Limbaugh's Premiere Network pulled the show from PHT to move it to the new WKDN programming format.

Limbaugh will be on 106.9 with ~ 30kW which on VHF low-band FM is a very good power grant over Philadelphia piedmont terrain.  PHT with its alleged 50kW had only marginal signal here in NE Chester Co, for example, the result of their antenna pattern that excluded the west for some reason.  106.9 will not suffer that problem, so total EIB audience will probably increase - not to mention no more program delay or preemption for Philadelphia baseball programming.

Obama Administration Leaks ANOTHER Israeli Defense Secret

The leaks continue from the Obama administration with regard to Israeli defense secrets. On Sunday, the New Yorker printed a report stating that US had worked with the Iranian opposition group Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK). The US was apparently receiving intelligence from the group, including intercepted cell phone calls and text messages. But sources also confirmed that Mossad was helping to funnel resources and train members of the MEK. As Seymour Hersh writes:

[E]arly last month NBC News quoted two senior Obama Administration officials as confirming that the attacks were carried out by M.E.K. units that were financed and trained by Mossad, the Israeli secret service. NBC further quoted the Administration officials as denying any American involvement in the M.E.K. activities. The former senior intelligence official I spoke with seconded the NBC report that the Israelis were working with the M.E.K., adding that the operations benefitted from American intelligence. He said that the targets were not "Einsteins"; "The goal is to affect Iranian psychology and morale," he said, and to "demoralize the whole system-nuclear delivery vehicles, nuclear enrichment facilities, power plants." Attacks have also been carried out on pipelines. He added that the operations are "primarily being done by M.E.K. through liaison with the Israelis, but the United States is now providing the intelligence."

So what would be the purpose of the leak this time? The same as the last time: it's supposed to tip off the Iranians to efforts against them, and it's supposed to dissuade the Israelis from doing anything to stop the Iranian nuclear program. And those efforts are largely Israeli - Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has already denied any US involvement in the assassinations of the Iranian nuclear scientists.

This leak is just the latest in a pattern of leaks from the Obama administration, which has already leaked information about a covert Israeli deal with Azerbaijan to use airbases in that country as a staging point for an attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities. In 2010, the Obama administration leaked information of a covert deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia to use Saudi airspace for such an attack.

The Obama administration is desperate to prevent any sort of aggressive Israeli action on Iran before the election. That's because Obama knows it would put him between a rock and a hard place - his leftist base hates Israel, and yet the American people love Israel overall. Meanwhile, Obama recognizes that he's going to have to go to OPEC and ask them to ratchet up production prior to election, and he will want to make promises about battering Israel in order to secure that ramped-up oil production. All in all, Obama would prefer to wait until after his re-election for any Israel-Iran blow-up, because at that point, he'll have more "flexibility."

Last weekend I visited the U.C. Berkeley campus and on a whim attended a lecture with the provocative title "Teaching as a Subversive Activity - Revisited."

teaching as a Subversive
Because this was a presentation aimed at education insiders only, the lecturer, retired professor H. Douglas Brown from S.F. State, seemed perfectly willing to let the cat out of the bag about political indoctrination on college campuses. Fortunately, I had my trusty camera with me, so I was able not only to snap a few pictures but also record several key portions of his speech, which I found so eye-opening that I felt the general public deserved to hear it as well.

The timing couldn't have been better: A devastating new report issued by the National Association of Scholars had just been issued a few days beforehand, which documented with exquisite and irrefutable detail the extreme liberal bias at the University of California. However, the main problem with the NAS report (which you can download in full here if you're interested) is that it's too overwhelming and too technical to deliver the kind of emotional impact needed to sway public opinion. To drive home the point in a more personal way, the NAS report needed an introductory companion anecdote of a professor frankly confessing the rationale behind what is essentially the "theory of indoctrination." As if on cue, Professor Brown stepped into that role, unwitting though he may have been.

Let it be noted that Professor H. Douglas Brown is no wild-eyed extremist; in fact, he's rather bland and respectable and not the most thrilling of speakers, as you will soon hear. But that's what made his presentation so disturbing: radical and self-admittedly "subversive" attitudes that affect the future of society are discussed with matter-of-fact nonchalance. The main drawback of Professor Brown's verbal style (at least from my point of view) is that he often resorts to the academics' tried-and-true escape hatch, which is to rephrase statements as questions, so as to have plausible deniability if later confronted. Thus, for example, instead of just flatly saying something like "We should indoctrinate students with leftist ideologies," he asks "Should we indoctrinate students with leftist ideologies?" and only after five minutes of talking in circles eventually concludes "Yes."

Voter's Guide - Urgent information

April 12, 2012

Dear Patriots,

As a businessman, father and grandfather I believe that we have reached a historic crossroad where we have been forced to either fight for a serious change in direction or suffer the loss of what we currently hold dear.  Unfortunately, most persons have been convinced that they should do very little or nothing at all.

I was recently at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference where a very stark revelation was made clear.  A question was asked of the 700 plus people in the auditorium:  "How many persons here believe that you have had it better than your parents?"   I believe that everyone raised their hand.  The speaker then asked "How many of you believe that your children will have it as good as you?"  Every hand went down.

Personally, I believe along with many others that we are in very serious trouble.  We are a very short distance from the rioting in the streets as we see in countries like Greece.  Our politicians are not seriously addressing the problems.  They continue to bribe the American public with money that is not theirs.

This overspending is not only dishonest and unethical; it is immoral and must be stopped if we have any real hope for our children and grandchildren.

Please take the time to review the voter's guide at the link provided.  You will see that there is only one candidate for US Senate who we can really count on to stand firm against the establishment pressure for "spending as usual."  The other candidates may be a help, but we do not know for certain how they will eventually vote on important issues and we honestly think they will compromise on many fronts.

Churches have every right to make this information available in bulk to the congregation and the general public.  They are not allowed to tell persons who to vote for, but they can tell everyone that there is a voting guide available for the Primary Election and challenge people to do their part.

Please get involved by distributing this Voter's Guide to as many persons as possible, especially at the polls on April 24.  Do not let this opportunity escape us.

Sincerely Yours,

David M. Nyce

Free Market Feminism: Why Capitalism is GREAT for Women

When: Wednesday, April 18th; 7-9 PM

Where:
Temple University Student Center 200C

ENTRANCE to Student Center South is on 13th between Cecil B. Moore and Montgomery Aves.

Come out and join TUSIF in listening to Jennifer Stefano, Pennsylvania State Director of Americans for Prosperity, speak about why capitalism benefits women more than any other economic system.

Women's Rights, at every level, are inextricably woven into the fabric of ev
erything that makes America a strong nation, socially, in business, and politically. Join us to advance women in the moot climate of Obama anti American policies.

What is this event about?

There's a war on women being waged and the leader is America's Commander in Chief. President Barack Obama's economic policies are harming women (and men and children too) and killing their prospects for a better life. Learn about how capitalism and the promotion of free markets, limited government and constitutional principles is the best way for women to advance economically and politically.

Who is Jennifer Stefano?

Jennifer Stefano is the state director of Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania and a regular guest on Fox News and Fox Business News. She her articles and quotes on free markets, capitalism and limited government have appeared in the The New York Times, The Washington Post, Investors Business Daily and the International Herald Tribune as well as other national and local publications. Her work as a political activist was documented in the book, "Boiling Mad: Inside Tea Party America" by Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times Reporter Kate Zernike.

What is Americans for Prosperity?

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is committed to educating citizens about economic policy and mobilizing those citizens as advocates in the public policy process. AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state, and federal levels. The grassroots activists of AFP advocate for public policies that champion the principles of entrepreneurship and fiscal and regulatory restraint.

George W. Bush to speak in Pennsylvania on GOP presidential primary day

Former President George W. Bush will deliver a speech in Pennsylvania on the day of the state's GOP presidential primary. Bush is the only prominent politician in his family that has not made an endorsement in the 2012 presidential race.

Bush will give the keynote address at the Plumstead Christian School's annual "Founders Forum" on the Calvary Church's campus in Souderton, according to the school's official website.

His father, former President George H. W. Bush is the most recent member of the Bush family to endorse former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for president.

Bush reportedly asked Romney if his son had endorsed him for president yet.

"I haven't met with President George W. Bush," Romney said. "We speak from time to time."

Barbara Bush, his wife, replied, "We'll talk about that."

Dr. Larry P. Arnn
Dr. Larry P. Arnn

Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"

In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.

That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."

Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.

I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!

And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.

Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:

"Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution"

This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!

I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!

Hillsdale College"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.

It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.

Classes listed in Blue have been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking on the link for each class below.

The U.S. Constitution

A Reader

Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.

Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader.   Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.

What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.

The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.

There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.

But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.

Lame rhetoric? I'm afraid not. If you do not understand the threat we face from 'peaceful' opportunists like CAIR, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/messages or contact me at bucksafa11@yahoo.com to schedule an Open the Koran presentation for you and your friends.

If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.

But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.

Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.

Thanks,

John Ryan

About John Stossel

John Stossel joined Fox Business Network (FBN) in 2009. He hosts "Stossel," a weekly program highlighting current consumer issues with a libertarian viewpoint, which debuted. His first shows covered health care, global warming, the novel Atlas Shrugged, "food police", and the Road to Serfdom.

Prior to joining FBN, Stossel co-anchored ABC's prime-time news magazine show, 20/20. There he contributed in-depth special reports and recurring segments on a variety of consumer topics, from pop culture to government and business.

John Stossel's new book, "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails-but Individuals Succeed,"argues: "There ought not to be a law." Stossel explains how politicians promise to solve problems by passing laws, but the laws invariably make our problems worse.

Why don't we learn? Because our brains don't intuit well about complex situations. After thousands of years of taking orders from tribal elders, after years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.

Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine.

We're going to Washington, D.C. to stand with Israel

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

THE PRIMARY IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

APRIL 24, 2012

Thank you Jeff and Brenda Ney for this fantastic explanation!   For those of you who have asked how you can respond to people about the negative attack ads against Sam, this is information that my husband put together. I hope it helps you as you interact with people both before and on election day.

1. The pay raise vote was
NOT unconstitutional. The vote was COMPLETELY within the law. This charge by Smith is a BALD FACE LIE!. The part that was unconstitutional was the action of the State House leadership AFTER the vote, when they tried to take the raise in the same year it was enacted. They also added in an increase in unvouchered expense reimbursement also to be taken in the same year. The State Constitution only allows an increase in benefits to take place after next election cycle, to allow voters the choice of removing those that would vote for an increase in benefits.

With that being said, Sam was one of a handful of ethical legislators that fought to
REPEAL the newly enacted law, and they were successful with, Ed Rendell signing the repeal on November 16, 2005.

Bottom line SAM NEVER TOOK THE PAY RAISE OR ANY INCREASE IN PER DIEM EXPENSES! PERIOD!

2. The Pension issue. While Sam voted way back in 2001 to increase state pensions, he did so based on faulty, untruthful projection numbers given by Governor Ridge at the time. It as not
MASSIVE. It totaled about 17%. He also apogized for his vote in many public forum owning up to his mistake.

SEND THEM THIS LINK
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/regional/s_664066.html

3. 'Billed Taxpayers over $14,000 in 'personal expenses'.

First of all, they are
NOT personal expenses. The State House has a LAWFUL per diem reimbursement for expenses while conducting State business on State time. The lawmakers do not 'bill' the state for their expenses, they fill out an expense report like everyone does in business. Rohrer has been consistently in the bottom 5% for the use of these monies. A fact this hit piece fails to acknowledge. After numerous Google searches, I was unable to find the article referenced in the hit piece.

Lastly, you can tell people that these false advertisements show the true character of a candidate. Tell them if Smith is lying to you now, how can you ever trust him to tell the truth once in office. You might also tell them he is spending over $250,000 a year on the political consultants that help him put together these hit pieces and that he is voted in 19 straight Democratic primaries for Democratic candidates before turning Republican.

It's easy to attack the record of another when you have
NO VOTING RECORD YOURSELF!!!
I hope this helped you.

Resources on 2nd & 10th Amendments for Rohrer outreach to Gun and Fish & Game clubs, gunshops, Constitutionalists

To: Patriots for Sam!

     Please pass this on.....

With this great endorsement from Gunowners Of America (see attachment), gun owners and outdoorsmen, with their natural bent toward constitutional rights, are almost a given for Sam  IF THEY HEAR ABOUT HIM - - MANY STILL HAVE NOT.  NOW IS THE TIME to find out through friends or local gun shops when the local gun and F&G clubs have their monthly meetings.

Schedule now a visit to clubs who still have one meeting before April 24th; or convince a friend who is a member to speak for Sam at the club if you can't be there; or ask the president if he would mention Sam and pass the flyers around - they are usually very willing.  The attached letter of endorsement from Gunowners Of America is very convincing, focusing on 2nd amendment and 10th amendment.  Also, I would give him your contact info for any of his members that want to volunteer for Sam.

Following are a couple of good video clips from Sam's 2010 speeches to forward to people who care about these issues.   Ask the Gun/Fish & Game club officers if you can forward informational emails on SAM to their email network, then send the GOA letter, along with these video links.  Watch these yourself: Sam's GREAT responses will convince any gunowner that  he fundamentally understands and believes in the Second Amendment and the clips are short.

And don't forget the gun shops in your area:  drop off a Sam flyer to post there (Legislative checklist flyer is good too)

Also, we want to encourage anyone to whom we give info to go to his website, www.rohrerforsenate.org where they can find links to sign up to get email updates from the campaign, to volunteer (we NEED poll workers), and to donate.  Jaime

Last week, the Philadelphia Bar Association sent a legislative action alert e-mail urging members to immediately call their legislators to oppose the voter ID bill that was being considered in the state Senate. The e-mail included a convenient "quickly generate a letter now" button. With the click of a mouse, a form letter full of Democratic talking points against voter ID and sprinkled with references to Philadelphia as the birthplace of democracy was spewed out.

The Heritage Foundation The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Patriot Action Network

Patriot Action Network

We are the Tea Party

On Thursday, our staff finalized the most explosive resource that Grassfire has ever published. It's called 69 Obama Lies. It's a Fantastic Resource for this election year!

I believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough "vetting" of Obama's actual words in print. And I know it is going to outrage the Left because we actually hold Obama accountable for what he said!

69 Obama Lies

Dear Patriot,

About six weeks ago, our staff set out with the goal of putting the "truth detector" to what Obama has actually said. What we realized is Obama has lied so pervasively and thoroughly that even our staff had forgotten many of his most outrageous fibs! That's when we realized we had to create a written record of the Obama Lies.

When we finished, we had created a 122-page, 20,000-word dossier that documents a disturbing cross-section of fibs, falsehoods, and fabrications that our President has used to win votes while implementing his radical agenda. Go here to see a larger image of the cover and the full list of 69 Obama Lies we have documented:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

+ + The Lies that got Obama elected...

69 Obama Lies is organized in six sections that cover everything from the lies Obama has told about himself (we call these "ObamaLies"), to his campaign lies, his lies about government and taxes, ObamaCare and domestic and foreign policy.

They are all here -- and footnoted so you will have complete documentation. We start with the ObamaLies -- his denial of Rev. Wright.... the "normalcy" of his church... the Bill Ayers lie... the ACORN lie... and Obama's "Brother's Keeper" lie which exposes his Marxist core.

Let's be clear -- it was these  "ObamaLies" along with his campaign lies that got Obama elected in the first place. Obama's ability to cloak his real beliefs and his real associations (with the willing help of the liberal media) kept his campaign moving forward.

But we don't stop there....

+ + Obama's "Big Government" Lies

69 Obama Lies also tracks the BIG LIE that Obama sold to the American people just after Inauguration Day -- that massive deficit spending would "create and save" jobs and restore the economy.

It was all a LIE. We know that now. But it is vitally important to have the facts laid out in an orderly fashion. That's precisely what 69 Obama Lies does. We expose the full range of Obama's Big Government lies...

The "Create Or Save Jobs" Lie...

The Stimulus Law is Working" Lie...

The "I'll Cut The Deficit" Lie...

The "Government Motors" Lie...

The "Cash for Clunkers" Lie...

The "Rich Pay Less In Taxes" Lie...

+ + Border Lies, ObamaCare Lies... Energy Lies...

69 Obama Lies literally covers every aspect of Obama's presidency -- from his lies about border security and immigration to his lies about gas prices and green jobs.

We saved a whole section for Obama's signature legislative "achievement" -- ObamaCare. We've identified a Baker's Dozen of fibs Obama told just to get ObamaCare passed.

And please note that each of the 69 Obama Lies is like a mini research report -- clearly laying out the specific Obama lie and fully documenting our sources.

You get the actual words of Obama set against the truth -- the LIE next to the reality check. Go here to request your copies and see the complete list of 69 Lies:

+ + 69 Obama Lies Begins Shipping In Two Weeks!

If you can help Grassfire with a contribution of ANY AMOUNT (even a few dollars to cover printing and shipping), we'll send you TWO COPIES of "69 Obama Lies" -- one to keep and one to share with a friend.

We have asked the printer to rush the first printing of 69 Obama Lies so we can get this resource into our team members' hands as quickly as possible.

As a result, we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23.

In order to be included in our first shipment, please let me
hear from you as soon as
possible. Go here to request your two copies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

I truly believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough and most important resource Grassfire has ever created. And I want to put it in the hands of every Grassfire team member.

Please take a moment to order your two copies of 69 Obama Lies today, and thanks for the stand you are taking.

Steve Elliott

Grassfire Nation

P.S. As I write, the manuscript is going to the printer and we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23. The first print run of our last resource quickly sold out.  Please go here to see the complete list of 69 Obama Lies and to order your copies:

Patriots, this booklet will assist in setting the record straight with swing voters, moderates, and even Democrats! This is the best resource I have seen to prove the lies from Obama - out of his own mouth- versus the truth or facts. This is the resource of this 2012 Presidential election year.

Want Obama out? Then obtain multiple copies of this booklet and share with friends, neighbors, co-workers, church family, and your tea party. To win we must be equipped! This is the best weapon for your arsenal of resources to beat Obama!

Five Republicans battle in April primary to oppose Sen. Casey in fall

April 8, 2012 4:44 pm
1/7
U.S. Senator Bob Casey

WASHINGTON -- Everyone, it seems, wants Bob Casey's job.

Who wouldn't? The U.S. senator from Pennsylvania has one of Washington's most sought-after offices outside the White House.

His third-floor space in the Russell Senate Office Building was once occupied by the young Sen. John F. Kennedy. Four 8-by-10 shots on the wall show that Mr. Kennedy's desk was in the spot now reserved for office visitors who perch on a yellow couch to meet with Mr. Casey.

The office space, though, doesn't go with the job. Offices are assigned by seniority. Mr. Casey got the coveted spot when its prior occupant, Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., took over Joe Biden's office when the Delaware senator became vice president.

That's something Steve Welch, Tom Smith, Sam Rohrer, Marc Scaringi, David Christian and Joe Vodvarka ought to know.

The five Republicans and one Democrat -- Mr. Vodvarka -- are on the ballot to unseat the one-term U.S. senator from Scranton. John Kensinger wants a shot, too. The Bedford County pharmacist is running as a write-in candidate after failing to collect enough signatures to appear on the Republican primary ballot.

Recent polls show no clear frontrunner in the Republican contest, but indicate that Mr. Casey would beat any of them if the general election were held today.

PA Leadership Coalition

Obama a threat to low-cost gas
by Gordon Tomb - Director of Communications, PA Coalition for Responsible Government

If it is possible to kill the layer of the golden egg that is low natural gas prices, you can count on the Obama administration to find a way.
Natural gas prices are at record lows because of soaring production from areas such as the Marcellus Shale region of Pennsylvania.  This is a boon for consumers and for energy-intensive industries whose lower costs offer hope to a struggling economy.

Enter President Obama April 13 to issue an executive order establishing an Interagency Working Group to Support the Safe and Responsible Development of Unconventional Domestic Natural Gas Resources.

The length of the name is enough to alert any supporter of a vibrant industry to trouble.  Obama's creation has a moniker of 16 words and not a single one resembles "economical".  Never mind "profitable".

The group will be made up of representatives from 13 organizations and "such other agencies or offices as the Chair may invite to participate."  Named so far are the departments of Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Health and Human Services, Transportation, Energy and Homeland Security and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Council on Environmental Quality, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Office of Management and Budget and the National Economic Council.

The EPA has been trying to insinuate itself into the regulation of natural gas development in Pennsylvania even though the state has a robust regulatory program of its own.  Now EPA will have at least a dozen other agencies to help it impede the production of this form of energy.

The federal government has slowed oil drilling, has stymied the construction of an oil pipeline and is well along in killing coal-fired electricity generation.

We can only speculate on the motives of the federal government, but it must be frustrating for Obama to witness a fossil-based energy industry thrive through the ingenuity of free enterprise and the competence of private companies.

Cheap natural gas is not consistent with the President's vision of high-cost fossil energy competing with high-cost solar and wind energy.  And then there is the environmental lobby that peddles falsehoods about the safety of energy development to a Luddite bureaucracy ever in search of its purpose.

Industry's response has been timid:  "As the inter-agency's panel begins its work, we remain eager to provide real-time, on-the-ground insight in an effort that common sense regulations are in place, which is essential to leveraging the countless benefits of America's natural gas resources," said the Marcellus Shale Coalition in a statement.

This may be an industry harboring a false hope for good faith on the part of federal regulators.  It is more likely the reaction of an industry living in fear.

Companies developing the Marcellus Shale are among the most successful in the world.  But theirs is a risky business.  Profits can be fleeting.  Recently, some companies suspended drilling in areas of Pennsylvania because low gas prices have made production a losing proposition.

Add the risk of 13 agencies - and counting - with the power to litigate the largest company into misery and a smaller company into oblivion, and you get a long statement from a meek industry at a loss for a fighting word.

If everybody were telling the truth, the dialogue would go something like this:

President Obama:  "I am ordering my various departments of gangsters to force natural gas prices so high that solar and wind energy might - with a few billion dollars of subsidies - make money for my campaign donors."

Marcellus Shale Coalition:  "We are prevented from calling the President the thug that he is out of a need to protect our stockholders from the threat of financial ruin.  We choose to appease him until he goes away."

The record of appeasement in influencing bullies is a sorry one.  The Marcellus Shale Coalition, along with many others, say nothing as the federal attack on coal leads to the closings of coal-fired generating plants.

We are left to wonder:  Will the President go away with the November election?  Or will he transform the U.S. into a third-world country of Don Quixotes chasing windmills for lighting and hot water?

Note:  Gordon Tomb is an energy writer and director of communications for the PA Coalition for Responsible Government. He can be reached at gwtomb@gmail.com.

RedState Morning Briefing

For April 16, 2012

1. 3...2...1... Blast Off!

For those of you in Washington, D.C. today, I've got a deal for you - free empanadas. For breakfast, go to the Capitol South metro station.

For lunch, head to Farragut Square.

Did I mention they are free?

The empanadas will be from the food truck, DC Empanadas. You'll get coffee and other beverages too.

This is so exciting and long overdue. Our sister publication, Human Events, is going through a whole sale makeover and relaunch today. It is important and I am excited about it.

I have seen the new site and printed page. They are gorgeous.

Why all the fuss? Because Ronald Reagan's favorite newspaper is headed back into actual, full time news gathering and generation. If you ask me, we charting a redirected course away from one of the singularly major, yet unheralded, accomplishments of President Bill Clinton.

You can read that last sentence again.

2. Romney takes an early lead

Romney takes an early lead over President Obama.

The FOX News poll released Friday, Romney leads Obama 46% to 44%.

The Rasmussen Reports 2012 Daily Presidential Matchup Tracking poll has Romney leading Obama 48% to 43%.

3. David Axelrod Endorses Mitt Romney for President

David Axelrod, Chief Strategist for President Barack Obama, endorsed Mitt Romney for President on Fox News Sunday this morning. He told Chris Wallace, "The choice in this election is between an economy that produces a growing middle class and that gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead and an economy that continues down the road we're on."

That is precisely right and precisely what Mitt Romney's campaign has been telling people. Good to see David Axelrod agrees.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

4. Cook: State Republican parties gave national GOP 9 seats for 2012.

Cook Political Report has more or less formalized their 2012 redistricting scorecard; their final score is a gain of one Republican seat, based solely on redistricting. Cook notes that this total actually represents about 10 to 15 seats being fortified for the GOP, given that the majority of legislators who benefited from redistricting were Republicans. This will no doubt infuriate Democrats, but then: elections matter.

In particular, state legislature elections matter.

Morning Bell: North Korea's Rogue Missile Launch

South Koreans watch a TV Report on the Launch of North Korea's missile on April 12, 2012.

In defiance of international pressure, North Korea last night launched a long range missile, underscoring the belligerent regime's continuing threat to U.S. interests and regional stability in Asia.

The launch comes as the rogue nation is continuing its transition to new leadership under dictator Kim Jong-un, who replaced his father Kim Jong-il after his death in December. In addition to the missile test, it has been reported that North Korea may also be in the "final stages" of preparations for another nuclear test, leading to escalating tensions that could spur Jong-un to undertake more provocative military actions.

This is despite promising on February 29 to agree to a "moratorium on nuclear tests, long-range missile launches, and uranium enrichment activity at Yongbyon and [would] allow the IAEA to monitor the moratorium on uranium enrichment while productive dialogues continue." The Obama Administration was criticized for accepting this vague statement as a bilateral agreement without insisting on a detailed joint document that clearly laid out both sides' commitments. Today, we see the result as North Korea is claiming that its test did not violate the terms of the agreement.

North Korea's missile reportedly failed shortly after launch, but nevertheless demands a strong U.S. response.

Faith 'My God Will Wipe This Country From the Face of the Earth': The Real Louis Farrakhan in His Own Words on GBTV

Glenn Beck's highly anticipated special exposing the true face of Nation of Islam leader of over 30 years, Louis Farrakhan, aired Thursday evening on GBTV. What was revealed might shock you.

When weighing the idea of featuring an expose on this notorious figure, security experts expressed concern over Beck's desire, given the Nation of Islam's violent history. As such, there could very well be consequences for telling truths such as this.

After careful consideration, Beck and his team decided to move forward and examine "one of the most dangerous organizations in America." Since the fall-out could be great, however, Beck said the benefits must then outweigh the risks. "The benefits rely on you," he told the audience. He said that if the information conveyed in this special is not disseminated by viewers to their friends and family, the risk taken will have been in vain.

In fact, so important to Beck is the following profile of Farrakhan, that portions of the special will be made available without subscription on both The Blaze and GBTV so that viewers can share the information freely.

"Tonight you will see the enemy within our own walls," he began.

 Act! for America

April 13, 2012     Publisher dismisses
textbook report
Click here to view the report

"On September 11, 2001, the United States was the target of a horrible act of terrorism, or violence to further a cause..."

Horizons (2005), p. 656, Harcourt

A common omission in the textbooks reviewed in our report was any reference to the perpetrators of 9/11 being Muslims engaged in the cause of Islamic jihad. It is difficult to conclude this omission was accidental or inadvertent.

How are students to understand what motivated the 9/11 terrorists and why it happened if they are not told who they were and why they did it? It's like writing about the attack on Pearl Harbor and never informing students that the Japanese Imperial Navy launched the attack.

In an April 11th Washington Beacon news story (below, highlights added), we see the first response to our report from one of the textbook publishers:

Blumenfeld [a spokesman for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt] said ACT is wasting its time.

"Anyone who says (textbooks are pro-Islam) is just looking to make a name for themselves and should focus on doing something more productive," he said.

Did Blumenfeld read or even skim the report? Given his dismissive attitude and response, we doubt it.

If you haven't yet reviewed this eye-opening report, we urge you to do so by clicking here. When you do, ask yourself if exposing what amounts to indoctrination of middle and high school students is "a waste of time."

The Washington Free Beacon   Revisionist History     Education consultants working to whitewash history of Islam in public schools

Under pressure from a well-funded Muslim education group, the nation's public school textbooks increasingly present a politically correct portrait of Islam, according to a new report.

ACT for American Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of Islamic fundamentalism, said it found examples of historical revisionism in 38 of the most popular history textbooks used in public schools.

ACT traced the new approach to Islam to a non-profit group that employs education consultants with links to political Islam, draws money from controversial donors, and has promoted glaring inaccuracies about the religion's history.

The Institution on Religion and Civic Values-which recently changed its name from the Council on Islamic Education-is working to conduct a "bloodless" revolution in the school system according to founder Shabbir Mansuri.

The Russians are lining up with Syria and Iran against Israel: Has Obama given his okay?

Apr 14, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins

By Jim Emerson, staff writer

Russiais anticipating that Iran will be attacked this summer and has developed a contingency plan to mass troops along the Iranian border. On the surface, this move will be used by the Russians to justify the move to protect its interests in the region as well assist the Islamic regime if needed. Their plan doesn't leave out the possibility of Russian Forces to engaging Israelis and Americans if Moscow feels its interests in Iran are threatened. The goal will be a show of force to stop any former Soviet states from providing military support to any country which attacks Iran and/or Syria.

Moscow's involvement in Syria includes an upgrading of a Russian maintained long range radar surveillance station in Damascus. This will alert the Arab nation of any incoming NATO aerial attack and monitor the Air operations of Israel and other nearby countries. By mutual agreement with Russia and Iran this station ... Obama's Jonnie Carson is no comedian, he's just a liar

Apr 13, 2012 02:13 pm | Coach Collins

 By Kevin "Coach" Collins

It seems that when it comes to addressing Muslim terrorism, nobody in Barack Obama's Administration can tell the truth. His Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Jonnie Carson has declared the Muslim murder sprees in Nigeria are not driven by Islam's hatred of any religion but their own. Carson said, "religion is not driving extremist violence"

His statement came the day after a Christian church in Nigeria was bombed during an Easter Sunday service. The attack, which killed 39 Nigerian Christians, followed the same plan used by Boko Haram a Nigerian Islamist terrorist group when they killed 40 Nigerian Christians on Christmas Day in the troubled African country.

Carson who is a comfortable liar compared Islamic terror in Nigeria to 'ethnic diversity' in America saying, "I want to take this opportunity to stress one key point and that is that religion is not driving extremist violence either in Jos ... "There is a tsunami of evidence that the man that sits in the White House is not who he says he is."

Apr 15, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins

 By George Spelvin, staff writer

Pictures of Barack Obama are surfacing on a scholarly research site  that show him shouting through a bull horn in front of possible members of the African Luo tribe named as his ancestors in Kenya.  Other pictures without captions show Obama in African tribal attire with two other men; and with at least 10 men in western clothes. Yet another picture shows him with a group of women wearing traditionally African attire that may or may not be his relatives.

that because he released his COLB (certificate of live birth) on the White House website, prima facie evidence exists to investigate Obama's birth and eligibility as proscribed by our Constitution's Article II, Section I, clause 5.

Noah Webster first published his Dictionary on APRIL 14, 1828.
This 26-year project with 30,000 new definitions, standardized spelling and gave American English its identity.
Proving unprofitable, the rights were purchased after his death by George and Charles Merriam.
In the preface of his original edition, Noah Webster wrote:
"In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...
No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."
Noah Webster concluded:
"To that great and benevolent Being...who has borne me and my manuscripts in safety across the Atlantic, and given me strength and resolution to bring the work to a close, I would present the tribute ... Continue Reading:American Minute April 14

If you think the federal tax code and the IRS are out of control, you're right!

Apr 14, 2012 02:13 pm | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

It's tax time again and once again we will be forced to knuckle under to our government's demands. If you suspect there is plenty wrong with the current system, here are some facts to support your suspicions.

The U.S. tax code is now 3.8 million words long.  All of Shakespeare's works are 900,000 words long.

According to the National Taxpayers Union, U.S. taxpayers spend more than 7.6 billion hours complying with federal tax requirements.  In 19 37 two pages of instructions came with a Form 1040; today 189 pages are necessary.

There have been 4428 changes to the tax code in just the past 10 years.

The IRS currently offers 1999 different publications.

Fifteen years ago as a test 46 professional tax preparers completed a hypothetical tax return.  All 46 of them came up with a different result. Do you think the same test tried today would be any different?

The Tax Foundation says the ... Continue Reading:If you think the federal tax code and the IRS are out of control, you're right!

Epic Hypocrisy at the New York Times

When it comes to unions, the New York Times is conflicted to say the least. In the political arena, the paper is vociferously pro-union. Thus, its editorial board has denounced Scott Walker and Wisconsin's Republicans on a number of occasions, such as this August 10, 2011 editorial titled "Wisconsin's Warning to Union-Busters:"

The Politics of Bad Faith

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 01:07 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

Hmm. Somebody should write a book with that title. A frequent email correspondent offers an important example of the bad faith that permeates liberals' political discourse:

The MSM/left is always acting in bad faith. Here is today's object lesson from the ever slithery Ezra Klein:

As the baby boomers retire and health costs continue to grow, more revenues will be needed. For Democrats who have spent the last decade convincing members of the middle class that they will forever be exempt from tax increases, that's going to be a tough about-face to make.

If there is a bright spot, it is that Obama and the Democrats, to their credit, are willing to break their pledge. They effectively raised future taxes on people making less than $250,000 when they passed the excise tax on high-value health- insurance plans as part of health-care reform, for instance.

Barack Obama, Tax Avoider

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 12:23 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

It is hard to know what to make of Barack Obama's re-election campaign. Based on his recent speeches, it appears that his number one campaign issue will be the "Buffett Rule," which he acknowledges is a gimmick that will do essentially nothing to address the country's fiscal crisis. So Obama is unserious; that is a given. But we assumed that the Buffett Rule could at least be effective demagoguery, given that Mitt Romney's income consists almost entirely of long-term capital gains, so that his federal income taxes represent less than 20% of his adjusted gross income.

Reagan vs. Obama

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 10:35 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

I know a historian who wrote a brilliant article about how Democrats are misappropriating Ronald Reagan for purposes fundamentally at odds with Reagan's own. The Democrat-in-Chief was back at it again this week. It's almost pathetic. It is certanly pathetically dishonest. Even the Washington Post called a foul. As the historian observed last year: "Obama's appropriation was and is disingenuous on every level." This week was same as it ever was.

For something a little closer to the mark, let's take a look at Reagan vs. Obama: Social Economics 101. It features a supporting cast of former presidents with a cameo appearance by Richard Nixon.

UPDATE: Bill Kristol takes a look at "What Reagan actually said."

Two Flops of Cosmic Proportions

(John Hinderaker)

North Korea fired its long-awaited rocket today, with embarrassing results: the rocket "disintegrated moments after the launching, and American and Japanese officials said its remnants fell harmlessly into the sea." It couldn't happen to a nicer crazed dictator.

Here in the U.S., the Democratic Party experienced a fizzle of similar proportions, when its War on Mothers crashed on takeoff. Democratic operative Hilary Rosen, having been dispatched to lead the anti-Mothers initiative by asserting that Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life, was thrown under the bus when public reaction proved unfavorable. Hilary Rosen? Jay Carney asked. I know three women named Hilary Rosen! Perhaps, but only one of the three has visited the White House 35 times, far more often than the Secretary of Defense

Will Senate Democrats Finally Write a Budget?

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 04:07 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

For three years, in stark violation of federal law, the Democratic Senate has refused to write and adopt a budget. Over time, pressure on the Democrats has grown, but Harry Reid still says that he will not permit any budget-even a Democratic one-to come to the floor of the Senate.

But Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad seems to be feeling pangs of conscience, perhaps because he is retiring at the end of this year. Conrad has announced that next week, the committee will mark up a budget. This could set up an interesting conflict between Conrad (and presumably some other Senate Democrats) and Majority Leader Harry Reid, who puts partisan advantage above all else, even when it requires flouting the law.

Instead of the Buffett Rule, How About the Geithner Rule?

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 12:29 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

President Obama has now admitted that the "Buffett Rule," formerly the centerpiece of his re-election campaign, is a silly gimmick that will raise hardly any money for the treasury. (Actually, it might cost the federal government money, as increases in the capital gains rate have been known to do.) So how about if, instead, we start talking about the Geithner Rule, which is: everyone pays what he owes under existing laws?

The Axeman cometh

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 11:59 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

The White House disclosed this past week that President Obama paid an effective federal tax rate of just over 20 percent on adjusted gross income of nearly $790,000. The White House claimed that Obama's effective federal tax rate was lower than that of his secretary and used it as an argument to support the its so-called Buffett Rule proposal, even though the Buffett Rule wouldn't affect taxpayers making less than $1 million a year. In the parallel universe occupied by President Obama and his supporters, it all makes perfect sense.

On Fox News Sunday this morning Chris Wallace asked Obama political guru David Axelrod why Obama doesn't just chip in at the office to mitigate the unfairness of the system (transcript here). Good question!

Bill Maher, the Gift that Keeps On Giving

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 09:45 AM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

The Obama White House desperately wants the Ann Romney fiasco to go away, and long ago tried to throw Hilary Rosen under the bus. If the administration's allies have any sense, they will pretend the whole thing never happened. But who ever said Bill Maher had any sense? Afflicted by a sort of left-wing Tourette's Syndrome, he can't help himself. So, thanks, Bill, for helping to keep Obama's self-inflicted wound bleeding:

But what [Hilary Rosen] meant to say, I think, was that Ann Romney has never gotten her ass out of the house to work.

Yup, that's the ticket. Keep it up!

Crisis and Leviathan in Reverse?

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 08:40 AM PDT

One of the truly great-and somewhat neglected-classic conservative books of the last generation is Robert Higgs's 1987 book Crisis and Leviathan: Critical Episodes in the Growth of American Government. The book explores what is sometimes called the "ratchet effect," that is, how government always seems just to grow and grow without limit. He reviews and discounts a number of the conventional hypotheses about the growth of the modern state, such as "modernization," in favor of a more simple explanation, what Higgs calls the Crisis Hypothesis: government always uses a "crisis" to expand its power and reach permanently. It's a generalized variation of the famous Randolph Bourne comment that "war is the health of the state," though economic crises, the Great Depression being Exhibit 1, serve nicely too.

I've been wondering for a long time whether we might someday start to experience a reverse effect from the Crisis Hypothesis, that is, that a social and/or political crisis would have the result of shrinking Leviathan rather than growing it further. The conditions preceding the 1980 election, and Reagan's arrival on the scene, looked like it might be Crisis and Leviathan in reverse, but as I've noted several places, in some ways the Reagan years appear to have been a mere speed bump (or a traffic stop) on the road to bigger government.

David Axelrod Strains To Explain Obama's Multiple Explanations On Buffett Tax
David Axelrod Strains To Explain Obama's Multiple Explanations On Buffett Tax

Some highlights:

"I remember when $47 billion was a lot of money, it still is a lot of money."

Yeah, but when compared to our $15 trillion debt? Or the $6.4 trillion the president's budget adds to that deficit? Not so much, to say the least.

"It stabilizes the deficit and ensures a modicum of fairness in our tax system."

And again, let's compare: $47 billion in added revenue over ten years, vs. $6.4 trillion added to deficit spending? Laughable. As for "fairness," how about instead of raising taxes on one segment of society, we enact a simplified, flatter tax? Again, however, Team Obama doesn't much care about real, working tax reform. They're obsessed with the perception that everyone pays their "fair share." It's a concept divorced from numerical reality, but hey, it makes for a great stump speech.

Speaking of fair shares, this interview had its own fair share of choice morsels of leftist failure, including this fantastic moment when Wallace noted that Obama was engaging in the very scare tactics he condemned back in 2008.

Fox News' Chris Wallace:
Fox News' Chris Wallace: "This From The Candidate Of Hope And Change"

"This from the candidate of hope and change?" Burn.

The best moment, however, came when Axelrod unwittingly endorsed Romney for president. Hat tip goes to Kevin Eder for this one:

So, wait. We don't want an economy that "continues down the road we're on?" Well then! America, you've heard it straight from the mouth of a top Team Obama operative: if you want to see real change in the economy, don't reelect Barack.

From Slavery to Freedom
As another Passover comes to an end and the cycle of the year continues its brief spin, the echoes of "Once we were slaves and now we are free" and "Next year in Jerusalem" fade into the background noise of everyday life. We can board a plane tomorrow and fly off to Jerusalem, some of us are already there now, but will that make us free?

Since Egypt we have become slaves again, lived under the rule of iron-fisted tyrants and forgotten what the very idea of freedom means. And that will likely happen again and again until the age ends. What is this freedom that we gained with the fall of a Pharaoh and the last sight of his pyramids and armies?

Freedom like slavery, is as much a state of mind as a state of being. It is possible to be legally free, yet to have no freedom of action whatsoever. And it is possible to be legally a slave and yet to be free in defiance of those restrictions. External coercion alone does not make a man free or slave, it is the degradation of mind that makes a man a slave.

What is a slave? A slave is complicit in his own oppression. His slavery has become his natural state and he looks to his master, not to free him, but to command him. Had the Jews of Egypt merely been restrained by physical coercion, it would have been enough to directly and immediately smash the power of the Egyptian state. But their slavery was mental. They moaned not at the fact of slavery, but at the extremity of it. When their taskmasters complained to Pharaoh, it was not of slavery, but of not being given the straw with which to build the bricks.

The worst slavery is of the most insidious kind. It leaves the slave able to think and act, but not as a free man. It leaves him with cunning, but not courage. He is able to use force, but only to bring other slaves into line. And most hideously, this state of affairs seems moral and natural to him. This is his freedom.

The true slave has come to love big brother, to worship at the foot of the system that oppresses him. It is this twisted love that must be torn out of him. It is this idolatry of the whip before which he kneels, this panting to know who his superior and who his inferiors are, this love of a vast order that allows him to be lost in its wonders, to gaze in awe at the empire of tomorrow which builds its own tombs today, that must be broken. These are his gods and he must kill them within himself to be free.

The Exodus is not the story of the emergence of free men who were enslaved, but the slow painful process by which slaves became a nation of free men, a long troubled journey which has not yet ended. That is why we celebrate Passover, not as an event of the past, but as of a road that we still travel, a long journey from slavery to freedom.

Friday Afternoon Roundup - Bread and Racial Circuses

BREAD AND RACIAL CIRCUSES

Forget the bread. The economy is in the toilet and unless you know someone who ponied up for a front row seat at an Obama fundraiser, it's staying there. Better together is the slogan, which means it only gets better if you stay together with The One. And I don't mean vote for him, I mean get the hook up. Just ask Warren Buffett, economic reform crusader, billionaire class warrior and inside dealer.

But don't worry, we may not have bread, but we do have racial circuses, brought to you live with occasional commercial interruptions by every network and news site in America. Forget the bread, we've got a new OJ Simpson trial, except with the races reversed and a defendant without a whole lot of money who's already being lynched by a corrupt prosecutor looking to build a political career over his body.

The Trayvon-Zimmerman trial may not be the trial of the century, but it can strive to be the trial of the election. One of those things that reminds black voters to vote along racial solidarity lines, reminds white voters to feel guilty about how racist our white hispanic country is and distracts everyone from the economy.

The losers in this are everyone not named Barack Obama or Angela Corey, who will suddenly be the country's most famous prosecutor since Marcia Clark and the subject of adoring profiles from the media that fall just short of a tongue bath.

While the circus goes on, the thieves keep thieving. Obama doesn't care about Trayvon Martin, he cares about staying in office for another term. Angela Corey doesn't care about Trayvon Martin, she built her career on running people like him through the system on dubious grounds. What she cares about is climbing up the ladder, getting her greasy little hands on some of that government money and becoming a bigger boss in the government crime syndicate.

Angela Corey, a cynical creature of the political-judicial system, is the perfect front-woman for the charade. When it's convenient she charges a 12 year old as an adult. When it's convenient she will dodge the jury and beamingly declare unsupportable charges against Zimmerman. It doesn't even matter whether she wins or loses. Her career wins either way. If she loses, she claims racial bias by the jury.

It's perfect and perfectly corrupt. It's the way we live now.

The ultimate losers in the racial circus are the black community whose leaders have once again bamboozled them into a racial and racist panic, complete with hate crimes, for their own benefit. The Sharptons and Jacksons will cash in, but the black community has once again learned the wrong lesson and remains poorly adapted to dealing with a multiracial society.

The demographic future of America looks a lot like George Zimmerman and a Hispanic America will have very little time and patience for racial grievance mobs and will have no reservoirs of white guilt to tap. The black community should be looking at Mexico and further south to understand what they need to prepare for. Instead they're being led around the nose by racial hucksters who promise them a white guilt utopia with affirmative action for all. It's a lie and the lie will come undone in the lifetimes of their children.

The rainbow coalition will not last past the day that there is a Latino majority that is prepared to take ownership of the country. It will be casually racist in a way that white people have not been in generations. And it will shut out the black community as soon as it no longer needs the alliance.

The tragedy of the black community is that it has discarded its opportunities for upward mobility while it had the chance and every possible privilege and incentive. It will be doomed to struggle in a system that is both corrupt and has no special liking for them. A system that will not only not give them any privileges, but will be actively biased against them.

The window of opportunity is closing fast while black leaders yell about white devils and mug for the camera. That is the real tragedy of a black community that found a thousand excuses why it could not do things, until the opportunity to do them was gone.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 207 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

The Tax Man Cometh

Today is Friday the 13th and this is the last scary weekend before Tax Day, a day millions of Americans dread. With taxes front and center over the next few days, I thought this would be a good time to address them.

Taxes are already a big issue, thanks to Obama's proposed Buffett rule. How much should people pay? What is fair? What is necessary? How much government can we afford? These important questions are debated every four years. For some liberals, the 30% Buffett rule is just a minimum starting point. Robert Reich thinks tax rates should go up to at least 50% and perhaps as much as 70%!

But the issue will only get bigger as we approach the Election Day because your tax bill is set to explode like a time bomb. On January 1, 2013 the Bush tax cuts automatically expire, and the impact of this "tax bomb" will be devastating to many families.

Many liberal Democrats want all of the Bush tax cuts to expire. They are furious that Obama, under pressure from congressional Republicans, renewed them for two years at the end of 2010, even though we were in the middle of the Great Recession. We're still not out of the woods yet, and most economists aren't predicting stronger growth until 2014 or later.

But given Obama's unwillingness to cut spending, evidenced by his trillion-dollar deficits each and every year of his administration, he will be under enormous pressure from his party not to compromise again and simply let these massive tax hikes take effect.

Should Obama be reelected -- (insert scream here) -- he will be free of any fear of a ballot box backlash. In short, the best way to prevent a massive tax hike on January 1, 2013, is to defeat Barack Obama and elect a conservative majority to the United States Senate on November 6, 2012.

So how will this impact you? Here are some important facts to keep in mind as you and friends debate the 2012 elections. If the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire:

  • The bottom 10% tax bracket would go up to 15%.
  • The 25% tax rate would go up to 28%.
  • The 28% rate would go up to 31%.
  • The 33% rate would go up to 36%.
  • The 35% rate would go up to 39.6%.
  • The per child tax credit would be cut in half from $1,000 to $500. This would hit working families especially hard.
  • The capital gains tax would increase from 15% to 20%. (On top of this would be another 3.8% increase as part of ObamaCare tax hikes.) The tax on dividends would go from 15% to ordinary wage rates, perhaps as high as 39.6%.
  • The "marriage penalty" would return.
  • The death tax, currently 35% with a $5 million exemption, would jump to 55% with only a $1 million exemption.

According to the Heritage Foundation, if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire in 2013, taxes will go up nearly $500 billion. That's $500 billion sucked out of the private economy so Obama can "invest" in wasteful boondoggles like Solyndra. But that's not all.

Remember Nancy Pelosi's infamous quip, "We'll have to pass [ObamaCare] so you can find out what's in it?" Well, if ObamaCare remains in effect, there is an additional $500 billion in new taxes baked in there too!

You don't have to be an Ivy League economist to predict the impact these massive tax increases would have on the economy. (In fact, it's probably better if you're not. The American people have more common sense than most of our over-educated economists!)

I suspect you have many friends who really don't care about politics and don't even bother to vote. Share this report with them. Politics affects everything, including our standard of living through how much of our hard-earned money big government takes away in each paycheck. And Barack Obama wants to take even more.

Of course he'll say he only wants to take it from rich guys like Warren Buffett. But Buffett is not rich enough and there simply are not enough Warren Buffetts out there to pay for all the spending Obama and his liberal socialist allies are demanding. Watch this video to see for yourself. (You can skip the first two and a half minutes.) Eventually, the tax man will come for you.

Obama Can Be Defeated!

In a new Fox News poll, Mitt Romney leads Barack Obama by two points -- 46%-to-44% -- among registered voters. And Romney is up four points -- 48%-to-44% -- in the latest Rasmussen poll of likely voters.

Given all the talk in recent days about a GOP "war on women," it's not surprising that the Fox poll found a significant gender gap. Among female voters, Obama leads Romney 49%-to-41%.

But that's not the biggest gender gap. Romney leads Obama 52%-to-38% among men! Of course, in our left-leaning media, that won't make the evening news.

In other findings, 68% of voters felt that government spending was out-of-control, while just 28% supported more deficit spending. And by a 56%-to-41% margin, voters felt that Obama was trying to intimidate the justices of the Supreme Court with his recent comments on the ObamaCare hearings

Reagan Staffer Admonishes Obama's Comparing Class Warfare to Reagan Tax Policy

The Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) issued a press release on April 13, 2012. Susan A. Carleson, Chairman and CEO of the ACRU and Chairman and President of the CCPP, released the following statement:

"Ronald Reagan understood human nature and that increasing tax rates drives people to find more and more ways to keep their money. By using legitimate tax loopholes unavailable to the average American, the very rich often escaped paying any taxes at all. Reagan thought that this was fundamentally wrong and he took steps as president to increase the fairness of the tax code by closing those loopholes and lowering tax rates across the board. The rest is history.

Ronald Reagan, who had a degree in economics and respect for the Constitution, stands in stark contrast to Barack Obama, who has neither."

The Buffett Rule: Obama's Community Organizer Understanding of Taxation

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published April 12, 2012 on Forbes.com

President Obama has a community organizer understanding of America's taxes. His rhetoric doesn't recognize that under our tax system the earnings from capital investment are taxed not once, but multiple times.

First, by the corporate income tax, then again by the individual income tax through the tax on dividends, then if you sell the capital investment, through the capital gains tax, then when you die, by the death tax. When he complains that the rich are not paying their fair share, he is just looking at the rate on any one of these taxes, and not considering all of the others. So he wants to raise them all for those making over $1 million per year to what he considers the tax rate paid by the middle class, which he calls the Buffett rule.

As a result, Obama would increase the top capital gains tax rate by 100%, increase the top tax rate on dividends by 100%, increase the top two income tax rates by nearly 20%, and increase the death tax rate by nearly 60%, while the corporate tax rate remains the highest in the industrialized world. The capital gains tax rate under the Buffett Rule would be the fourth highest among OECD nations, as the Wall Street Journal noted on Wednesday.

Government & Politics

Happy Income Redistribution Day

It seems that Barack Obama's small and insular circle of advisers has determined that his best shot at re-election lies in fomenting class warfare at every turn. Obama has always been a shameless class warrior, but he has ratcheted up the rhetoric of late, particularly on his beloved "Buffett Rule" -- and just in time for Income Redistribution Day.

Speaking about the Buffett Rule, which says that all millionaires must pay at least 30 percent in taxes, the president compared himself with a predecessor who called for "tax fairness" and reform. "That wild-eyed socialist tax-hiking class warrior," said Obama, "was Ronald Reagan. If it will help convince folks in Congress to make the right choice we could call it the Reagan Rule instead of the Buffett Rule." Even The Washington Post couldn't abide that disingenuous comparison, pointing out that "Reagan was barnstorming the country in an effort to reduce taxes for all Americans, mainly by cutting rates, simplifying the tax system and eliminating tax shelters that allowed some people to avoid paying any taxes at all. In other words, Reagan was pushing for a tax cut for everyone, not just an increase on a few."

On the other hand, Obama admitted that the Buffett Rule, which would raise no more than $5 billion a year and have virtually no affect on the deficit, is nothing more than a gimmick. "There are others who are saying: 'Well, this is just a gimmick. Just taxing millionaires and billionaires, just imposing the Buffett Rule, won't do enough to close the deficit.' Well, I agree." Indeed, he says it's about "fairness," not sound tax or economic policy. But his campaign website says, "The Buffett Rule would reduce the deficit." So, which is it?

Other examples of his classism include decrying those who would defund "investments" government makes in "education, research and health care" in order to "turn those into tax cuts, especially for the wealthy." Again, as if in the natural order it's the government's money. He lamented, "The gap between those at the very, very top and everybody else keeps growing wider and wider and wider and wider," which is both untrue and not the government's responsibility to fix even if it were. He denied, however, that government "investments" were some sort of "socialist dream."

Finally, he told a room full of wealthy donors, "If we're going to keep giving somebody like me or some of the people in this room tax breaks that we don't need and we can't afford, then one of two things happens: Either you've got to borrow more money to pay down a deeper deficit, or ... you've got to tell seniors to pay a little bit more for their Medicare. You've got to tell the college student, 'We're going to have to charge you higher interest rates on your student loan.' ... That's not right."

There's so much that's not right about that statement, but, in honor of Income Redistribution Day, here are a few things government "invests" in that are so crucial that Obama "can't afford" to let you keep your money. We already have to work until April 17 just to pay for the cost of government, which just happens to be the same day returns are due, but Obama needs more of our money for these special things.

Solar Trust of America, a solar energy company in California, was unable to meet its payment obligations for another Energy Department "green energy" loan, and instead filed for bankruptcy, leaving $2.1 billion for taxpayers to cover. Solyndra, of course, has been the administration's poster child, but this failed energy policy seems to lead, every week, to a new bankruptcy for an alternative energy producer on the federal dole. Undeterred, the administration announced that there is even more "green loan" money to be had.

According to Yahoo News, "American taxpayers own close to 200,000 vacant houses, and over the next year they will spend more than $40 million just to mow lawns at these properties. Taxpayers also foot the bills to paint walls, fix cabinets, plant flowers and more -- expenses that just last year, exceeded a half a billion dollars. ... [N]ow Americans are spending hundreds of millions more fixing up foreclosed homes to try and sell them." And here you thought all those home improvement projects were going to have to wait for a better economy.

In 2002, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) bought a carwash for $1.3 million, but he has missed a few payments and now owes $1.5 million on the property including unpaid interest and late fees. However, because the Small Business Administration (SBA) backed the loan, if it goes bad now, taxpayers will get to cover $1.1 million of that debt. Anybody need a car wash on the way to the home improvement store?

Finally, speaking of waste, the Obama administration committed $5 million to a project building a "biogas anaerobic digester," which will use cow manure to heat an ethanol plant. The project will create 15 permanent jobs, thereby overwhelming the job market with manure.

We have barely scratched the surface. While the government wastes our money by the trillions, it's never enough for Obama and Company. Meanwhile, often overlooked is the fact that all Congress has to do is nothing for a $500 billion tax hike to hit every taxpayer on Jan. 1, 2013. All this may be why Income Redistribution Day yields a far higher rate of car accidents.

Share your fondest experiences on Income Redistribution Day.

Hope 'n' Change: The ObamaCare Money Hole

A new report on ObamaCare spending released by Charles Blahous, the Republican trustee for Medicare and Social Security, finds that the massive new entitlement will add somewhere between $340 billion and $530 billion to the federal deficit by 2021. When the law was passed in 2010, its supporters maintained that it would cut deficits by $132 billion. In fact, Obama promised a Joint Session of Congress in 2009, "I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period." Technically, he was correct -- ObamaCare won't add one dime to the deficit; it will add trillions of them.

The discrepancy between the early cost-savings claims and what Blahous discovered lay in the original double-counting method used to estimate costs. ObamaCare supposedly provided $575 billion in Medicare savings to keep the entitlement from becoming insolvent by 2016, and allegedly securing its solvency up to 2029. However, the money saved was counted toward both supporting Medicare beneficiaries and expanding ObamaCare to the uninsured starting in 2014. In other words, the same money was pledged to two separate things, and though it looked good on paper to Democrats and their media sycophants, in reality it leaves a titanic funding gap.

The IRS won't have to worry about a lack of funding, though, as the Obama administration has given America's tax collector $500 million to implement ObamaCare. These funds will be used to hire enough IRS agents to ensure all Americans have exercised their patriotic responsibility -- to purchase health insurance or else. The $500 million comes out of a $1 billion general fund held by Health and Human Services for ObamaCare implementation. The fund, which has no public accounting, was established when the law passed and is already nearly empty. An upright administration might wait to see how the Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the law before investing so much money on enforcing it, but then again, an upright administration wouldn't have created the law in the first place. And one wonders: What do IRS agents have to do with health care?

Campaign Trail: Santorum Leaves the Race

Rick Santorum suspended his presidential campaign this week, thus making Mitt Romney the all-but-certain GOP nominee. Santorum's decision was based on a number of factors, most recently his youngest daughter's hospitalization due to Trisomy 18, a rare genetic disorder for which she has already beaten the odds. Santorum is a family man first, and our prayers go out for him and his family. He was also facing a potentially devastating blow in the upcoming primary in his home state of Pennsylvania. The contest was a must-win for him, but Romney's recent surge in the polls put that victory in doubt.

The RNC delegate count currently puts Romney at 573, half the magic 1,144 needed to secure the nomination. Since Santorum suspended his campaign rather than quitting outright, he can keep his 202 delegates, though it's uncertain what will ultimately happen to them. Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich both made appeals to Santorum supporters, each claiming to be the only true conservative still in the race. Paul has yet to win a single contest, but his dedicated followers will stick with the movement candidate to accomplish the goal of influence in the party. Gingrich likewise maintains that he will campaign to the end in an attempt to influence the party platform, even though he has admitted that Romney will likely win the nomination.

It's time for Republicans to stop self-destructing and rally around Romney. Bizarre though it may be, Barack Obama will be tough to beat, and he shouldn't be allowed to coast to re-election because his opponent comes from a fractured party.

This Week's 'Braying Jenny' Award

"[Mitt Romney's] wife has actually never worked a day in her life." --CNN pundit Hilary Rosen

First, we'll let Mrs. Romney respond for herself: "I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work." Indeed, if ever there was a "war on women," it's the Left's constant attacks on women who stay home to raise their children, especially with their implication that doing so isn't harder work than most other jobs. And Mrs. Romney did it while battling multiple sclerosis and breast cancer.

Rosen stubbornly stuck to her insulting assault, even bemoaning later that she was the victim of vicious attacks on Twitter. She also said, "It is a wonderful luxury to have the choice [to stay home]. But let's stipulate that it is NOT a choice that most women have in America today." How insulting to suggest that all women who stay home have the luxury of doing so when most families make great sacrifices to have a stay-at home Mom. She then denied that the White House is even using or is in any way to blame for the phrase "war on women." Ludicrous.

Keep digging, Hilary -- you're a big help to Romney's campaign. In fact, Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe Biden and David Axelrod all threw Rosen under the bus. She soon issued the standard politico non-apology apology, which only served to reiterate her argument and excoriate Republicans for their "phony war."

Ironically, Obama himself just said this week that, when his children were younger, Michelle worked outside the home because they didn't have "luxury for her not to work." According to CNS News, "In 2005, when Obama began serving in the U.S. Senate (and his daughters turned 4 and 7), he and his wife were earning a combined annual income of $479,062. Barack Obama was paid a salary of $162,100 by the U.S. taxpayers, and Michelle Obama was paid $316,962 to handle community affairs for the University of Chicago Medical Center." What was that about luxury?

Speaking of the Obama war on women, a new study finds that women employees in the White House make 18 percent less than male employees. Just saying.

From the Left: How to Use Voter and Donor Fraud to Win

Intrepid political rabble rouser James O'Keefe (he of ACORN video fame) and his Project Veritas group put District of Columbia voter registration rules to the test during the April 3 primary, somewhat humorously disproving Attorney General Eric Holder's claim that voter fraud is not a problem. In O'Keefe's new video, a young man went into Holder's polling place, claimed he was Holder and gave the polling worker Holder's address. The worker promptly offered the man Holder's ballot without asking for ID. When the man volunteered to produce ID, the worker advised that it wasn't necessary, which is true in DC and a number of states. The man didn't take or cast the ballot, having proved that voter fraud is possible.

Project Veritas has documented how easy voter fraud is on a number of occasions, demonstrating that dead people can vote in New Hampshire, and that people using celebrity names can vote in Minnesota. Both states have begun creating voter ID laws in response. Holder's Department of Justice stubbornly maintains that these laws are a "solution in search of a problem," and that there is no proof that voter fraud affects elections. To the contrary, Project Veritas has shown that in the absence of voter ID requirements, voter fraud is quite easy to commit. The DOJ's response to Holder's being a potential direct victim of voter fraud was to claim that this episode was "manufactured" and therefore proves nothing. In their view, if no one talks about the problem, then there won't be a problem.

The Obama campaign has been similarly unconcerned about the identity of its donors. In 2008, it was discovered that the Obama campaign's online donation system didn't match the names of donors to the credit or debit cards that were used to make the donations. A number of specious transactions occurred, including the use of a stolen identity to make a $174,800 donation. The Obama campaign maintained at the time that it was preferable to scan for fraud after the money was already received, but doing so would not prevent such activity. They also claimed that they didn't have the technical capability to put identity checks into the donation process, which must come as a surprise to anyone who has ever made an online financial transaction.

Secure transaction technology was in place long before the 2008 campaign, and the campaign had to weaken the security wall deliberately to make it possible for open donations. After the 2008 election, the Federal Elections Commission conducted an audit of the Obama campaign that amounted to nothing, but the Obama re-election team vowed to play by the book in the future anyway. So we can all rest easy. Right?

Unemployment Number Is Lower -- So Why Are More Out of Workforce?

The numbers may not lie, but they can be used to mislead. While the headlines crowed that the unemployment rate continued its slow decline, falling to 8.2 percent in March, this number obscures the truth. Unemployment figures result from the growing number of adults not in the workforce -- now at an all-time high of 88 million, or greater than the population of Germany. The Bureau of Labor Statistics pegged the number of jobs created in March as 120,000. That's a slower pace than the one established over the first two months of the year and not enough to meet the demand for new jobs needed just by our growing population. While the number outside the workforce is swelled by those who have retired, are in college, or the like, it also includes more and more able-bodied adults who simply can't find work.

Those who separate themselves from the job market aren't counted against the unemployment rate. While it's true that some jobs are being created, the bottom is falling out of the market more quickly -- only 64 percent of adults are participating in the workforce, the lowest figure in 30 years. This sleight-of-hand is one reason why Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is sponsoring the REAL Unemployment Calculation Act, a bill that would change the reporting procedures to include disaffected workers. If that number were used, March unemployment would be 9.6 percent instead of the reported 8.2 percent.

Regardless of the reason, those who have a personal unemployment rate of 100 percent are truly hurting in this job market. With a weak European economy and high oil prices contributing to America's sluggish job creation -- not to mention the current occupant of the Oval Office -- a significant segment of the population may find themselves jobless for a long time to come.

What do you think of the job market?

Regulatory Commissars: Drilling Down to Truth

The chickens have finally come home to roost on Barack Obama's drilling moratorium. This week the House Natural Resources Committee, tired of begging the Department of the Interior to justify its ban on drilling in the Gulf, issued a subpoena demanding documents relevant to that decision. The ban was issued after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, allegedly to protect the devastated Gulf region. Studies have shown, however, that the ban has done nothing of the sort. According to Greater New Orleans, Inc, 76 percent of area businesses have lost cash revenues and 41 percent are not showing a profit at all. Two years later, the moratorium continues to have negative effects, not only on the Gulf, but on businesses across the nation.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar responded to the subpoena by stating that he is "very comfortable" with the decision to impose the ban, and that the Committee is running a "distraction in the name of politics." This of course is code for "Not during an election year!" The House Committee Chair, Rep. Doc Hastings (R-WA), would like to know why no scientific, economic or technical analyses were conducted before the ban was imposed. Also curious, although Salazar claimed that the seven members of the National Academy of Engineering supported the ban, they claim that they did not support it and predicted that it would cause even worse economic consequences than the spill itself.

Clearly, Hastings and the others have broken the cardinal rule of the Obama regime: Thou shalt not question his authority. What the administration doesn't realize is that the American people are only going to put up with bullying, lies and secrecy for so long -- we just hope that they're fed up before November.

White House Walks With the Egyptians

While initially there was hope in some quarters that the 'Arab Spring' might usher a free and modern civilization into the Arab Middle East, that hope continues to spring leaks, as hope always does in the Middle East. Egypt, perhaps the most important Arab player rocked by the Arab Spring, is forging ahead with a presidential election this spring. Unfortunately, the choices for Egyptians range from bad to worse.

The Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, which already leads the Egyptian Parliament, initially pledged not to run a candidate for the presidency, fearing a backlash from the Egyptian military, which is still the real power in Egypt. However, with a very uncertain grip on parliamentary power, the MB decided to run Khairat al-Shater as their candidate. Some believe this move to be a response to fears that the military might use the election to seat a favorite son, Omar Suleiman, Hosni Mubarak's former intelligence chief, as a pliable president. Not to be outdone, the even more radical Salafists are running Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, a hard-line Islamist who wants to abolish the peace treaty with Israel and cites Iran as a successful model. Great choices.

Meanwhile, perhaps realizing that the MB will play at least some part in Egypt for the immediate future, White House officials last week met with MB members in Washington. When asked about this, the thin-skinned White House immediately went on the defensive, pointing out that Republican senators also met with Brotherhood representatives in recent months. A testy Jay Carney, White House press flack, said, "We believe that it is in the interest of the United States to engage with all parties that are committed to democratic principles, especially nonviolence." We're not sure what democratic principles the MB are committed to (Sharia, perhaps?), and we're highly skeptical of their nonviolence since terrorists fired a missile from Egypt into Israel last week. Sadly, the short-lived "Arab Spring" just confirms what realists have predicted for years about the dismal outlook for peace and freedom in the Middle East.

Warfront With Jihadistan: KSM Goes to Trial

Khalid Sheik Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi are headed to trial for their involvement in orchestrating the 9/11 attacks that killed 3,000 Americans in 2001. All five will be tried together before a military judge in Guantanamo Bay within the next month, and all five face the death penalty.

As noted by The Washington Post, "A military commission trial of the five men began under the Bush administration, but it was stopped by the Obama administration as part of its failed effort to close the detention center at Guantanamo. The five defendants were first charged in 2008, and the case was suspended after Obama came into office." Obama tried and failed to move the trial to New York City as a criminal case, but the public outcry and political opposition was so great that he was forced to retreat from his retreat. That KSM and his cohorts have yet to come to trial after more than 10 years is a travesty. To be sure, Obama is not fully to blame for that delay, but he bears responsibility for yet another three-plus years going by without justice.

The Trayvon Martin Saga Continues

Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old Florida teen who was killed Feb. 26, quickly became the newest martyr in the Left's never-ending effort to divide us by race. Special Prosecutor Angela Corey announced Wednesday that second-degree murder charges have been filed against George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who allegedly shot Martin during a struggle. Zimmerman is pleading not guilty, but if convicted he faces life in prison.

While the court date and prospect for conviction might assuage those who are howling for Zimmerman's scalp, the evidence for the charge appears to be weak. Beyond that, the whole situation has turned the suburban Florida town of Sanford into a circus. There are apparently inaccurate reports of neo-Nazi patrols in the streets of Sanford, as well as a student protest shutting down the town's police station. And there's no question professional race hustlers such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are creating a racial powder keg that likely influenced Corey's decision to forego a grand jury and file the second-degree murder charge. She may have feared that no indictment would be brought forth by a jury. We don't know if Zimmerman, who claims self-defense, is innocent, but isn't that supposed to be the presumption?

Meanwhile, other race hustlers around the country strutted their bigotry for all to see. After a primary victory to reclaim his seat on the District of Columbia Council, disgraced former mayor Marion Barry blamed Asians for running "dirty shops" in his neighborhood -- i.e., employing security measures such as window bars -- and ranted that "they ought to go." Elsewhere, Barack Obama's pastor of 20 years, the now-retired "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright, returned to the headlines by blasting the "ignorance and arrogance of white supremacy" driving world policy and calling for "restorative justice" against the greedy in a trio of sermons at a West Virginia church. He also claimed Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas "is worshiping some other God" because he hasn't fallen into line with Wright's core beliefs.

Americans need reminding that Barry, Wright, Jackson, Sharpton and all the other race hustlers are stomping on the grave of another black leader who sought an America no longer focused on skin color but the content of character.

Faith and Family: DOMA and Dumb Studies

In yet another attempt to dismantle marriage, a quintet of same-sex couples, each consisting of one U.S. citizen and one non-citizen, recently filed a lawsuit challenging the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), claiming that it is unduly antagonistic toward foreigners. While opposite-sex foreign spouses of American citizens can typically secure green cards -- signifying permanent legal residency -- same-sex spouses cannot because the federal government does not recognize same-sex unions as marriages. The group representing the couples believes this lawsuit will jump to the forefront of several already challenging DOMA. While the House of Representatives has appointed a legal group to defend DOMA, the president -- who is charged constitutionally with enforcing the laws as chief executive -- announced that his administration will no longer defend the Act. No shocker there, even though DOMA was passed by overwhelming majorities in both houses and signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Meanwhile, the millions of average Americans who oppose same-sex marriage may actually be closet homosexuals themselves. Or so suggests a study published in this month's Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. According to the study, those hostile to homosexuality (anyone who stands for traditional marriage is automatically labeled "hostile" to homosexuality) may harbor repressed same-sex attractions and may have grown up in an authoritarian household -- in other words, a household that teaches objective morality. Using this school of psychological analysis, Barack Obama is really a closet conservative.

Climate Change This Week: Polar Bears Far From Extinct

To hear Populist Potentate of Ecotheology Al Gore tell it, the day will soon come when the last Arctic polar bear drowns after the polar ice cap melts away, its native habitat lost forever. Yet reality has a way of biting charlatans like Gore in the rear. A Canadian study on polar bears along the frigid western shore of Hudson Bay showed their numbers are plentiful. "There is no doom and gloom," said Drikus Gissing, director of wildlife management for the remote Canadian territory of Nunavut. "The bear population is not in crisis as people believed." In fact, Gissing continued, it's likely the population may be at an all-time high.

Throwing more ice-cold water on Gore's theories is a recent assessment by the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Their measurements have indicated that the amount of ice floating in the Bering Sea off Alaska is the largest since records began 30 years ago. While the overall amount of Arctic Sea ice is 443,000 square kilometers below the average established by polar researchers, the Antarctic side is running a surplus of 452,000 square kilometers above average. Truly, this is an example of earth in the balance.

And Last...

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are congratulating themselves for the curve ball they threw the Miami Marlins. Yet we'd advise them not to pull a muscle patting themselves on the back. The Marlins sold bricks that could be engraved with various messages to be placed at their new stadium. PETA bought such a brick in order to engrave it with the following ingenious message: "Florida Is Still Hosting Incredible Night Games. Help Us Reach The Stars. Cheer Our Marlins!" That forms an acronym that directs people to the website Fishinghurts.com. PETA argues that fish are intelligent, feel pain and can die even if they are released after being caught, and the group wanted to make a statement through a sports team named after a fish. An encrypted message on an obscure brick -- boy, that'll show 'em!

Apr 14, 2012 01:41 pm

An internal government memo shows officials of the General Services Administration were aware of a spending problem months before the scandal burst into public view. The GSA's deputy administrator, Susan Brita, emailed agency officials last July that the inspector general found no substantive agenda at a 2010 conference at a Las Vegas resort. She said [...]

U.S. District Judge David Norton in South Carolina says the labor board exceeded its authority from Congress when it approved the poster requirement last year. The decision [...]

Needed: A Marxist-Style Analysis to Understand and Combat the Extreme Left's Hegemony

April 10, 2012  by Barry Rubin

Ironically, those opposing the current hegemonic ideas and political forces in the United States and Europe must develop a Marxist-style analysis of what has happened. To call the current dominant ideas and political currents socialist, Marxist, Communist, leftist, progressive, or liberal is not meaningful and conceals more than it reveals. The movement must be understood on its own terms in order to understand it and see how it differs from its predecessors.

The problem of revolutionary movements has been to find a group to be the motive force in fundamentally transforming society. Next, they must analyze which groups can be made into allies and which must be defeated.

The Marxist Analysis of the Social Battle

Marx and his followers identified the industrial working class as that revolutionary force. Here's how the idea appears in the 1848 Communist Manifesto:

Society as a whole is more and more splitting up into two great hostile camps, into two great classes directly facing each other - Bourgeoisie and Proletariat.

NumbersUSA This Issue: Your Continued Pressure on Dave Camp and House Ways & Means Committee Having an Effect

94,436 faxes! That's how many faxes NumbersUSA activists sent on Thursday alone!

Thanks to your great feedback, we learned yesterday that staff for the Ways & Means Committee are saying that they can't take action on H.R.2885, the Legal Workforce Act, because the Judiciary Committee (which passed the bill last September) hasn't filed a report. The Legal Workforce Act would require the use of E-Verify by all employers in all 50-states, freeing up millions of jobs held by illegal aliens for unemployed Americans.

NumbersUSA's Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks has learned, however, that both the Judiciary Committee and House of Representative's Parliamentarians say otherwise. The Parliamentarian is a non-partisan "judge" who interprets the House's rules for procedure.

According to Rosemary, both Parliamentarians have said that since the bill was referred to three separate committees, each with jurisdiction over different pieces of the bill, any one of the three committees can consider the legislation at any time. It's common practice for a bill to be assigned to multiple committees at the time of filing, and in most cases, all the committees work on the bill simultaneously. Why the House Ways & Means Committee has decided to sit on the bill and mislead our callers remains a mystery.

The bill was also referred to the Education and Workforce Committee. Rosemary has learned that that committee has agreed to sign off on the legislation as-is and without a final report from the Judiciary Committee's markup.

Needless to say, the Ways & Means Committee is definitely feeling the heat from your activism and our TV ads. They've stalled for 7 months on the Legal Workforce Act, and we're hearing from some of our activists already today that Camp's office is now saying they're working on the bill, and we've heard of other indications that this may be true.

If you haven't watched our new TV ad that's running throughout Michigan, you can take a look below.

Global High-Tech Firm Accused of Visa Fraud

infosysInformation Technology firm and high-tech industry powerhouse, Infosys, is being accused of bringing low-paid foreign wokers to the U.S. illegally, CBS News reported.

The allegations come from Jay Palmer, a principal consultant at Infosys. According to Palmer, Infosys engaged in systematic practice of visa fraud. Palmer's charges are the center of a federal probe.

Palmer said the first thing that caught his attention was an employee that had been in the U.S. from India several times before.

"He came up to me and he was literally in tears," Palmer told CBS News. "He told me he was over here illegally and he didn't wanna be here. He was worried that he would get caught."

'Uncle Obama' wins a driver's license for working illegally

An April 3 story in the Boston Herald, "Uncle Obama on the roads again," reported that Onyango Obama, the president's uncle and a Kenyan national who has been living and working illegally in the U.S. since 1963 - even after he was ordered deported in 1992 - "scored his limited [driver's] license yesterday from the Registry's Wilmington branch, after convincing a hearing officer that life without wheels would have posed an undue hardship on his livelihood as a liquor-store manager. Obama bolstered his case with a letter from his employer."

As always with the mainstream media, the Boston Herald didn't note the irony that Onyango Obama was working illegally. The Herald did not remind its readers that it had, in a previous story, described Obama's employer as being in "total shock" that Obama was working illegally. There was no follow-up quote from Obama's employer, who has apparently been allowed to keep his illegal hire instead of opening up the job to a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant worker.

Cancer Care Grand Rounds

A new study suggests higher U.S. oncology spending is 'worth it.'

A persistent health-care myth is that the U.S. system is uniquely wasteful versus the European countries that spend far less per patient as a result of tight government control. Only the establishment experts who spread this myth will be surprised, but new research shows American patients are often getting more value-better outcomes and longer lives-in return for those extra dollars.

More remarkable still, the news arrives via the policy journal Health Affairs, in a symposium on the cost and quality of U.S. cancer care. This is like the Vatican saying go ahead, worship the graven images and false idols.

Tomas Philipson of the University of Chicago and colleagues compare U.S. oncology spending over the period from 1983 to 1999 (the last year for which data are available) with that in 10 European Union countries. Costs were lower overall overseas and grew by 16%, while they grew by 49% in the U.S. Yet U.S. cancer mortality rates are lower, despite higher cancer rates, and "We found that the value of survival gains greatly outweighed the costs, which suggests that the costs of cancer care were indeed 'worth it,'" Mr. Philipson et al. write.

Throughout the entire period, U.S. cancer survival gains were larger, reaching 11.1 years over 1995 to 1999 against 9.3 years in the EU. The researchers then compared the U.S. and EU gains using conservative, commonly accepted measures for the value of a statistical life, less the cost of the care. The U.S. comes out ahead by $598 billion. In other words, though the U.S. spends more, patients and society benefit far more.

Over 1995-1999, each $100 increase in per capita cancer spending-approximately $20,000 per cancer patient-was associated with another 2.3 years of life for the average patient. The authors are also careful to show that these results reflect real patient outcomes. Another myth is that U.S. survival rates are an artifact of the time of diagnosis, a "lead-time bias" that comes from more screening and earlier cancer detection, but without any improvement in life expectancy. Mr. Philipson's method controls for such bias.

The U.S. system is relatively more expensive because diagnosis and treatment are much more intensive, and doctors tend to leverage the latest therapies and drugs against one of the world's leading killers. While U.S. health care could obviously be far more efficient, most of its dysfunctions are the result of government's perverse incentives.

The sophisticates who pine for the allegedly more enlightened forms of European rationing and price controls-for more perverse incentives-would do well to peruse the Health Affairs symposium. Mr. Philipson's paper suggests those are good ways to stop anticancer progress in its tracks, or reverse it altogether.

Funny, Joe Biden wasn't traveling the country touting how an unbelievable amount of stimulus money went to 'translocating' a single 'rare' bush in San Francisco - a bush that stood in the path of a $1b highway renovation project. It's a plant you can get at any home store for less than $20. WARNING: this story will make your head explode. View at your own risk.

Jay Carney: I know 3 Hillary Rosen's
Yesterday's White House press conference was quite a humiliating experience for Jay Carney, which is to be expected given he's forced to defend a Marxist president. Instead of simply condemning the attacks on Ann Romney, Carney tried to play defense & failed miserably.

Hillary Rosen's other dumb claim: Dems not referring to war on women
One small problem with this claim from Rosen -- nearly every Democrat and their mother is trying to claim the Republicans are the ones fabricating a 'war on women.' Even the DNC site is shilling products with "Stop The Republican War on Women" printed on them.  Glenn, Pat & Stu had a little too much fun mocking this statement on radio today.
