Environment Did Buffett Help Obama Kill Keystone Pipeline to Reap Financial Gain?
This is a special report done in conjunction with GBTV. The issue was explored in detail on The Glenn Beck Program Tuesday, April 17.
As the nation's gas prices skyrocket, critics argue that President Obama's recent rejection of the $7 billion, "shovel-ready" Keystone XL oil pipeline, followed by his continued vow to "double down" on green energy, is a clear sign the administration plans to do little of substance in terms of American oil exploration. The move has also stirred controversy about the president's real intentions concerning job creation and reducing pain at the pump for everyday Americans. But could there be a more sinister reason behind denying the pipeline's requisite permits - namely, to benefit billionaire Obama-supporter Warren Buffett?
The evidence does seem to be mounting.

OCCUPY were just trained to create confrontations at Tea Party events and rallies, nationwide!
In observing the OCCUPY activities over the past year or so, I surmised that their "first wave" was designed to serve as their learning curve, and that their puppet masters would then deploy them to mount "Wave Two", creating new and more vehement outrages, building on their experience.
That's now coming to pass.
Please relay this to other Tea Parties.
Lou Flanagan
The General Wayne Tea Party
From a reliable source:
1, Training for OCCUPY members & supporters was conducted around the U.S. this past weekend. We know of this because some Tea Party members infiltrated some training meetings and reported what they've learned.
2. The training was conducted in cities, towns and even smaller communities. Every trainer was equipped with a DVD, handouts and a training manual, and urged to recruit others.
3. The training included specific instructions to attend Tea Party activities - meetings, rallies and town halls
3. At such Tea Party events, they were instructed to instigate confrontations and disruption. My source added, '... remember that they are well trained, well funded, extremely well organized and directed. This is no longer the ragtag bunch of fools who are clueless about what they are there for - they are still ragtag but now they have marching orders and each group will have an even better trained leader(s)".
4. My source also said, "...the OCCUPY movement has gone from semi-organic to fully supported and organized - and as I wrote before (and provided the links to prove this) - they are backed by the Communist and Socialist parties, UAW, SEIU, ACORN, myriad other communist/socialist organizations, Moveon.org, and of course, one of the key money people is George Soros. This collection of 'sponsors' has no good intentions; moreover they are providing tents, food, water, sleeping bags, entertainment, drugs and more. And they have insider's in key roles of leaders to incite and whip these people into a frenzy".
5. How should Tea Party members handle any "situations"? My suggestions:
1. For your upcoming events, contact your local law enforcement chief well in advance and appraise him or her of your concerns.
2. Share this heads up with your news media - print and broadcast outlets - in advance. Do not wait until stuff happens.
3. Ask your members to have the phone number of the local law enforcement people on their speed dial
4. Ask members to bring a video camera with sound
3..At our weekly sidewalk rallies, I'll call the police first, but if things look bad, I'll instruct my members to leave as soon as something starts. There's no use in engaging in a dispute with them because they will escalate it.
4.If they crash a meeting, call the police. Police have a handy thing in their toolkit called, "Inciting to riot" which around here is good for thirty days in the slammer.
6. One purpose of their disruptions will be to create "news", in which your Tea Party appears in headlines about violence or disturbances. The other purpose is the disruption itself.
7. Be aware that the date May 1st,, May Day, is a traditional big day with lefties of all types, who know it as "International Workers Day". I've seen a separate report that OCCUPY is planning "something big" for that date, but I have no other confirmation about it.
Regards,
Lou

Voter's Guide - Urgent information
April 12, 2012
Dear Patriots,
As a businessman, father and grandfather I believe that we have reached a historic crossroad where we have been forced to either fight for a serious change in direction or suffer the loss of what we currently hold dear. Unfortunately, most persons have been convinced that they should do very little or nothing at all.
I was recently at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference where a very stark revelation was made clear. A question was asked of the 700 plus people in the auditorium: "How many persons here believe that you have had it better than your parents?" I believe that everyone raised their hand. The speaker then asked "How many of you believe that your children will have it as good as you?" Every hand went down.
Personally, I believe along with many others that we are in very serious trouble. We are a very short distance from the rioting in the streets as we see in countries like Greece. Our politicians are not seriously addressing the problems. They continue to bribe the American public with money that is not theirs.
This overspending is not only dishonest and unethical; it is immoral and must be stopped if we have any real hope for our children and grandchildren.
Please take the time to review the voter's guide at the link provided. You will see that there is only one candidate for US Senate who we can really count on to stand firm against the establishment pressure for "spending as usual." The other candidates may be a help, but we do not know for certain how they will eventually vote on important issues and we honestly think they will compromise on many fronts.
Churches have every right to make this information available in bulk to the congregation and the general public. They are not allowed to tell persons who to vote for, but they can tell everyone that there is a voting guide available for the Primary Election and challenge people to do their part.
Please get involved by distributing this Voter's Guide to as many persons as possible, especially at the polls on April 24. Do not let this opportunity escape us.
Sincerely Yours,
David M. Nyce President/Pilgrim Tours

Let's WIN this together !
Thank you Jeff and Brenda Ney for this fantastic explanation! For those of you who have asked how you can respond to people about the negative attack ads against Sam, this is information that my husband put together. I hope it helps you as you interact with people both before and on election day. 1. The pay raise vote was NOT unconstitutional. The vote was COMPLETELY within the law. This charge by Smith is a BALD FACE LIE!. The part that was unconstitutional was the action of the State House leadership AFTER the vote, when they tried to take the raise in the same year it was enacted. They also added in an increase in unvouchered expense reimbursement also to be taken in the same year. The State Constitution only allows an increase in benefits to take place after next election cycle, to allow voters the choice of removing those that would vote for an increase in benefits. With that being said, Sam was one of a handful of ethical legislators that fought to REPEAL the newly enacted law, and they were successful with, Ed Rendell signing the repeal on November 16, 2005. Bottom line SAM NEVER TOOK THE PAY RAISE OR ANY INCREASE IN PER DIEM EXPENSES! PERIOD! 2. The Pension issue. While Sam voted way back in 2001 to increase state pensions, he did so based on faulty, untruthful projection numbers given by Governor Ridge at the time. It as not MASSIVE. It totaled about 17%. He also apogized for his vote in many public forum owning up to his mistake. SEND THEM THIS LINK http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/regional/s_664066.html 3. 'Billed Taxpayers over $14,000 in 'personal expenses'. First of all, they are NOT personal expenses. The State House has a LAWFUL per diem reimbursement for expenses while conducting State business on State time. The lawmakers do not 'bill' the state for their expenses, they fill out an expense report like everyone does in business. Rohrer has been consistently in the bottom 5% for the use of these monies. A fact this hit piece fails to acknowledge. After numerous Google searches, I was unable to find the article referenced in the hit piece. Lastly, you can tell people that these false advertisements show the true character of a candidate. Tell them if Smith is lying to you now, how can you ever trust him to tell the truth once in office. You might also tell them he is spending over $250,000 a year on the political consultants that help him put together these hit pieces and that he is voted in 19 straight Democratic primaries for Democratic candidates before turning Republican. It's easy to attack the record of another when you have NO VOTING RECORD YOURSELF!!! I hope this helped you. Jeff Ney -- Brenda Ney Berks County Chair Rohrer for US Senate www.rohrerforsenate.org

George W. Bush to speak in Pennsylvania on GOP presidential primary day
Former President George W. Bush will deliver a speech in Pennsylvania on the day of the state's GOP presidential primary. Bush is the only prominent politician in his family that has not made an endorsement in the 2012 presidential race.
Bush will give the keynote address at the Plumstead Christian School's annual "Founders Forum" on the Calvary Church's campus in Souderton, according to the school's official website.
His father, former President George H. W. Bush is the most recent member of the Bush family to endorse former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for president.
Bush reportedly asked Romney if his son had endorsed him for president yet.
"I haven't met with President George W. Bush," Romney said. "We speak from time to time."
Barbara Bush, his wife, replied, "We'll talk about that."

Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution
Available to you, your family, your friends, and all Americans.
Weeks One & Two Now Available - Sign Up TODAY!
 | Dr. Larry P. Arnn |
Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"
In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.
That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."
Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.
I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!
And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.
Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:
"Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution"
This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!
I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!
"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.
It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.
Classes listed in Blue have been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking on the link for each class below.

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader. Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.
About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs. Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012. |

About John Stossel
John Stossel joined Fox Business Network (FBN) in 2009. He hosts "Stossel," a weekly program highlighting current consumer issues with a libertarian viewpoint, which debuted. His first shows covered health care, global warming, the novel Atlas Shrugged, "food police", and the Road to Serfdom.
Prior to joining FBN, Stossel co-anchored ABC's prime-time news magazine show, 20/20. There he contributed in-depth special reports and recurring segments on a variety of consumer topics, from pop culture to government and business.
John Stossel's new book, "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails-but Individuals Succeed,"argues: "There ought not to be a law." Stossel explains how politicians promise to solve problems by passing laws, but the laws invariably make our problems worse.
Why don't we learn? Because our brains don't intuit well about complex situations. After thousands of years of taking orders from tribal elders, after years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.
Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine.

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!
In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
- We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
- We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
- We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
- We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.
We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!
Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.
The time to speak out for Israel is now! Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

On Thursday, our staff finalized the most explosive resource that Grassfire has ever published. It's called 69 Obama Lies. It's a Fantastic Resource for this election year!
I believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough "vetting" of Obama's actual words in print. And I know it is going to outrage the Left because we actually hold Obama accountable for what he said!
Dear Patriot, About six weeks ago, our staff set out with the goal of putting the "truth detector" to what Obama has actually said. What we realized is Obama has lied so pervasively and thoroughly that even our staff had forgotten many of his most outrageous fibs! That's when we realized we had to create a written record of the Obama Lies. When we finished, we had created a 122-page, 20,000-word dossier that documents a disturbing cross-section of fibs, falsehoods, and fabrications that our President has used to win votes while implementing his radical agenda. Go here to see a larger image of the cover and the full list of 69 Obama Lies we have documented: http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013 + + The Lies that got Obama elected... 69 Obama Lies is organized in six sections that cover everything from the lies Obama has told about himself (we call these "ObamaLies"), to his campaign lies, his lies about government and taxes, ObamaCare and domestic and foreign policy. They are all here -- and footnoted so you will have complete documentation. We start with the ObamaLies -- his denial of Rev. Wright.... the "normalcy" of his church... the Bill Ayers lie... the ACORN lie... and Obama's "Brother's Keeper" lie which exposes his Marxist core. Let's be clear -- it was these "ObamaLies" along with his campaign lies that got Obama elected in the first place. Obama's ability to cloak his real beliefs and his real associations (with the willing help of the liberal media) kept his campaign moving forward. But we don't stop there.... + + Obama's "Big Government" Lies 69 Obama Lies also tracks the BIG LIE that Obama sold to the American people just after Inauguration Day -- that massive deficit spending would "create and save" jobs and restore the economy. It was all a LIE. We know that now. But it is vitally important to have the facts laid out in an orderly fashion. That's precisely what 69 Obama Lies does. We expose the full range of Obama's Big Government lies...
The "Create Or Save Jobs" Lie... The Stimulus Law is Working" Lie... The "I'll Cut The Deficit" Lie... The "Government Motors" Lie... The "Cash for Clunkers" Lie... The "Rich Pay Less In Taxes" Lie...
+ + Border Lies, ObamaCare Lies... Energy Lies... 69 Obama Lies literally covers every aspect of Obama's presidency -- from his lies about border security and immigration to his lies about gas prices and green jobs. We saved a whole section for Obama's signature legislative "achievement" -- ObamaCare. We've identified a Baker's Dozen of fibs Obama told just to get ObamaCare passed. And please note that each of the 69 Obama Lies is like a mini research report -- clearly laying out the specific Obama lie and fully documenting our sources. You get the actual words of Obama set against the truth -- the LIE next to the reality check. Go here to request your copies and see the complete list of 69 Lies: http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013 + + 69 Obama Lies Begins Shipping In Two Weeks! If you can help Grassfire with a contribution of ANY AMOUNT (even a few dollars to cover printing and shipping), we'll send you TWO COPIES of "69 Obama Lies" -- one to keep and one to share with a friend. We have asked the printer to rush the first printing of 69 Obama Lies so we can get this resource into our team members' hands as quickly as possible. As a result, we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23.
In order to be included in our first shipment, please let me hear from you as soon as possible. Go here to request your two copies:
http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013 I truly believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough and most important resource Grassfire has ever created. And I want to put it in the hands of every Grassfire team member. Please take a moment to order your two copies of 69 Obama Lies today, and thanks for the stand you are taking. Steve Elliott Grassfire Nation
P.S. As I write, the manuscript is going to the printer and we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23. The first print run of our last resource quickly sold out. Please go here to see the complete list of 69 Obama Lies and to order your copies:

Five Republicans battle in April primary to oppose Sen. Casey in fall
April 8, 2012 4:44 pm
1/7
WASHINGTON -- Everyone, it seems, wants Bob Casey's job.
Who wouldn't? The U.S. senator from Pennsylvania has one of Washington's most sought-after offices outside the White House.
His third-floor space in the Russell Senate Office Building was once occupied by the young Sen. John F. Kennedy. Four 8-by-10 shots on the wall show that Mr. Kennedy's desk was in the spot now reserved for office visitors who perch on a yellow couch to meet with Mr. Casey.
The office space, though, doesn't go with the job. Offices are assigned by seniority. Mr. Casey got the coveted spot when its prior occupant, Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., took over Joe Biden's office when the Delaware senator became vice president.
That's something Steve Welch, Tom Smith, Sam Rohrer, Marc Scaringi, David Christian and Joe Vodvarka ought to know.
The five Republicans and one Democrat -- Mr. Vodvarka -- are on the ballot to unseat the one-term U.S. senator from Scranton. John Kensinger wants a shot, too. The Bedford County pharmacist is running as a write-in candidate after failing to collect enough signatures to appear on the Republican primary ballot.
Recent polls show no clear frontrunner in the Republican contest, but indicate that Mr. Casey would beat any of them if the general election were held today.

Patriots,
My name is Mike Ludwig. I'm the Republican endorsed candidate for the 148th Legislative District. I was removed from the ballot after a lot of hard work and I'm not ready to give up the fight. A little about myself, I am 35 years old, married to my high school crush and we have three very adorable children. I've been serving in the US Army for 15 years and am pushing for 20 years. My wife, as well is in the Army National Guard. I have been deployed several times and was honored to serve my country. I worked for the Montco Sheriff Dept for 6 years before I made a job change to Lebanon County and then worked as a Police Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 6 years. I then went back to my "home" county where all my friends and family live and have been enjoying my time at the Montco Sheriff Dept since Sept 2010. I am looking to push for 300 Republican write in signatures. Although I have an army of family and in-laws that are willing to do the write in for me I'm looking for further support. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can offer. We are fighting certain factions of the GOP machine that are corrupt. Let's give the people a conservative choice in November.

Politics 'What Country Is This!': Irate Romney Hecklers Lose It After Being Denied Access
Someone needs to tell these Romney hecklers what country this is.
That's at least what they were requesting when they were shouting angrily outside a Romney event in Philadelphia on Monday. The hecklers were irate when they were denied access, despite some of them holding tickets.
"What country is this!" the hecklers screamed in unison.
National Review sets the stage:
Progressive activists stormed the Franklin Institute this evening. They clashed with tea-party organizer Don Adams, who blocked them from entering. It was a wild, tense scene, just minutes before Mitt Romney appeared here. Adams, who is the man at the door in this video of the incident, tells NRO that the "nasty" exchange is an example of what Romney will face this fall.
Here's what it looked and sounded like. By the way, it seems the hecklers were trying to complain about being targeted because of their race:

TIME TO DO SOMETHING, FRIENDS! The other candidates, Smith & Welch, have been Democrats for years, switching only, of late, to the GOP.
Is Tom Smith the best candidate to represent constitutional conservative Republicans in the Senate?
- Smith is not a PROVEN conservative. Talk is cheap; action, particularly under pressure, proves a man. Having never held elective office, except as a Democratic supervisor of his small town in the 70's, Tom has no record of standing for conservative policies under political pressure. How many conservative candidates who said (and often believed) the right things have gone to Washington and caved to pressure? Tom is not battle-tested in the arena of politics. How do we know he will stand? Can we afford to be uncertain about a candidate for Senate? With Sam Rohrer's proven voting record, we can know that where he stood in Harrisburg for 18 years, he willstand in Washington. A proven trusted veteran conservative is who we need to take the lead in D.C.
- Smith is not prepared for leadership in the Senate. Tom, as the CEO of his company, no doubt has good leadership skills. But is he prepared to be a legislator in the highest legislative office in the land? Does he have the experience and constitutional knowledge to be able to evaluate legislation on constitutional guidelines? Does he have the knowledge of the issues and ability to articulate them that a Senator must have? Tom's struggling performance during the debates he attended and failure to show at several other debates indicate his lack of experience with policy issues. The Senate is not the position to cut your teeth on; the critical issues of our times do not allow for months of adjustment and training to bring a newcomer up to speed. Why would we assume that experience is a valued asset in every other area of life than government? Only Sam has the experience to immediately begin contributing to the promotion of a conservative agenda in D.C.
- Smith has already proven himself to be unprincipled in some contexts. When When asked directly who he voted for in the Sestak-Specter primary, Tom said he couldn't remember. He also couldn't remember whether he voted for Obama in the Primary of 2008. Really? Furthermore, in a recent debate, Tom said - and repeated - how much he regretted being put in a position where he had to "compromise his values" in order to get permits. So what will he compromise to make gains in D.C.? Finally, his attack ads misrepresent the truth. To say of Sam Rohrer that he is "just another career politician" who voted for the "unconstitutional midnight pay raise" is highly misleading and slanderous to a man of Sam's proven character. Since the PA Constitution instructs the legislature to vote on pay raises, it can hardly be called unconstitutional. If Tom did his homework and had a regard for the truth, he would know that Sam vocally opposed and voted against the payroll voucher provision - the only unconstitutional part of that bill, never took a cent of that money, and spearheaded the repeal of the payraise. And Tom knows very well that Sam's public service has never been focused on advancing his career, presumably that is why Smith heavily supported Sam in the gubernatorial race. Sam's stand on principles has cost him the support of party leadership; that's hardly the way to advance your career. Why is Tom Smith not more careful with the truth? When challenged in a recent debate about the negativity of the ads, Tom said that he "had to get negative" because he "had to defend" himself. Is that honest? Everyone knows that the first attack ad came from Smith's campaign, not the other way around. Sam Rohrer's campaign is focused on communicating his vision, principles, and policy ideas to the voters, not on manipulating them through misinformation.
- Smith can not beat Casey. Smith's personal fortune will not make the difference in the race against Casey. Republican money will go to whoever wins the nomination. What will he have to challenge Casey's wider name recognition, deeper war chest, and greater knowledge of all things political? Smith has no record of conservative votes to show up Casey's liberal voting record, as Sam does. He can not convince voters that he wouldn't vote for tax raises and increased spending by pointing to his voting record. The Democrats have already targeted his voting record as a township supervisor to demonstrate that he did vote to raise taxes. Sam never did in 18 years. All Smith has to run on are words - and that is not Tom's strong suit. Casey will make mincemeat of Tom if they ever debate the issues; anyone who has heard Tom in a debate knows that to be true. And Tom has to convince the voters that he is knowledgeable about the issues, the problems, the solutions; he has to be able to intelligently answer questions in all kinds of public forums and media appearances. Further, Tom's history as a former lifelong Democrat unproven in elected office weakens his support among the grassroots volunteers and the loyal Republican voters. Democrats are not likely to be drawn to a defector from their ranks. By contrast, some have already indicated support for Sam who has a record of acting independently of his party leadership, of putting the people and principles before Party. Sam has already received the endorsement of the African Episcopalian bishops in Philly and the Pentecostal clergy of Philadelphia. Why? Because people across party lines are tired of politicians who are controlled by the party powerful and respond to Sam's message of truth and integrity in government proven by a consistent and principled record. Only Sam has a record that proves him to be a defender of the Constitution and a champion of the people over the Party.
SAM ROHRER IS THE ONLY PROVEN CONSERVATIVE IN THIS RACE WITH THE EXPERIENCE TO BEAT BOB CASEY IN THE FALL. for more info go to www.rohrerforsenate.org

Tea party "appalled" by Welch ad
Tuesday, 17 April 2012
Written by Tim McNulty
On their touchstone tax day, Pittsburgh-area tea party groups are pushing back on an ad from GOP US Senate candidate Steve Welch saying he has the support of "grassroots Republicans."
"I was astounded and appalled that someone who claims to be a legitimate candidate would make an incredible claim," Pittsburgh tea party leader Patti Weaver, of Fox Chapel, said in a statement emailed to reporters today. " The citizens of Pennsylvania deserve candidates who maintain a standard of truth in advertising standard. We call on Mr. Rob Gleason to denounce this ridiculous advertisement by Mr. Welch."
While the Republican establishment, including Gov. Tom Corbett, is behind Welch most tea party support has gone to former state Rep. Sam Rohrer.
A letter Weaver and other tea party organizers sent to state GOP chair Rob Gleason...:
Dear Chairman Gleason:
As tea party organizers, we can tell you that the grassroots movement does not support Steve Welch as indicated in your new advertisement. Steve Welch voted for Barack Obama and lacks the political gravitas needed for the job of U.S. Senator.
At a meet the candidate event on Sunday, April 1, Steve was asked why he voted for Barack Obama. Initially, Steve said he was a lifelong Republican and he voted for McCain. Yet, when pushed, Steve admitted that he switched parties and he voted for Obama in the primary. So, contrary to his initial response, Steve Welch is not a lifelong Republican and he did vote for Barack Obama.
The statement in your new advertisement that Steve Welch is supported by the grassroots is flat out not true, neither is your statement that the grassroots Republicans have overwhelmingly endorsed Steve Welch. Please review your numbers from the State Committee meeting and you will see that roughly 33% of those in attendance did not support endorsing anyone. Also, those who consider themselves Grassroots at the State Committee either voted to not endorse, abstained to choose a candidate to endorse or voted for someone other than Steve Welch.
We formally ask that you do not air this ad unless you can substantiate with market research that the Grassroots Republicans overwhelmingly endorse Steve Welch.
We will do everything in our power to see that as many Grassroots people as possible know that Steve Welch voted for Barack Obama.
Respectfully,

RedState Morning Briefing
For April 19, 2012
Folks, burning the candle at both ends has caught up with me and I'm in need of a bit of rest. The content will continue on RedState, but on Friday I don't expect to send out the Morning Briefing unless there is a big story or breaking news. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks, Erick
1. What is the Cost of EPA Interference?
I've written several posts here about the cost of EPA interference in our lives. Estimates of job losses at the hands of the supposedly well-intentioned Environmental Protection Agency are in the millions. As Lisa Jackson's EPA continues its unrelenting war against coal, an obvious thing is going to happen: the cost of powering your home and your daily life is going to go up. In fact, it's going to skyrocket. Don't take it from me, take it from the man himself.
2. The Meme War We Must Win In the past week the presidential campaign has been hit by two events that many have termed silly. First there was the Hilary Rosen comment denigrating Ann Romney's decision to stay at home and actually raise her children rather than elect to have a stranger do that. Second was the softer Seamus-on-the-roof story rolled out by the Obama campaign yesterday. Many, especially our own "smart set", have criticized the attention these events have attracted as somehow taking away from the high minded policy discussion that is supposedly taking place. Nothing could be farther from the truth. 3. The Left's expected, contemptible, and blatant hypocrisy over ALEC and stand-your-ground laws. I'm not really all that into blogging about the Zimmerman/Martin shooting. From what I can tell, what happened was that there was an confrontation that might have very well been avoidable; it ended with a genuinely tragic ending; and that there were actually pretty much no wider partisan implications at all, despite the attempts of the Online Left to fit a Latino Democrat onto the Procrustean bed of WASP Tea Partier. All of which is contemptible of the Online Left, by the way. Expected, but contemptible. Still, the news that the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has decided to stop working on criminal bill advocacy because of liberal push back on ALEC's work on stand-your-ground laws is of interest. Said laws, for those unaware of them, essentially confirm the right of a citizen to defend themselves if attacked; and (as Clayton Cramer and Glenn Reynolds note) such laws are very important from a feminist perspective. Particularly when we're talking about, say, battered women. Amazing how quickly people on the Left stop caring about that sort of thing when it gets into the way of going after perceived Righty groups, right? Again: expected, and contemptible. 4. Ron Johnson: The Lone Ranger Senator Kent Conrad has finally made it clear that he has no intentions of passing a budget resolution. He will offer the "Simpson-Bowles plan" without allowing any amendments or even a committee vote, much less a floor vote. That's some budget resolution. Without a budget resolution to guide the topline spending numbers, the Senate Appropriations Committee has already begun markups on the 12 appropriations bills at the subcommittee level. It goes without saying that Senate Republicans wouldn't reward this behavior by voting for their approps bills - spending bills that fail to eliminate a single wasteful program or agency within the burgeoning government bureaucracy. There is no way they would help grant Harry Reid superior leverage over their allies in the House like they did last year, right? Wrong.

Combat sexism:
When playing mixed pairs golf, show solidarity with feminist players by insisting that men and women tee off from the same spot. Explain that you are doing your bit to combat the outrageous, phallocentric calumny that women are too weak to hit small spherical objects as far as men.

The Obama Oil Embargo Apr 18, 2012 12:47 pm
From canceling oil leases in his second week in office to denying the XL Pipeline this year President Obama and his administration have offered up a non-stop assault on affordable energy. Now that high gasoline prices have come home to roost, the president is flailing around for an energy policy.
Why Tax Capital Gains? Apr 18, 2012 09:00 am
Today I'm taking a break from health care issues in honor of the 16th Amendment. Income tax day is an appropriate moment to go to the heart of President Obama's complaint about the taxes Warren Buffett and other rich people pay, or don't pay. What the president is really complaining about is that the tax rate on capital gains is too low.
Obamacare's $4 TRILLION Tax Increase Apr 18, 2012 01:36 am
There are many reasons Americans dislike Obamacare: its tremendous and rising costs, which CBO recently revealed to have risen by $51 billion since just last year; the Administration's unprecedented mandate that all employers, even religious schools and hospitals, pay for employees' abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraception; and tens of millions of employees soon to be wondering what happened to President Obama's promise that, "if you like your insurance, you can keep it."1

Americans are paying the hangman for the rope. It is estimated that since the origin of the global warming hoax in the late 1980s, Americans have seen $50 billion of their dollars thrown down the climate change rat hole.
Ring Of Fire Is Roaring To Life and Earthquakes Of Historic Importance: US West Coast Apr 17, 2012 05:06 pm
The Ring Of Fire Is Roaring To Life And There Will Be Earthquakes Of Historic Importance On The West Coast Of The United States Does it seem to you like there has been an unusual amount of seismic activity around the world lately? Well, it isn't just your imagination. The Ring of Fire is roaring to life and that is really bad news for the west coast of the United States. Approximately 90 percent of all earthquakes and approximately 75 percent of all volcanic eruptions occur along the Ring of Fire. (REFERENCE: Real Time Earthquake Map: USGS)
The Enemy's Pre-Emptive Strike in Afghanistan Apr 17, 2012 02:54 pm
Taliban-linked terrorists carried out a coordinated wave of dramatic attacks on high-profile targets across Afghanistan on Sunday ahead of a planned NATO-Afghan offensive. At the same time, Islamist terrorists broke into a jail in Pakistan, freeing nearly 400 prisoners, including 20 terrorists labeled as "very dangerous." The sophistication of the attacks worries NATO and Afghan officials.

Paving the Coptic Way to Jerusalem Apr 17, 2012 10:00 am
Late last week Egyptian Copts in Cairo booked private airline flights to Jerusalem to celebrate Easter holy week. Soon after, the joy they anticipated turned to anger when they faced rejection by a Coptic priest at the door of Jerusalem's Saint Helena Chapel on Coptic Palm Sunday. This unlikely denial is understood only by comprehending the unlikelihood of the trip, for it was the first of its kind (a direct flight from Cairo airport to Ben Gurion airport) since the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty of 1979 signed by Sadat. Unfortunately, for Egyptian Copts, the intervention of an edict issued by their Pope Shenouda III in the same year known as, "the law that forbids Copts to travel to Jerusalem," superseded the peace treaty.
Turkey's Strategy Apr 17, 2012 09:56 am
Turkey is re-emerging as a significant regional power. In some sense, it is in the process of returning to its position prior to World War I when it was the seat of the Ottoman Empire. But while the Ottoman parallel has superficial value in understanding the situation, it fails to take into account changes in how the global system and the region work. Therefore, to understand Turkish strategy, we need to understand the circumstances it finds itself in today.
The Strange Case of Jonathan Pollard Apr 17, 2012 09:14 am
Israeli President Shimon Peres wrote President Barack Obama a letter last week asking him to commute the prison sentence of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, now in his 27th year of incarceration. This followed the request by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who first read his letter from the podium of the Knesset, Israel's legislature, on January 4, 2011 prior to its delivery to The White House.

April 18, 2012 Help us STOP proposed changes to FBI counterterrorism training materials!!!
|
National conference early bird registration until April 20th!
|
|
|
URGENT action needed! Add your name to open letter to Congress TODAY!!! According to a recent CQ article (see below, highlights added), FBI leadership is moving forward with a plan that could purge from its counterterrorism training materials "references to Muslims...that it deemed offensive." As we all know, groups like CAIR want EVERY reference to radical Islam removed because they deem ANY terrorism reference to Islam "offensive." We have learned that this potential capitulation by the FBI leadership to politically-correct special interest pressure has some Members of Congress concerned-and they should be. So are we. And so should you. With annual congressional hearings addressing the FBI just around the corner, we need to take action NOW to make sure the appropriate congressional committees are aware that there is opposition to these proposed changes from the folks back home. As you know, it's almost impossible to get Congress to take action on something unless they feel some "heat" from their constituents. This is why it's critical we make our voices heard on this important issue NOW! And it's essential that we speak out loud and strong! The first step in addressing this issue is an open letter to the chairmen of the appropriate House and Senate committees. Some of these committees are scheduled to hold hearings on the FBI very soon. THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM TENS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS that making changes to counterterrorism training manuals without any congressional input, to appease political correctness, is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, because doing so WILL MAKE US LESS SAFE!!!!
Please add your name to this open letter and forward it to everyone you know. Please don't delay. We only have a few weeks to mobilize opposition to these foolish, ill-advised proposed changes before the U.S. Congress discusses issues related to the FBI. We need to be sure that when they do, our federal legislators have the benefit of knowing that many Americans are opposed to these changes.
|
The Obama administration has already purged all references to radical Islam and jihad from its national strategic threat assessments. We can't let this happen at the FBI as well. FBI agents in the field need to have training materials that accurately define the threat-for their safety and for ours. We CAN stop these changes from happening, IF WE ACT. So please, take action TODAY. It will only take a few moments of your time, but it will have a tremendous impact. Add your name to our open letter to congressional committee chairmen and forward this message to everyone you know!
Afternoon Take: FBI to Change Counterterrorism Training Policies By Chad Brand, CQ Staff The FBI is reportedly amending its training materials to eliminate references to Muslims and Arab-Americas that it deemed offensive, a change at least one high-ranking Democratic senator has championed. The bureau recently notified Congress that it removed the references it deemed offensive, along with language saying that agents had the ability to suspend the law and impinge on the freedoms of others in the course of investigations, the New York Times reported. The story noted that Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill., wrote to FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, earlier this week about the training material. Durbin's letter raised concerns that an internal review of its training materials by the bureau uncovered evidence of instructions for agents to make assumptions about Islam, Muslims and Arab Americans based on crude stereotypes, including language such as "Islam is a highly violent religion," and "mainstream American Muslims are likely to be terrorist sympathizers." Durbin asked the FBI make the training materials public and hold accountable the individuals responsible for the language deemed offensive. Rep. Trent Franks, one of a group of House Republicans that has questioned whether the Obama administration's review of its counterterrorism training policies put politics over security, said he was unhappy with what he called the FBI's lack of communication with Congress about its training manual reviews. The Arizona Republican said he wants details about who advised the FBI during the process. "The FBI must not permit outside parties to censor the true or critical material from FBI training curricula just because someone feels it to be politically incorrect," he told CQ. "We want to know who these outside reviewing parties are, what their affiliations are, and whether they are being permitted in some instances to overrule the judgment of seasoned FBI trainers." |

On April 2, Americans for Peace and Tolerance/On Campus (APT/OC) released a 16 minute video showing radical professors and guest lecturers at Northeastern University in Boston teaching students that Israel is a Western colonialist project and that the Jews "use" the Holocaust to distract from their needless oppression of the Palestinians, which is in fact comparable to the Holocaust itself. They are also taught that Jews do not qualify as "a people" and so therefore do not qualify to have their own state. These things were taught at Northeastern in programs designed to teach students about the genocide of Europe's Jews.

Obama Lawyers In A Panic..........
Obama Lawyers Want the Video of the NJ Obama Ballot Access Challenge Public Hearing Pulled and Suppressed
Obama Lawyers Want the Video of the NJ Obama Ballot Access Challenge Public Hearing Pulled and Suppressed
I heard this morning that the Obama lawyers are trying to suppress the videos of the NJ Obama Ballot Access Challenge public hearing. I just spoke with Attorney Mario Apuzzo and he confirmed that Obama's lawyers have called him and told him they are planning to take legal action to get the videos of the NJ Ballot Access Challenge Public Hearing pulled and suppressed. What is the Obama side ashamed of and doesn't want the world to see. Could it be that their Obama "emperor has no clothing on", i.e., has no known conclusively proven true legal identity clothing/papers to show the world which Attorney Mario Apuzzo forced them to admit to and stipulate to in the NJ public hearing? Obama's side obviously does not want people to see this video. Watch it yourself at the below links and learn why. The Obama side even wants to allow Mickey Mouse to run for President. To Obama and his lawyers the U.S. Constitution and presidential eligibility clause in Article II is a joke. You can see that in Part II at about 40 minutes into that segment. It was interesting that Obama's lawyer chose and mentioned Mickey Mouse running for President and making a mockery of the election process in her statements in the hearing as Mickey Mouse was a contributor to Obama's campaign in 2008 as part of the untraceable debit and credit card contributions that Obama accepted online, a good chunk of it alleged to have been illegally provided to Obama operatives from foreign sources.
Full Video of the NJ Obama Ballot Access Challenge Public Hearing. Obama's attorney did not wish the proceedings video taped. It has been learned from sources who recorded these videos with the court's permission under NJ law that Obama's lawyer did not want the hearing video taped and she tried before the start of the public hearing to get the cameras removed. However under NJ state law, video taping of public hearings is permitted. Now the Obama legal team wants to suppress these videos. Obama utilized 'Hillary I'm White' pastor to push race politics: Black liberation theology leader has long trail of racist rants. President Obama once utilized controversial Chicago pastor Michael Pfleger to push a race-centric agenda.
Pfleger famously claimed during the 2008 campaign that Hillary Clinton cried in public because she thought being white entitled her to the Democratic presidential nomination.
The pastor is a practitioner of Black Liberation Theology known for anti-White rants and is close to the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. He has been a guest lecturer at Obama's former church, Trinity United Church. He is a colleague of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr.

Green Gingrich? Newt contradicts self on "climate change": Calls global warming ad "mistake," but see what else politician peddled. Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has recently offered seemingly contradictory views on "climate change," claiming to oppose climate taxation while partnering with a group that promotes such legislation. The former House speaker earlier this week called his partnering with Nancy Pelosi on an environmental mission a "mistake." However, last year he not only defended the move but said he would have done it again.

Newt misleading on Fairness Doctrine? Claims to vocally oppose, but sponsored original bill Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was one of the sponsors of the Fairness in Broadcasting Act of 1987, which would have turned the controversial so-called Fairness Doctrine into law. Gingrich's official campaign website, however, states the politician opposes the doctrine. A section of Newt.org entitled "Answering the attacks," states: "Newt does not support the Fairness Doctrine and he has been vocally critical of the left?s efforts to reinstate the doctrine over the past decade, including supporting Mike Pence?s bill that prohibited government censorship in radio in 2007."

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 202 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Poll Position A slew of polls have been released this week with wildly varying results. For example, a CNN poll found Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney by nine points -- 52%-to-43%. That's depressing. But yesterday's Gallup tracking poll had Romney up five -- 48%-to-43%. Whew! I just want to remind folks not to get too upset or excited by the polls. More polls will be conducted in this election than ever before, and digesting all the numbers can be like trying to drink from a fire hose. But in addition to my usual caveats about polls -- they are only snapshots in time and taken from different populations, adults vs. registered voters vs. likely voters, etc. -- it's also important to look at the trend. And here's what I have noticed: Obama led Romney in seven polls conducted a few weeks ago as the GOP nomination battle was raging. Obama's average in those polls was 48.6%, compared to 42.6% for Romney, for a six-point Obama lead. In the seven polls conducted in recent days, Obama led in three, Romney led in three and they tied in one. Averaging the results finds that the race is now a dead heat: Obama 46.3% to Romney's 45.4%. Obama is down, Romney is up and that is a trend we can all like! Axelrod Endorses Romney Did you hear David Axelrod, Obama's top campaign advisor, endorse Mitt Romney this weekend on Fox News Sunday? If you missed it, here's what Axelrod said:
"The choice in this election is between an economy that produces a growing middle class and that gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead and an economy that continues down the road we are on..."
What? An economy that continues down the road we are on? And exactly who put us on this dead-end road again? That would be Barack Obama! Axelrod is right. We can continue down this current road of failure or we can change to a course of lower taxes and economic growth. Of course, Axelrod wasn't really endorsing Romney, and he had more to say after that. But it's clear that Obama can't run on his record. He's going to smear Mitt Romney and hope that voters will stick with the status quo. But I think Americans are growing tired of Obama's rhetoric. They want results. And they are ready to vote for change! S.O.S! -- Stop Obama's Spending Did you file your taxes on time yesterday? Barack Obama sure hopes so. CNSNews.com reports that since Obama took office, he has added more than $5 trillion to the national debt -- $5,027,761,476,484.56 as of April 16th to be exact. For comparison, the federal government's debt increased by $4.899 trillion during the Bush years. Yes, you read that right -- Obama has added more to the national debt in just over three years than George W. Bush added in eight! American can't afford another four years of Obama! Obama's "Green" Bets Are A Bust Barack Obama and his liberal allies dedicated $90 billion of your tax money to spending on so-called "green energy" jobs in their massive 2009 stimulus bill. What do we have to show for it? Reuters, not exactly a bastion of right-wing propaganda, published a lengthy report last week headlined: "Analysis: Obama's 'Green Jobs' Have Been Slow To Sprout." That's putting it mildly. As many conservatives warned, Obama's "investment" in green jobs has been a colossal failure. For example, a $500 million job-training program has helped fewer than 17,000 people gain employment. Believe it or not, the wind industry has actually lost 10,000 jobs since 2009. Meanwhile, the oil and gas industry has created 75,000 jobs! Think about that, friends. Tens of billions of your hard-earned tax dollars have been wasted on Obama's ideologically-driven crusade pursuing what doesn't work, while discouraging what does. Subsidizing failure and punishing success. This is the liberal worldview at work. And clearly it does not work! Yet in spite of Solyndra, the failed solar firm that Obama speculated in with your money, and other defunct efforts, he has repeatedly vowed to "double down" on this bad bet. Millions of Americans of goodwill took a risk and bet on Obama in 2008, hoping for the best. The results are in, and it's time to cut our losses. We need new leaders who understand the free market and put their faith in the American people, rather than Big Government. The Left's Growing Intolerance Yesterday the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the most liberal appellate court in the country, upheld Arizona's 2004 voter ID law. That is a huge victory for common sense and a big warning to the Obama Justice Department to back off attempts to block similar laws in Texas and South Carolina. Proponents of voter ID laws, such as the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), can take solace in knowing that they are on the right side of the law and that the American people overwhelmingly side with them. Unfortunately, it may be little comfort to the good folks at ALEC. The group has been under siege lately from a Soros-funded attack led by 9/11 "truther" Van Jones. Jones has successfully bullied a number of ALEC's major corporate sponsors into dropping their support for the conservative public policy group by portraying it as racist. How so? Because ALEC led efforts to pass voter ID and "stand your ground" laws. Increasingly this is how the left wins. It doesn't even bother to debate the merits of its positions. It wins by making conservative values unspeakable, by demonizing its opponents. If you think showing ID to cast a ballot is a good idea, you can't be concerned about voter fraud. You're a racist. If you think school choice is a good idea, you can't be concerned about minority education. You hate school teachers. If you think abortion on demand is wrong, you can't be concerned about the sanctity of life. You hate women. If you think marriage is the union of one man and one woman, you can't be concerned about religious liberty or the best environment for raising children. You are a bigot. Radical Islam's War On Women While Obama and his campaign surrogates obsess about a "Republican war on women," they turn a blind eye to radical Islam's very real war on women. This week, 150 Afghan school girls were poisoned in an attack likely carried out by the Taliban. Most of the girls, thankfully, suffered only headaches and vomiting. But some of them are in critical condition. When the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, it banned the education of women as "un-Islamic." Schools for girls were reopened after the U.S. deposed the Taliban regime due to its support for Osama bin Laden and the 9/11 attacks. But Taliban sympathizers frequently attacked girls going to the schools, often throwing acid in their faces. This is the same Taliban that the Obama Administration has been negotiating with as it seeks to speed up the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan. Speaking of radical Islam, leaders of the Jewish community in Hebron have sent an open letter to the U.N. Secretary General, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others hoping to prevent the execution of Muhammad Abu Shahala, a Palestinian. Was Shahala falsely accused by the Israeli government of being a terrorist? No. He has been sentenced to death by his own people for the "heinous crime" of selling a home to Jews. Pray For Chuck Colson Earlier today, Prison Fellowship Ministries provided an update on the condition of my good friend Chuck Colson, who recently suffered brain hemorrhage. Here is an excerpt of the message from Jim Liske, CEO of Prison Fellowship Ministries:
"It is with a heavy, but hopeful heart that I share with you that it appears our friend, brother, and founder will soon be home with the Lord. Chuck's condition took a decided turn yesterday, and the doctors advised Patty and the family to gather by his bedside. ...I know that his greatest desire beyond seeing Jesus is that the work he and all of us have been called to will continue. As Chuck would say, 'Remain at your posts and do your duty -- for the glory of God and His kingdom.'"
Please join Carol and me in praying for Chuck, his wife, Patty, and his family.

Negroes with guns

Liberals have leapt on the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida to push for the repeal of "stand your ground" laws and to demand tighter gun control. (MSNBC'S Karen Finney blamed "the same people who stymied gun regulation at every point.")
This would be like demanding more funding for the General Services Administration after seeing how its employees blew taxpayer money on a party weekend in Las Vegas.

We don't know the facts yet, but let's assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black.

Many people have noted that Obama's rhetoric often feels off, but fewer have looked into why that is so. A great part of Obama's success has been his ability to invoke values detached from belief systems. To break away symbols and ideals from religious and national value systems, and mix and match them into his own soundbites. Like the famous Hope poster, that mixed patriotic color schemes with socialist realism, or Obama's own logo, which mixed corporate branding with national politics-- Obama's "brand" was built out of a barely coherent mishmash of clashing elements. The only thing they all have in common is that they are bricks in the wall of Obama's image. They all combine together to promote him. None of this could have succeeded if context mattered, but Obama's people were piggybacking on a culture where context had ceased to matter. Where growing numbers of people could not be bothered to understand and would not care about the different elements being combined together, only whether the final product appealed to them or not. Obama's image had more in common with the way hip hop artists sample songs, than with a symphony. His campaign was the perfect trailer to a movie that would never be released. It was the marriage of corporate advertising campaigns, pop culture, radical politics and Americana-- thrown together in a pot and boiled into one indecipherable mix that was appealing, and yet completely void of meaning. Obama's speeches were robotic, not just because they were delivered via teleprompter, but because they had been assembled together artificially out of bits and pieces of old presidential speeches into generic templates that were meant to awe audiences through their presentation. And if afterward no one could quite remember what he said, or what he promised or why they were even impressed-- in an ADD culture that only added to his charm. And so Obama kept on saying very little of substance, yet entertaining his audiences. His speeches called up spirituality devoid of religion, Americana devoid of patriotism and ideals devoid of ideas. He appropriated them all and used them as props in his show. His obvious inspiration for this was not Jeremiah Wright, who did however provide plenty of textual inspiration, but Oprah herself. Oprah's success lay in marketing that same diffuse spirituality, not grounded in any actual belief system. Instead what she offered was an endless self-centered buffet, spirituality as self-empowerment, with herself and her chosen gurus as the center of a new commercial belief system.

Tired of paying for illegal aliens? Demand passage of H.R. 2885: Legal Workforce Act

Get behind the effort to pass Republican Representative Lamar Smith's Legal Workforce Act (LWA) HR 2885. This bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act and order the Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop a system for determining the citizenship and work eligibility status of all alien workers. As envisioned by Representative Smith this system would have DHS establish an employment eligibility verification system (EEVS), patterned after the E-Verify system.
Introduced on September 12, 2011 the LWA would require employers to be part of the process of constructing an EEVS for their workers by attesting, under penalty of perjury, that the individual in question is not an illegal alien. To meet this responsibility, employers must obtain and record ... Continue Reading:Tired of paying for illegal aliens? Demand passage of H.R. 2885: Legal Workforce Act

Is GOP fear of race riots stopping any real investigation into Obama's past

Congress is refusing to act on citizen demands for an investigation of Barack Obama's Natural Born Citizenship status because of fears of race riots by Blacks across America. This appears to be the consensus arrived at by many of our country's on line bloggers. "Obama's failure to come up with a real, long form Birth Certificate in a timely manner and his expenditure of a vast amount of money in legal fees in my opinion is a 100% indication something is rotten in Denmark. "The apportionment of taxes on the various descriptions of property is an act which seems to require the most exact impartiality; yet there is, perhaps, no legislative act in which greater opportunity and temptation are given to a predominant party to trample on the rules of justice. Every shilling which they overburden the inferior number is a shilling saved to their own pockets." --James Madison

It's tax time -- but just wait until next year
"The Tax Foundation reports that because of higher federal income and corporate tax collections, Tax Freedom Day came four days later this year than last. And the bad news is that unless Washington takes action, it will take working Americans 11 more days to meet next year's tax burden. That's all due to Taxmageddon -- a slew of expiring tax cuts and new tax increases that will hit Americans on January 1, 2013, amounting to a $494 billion tax hike. Heritage's Curtis Dubay reports that American households can expect to face an average tax increase of $3,800 and that 70 percent of Taxmageddon's impact will fall directly on low-income and middle-income families, leaving them with $346 billion less to spend. ... Instead of dealing with Taxmageddon, President Obama wants to change the subject with a gimmicky policy like the 'Buffett Tax.' ... Stopping a $494 billion tax increase shouldn't be a contentious partisan issue." --Heritage Foundation's Mike Brownfield
"When he's not talking up his buddy Warren [Buffet], [Obama] has been staggering around demonizing Paul Ryan's plan, which would lead, he says, to the end of the weather service, air traffic control, national parks, law enforcement, and drinkable water. Given what's at stake, you might think then that the president would have an alternative plan. But he has none, save for his proposal to pay off the 2011 federal deficit by the year 2526. The Obama No-Plan plan means the end of everything. That really ought to be the only slogan the Republicans need this fall: What's your plan?" --columnist Mark Steyn
"There is nothing the president is saying now that he has not said many times over. ... The Obama campaign brain trust may have concluded that the only path to victory is by pandering to a collection of ethnic groups and interests. Hence, the class warfare theme to activate the left-wing base, the offhand comments about the Trayvon Martin case to show blacks he is with them, the lawsuits against Arizona to please Hispanic voters, and the delay in the Keystone pipeline to keep the environmental lobby and contributors happy." --columnist Richard A. Baehr
"[T]he simple fact is that Obama is the stay-the-course candidate stuck with a team, a record and an economy ill-suited for a stay-the-course strategy. That's what gives poignancy to Obama's recently renewed love affair with Ronald Reagan, whom Obama invokes these days as a model of reasonableness and bipartisanship. ... Even before he got the nomination in 2008, Obama said he wanted to be a 'transformative' president like Reagan had been. ... There were two key elements to Obama's man-crush. The first was the simple hope that history -- or at least the business cycle -- would repeat itself. ... The other reason the White House admired the Reagan White House? According to Time: 'Both relied heavily on the power of oratory.' Then-Press Secretary Robert Gibbs added, 'Our hope is the story ends the same way.' And there's the problem for Obama. He's sticking to his rhetorical guns on the assumption that he's the great orator his fans have always claimed." --columnist Jonah Goldberg

"The Republican House of Representatives may soon follow the Democratic Senate and give the IRS the power to confiscate your passport on mere suspicion of owing taxes. ... Contained within the suspiciously titled 'Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act,' or 'MAP 21,' is a provision that gives the Internal Revenue Service the power to keep U.S. citizens from leaving the country if it finds that they owe $50,000 or more in unpaid taxes -- no court ruling necessary. It is hard to imagine any law more reminiscent of the Soviet Union that America toppled, or its Eastern Bloc slave satellites. ... As Reuters reported Monday, overtaxation has led to close to 1,800 Americans living abroad renouncing their U.S. citizenship last year or turning in their green cards -- many of them with broken hearts because of their love for this nation. The record number of former U.S. citizens is nearly eight times more than those who renounced U.S. citizenship in 2008, and it exceeded 2007, 2008 and 2009 combined. They did it because of the nightmare the U.S. government puts them -- and non-American spouses -- through, sniffing over any and all of their finances. ... If House Republicans pass this assault on our Constitution, their credibility will be in tatters. And if it is passed and then signed into law, look for constitutional challenges in federal courts throughout the land. They should begin the next day." --Investor's Business Daily

Disingenuous: "Some years ago, one of my predecessors traveled across the country pushing for the same concept. He gave a speech where he talked about a letter he had received from a wealthy executive who paid lower tax rates than his secretary, and wanted to come to Washington and tell Congress why that was wrong. So this president gave another speech where he said it was 'crazy' ... that certain tax loopholes make it possible for multimillionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying 10 percent of his salary. That wild-eyed, socialist, tax-hiking class warrior was Ronald Reagan." --Barack Obama
In spite of his best efforts: "There are politicians who say that if we just drilled more, then gas prices would just come down right away. What they don't say is that we have been drilling more. Under my administration America is producing more oil than at any time in the last eight years." --Barack Obama, trying to take credit for drilling on private land
Yay government: "I believe in investing in basic research and science because I understand that all these extraordinary companies that are these enormous wealth-generators -- many of them would have never been there. Google [and] Facebook would not exist had it not been for investments that we made as a country in basic science and research. I understand that makes us all better off." --Barack Obama

This has nothing to do with gun-owners' rights. This has nothing to do with the Second Amendment. Plain and simple, this is just trying to give people a license to murder." --New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Unfortunate choice of words: "Talking is good. Conversations have to be forever. You know, they can't come in spits and starts when there's an incident [such as that between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin]. I think we all need, as a country, to continue to talk about these issues, to understand our communities and the challenges that we face, which are different and unique depending upon where you live. ... "[Trayvon Martin] had no weapon and he had every legal right to be where he was. The rush to judgment was those that moved against him, said he was suspicious, and took his life. So to lecture us about rushing to judgment, we're a victim of a rush to judgment in this case. Let's be real clear on that." --MSNBC's Al Sharpton
From dumb to dumber: "Let's move on to the Trayvon Martin story. Bill Cosby weighed in with some comments in an interview over the weekend. It was interesting to hear Mr. Cosby talk. One of the things he said is perhaps we need to start this discussion on guns as opposed to race. Republicans Sue Obama Over Recess Appointments By Breitbart News
Today, Senate Republicans hired Miguel Estrada, the 2002 judicial nominee for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals filibustered by Senate Democrats, to press a lawsuit against the Obama administration. The lawsuit itself is based on President Obama's non-recess "recess appointment" of political allies to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which oversees management-union relations; it was originally filed by Noel Canning, a soft-drink business owner who sued the NLRB over its ruling that the company had to work with a labor union.

Politico: Obama Campaign Tries To Diversify
-Ace
Why?
Oh, right, because they're almost as white as the Allman Brothers' financial planners.
An Obama campaign photograph of the Chicago headquarters last week had black Democrats buzzing about diversity - or lack of it. The picture, saturated with white faces, was reposted on the news site Buzzfeed and made the rounds of other well-trafficked sites, including The Drudge Report.
Yeah. That picture was whiter than a Mormon unicorn's teeth on Milk Appreciation Day.
A source told Politico:
"I hope the president's team was listening when he said that if he had a son, he'd look like Trayvon Martin and that they make it a reality, not a priority, to have more senior staff [not just one or two people] around the president who look like Trayvon Martin. Right now, it is nonexistent, and you rarely see more than one African-American, male or female, anywhere around or advising the president unless he is at an African-American gathering of some kind."

Obama's New Gas Price Scapegoat
High gas prices are not a president's friend, especially in an election year, so it's not surprising that President Barack Obama is trying his darndest to shift the blame for record-high fuel prices onto something other than his failed energy policies. Yesterday he made a desperate attempt to distract from those failures and redirect America's gas price rage with a flawed proposal to punish speculators for supposedly driving up the cost of energy.
Speaking from the Rose Garden, the president announced a proposal to spend $52 million to fund increased government oversight of oil futures market trading in addition to harsher civil and criminal penalties for manipulation in energy markets. "We can't afford a situation where some speculators can reap millions, while millions of American families get the short end of the stick," Obama said. "That's not the way the market should work."

Trade and Prosperity in the 50 States: The Case of North Carolina
By Bryan Riley
Abstract: North Carolina has a long record of support for open markets, and recent trade agreements have benefited its citizens. Foreign trade-exports and imports-is responsible for more jobs in the state than the textile, apparel, and furniture industries combined. Despite these facts, North Carolina's congressional delegation seems to be rejecting its free-trade heritage. (In 2011, all but one member of the state's congressional delegation voted against the U.S.-South Korea Free Trade Agreement.) Primarily, this is due to the influence of the state's large textile and apparel industry seeking protection from lower-cost imports. Every Member of Congress who is facing a vote on trade-related legislation should consider the impact of that legislation on every worker and family in his state, not just on a limited sector. Everyone benefits from less-expensive goods and more jobs. North Carolina can best represent the interests of its citizens by rejecting protectionist policies and returning to its free-trade roots.
Economist Walter Williams once described the primary challenge facing free-traders: It is unreasonable to expect even principled politicians to vote for good economic policies if those votes amount to political suicide.[1] Opponents of increased trade have often successfully convinced politicians that votes for free trade are career killers. But even in states where opposition to free trade has been the strongest, the benefits of trade more than compensate for the costs. One such case is North Carolina.

APRIL 18, 2012 Arizona v. United States: Showdown in the Supreme Court For the second year in a row, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear an immigration case out of the State of Arizona. And for the second time is as many years, the Obama administration has sued the State of Arizona in the hopes of stopping its state law aimed at curbing the problem of illegal immigration. The Heritage Foundation will host a distinguished panel next Monday, April 23rd, to preview the arguments next week before the Supreme Court. Click here to RSVP or watch online >> Recall that on May 26, 2011, the Court issued its 5-3 decision in Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting that upheld the Legal Arizona Workers Act of 2007, allowing the state to require employers to use the E-Verify system and revoke the business licenses of employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. After that decision, we wrote that the impact of that common sense ruling was to give states "a license to enforce immigration laws." The legal issue before the nations' highest court next week is whether federal immigration law prevents Arizona from engaging in cooperative law enforcement and impliedly preempts four provisions of Arizona's new state law S.B. 1070. That law allows an Arizona law enforcement officer who stops someone based on reasonable suspicion that they committed a crime-if the officer develops independent reasonable suspicion that the person is an illegal alien-to question the person about his nationality. That common sense procedure is necessary to fight the disruptive influx of illegal aliens in the state, and does not violate federal immigration law according to the State of Arizona. Arizona claims that that provision of the law has been narrowly tailored to prevent racial profiling. Opponents of S.B. 1070, including illegal aliens' rights groups and the Obama Justice Department, claim that the law is preempted by federal immigration law and thus is unconstitutional. There are similarities between the case last year and the one presently before the High Court. First, Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan recused herself in the Whiting case. As President Barack Obama's former Solicitor General, in charge of all matters before the Court, she decided not to take part in the case, hence the eight votes (5-3) instead of the typical nine voting members in a typical decision. She has recused herself in next week's S.B. 1070 case as well. Second, the Obama administration has joined forces once again with advocates for illegal aliens, including the ACLU, MALDEF, National Council of La Raza, and the American Bar Association (among others) in the case against Arizona. They lost last year, and may lose again, based in part on the reasoning set forth in the Whiting case. Former Solicitor General Paul Clement, who recently argued before the Supreme Court on behalf of 26 states in the Obamacare case, will represent the State of Arizona. In the first sentence of his brief to the Court, Mr. Clement explains the negative impact of the federal governments' uneven enforcement of immigration laws on Arizona saying, "Arizona shoulders a disproportionate burden of the national problem of illegal immigration." Those problems include increased crime by illegal aliens and staggering financial costs in areas of crime control, medical expenses, and education. Arizona has spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer money to cover the cost of illegal immigration in its state. As Arizona's brief before the Court states, "The public-safety and economic strains that this places on Arizona and its residents have created an emergency situation, which demanded a response." That response was their state law S.B. 1070.
How the Court will ultimately rule is anyone's guess. But the Obama administration has an uphill battle.

Another Obama Lie Debunked by . . . The New York Times!
Posted: 18 Apr 2012 12:34 PM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
Michelle Obama, the nation's pre-eminent childhood nutritionist, has been arguing that much of the childhood obesity problem is due to the fact that too many urban children live in "food deserts," lacking access to fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. But, as the New York Times' Gina Kolata reports today, it isn't true:
But two new studies have found something unexpected. Such neighborhoods not only have more fast food restaurants and convenience stores than more affluent ones, but more grocery stores, supermarkets and full-service restaurants, too. And there is no relationship between the type of food being sold in a neighborhood and obesity among its children and adolescents. . .
The Hinderaker-Ward Experience, Episode 24: This Poll Is a Joke Posted: 18 Apr 2012 08:45 AM PDT (John Hinderaker) Brian Ward and I recorded Episode 24 of the Hinderaker-Ward experience last night. We talked about some of the hottest issues in the news, including the Senate Democrats' dereliction of duty in refusing to adopt a budget; the GSA bacchanalia scandal; the 2012 presidential race, including our assessment of Mitt Romney's performance so far as reflected in the poll data, about which Brian and I disagreed rather sharply; and much more, including my recent vacation and our efforts to get our taxes filed on time.
We interviewed Wall Street Journal contributor and author Mark Yost about his new thriller Soft Target. Soft Target features a terrorist attack on Chicago. This is Amazon's description of the book: Nick Mattera is a former Marine Corps bomb squad technician who survived four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's come home to his Italian-American neighborhood on Chicago's North Side and becomes one of the fire department's young hotshots. But Nick never expected to run into Abdullah and Jhalil.
Dartmouth's problem now the world's . . . Posted: 18 Apr 2012 06:27 AM PDT (Scott Johnson)
or at least the World Bank's, with the formal appointment of Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim as the bank's new president. President Kim stuck around Dartmouth barely long enough to get his ticket punched (not quite three years). He is the shortest-serving Dartmouth president since the reluctant Rev. Daniel Dana (1820-21) who, unlike Kim, made his distaste for the position clear prior to his appointment. Except for Kim's apparent lack of relevant background for the World Bank position - no one had guessed that Kim was in the running for the nomination - Kim is perfect for the job. He is certainly a perfect reflection of President Obama, who nominated him for it. At Dartmouth President Kim cultivated a cult of personality that resulted in his chosen speaker at the 2010 commencement ceremony paying tribute to none other than President Kim himself. I do not think there will be many tears shed over the departure of Dartmouth's dear leader. He was liberally loathed by the faculty, and not for petty reasons. Did Climate Change Cause the Salem Witch Trials? Posted: 18 Apr 2012 05:50 AM PDT (Steven Hayward)
As we know courtesy of The Warmlist, climate change is implicated as the cause or contributing factor to everything from Afghan poppie crop failure to zoonotic diseases, but did you know it can also be implicated in outbreaks of witchcraft in the Middle Ages? That's the argument of two recent academic papers, which attempt to connect the nearly 1 million women put to death for witchcraft in the Middle Ages to the Little Ice Age that, ironically, the climateers have tried to deny or minimize for quite a while now. Now, of course, the argument is being reversed-if we don't pay heed to the climateers warnings, witchcraft might return? (Seems to me too many of the climateers take seriously the proceedings of the UN General Assembly. Or have studied voodoo economics in Haiti.) The first paper, by Emily Oster, a Ph.D student in economics at Harvard, is a straightforward economic analysis, noting that the economy of Europe deteriorated significantly during the Little Ice Age, and that witches were blamed and then punished for it. (Today, of course, witches would be appointed economic advisers in the Obama Administration.) From Oster: A famous victory for Obama DoJ Posted: 18 Apr 2012 04:17 AM PDT (Scott Johnson) Ishmael Jones is the pseudonymous former Central Intelligence Agency case officer who focused on human sources with access to intelligence on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. His assignments included more than 15 years of continuous overseas service under deep cover.
Mr. Jones is also the author of The Human Factor: Inside the CIA's Dysfunctional Intelligence Culture, published by Encounter Books. When it was issued in paperback he contributed the post "CIA spies and Dartmouth deans," exploring a theme of his book. In 2010 the CIA sued Mr. Jones over the publication of his book. He wrote about the lawsuit for us here. He now writes to comment on the resolution of the lawsuit: In 2008 I wrote The Human Factor, criticizing the CIA's waste of tax dollars and its growth as a domestic spy agency. I recommended increasing the number of officers posted overseas from a tiny fraction of heroes - over 90 percent of CIA officers spend their careers entirely within the United States - and instituting better financial accountability.

Our TV Ad Rips Rep. Dave Camp On E-Verify Stalling; He Concedes A Bit
Something remarkable happenedlast Friday. Dave Camp changed his tune . . . at least a little.
For months, the Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee (and his staff) refused to say a word about why they weren't actingon their part ofthe 50-state E-Verify bill that the Judiciary Committee passed last September.
Then, over the last month, our ad campaign and your phoning and faxingcaused the staff to react-by telling falsehoods that Rep. Camp (R-Mich.) had no power to act at all because the bill was out of his hands. We told you about this in alerts and our webcast last Thursday.
By last Friday, the stories suddenly changed out of Camp's Michigan and D.C. offices. No more claiming that the bill had nothing to dowith them. Now, they are telling NumbersUSA callers that they are working onthe mandatory E-Verify bill.Without saying so directly, they are admitting thatthe ball really is in their court, just as we-and you-have been saying all along.
This is a victory for your grassroots activism. But it is just another step. We still have no specificevidence that Chairman Camp really intends tomove this bill to the House floor for a vote.
That's why we have been hammering Camp with TV advertising in his own District for the an entire month.
Let me explain a little more how Rep. Camp's story began to change. The report below is the kind of thing Camp's office was telling the public before last Friday: " I just called Rep. Camp's office in response to the ad that NumbersUSA put out. They told me that the bill is actually with the Judiciary Committee, that it originally passed but was then sent back to it. Given what I have heard from NumbersUSA, I thought this was nonsense and told them that I had heard that that is untrue. I repeated my request for him to pass it out of committee if it is indeed with the committee, as I have heard it is. " -James of Idaho James was given false information. The House Judiciary Committee did pass H.R. 2885 last summer. The bill wasnot "sent back" to the committee. Our Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks has learned that the House of Representatives parliamentarian has said that since the bill was referred to three separate committees, each with jurisdiction over different pieces of the bill, any one of the three committees can consider the legislation at any time. In other words, the Ways and Means is absolutely able to act now. We exposed this and much more false and misleading information on last Thursday's weekly webcast. (See www.NumbersUSA.tv for a replay.) Also, members like you have been sending hundreds of thousands of of faxes to Rep. Camp's office. . . and jamming up his phone lines with non-stop calls. All this together has finally begun to pay off. Last Friday, Camp's staff began admitting to callers that he can act on the E-Verify bill. For example, our member Robert was told this when he called: " I spoke to a man at the Ways & Means Committee who told me that NumbersUSA is mistaken about Chairman Camp holding up the E-Verify legislation. He said there are three committees working on this and this is part of the normal process. " -Robert Well, that's better. But any changes are due directly to the pressure that NumbersUSA members, and other citizens watching our TV ads, are putting on Camp. We've got to keep it up, and we're going to. We've got to keep those ads on the air, and we've got to keep those faxes coming in to Camp's office. You do have the drift of the E-Verify bill, don't you? H.R. 2885 will remove millions of illegal aliens from jobs they don't deserve, and free those jobs up for unemployed Americans. That's why passing mandatory E-Verify is our #1 priority. Whenever this bill finally reaches the floor, it will pass overwhelmingly. How is Rep. Camp able to hold the bill up? It's because his Ways & Means Committee oversees the Social Security Administration, so Ways & Means has "jurisdiction" over two important provisions of the bill that identify, and order fired, illegal aliens using stolen and fraudulent Social Security numbers. What are Dave Camp's motives? Our frank view is that Chairman Camp wants to protect the illegal aliens who are paying into the Social Security system, even if that keeps Americans from getting those jobs! He just wants the tax money. We can't allow millions of jobless Americans to be held hostage to Dave Camp. We've got to keep up the pressure by airing our TV ad even more heavily. (Haven't seen the ad yet? See the TV ad here! Then come back and donate to keep it on the air!)

But while the media has been focused on what happened on the stage at the convention, Glenn was interested in what he saw happen behind-the-scenes. While at the NRA Convention, Glenn heard the story of how Ted Nugent was denied the chance to attend the funeral of a fallen Navy SEAL, even though the SEAL himself had put the request in his will. How could a hero's wish be denied? PLUS: Glenn gives his own reaction to the Nuge controversy HERE.
