, but instead we have some of the sorriest men in history trying to find the wheel, sleeping off a bender in their cabins or debating whether a wheel even exists.
Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, marked the beginning of the Great Depression, but for Barack Obama, last Friday was Black Friday because the U.S. Department of Labor announced that only 69,000 jobs were added in May, well below expectations that it might reach 150,000. The official unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2 percent, but it is actually far closer to 15 percent.
The news means that Obama's hope of being reelected ranges between slim to none. Beyond the current numbers, on Friday CNS News reported that 766,000 more women are unemployed than when he took office in 2009.
Again this week no rocket or mortar shell hits were identified in Israeli territory. An IDF force was attacked by sniper fire near the border fence in the central Gaza Strip. An officer and a soldier were wounded.
The Israeli security forces recently exposed a number of terrorist networks operating in the Hebron district. One of the was making preparations to infiltrate Kiryat Arba to abduct or murder a local resident. A terrorist cell which attacked an Israeli vehicle with a ring of IEDs was exposed in southern Mt. Hebron.
The Turkish media reported that the Turkish attorney general had issued indictments against four IDF commanders who had been involved in the events aboard the Mavi Marmara. The indictments falsely claimed that the passengers aboard the ship had been armed with "plastic flagpoles, spoons and forks" [In reality, the IHH operatives aboard were armed with deadly cold offensive weapons and at least one or two guns].
While the Obama Administration remains wedded to the diplomatic engagement of Iran, Iran remains wedded to terrorism, including plots against U.S. diplomats. The Washington Postreported earlier this week that U.S. officials are accumulating mounting evidence that Iran ordered terrorist attacks on U.S. diplomats stationed in Azerbaijan, as well as members of their families. The Azerbaijan plot appears to have been part of a larger Iranian campaign to assassinate foreign diplomats, including Israeli and Saudi diplomats, in at least seven countries over 13 months.
On June 29, 2009, the·Supreme Court ruled that city officials in New Haven, Connecticut, violated the rights of white firefighters when they discarded the results of a promotions test because minority firefighters performed poorly on the test. "No individual should face workplace discrimination based on race," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in his majority opinion.
Facing six felony counts and a possible prison sentence, former North Carolina Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards spent the week squirming in his seat as a North Carolina jury continued to contemplate his fate. Ultimately, the judge was forced to declare a mistrial on five of the six counts.

Burma | Reforms Offer No Respite for Ethnic Christians
May 4 (Compass Direct News) - Amid global euphoria over reforms in Burman-majority parts of Burma, life has changed little for more than 3 million Christians and other minorities left to suffer from one of the world's longest running civil wars. Headlines around the world hailed the induction on Wednesday (May 2) of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi into parliament as the beginning of a new era in Burma, officially known as Myanmar.

Introduction: The violence raging in Syria has begun to spill over into several areas in Lebanon, where riots have recently caused over ten civilian deaths. May 12, 2012 saw the outbreak of violence in Tripoli, near the Lebanon-Syrian border, as intense clashes occurred between Sunni Islamists and pro-Assad 'Alawites. Later, clashes also broke out between Islamists and Lebanese military forces that deployed in the city in an attempt to stop the violence. In the night between May 20 and 21, Sunni sheikh Ahmad 'Abd Al-Wahed was killed in the northern province of 'Akkar by gunfire of the Lebanese military.[1]
"The president accepts as a fact that a certain amount of screw-ups are going to happen, and to him, that calls for a more judicious process." Well, that's certainly a judicious use of judicious by William Daley. The former White House chief of staff was addressing the inevitability of collateral damage inherent in President Barack Obama's principal war strategy against al-Qaeda: killing suspected terrorists by firing missiles from unmanned drones that scour faraway skies over Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen. This was about halfway through the New York Times' rambling 6,300-word testimonial to Obama's unparalleled splendor as a wartime commander-in-chief.
Advancing the Homosexual Agenda in America"Queer" was the acceptable term used to define homosexuals in America when I was a wee lad. Now, well after the introduction (from Europe) of the Political Correctness agenda, homosexuals are referred to as "gay." In my opinion, that compromises a perfectly good word in the English language that used to mean, "happy."
A small improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at a Salvation Army distribution center in Phoenix, Ariz., on the afternoon of May 24. Two Salvation Army employees discovered the explosive device, which was concealed inside a yellow, hand-held 6-volt flashlight, as they were sorting through a box of donated items. The IED exploded when one of the employees picked up the flashlight and attempted to turn it on. The blast was not very powerful, and the two employees suffered only minor injuries.

Obama is bad, but he's not exactly up against rival statesmen. After parading around with a one-man cult of personality, launching international projects with no purpose, and displaying all the symptoms of a Napoleon complex, without a world famous conqueror in sight, Sarkozy's only reelection platform was that the alternative to him would be worse. He was right. But you can hardly blame quite a few Frenchmen and Frenchwomen who stayed home, rather than hold their noses and vote for him.
In the UK, Cameron cut the military and launched a war. Labour's career idiot, Ed Milband, now has a higher approval rating than the Prime Minister. Cameron has the same reelection platform as Sarkozy and he's also right, but that won't help him when the public gets the chance to cast their vote. And the vote will be the international refrain, translated many ways in many languages, but that always means, "Throw out the bums."
Russia has become a virtual armed camp for the sole purpose of keeping Putin in power. The man who successfully set up his own Stalinesque cult of personality, now has to use extraordinary measures to protect himself from his own people, who don't care so much that he stole the election, but who are sick and tired of the spectacle of Vladimir and his ten-thousand good friends from the Committee for State Security, better known by three ominous letters, gorging themselves on the best things in life while everyone else suffers.
China's rulers should be paying careful attention to Moscow. If the express train of Western exports ever falters, what they will face will make Tiananmen Square look like a fond memory. The Princes of the PRC won't be up against a bunch of idealistic students, but the farmers whose land they stole, the workers whose children they killed and that rising middle-class which tasted prosperity only to have it snatched away. If that day comes, they won't be stopped by tanks, and the army may just take their side.
If the text on that one is too small for you, it's a CNN piece headlined, "Why the Syrian regime is killing babies."
There's not much to add to that. The Syrian regime may be killing babies, but CNN killed journalism. With some help from the New York Times, the Washington Post and the BBC.
Anyone who has spent time in the Middle East knows quite well that parading around dead bodies is part of the Muslim ceremony of rallying for the next attack. These aren't funerals, these are corpse parades and the corpses are often of unknown provenance, accompanied by calls for vengeance.
Sometimes the bodies are actually of those killed in an attack. Just as often they died of natural causes or are freshly dug up. Go to any Muslim conflict and you'll find both sides brandishing bodies and sometimes even pieces of them.
Assad is quite capable of killing anyone, including babies, and has been doing it, but so have the Syrian rebels with the Muslim Brotherhood. And no matter how many dead baby stories the media runs, the regime and the rebels are equally bloodthirsty cretins willing to kill anyone and anything to stay in power.
In the Houla massacre, the rebels and the regime are both blaming each other. The rebels are accusing a civilian militia allied with the regime. The regime is accusing the rebels. There's no way to know since one group of militia gunmen is much like another. And there's plenty of Syrian soldiers fighting on both sides.
Obama's UN Ambassador Susan Rice says that's a "blatant lie". It may be a lie, but the only blatant lie here is Rice's pretense that she definitely knows one way or another. In regard to the regime version, she has said that, "there is no factual evidence ... that would substantiate that rendition of events". That's true. But neither is there is any serious factual evidence for her view.
All we're getting is material from biased insiders and confused outsiders. And both have an agenda. The Friends of Syria group and the rebels want a war. Syria, Iran and Russia want to avert a war. Obama and his media lapdogs are firmly on the side of war, which is why we're getting dead baby stories from the dead baby media.
Don't have a massacre pic from Syria now, just reuse an old from Iraq. When the goal is propaganda, then the truth doesn't matter.
In Libya, the media told us that there was a monster on one side and angels on the other. After we got done killing the monster, the rebels turned out to be racist murdering monsters. Who knew?
While the media is foaming at the mouth over Houla, the Islamic Boko Haram group has killed over a thousand people, mostly Christians, over the last two years, in Nigeria.
In Sudan, the war criminal Bashir is continuing a genocidal campaign against South Sudan, and Obama is on the record as refusing to intervene there. Oh the media is "covering the story", and by "covering the story" I mean it's running multiple high profile articles attacking South Sudan for the death of a single teenager. Because we do have the best media that Saudi money can buy. And Saudi money is on the side of Sudan's genocidal regime.
Meanwhile in the US a proposal to ban gender based abortions has been shot down. But some dead babies are more important than others.
There are no CNN pieces headlined, "Why the Sudanese regime is killing babies" or "Why Nancy Pelosi is killing babies."
Dead baby stories are a tactical weapon used for a very specific purpose. Let's get in our time machines and flash back to 1990 and the grandmother of all dead baby stories.
Last week, a white African-American friend and her husband returned to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from a European trip and observed an American-Muslim woman from their flight navigating U.S. Immigration and Customs. The couple watched attentively as the covered woman approached the immigration officer, who avoided eye contact, glanced hastily at the woman's ID, and waved her heedlessly through. When it was their turn to be processed, the officer carefully scrutinized their faces, studied their passport photos, and then repeated the sequence a second time.
While shopping in a Washington, D.C. suburban supermarket, an Iranian-American human rights activist, who fled Iran following the Khomeini-led revolution, spied a woman in a multi-layered hijab shopping with her playful young daughter. In the parking lot, the woman struck her meandering daughter as they passed by the stunned Iranian woman. The activist reprimanded the mother for hitting her daughter and cried out, "And please don't force her to wear a headscarf when she grows up." Two hours later, two police officers arrived at the Iranian woman's home to question her after the irate Muslim mother, who had recorded the activist's license plate number, summoned them.
Are these incidents indicative of hypersensitivity to potential accusations of Islamophobia, or do they reveal an already entrenched subservience to Muslims -- dhimmitude -- or both? A closer examination of both leads to the conclusion that perhaps the two concepts are one and the same. Both reflect a fear of Muslims which appears to lead to special treatment. Conceivably, it's a matter of degree, with dhimmitude being the end result of pervasive concerns about manifesting Islamophobia.

It is as if we are all living in a giant playpen and we have too many people who prefer to remain infants, taken care of from birth to death. What is the result of all this "party now--pay later" fun and frolic?
A new dark age is descending across much of the Middle East as forces of Sharia Islam, enabled by official U.S. govt policy, again demand strict enforcement of Islamic law where women are tortured, raped and defiled with impunity.
While the ACLU is losing cases in the federal courts, groups such as Judicial Watch have been victorious in a number of lawsuits against the Obama administration.
The Commerce Department is considering naming Arab Americans a socially and economically disadvantaged minority group that is eligible for special business assistance.
We seem to think that we can consume as much government largesse as we want and no one ever seems to have to pay for it directly. We do. And will. One day. And the picture is not a pretty one.
In a move that comes just months before the state could play a pivotal role in the 2012 presidential election, the U.S. Department of Justice contends that the state is violating federal law in its effort to identify and remove ineligible voters.
June 1, 2012 The Thin Blue Line
Do you agree that law enforcement professionals in your community...
Should understand the doctrine of jihad?
Should understand how jihad motivates acts of terrorism?
Should be versed in who the Muslim Brotherhood is...its history... its goals...leaders... and affiliated organizations in America?
Are you concerned that political correctness is too often keeping this vital information from law enforcement professionals?
We have a solution.
It's called "The Thin Blue Line Project."
"The Thin Blue Line" refers to law enforcement officers who stand as a "thin line" between the law-abiding and the lawbreakers in our society.
Years ago, Islamic terrorism wasn't high on the list of "lawbreakers" the Thin Blue Line had to worry about. Those days are gone.
Since 2009 dozens of homegrown jihadists have been arrested in our country. Numerous plots have either been foiled or failed.
The Obama administration insists that our sole enemy is "al Qaida." As a result, the administration is purging every reference to radical Islam, such as jihad, from its counterterrorism threat assessments and training materials.
But what is linking all the Islamic terror organizations, as well as "lone wolf" terrorists, is not al Qaida.
It is jihad.
Those on the Thin Blue Line need to understand the ideology driving the terrorism. They need to be able to connect the dots between what these jihadists believe and why they do what they do. They need to understand the "threat doctrine."
Because if they don't, we'll all be in greater danger.
We talk to law enforcement professionals all over the country, and they tell us they desperately want to have information that helps them understand this threat.
This is why ACT! for America wants to launch a groundbreaking project called "The Thin Blue Line Project."
The Thin Blue Line Project will be a unique website, designed by law enforcement professionals for law enforcement professionals.
At this website such professionals will be able to easily get resources and information they aren't getting now-and won't get in the future if "the purge" continues. Instead of having to search through hundreds of websites and other information sources, they'll get everything they need in one place.
Do you agree that our law enforcement professionals need the right information to combat Islamic terrorism-even if it's not "politically correct"?
Then we need your help to make "The Thin Blue Line Project" a reality.

Most Americans aren't aware of how the Obama administration is quietly redefining the terrorist threat.
Most Americans aren't aware that ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) is "helping" the FBI rewrite its counterterrorism training materials.
ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood front organization and unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in America.
Most Americans aren't aware that CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) is mailing letters to law enforcement offices across America demanding to see how they conduct counterterrorism training.
CAIR is a Muslim Brotherhood front organization connected to Hamas, and an unindicted co-conspirator in the same trial.
On the other hand, you are someone who knows what's going on.
If those like you, who understand the problem, don't take action, who will?
By making a monthly gift of only 37 cents a day, or a single gift of just $37, you will help us make sure that law enforcement professionals have easy access to information and resources they aren't getting now.

Tonight, Sunday June 3rd, CUFI Founder and Chairman, Pastor John Hagee, will be announcing an exciting new CUFI initiative. You can click here to watch it live at 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific). This link will not be live until 7:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Central, 5:30 PM Mountain, 4:30 PM Pacific) tonight.
Tonight, Pastor Hagee will be announcing the creation of the Israel Defense Fund. This emergency fund will enable CUFI to meet the major challenges we anticipate in the coming months.
CUFI has accomplished great things for Israel. But the times in which we live demand that we do even more -- and do so now!
We need to do more to defend Israel in the public square and in the media. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to purchase more pro-Israel billboards across America as well as full-page newspaper ads as circumstances demand.
We need to do more to defend Israel on our college campuses. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to train even more students and hold even more pro-Israel events on campuses across the country.
We need to do more to defend Israel before our leaders. The Israel Defense Fund will enable us to be more active than ever in educating our nation's leaders about the justice of Israel's cause.
Even if you can't watch the broadcast, don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of the Israel Defense Fund! Click here now to contribute.
We will not be silent. Together, we will do more than ever to stand up and speak up for Israel.
May God Bless You and Those that You Love,
David Brog Executive Director CUFI
I Am Barack Obama's Worst Nightmare
American Thinker | Jim Yardley | June 4, 2012
I am a thinking, educated, intelligent, independent voter.
I am fanatical in my support for the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
I believe that there is only one phrase that might be slightly more important than "We the People of the United States ...". That phrase would be "In the Beginning the Lord said 'Let there be light'..."
But the most significant thing that makes Barack Obama view me as his worst nightmare is simply this: I tell the truth about him. I don't need to lie. I don't need to "create" a narrative. What he has done all by himself is so appalling that any need for embellishment is stillborn.
The MSM and Kool-Aid addicted left-wing pundits have praised Obama for his leadership.
I haven't seen any evidence of leadership. I have seen coercion. I have seen bribery. I have seen "bait-and-switch" policy pronouncements. But I have not seen leadership.
Leadership is convincing people who would not normally agree with your policies, strategies, tactics or even goals that you are right, and that the policies, strategies and tactics that you are proposing to use are effective and cost efficient. Doing that will persuade opponents that you might, just might have a shot at pulling off whatever it is that you are planning. Saying "I won" is not leadership. Bribing Senators to vote for your health care plan is not leadership. Speaking over 50 times to the nation about your healthcare plan and still not achieving the support of a majority of its citizens certainly does not indicate leadership.
Obama operates according to Chicago rules. Oppose him and he'll turn Eric Holder loose on you. He might have Ken Salazar put a boot on your neck. Kathleen Sebelius might not give you a waiver that has been afforded your competitors. Janet Napolitano might raid your place of business and demand proof that not one employee is here illegally (although she wasn't going to deport them anyway). Perhaps he'd threaten to have one of Lisa Jackson's minions at the EPA crucify you. He might force you to sit through a Joe Biden speech. (OK, maybe even Obama wouldn't go quite that far.)
Leadership is Jack Kennedy saying "We will send a man to the moon by the end of the decade" and convincing a sizable majority of the voters to support the idea enthusiastically. The most vivid contrast between Jack Kennedy's moon challenge and anything coming out of the White House recently is the fact that Kennedy's statement did not end with these two words out of his mouth: "or else".
Barack Obama's leadership is apparently patterned after an earlier Progressive president.
A president who didn't merely deny women contraception, but their right to vote in his own war on women.
A president who was also a college professor.
A president who also saw himself as a world shaking figure.
Woodrow Wilson.
Sleep well, Mr. President. You'll see me in your dreams.

DOJ to Florida: Don't You Dare Clean Up Your Voter Rolls
By Katie Pavlich
6/1/2012
A simple way to help prevent voter fraud and election abuse is for states to purge voter rolls. What does this mean? Getting rid of names on voter rolls of people ineligible to vote such as illegal aliens, dead people, duplicates, etc. For nearly a year, Florida election officials have asked the Department of Homeland Security for access to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement database in order to take illegal aliens and non-citizens off Florida voter rolls. Not surprisingly, DHS has been dragging its feet and has yet to comply with the request and now, the Department of Justice is stepping into the purging process and ordering Florida, a vital swing state, to stop.
The Justice Department sent a letter to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner Thursday evening demanding the state cease purging its voting rolls because the process it is using has not been cleared under the Voting Rights Act, TPM has learned.
DOJ also said that Florida's voter roll purge violated the National Voter Registration Act, which stipulates that voter roll maintenance should have ceased 90 days before an election, which given Florida's August 14 primary, meant May 16.
Five of Florida's counties are subject to the Voting Rights Act, but the state never sought permission from either the Justice Department or a federal court to implement its voter roll maintenance program.
But who is really behind the letter? Mean radical DOJ attorney Elise Shore. Christian Adams has more:

In June of 2008, with much fanfare, Obama released his computer-printout birth certificate to the world, stating that this was the only birth certificate available. The Road to Recall: One Left-Wing Loss After Another in Wisconsin
by Joel B. Pollak
Tuesday's recall election in Wisconsin is the culmination of a long political campaign waged by the left to reverse the results of the watershed 2010 election, and to prevent reforms that might be imitated elsewhere. These included: tax cuts for job-creating businesses, spending reductions to turn deficits into surplus, and collective bargaining reforms that freed state and local governments from the onerous cost of union benefits.
As important as the 2010 election was nationwide, it was even more dramatic in Wisconsin. It brought Gov. Scott Walker to office, but also swept aside liberal stalwart Sen. Russell Feingold and ended the career of veteran Democrat Rep. David Obey. It boosted Rep. Paul Ryan to the head of the House Budget Committee, and eventually saw Wisconsin's Reince Priebus take over the Republican National Committee.

Well...I'm not exactly sure WHAT to say. I am STUNNED by the depth and breadth of Obama's knowledge of economics.
Finally, yesterday, he made a clear and concise statement regarding his plan to fix the economy.
Oh, it's late in coming but, better late than never...Right?
Obama was in Minnesota, speaking to liberal voters who, naturally, hang on his every utterance, and he substantially cleared up his, up to now, foggy approach to the nation's struggling economy.
It seems to me that I MIGHT have to take back every bad thing I have said regarding his economic prowess over the years for truly, we are in the presence of greatness.
Here is what he said, word for word.
"I assume there are some folks here who could use $3,000 a year. Let's get that done right now. That means they're - you know, if you got $3,000 a year extra, that helps you pay down your credit cards. That helps you go out and buy some things that your family needs. Which is good for business. Maybe somebody will be replacing some thingamajigs for their furnace. They've been putting that off. but they got that extra money, they might just go out there and buy that thing."
If people would just heed Obama's sage and well researched advice and buy..."THINGAMAJIGS"... for their furnaces, why, everything would be just skippy.
"Thingamajigs."
He said "THINGAMAJIGS."
The $3000.00 to which he refers would come from the Mortgage Refinancing initiative he sent to congress which, if you remember, he championed in his last State of the Union Address.
Well, at least we hope it was the last one.
Anyway...
According to Obama, the program would be paid for by...ummm..."a small fee on the largest financial institutions will ensure that it won't add to the deficit."

At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, "Get used to it" - and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to "get a more fuel-efficient car."
The Obamas behave as if they were sharecroppers living in a trailer and hit the Powerball, but instead of getting new tires for their trailer and a new pickup truck, they moved to Washington. And instead of making possum pie, with goats and chickens in the front yard, they're spending and living large at taxpayer expense - opulent vacations, gala balls, resplendent dinners and exclusive command performances at the White House, grand date nights, golf, basketball, more golf, exclusive resorts and still more golf.
Expensive, ill-fitting and ill-chosen wigs and fashions hardly befit the first lady of the United States. The Obamas have behaved in every way but presidential - which is why it's so offensive when we hear Obama say, in order "to restore fiscal responsibility, we all need to share in the sacrifice - but we don't have to sacrifice the America we believe in."

In a Message to Congress, December 2, 1895, President Cleveland stated: "Reported massacres of Christians in Armenia and the development there and in other districts of a spirit of fanatic hostility to Christian influences naturally excited apprehension for the safety of the devoted men and women who, as dependents of the foreign missionary societies ... Since mid April Chinese naval vessels have been circling a pile of rocks situated 124 miles off the coast of the Philippines that barely qualifies as an "island". The rocks are called the Scarborough Shoal and save for there position, and rumors of oil and gas under them, they have no value to anyone. Nevertheless it is precisely because they are so far from their own shore that the Chinese are trying to pressure the Filipinos into relinquishing their long held claim (since 1734) to Panatag as they call them.
Moreover since the Scarborough Shoal at just 124 miles off the Philippines it is well within the island nation's 200 nautical miles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) recognized by international law as Filipino "fishing territory."

President Madison wrote May 25, 1813: "The brilliant achievements of our infant Navy, a signal triumph has been gained by Captain Lawrence...in the Hornet sloop of war... The contest in which the United States are engaged appeals...to the sacred obligation of transmitting...to future generations that...which is held...by the present from the goodness of Divine Providence." On JUNE 1, 1813, Captain Lawrence sailed from Boston and was attacked by the British ship Shannon. Within an hour, nearly every officer was killed. Later, Captain Oliver Hazard Perry was inspired to name his flagship on Lake Erie "Lawrence." Theodore Roosevelt wrote in Hero ... Continue Reading:American Minute June 1
We are winning. We are defeating the evil that is liberalism in large and small battles ways every day. What is happening to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation governing board is a good example of our victories.
Last January when the Komen board was confronted with the fact that secretly produced videos proved Planned Parenthood would knowingly arrange an abortion for a supposed under aged prostitute, it did the right thing and stopped funding the death mills. They listened to their donors who demanded they stop giving their money to a group devoted to killing babies.
Nevertheless, within days Komen caved in to liberal pressure and reversed itself on Planned Parenthood. Thereafter the liberal lie machine kicked in with stories like the one in the Huffington Post about Komen having faced "massive social media backlash since announcing the decision, with angry people flocking to its message boards ..... to announce ... It has been said that God sifted the nations that He might send choice grain into the wilderness." Calvin Coolidge continued: "They had a genius for organized society on the foundations of piety, righteousness, liberty, and obedience of the law... Who can fail to see in it the hand of destiny? Who can doubt that it has been guided by a Divine Providence?" "We want to let them know that there is a theological responsibility (emphasis added) to participate in the political process..." said House Congressional Black Caucus chair, Emanuel Cleaver of a meeting with hundreds of black Pastors representing various denominations in the U.S. Speaking to MSNBC, the congressman added "...we're going to have the IRS administrator there, we're going to have the Attorney General Eric Holder there, we're going to have the lawyers' organization from around the country, the ACLU - all giving Ministers guidance about what they can and cannot do." (1)
Of course Cleaver was referring to "guidance" in the ways churches can participate in the 2012 election without violating IRS rules concerning their tax exempt status. Naturally this has always been of GREAT concern to black Pastors, especially nowadays given the sterling record of unbiased enforcement built by the scrupulously law abiding Attorney General.

GAO slaps VA for not using vets
By Matthew Weigelt
May 31, 2012
The Government Accountability Office sided again with a bid protestor, saying the Veterans Affairs Department should have set aside a contract for emergency notification services to a service-disabled veteran.
GAO sustained a protest by Kingdomware Technologies of Waldorf, Md., which charged that VA officials didn't comply with the law and regulations under the Veterans Benefits, Health Care and IT Act. It requires VA to conduct market research to find at least two service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses that could perform the work.
For the emergency notification services, VA officials awarded the contract to another company when market research conducted by Kingdomware found at least 20 service-disabled, veteran-owned business on the General Services Administration's Federal Supply Schedule that could be potential awardees.
VA officials maintained that schedule acquisitions are not affected by the set-aside authority in the law. They said the set-asides are discretionary for schedule procurements.

You've seen the video ... the line of Taliban marching on a mountain path ... the insurgent planting a roadside bomb to kill and maim Americans ... the order to launch the Predator drone's Hellfire missile ... the explosion that takes out the murderous enemy.
So, perhaps it makes you uneasy when Virginia's Gov. Bob McDonnell says the use of drones in American skies is a "great" idea and "the right thing to do." He even cites their effectiveness on the battlefield of Afghanistan as a selling point for their effectiveness here at home.
Since we don't have a lot of Taliban marching on mountain paths in the U.S., nor have there been reports of insurgents planting roadside bombs along America's highways, just who does Gov. McDonnell plan to target with drones?
That's what a leading civil-rights group is asking ...
For decades, science books in America's schools have taught the earth is billions of years old, with the Big Bang bursting through the universe some 14.3 billion years ago.
They teach children that bacteria has been around a billion years or so and that the "Precambrian Explosion" some 500 million years ago launched some of the earliest forms of life.
But what if the evidence doesn't support that? What if scientific observation suggests that the Bible's literal account of thousands of years is right?

A Texas man and skeptic of Barack Obama's eligibility to serve as president has posted a video on YouTube revealing two investigators, reportedly from the Secret Service, questioning him at his home.

Each month, the Department of Labor releases the job report; an analysis of how many jobs the economy created and the current rate of unemployment.
May's report reveals that unemployment rose to 8.2 percent and the economy created only 69,000 jobs. Facing these disappointing numbers, the Obama administration has yet to provide real solutions to improve the economy, while new threats like tax increases loom on the horizon.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People
In 2008, Barack Obama sold himself as a uniter and a healer of party divisions. He promised to bring Hope 'n' Change™ to Washington on behalf of a country allegedly weary of partisan bickering. However, the man who thought himself bigger than the office has proven to be awfully small.
Indeed, former Democrat congressman Artur Davis of Alabama says Obama's divisive style has caused Davis to leave the party. "I have regularly criticized an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again. I have taken issue with an administration that has lapsed into a bloc-by-bloc appeal to group grievances when the country is already too fractured: frankly, the symbolism of Barack Obama winning has not given us the substance of a united country."
Davis announced this week that he is considering another congressional bid in Virginia, but this time as a Republican. He's not just any disenchanted Democrat, either -- Davis gave a seconding speech for Obama's nomination in 2008 and chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) for the southern region. But he also voted against ObamaCare -- the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus to do so.
Nor is Davis the only Democrat switching parties. Jo Ann Nardelli, a Pennsylvania state committeewoman and founding president of the Blair County Federation of Democratic Women, switched to the GOP. She said the tipping point was Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage, which, along with "the tug-of-war between the Catholic Church and the administration over the [health care] mandate, have pushed me over the edge." She harkened back to Ronald Reagan, himself a former Democrat, when she said, "I did not leave the party; the party left me."
The Narcissist-in-Chief is alienating more than his fellow Democrats. After pulling the rug out from under Poland and the Czech Republic in 2009 over missile defense, Obama added insult to injury this week with a reference to a World War II "Polish death camp." In posthumously honoring Polish war hero Jan Karski with the Medal of Freedom for his efforts against the Nazis, Obama said, "Before one trip across enemy lines, resistance fighters told him that Jews were being murdered on a massive scale and smuggled him into the Warsaw Ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself. Jan took that information to President Franklin Roosevelt, giving one of the first accounts of the Holocaust and imploring to the world to take action."
Referring to "Polish" death camps is "outrageous," as Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski responded Wednesday. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk likewise blasted Obama: "We always react in the same way when ignorance, lack of knowledge, [and] bad intentions lead to such a distortion of history, so painful for us here in Poland, in a country which suffered like no other in Europe during World War II. The words uttered ... by the president of the United States, Barack Obama, concerning 'Polish death camps' touched all Poles."
The White House downplayed the reference as a "misstatement" and has refused to offer more than a mere transcript correction on its website. It was likely an unintentional teleprompter recitation, but just imagine for a moment the same gaffe being made by George W. Bush. And expressing mere "regret" isn't much for a president who's made a habit of apologizing for America to the rest of the world.
Another Medal of Freedom recipient highlights just how fraudulent Obama's claim to be a uniter truly is. Dolores Huerta, honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America, also received a medal. For starters, we don't normally associate "socialists" with "freedom," but on top of that, Huerta has displayed a nasty rhetorical streak, once declaring, "Republicans hate Latinos," praising Venezuelan thug-dictator Hugo Chavez, and arguing on immigration, "We didn't cross the border; the border crossed us." Bestowing the award on her further both diminishes the award itself and reveals Obama's ultra-partisan roots.
With all his efforts to lose friends and alienate people this week, it's no wonder Obama's campaign is looking for another new slogan. Apparently, "Forward" is stuck in neutral.
"The months before I took the oath of office were a chaotic time. We knew our economy was in trouble, our fellow Americans were in pain, but we wouldn't know until later just how breathtaking the financial crisis had been. Still, over those two-and-a-half months, in the midst of that crisis, President Bush, his cabinet, his staff, many of you who are here today, went out of your ways -- George, you went out of your way -- to make sure that the transition to a new administration was as seamless as possible." --Narcissist-in-Chief Barack Obama at the unveiling of the White House portraits of George W. and Laura Bush
In other words, about the only thing good Obama could say about his predecessor was that Bush, who blew it on the economy, at least made it easy for Obama to take over.
Campaign Trail: Romney Clinches GOP Nomination
The shameless scribes at The Washington Post have made it their unofficial mission to destroy Mitt Romney, with negative stories almost daily about the Republican nominee and his campaign. One of the paper's latest attempts came after a Romney appearance at a Philadelphia charter school last week. The Post reported on a group of protesters who claimed to be "personally offended" by Romney's very presence in their neighborhood. The story glossed over the fact that the protest was actually organized by Obama's campaign, focusing instead on how Romney doesn't listen to the needs of the urban poor. We hate to point out the obvious, but that's exactly why he was at the school in the first place.
Despite the media's attempts to hamstring Romney, he officially clinched the Republican presidential nomination Tuesday after handily winning the Texas primary. As his opponents dropped out one by one, Romney earned enough delegates to finally cross the 1,144 threshold and become the GOP standard bearer in November. (You go to battle with the army you have.) Barack Obama's media surrogates couldn't let the Republican's good news go untarnished, though, as many reports speculated on the supposed link between Romney and real-estate mogul Donald Trump, who maintains that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. Trump, who briefly toyed with running for president himself, supports Romney, prompting The New York Times, The Washington Post and other leftist news outlets to call for Romney to disavow Trump because of his "birther" stance, his wealth and whatever other excuse they could make up. We're pretty sure that Romney, for all his faults, isn't the presidential candidate with the most unsavory connections to disavow.
Finally, two humorous campaign events took place Thursday: White House adviser and Chicago crony David Axelrod headed to Massachusetts to drum up support for Obama, but he ended up being drowned out by pro-Romney demonstrators chanting "Where are the jobs?" and the like, leaving him not quite sure what to do. Meanwhile, Romney held a surprise news conference in Fremont, California, at the shuttered Solyndra headquarters. Solyndra, of course, is the poster child of Obama's failed energy subsidies and his "public equity" malfeasance, having blown $500 million in taxpayer money before going bankrupt. Romney used the event to highlight the president's dismal jobs record.
From the Left: The Audacity of Dope
Anyone who's read Barack Obama's book "Dreams from My Father" knows that he dabbled in marijuana when he was younger, but a new biography by David Maraniss, "Barack Obama: The Story," details the extent of young Obama's love for the drug. Obama ran with a group in Hawaii that called themselves the "Choom Gang," choom being a slang term for pot. According to Maraniss's book, Obama and his friends devised all sorts of ways to get the most out of their pot-smoking experiences, like shutting themselves up in a van they called "the Choomwagon" and filling it with smoke to get "TA," or total absorption. They smoked some of the highest quality marijuana that Hawaii had to offer, and totally immersed themselves in the culture.
There have been several stories published of presidents and their youthful indiscretions with illegal substances, but Bill Clinton and George W. Bush can't compare to Obama, who seems to have been the living embodiment of Sean Penn's stoner character from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."
From the 'Non Compos Mentis' File
Nancy Pelosi says the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold ObamaCare 6-3. Why? "Because I know the Constitution," she said. "This bill is ironclad. It is ironclad. Nobody was frivolous with the Constitution and the health of the American people in writing the bill. So that's where my confidence springs from -- the merit of the bill and the nature of the Constitution. The makeup of the court, well, we'll see."
There you have it: It's constitutional because it's constitutional.
Walker Looks to Win Wisconsin Recall
It looks as if Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker will survive a union-backed recall attempt on June 6. All the polling done to date points to a Walker victory in his rematch with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and even the national Democrat establishment has tacitly admitted that their attempt to roll back Walker's successful union reforms will fail. DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who had called the Wisconsin recall a "dry run" for the Obama re-election campaign, told C-SPAN earlier this week that a Republican victory would not be a big deal. "I think, honestly, there aren't going to be any repercussions," Schultz said. "It's an election that's based in Wisconsin."
The Democrats and their public union buddies spared no expense in their recall effort, drumming up a lot of national support and raising a lot of national funds for this simple statewide race. They had designs on capitalizing on a Barrett victory to launch similar recall efforts in other states. Now that a loss seems imminent, they're spinning it as no big deal. Wasserman Schultz's sudden lack of interest in the Wisconsin race is as sure a sign as any that the Democrats and their organized-labor thugs are preparing for another embarrassing loss next week -- and with many more to come.
Mistrial in Edwards Case
Erstwhile Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards won a victory Thursday when his trial on six counts of campaign finance violations ended in mistrial on five counts and acquittal on the last. Edwards admittedly had an affair during his 2008 presidential bid with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter while his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was dying of cancer. Mrs. Edwards died in 2010. Edwards accepted $900,000 from two donors, which he then allegedly used to cover up the affair. The mistrial is an embarrassment for the Justice Department, which also botched a corruption trial against the late Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens. Jurors in the Edwards case spent nine days deliberating before giving up on an agreement, and it seems unlikely that the Justice Department will retry the case.
Economy
Growth Down, Unemployment Up, Obama's Plan Continues to Fail
The unemployment rate increased in May as job growth slowed sharply -- the weakest growth in a year -- more evidence that the shallow economic recovery from the recession is losing momentum. The Wall Street Journal reports, "A broader measure of unemployment--which includes job seekers as well as those in part-time jobs--rose to 14.8% in May from 14.5% in April."
The percentage of employed Americans in their prime working years -- 25 to 54 -- is at its lowest since the worst of the recession. Just 75.7 percent of that demographic is employed; the pre-recession norm was 80 percent. According to The Washington Post, "While the unemployment rate may be the most closely watched gauge of the economy in the presidential campaign, this measure of prime-age workers captures more of the ongoing turbulence in the job market. It reflects 'missing workers' who have stopped looking for work and aren't included in the unemployment rate." In other words, it's hardly accurate, let alone honest, to call this a "recovery."
So what's Barack Obama doing about it? Redistributing $4.1 million of your income per job created under his "recovery plan." The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the total cost of the original $787 billion "stimulus" is actually about $831 billion. The CBO estimates that the stimulus created somewhere between 200,000 and 1.5 million jobs (take that for what it's worth), which would mean the cost per job was somewhere between $540,000 and $4.1 million. Some "stimulus."
Income Redistribution: Half of American Households on the Dole
The headline is scary enough, but the fact that nearly half of the American population lives in households that are receiving government aid is disastrous. As Doug Ross notes on his Wall Street Journal blog: "[I]f this statistic gets much over 50 percent, you can stick a fork in America." In fairness, the number might be somewhat misleading because of the extension of Social Security and Medicare benefits to those of a certain age, but the sad truth is that we were already in the 30 percent range while Ronald Reagan was in office, and we passed the 40 percent threshold early in George W. Bush's term.
Yet since Barack Obama -- the "food stamp president" -- took office, there's no question the Cloward-Piven strategy of overloading the welfare system may be on its way to fruition. Combine the vast increase in the number of food stamp recipients with those who now subsist on unemployment for months at a time, add in a Baby Boomer population on the cusp of becoming eligible for retirement benefits, and you create a situation with no politically popular choices. Our government is way too large, but it's not too big to fail.
Moreover, while our grandparents were ashamed to receive any sort of "relief," for a large segment of the population, it's now all about sticking their grimy hands into the "Obama stash." At one time, many Americans were poor but proud; now they're proud to be taking their meager existence from those who gladly redistribute the wealth of the producers among us. Once the takers outnumber the producers, Atlas may well shrug. The result won't be pretty.
Regulatory Commissars: UN Wishes to Control Internet
Unlike those in most other nations, Americans enjoy the right of free speech. While courts may bend this freedom in undesirable ways, having this right is key to maintaining a robust public discourse. But because some governments prefer keeping their populations firmly in check and not allowing freedom of expression over the Internet, there's a growing call to give the United Nations International Telecommunications Union (ITU) further control over the governance of the Internet.
Led by China, Russia, Brazil and India -- a group that most certainly doesn't have liberty of their citizens at heart -- the proposal would give the ITU more control over cybersecurity, data privacy and the Internet's address system. Rather than have a group of non-profits, beholden to no nation, maintaining cyberspace, the proposal would leave UN bureaucrats in charge -- and we know how that movie ends.
It's highly unlikely that the United Nations would work to allow people in repressive countries further access to the free flow of information available on the Web. Otherwise, they would be condemning nations like China for their highly restrictive Internet policies. Instead, these nations wish to reduce the Internet to the lowest common denominator in order to control its content, a stance unacceptable to U.S. interests. To their credit, Congress and the Obama administration oppose the new rules, though the UN seems to have sneaky ways of enacting their agenda regardless.
Around the Nation: States That Failed to Cut Taxes
In an embarrassing display of intra-party bickering, two states have failed to seize opportunities for real tax reform. In Oklahoma, where Republicans hold two-thirds majorities in both houses of the state legislature, not only did politicians fail to pass a proposed plan to eliminate the income tax over the next 14 years -- starting with an immediate 3.5 percentage-point rate cut -- but they also failed to pass any tax cut at all before adjourning last week.
Meanwhile in Kansas, infighting among Republicans has effectively halted hopes for tax relief. Leftist Republicans in the state Senate passed a huge cut, thinking it would never survive the House, but House conservatives called the Senate's bluff by also passing the cut, and now, Republican Governor Sam Brownback has given both sides just days to agree on closing loopholes to "pay for it." The Senate is having none of it.
One would think both Oklahoma and Kansas would take a lesson from New York, where high tax rates are essentially paving an exit ramp for residents to flee the state. According to the Tax Foundation, between 2000 and 2010, the Empire State saw a net population loss of 1.3 million, amounting to $45.6 billion in lost taxes. Amid the exodus, it's interesting to note that New York has the second-highest state and local tax burden in the nation and that the states gaining residents have much lower tax burdens. But this, of course, must be purely coincidental.

Warfront With Jihadistan: The Tough Guy President
Just in case you hadn't heard, Barack Obama killed Osama bin Laden. And as if to answer critics who chafe at his frequent self-congratulations, The New York Times featured a story about what a tough guy our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president really is for personally managing the "kill list" of jihadis. For a change of pace, the Times' scoop isn't anonymously sourced but has on-the-record comments from former Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair and former Chief of Staff Bill Daley, and it also referenced "three dozen of his current and former advisers."
The story certainly paints a different picture of Obama from that of the 2008 campaign's anti-anti-terror dove. Ever the sanctimonious critic of Bush administration war policies, Obama has solved the problem of detaining enemy combatants by simply drone-killing them in droves. He also skirts the complication of civilian deaths by simply counting "all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants." Problem solved!
There are pros and cons here. Given Obama's pattern of blame-shifting, it's at least encouraging to see that he's taking responsibility -- very publicly -- for the results of his anti-terror policies. However, his remote-control strikes are depriving the U.S. of valuable intelligence. When we do gain intelligence, as in the bin Laden raid, he immediately starts bragging about it, thereby negating its value. Somehow, he manages to turn even accomplishments into negatives.
Speaking of bin Laden, Admiral William McRaven, who commanded the mission that terminated the terror leader, adamantly denies giving access to Hollywood for its upcoming film on the raid. Last week, we noted that Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, had uncovered the administration's sharing of sensitive information with Hollywood for the movie, scheduled originally for October release but now pushed to December.
The Department of Labor headquarters was decorated this week with posters that included pleasant quotes about Memorial Day. The problem was that the posters also featured a large picture of Michelle Obama and a quote, ostensibly hers, saying, "We all have an obligation to serve our troops and veterans as well as they've served us." Apparently, the president's narcissistic personality disorder extends to the first lady.
As Rick Manning of Americans for Limited Government put it, "Memorial Day is dedicated to honoring those American servicemen and women who have died in the defense of freedom around the world. It is stunning that the wartime Obama Labor Department would choose to ignore the ultimate sacrifice these fallen warriors have paid and instead have tried to make this day of remembrance about them." Just another day in the Obama White House.
Syrian Massacre Forces World Reaction
The ugly situation in Syria grew much uglier and more critical this past week. Last Friday, armed killers allegedly loyal to President Bashar al-Assad massacred 108 men, women and children in Houla, a collection of villages in Homs province. The UN said 49 children and 34 women were among those murdered, killed at close range in their homes. An additional 13 corpses were found on Wednesday in the town of Assukar. Video footage posted by activists showed the bodies face down, their hands tied behind their backs and dark pools of blood around their heads -- in other words, executions. The UN said on Tuesday that the Syrian army and militia supporting Assad used artillery, tank fire, guns and knives to kill the 108 in Houla, but, naturally, the Syrian government denied any responsibility, blaming "Islamist terrorists," its preferred term for the Syrian rebel forces who have been challenging Assad since March 2011.
Reaction around the world was unusually swift and coordinated, as a number of countries, including the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Netherlands expelled Syrian diplomats and ambassadors this week. The U.S. State Department said that the Syrian charge d'affaires was given 72 hours to leave the U.S., and State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland also said the U.S. holds "the Syrian government responsible for this slaughter of innocent lives."
The overall situation in Syria doesn't look to improve anytime soon. Syrian rebels on Wednesday gave Assad a 48-hour deadline to agree to an international peace plan; otherwise, they would renew their battle to overthrow him. Meanwhile, Assad's allies, Russia and China, continued to reject all calls for intervention or UN-backed penalties to force him to change course. Given Assad's ability to withstand international pressure and the continued backing of Russia and China, as well as the West's inability, or lack of will, to offer much help to the resistance, it appears that the grisly death toll in Syria will continue to climb. Yet as in Egypt, the devil they have could be better than the one waiting in the wings.

Judicial Benchmarks: DOMA Ruled Unconstitutional
The First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston ruled Thursday that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional because it improperly denies federal benefits to same-sex spouses. The three-judge panel, consisting of one Democrat and two Republican appointees, did not, however, claim to find a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. Its ruling is likely only a stepping stone to the Supreme Court's resolving the issue. The law, which was passed overwhelmingly by Congress and signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1996, was intended to prevent states that don't legalize same-sex marriage from being forced to recognize the unions of those that do. The federal government does not recognize such unions, either. The court ruled against the latter, but not the former -- an important point.
The Appeals Court ruling came just days after U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken ruled DOMA unconstitutional because same-sex couples aren't eligible for long-term health insurance benefits, violating their due process rights. Judge Wilken, who was appointed by Clinton, also blasted a provision of the tax code that makes domestic partners of state workers ineligible for coverage under the worker's long-term care insurance, saying both were based on "moral condemnation" of same-sex couples. The Obama administration, for its part, has refused to defend DOMA in court.
Live Action caught Planned Parenthood workers on tape, advising women on obtaining late-term, sex-selective abortions -- a practice associated more with China than the U.S. In two online videos, the undercover mothers express the desire to abort a girl because they want boys. The first clinic in Austin, Texas, fired the worker, insisting they don't support sex-selective abortion. The clinic ordered retraining for the entire staff. A New York City clinic was next, but, as we went to press, it has yet to respond.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives failed to pass the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA), which would have prohibited sex-selective abortions. The White House threatened to veto the legislation, anyway, though we're unclear how this plays into the "war on women" Obama claims to oppose -- most children aborted for gender reasons are female. Parting question: Is abortion based on gender any worse than abortion based on convenience?
Army Sgt. Matthew Corrigan, a veteran of the war in Iraq, was asleep in his Washington, DC, apartment as the Metropolitan Police Department prepared to raid it. The Washington Times has the full story, but here are the highlights of how a misunderstanding turned into a gross violation of a man's Fourth Amendment rights.
Sgt. Corrigan called the National Veterans Crisis Hotline for advice on sleeping in spite of nightmares from his time serving in Fallujah. The operator, without Corrigan's permission, called 911 to report that "he has a gun and wants to kill himself." Corrigan denies that. It wasn't long before the SWAT team showed up, establishing a perimeter of barricaded streets and a staging area for a raid. At 1 a.m., they contacted a neighbor and friend of Corrigan, who assured them of his good character and warned that they were making a mistake. Still, police proceeded to break down Corrigan's door, arrest him without reading him his rights and ransack his apartment. They then filed charges for three unregistered firearms found in their warrantless search. Corrigan is suing the District for a minimum of $500,000 in damages, and, if reports are any indication, his case shouldn't be a hard one to make.
Climate Change This Week: Skeptics Aren't Stupid After All
On so many issues, leftists project their own intellectual inadequacies to characterize opponents as simpletons. Of course, this says more about leftist minds than anything else. The latest example is a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change, claiming that people who aren't worried about global warming have slightly higher levels of scientific knowledge than those who are worried. Based upon the answers to 22 non-partisan questions about science and statistics, warming skeptics outscored the true believers.
Scientists cautioned about inferring too many conclusions from this particular small sample, and noted many other factors affect an individual's belief in global warming. Other scientists stated they were not surprised and generally have found skeptics to be scientifically knowledgeable. Never mind the facts, though. The ecofascist peddlers of the theory of man-made global warming and their Leftmedia lemmings are using "science" to advocate ever-bigger government. The problem isn't the climate; it's the solutions.
Nanny State Run Amok
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg isn't content to regulate salt or trans fats -- now he wants to ban large sugary drinks. The New York Times reports, "The proposed ban would affect virtually the entire menu of popular sugary drinks found in delis, fast-food franchises and even sports arenas, from energy drinks to pre-sweetened iced teas. The sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces -- about the size of a medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle -- would be prohibited under the first-in-the-nation plan, which could take effect as soon as next March."
In an interview with the Times, Bloomberg explained, "Obesity is a nationwide problem, and all over the United States, public health officials are wringing their hands saying, 'Oh, this is terrible.' New York City is not about wringing your hands; it's about doing something. I think that's what the public wants the mayor to do." We're not sure the public elected him to be their mother. He added, "We're not taking away anybody's right to do things, we're simply forcing you to understand that you have to make the conscious decision to go from one cup to another cup." That makes it all better. His proposal still must pass the Board of Health, but approval is likely given that Bloomberg appoints all its members.
And Last...
Here in our humble shop, Reuters has never had a reputation for hard-hitting, unbiased journalism. But a new story this week really takes the cake. Reuters reports, "The votes are in and it is unanimous: Barack Obama will win re-election to the U.S. presidency in November, according to five astrologers who offered predictions at their convention on Tuesday." Adding to the mystique for Reuters is that the same astrologers correctly predicted the 2008 outcome. But back then, the economy was in the tank at the time, and the nation's first Hope 'n' Change™ black presidential candidate was running against an unpopular incumbent and an entirely uninspiring challenger. It didn't exactly take astrology to figure that one out. As for this cycle, Obama has been looking for a new campaign slogan. Perhaps he should try "When you wish upon a star."

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 158 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS
Up To 8.2%
It was a gloomy morning in Washington today -- drizzling and dark. The forecast for the rest of the day is even worse, with strong storms and possible tornadoes. The weatherman could have just as easily been predicting Barack Obama's political forecast.
The stock market plunged this morning after news broke that the economy created just 69,000 jobs last month. That was less than half of what economists had predicted. The bad news doesn't end there. The Labor Department also slashed the job creation figures from the previous two months by 49,000. As a result the unemployment rate went up to 8.2%.
This is bad news for struggling families. It is bad news for newly graduated college students just starting out, many of whom are saddled with hefty student loan debt. After three and a half years of Obama's "hope and change," their prospects are bleak.
And so too are Obama's prospects. As the Associated Press noted, "No president since the Great Depression has sought re-election with unemployment as high as 8.2 percent, and past incumbents have lost when the unemployment rate was on the rise."
The best way to restore our hope and get America back on the right track is to change the president in the White House and send Barack Obama back to Chicago!
Command Economies Don't Work
Today's economic news is evidence enough that Obamanomics isn't working. But here is a specific example from the so-called "stimulus" bill.
"Green jobs" and "green energy" were centerpieces of Obama's stimulus plan. In his 2011 State of the Union address, Barack Obama pledged to make America "the first country to have a million electric vehicles on the road by 2015." A big part of fulfilling that promise was providing enough electric batteries for those cars, and since 2009 the administration has pumped $1.26 billion into companies building batteries for electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
But the Wall Street Journal reported this week that the auto companies are nowhere near meeting their sales targets for electric vehicles. And, as a result, the battery companies have created "less than a third of the jobs promised" and some are now laying off workers and filing for bankruptcy.
The Soviet Union demonstrated that command economies don't work. Obama's green energy boondoggles were an expensive affirmation of history and basic economics, not to mention a massive waste of your hard-earned tax dollars.
Remember this lesson, my friends, because throughout the next 158 days the Obama campaign is going to try to undermine Mitt Romney's record as a job creator and private equity investor. Yet Bill Clinton just admitted that Romney has had a "sterling business career." But more importantly, there is a vital difference between investing private money and Big Government investing your money. Obama's record of investing your tax dollars has been far from sterling.
Obama's War On Common Sense Continues
As the election approaches, the Obama Administration is ratcheting up its attack on voter ID laws across the country. The most recent victim of this assault against common sense is the state of Florida. Consider this excerpt from the Miami Herald: "The Justice Department ordered Florida's elections division to halt a systematic effort to find and purge the state's voter rolls of noncitizen voters."
Unbelievably, the Justice Department claims that purging noncitizens from the voter rolls somehow violates the Voting Rights Act and National Voter Registration Act. I'm not aware of any clause in either law that suggests noncitizens can vote, so why shouldn't they be removed from the voter registration rolls?
Voter ID laws are overwhelmingly popular with the American people. A June 2011 Rasmussen poll found that 75% of likely voters, including 63% of Democrats, support voter ID laws. But just as he has done on marriage and abortion, Obama is once again siding with a radical minority against the commonsense values of the American people.

The Economic Disaster Inflicted by Abortion: Roe v Wade as Financial Holocaust By Kelly OConnell CanadaFreePress.com
We normally do not consider abortion in economic terms. Usually its tagged a legal, human rights, or liberty matter. Yet the economic fallout has been a financial bloodbath for America's tax revenues, economic growth, immigration policy, and Social Security.
