Why is the U.S. doing Special Ops exercise with Egypt and Pakistan?

NATO's snub of Israel -- a "major non-NATO ally" and member of NATO's Mediterranean Dialogue -- in its Chicago summit this weekend was simply waved away. "Israel is neither a participant in ISAF nor in KFOR (Afghanistan and Kosovo missions)," said NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Israel didn't belong there, and that's that. In the same press conference, however, Rasmussen acknowledged that thirteen other "partner" nations would attend because "[i]n today's world security challenges know no borders, and no country or alliance can deal with most of them on their own."
Perhaps he, or someone, believes that Israel has nothing to contribute to meeting "today's security challenges."
Pundits quickly assumed that Turkey -- a full NATO member -- had vetoed Israel's participation, as it vetoed IDF participation in NATO exercises in the Mediterranean. Rasmussen denied it -- and maybe he's right, because that's not the only place where Israel is having trouble with its presumed military partners.
The Obama administration claims a special relationship with Israel. The State Department says the "security relationship with Israel is broader, deeper, and more intense than ever before." Assistant Secretary of Sate Andrew Shapiro told a Washington audience, "One of my primary responsibilities is to preserve Israel's Qualitative Military Edge [QME][.]" QME is generally defined as Israel's ability to defeat any likely constellation of conventionally armed adversaries.
And yet...
The U.S. and Israel were to have combined thousands of soldiers in April for what had been billed as the largest missile defense exercise in Israel's history. The objective was to "create a high level of interoperability so that, if needed, US missile defense systems would be able to work with Israeli systems during a conflict." The exercise was canceled amid conflicting accounts having to do with funding, not wanting to alarm Iran, and "administrative issues."
But while "Austere Challenge" was being back-burnered, the U.S. was moving forward with plans for a Special Operations exercise in Jordan. Special Operations is the cream of the American military -- a joint force, highly trained to do "special" things. Its own website notes that its job is in part to "Deter, Disrupt & Defeat Terrorist Threats" and to "Obtain Persistent Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance Systems." Operating in small groups in hostile environments, Special Operators is known for its speed and lethality.
Counterterrorism operatives and terrorist operatives alike covet their skills because to have the skills goes a long way toward defeating them in others. So with whom are we sharing capabilities, some of which were developed and enhanced in cooperation with Israel?
Back in 1982, President Ronald Reagan decided not to sign a treaty known as "Law of the Sea" (LOST), a United Nations convention that would raid America's treasury for billions of dollars, then redistribute that wealth to the rest of the world by an international bureaucracy headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. But today, the Obama Administration has revived that treaty, and tomorrow Senator John Kerry (D-MA) will hold hearings designed to illustrate its supposed benefits and generate support for its ratification. Without a doubt, Reagan's decision should stand, and LOST should remain relegated to the trash bin of history.
The rationale for LOST is that it supposedly brings order to the world's oceans, defines the rights and responsibilities of nations as they navigate and conduct business across the seas, protects the marine environment, and allows for the development of natural resources of the deep seabed. On the surface, these all sound like worthwhile goals. The thing is, the United States doesn't need to join another United Nations treaty to make it happen.
For more than 200 years before LOST was adopted in 1982 and for 30 years since then, the U.S. Navy has successfully protected America's maritime interests regardless of the fact that the United States has not signed on to the treaty. The United States' navigational rights and freedoms have been secure, and they are best guaranteed by a strong Navy.
LOST is not without consequences, either. One of the more nefarious and insidious of its provisions is Article 82, which requires the United States to forfeit royalties generated from oil and gas development on the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles - an area known as the "extended continental shelf." That money, which one estimate says could be worth many billions, if not trillions of dollars, would go to the International Seabed Authority, a new international bureaucracy created by the treaty and based in Jamaica. Heritage's Steven Groves explains that from there, America's money could be shipped to the Middle East, Africa, China, and even state sponsors of terror:
LOST directs that the revenue be distributed to "developing States" (such as Somalia, Burma ... you get the picture) and "peoples who have not attained full independence" (such as the Palestinian Liberation Organization ... hey, don't they sponsor terrorism?). The assembly - the "supreme organ" of the International Seabed Authority in which the United States has a single vote to cast - has the final say regarding the distribution of America's transmogrified "international" royalties.
The assembly may vote to distribute royalties to undemocratic, despotic or brutal governments in Belarus, China or Zimbabwe - all members of LOST. Perhaps those dollars will go to regimes that are merely corrupt; 13 of the world's 20 most corrupt nations, according to Transparency International, are parties to LOST. Even Cuba and Sudan, both considered state sponsors of terrorism, could receive dollars fresh from the U.S. Treasury.
In addition to shipping America's money overseas to unsavory recipients, LOST could have other negative consequences, as well, by exposing U.S. industry and manufacturing to baseless international lawsuits. In fact, environmental activists and international legal academics are actively exploring the potential of using international litigation against the United States to advance their agendas. And for those who say LOST is a tool for mediating international disputes, take a look at the Philippines, which signed on to the treaty and yet today is finding itself browbeaten by China and its claims in the South China Sea.
If America truly wants to preserve its rights on the sea, then it needs to bolster the one tool that has guaranteed those rights throughout history -- a strong U.S. Navy. Unfortunately, under President Obama's watch, the United States is seeing its fleet diminished in size and ability. A lone piece of paper will not defend America's interests on the sea, and neither will transferring billions of dollars to an international authority in Jamaica for redistribution the world over. LOST should not be ratified and signed, and instead Washington should turn its attention to ensuring that the U.S. Navy has the resources it needs to protect America's interests on the high seas.

"Brave" enough to order the killing Osama bin Laden...but had a back-up memo to blame the military in case it went wrong?
The entire Obama administration along with the American left has heaped praise on the president for his "daring" and "brave" decision to send a Navy SEAL team into an Abottobbad compound to assassinate 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. In fact, Obama has even used the accomplishment as the crux of his latest campaign ad - a move even liberal mediaite Arianna Huffington deemed despicable. Yet in April it was revealed that then-CIA Director Leon Panetta drafted a memo that included an escape clause for the president should the operation go awry [emphasis added]: "The timing, operational decision making and control are in Admiral McRaven's hands. The approval is provided on the risk profile presented to the President. Any additional risks are to be brought back to the President for his consideration. The direction is to go in and get bin Laden and if he is not there, to get out." In plain-speak, Obama chose to blame the military, through "Patsy" Admiral McRaven, should the mission to kill bin Laden fail. Does this sound like something a Commander in Chief would or should ever do? The Wall Street Journal adds:

Biggest Religious Lawsuit in U.S. History Launched, Liberal Evening News Shows Ignore It

The evening news broadcasts all but spiked the largest legal action in history to defend our constitutionally protected religious freedom. The May 21 editions of ABC's World News and NBC's Nightly News refused to report the fact that 43 Catholic dioceses and organizations filed a lawsuit on Monday against the Obama administration. CBS Evening News gave this historic news a mere 19 seconds of air time.
This is the worst bias by omission I have seen in the quarter century history of the Media Research Center. Every American knows about the Chinese communists withholding for 20 years the news that the US had landed on the moon, because it reflected poorly on the government. Our US media today are no different. They are now withholding news from the American people if it is harmful to the re-election of Barack Obama.
This is not a mistake, nor is it an editorial oversight by the broadcast networks. This is a deliberate and insidious withholding of national news to protect the 'Chosen One' who ABC, CBS and NBC have worked so hard to elect and are now abusing their journalistic influence to reelect Obama. And when a network like CBS mentions the suit ever-so-briefly, they deliberately distort the issue by framing it as a contraception lawsuit instead of what they know it to be: a religious freedom issue. It's bogus, dishonest - a flat out lie.
Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center appwill, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.
It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.
Barack Obama's economic policies have failed to do anything except drive up the national debt. He has not created or saved jobs. He has not gotten Americans back to work. About the only significant industry he has expanded is the printing industry printing all the extra food stamps Americans now depend on.
His campaign attacks do not seem to be working either.
He is winning women, but not by the overwhelming margins he needs to get elected.
He is now losing Catholic voters, a key constituency he won in 2008.
He is even losing Democrats on his Bain Capital attacks. His campaign has spent more time explaining itself to Democrats this week on those attacks than it has been able to level the attacks. It doesn't help when the Obama campaign is raking in money from Bain Capital and private equity firms while trying to demagogue them.
In a nutshell, the Obama campaign must convince Americans that Mitt Romney would be a worse option on the economy than Americans already believe Barack Obama is. Running a campaign on the message of "you think I'm bad, just look at him" is not really a winning message.

Even at 11pm ET last night, the Associated Press had called the Arkansas Republican Primary for Mitt Romney, but still had not called the Democratic race for Barack Obama.

This Wednesday, the G-5+1 convenes in Baghdad for the second round of diplomatic talks with Iran. There is some dispute about their goal. Is it to keep the nuclear bomb from Iran or is it to stop Israelfrom attacking Iran's nuclear facilities?
The diplomatic "posturing" on both sides sounds a lot like the quote above from Psalm 120. To most of the world it is a political problem, but for Israel it is about their very survival as a people. Iran has repeatedly threatened to annihilate Israel and wipe them off the face of the map. Iran always offers verbal bait to the West for talks, but continues on relentlessly in pursuit of the bomb. The talks five weeks ago gave the West nothing, but gave Iran five more weeks without inspectors. Watch this week for the same old "bait and switch".

Monday, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) head Yukiya Amano met with Fereidoun Abbasi-Davani, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), in an initial conference over Iran's nuclear program. The Iranian Fars News Agency said the meeting represented the "eagerness" of the UN to "further develop cooperation with Iran in various areas of nuclear applications," and it is clear the rosiness of the state media's characterization is not without good reason.

The Iran debate is a resumption of the same old argument. Is Israel or Iran the rogue state? Both have defied the United Nations, which apart from any of the moral issues, makes them rogue states. If the only value that matters is cooperation within the international community, then Iran and Israel are on the same level.
Every now and then we wonder why we can't win wars anymore. The answer is that we don't fight wars, we fight endless police actions in the name of stability. Nearly every war we fought in the last hundred years was about stabilizing a region in an endless game of domino theory. Most of the wars were morally right, not so much because we fought them for the right reasons or in the right ways, but because our enemies were genuine monsters.
Our defense plan and foreign policy for generations has depended on maintaining an international order that would provide for common defense and common markets, and that most of all would allow for international stability. Stability has been the absolute good, instability the absolute enemy. It's not right or wrong that we care about, but the regional stability that maintains stable markets and keeps us from having to send peacekeeping forces to another hellhole.
This is the Pax Americana. This is why we did something about Iraq and Libya, countries out of step with the Arab League. It is why we will almost certainly bomb Syria and why we pressure Israel. It is also why we have done nothing about a genuine genocide in Sudan, whose regime has the support of the Arab League. It is why we will keep on pushing Taiwan into China's embrace, while trying to checkmate China's expansionism. It is why we will keep putting money and troops behind the United Nations.
United States governments have lost the ability to think of national rights and interests, apart from the international order. The two have become one and the same. It is presumed that what is good for the international community is good for America, even when that clearly is not the case because it is presumed that the infrastructure of international law and stability is an overall good.
The United Nations was not simply inept, like the League of Nations; it was a relic of another age even as its delegates trooped into the modern glass and steel building on Turtle Bay. It had been built to counter the wrong threat. The problem no longer lay with rogue industrialized nations on a conquering spree, but with an international ideology determined to subjugate civilization with its own worldwide alliance.

Last weekend in Chicago, NATO leaders announced the Interim Missile Defense Capability in Europe, which will protect the alliance from potential ballistic missile attacks.
It is the first step towards our long-term goal of providing full coverage and protection for all NATO European populations, territory and forces," NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.
NATO member nations such as France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain have developed their own short range missile defense but as The Heritage Foundation's Luke Coffey explains, "With relatively modest investment and adaptation, these platforms could eventually form part of NATO missile defense capability."
NATO should continue to advance its missile defense program. This could include jointly developing missile defense systems, establishing interoperable command-and-control systems, resolving political and military issues associated with command-and-control, and preparing operational plans in case the alliance is attacked. NATO will need to further define key missile defense capability requirements and the assets required to achieve them.
The primary purpose of NATO is to protect and defend the alliance's territories from attack. To achieve this goal, NATO must stay attuned to the evolving nature of defense readiness, as Coffey explains

Channel One Network aired a two part series titled, "Muslims in America", on May 16, 2012 and May 17, 2012 to approximately 6 MILLION students at more than 8,000 schools. The transcript of part one of "Muslims in America" reads like The Learning Channel's recently cancelled television show "All-American Muslim." Channel One attempts to portray Muslims living normal American lives. But that contention is difficult to accept since the shows profiled two Muslim Students Association (MSA) presidents.
Two of the Muslims interviewed, Muhtasham Sifaat and Kyle Smith, are Muslim Students Association chapter presidents. Muhtasham Sifaat is president of the Muslim Students Association, Bronx Science. Kyle Smith of Plainfield, NJ is president of the Muslim Students Association at his university. The Muslim Students Association is "the mother ship of all the Muslim Brotherhood front groups" according to Jihadwatch.org.
Here is the Muslim Students Association pledge. "Allah is my lord. Islam is my life. The Koran is my guide. The Sunna is my practice. Jihad is my spirit. Righteousness is my character. Paradise is my goal. I enjoin what is right. I forbid what is wrong. I will fight against oppression. And I will die to establish Islam."
USA Today reports New York Police Department "spokesman Paul Browne provided a list of 12 people arrested or convicted on terrorism charges in the United States and abroad who had once been members of Muslim student associations, which the NYPD referred to as MSAs."
So these are "Muslims in America" according to Channel One Network?
Channel One Network told 6 million American students during Part One:
* "So, Islam is basically, it really boils down to submission and your submitting to one God you believe in one God and you follow Prophet Mohammed who is just a line of other prophets from Adam to Noah to Moses and Jesus. It's like a lifestyle, and not so much just something you do every now and then. In essence the Channel One Network May 16, 2012 report WRONGLY:
* Proselytized Islam to public school students. * Presented Islam as a religion of "shining light" while completely omitting any mention of Sharia law which is hostile toward women's rights, human rights and non-Muslim life. * Put Mohammed in the same spiritual lineage as Moses, Noah and Jesus which is counter to Judeo and Christian teaching. * Equated Islamists' discipline (based on Sharia) to Christianity and Judaism. * Gave Jesus only the status of a prophet to these 6 million students without mentioning that 2 billion Christians consider Him to be the Son of God. * Took a backhanded slap at Christianity with two references to Islam's alleged "one God."
The Channel One Network told 6 million American students during Part Two "But it's that tiny minority of Muslim extremists that continue to make headlines." This statement deliberately tries to minimize radical Islamists' threat to America.
The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which claims to be America's largest Muslim civil liberties advocacy organization:
* Is an unindicted co-conspirator in the country's largest Hamas terrorist fundraising case. * Is opposing legislation in twenty states which seeks to ban courts from recognizing Sharia law which is hostile to many American policies that protect life and human rights. * Routinely defends terrorists in the United States and abroad.
Now of course everyone should clearly see that the views of CAIR, the largest Muslim civil liberties advocacy organization in the United States, does not represent a large segment of American Muslims and could only be seen as Channel One Network sees them as "that tiny minority," right? WRONG.
Channel One Network never addresses the fact that Islam is more than a religion. They never mention Islam is a radical political movement that seeks government dominion along with their oppressive Sharia law. They never mention that radical Muslims have seized Sharia control over Egypt and five other countries during the last year.

* Proselytized Islam to public school students. * Presented Islam as a religion of "shining light" while completely omitting any mention of Sharia law which is hostile toward women's rights, human rights and non-Muslim life. * Put Mohammed in the same spiritual lineage as Moses, Noah and Jesus which is counter to Judeo and Christian teaching. * Equated Islamists' discipline (based on Sharia) to Christianity and Judaism. * Gave Jesus only the status of a prophet to these 6 million students without mentioning that 2 billion Christians consider Him to be the Son of God. * Took a backhanded slap at Christianity with two references to Islam's alleged "one God."
I urge your companies to stop presenting such a distorted and dishonest version of Islam and to stop Islamic religious proselytizing of public school students.

Show of hands: Who here still thinks Vice President Joseph R. Biden will be on the 2012 ticket?
Really? All of you? So wrong. The Great One, Sir Barack Hussein Obama, will replace the bumbling, buffoonish Mr. Biden with Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, maybe at the Democratic convention, maybe just before, in a last-ditch effort to win re-election.
The wild and crazy move is all the talk outside the Beltway. One state Democratic leader even tells me the bumper stickers are already printed, sitting in a warehouse in (where else?) Little Rock, Ark. Another party bigwig says she is "99.9 percent sure" the increasingly desperate president planned the whole thing from the beginning. ("C'mon, Hill, be Secretary of State for one term and I'll make you veep the next!")
Step back a minute: What does the president get from keeping Punxsutawney Putz on the ticket? Zippy the chimp. But if he bails on Mr. Biden, picks a woman - bam, base enthusiasm goes through the roof, women come out of the woodwork to vote (for Mrs. Clinton, not for Mr. Obama), and it's 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for another four years. (Plus, Joe becomes Secretary of State, because, really now, he wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't living off the government teat, would he?)

The long-awaited Progressive World of Next Tuesday has just gotten closer with the passage of an amendment in Congress that legalizes government propaganda. What could possibly go wrong with that? It worked so well in the USSR!
Drawing simplified, two-dimensional people on a propaganda poster is the same as flattening individuals under an ideological press, squeezing out and discarding their humanity and leaving some single common trait - class, gender, race, profession, ethnicity - in order to establish a simplified, two-dimensional vision of the world in the minds of target audiences.
Complex, multi-dimensional ideas are not likely to spur large groups of perfect strangers to unite in a swift, coordinated action. That can only be accomplished with a simplified message that isolates a single common characteristic in different people and exaggerates it to the point of existential importance, while suppressing more essential individual characteristics. As the secondary characteristics become primary and vice versa - voila - the individual is being sacrificed to the collective.
As an added benefit, this amendment will feed all the progressive artists congregating at the NEA trough. It just so happens that, as a former Soviet citizen, I used to create motivational visual agitation posters for the Communist Party committee in Siberia. May I apply for a grant?

The Catholic Church Goes To Court
More than 40 Catholic organizations -- from individual dioceses to universities -- filed 12 lawsuits in various federal courts this week. They are taking this extraordinary action in response to the Obama Administration's mandate that religious organizations pay for abortifacients, sterilizations, contraception and other devices and pills that violate their core values.
In addition to the contraception mandate, there is the administration's so-called "religious exemption compromise." In reality, this compromise amounts to an unprecedented assault on religious liberty. On CBS's "This Morning," Cardinal Timothy Dolan explained the church's position.
"I worry that members of [Obama's] administration might not particularly understand our horror at the restricted nature of the exemption that they're giving us, that for the first time we can remember, a bureau of the federal government seems to be radically intruding on what the term of a church is. ...
"This is about religious freedom, it's not about contraception. What we're worried about now is the exemption given to the churches is so strangling, and so narrow and it's also presumptuous that a bureau of the federal government is attempting to define for the church the extent of its ministry and ministers."
This isn't the first time that the Obama Administration has attempted to narrowly define the extent of a church and its ministers in an effort to expand government power at the expense of religious liberty. In January, the Obama Administration was smacked down by the Supreme Court for trying to dictate employment policies to a Lutheran school.
The court's decision was shocking because it was unanimous, 9-to-0 -- exactly the kind of bipartisanship everyone wants. Not one liberal justice on the court -- including the two Obama appointed! -- sided with the administration. The court's January decision makes Obama's contraception mandate seem shockingly arrogant, further reflecting Obama's total disregard for the First Amendment and the Supreme Court.
Of course, the mainstream media stick to the administration's talking point that this dispute is about making contraception more easily available to women. But in spite of all the rhetoric about a "Republican war on women," the reality is that this administration is waging war on religious liberty -- from promoting abortion on demand to redefining marriage.
Men and women of faith, especially Catholics, are taking notice. Obama won Catholic voters in 2008, but recent surveys suggest his support has fallen dramatically. In today's Washington Post, columnist Michael Gerson suggests that Obama's troubles with Catholic voters are just getting started. He writes:
"The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has called all Catholics to 14 days of 'prayer, study, catechesis and public action' on religious liberty from June 21 to the Fourth of July. This is smack in the middle of the presidential season. It also, not coincidentally, starts around the Feast of St. Thomas More, who said, 'I die the king's faithful servant, but God's first.'"
Barack Obama has on occasion expressed his frustration with the Constitution he has sworn to uphold because it has limited his ability to impose his socialist change on America. Our founders wisely wrote the Constitution for precisely that very reason -- to limit the power of government.
And they included the First Amendment guarantee of religious liberty not to protect the government from the church, but to protect the faithful from the government. That balance has served our nation well for many years. But like so many of our cherished values, it is under relentless assault from this administration and it is at stake in this election.
Bain Attacks Backfire
The Obama campaign recently shifted the focus of its attacks on Mitt Romney from women's issues to his work at Bain Capital. The attack on Bain is a blatant effort to undermine Romney's strength as a successful businessman, and it speaks volumes about the Obama campaign's ignorance of the economy.
So much so, in fact, that even prominent Democrats are denouncing Obama's attack on Bain. Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, New Jersey, blasted the Obama attack as "nauseating." Former Rep. Harold Ford, Jr., agreed with Booker, as did former Obama car czar Steve Rattner. Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell chimed in too, saying that Obama's attacks were "very disappointing." Needless to say, the Obama campaign wasn't pleased that its surrogates dared to tell the truth. Within hours of making his critical remarks, Booker was backpedaling. On his "Hardball" show yesterday, Chris Matthews practically excommunicated Booker from the Democrat Party, accusing him of "sabotage." As today's Wall Street Journal noted, "It's now an offense against Obama to defend capitalism."
In 168 days, we will get the chance to defend capitalism from Obama!
Teachers Gone Wild
A recording of a North Carolina high school student being verbally abused by his social studies teacher has gone viral. In the recording, the student and teacher engage in a debate about the election.
It quickly turns heated, and the teacher warns the student that he can be arrested. Did the student threaten the teacher or the safety of other students? No. According to the social studies teacher, the student was being disrespectful toward Barack Obama.
Of course, you can't be arrested for merely criticizing the president of the United States, and I have to assume that this social studies teacher knew better. Her threat was likely an attempt to silence the student. In response to the teacher's bullying, the school district has suspended the teacher -- with pay. In other words, she got a vacation!
Rep. Issa might not have the votes to push forward Holder contempt charge

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) might not have the votes in his own committee to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.
A number of Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are wary of moving forward with Issa's proposed measure, putting the powerful chairman in an awkward position as he attempts to build support for the move.
Two of the committee's 23 Republicans have declined to support the measure at this point, while five other GOP panel members did not respond to repeated requests for comment over the last two weeks.
When compared with the 16 Republicans on the committee who have actively been speaking in favor of the measure, the silence, lack of outspoken support and desire by these eight GOP caucus members to avoid the issue could be a problem for Issa.
Republican leadership has been hesitant and reluctant to voice its support for Issa's move, possibly owing to the chairman's inability to guarantee the measure's passage in his own committee.

America's religious communities are fighting back against Barack Obama's attack on our religious liberties. The first dozens lawsuits have been brought by Catholic entities against Obamacare's regulation requiring them to provide contraception services in their employee health care coverage. This is just the beginning.
Since Obama started his war on religious freedoms he has driven faith guided voters from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. The politically lethal "contraception" mandate destroyed the Democrats in 2010 even before its violence to religious teachings was widely known.
Given the bumbling disjointed nature of the Republican Party it would be hard to credit the large shift of voter allegiance to the GOP to steps John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have taken. That leaves only one other possibility: Barack Obama himself.

As the State of Florida continues to release evidence in the Trayvon Martin case, it becomes increasingly clear that prosecutors will have little chance of convincing an honest jury that George Zimmerman is guilty of 2nd degree murder.
On May 15th, a medical report submitted by Zimmerman's family doctor revealed that, on the night of the shooting the accused murderer suffered "...a 'closed fracture' of [the] nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of [the] head and a minor back injury..." Constitutional Countdown
What can someone accomplish in four months? It's possible to play an entire NFL football season, but you'd need another full month to complete the playoffs. You could try to build a new home. But you'd need plenty of cooperation from your contractor to get it finished on time.
Or you could try to write, from scratch, the greatest governing document in history.
Well, no point in trying for that last one, since it's already been done. That's right. The U.S. Constitution, which has enabled our country's growth and success for more than 220 years, was written in a mere four months.
The remarkable four months that gave us the Constitution began on May 25, 1787. State delegates gathered to discuss ways to replace the failing Articles of Confederation. The process proceeded in several stages. One scholar on the Constitution Convention Gordon Lloyd divides the summer into a four-act drama.
Act I (May 1787) centers around the Virginia Plan, which was a proposal for a bicameral legislature, with representation based on state populations. The New Jersey Plan, by contrast, proposed a unicameral legislature with equal representation for all states. The smaller states favored the New Jersey plan, because they feared losing their voice to the larger states under the Virginia Plan. Nevertheless, the Act concludes with the adoption of the Virginia Plan and the creation of a bicameral legislature.
In Act II (June and July), the Convention is at a stalemate. Many delegates are concerned that they have exceeded the Congressional mandate to revise the Articles of Confederation and are worried about the possible failure of an extended republic. The Connecticut Compromise (adopted in mid-July) assuages the majority of these fears. The Compromise blends both federal and national characteristics, thus enabling a republic to succeed on a large scale. Under the Connecticut Compromise, we first encounter the form of Congress that we have today: one in which the House represents the individual people, and the Senate represents the states more completely.
In Act III (July and August), the first drafts of the Constitution are crafted, as a result of debates over specific Congressional powers. Regional struggles are especially evident in the notes from this time, as debates regarding the trade and practice of slavery moved to the forefront.
Act IV (September) encompasses the final three weeks of the Convention. Congressional matters have largely been decided, and the delegates move their attention to the executive branch. After much debate pitting national and federal powers against each other, the Convention adopts the Electoral College: as with the Connecticut Compromise, the President would be elected by a combination of the people and the states. The final draft of the Constitution is written. On the last day of the Convention, James Madison records this in his notes:
"Whilst the last members were signing [the Constitution] Doctr. FRANKLIN looking towards the Presidents Chair, at the back of which a rising sun happened to be painted, observed to a few members near him, that Painters had found it difficult to distinguish in their art a rising from a setting sun. I have said he, often and often in the course of the Session, and the vicisitudes of my hopes and fears as to its issue, looked at that behind the President without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting: But now at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and not a setting Sun."
Condensing this momentous summer of 1787 into four short paragraphs runs the risk of de-emphasizing its significance. We ought to delve into a study of the Convention, and recognize the incredible work done by brilliant, patriotic men at a time when their country's very survival was in question. It should be our task this summer to return to the constitutionalism they painstakingly crafted, and to defend it against further attacks.
What Americans can and ought to do is spend these next four months reading the Constitution, and thinking about how to protect and restore it. The Constitution translates the principles of the Founding into a framework of limited republican government that remains central to the American way of life. On Thursday, May 17, American Family Association delivered an additional 254,976 petition signatures to Home Depot chairman Frank Blake during the company's annual shareholder meeting. AFA also addressed Blake, the board of directors and the shareholders.
AFA spokesman Randy Sharp appealed to Chairman Blake to review Home Depot's extensive support for homosexual activism and direct the company toward neutrality in the culture war.
Chairman Blake tepidly responded, "We are, and will remain, committed to a culture that fosters an inclusive environment for our associates, our customers and communities in which we exist."

AFA is promoting a boycott of Home Depot until it agrees to remain neutral in the homosexual culture war. The total number of people who have signed the Home Depot boycott pledge is 719,037.

The public mind has been so poisoned that an acquittal of George Zimmerman could ignite a reaction similar to the acquittal of LAPD cops in the Rodney King beating case. Should that happen, those who fanned the flames, and those who did nothing to douse them, should themselves go on trial in the public arena.
