The IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

An IDF spokesperson said intelligence assessments called for the deployment of more soldiers. An army statement highlighted last August's infiltration from the Sinai north of Eilat in which eight Israelis were killed, and said the subsequent division of that area into two distinct military zones necessitated additional manpower.

Enough Already: Contempt Process Begins Against Holder on Fast and Furious

Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News reports that Republicans on the House Oversight Committee will take the first formal step toward contempt proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious.

The draft consists of a briefing paper and 48 pages that will be distributed to Democrats and Republicans.

According to the documents the Department of Justice has given "false denials, given answers intended to misdirect investigators, sought to intimidate witnesses, unlawfully withheld subpoenaed documents, and waited to be confronted with indisputable evidence before acknowledging uncomfortable facts."

Most importantly, "the Justice Department's demonstrable contempt for the congressional investigation has inflicted harm on the people of two nations seeking the truth--and very pointedly on the family of fallen Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ATF whistleblowers who now face retaliation in the wake of their own heroic efforts to expose wrongdoing."

Of course the DOJ makes excuses and tells Ms. Attkisson, "We've done twice a month (document) productions since last year and the Attorney General has testified about this matter no less than seven times."

The DOJ doesn't state that they're still holding onto more than 70,000 documents and have only given the committee about 6,000 documents. Rep Gosar told me a lot of those documents are repeats and it's very well known, too, that a lot of the documents are heavily redacted rendering them useless.

Mr. Holder's testimonies have changed many times and hardly give a straight answer. We don't have answers to these simple questions: Who came up with this operation? Who approved this operation?

Absolutely no one within the DOJ has been held accountable for Operation Fast & Furious despite the murders of Agent Terry and 300 Mexicans.

Today is also the one-year anniversary of Mr. Holder's first hearing on this operation.

Developing...

"If I wanted America to fail"

By allowing our attention to be focused exclusively on the danger and prevention of terrorism, we ignore the many other ways we are being attacked. Specifically, we are missing what our Islamist enemies call their 'civilization jihad' - a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance. Together, these have the effect of exploiting our liberties and governing structures against us, so that our leaders wind up imposing the very anti-American values that our enemies promote.

Welcome to The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within - a 10-part, web-based video briefing that is designed to explain why and how this is happening.

It addresses a threat most Americans are unaware even exists within our country, let alone the degree of peril it represents.
The threat is the totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine its adherents call "shariah" and the organized, disciplined and increasingly successful efforts by such adherents-- most especially the Muslim Brotherhood-- to bring it here.

We are making this course available in the hope of encouraging, informing and broadening support for national efforts to defeat the insinuation into this country of shariah's anti-constitutional and seditious program.

PLEASE FORWARD TO OTHERS... There's safety in numbers...

Here's a way you can lend a hand with our continuing struggle to warn the sleeping world about the dangers of radical Islam.

Clarion films, which produced the block busters Obsession, The Third Jihad and Iranium is stepping up its efforts to get these films shown.  I remember how happy I was when Obsession was first released. At last I had a way to reach the people I was trying to educate into a post 9/11 awareness. I distributed as many of the DVDs as I could.

Now you can help Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst on FOX News Channel, educate more people about sharia and jihad. Ryan is with RadicalIslam.org, the Clarion Fund's website. He is spearheading a new grassroots initiative to show these important films to local communities such as churches, synagogues, GOP/DNC/Tea Party groups, national security conferences or any other venue that may be interested.

No speaker's fee is required but travel expenses and a small screening license fee are requested.

I'm sure you will pass this along to all your contacts so we can really make a difference in our country's willingness to protect itself against sharia and jihad.

Here is Ryan's contact info:

Monday, May 7th at 5pm

Kitchen Table Patriots

Let's get together and talk about what we did right and what went wrong on Primary Day in our area! This is the only way for all of us to effectively continue to make a difference in local politics.

We all came together back in 2009 because we were outraged by the election of Barack Obama, the passage of Obamacare and the direction of our country financially and ideologically. The time has come, perhaps our last chance to truly make a stance, for us to unite and work to defeat the progressive agenda which has already infiltrated us so deeply. The first step towards a big win in November starts now! So, we, at The Kitchen Table Patriots, urge you to come out this to make a difference, we can plug you in where you are needed.

This is where you can make a difference that really matters!

VALLEY FORGE PATRIOTS MONTHLY MEETING

FRIDAY, MAY 11, 6:00 PM AT THE

PHOENIXVILLE COUNTRY CLUB

DID YOU KNOW THAT TEACHERS HAVE TO JOIN THE UNION WHETHER THEY WANT TO OR NOT, AND UNION DUES IS TAKEN OUT OF THEIR PAY CHECK BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT?

AND THEN DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR SCHOOL BOARD HAS TO WRITE A CHECK TO THE TEACHER'S UNIONS TO PAY TEACHER'S DUES?

YOU CAN PROBABLY FIGURE OUT WHAT THIS DUES MONEY IS USED FOR IN HARRISBURG!

GUESS WHO IS PAYING FOR ALL OF THIS? Right, you the taxpayer!

Do you know what can happen when all of this is changed?

Come out and learn more from

Simon Campbell, an excellent and entertaining speaker (yes, even on this subject).

Simon currently serves as Vice President of the Pennsbury Board of School Directors so he knows how it works from the inside. After a 21-day teacher's strike in his district he started a grassroots group, StopTeacherStrikes to advocate for PA to become the 38th state to make teacher's strikes illegal. Simon also served on the board of Pennsylvanians for Right to Work.

He regularly speaks on the need to end compulsory unionism and other aspects of public sector union political power.

Q&A session and more to follow.

An extremely important movie is coming this summer - Dinesh D'Souza - Obama & 2016

Dinesh D'Souza is author of many New York Times best sellers.  The movie is from Gerald R. Molen, producer of Academy Award Winning Schindler's List.

It explains in plain language who Barack Obama really is, what he stands for, and the dangers of him being reelected for another four years.

Watch this short informative video preview of this movie which came out only yesterday and share it with others.  It has already been seen by over 18,000 people.  Within a very short time it will have been seen by millions!  After you see the preview, listen to what Dinesh has to say about Obama.  Please take the time to hear this and pass it on.

Philadelphia Tea Party Patriots

Hi group. Just a few notes:

1) Even though First Friday is starting tomorrow, we won't have a table (by our choice). We are talking with the organizers to work out a better spot than on the outskirts of Lansdale beside a loud band. In this situation, our presence has had diminishing returns for the amount of work (and $) that goes into it. We will let you know if we can negotiate a better spot that is more front-and-center with better ability to converse with folks. Do not go to FF tomorrow expecting a Tea Party table. Perhaps in June.

2) Our next meeting is Thursday May 10, 7-9pm at Rock (857 Main Street Harleysville); we are excited to have someone from Americans for Prosperity speak to us. It'll be one of 2 people, either one a "celebrity" of sorts within our movement. The probable subject will be the Obamacare exchanges being set up in PA.

3) Several have been asking about the event Philip advertised at our last meeting. Hopefully I'm describing it okay here, as we are advertising their event (which sounds pretty cool). Sorry if I'm getting this wrong guys, but it's an exploration of American ideals, history, freedom, and spirit from a Biblical perspective. The Divine Providence of our Constitution. The Tea Party meets Church. 7pm every Monday beginning May 7 at the Rock.

4) Lou from our sister group General Wayne Tea Party is asking for help from us to take some time manning their table at the Oaks gun show:
Sat May 5 from 9am to 5pm
Sun May 6 from 9am to 4pm
Please email Lou Flanagan at   louis@APO146.com   if you can help, even if for only 2hrs. You don't have to know anything about guns.

5) I encourage all Souderton School District taxpayers to attend the Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday May 8 @ 6:30pm in the Admin Building on 760 Lower Road, Souderton. Most of us are late in paying attention to this; again we face a blackmailing of the taxpayer with the threat of removal of all sorts of student programs and fee increases OR the raising of taxes. It is time for us to get educated on this year's situation. Begin by opening the Budget Development presentation given at the April 18 Finance committee meeting, and by reading this brief article. Note that concessions by the teachers' union would relieve 1/4 of the $3.7million budget deficit. Otherwise we're looking at another 5% tax hike.

6) Due to my lovely wife's birthday, we will again be canceling this month's movie night scheduled for Thurs May 17. Please send Pam a happy birthday on May 17 to her facebook.

7) Things are heating up in Wisconsin with this recall. If we do nothing, the leftist special interests and unions will roll over Scott Walker and common sense. See email below for donation/plan, and if anyone is interested in even going out there for door-to-door efforts, let us know and we'll take the next step.

-Jim

From the Tea Party Patriots National group:

Dear Patriot,

In Wisconsin on June 5th the labor unions and big-government special interests believe they can crush the tea party movement.

They are campaigning furiously in that state to convince voters to turn their backs on Governor Scott Walker's commonsense reforms in that day's recall election.

They know that if they can con the voters of Wisconsin into recalling tea party leaders like Governor  Walker and his allies in the state legislature, they can stop cold our national movement to cut the size and scope of government.

Will you please make an emergency contribution of $25, $35, $50, $100, $250 or more to help Tea Party Patriots fund a massive grassroots campaign in Wisconsin to refute the lies and smears about Governor Walker's historically successful reforms?

We need to recruit tea party activists from all over America to head to Wisconsin.  We need to fund phone banks and advertisements.  And we need to do it all by June 5th, the date of the first recall election.

Please make the most generous contribution you can right now.  We don't have much time and there is so much to do.  We the People need to stand up and be counted in Wisconsin!

Last Sunday, April 29th, our nationwide local Tea Party Patriots groups voted 98% to 2% to throw all our energy and resources into Wisconsin for the upcoming June 5th  recall elections.

But, we must raise $300,000 to fully fund this campaign.  --You see, unlike our irresponsible representatives in DC, we will only move forward with a campaign if we are certain we can fund it.

Please, click here to help us reach our $300,000 funding requirement.  This is a HUGE program.  Your donation, no matter how small, will help us fully fund this massive undertaking.

The well funded labor unions are bussing in professional activists from all over the country.  Left-wing interest groups are spending millions on ads.

These enemies of freedom and free-enterprise know that if they can just win in Wisconsin -- if they can just recall Scott Walker and some of his allies --  they can then roll to victory across America this fall.

Their goal is to crush the tea party movement and end any talk of reforming government, cutting spending or reducing taxes.

And a victory in Wisconsin will be an critical step towards achieving that dream.

That's why our local groups voted to go "all in for Wisconsin."  We absolutely MUST defend Governor Scott Walker's reform agenda!

Here is our plan:

First, we need to recruit Tea Party volunteers from across America to travel to Wisconsin and campaign door to door spreading the TRUTH about Governor Walker's reforms.

Second, we need to organize phone banks and educate undecided voters about how Wisconsin's economy is rebounding thanks to these reforms.

Third, we want to hold a national "telephone town hall" with a prominent Congressman (I can't release his name yet!), a nationally renowned pollster, and a number of other influential Wisconsin residents to explain to America why June 5th's recall election is so important.

Fourth, we need to strike back online and refute all the lies the lies being spread by the labor unions through ads, our email list and our massive 800,000 fan Facebook page.

This is a massive campaign.  And it will be expensive.

We need to rent busses for volunteers.  We need to pay for tea party rallies across Wisconsin.  We need to buy flyers and door hangers and everything else that a grassroots issues campaign needs.

So, I am turning to you.

Please make the most generous contribution that you can possibly afford to Tea Party Patriots right away to help us reach our goal of $30,000 by next Tuesday.  This effort in Wisconsin will be the largest grassroots program in our history and we don't have much time.

The recall election is just around the corner.   The labor unions and their big-government allies have been preparing for this day for an entire year.  They have millions set aside for their campaign.

Please make a secure online donation today.  We must raise $300,000 to full fund the program.

I really need your help. Anything you can give can help us win in Wisconsin!

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Dr. Larry P. Arnn
Dr. Larry P. Arnn

Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"

In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.

That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."

Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.

I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!

And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.

Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:

This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!

I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!

Hillsdale College"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.

It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

We're going to Washington, D.C. to stand with Israel

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

Brigitte Gabriel and our National Staff want to personally invest our time with you and have worked hard to provide a FREE training for our members in the region around D.C.!

Please join us for the Northern Virginia Citizens in Action Training Conference.

If you are concerned about the growing threat of radical Islam and Sharia Law to our great land and you haven't seen a plan of action to meet this evil head on, here's your opportunity to join with us for real, measurable results.

Results that make a difference, not just a statement.

Our host team is working hard to deliver a day you won't forget. Plan on being there! Meet me and our growing team of professionals at the Dulles Airport Marriott on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
Registration will start at 7:30 AM with the event starting at 8:30 AM and running through 5:00 PM.

Here are a few comments we have received from previous training seminars around the nation:

"...After 8 hours in that chair ............. I was ready for another 8 hours - it seemed to end too soon..."

"I was literally stunned. Wow!
Brigitte Gabriel has assembled an incredible team to support her message of action and hope!"

"...As much as the issue depresses me, and I could cry every time I think about what is happening to the West, I left yesterday's conference energized and inspired. The day reminded me that I am *not* alone, after all, in trying to resist the dangerous absurdity of radical Islam that is being forced on us. I'm in desperate need of such reminders, as I'm sure most of us are. Whenever I'm close to despair, I remind myself of Brigitte's message. Thank you so much for this incredible training day!"

"...What an amazing seminar!"

"...I have never spent a better $45, 104 miles and 12 hours!" (Previous pricing for a similar event. We're wanting to involve as many as possible from this region, so for this event only, it's free!)

You can find out more and register online by clicking here.

Call the number above to reserve your room at the Marriott if you need to spend the night.

Your early registration really helps us plan accurately for materials and supplies needed! Thank you for doing it today!

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

We are the Tea Party

On Thursday, our staff finalized the most explosive resource that Grassfire has ever published. It's called 69 Obama Lies. It's a Fantastic Resource for this election year!

I believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough "vetting" of Obama's actual words in print. And I know it is going to outrage the Left because we actually hold Obama accountable for what he said!

69 Obama Lies

Dear Patriot,

About six weeks ago, our staff set out with the goal of putting the "truth detector" to what Obama has actually said. What we realized is Obama has lied so pervasively and thoroughly that even our staff had forgotten many of his most outrageous fibs! That's when we realized we had to create a written record of the Obama Lies.

When we finished, we had created a 122-page, 20,000-word dossier that documents a disturbing cross-section of fibs, falsehoods, and fabrications that our President has used to win votes while implementing his radical agenda. Go here to see a larger image of the cover and the full list of 69 Obama Lies we have documented:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

+ + The Lies that got Obama elected...

69 Obama Lies is organized in six sections that cover everything from the lies Obama has told about himself (we call these "ObamaLies"), to his campaign lies, his lies about government and taxes, ObamaCare and domestic and foreign policy.

They are all here -- and footnoted so you will have complete documentation. We start with the ObamaLies -- his denial of Rev. Wright.... the "normalcy" of his church... the Bill Ayers lie... the ACORN lie... and Obama's "Brother's Keeper" lie which exposes his Marxist core.

Let's be clear -- it was these  "ObamaLies" along with his campaign lies that got Obama elected in the first place. Obama's ability to cloak his real beliefs and his real associations (with the willing help of the liberal media) kept his campaign moving forward.

But we don't stop there....

+ + Obama's "Big Government" Lies

69 Obama Lies also tracks the BIG LIE that Obama sold to the American people just after Inauguration Day -- that massive deficit spending would "create and save" jobs and restore the economy.

It was all a LIE. We know that now. But it is vitally important to have the facts laid out in an orderly fashion. That's precisely what 69 Obama Lies does. We expose the full range of Obama's Big Government lies...

The "Create Or Save Jobs" Lie...

The Stimulus Law is Working" Lie...

The "I'll Cut The Deficit" Lie...

The "Government Motors" Lie...

The "Cash for Clunkers" Lie...

The "Rich Pay Less In Taxes" Lie...

+ + Border Lies, ObamaCare Lies... Energy Lies...

69 Obama Lies literally covers every aspect of Obama's presidency -- from his lies about border security and immigration to his lies about gas prices and green jobs.

We saved a whole section for Obama's signature legislative "achievement" -- ObamaCare. We've identified a Baker's Dozen of fibs Obama told just to get ObamaCare passed.

And please note that each of the 69 Obama Lies is like a mini research report -- clearly laying out the specific Obama lie and fully documenting our sources.

You get the actual words of Obama set against the truth -- the LIE next to the reality check. Go here to request your copies and see the complete list of 69 Lies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

+ + 69 Obama Lies Begins Shipping In Two Weeks!

If you can help Grassfire with a contribution of ANY AMOUNT (even a few dollars to cover printing and shipping), we'll send you TWO COPIES of "69 Obama Lies" -- one to keep and one to share with a friend.

We have asked the printer to rush the first printing of 69 Obama Lies so we can get this resource into our team members' hands as quickly as possible.

As a result, we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23.

In order to be included in our first shipment, please let me
hear from you as soon as
possible. Go here to request your two copies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

I truly believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough and most important resource Grassfire has ever created. And I want to put it in the hands of every Grassfire team member.

Please take a moment to order your two copies of 69 Obama Lies today, and thanks for the stand you are taking.

Steve Elliott

Grassfire Nation

P.S. As I write, the manuscript is going to the printer and we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23. The first print run of our last resource quickly sold out.  Please go here to see the complete list of 69 Obama Lies and to order your copies:

Patriots, this booklet will assist in setting the record straight with swing voters, moderates, and even Democrats! This is the best resource I have seen to prove the lies from Obama - out of his own mouth- versus the truth or facts. This is the resource of this 2012 Presidential election year.

Want Obama out? Then obtain multiple copies of this booklet and share with friends, neighbors, co-workers, church family, and your tea party. To win we must be equipped! This is the best weapon for your arsenal of resources to beat Obama!

Catholic Bishops reject Health Care mandate; Calling for protest, civil disobedience, to an "unjust law"

The Unites States Conference of Catholic Bishops is fighting back against government infringement on religious liberty and practice. Photo:
Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Peter Bella

"The Constitution is not for Democrats or Republicans or Independents. It is for all of us, and a great nonpartisan effort should be led by our elected representatives to ensure that it remains so." (Our First, Most Cherished Liberty/USCCB)

CHICAGO, April 17, 2012- In an audacious rebuke to President Obama, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops threw down the gauntlet.

USCCB issued a "Statement on Religious Liberty". The statement calls for the repeal of the contraception mandate put on employers by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The statement makes it very clear this is not a Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or other religious issue. It is an American issue. It is a demand for religious liberty guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The statement is a call for all Americans, no matter their faith or position on issues, to preserve the guarantee of religious liberty.

Victory Center" on Facebook

-Gabriel Malor

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the RNC's new Facebook application. Designed, in the words of one RNC staffer to "take our message where the people are," the Social Victory Center app will, among other things, hook users up with campaign news targeted based on their location and preferences (which Facebook already knows, of course), let users join volunteer efforts, distribute voter registration forms, and provide an online phone bank, all without leaving the Facebook website. It will also, if users wish, put those activities on the user's Facebook wall, letting their friends see what they're up to and, hopefully, encouraging them to join in.

GOP Facebook

It's an attempt to leverage Facebook's popularity in a new way and, at the moment, the Democrats have nothing like it. The Social Victory Center was unveiled to the public yesterday, so if you're on Facebook, check it out. As the general election ramps up, check back for volunteer activities as they're added. Also, like I did in 2008, I'll be pushing online phone banking in the final weeks of the election, only this time the RNC will have done the heavy-lifting that the McCain team wasn't too keen on.

1. Julia Left Conway Twitty For Barack Obama

2. Jill Biden: Government Oversight for Thee, Free Markets for Me

3. Devolution of Transportation Authority is Solution to Earmark Problem

1. Julia Left Conway Twitty For Barack Obama

The other day we learned Barack Obama's girlfriend in Dreams From My Father was actually a composite, much like the Boeing 787 or Katya Kasanova after Dr. Krieger rebuilt her on the television show Archer.

Now, Barack Obama is rolling out a new composite girl in his life named Julia. On Obama's website, people can walk through Julia's life from birth to death panel. For the duration of her sixty some odd years, President Obama remains President. We get to see how Julia benefits from President Obama's policies.

Over at Human Events, my colleague David Harsanyi writes "Who the hell is 'Julia,' and why am I paying for her whole life?" It's a fair question. According to Obama's campaign website, someone enrolls Julia into a Head Start program. The government provides her with contraception until she decides to have a child. She has no parents. She has no husband. She suckles the teet of government her whole life, from delivery room to death panel.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Jill Biden: Government Oversight for Thee, Free Markets for Me

Barack Obama didn't believe in government healthcare mandates...until he did. He didn't think we should spike the football on Bin Laden...until it was time for reelection. Joe Biden thought Obama was ill-equipped for the job of President...until he took the job as his right hand man.

Yes, the ability for this administration to say one thing and do another is nothing short of astounding. Apparently this sphere protecting the executive branch from any lasting accusation of hypocrisy also extends to the executive spouses.

Take for example President Obama's recent targeting of colleges that prey on veterans.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Devolution of Transportation Authority is Solution to Earmark Problem

It's becoming clear that many rank-and-file members of the House Republican Conference are chomping at the bit to resurrect earmarks after a two-year moratorium. Some are complaining that earmarks cede authority to the executive branch; others are lamenting the lack of "grease" to facilitate passage of statist legislation; still others are trying to push miscellaneous tariff bills, which violate the rules of the earmark ban.

Obama's Campaign Slogan Is The Historical Marxist Slogan   May 03, 2012 11:49 am

I just do not know how much more it will take to convince Americans that our president is a Socialist, maybe even a communist.

His entire 2008 campaign was based on socialist dogma and his administration is rock solid socialist.  Obama even had a self-described communist serving, openly, in his administration until some Americans raised enough hell that it became intolerable and he quietly left the administration.

"An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent... He must create a mechanism that can drain off the underlying guilt for having accepted the previous situation for so long a time. Out of this mechanism, a new community organization arises....  The job then is getting the people to move, to act, to participate; in short, to develop and harness the necessary power to effectively conflict with the prevailing patterns and change them. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an 'agitator' they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your function-to agitate to the point of conflict."

Everyone Booze Up and Riot   May 03, 2012 11:15 am

Riots are the exclusive domain of those who view themselves as outside the law. Whether they are outside the law because they are above or below it is a matter of perspective. The rioters may see  themselves as the oppressed who are below the law while their victims tend to think of them as above the law, with the power to rob and kill, without paying any significant price for it. All that is true whether we are talking about Russian peasants killing Jews, Indonesians killing ethnic Chinese or African-Americans killing whites.

Chris Christie's Islam Problem   May 02, 2012 10:47 am

We're often asked, "are there Muslims who oppose sharia law and jihad, and if so, where are they?"

One of the more outspoken and courageous reformist Muslims in America is Dr. Tawfik Hamid. Dr. Hamid, once a member of a terrorist organization and author of Inside Jihad, brings unique insights to the issue of radical Islam-as evidenced by his recent opinion column below.

This is why we added Dr. Hamid's perspective, and his compelling journey from terrorism to reformer, to this year's National Conference & Legislative Briefing.

Fighting Sharia Law MUST be a Strategic Objective for the US

By Tawfik Hamid

www.tawfikhamid.com

Some see Sharia Law (Islamic Law) as a threat to human rights, discriminating specifically against women, gays, and non-Muslims. This limited understanding of Sharia may lead to a half-hearted response rather than a serious fight for the US's strategic interests. It is, however, difficult for an honest person to deny the fact that Sharia Law is a threat to human rights for the real threat of Sharia goes far beyond infringements of human rights.

Sharia Law was the main topic for discussion in several debates in the US and other western countries.

Careful observation of our modern history reveals that the US has had major troubles from all Muslim countries or systems that have implemented Sharia Law.

The following is a list of Islamic countries and societies that have implemented Sharia Law as the main law of the land:

1-Saudi Arabia
2-Iran
3-Afghanistan under the Taliban regime
4-Sudan
5-Somalia

Without a single exception, the US has suffered major troubles from all of these countries.

For example, Saudi Arabia produced Bin Laden who led Al-Qaeda and attacked the US on September 11 2001 which dragged the US into very costly confrontations. These confrontations have cost the US economy trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. In fact, 15 of the 19 hijackers of the planes that attacked the twin towers on September 11 were Saudis. Moreover, petrodollars coming out of Sharia-ruled Saudi Arabia have been used to support Islamists in Egypt and other Islamic countries thus promoting more Islamic-based hatred and animosity toward the US.

Another example of the outworking of Sharia is the Iranian Islamic regime that has shown aggression toward the US and currently aims at creating a nuclear bomb that threatens world stability and security. The relationship between the US and Iran declined dramatically after the Iran regime adopted Sharia Law following the Islamic revolution in 1979.

Afghanistan under Sharia Law created a system extremely hostile toward the West, including the US. The Sharia-ruled Taliban adopted Al-Qaeda fighters and caused - and is still causing -major troubles for the US. In fact, the Islamist threat that originated in Afghanistan has also affected nearby countries such as Pakistan. The honeymoon that existed temporarily between the US and the Taliban during the confrontation with the Russians has ended and the true nature of the Taliban as an anti-American regimen has been exposed.

Furthermore, the relations between Sudan and the US have significantly declined after the implementation of Sharia in the country.

Somalia has shown animosity toward the US and has become a breeding ground for terrorists since it became controlled by the Al-Shabbab Islamic movement that implemented Sharia Law in the land. Several US Muslim citizens also became radicalized in Somalia after Sharia dominated it.

If we compare the above countries to Islamic countries that did not make Sharia Law the main law of the land - such as Turkey, Qatar, UAE, Tunisia, Malaysia, and Indonesia - we notice that the former countries did not cause as much trouble for the US as the Sharia-ruled countries did. This is unlikely to be just a coincidence.

Sharia causes animosity toward the US (as a symbol of the highest power of western civilization) in several ways as we see below:

1- Sharia Law creates hatred toward the values of freedom and equality that are the founding principles of the US. For example, Sharia allows beating women, polygamy, and paedophilia. Additionally, it promotes killing apostates, gays, and adulteries. Islamists who adopt these Sharia values cannot have anything but hatred toward the countries that promotes freedom and liberty.

2- Sharia induces a notion of the supremacy of Islam above all non-Muslims. Several Quranic verses have been used to promote this principle of supremacy of Muslims and Islam (See: Quran [i] 48:28). Also, Sharia rules necessitate that Non-Muslims in Muslim society MUST pay a special form of Tax of humiliation 'Jizia' to the Muslim rulers. Non-Muslims-according to Sharia- MUST by disgraced [ii] during paying such taxes. The psychological contradiction in the mind of Islamists between their sense of the supremacy of Islam, and the reality of their weakness and inferiority, creates frustrations that lead to a desire to destroy or erase the world power (i.e. the US and other western countries) that 'deprives' them of their superiority.

3- Sharia principles teach the values of Jihad to spread the religion and subjugate non-Muslims to Islamic laws. With no single exception, all schools of Islamic Jurisprudence (Shafeii, Hanbali, Maleki, and Hanafi)-until today-promote that Muslims MUST declare war on and fight Non-Muslims until they subjugate to Islam.

The integration of the previous 3 factors can explain to some extent the observed positive correlation between implementing Sharia and creating hostility toward the US and other western countries.

To conclude; The trouble that has faced the US from countries that adopted Sharia Law in the last few decades, and the enormous costs that were paid by the US in these confrontations, should make the US consider Sharia not only an infringement to Human Rights but, more importantly, a serious threat to its national security and strategic interests.

Obama lifts freeze on $192 million aid package to Palestinian Authority

Funding serves 'security interests of the US,' says president. Congress blocked it after Abbas's bid for UN recognition of 'Palestine'

US President Barack Obama has lifted a ban on financial aid to the Palestinian Authority. An official with the US Agency for International Development said Saturday that the money had been restored.

Obama stated that the aid was "important to the security interests of the United States."

The US Congress froze a $192 million aid package to the Palestinian Authority after its president, Mahmoud Abbas, defied US pressure and sought to attain UN endorsement of Palestinian statehood last September. The presidential waiver means that aid can now be delivered.

The unilateral statehood gambit was strongly opposed by Israel, which said Abbas was seeking to avoid negotiating the necessary compromises and modalities of statehood with Israel.

Reset? Russia Threatens to Strike Missile Defense Sites

By Kate Hicks

5/3/2012

Remember Vice President Joe Biden's foreign policy speech at New York University last week? He slammed Mitt Romney for his "ignorance" about missile defense, and claimed that President Obama had managed to "reset" our relationship with Russia. Well, it looks like relations are still tenuous with our former chief global adversary. They're convinced that NATO missile defense sites sprinkled around Europe are aimed at Russian nuclear weapons, and not Iran, as the Alliance maintains. And if they don't like the look of the program, they're willing to strike pre-emptively:

Russia's most senior military officer said Thursday that Moscow would strike and destroy NATO missile defense sites in Eastern Europe before they came online if the U.S. pushes ahead with deployment.

"A decision to use destructive force pre-emptively will be taken if the situation worsens," Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov said at an international missile defense conference in Moscow attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.

The threat comes as talks about the missile defense system, which the U.S. and its allies insist is aimed at Iranian missiles, appear to have stalled.

White House Honors Nazi Collaborator in Proclamation for Jewish Heritage Month

Gertrude SteinNazi collaborator and American artist Gertrude Stein was among Jewish Americans praised in a White House announcement yesterday proclaiming Jewish Heritage Month.

The inclusion, noted by Algemeiner.com, in its original released form read, "Their history of unbroken perseverance and their belief in tomorrow's promise offers a lesson not only to Jewish Americans, but to all Americans. From Aaron Copland to Albert Einstein, Gertrude Stein to Justice Louis Brandeis."

Stein was a supporter and collaborator with the Nazis' Vichy regime in France, according to Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, who has criticized a current Stein art exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

According to Barbara Will, author of "Unlikely Collaboration: Gertrude Stein, Bernard Fay and the Vichy Dilemma," Stein survived the Vichy regime because she was a strong supporter of the Nazis, publicly proclaiming her support of Adolf Hitler and proposing him for a Nobel Peace Prize in the mid-1930s.

Chris Christie's Muslim Stance Makes Him Questionable VP Candidate

Christie - MohammedOne of the many issues that I have with President Barack Obama is his affinity for Muslims over Christians. America was founded as a Christian nation, but Obama has done his best to usher in Islam in place of Christianity and the last thing I want to see is Obama getting re-elected or see him replaced with an administration that will continue his Muslim promotion.

There seems to be no doubt that Mitt Romney will be the Republican presidential candidate, but who is he going to choose to be his vice presidential running mate?

One of the latest polls indicate that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is the most popular choice for the number two slot. Some of the reasons for his popularity is due to his strong budget cuts in New Jersey and his strong stand against the unions representing government employees.

However, Christie also has a track record of siding with or embracing Muslims and this concerns me.

Portion of homily by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C., of Peoria, Illinois:

"Remember that in past history other governments have tried to force Christians to huddle and hide only within the confines of their churches like the first disciples locked up in the Upper Room. In the late 19th century, Bismarck waged his "Kulturkampf," a Culture War, against the Roman Catholic Church, closing down every Catholic school and hospital, convent and monastery in Imperial Germany. Clemenceau, nicknamed "the priest eater," tried the same thing in France in the first decade of the 20th Century. Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care. In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama - with his radical, pro abortion and extreme secularist agenda - now seems intent on following a similar path."

The Daily Caller

In support of Bishop Jenky

Last week, over 100 faculty members at my alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, signed a letter calling on Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C., of Peoria, Illinois, to resign his position on the University's Board of Fellows. They did so in response to a homily the bishop gave on April 14, in which he denounced President Obama's HHS mandate that Catholics and Catholic institutions be forced to pay for services they consider intrinsically evil. The bishop accurately compared the mandate to similar measures taken by different regimes throughout history, including the regimes of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

The faculty members' public response to Bishop Jenky's remarks is both dishonest and unacademic. It is dishonest in that it deliberately takes the bishop's words out of context to impute to him a claim he never made. The faculty members selectively quote him, saying only that he "described President Obama as 'seem[ing] intent on following a similar path' to Hitler and Stalin." They immediately conclude this demonstrated "ignorance of history, insensitivity to victims of genocide and absence of judgment."

The bishop's comments were much more specific than the faculty members reveal. Consider his words in context:

Remember that in past history other governments have tried to force Christians to huddle and hide only within the confines of their churches like the first disciples locked up in the Upper Room. In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama - with his radical, pro abortion and extreme secularist agenda - now seems intent on following a similar path.

Genocide was not Hitler and Stalin's only crime. It is plain fact that both tyrants made it near impossible for the Catholic Church to function under their rule, especially in the realm of social services, and sought to displace it with state authority, state interests, and state values. Bishop Jenky did not, in any way, compare President Obama's HHS mandate to Hitler and Stalin's much more serious crime of genocide. Nor did he intend merely to evoke horror through rhetoric. Rather, he indicated that Hitler, Stalin, and others implemented policies unsettlingly similar to the HHS mandate. That is the clear point of his homily, and it is entirely true. Those faculty members suggesting otherwise are either being deliberately deceitful or are ignorant of history themselves.

Dhimmitude-- What does it mean? Obama used it in the health care bill.

Now isn't this interesting? It is used in the health care law.

Dhimmitude -- I had never heard the word until now. Type it into Google and start reading. Pretty interesting. It's on page 107 of the healthcare bill. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists... It is a REAL word.

Word of the Day: Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

ObamaCare allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States .. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking", and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.
How convenient. So, as a Christian or a Jew, you will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of your assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-Muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize Muslims. This is Dhimmitude.

I recommend sending this onto your contacts. American citizens need to know about it --

Obama Signs Executive Order Declaring International Law for the United States

On May 1, 2012, our Glorious Leader, Premier Barack Obama AKA Barry Soetoro AKA Barry the Rat, signed yet another Executive Order - Promoting International Regulatory Cooperation. This dictate is designed to standardize regulations between the United States and it's so called trading partners.

What is a regulation? A law. So what is actually being attempted here is a standardization of international law. It is an absolute violation of the Constitution for the United States to legislate our law outside of our borders.

Considering the many international security agreements the traitors occupying our highest seats of power have entered into, this latest executive order can absolutely be used to institute gun confiscation laws/regulations, without any consent by our Congress or our Judicial. And once these foreign laws are brought to the United States under the various security agreements, foreign troops will be brought in to enforce the foreign laws upon the people of the United States.

Alexander's Essay - May 3, 2012

The Battle of Athens (Tennessee)

A Case Study in Grassroots Restoration of the Rule of Law

"The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation ... forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of." -- James Madison (1788)

As a direct descendent of Tennessee Patriots who were veterans of every major conflict in defense of American Liberty from the American Revolution forward, I stand in awe of my home state's distinguished list of Patriot sons and daughters. From 19th-century notables like Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Nathan Bedford Forrest and Sam Davis, to a long list of 20th-century Patriots headed by Alvin York, warriors from the "Volunteer State" have distinguished themselves in battle with honor and courage. Even our state's nickname was earned in recognition of the valiant service of volunteer soldiers during the War of 1812, most notably during the Battle of New Orleans.

There was a group of lesser-known Tennessee Patriots, however, whose efforts to defend Liberty at home in 1946 were no less noble. This group of World War II veterans took up arms to restore Rule of Law in the quaint east Tennessee town of Athens (McMinn County), between Chattanooga and Knoxville. That fight became known as the Battle of Athens.

Given the rigorous efforts by the current regime of Socialist Democrats occupying the Executive and Legislative branches of our federal government, revisiting the Battle of Athens provides a timely lesson in Patriot devotion to Liberty. Democrats today have nationalized the corruption of the electoral process by both overt efforts (blocking measures such as Voter ID, and endorsing voter intimidation at polls) and much more insidious covert measures (increasing the rolls of voting village idiots who are dependent on wealth redistribution for their livelihood -- those who vote for their living rather than work for it).

In 1945, more than 3,000 battle-hardened vets returned home to McMinn County and found it brimming with political corruption. The GIs, who had fought for Liberty in the European and Pacific theaters, were not going to surrender it to corrupt politicians on their own soil. A spokesman for these Patriots proclaimed, "The principles that we fought for in this past war do not exist in McMinn County."

Despite numerous complaints about the corruption since 1940, the U.S. Department of Justice, under the control of Franklin Roosevelt, ignored citizens' charges of election fraud and did not respond.

I first read the history of this incident almost 30 years ago, but I did not know until I was researching the Battle of Athens for this essay that a distinguished Republican lady, whom I have known for more than three decades, was an eyewitness to this battle.

Lill Coker is the daughter of Dr. Horace Thomas, one of the veterans who gathered with others to restore Liberty in Athens that night. She recalls the events well.

Her father had given Lill permission to go up to the roof of their home and watch the events unfold at a distance. She listened to accounts being broadcast live by the local radio station, WLAR, which was located across the street from the jail, and recollected that the radio announcer was broadcasting from under his desk to avoid bullets whizzing through his studio.

The Battle of Athens pitted Lill's father and other seasoned GIs against a large contingent of sheriff's deputies. The "law enforcement" officials were agents of Sheriff Pat Mansfield and his predecessor, wealthy state Sen. Paul Cantrell -- both benefactors of a corrupt statewide Democrat political machine controlled by E.H. "Boss" Crump from Memphis. In order to ensure the election and re-election of politicians running that machine, Mansfield and Cantrell had sheriff's deputies rigging the ballot boxes in Athens -- thus undermining the integrity of elections, the most basic expression of Liberty and the will of the people in our constitutional republic.

By 1946, some veterans were determined to challenge the Cantrell/Mansfield corruption machine, and they qualified for several posts on the upcoming election ballot. One of these men was Knox Henry, the GI candidate for sheriff of McMinn County. Endeavoring to ensure honest elections, a month ahead of the primaries they petitioned the FBI to send election monitors. As with previous requests for help to restore Rule of Law, their requests were ignored.

On Election Day, 1 August 1946, Mansfield imported some 200 strong-armed "deputies" to ensure the election would go his way. Mansfield's men ejected the veterans from polling sites, and in one instance a deputy pointed his gun at them as they attempted to re-enter a poll and shouted, "If you sons of bitches cross this street I'll kill you!" Mansfield arrested one GI poll watcher, Walter Ellis, who insisted on monitoring polling in the courthouse. One black voter, Tom Gillespie, was shot after a confrontation with a Mansfield deputy who denied him the right to vote.

After a long day of disputes at the polls, Mansfield and about 50 of his men gathered up all the ballot boxes and took them to the county jail "for protection."

The veterans weren't about to let the 1946 election cycle fall to the same corruption that had undermined the previous three elections. In the early evening, a group of vets who had been ejected as poll watchers mustered up some fellow vets. Being short of arms and ammunition sufficient to challenge Mansfield's crew and retrieve the ballot boxes, these men "borrowed" keys to the local National and State Guard armories and requisitioned three M-1 rifles, five Colt .45 pistols and 24 British Enfield rifles.

The vets then went to the jail, where they offered the deputies safe exit if they would turn over the ballot boxes. The deputies declined and shot two of the vets. The GIs returned fire in a pitched gunfight that would continue into the early morning hours of 2 August, when a number of vets from neighboring Meigs County improvised explosive devices (baled dynamite sticks) onto the jail's porch in order to soften up the resolve of the occupants. Shortly thereafter, the deputies did surrender and the GIs secured the building and ballots. (Cantrell and Mansfield, cowards that they were, had abandoned their deputies and fled into the dark early in the battle.)

Post Your Opinion: Were the GIs right to take matters into their own hands?

The non-partisan veterans delivered this message to the radio announcer at WLAR: "The GI election officials went to the polls unarmed to have a fair election, as Pat Mansfield promised. They were met with blackjacks and pistols. Several GI officials were beaten and the ballot boxes were moved to the jail. The GI supporters went to the jail to get these ballot boxes and were met by gunfire. The GI candidates had promised that the votes would be counted as cast. They had no choice but to meet fire with fire. In the precincts where the GI candidates were allowed watchers they led by three to one majorities."

The following morning, the armory weapons were cleaned and returned, and the ballot boxes were turned over for a legitimate count.

In the final count the GI candidate, Knox Henry, was elected sheriff of McMinn County, and three other vets filled key county positions. In order to thwart future corruption, the town of Athens formed a new police force. In addition, elected county officials agreed to a $5,000 pay limit. In the decade that followed, the McMinn County reforms were adopted in many other counties across the state.

Summarizing her recollection of events, Lill Coker told me, "I was so proud of all the veterans and my father for taking a stand and doing what had to be done to make sure Rule of Law was restored. They had to go against those who were supposed to be upholding law and order. The vets had gone to fight for our country in World War II and came home to find that a political machine had robbed their fellow citizens of their rights. We must be eternally vigilant against corruption of our electoral process. I am very proud of our Tennessee legislators for passing the voter ID law. We can lose our freedom just as the people of Athens did during the war years when no one stood up to the sheriff's bullies at the polling places."

The Battle of Athens was much more than an extended gunfight between small-town political factions. Historian Dan Daley wrote, "It was a violent but decisive clash of two social and political cultures, between the past and the future of rural, state, and ultimately the federal government, and a reconfirmation of the deeply ingrained ideal that Americans can assert themselves against tyranny, even when it was taking place in their own backyard."

Indeed, the corruption in the small town of Athens is but a minuscule example of constitutional abrogation that has now been nationalized by the Democrat Party. Indeed, the corrupt Chicago politics that herded a local charlatan "community organizer" into the presidency represents fraud on a grand scale.

Among the lessons learned from the 1946 events in McMinn County are these two:

First and foremost, this incident, like so many before and since, affirms why our Founders codified in the Second Amendment the unalienable right of the people to "keep and bear arms." As Justice Joseph Story (appointed to the Supreme Court by our Constitution's author, James Madison) wrote, "The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them." History records the appalling 20th-century consequences of disarming the people.

The second lesson is that those of us who have pledged by sacred oath to "support and defend" the Liberty enshrined in our Constitution against "enemies foreign," must be equally devoted to the defense of Liberty against insult by "enemies domestic."

Post Your Opinion: Would honoring your oath inspire you to take up arms against tyranny, even on our own soil?

One certainly hopes we can defeat the socialist corruption undermining our Constitution nationally, with ballots, not bullets, but one way or the other, the next American Revolution is just over the horizon.

(For a full accounting of this case study in grassroots restoration of Rule of Law, we have photos, a chronology and media reports at The Patriot's Battle of Athens resource page.)

Everyone Booze Up and Riot

Riots are the exclusive domain of those who view themselves as outside the law. Whether they are outside the law because they are above or below it is a matter of perspective. The rioters may see themselves as the oppressed who are below the law while their victims tend to think of them as above the law, with the power to rob and kill, without paying any significant price for it. All that is true whether we are talking about Russian peasants killing Jews, Indonesians killing ethnic Chinese or African-Americans killing whites.

The riot is usually directed at the authorities or some vulnerable group, sometimes both, but invariably one of them takes precedence. The authorities prefer that the rioters direct their rage at a conveniently vulnerable group and afterward the vulnerable group takes the blame for the violence directed at them. The rioters treat those few of their number who were killed in the looting spree as martyrs, while the rioted-upon pick up the broken glass and try to reopen their stores again.

Minorities rarely riot against majorities for the practical reason that rioters are cowards and they want to have the numbers on their side. A riot is less often a symptom of injustice and more often a sign that they have the numbers and that all they need is a pretext to go out for a fine day of looting and maiming. A riot isn't a response to injustice, it's a power play by people who believe that they are above the law and that their victims are outnumbered.

It's a rather odd development that white people in America took on the role of the Chinese in Indonesia or the Jews in Russia, long before they became a demographic minority, but not entirely so. Race riots have mostly happened in cities where white people had become or were on the way to becoming a minority. And all three groups share the vital characteristic of being hard-working types whose success is overestimated by the looters looking for a taste of that success without having to go out and work for it.

The hated groups are not satisfied with their lot in life, instead they go out and strive for more possessed of the peculiar belief that they can rise above their station in life through hard work and ingenuity. Their neighbors rarely appreciate this attitude. In their world someone who has more than they do probably stole it from them. And when they booze up and riot, they're only getting back what's rightfully theirs.

Poll shows Obama even (at best) in Florida and Ohio

Posted: 03 May 2012 01:09 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

The Obama campaign will take little encouragement from a new Quinnipiac University Polling Institute survey of three so-called swing states. The poll shows President Obama and Mitt Romney essentially tied in Ohio and Florida, with Obama 8 points ahead in Pennsylvania. The numbers are:

Florida: Obama 43, Romney 44
Ohio: Obama 44, Romney 42
Pennsylvania: Obama 47, Romney 39

In late March, the same polling organization had Obama leading by 6 points in Florida and 7 points in Ohio. Obama's lead in Pennsylvania at that time was only 3 points.

None of the March results made much sense to me. I don't consider Pennsylvania to be a legitimate swing state. Romney will probably run more than 5 points worse there than he will nationally, as the current Quinnipiac polling suggests. Accordingly, if Romney wins Pennsylvania, it likely will mean that he has run sufficiently well that he doesn't need that state to prevail in the Electoral College.

By contrast, Ohio and Florida are the quintessential swing states. Polling there should look almost exactly like it does nationally (where the two candidates are in a dead heat), and in the latest Quinnipiac results this is the case.

However, these Quinnipiac results may be more favorable to Romney than meets the eye. Ed Morrissey points out that Quinnipiac probably over-sampled Democrats in both states:

The [Democrat/Republican/Independent mix] in Florida is 31/28/37 [and] in Ohio 34/26/34. . . .The CNN exit polls in 2008 - a banner year for Obama - put Florida at 37/34/29 [and] Ohio at 39/31/30. In 2010, Florida was even-up at 36/36/28, while Ohio was 36/37/28. . . .Republicans are consistently underweighted in these Q-polls. Obama is probably in even more trouble than the numbers above indicate.

Thanks Ed. You have made my day.

Bachmann Campaigning With Romney

Posted: 03 May 2012 01:03 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

Earlier today, Michele Bachmann endorsed Mitt Romney with this statement:

This November, Americans will be at the polls with a serious choice-they can vote for more of Barack Obama's transformation of America, with more joblessness, higher energy prices, fewer opportunities for our children, more government controls, bailouts, and failed economic policies, or they can vote for a new vision of prosperity and liberty. I'm honored to announce that today, I am endorsing Governor Mitt Romney for President of the United States, a man who will preserve the American dream of prosperity and liberty.

We've had a hard fought battle already to choose a candidate. Being personally involved in the endorsement process was an honor for me. And I want to thank everyone involved in the campaigns, from the candidates, the delegates, the volunteers, all of us can be proud of our efforts.

This is the last chance we have to keep America from going "forward", over the cliff, as Governor Romney said, and restore the values of prosperity and freedom. This is the opportunity for conservatives, independents, and disaffected Democrats to join me and Governor Romney in denying Obama a second term. On November 6th, the only option is Mitt Romney for President.

Michele's endorsement was notably more heartfelt, I would say, than Newt Gingrich's. More important than the endorsement, perhaps, is the fact that Michele is campaigning with Romney today in Virginia:

Endorsements don't generally count for much, but this one may have some real value for Romney. Michele enjoys not just respect but a great deal of affection from precisely that segment of Republican voters, and not a few independents, who were slow to warm to Romney during the primary process. Not only that, Michele is one of the most energetic people in politics. I suspect we will see her on the campaign trail, promoting Romney where her conservative credibility can most help him. I've never given much credence to the idea that any significant number of conservatives will sit out this presidential election, but enthusiastic support from figures like Michele Bachmann can help make sure that doesn't happen.

Russia Threatens Pre-Emptive Attack on U.S. Installations

Posted: 03 May 2012 12:42 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

The Chief of the Russian General Staff, Russia's top military officer, has threatened to attack American (technically, NATO) anti-missile installations in Eastern Europe:

"A decision to use destructive force preemptively will be taken if the situation worsens," Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov said at an international missile defense conference in Moscow attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.

So the threat was made to our faces.

The threat comes as talks about the missile defense system, which the U.S. and its allies insist is aimed at Iranian missiles, appear to have stalled.

"We have not been able to find mutually-acceptable solutions at this point and the situation is practically at a dead end," Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said.

Ellen Tauscher, the U.S. special envoy for strategic stability and missile defense, denied that talks about the anti-missile system are stalemated. Personally, I don't see why we are having such talks at all. The system will be wholly defensive, and Russia has no standing to object to it. Tauscher attributed the lack of progress in negotiations to the upcoming elections in the U.S.:

But she acknowledged Wednesday that the recent elections in Russia and the upcoming elections in the U.S. make it "pretty clear that this is a year in which we're probably not going to achieve any sort of a breakthrough."

Am I missing something, or did she just tell the world that Obama will have more flexibility after the election?

One wants to resist the temptation to politicize everything, but really: is there anyone who imagines that the Chief of the Russian General Staff would threaten an act of war against the United States if we had a real president?

Latest Senate race polls

Posted: 03 May 2012 12:21 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Four new polls from three Senate races present mixed, but mostly good news for Republicans. First, a Rasmussen poll of the Nevada race shows Republican Sen. Dean Heller with an 11 point lead over Democratic Rep. Shelley Barkley. Previous polls had suggested a somewhat closer race.

But the Nevada seat currently is held by Heller, who was appointed to replace Republican John Ensign, and few expect the Dems to pick it up. The more significant races with new polls out are Virginia and Montana, the two states that (along with Missouri) were instrumental in the Senate's shift to Democratic control in 2006.

In Virginia, a PPP poll gives Democrat Tim Kaine a statistically insignificant lead of 46-45 over former Senator George Allen. PPP it should be noted, is a partner of the Daily Kos and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). However, its Virginia results are in-line with recent Rasmussen polling. This race looks like a true toss-up.

In Montana, PPP has the incumbent Democrat, Jon Tester, leading Republican challenger, Rep. Denny Rehberg by a margin of 48-43. But Rasmussen has Rehberg up by 53-43, and this result is more in line with past polling of the race.

I'm no expert on Montana politics, but I think it's expecting a lot of Tester, whose voting record is liberal ( ACU rating of 20 percent), to hold this seat in a year when he will be on the same ticket as President Obama.

Obama's foreign policy - good enough for government work?

Posted: 03 May 2012 08:03 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

The conventional wisdom is that President Obama has the advantage in this year's presidential campaign when it comes to foreign policy. I agree. His signature accomplishments - the killing of bin Laden, the end of our military involvement in Iraq, and the promise to wind down our involvement in Afghanistan - are likely to be deemed good enough for government work. But then, so was Bill Clinton's foreign policy, until 9/11.

If we hold Obama to a higher standard, it quickly becomes apparent that he and his "smart power" practitioners have the wrong line on nearly every aspect of foreign policy. This isn't surprising. Obama is ambivalent about American interests as they traditionally have been understood, and this ambivalence is reflected in the manner and degree to which he pursues them.

The areas in which Obama has taken the wrong line in foreign policy will be familiar to most of our readers - Russia, Iran, Israel, and the Arab world as a whole head the list. I would like to focus, though, on South Asia, a crucial area that, apart from Afghanistan, has drawn less attention. Today, I write about Pakistan.

Obama is second to none when it comes to pronouncing Pakistan, but his policy towards that country has been misguided from the start. As Shashank Joshi shows in the April 2001 issue of Current History, Obama came into office holding great hope that Pakistan would be a full-fledged partner in the war in Afghanistan. Naturally, Pakistan played on this hope, and was rewarded with the Kerry-Lugar-Berman "Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act" of 2009, which conferred $7.5 billion in aid over five years.

Obama was willing to believe in Pakistan's viability as a full-fledged partner despite statements from Mike McConnell, Director of National Intelligence, that Pakistan regularly supplies weapons used to attack Afghan and coalition forces. Indeed, the U.S. had a telephone intercept in which Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Pakistan's chief of staff, described the head of the Haggani network in Afghanistan as a "strategic asset." The Haggani network is the Taliban's partner in the war in Afghanistan.

Obama's strategic alliance with Pakistan proved to be a joke. In 2011, Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, told a Senate hearing that Pakistan had committed an act of war against the U.S. in connection with the bombing of the U.S. embassy in Kabul. And Pakistan not only harbored bin Laden, but reacted with outrage when we killed the terrorist leader and mastermind.

In 2009, Bruce Riedel, a CIA analyst, was a strong proponent of working with Pakistan. By 2011, according to Joshi, Reidel had concluded that our policy of Pakistan should be one of "containment, with no delusion that we are allies."

Why did Obama view Pakistan as a solid ally? Perhaps the answer lies in combination of bad advice and wishful thinking. In addition, though, the president seems to be a sucker for sketchy regimes with an anti-Western bent and a grievance (of whatever merit) against a more pro-Western nation.

With this in mind, we should remember that the U.S. does have an important natural ally in South Asia, namely India. Obama's shabby treatment of Pakistan's great adversary is the subject of an upcoming post about Obama's wrongheaded foreign policy.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 187 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Obama's China Fiasco

Chen Guancheng's life is in danger from the Chinese government, and the Obama Administration bears major responsibility for his predicament. Chen is a blind human rights activist in China. Last month he escaped house arrest, breaking his foot when he jumped off a wall, and sought refuge at the U.S. embassy in Beijing.

Why would Chen risk his life and flee to our embassy? Chen has endured beatings, jail and house arrest in order to protest China's vicious forced abortion policy. His daughter has been escorted to school by Chinese security, and Chen and his wife have not seen their son for two years.

China furiously demanded an apology from the U.S. for granting Chen sanctuary in our embassy. And why not? Given Obama's previous apologies and bowing to foreign monarchs, the communist dictators reasonably assumed they would get one.

After intense negotiations, a deal was reached whereby Chen would be reunited with his family and remain in China. It seemed, for the moment, that everyone was happy. U.S. officials escorted Chen to a hospital, where he met his family. Then they abandoned him there.

Late last night, it was reported that Chen desperately wanted to leave China. He only agreed to leave the U.S. embassy due to threats against his family by the Chinese government. But according to one report, "Chen said he came under tremendous pressure from American officials -- 'not those from the embassy but others' -- to leave the diplomatic facility as quickly as possible." Who were the "others" who had an interest in getting Chen out of the picture?

For U.S. and Chinese officials, Chen could not have been more inconsiderate in planning his escape. His arrival at the U.S. embassy just happened to coincide with a high-profile visit by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

As CBS News reported, "What was supposed to have been two days of high level talks between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, and Chinese leaders has turned into a diplomatic fiasco over the fate of one man." Obama wants China to stay happy. After all, it is financing his record deficit spending spree by buying our Treasury bonds.

Unfortunately, this appears to be a pattern that further underscores just how uninterested the Obama Administration is about human rights issues. It was reported this week that Vice President Joe Biden's office last year ordered the State Department to reject an asylum request by a high-ranking communist official in order to avoid disrupting an upcoming visit to America by the Chinese vice president.

In fact, it seems human rights have completely fallen off the State Department's agenda. A congressionally mandated human rights report is more than two months late.

In a statement yesterday, Speaker John Boehner demanded that Obama take responsibility for Chen's safety:

"I am deeply disturbed by the most recent report ... which suggests Chen Guangcheng was pressured to leave the U.S. embassy against his will amid flimsy promises and possible threats of harm to his family. In such a situation, the United States has an obligation to stand with the oppressed, not with the oppressor. Having handed Chen Guangcheng back over to the Chinese government, the Obama administration is responsible for ensuring his safety."

The message being sent by the Obama Administration to our allies and oppressed people around the world is devastating. Obama has embraced the Arab Spring and is negotiating with the Muslim Brotherhood. He has repeatedly reached out to Iran. He is whispering sweet nothings in the ears of Russians leaders about what they can do together after his reelection. And Tuesday night Barack Obama offered to make peace with the Taliban.

Chen Guancheng now fears for his life and his family's safety. He is begging to be flown out of the country with his family as soon as possible. The Washington Post reports that U.S. officials are not being allowed to meet with Chen, adding, "What briefly looked like a deft diplomatic achievement for Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton turned into a potential debacle."

In an interview with CNN, Chen said, "I'm very disappointed with the U.S. government." He's not the only one.

Penn State Study: Wal-Mart = Hate

Here's another one for the "junk science" files. A study from Pennsylvania State University suggests that Wal-Mart stores and other "big-box" retailers "promote the creation of hate groups." How so? Perhaps by driving local merchants out of business, and these businessmen tend to be members of civic groups. That was one guess.

Here was another guess: "The researchers said that because Wal-Mart promotes typical Protestant values, such as savings and thrift, the cues may lead customers to adopt other beliefs, including intolerant attitudes." So now faith and fiscal responsibility are examples of racism too.

Let's see if I have this straight: Wal-Mart has opened so many stores that it became the largest private employer in the country. And in the process of creating so many jobs, it also created so much hate that America elected its first black president? Right.

For decades the left has hyperventilated about the "military-industrial complex." Well, this study is a good example of the left's "government-academia-media complex" that wants to undermine our most fundamental institutions and take out our most successful businesses one by one. The only thing that will be left in the end is big government. And that didn't work out so well for the Soviet Union.

National Day Of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer, an annual event under the able leadership of our friend Shirley Dobson, who, once again, has done an outstanding job. This year's Honorary Chairman is Dr. David Jeremiah. Here is his prayer for our country this year:

" Heavenly Father, Every good gift and perfect gift comes from You. You are a faithful God and Your mercy endures forever. You have promised to bless the nation that trusts in You.  Our currency proclaims "In God We Trust,' but in our culture we are far from You.

"In the words of the prophet Daniel, 'We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.'

"We come before You once more, seeking Your forgiveness and mercy.  You, O God, are our only hope... Hear our prayer and, for Your honor's sake, shine Your face upon this nation.

"Give our leaders the desire to seek Your wisdom and the courage to follow Your guidance... and watch over the men and women of our armed forces as they sacrifice for the cause of freedom.

"We give You thanks for all You have done for us, and we earnestly pray that You will help us become, once again, a nation whose God is the Lord. In the name of Your Son, and our Savior, we pray this prayer. Amen."

"If my people who are called by My Name..."

May 02, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins

By Debbie Leininger

Thursday, May 3, is an annual observance set aside by Congress as the National Day of Prayer.  It is a day for Americans to seek God's guidance and blessing upon America and its leaders. On this day millions of people from coast to coast will pray to God on behalf of this nation individually or in prayer services.

However, before we pray, it would be wise for us to review the conditions that were set by God in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and change their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

"If My people who are called by My name" refers to the individual believer. God wants each of us to humble ourselves before Him, confess our sins, and change our wicked ways.

 Overcriminalized Update

Members of Congress Work to Rein In Overcriminalization

What do a legendary guitar maker and a lobster importer have in common? Both are alleged to have run afoul of the Lacey Act, one of the most egregious, overcriminalized statutes on the books. Now some Members of Congress are working to inject some much-needed fairness into the justice system.

ABOUT OVERCRIMINALIZATION

The Heritage Foundation and a coalition of public interest legal groups are committed to reversing the troubling trend of overcriminalization, which is defined by three attributes:

1. Federalizing crime that properly belongs under state and local jurisdiction;

2. Imposing criminal penalties upon persons who acted without criminal intent (mens rea);

3. Applying criminal sanctions to conduct that historically has not been considered wrongful.

This Legislative Update includes bills our researchers have identified that add or expand federal criminal offenses or penalties, but it generally does NOT include bills involving drugs, firearms, or crimes of violence.

The Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation  Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is the nation's most broadly supported public policy organization. Heritage created the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies in 2001 to educate government officials, the media and the public about the Constitution, legal principles and how they affect public policy.

Is the Postal Service Doomed?

If you ran a business with $25 billion in losses over the last five years, $20 billion in annual losses projected in the coming years, and 80 percent of its locations losing money, do you think that your company would stay afloat? Should it be rescued with a bailout from its customers? Or should it change its business model, eliminate expenses, and innovate to be competitive in the marketplace? These are the questions facing Congress as it considers what to do about the ever-struggling United States Postal Service (USPS).

The USPS is indeed at a crisis point. Barring an intervention from Congress by May 15, USPS plans to  start closing as many as 3,700 post offices. Those numbers might sound jarring, but in reality the post office closures (not including the processing centers) only save $200 million under USPS's estimates, and only 4,500 employees would be "affected" -- though many of them would be reassigned rather than let go. It's only a small part of what's needed to save the USPS.

But even the small changes being proposed are kicking up a firestorm of opposition. Consider the post office in Hope, Minnesota. It sees about eight customers a day, requiring some seven minutes of service. The USPS wanted to close the facility and offer service to the 90 residents of Hope at the Ellendale post office, just 10 minutes away. Still, the closure was actively opposed, ending with an appeal to the Postal Regulatory Commission before the move was recently cleared.

Some politicians in Washington, of course, are trying to swoop in to the rescue in defense of this inefficient American institution. The Senate last week approved a measure (S. 1789) to prevent these changes until the USPS establishes new service standards for mail, effectively delaying action for six months.

Now it's up to the House to take action, and the Senate's plan faces fierce opposition. Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, says the measure is nothing more than politicians trying to save post offices in their back yards. "Rather than letting an objective and independent process continue on, senators would inject parochial politics into the postmaster general's decision making," Issa said.

Heritage's James Gattuso explains that there are three possible roads ahead for the Postal Service:

It could continue as an obsolete, politicized institution doomed to extinction. Alternatively, it could become a taxpayer-supported dinosaur existing on billions in taxpayer funding each year. Or will it be allowed to restructure and innovate, giving it a chance to find a place in today's economy? Congress should support the third of these and give the Postal Service a chance to save itself--and taxpayers--from disaster. That means allowing the Postal Service to adopt reforms, not stopping it.

Gattuso recommends that in order to truly pull itself out of the red, the USPS needs to make substantial cuts and closings that are much more significant than those on the table today. That means shuttering larger and busier facilities. But unfortunately, the USPS cannot quickly and effectively enact changes and reforms. Even under current law, Gattuso writes, the Postal Service is barred from closing any small office simply because it is losing money. The decision is run through a review process that can take upwards of 180 days. Is it any wonder that the USPS is flailing?

Instead of throwing up barriers to reform as the Senate is doing, Gattuso says Congress should give the Postal Service more flexibility to reform itself with necessary cost-cutting measures and innovations like automated postal "kiosks" or "approved shippers" for packages to stamp sales at supermarkets and other stores.

The Postal Service does not have to be a joke of inefficiency, and it can continue its mission of serving the American people if Congress allows for necessary reforms.

Chen Guangcheng's Fight Against Forced Abortion

Commentary continues to swirl around human rights advocate Chen Guangcheng's treatment by the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and by Chinese officials.

While the future of U.S. - China relations on the matter remains to be seen, international concern for Chen's plight has refocused attention on the horrific human rights atrocities of China's one-child policy, which Chen has sacrificed his livelihood and now safety to expose.

A well-known forced abortion opponent in China and around the world, Chen has found himself a victim on the country's disregard for the rule of law and basic human rights for many years. Chen, a self-taught legal advocate, spent four years in prison for his work in exposing the forced abortions and sterilization procedures performed on women in Linyi, Shandong province, by government population control officials.

Since his release from prison in 2010, the outspoken activist, his wife, and two children have been confined to de facto house arrest, without trial and without so much as formal charges against Chen.

Before his arrest in 2006, the human rights advocate would often hold meetings with members of the Linyi community, hearing heart-wrenching stories from women forced to undergo third-trimester abortions, men sterilized against their will, and individuals tortured and harassed because a family member was pregnant with an unauthorized child.

Reggie Littlejohn, president of Women's Rights Without Frontiers, has released a report detailing notes from some of Chen's investigations of abuse and coercion in Linyi. Included are numerous stories of involuntary sterilization, intimidation tactics, extortion, and outright assault of family members or neighbors of women who were discovered to be pregnant without permission.

China's mistreatment of Chen and ignorance of the rule of law and human rights is just an extension of the disregard for human dignity inherent in the country's one-child policy has caused untold physical and emotional suffering for women and men throughout the country since it was first announced in 1980.

Worse, the one-child policy - coupled with a cultural preference for boys - has nearly devastated China's female population. Sex-selective abortion, abandonment, and infanticide has resulted in almost 40 million "missing" Chinese girls since 1980.

The United States and other international leaders who claim to support individual freedom and human dignity must stand with Chen Guangcheng, individually, and with all of the people of China in denouncing the human rights abuses perpetrated under the country's coercive population control policies.

Obama Steals Mao's Slogan

By Jeffrey Lord

"Great Leap Forward" is Americanized to "Forward" -- a socialist campaign blunders.

Most characteristic of this preaching [of the Great Leap Forward] was its utopianism, the promise of a bright future just in the offing, "three years of suffering leading to a thousand years of happiness."

- Franz Schurmann writing in
Ideology and Organization in Communist China

Forward!

Comrades, you can't make it up. Can you say "campaign blunder"? Or is it a blunder? Is it deliberate? The socialist mind at work in campaign mode?

The Obama campaign has picked a portion of one of the most infamous socialist slogans of 20th century history to use as its own new campaign slogan.

"Forward" is the new Obama slogan, Team Obama borrowing boldly from none other than the late Communist Party of China leader Chairman Mao.

Mao's slogan? "The Great Leap Forward."

Rather than describing this myself, let's take a tour of various descriptions of this wonderful, Communist slogan...

 PA Leadership Coalition

Good Intentions Are Not Enough

By Nicholas Pandelidis, M.D. - Director of Health Care Policy, PA Coalition for Responsible Government

Liberal supporters of The Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, fail to acknowledge that good intentions alone do not result in intended outcomes.

The most cursory objective evaluation of the law reveals Obamacare cannot possibly achieve the stated goal of affordable, quality health care for all.  By claiming that Obamacare addresses the growing costs of health care costs and provides access to the indigent when it does not actually do so, proponents perpetuate the problems and prevent development of viable solutions.

Let's examine Obamacare's financing:  Two years ago, we were told that Obamacare would cost $940 billion and would be paid for by $500 billion of new taxes and $575 billion dollars of cuts to Medicare - the same Medicare that has an unfunded liability of $34 trillion.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) recently revised that projected cost to $1.76 trillion over 10 years - double the initial estimate.  What changed in the last two years?  Nothing!

The original projection was unreasonably calculated on the basis of 10 years of new taxes and six years of Obamacare expenditure.  Two years have passed so the new calculation assumes eight years of new taxes and six years of expenditures.

How about the appropriate calculation of one year of new revenues and one year of new expenditures?  Answer:  $2.3 trillion.  Don't government accounting practices make you sick?

The fiscal impracticability of Obamacare negates whatever good the reform allegedly accomplishes. But, financing aside, does Obamacare achieve quality health care for all?

It is estimated that at least 23 million persons will remain uninsured even after Obamacare is fully implemented.  Many who do receive coverage will enter the Medicaid program.  The CBO assumed 19 million more persons, but more realistic projections suggest 29 million.

A recent study out of the University of Virginia found what many earlier studies suggested:  Medicaid patient have poor access, increased treatment costs, and poor outcomes.  In this study of more than 900,000 patients who underwent surgical procedures, Medicaid patients had significantly worse outcomes as compared to privately insured patients, Medicare patients, and even uninsured patients.

Why should this be so?  The study's authors postulated that because Medicaid reimburses so poorly, those patients have difficulty accessing elective care.

For example, a person with private insurance whose cancer is identified through a screening colonoscopy quickly undergoes evaluation and has a timely surgery.  The same person with Medicaid is much less likely to have regular care and a screening colonoscopy and not infrequently presents with a bowel obstruction as the first sign of their cancer. They then undergo an emergent surgical procedure in poor medical condition.  No wonder, Medicaid patients have a nearly a 100% increased mortality rate!

Objective assessment of Obamacare exposes its indefensible financial estimates and reveals its untenable true costs.  Both experience and reason appropriately compel us to reject the top down regulation of health care that compels doctors to follow government-decreed medical protocols that would, for example, deny mammograms to women under the age of 50.

By failing to honestly evaluate Obamacare's ability to achieve its intended goals, supporters of Obamacare hurt the very persons they claim to be protecting.

Undeniably, health care costs threaten the financial well-being of individuals, families, businesses and government at all levels.  And the prime driver of costs is the third-party payer system - not insurance but a pre-payment financial scheme that encourages overutilization and discourages transparency and accountability regarding costs and quality.  Other contributors to costs include federal tax policy that promotes employer-provided insurance; insurance regulations and mandates that increase cost, decrease choice, and decrease insurance company competition; and inappropriate medical malpractice litigation.

The path to affordable health care for all is through logical free-market solutions such as individual health savings accounts, high-deductible policies, elimination of federal tax bias against individually owned insurance, reduction of  insurance mandates and regulation and tort reform.

Individual decision-making, economic freedom and Judeo-Christian values underlie free market solutions that would truly promote more affordable and accessible health care.  The good intentions of liberals and their "we-know-what-is-best-for-you" ideology lead to dependency, poor care and ultimately national collapse.

Note:  Nicholas Pandelidis, a York-based surgeon, is Vice President of the PA Chapter of Docs4patientcare, an organization dedicated to the repeal of OBAMACARE and passage of viable market-based reforms.

NRA CEO LaPierre Rallies Conservatives at Massive Gun Rights Convention

This column by ACRU Senior Legal Analyst Ken Klukowski was published May 2, 2012 on Breitbart.com.

"Our Founding Fathers enshrined the Second Amendment for one purpose: survival. Survival of each citizen. Survival of a nation." With those words as his theme, the longest-serving head of the National Rifle Association (NRA)--CEO Wayne LaPierre--trumpeted unity for all conservatives going into the 2012 presidential election.

The NRA held its 141st Annual Meeting in April in St. Louis. Over 70,000 members of the oldest and largest civil-rights organization in America gathered from across the nation. They heard speeches from presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Perry, as well as other political heavyweights, shopped through over 300,000 square feet of guns and gear, and heard speeches from the officers of the most-feared political juggernaut in America.

The reason for the NRA's clout is obvious. Gallup reports that the NRA currently enjoys an impressive 68% favorable rating among the American population, a number most politicians can only dream of retaining over any length of time. For comparison, Gallup currently has President Barack Obama at 47% approval.

America's Two-Faced Liberals

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published May 2, 2012 on Townhall.com.

President Barack Obama and Wall Street occupiers, along with their allies in the mainstream media and on college campuses, have maintained an ongoing attack on high-income earners, people they call 1 percenters. Listening to their deceitful demagoguery, you would naturally think of them as 99 percenters, but you'd be dead-wrong.

Last week, MSN Money posted a report titled "The richest counties in America." According to the report, residents of those 15 wealthiest counties "have median household incomes that are double the national average." Three of those counties have a median income of more than $100,000. The report goes on to say, "While many Americans struggle to find jobs, balance their budgets and get by with less, some folks are living high on the hog." Let's look at some of those counties.

Loudoun County, Va., has a median household income of $119,540, making it the nation's richest county. Virginia's Fairfax County is next, with a median household income of $103,010; the median price of a house is $507,800. Third is Howard County, Md., where the median household income is $101,771. These three richest counties have seven nearby high-income neighbors, which include Arlington and Montgomery counties. The nation's richest counties are close to Washington, D.C., where people come to do good and wind up doing well for themselves.

The Immorality of Obamanomics

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published May 2, 2012 on The American Spectator website.

The President's economic policies are usually criticized for their practical ineffectiveness. Thinking people know that the result of the President's 1970s retro economic policies has been the worst recovery from a recession since the Great Depression, with persistent high unemployment, declining real wages and incomes, soaring poverty, doubling gas prices, and budding inflation sure to get much worse.

Unthinking people still call national conservative talk radio shows to say the President's economic policies can't be faulted because the economy was doing poorly when he entered office, and so his policies enjoy unlimited time to produce any positive results. They make national fools of themselves in so demonstrating that they know nothing about the historical prosperity of their own country, and why.

But there is a much more fundamental problem. Besides not working, the policies of Obamanomics are just plain immoral.

ACLU Promotes Christian-Bashing Speaker

This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published May 1, 2012 on the American Thinker website.

The ACLU of Oregon gave a prominent platform in March to sex-advice columnist and "anti-bullying" advocate Dan Savage, who bashed the Bible and Christian teens in a profanity-laced speech on April 13 in Seattle.

"Savage was supposed to be delivering a speech about anti-bullying at the National High School Journalism Conference sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association," Fox News reported. "But it turned into an episode of Christian-bashing."

A Youtube video of Savage shows him repeatedly mocking the Bible as Christian students walk up the aisle to exit the event. The self-styled, anti-bullying expert who created the "It Gets Better" anti-suicide media campaign that encourages students to identify as homosexual, then mocks the Christian students, calling them "pansy-assed."

The Audacity of Cynicism

This column by ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight was published April 27, 2012 on The Washington Times website.

Barack Obama's 2006 best-seller, The Audacity of Hope, gave us a number of clues as to how he would govern based on his worldview. We can't say we weren't warned. Amid the graceful prose, we see underlying hostility toward the idea of revealed truth (apart from his own). We also see an understanding of the Constitution as a sort of referee between interests instead of a binding fetter on government power.

In the book, President Obama describes his view as

"one that sees our democracy not as a house to be built, but as a conversation to be had. ... What the framework of the Constitution can do is organize the way by which we argue about our future. All of its elaborate machinery - its separation of powers and checks and balances and federalist principles and Bill of Rights - are designed to force us into a conversation."

I guess that's what he meant when he appointed a couple dozen "czars" without Senate consent and made recess appointments when the Senate wasn't in recess. That started quite a bit of conversation.

Obama's consumer czar Elizabeth Warren claims minority status to get invited to luncheons?

Obama's Ayers, communist roots run deep
Who knew? The media should have - any other candidate in recent history would have been scrutinized from top to bottom and everywhere in between. Americans for Prosperity

It's bad enough that the U.S. spends $3 billion every year on subsidies to prop up American cotton farmers. Such payments enrich agri-businesses at taxpayer expense, hurt consumers while causing cotton prices to rise, and stand in the way of free trade and the free market.

But did you know that the U.S. also spends nearly $150 million of your taxpayer dollars each year to pay off Brazilian cotton farmers? It's all part of an absurd scheme detailed in our recent blog post: U.S. Pays Off Brazilian Cotton Farmers to Prop Up U.S. Cotton Industry (http://www.americansforprosperity.com/050312-us-pays-brazilian-cotton-farmers-prop-us-cotton-industry)

Special handouts to cotton farmers-both abroad and here at home-are just a few of several examples of wasteful subsidies that should be on the chopping block, and fortunately Congress will get a chance to take a swing at them summer.

Every five years Congress reauthorizes the various farm subsidies paid out by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in one giant bill-a grab bag of handouts to big agri-businesses and special interests. Given that the last "Farm Bill" was enacted in 2008, debate over the next one will be heating up on Capitol Hill in the coming months.

Eliminating ill-conceived farm subsidies not only takes the government's heavy hand out of our economy, but it can also save significant amounts of taxpayer money. One proposal by Senator Tom Coburn (http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?a=Files.Serve&File_id=7abc11fa-3a3d-4136-aae1-527576368ba3) (R-OK) would cut back on these special handouts and save $136 billion over the next decade, all while maintaining a safety net for farmers.

Whether it's in "green" energy or in agriculture, picking winners and losers has never proven to be a wise use of taxpayer dollars. Keep an eye on Congress as they debate the Farm Bill this year-voices like yours demanding an end to wasteful subsidies could make a huge difference.
