Limbaugh's Premiere Network pulled the show from PHT to move it to the new WKDN programming format.

Limbaugh will be on 106.9 with ~ 30kW which on VHF low-band FM is a very good power grant over Philadelphia piedmont terrain.  PHT with its alleged 50kW had only marginal signal here in NE Chester Co, for example, the result of their antenna pattern that excluded the west for some reason.  106.9 will not suffer that problem, so total EIB audience will probably increase - not to mention no more program delay or preemption for Philadelphia baseball programming.

Logan's Warning Exclusive: Muslims Rent out Sports Arena for MEGA Interfaith IslamoCON!!

April 9, 2012

The other day when I posted the "Logan's Warning Exclusive ~ the Pakistan Post ~ in on the Free Market Jihad ~ Photo Essay", I knew some people would be like "this is no big deal". Well it is a big deal as it is another inroad for Islam to seep into America, and the information that was in the paper turned out to be a very big deal! One of the most potent weapons that Muslims have is the IslamoCON, and the information obtained from the Pakistan Post shows us what might just be the mother of all IslamoCONs!

The recently formed Association of Muslims of North America (AMNA), has rented out the entire Nassau Coliseum on Sunday June 3rd at 11:00 AM, for the MEGA IslamoCON event, the "Peace for Humanity Conference". For those who do not know, the Nassau Coliseum is the home of the National Hockey League's NY Islanders. It is also a concert venue, which has a seating capacity of over 18,000! To make matters worse it is a free admission event!

Let's take a look at the AMNA:

Cardinal Dolan: Mormon Faith No Reason to Vote Against Romney

The archbishop says religious prejudice should not be part of the presidential campaign.

Updated: April 9, 2012

Cardinal Timothy Dolan said Sunday that Republican front-runner Mitt Romney's Mormon faith should not be an issue in the presidential campaign.

"There may be reasons not to vote for Mitt Romney as president of the United States," Dolan said during an appearance on CBS's Face the Nation. "That he's a Mormon cannot be one of them."

Dolan, who is archbishop of the New York diocese, later added: "I don't think Catholics would have any problem voting for a Mormon at all."

Romney has struggled to win support among conservative evangelicals during the GOP primaries - a big reason why the nomination race has lasted far longer than nearly anyone expected. Some analysts have suggested Romney's faith might partially explain why he's struggled with the group.

Dolan told host Bob Schieffer that he brought up Romney's religion a couple of months ago in a speech to the Jewish Anti-Defamation League when he was asked how the Jewish and Catholic communities could cooperate better.

He said he told the audience that "we Catholics and we Jews have felt the sting of the other side. And now, one of the ways we can cooperate is to see that religious prejudice, religious bigotry doesn't enter the campaign." Dolan said the remarks drew a standing ovation.

Citing Daughter's Health Problems Santorum Quits White House Race

Tuesday, 10 Apr 2012

By Martin Gould

Rick Santorum bowed to the inevitable on Tuesday and ended his bid for the White House, all but assuring that Mitt Romney will be the Republican candidate in November.

But he said the reason he was bowing out now had little to do with the almost certainty of defeat, but because of the worsening illness of his youngest daughter, 3-year-old Bella.

Bella, who suffers from a rare, life-threatening genetic condition, became ill on Friday and was hospitalized for the second time this year. That, said Santorum, is what convinced him and his wife, Karen, that the time had come to "suspend" his campaign.

"We had a difficult weekend. Good Friday was a little bit of a passion play for us, with our daughter, Bella, who is unfortunately getting very sick," Santorum said at a press conference in Gettysburg, Pa., as he announced his decision. "We ended up in the hospital all weekend."

He said Bella is now out of the hospital. "She is a fighter and she is doing really well," he said.

But he said the weekend crisis had made him and Karen "pause and think" about their role as parents.

Watch this short informative video preview of this movie which came out only yesterday and share it with others.  It has already been seen by over 18,000 people.  Within a very short time it will have been seen by millions!  After you see the preview, listen to what Dinesh has to say about Obama.  Please take the time to hear this and pass it on.

 The Daily Caller

George W. Bush to speak in Pennsylvania on GOP presidential primary day

Former President George W. Bush will deliver a speech in Pennsylvania on the day of the state's GOP presidential primary. Bush is the only prominent politician in his family that has not made an endorsement in the 2012 presidential race.

Bush will give the keynote address at the Plumstead Christian School's annual "Founders Forum" on the Calvary Church's campus in Souderton, according to the school's official website.

His father, former President George H. W. Bush is the most recent member of the Bush family to endorse former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for president.

Bush reportedly asked Romney if his son had endorsed him for president yet.

"I haven't met with President George W. Bush," Romney said. "We speak from time to time."

Barbara Bush, his wife, replied, "We'll talk about that."

Dr. Larry P. Arnn
Dr. Larry P. Arnn

Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"

In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.

That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."

Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.

I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!

And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.

Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:

"Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution"

This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!

I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!

Hillsdale College"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.

It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.

Classes listed in Blue have been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking on the link for each class below.

Hillsdale College

The U.S. Constitution

A Reader

Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.

Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader.   Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.

What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.

The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.

There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.

But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.

Lame rhetoric? I'm afraid not. If you do not understand the threat we face from 'peaceful' opportunists like CAIR, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/messages or contact me at bucksafa11@yahoo.com to schedule an Open the Koran presentation for you and your friends.

If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.

But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.

Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.

Thanks,

John Ryan

We're going to Washington, D.C. to stand with Israel

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

John Stossel - May 2, 2012

The Union League of Philadelphia
Luncheon: 12:00 - 1:30PM

John Stossel

John Stossel's new book, "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails-but Individuals Succeed," argues: "There ought not to be a law." Stossel explains how politicians promise to solve problems by passing laws, but the laws invariably make our problems worse.

After years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.

Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine. Without big government, our possibilities are limitless.

This event is co-sponsored by The Union League of Philadelphia

Sam Rohrer for US Senate from Pennsylvania

Former Pennsylvania State Representative Sam Rohrer is running for the US Senate.

America needs men and women in Congress, who exemplify Sam Rohrer's character, principles, commitment to our Constitution, abilities, and faith. In the Republican Primary on April 24, 2012 the voters of Pennsylvania have a special opportunity to elect a freedom-fighting American for the US Senate. That man is Sam Rohrer.

Your vote for Sam can help him win the PA Senate seat that is currently held by a Progressive Democrat whose actions and voting record are in lock-step with the failing Obama administration and Congressional Democrats.

Sam Rohrer is a common-sense, constitutionally-grounded, public servant who believes that America is absolutely the greatest nation in history. Sam believes in the ability of Americans to take responsibility for themselves and their families without the Government's intrusion into every aspect of our lives. He is a strong advocate of the rights detailed in the U.S. Constitution such as the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion. Sam also strongly supports that "... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." He believes that the intent of the 2nd Amendment is clear. Sam believes that this amendment guarantees a natural and individual right - not granted by the government nor to be compromised by the government. He believes that this right is necessary for free citizens to protect themselves, their families, and their property against all who may seek to inflict personal damage or harm.

During his terms as a leader in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and as a strongly fiscal conservative, he never voted for a tax increase. He believes that good jobs and a strong economy occur when government at all levels is limited and government does not compete with the private sector. He believes free enterprise and individual freedom are the greatest components of a strong economy and good jobs. He believes the current recession plaguing the American economy is primarily the result of failed and constitutionally unauthorized Congressional laws, Presidential policies and Executive orders. He believes that our economy can be turned around but only when Congress and the President commit themselves to less federal involvement, not more.

Mr. Rohrer believes that the 10th Amendment is one of the most important and most violated of the Bill of Rights. This amendment guarantees the proper relationship between the individual sovereign states and the federal government. It is the amendment that, when followed, ensures a limited federal governmentthat is authorized to perform core functions such as ensuring a sound currency and maintaining a strong military.

Sam is committed to vote against everything "big government" like ObamaCare. He has a business background and also served for 18 years in the PA General Assembly. He will not vote for tax increases and will bring to the Senate his commitment to continue to fight against all forms of political bribery including earmarks.

There are other candidates running for the PA Senate seat as Republicans but, two of them, were recently Democrats. The Republican-endorsed candidate, while one of these recent Democrats, voted for Barrack Obama in the 2010 Primary and voted for super liberal Democrat Joe Sestak against conservative Republican Senator Pat Toomey in the last PA Senate race. There is no one in this PA Senate race who has the level of character, principles, commitment, and is as Constitutionally-grounded as Sam Rohrer.

Join me in voting for Sam Rohrer for US Senate in the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

Patriots,

SAM ROHRER NEEDS YOUR HELP IN SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT HIS CANDIDACY FOR U.S. SENATE in the Republican Primary on April 24.

PLEASE PRINT the FAITH & FREEDOM LETTER attached addressed to Pastors and GIVE TO YOUR PASTOR (and other pastors in your area) THIS WEEK.   Let him know of Sam's Christian character and integrity in office.  Ask if there is any avenue by which he and/or you could let the church folks know of Sam (email, flyers in lobby, post a flyer on a bulletin board, church bulletin?).

I also gave our pastor the handout on the Life, Marriage, and Educaton policies Sam supported.  How about printing out enough copies of this handout for your Sunday School group and/or handing them out to your friends at your child's private school or in Bible study, Awanas, or prayer groups?

Know any homeschoolers?  The Michael Farris letter is specifically directed to homeschoolers, but also reminds us of Sam's  record as a Constitutionalist and the importance of this race and our involvement.

Please forward the message below with the attached flyers to all pro-life, people of faith and traditional values, Christian school parents, and homeschoolers you know.    Thank you for supporting this courageous champion of liberty,  Jaime

During his time in office, there was no greater champion of morality, the protection of life and the family, religious liberty, school choice, and homeschooling than SAM ROHRER.....Please read the attached letters of endorsement and information sheets and pass them on.  Also, watch the video clips in the links below to hear of Sam's stand on life, freedom, and faith in his own words.

Check out Sam's great website at www.rohrerforsenate.org for more information.  To support Sam's election effort, follow the links on his website to donate or volunteer your time (making calls from home, passing out literature, putting up signs, and/or passing out info at the polls).  Please spread the word to all your friends and family.

Voter ID bill is necessary

Linda A. Kerns practices law in Philadelphia and is cochair of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

Last week, the Philadelphia Bar Association sent a legislative action alert e-mail urging members to immediately call their legislators to oppose the voter ID bill that was being considered in the state Senate. The e-mail included a convenient "quickly generate a letter now" button. With the click of a mouse, a form letter full of Democratic talking points against voter ID and sprinkled with references to Philadelphia as the birthplace of democracy was spewed out.

Resources on 2nd & 10th Amendments for Rohrer outreach to Gun and Fish & Game clubs, gunshops, Constitutionalists

To: Patriots for Sam!

     Please pass this on.....

With this great endorsement from Gunowners Of America (see attachment), gun owners and outdoorsmen, with their natural bent toward constitutional rights, are almost a given for Sam  IF THEY HEAR ABOUT HIM - - MANY STILL HAVE NOT.  NOW IS THE TIME to find out through friends or local gun shops when the local gun and F&G clubs have their monthly meetings.

Schedule now a visit to clubs who still have one meeting before April 24th; or convince a friend who is a member to speak for Sam at the club if you can't be there; or ask the president if he would mention Sam and pass the flyers around - they are usually very willing.  The attached letter of endorsement from Gunowners Of America is very convincing, focusing on 2nd amendment and 10th amendment.  Also, I would give him your contact info for any of his members that want to volunteer for Sam.

Following are a couple of good video clips from Sam's 2010 speeches to forward to people who care about these issues.   Ask the Gun/Fish & Game club officers if you can forward informational emails on SAM to their email network, then send the GOA letter, along with these video links.  Watch these yourself: Sam's GREAT responses will convince any gunowner that  he fundamentally understands and believes in the Second Amendment and the clips are short.

And don't forget the gun shops in your area:  drop off a Sam flyer to post there (Legislative checklist flyer is good too)

Also, we want to encourage anyone to whom we give info to go to his website, www.rohrerforsenate.org where they can find links to sign up to get email updates from the campaign, to volunteer (we NEED poll workers), and to donate.  Jaime

The Heritage Foundation The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Patriot Action Network

Patriot Action Network

We are the Tea Party

On Thursday, our staff finalized the most explosive resource that Grassfire has ever published. It's called 69 Obama Lies. It's a Fantastic Resource for this election year!

I believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough "vetting" of Obama's actual words in print. And I know it is going to outrage the Left because we actually hold Obama accountable for what he said!

69 Obama Lies

Dear Patriot,

About six weeks ago, our staff set out with the goal of putting the "truth detector" to what Obama has actually said. What we realized is Obama has lied so pervasively and thoroughly that even our staff had forgotten many of his most outrageous fibs! That's when we realized we had to create a written record of the Obama Lies.

When we finished, we had created a 122-page, 20,000-word dossier that documents a disturbing cross-section of fibs, falsehoods, and fabrications that our President has used to win votes while implementing his radical agenda. Go here to see a larger image of the cover and the full list of 69 Obama Lies we have documented:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

+ + The Lies that got Obama elected...

69 Obama Lies is organized in six sections that cover everything from the lies Obama has told about himself (we call these "ObamaLies"), to his campaign lies, his lies about government and taxes, ObamaCare and domestic and foreign policy.

They are all here -- and footnoted so you will have complete documentation. We start with the ObamaLies -- his denial of Rev. Wright.... the "normalcy" of his church... the Bill Ayers lie... the ACORN lie... and Obama's "Brother's Keeper" lie which exposes his Marxist core.

Let's be clear -- it was these  "ObamaLies" along with his campaign lies that got Obama elected in the first place. Obama's ability to cloak his real beliefs and his real associations (with the willing help of the liberal media) kept his campaign moving forward.

But we don't stop there....

+ + Obama's "Big Government" Lies

69 Obama Lies also tracks the BIG LIE that Obama sold to the American people just after Inauguration Day -- that massive deficit spending would "create and save" jobs and restore the economy.

It was all a LIE. We know that now. But it is vitally important to have the facts laid out in an orderly fashion. That's precisely what 69 Obama Lies does. We expose the full range of Obama's Big Government lies...

The "Create Or Save Jobs" Lie...

The Stimulus Law is Working" Lie...

The "I'll Cut The Deficit" Lie...

The "Government Motors" Lie...

The "Cash for Clunkers" Lie...

The "Rich Pay Less In Taxes" Lie...

+ + Border Lies, ObamaCare Lies... Energy Lies...

69 Obama Lies literally covers every aspect of Obama's presidency -- from his lies about border security and immigration to his lies about gas prices and green jobs.

We saved a whole section for Obama's signature legislative "achievement" -- ObamaCare. We've identified a Baker's Dozen of fibs Obama told just to get ObamaCare passed.

And please note that each of the 69 Obama Lies is like a mini research report -- clearly laying out the specific Obama lie and fully documenting our sources.

You get the actual words of Obama set against the truth -- the LIE next to the reality check. Go here to request your copies and see the complete list of 69 Lies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

+ + 69 Obama Lies Begins Shipping In Two Weeks!

If you can help Grassfire with a contribution of ANY AMOUNT (even a few dollars to cover printing and shipping), we'll send you TWO COPIES of "69 Obama Lies" -- one to keep and one to share with a friend.

We have asked the printer to rush the first printing of 69 Obama Lies so we can get this resource into our team members' hands as quickly as possible.

As a result, we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23.

In order to be included in our first shipment, please let me
hear from you as soon as
possible. Go here to request your two copies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

I truly believe 69 Obama Lies is the most thorough and most important resource Grassfire has ever created. And I want to put it in the hands of every Grassfire team member.

Please take a moment to order your two copies of 69 Obama Lies today, and thanks for the stand you are taking.

Steve Elliott

Grassfire Nation

P.S. As I write, the manuscript is going to the printer and we expect to begin shipping 69 Obama Lies the week of April 23. The first print run of our last resource quickly sold out.  Please go here to see the complete list of 69 Obama Lies and to order your copies:

http://www.grassfire.com/24098/offer.asp?Ref_ID=600013

Patriots, this booklet will assist in setting the record straight with swing voters, moderates, and even Democrats! This is the best resource I have seen to prove the lies from Obama - out of his own mouth- versus the truth or facts. This is the resource of this 2012 Presidential election year.

Want Obama out? Then obtain multiple copies of this booklet and share with friends, neighbors, co-workers, church family, and your tea party. To win we must be equipped! This is the best weapon for your arsenal of resources to beat Obama!

Five Republicans battle in April primary to oppose Sen. Casey in fall

April 8, 2012 4:44 pm
1/7
U.S. Senator Bob Casey

WASHINGTON -- Everyone, it seems, wants Bob Casey's job.

Who wouldn't? The U.S. senator from Pennsylvania has one of Washington's most sought-after offices outside the White House.

His third-floor space in the Russell Senate Office Building was once occupied by the young Sen. John F. Kennedy. Four 8-by-10 shots on the wall show that Mr. Kennedy's desk was in the spot now reserved for office visitors who perch on a yellow couch to meet with Mr. Casey.

The office space, though, doesn't go with the job. Offices are assigned by seniority. Mr. Casey got the coveted spot when its prior occupant, Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., took over Joe Biden's office when the Delaware senator became vice president.

That's something Steve Welch, Tom Smith, Sam Rohrer, Marc Scaringi, David Christian and Joe Vodvarka ought to know.

The five Republicans and one Democrat -- Mr. Vodvarka -- are on the ballot to unseat the one-term U.S. senator from Scranton. John Kensinger wants a shot, too. The Bedford County pharmacist is running as a write-in candidate after failing to collect enough signatures to appear on the Republican primary ballot.

Recent polls show no clear frontrunner in the Republican contest, but indicate that Mr. Casey would beat any of them if the general election were held today.

GOT VOTER FRAUD?

No senior government official is more outspoken in his opposition to Voter ID laws or their stated belief that voter fraud doesn't exist than the current Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder.

Which means no other senior government official has been more wrong.

Enter James O'Keefe of Project Veritas, which exposed Eric Holder's willful negligence in an explosive new video showing an unidentified man requesting - and receiving - Holder's own paper ballot in last week's District of Columbia primary ... without showing any form of identification.  You have to see it to believe for yourself:

Holder's Corrupt Opposition to Voter ID Laws

By David Limbaugh

4/10/2012

Can anyone think of an innocuous reason that President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder oppose state voter ID laws?

Obama and Holder appear to view almost everything through the prism of race or, at the very least, use race as an excuse to justify otherwise very dubious policies, from immigration enforcement to voter intimidation actions to strong-arming banks to make loans via allegations of racism.

In December, along these lines, Holder criticized redistricting maps that had been drawn by the Texas Legislature and used the opportunity to call for an aggressive federal review of voter identification laws in not just Texas but other states.

But what does all this have to do with voter ID laws? Well, Republicans have been engaged in lobbying for state voter ID laws throughout the nation as an effort to enhance fair and lawful elections and prevent voter fraud. These laws are simple and transparent; they would require voters to present a government-issued form of identification as a condition to voting.

Predictably, Democrats -- led by Obama and Holder -- claim that the move is a GOP ruse to suppress minority voting. Holder called on the parties "to resist the temptation to suppress certain votes in the hope of attaining electoral success and, instead, achieve success by appealing to more voters."

RedState

RedState Morning Briefing

For April 11, 2012

1. It Was Inevitable. Now Bring on President Both Ways

It was inevitable.

Mitt Romney's campaign has used a money advantage to shut out the competition. As I said when he won Ohio, Romney will be the nominee.

The way forward for Romney depends on the economy. For the longest time I did not think he had much of a shot against the President, but as I've said several times recently, the economy seems to be struggling, which gives Romney an opening.

Between a struggling economy and a President who wants to have it both ways in rhetoric and in practice wants to side with those hostile to the idea of American exceptionalism, Romney has an opening if he'll aggressively take it.

If I may be so bold, I think the greatest thing Karl Rove or Reince Priebus or Mitt Romney or any outside group could do right now is introduce the American Public to what I've started doing on my radio show: recounting the amazing adventures of President Both Ways.

As Rory Cooper noted on Twitter, on August 26, 2011, President Both Ways claimed the Buffett Rule would "stabilize our debt and deficits for the next decade."

And now? President Both Ways claims, "No one ever suggested that implementing Buffett Rule would contribute in large measure to reducing the deficit."

President Both Ways strikes again.

2. The Left, the Media and Plans to Destroy Scott Walker

Labor union bosses, trial lawyers and the Wisconsin Democrats have been out to end the political career of Governor Scott Walker since the moment he took office. His move to reform government employee union collective bargaining rights was a public relations spark that ignited a partisan heap of half-truths and electoral grudges. To date, Scott Walker and his reforms are still standing (and working!) in Wisconsin much to the chagrin of the Left.

Leading up to the June recall election in which Walker will defend his governorship, Democrats and Big Labor aren't talking about collective bargaining reforms. According to an internal Democrat Party of Wisconsin memo reported on by Mother Jones magazine, Wisconsin Democrats are hoping to oust Walker by in part focusing heavily on what is known as the John Doe investigation.

In Wisconsin, prosecutors may launch secretive probes (hence the name "John Doe") into criminal activities. John Chisholm, the Democrat District Attorney for Milwaukee County, has for 2 years now been running a John Doe investigation into former county government employees who held jobs while Walker was Milwaukee County Executive.

Interestingly enough, it was Walker who called for the probe to out suspected fraud.

3. Left not all that interested in free speech or tolerance

I have worked in or around the Ohio Statehouse for a decade or more. I have seen a great many protests, counter-protests and events involving all kinds of issues and groups. But when I stopped by the Statehouse today to check out the Values Bus Tour event put on by Heritage Foundation and Family Research Council I experienced something I don't believe I had ever witnessed. A counter-protest effectively shutting down an event.

4. Why Ozzie Matters

Ozzie Guillén, manager of the newly re-minted Miami Marlins, has earned himself a five-game suspension by declaring his affection for Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in Time magazine:

"I love Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that son of a bitch is still there."

Many entities survive through unsavory methods-cockroaches and kudzu vines spring to mind. But Guillén wasn't praising some neutral long-lived thing, he was admiring the machismo of the man who has spent more than six decades trampling on the freedoms of his fellow ballplayers.

Argue fervently for the passing of national laws enforcing the wearing of tin foil hats as a precaution against the possibility of aliens from outer space trying to control our minds. Argue too for a massive government spending program to build mighty death lasers at strategic points around the United States, so as to stave off possible alien invasion and/or asteroid strikes. April 10, 2012     Belgium didn't think this would happen to them

National conference info and early bird registration HERE

Yesterday we emailed you about the ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America) sharia disinformation campaign. ICNA is a Muslim Brotherhood-connected organization whose goal is restoring the Islamic caliphate and imposing sharia law across the world.

When nations and cultures ignore the early warning signs of the infiltration of radical Islam, they pay a very dear price. The UK has 85 sharia courts. France has over 750 "no go zones," Muslim enclaves where even French police don't enter.

Now the latest-a video of what is happening in Belgium.

Welcome To Belgistan -- The New Muslim Capital Of Europe
Welcome To Belgistan -- The New Muslim Capital Of Europe

We're sure most people in Belgium never believed this could happen in their country. The path of least resistance for us Americans is to assume this could never happen here. But it already is. Just ask the Pennsylvania man who dressed up as a "zombie Mohammed" in a Halloween parade and was assaulted by a Muslim. To add insult to injury, a judge lectured the man who marched in the parade-calling him insensitive-and, astonishingly, dismissed the charges against the Muslim.

Someone must repeatedly sound the warning for America. That is the mission of ACT! for America. What can you do today to be part of our "early warning system?"

  • Join us at our National Conference. Register by April 20th and you'll receive our "early bird" benefits, including a chance to win free registration and $250 toward your travel expenses! For more information and how to register click here.
  • View and pass the word about the textbook report recently released by our "sister" organization, ACT! for America Education.
  • Make a contribution and receive one of our important resources as our thank you. For example, for a $35 contribution we will send you a DVD with over three hours of presentations on the Muslim Brotherhood.
  • Start or get involved in a local chapter.

In Green We Trust
Feral children deprived of language develop their own forms of communication and it may be that societies deprived of religion develop their own belief systems. Religion is at its core a means of explaining the world and it becomes absurdly easy for science to slip into the habits of religion.

To break down religion to its essence is to say that there is a creative force which has given us life and that the proper way to live is to be in harmony with this creative force. Sinfulness consists of acts which disrupt the life-giving activity of the creative force creating a disharmony which manifests itself in destructive events around us. These destructive events may build to an apocalyptic crescendo that will separate the faithful from the infidels and transform our way of life to a purely harmonious one.

While conventional religion has been on the decline in the modern world, there is a devoutly held belief system which encompasses all these qualities. It is a faith propounded from newstands and newscasts, its proclamations of doom and grace are all around us. It is the green faith.

When all supernatural and unseen entities are banished from the pseudo-rational mind, only one force remains as the source of all life. Earth. Or Gaia, the mother of all life, whose eponymous hypothesis postulated that the planet was a single organism. In the absence of all deities, the planet itself became the deity. Its natural harmony is the way and those who live artificial lives are the sinners.

Harmony with the planet's creative force is the mark of good people. Those striving to live natural lives. The jet setting nomads who recognize no border or nationality, whose trust fund investments are as global as their enthusiasm about the brotherhood of man. On the other is the farmer who struggles to wrest the natural world to his own ends, the builder who is always creating new structures and products.

Righteousness is measured by the size of one's "carbon footprint", a vow of technological poverty, usually sworn by the well-off on behalf of the badly off who unlike them are required to live by it. The ideal is to live as harmoniously with the mother goddess as possible, either through deprivation or complex schemes for juggling resources or carbon credits. These acts of outward piety serve as sacrifices by the faithful to the planet.

The mother goddess is in pain, we are told, crying out because we are harming her, raising temperatures, flooding islands and bringing storms. If we do not relent, she will destroy us. It is up to the faithful who have the special knowledge and who are attuned to her plight, to save mankind from the apocalypse that we have brought on ourselves with our sinful ways.

The EPA in the United States acts as the religious police, protecting the mother-goddess from the blasphemous abuses of the infidels. It is above the law and evidence because it is a religious body and not subject to such secular concerns. But its minions are only the enforcers of a vast international community of faith which is convinced that the doom of mankind is at hand and spends every minute calculating the day when the oceans will rise up and sweep man off the earth for his sins against the planet.

The First Year of the Egyptian Revolution: Assessment and Predictions   Apr 09, 2012 11:54 pm

If Zimmerman Is White -- Then So Is Obama!   Apr 09, 2012 03:22 pm

You know, this racist/racism stuff is really getting difficult to understand. Is George Zimmerman a white man or an Hispanic man? Is President Obama a white man or a black man?

The media made a point of telling us that Mr. Zimmerman was a "WHITE Hispanic. OK. Then I suppose that makes our President, Mr. Obama, a WHITE African American, right? We are told BOTH men are half white.

The obvious question is: Which half gets top billing? And who, exactly, gets to decide?

I seem to recall that, sometime ago, the government decided that for the census, Americans got to decide to which race they belonged. I checked off "Other." Heck, I don't REALLY know what I am! Neither do most people alive in America today.

I present as a descendant of northern European ancestry. I traced my family back to the eleventh century and we were in what is today called The Netherlands. Then on to Germany, then Belgium, then France, then England, then Ireland, and on to America where we settled -- and some of the family closest to me married American Indian wives -- and about two generations later, I showed up.

I have no idea of the hanky-panky that went on between The Netherlands and South Carolina! But, I dare say, being the lusty family that history teaches we were, I expect there was a lot.

All this migration (Read -- international hanky-panky!) does not make me unique in America -- not by a long shot. In fact, it makes me about average.

We are a mixed blood lot, we Americans. Of all the tribes of earth we are, I suspect, the most difficult to label -- as far as race is concerned. Heck, we don't even know how to label each other, anymore! Is he a White Hispanic man, or a Hispanic White man. Is our president a White Black man or a Black White man? See what I mean? It's nuts!

I have no clue, none, zip, nada as to why God decided there should be more than one race on planet earth. No clue. But there MUST have been a reason. We are just not intelligent enough to figure it out.

Racism is a fact of life on planet earth. There is no escaping it. Anyone who believes it can be overcome is extremely naive, disingenuous, or just plain dumb.

Remember when we Americans elected our first President of color? The media went nuts referring to something they called "post-racism" in America. Fat chance.

Needless to say, it wasn't. It didn't happen. It hasn't happened yet, and frankly, I don't think it ever will happen.

We are what we are. Try as we might, we simply cannot change our wiring. Oh, we can LEARN to tolerate each other, to, "get along," if you will, but, hey, the schematic for "Human Being," Model 0000000000001, somewhere out there in the celestial tech shop, has not been upgraded. We ARE what we are.

Now, all this is not to say that we cannot live together in some degree of harmony. We can, and we have. But my point is, we are deliberately blind to the elephant in the room. We ARE different ... period.

Seems to me we would be better off, all of us, if we simply allowed ourselves to be honest and stop dancing about the truth -- which is -- that we are all, to some degree, racists. If you are not, then, you are not a human being.

Lord knows, you cannot legislate racism away. America tried that. It hasn't worked. In my less than humble opinion, it never will work.

As I write this, it is Sunday morning. America is more segregated on Sundays than any other day of the week. Why? To our horror, we find that different races tend to worship together, segregated from all other races. How horrible! How HUMAN!

Our public schools are integrated in name only. Walk into any public school cafeteria at lunchtime and you will see black kids in a group, by themselves, and white kids in a group, by themselves. Visit a prison and you will find white groups of prisoners and black groups of prisoners. The same thing holds true for street gangs (even more so, actually).

Our large cities have black neighborhoods and white neighborhoods broken down even more by nation-of-origin communities. Small towns are less likely to be broken down by nation-of-origin neighborhoods, but certainly by black and white neighborhoods. Again -- we are what we are.

Now, I know these comments are not going to sit well with a LOT of folks. That's understandable. It is not politically correct to speak honestly, anymore, about anything, but especially about racism. I would ask you to remember -- this is ONLY my opinion.

Racism is not going away. It is, in my opinion, a part of the human condition. We must accept it, learn to deal with it (when it rears it's ugly head), then move on. We have learned to deal with our inevitable death. Mortality on this planet is 100%. We live with that knowledge everyday while, at the same time, being industrious, creative, and to some degree -- happy.

Having said all the above, there is one thing I find absolutely despicable. That is when one side or the other of America's political spectrum USES race/racism to further their own agenda. We see that currently in the controversy in that small town in Florida. Insertion of politics and media has precluded a satisfactory ending for everyone involved.

So. How do we rid ourselves of racism? Honestly, I don't think that is possible, now, or in the future. In fact, I think it is the wrong question. There may not even BE a "right" question. It may boil down to humanity finding a "work around" solution much the same as we do to computer problems that are unsolvable.

We are what we are: small, prejudiced, bigoted, envious, ... HUMAN. Deal with it.

U.S. Says 'No' to Peres on Pollard

"Our position hasn't changed," writes Obama's National Security Council spokesman.
By Gil Ronen
First Publish: 4/10/2012

"Our position hasn't changed" regarding Jonathan Pollard, U.S. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said in an email to Yahoo News reported Tuesday.

Asked whether the White House had received President Shimon Peres's written plea to President Barack Obama to grant Pollard clemency, Vietor said he was not sure "but the position is the same."

Peres sent an urgent personal request Monday to Obama asking for Pollard to be pardoned on humanitarian grounds.

Peres also met with Esther Pollard on Sunday. According to his office, Peres listened carefully as she outlined her husband's deteriorating condition and implored the President to use all his influence as quickly as possible to ensure that Pollard - who was rushed to a hospital last Friday - is not sent back to prison.

Spanish company will count American votes overseas in November

Apr 10, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins

by Doug Book,  staff writer

When the Spanish, online voting company SKYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SKYTL in January supplies the election software which records, counts and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states-900 total jurisdictions-across the nation.

As the largest election results reporting company in the US, SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them "...get 'first look' at results and the ability to immediately and privately examine vote details throughout the USA."   In short, "this redirects results ...to a centralized privately held server which is not just for Ohio, but national; not just USA-based, but global." (1)

And although the votes will be cast ... Continue Reading:Spanish company will count American votes overseas in November

American Minute April 9

Apr 09, 2012 06:13 pm | Coach Collins

By Bill Federer, staff writer

Wilmer McLean's farm in Manassas Junction, Virginia, was the location of the First Battle of Bull Run.
A Union shell exploded in his kitchen. Wilmer McLean moved to get away from the conflict, yet almost four years later his new home, near Appomattox Court House, Virginia, was the agreed location for General Robert E. Lee to surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant on APRIL 9, 1865.
Ken Burn's documentary film of the Civil War stated that the war began in Wilmer McLean's front yard and ended in his front parlor.
The Civil War resulted in approximately 258,000 Confederate deaths and 360,000 Union deaths.
General Lee took off his sword and handed it to General Grant, and Grant handed it back.
The next day, General Lee issued his final order:
"After four years of arduous service, marked by unsurpassed courage and fortitude...
I have determined to avoid ... Continue Reading:American Minute April 9

The "Trayvon was murdered" scam will make Obama unelectable as the "Gangsta" In Chief

Apr 09, 2012 02:13 pm | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

In its search for an issue to hide Obama's record as a failed president, the Left always seems to find a rake in the tall grass to step on. When they do it comes up to hit them in the face.  A case in point is the ridiculous circus known as "Occupy Wall Street" (OWS) that morphed into "Occupy" anywhere Democrats are in charge (so they won't get kicked out).

Ultimately the OWS movement did nothing but generate embarrassing questions about why Democrats had Super Glued themselves to a band of filthy criminals. As evidenced by the hundreds of arrests made in them , OWS camps became safe houses for murderers, rapists, child molesters, thieves and drug dealers.

Not surprisingly when the criminals outnumbered the few legitimate protesters the camps shut down. The OWS camps did not shut down because of the weather as the media wants us to believe; (we had ... Study: Obama's Health Care Law Would Raise Deficit

Apr 10, 2012 12:51 pm

Reigniting a debate about the bottom line for President Barack Obama's health care law, a leading conservative economist estimates in a study to be released Tuesday that the overhaul will add at least $340 billion to the deficit, not reduce it. Charles Blahous, who serves as public trustee overseeing Medicare and Social Security finances, [...]

EPA: Fracking Has Not Contaminated Water In Pennsylvania

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is providing further evidence that hydraulic fracturing did not contaminate groundwater in a small Pennsylvania town where some residents believe natural gas drilling fouled their domestic wells. Twenty more homes in Dimock were tested by EPA investigators, and the results upheld findings released earlier in March according to which the [...]

Thoughts On the End of the GOP Presidential Primary Race

Posted: 10 Apr 2012 11:58 AM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

With Rick Santorum's announcement that he is suspending his campaign, the 2012 Republican presidential nomination process effectively comes to an end. That Mitt Romney came out on top is certainly no upset; as we noted as early as two years ago, and again here and elsewhere, the party has a strong tradition of nominating the next-in-line candidate, and this year, Romney had the best claim to that role.

That there was, and continues to be, a strong anyone-but-Romney faction in the party is likewise no surprise. In my opinion, Romney was a much more skilled candidate in 2012 than in 2008. Nevertheless, many conservatives remain skeptical of Romney for a variety of reasons, some good (Romneycare) and some not so good (hostility toward his Mormon faith). Thus, we saw the meteoric rise, and equally abrupt fall, of one non-Romney conservative after another: Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and finally Rick Santorum.

That phase of the political season is over, and it is probably just as well. It is time to get on to the main event, beating Barack Obama. The republic badly needs a new president, and I think that if the 2011-2012 primary season showed anything, it was that, of the candidates in the race, Romney is best suited to win the general election. I think he will do so. As president, Romney will no doubt disappoint conservatives at times. Every president does; many of our readers are probably too young to remember that conservative Republicans were sometimes in open rebellion against the Reagan administration. But a Romney administration would be a vast and urgently needed improvement over a second Obama term, and conservatives should set to work to do everything possible to make it happen.

What Is It With Social Scientists and Conservatives?

Posted: 10 Apr 2012 10:26 AM PDT

(Steven Hayward)

There seems to be flurry of efforts right now in the social science and pseudo-social science community (is that a distinction without a difference?-stay tuned till the end of this post) to provide evidence that conservatives are stupid, mentally ill, genetically disfavored, hopelessly irrational, and overweight.  (Okay, I made the last one up, but I'm sure we'll see a study any day now.)

Start with the study that says drunk people are more conservative: "Do you feel more conservative when you are drinking? If so, that's because you are 'cognitively impaired' according to a new study by psychologist Scott Eidelman at the University of Arkansas."  Yeah, that's sure my experience with drunk chicks in bars-they're always much more conservative and inhibited.  Ditto for frat boys: I know I've seen lots of frat boys head out to walk precincts for Rick Santorum after every kegger.

Then there's this study reported in the Puffington Host, saying conservatives display "low effort" thinking, whatever that is.  Perhaps it means we switch the channel when CNN is on?  That takes low effort from me.  Or this one in Time magazine, claiming conservatives and liberals can't feel each other's pain.  I think it was written by Bill Clinton writing under a pseudonym.

Would you trust this man?

Then there's the survey showing that trust for science among conservatives has plummeted over the last couple of decades.  As Useless News and World Distort US News and World Report puts it "Just 35 percent of conservatives said they had a "great deal of trust in science" in 2010, a 28 percent decline since 1974, when 48 percent of conservatives-about the same percentage as liberals-trusted science."   See, we told 'ya conservatives were itching to stage Scopes trials all over again.   One The author of the study, Gordon Gauchat, blames-I'm not making this up-Fox News.  Really.

As Glenn Reynolds pointed out, the reporting on this study ain't exactly accurate:

Gauchat's paper was based on annual responses in the General Social Survey, which asks people: "I am going to name some institutions in this country. As far as the people running these institutions are concerned, would you say you have a great deal of confidence, only some confidence, or hardly any confidence at all in them?" One institution mentioned was "the scientific community."

So when fewer people answered "a great deal" and more answered "hardly any" with regard to "the scientific community," they were demonstrating more skepticism not toward science but toward the people running scientific institutions.

Now why would anybody come to that conclusion?  Maybe the scientific community has allowed itself to become too politicized?  And where would anyone get such an idea?  Maybe from Harvard geneticist Richard Lewontin, who wrote in the New York Review of Books in 2004: "Most scientists are, at a minimum, liberals, although it is by no means obvious why this should be so. Despite the fact that all of the molecular biologists of my acquaintance are shareholders in or advisers to biotechnology firms, the chief political controversy in the scientific community seems to be whether it is wise to vote for Ralph Nader this time."

The scientific establishment might have broader trust if it didn't make itself an adjunct to the power-grabbing left.  They might want to heed the warning of MIT's Kerry Emanuel, a global warming believer who, incidentally, came out of the closet as a Republican a couple years back:

Scientists are most effective when they provide sound, impartial advice, but their reputation for impartiality is severely compromised by the shocking lack of political diversity among American academics, who suffer from the kind of group-think that develops in cloistered cultures. Until this profound and well-documented intellectual homogeneity changes, scientists will be suspected of constituting a leftist think tank.

Now, in case you're wondering-yes, I shall get around to a fulsome evaluation of Jonathan Haidt's challenging new book, The Righteous Mind, in due course.  I'm going to be commenting on a panel with Haidt on May 11 in Washington. In the meantime, I'll just direct your attention to a good recent article in the New York Times that comments on the problem of "physics envy" in the social sciences, and how it debilitates social science:

Unfortunately, the belief that every theory must have its empirical support (and vice versa) now constrains the kinds of social science projects that are undertaken, alters the trajectory of academic careers and drives graduate training. Rather than attempt to imitate the hard sciences, social scientists would be better off doing what they do best: thinking deeply about what prompts human beings to behave the way they do.

Obama's Team Is Overconfident? Really?

Posted: 10 Apr 2012 08:30 AM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

Byron York highlights a curious phenomenon: President Obama's re-election team is contemptuous of Mitt Romney and overconfident about Obama's chances in November:

"To say that the [Obama] campaign doesn't fear Romney is an understatement - he's viewed as almost a joke," the Web publication BuzzFeed reported this week in an inside look at Obama's Chicago headquarters. As evidence of how hilarious the campaign finds Romney, BuzzFeed reported, Obama staffers have named their building's elevators after cars in reference to the planned car elevator in Romney's California home.

When they're not joking about car elevators, some Obama staffers are reportedly obsessing over a nearly 30-year-old story about Romney's dog. ...

The Romney campaign is fully aware of the derision directed at Romney by the Obama camp. They don't know what the president himself thinks, but they certainly believe the Obama campaign has no real respect for Romney, either as a politician or a man. But they're not particularly troubled by it, because they suspect the end result will be that the Obama campaign will habitually underestimate Romney.

Overconfidence on the part of Obama's team strikes me as little short of bizarre. The polls certainly don't warrant it. There are, of course, bad polls like this one, which we will continue to see right up to election day. But meaningful polls-those with reasonable controls that sample likely voters-show that President Obama is in trouble. Today's Rasmussen Survey includes a number of items that make the point. Obama is currently at -17 in Rasmussen's Approval Index, the difference between the number of likely voters who strongly approve of his performance and those who strongly disapprove. He has no hope of getting anywhere near parity in this key index between now and November:

And that's not all: Obama and Romney are currently in a dead heat among likely voters, 45%-45%. By five points, the GOP leads the generic Congressional preference among likely voters, 45%-40%. Support for investing in fossil fuels rather than "green" fuels is at an all-time high, and, by 44%-17%, voters think the Obama EPA hurts the economy. So Obama's standing with voters is vulnerable at best.

Moreover, Obama's re-election campaign faces two intractable problems: One, he has no record on which to run, a fact that the Democrats implicitly admit by fabricating one hysterical distraction after another. Two, he has no agenda for his second term, as Byron notes:

[E]ven though the president is well into his bid for re-election, he doesn't have much of an agenda for a second term.

Higher taxes? More green energy? Something on immigration? Obama has so little to talk about in terms of serious policy proposals that he and his Democratic allies are devoting a lot of energy to a new drive for the Buffett Rule, the proposal that taxpayers who make more than $1 million a year pay their "fair share" - at least 30 percent - in federal income taxes. It's not a terrible idea, and the world wouldn't end if it were enacted. It's just not very significant.

That is an understatement, as we noted here.

What of the Obama staffers' contempt for Mitt Romney? The sentiment is, I think, seriously misplaced. Romney has moved steadily and methodically toward the Republican nomination, and I think he will do the same thing in the general election. He is, in my view, a good candidate, if not a great one. He is reminiscent of Ronald Reagan in that respect. In 1980, the Democrats desperately hoped the Republicans would nominate Reagan, on the theory that he would be a weaker candidate than George H. W. Bush. They were probably right about that. Reagan was a good candidate, but not a great one. He was, however, a great president, and I think Romney likewise has the potential to be a better president than presidential candidate. Be that as it may, I think he will, in any event, be a good enough candidate to defeat an incumbent whose record is so poor that it can barely be mentioned at all, and never honestly, by his supporters.

Pascal's Wager for Today

Posted: 10 Apr 2012 07:31 AM PDT

(Steven Hayward)

Stop the presses: a French intellectual has a good op-ed article in today's Wall Street Journal-Pascal Bruckner's "The Ideology of Catastrophe."  It's a nice tour of the apocalypticism that is popular with the media and the Left (but I repeat. . .), with a French twist:

My point is not to minimize our dangers. Rather, it is to understand why apocalyptic fear has gripped so many of our leaders, scientists and intellectuals, who insist on reasoning and arguing as though they were following the scripts of mediocre Hollywood disaster movies.

Bruckner underscores something that has long been a theme of mine.  When people ask me, why are environmentalists so wedded to unending apocalyptic visions?  Because, I explain as simply and directly as I can, it makes them happy.  Bruckner on the point-"catastrophe is not their fear but their joy":

We begin to suspect that the numberless Cassandras who prophesy all around us do not intend to warn us so much as to condemn us.

In classical Judaism, the prophet sought to give new life to God's cause against kings and the powerful. In Christianity, millenarian movements embodied a hope for justice against a church wallowing in luxury and vice. But in a secular society, a prophet has no function other than indignation. So it happens that he becomes intoxicated with his own words and claims a legitimacy with no basis, calling down the destruction that he pretends to warn against.

You'll get what you've got coming! That is the death wish that our misanthropes address to us. These are not great souls who alert us to troubles but tiny minds who wish us suffering if we have the presumption to refuse to listen to them. Catastrophe is not their fear but their joy. It is a short distance from lucidity to bitterness, from prediction to anathema.

Bruckner deserves to be better known to American readers, I think.  I hadn't heard of him until one of our regular readers and frequent podcast interrogators, Ben Boychuk of the InfiniteMonkeys blog, called my attention to one of Bruckner's previous books, The Tyranny of Guilt: An Essay on Western Masochism.  Terrific read.  It is a wonderfully aphoristic takedown of the self-loathing at the heart of cosmopolitan liberalism today.  Such as:

Europe against itself: anti-Occidentalism, as we know, is a European tradition that stretches from Montaigne to Sartre and instills relativism and doubt in a serene conscience sure that it is in the right. . . Nowadays all it takes to attack Europe is a bit of conformism.

Or this perfect gem of common sense:

It is the paradox of open societies that they seem to be disordered, unjust, threatened by crime, loneliness, and drugs because they display their indignity before the whole world, never ceasing to admit their defects, whereas other, more oppressive societies seem harmonious because the press and the opposition are muzzled.  "Where there are no visible conflicts, there is no freedom," Montesquieu said.  Democracies are by their nature uneasy, they never realize their ideal; they necessarily disappoint us, creating a gap between the hope they elicit and the realities they construct.

Bagless in Seattle: The cancer spreads

Posted: 10 Apr 2012 05:04 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

In posts here, here, here and here, we followed the campaign to ban plastic bags in Seattle. The movement is spreading - like cancer. Los Angeles is moving forward with a ban on both paper and plastic bags.

The linked Los Angeles Times article notes that the vote occurred despite objections from workers at a plastic bag manufacturer who said their company would be devastated if bans are passed throughout the country. "I will be losing my job, losing my insurance. Please take that into consideration," said Norma Fierro, an employee of plastic bag manufacturer Crown Poly, whose managers had warned that a city ban could prompt the layoff of between 20 and 130 employees.

I love the high level of discussion that Ms. Fierro's plea elicited from the council. Councilman Paul Koretz said he expected that Crown Poly would need to eliminate only a small number of positions. And he compared the company to makers of horse-drawn carriages at the start of the 20th century.

"I'm the last one to allow for layoffs in L.A. city, and I fight them hard," he said. "But I've never stood and said that if a job doesn't make sense anymore, that we've got to keep that job."

Let's see. Can anyone handle the distinction between the disappearance of horse-drawn carriage manufacturing jobs with the killing of jobs in the plastic bag industry? Hint: The answer is implicit in the councilman's assertion that he's never stood and said that if a job doesn't make sense anymore, "we've got to keep that job." What you mean "we," kemo sabe?

And then there's this. Councilman Koretz et al. are not really vaulting Los Angeles forward into the future. They are legislating Los Angeles back to the era of the horse-drawn carriage.

When it comes to bags, I'm prochoice. Unfortunately, the Times doesn't report any city council member staking out such an outré position, or even any witness making the case for it.

Campaign for Working Families

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 210 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Santorum Suspends

Senator Rick Santorum suspended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination just a few hours ago in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The decision came after another weekend at the bedside of his daughter Bella, who faced another medical crisis. Watching this wonderful family and its commitment to the sanctity of life has been an incredible blessing.

As you know, I endorsed Senator Santorum and helped rally conservative leaders to his banner. I am saddened that he has not prevailed. But I am as sure today as I was when I endorsed him that his unambiguous message of smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, pro-family and pro-life values is a the winning message for the conservative movement and the right message for America's future.

Those who believe we should drop values issues in this campaign are dead wrong. If the GOP and its nominee fall into the trap of believing that these issues are an impediment to victory, they will ensure that the Obama nightmare lasts for another four years.

I urge Governor Romney to accept Senator Santorum's advice and counsel in the weeks ahead and to be magnanimous in reaching out to the senator, as well as to other conservative favorites who have competed in this contest. A united Republican Party can prevail.

To Senator Santorum and his family I say, God bless you! Thank you for defending our values in the political arena against long odds. We are proud of you. And we look forward to continuing to fight the good fight with you!

Obama's War On Women

By now you've probably heard about the recent meeting in Washington between senior Obama Administration officials and the Muslim Brotherhood -- the radical Islamic group that will soon control Egypt. Given what Obama said to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev recently about cutting deals after he is reelected, it would be interesting to know what was said to the Muslim Brotherhood.

I couldn't help thinking about the irony of this meeting given all the Democrats' rhetoric about a Republican "war on women." Aside from the absurdity of attacking a majority of the population, the only war on women I see in America is the one waged by the left against conservative women like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.

But there is a very real war on women being waged throughout the Islamic world, and it is led by groups like the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is committed to Sharia law, fundamentalist Islamic law that treats women like cattle.

For example, women seeking a divorce in Sharia councils must bring two male witnesses to testify on their behalf. There is no such requirement for men. And this happens in Sharia councils in England! Just imagine what it must be like for women in Egypt and the rest of the so-called "Muslim world."

Eric Trager of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy writes in The New Republic about a forum he attended last week with members of the Muslim Brotherhood delegation. Consider this excerpt about what he heard there:

"It remains unclear ... how the Muslim Brotherhood's longtime opposition to legislation banning female genital mutilation, which a Brotherhood parliamentarian recently reiterated, plays into the Brotherhood's supposed concerns for women's social role. And when CNN's Brianna Keilar pressed al-Dardery on the Brotherhood's clitorectomy stance, the parliamentarian suddenly got defensive. 'The Egyptian people will decide for themselves what is good for them,' I overheard him telling Keilar. 'It is not acceptable for anyone to tell the Egyptian people how to think this way or the other way.'"

The Obama White House is clueless. When pressed to explain why the administration was negotiating with the Muslim Brotherhood, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said this:

"It's a fact that Egypt's political landscape has changed, the actors have become more diverse, and our engagement reflects that. The point is that we will judge Egypt's political actors by how they act, not by their religious affiliation."

The actors may have changed, but it is laughable to suggest they have simply become "more diverse." And while Carney seemingly implied that those concerned about the Muslim Brotherhood were anti-Islamic bigots, the fact is the Muslim Brotherhood's actions will be dictated by its religious affiliation.

ObamaCare A Budget Buster

A new report from George Mason University suggesting that ObamaCare would add as much as $500 billion to the national debt is making headlines and prompting a fierce counterattack from the White House. But this really shouldn't surprise anyone.

Critics of ObamaCare have always contended that the new entitlement would cost more. The government has a horrible track record of cost estimates. And Obama's argument that you could cover everybody, offer better coverage and save money in the process was nonsense. Not surprisingly, Obama now says he wants us to run our cars on algae too.

But here's something many Americans have likely forgotten. When Obama pitched his plan to Congress in 2009, he made this bold statement: "First, I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits -- either now or in the future.  I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period." But like so many of Obama's promises -- from not raising taxes on middle class families to closing GITMO to cutting the deficit in half -- it was a lie.

Speaking of ObamaCare, check out my Politico column today taking Obama to task for his seriously flawed view of the Constitution.

The Buffett Rule: Rhetoric Over Substance

Barack Obama hit the campaign trail today. He went to the critical swing state of Florida to make his case for raising taxes. In his speech, Obama highlighted the so-called Buffett rule, which aims to guarantee that individuals making $1 million a year or more pay at least 30% of their income in taxes. While it may make for a good sound bite to suggest that a billionaire like Warren Buffett should pay a higher tax rate than his secretary, it is nothing more than rhetoric over substance.

The Buffett rule is not a serious proposal. The Associated Press reported that it would raise $47 billion over ten years. That's less than $5 billion a year when Obama's running deficits well in excess of $1 trillion a year! Moreover, it would only further complicate the tax code by creating yet another alternative minimum tax.

But it is also comparing apples to oranges, and it demonstrates how willing Obama is to demagogue any issue. Warren Buffett isn't paying a 15% tax on his earned income. That is the rate that every American pays on investment income, which is taxed differently for very good reasons than earned income such as salaries. But Obama is counting on most Americans not realizing this critical difference and falling for his class warfare rhetoric that preys on envy.

As today's Wall Street Journal notes, capital gains taxes are scheduled to go up to 20% on January 1, 2013. ObamaCare includes a 3.8% tax on investment income, taking the rate to 23.8%. And if Obama succeeds in imposing the Buffett rule, the tax on investment income would double to at least 30%. Yet history has repeatedly demonstrated that lower capital gains rates -- not higher rates -- yield more revenue.

Unfortunately, our community organizer-in-chief doesn't understand fundamental economics nor does he care too. During a 2008 debate, he told ABC's Charlie Gibson that he supported raising capital gains taxes as a matter of "fairness," regardless of whether it is sound economic policy or not.

Marini describes the history of budgetary conflict and the battle for control of the administrative apparatus, from the days of Jefferson and Hamilton to the Nixon White House.

Got Principles? The Ryan Budget Does.

"Thinly veiled social Darwinism," "a radical vision," and a "prescription for decline." That's how President Obama branded the budget authored by Budget Committee Chairman Paul D. Ryan (R-WI) that recently passed the House. Buried deep in his hyperbolic and partisan critique of the budget though, was one kernel of truth: "this isn't a budget supported by some small rump group in the Republican Party. This is now the party's governing platform. This is what they're running on." The Ryan budget is not just a blueprint for spending. It's a platform for governing that deliberately and self-consciously advances "the timeless principles of the American Idea"-among them limited government, free enterprise, and economic liberty.

Ryan's plan identifies the nation's looming fiscal crisis as a product of big government. For the fourth consecutive year, a trillion-dollar-plus federal deficit burdens the nation, and the government's publicly held debt is on course to exceed the size of the entire U.S. economy within a decade, and to nearly double it by 2035. Clearly, this trend must be reversed.

The President's so-called "balanced approach" of demanding higher taxes to close the gap between spending and revenue misses the point. Deficits and debt are symptoms of a more fundamental problem: The inexorable growth of government that unfolded through the past century. It is the size and scope of government that must be limited, and that means reducing spending. That is the Ryan budget's driving fiscal policy.

Big government is more than a budgetary problem. As government expands, it absorbs and suffocates what Ryan's budget calls "the core institutions of a vibrant civil society - families, neighbors, churches and charities." These institutions, not the government, are the source of America's strength; reducing the size of government, by reducing its spending, allows them to flourish.

Reversing the Keynesian-inspired meddling of the past several years, Ryan's budget promotes the "prosperity of commerce," as Hamilton termed it in Federalist 12. The budget ends crony capitalism and other market distortions and therefore gives the economy room to grow. "This budget stops Washington from picking winners and losers across the economy," the budget report says. "It rolls back corporate subsidies in the energy sector. It ends the taxpayer bailouts of failed financial institutions, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It repeals the government takeover of health care enacted last year and begins to move toward patient-centered reform."

Federalism and free markets are also central to the budget's domestic policy reforms. The budget's restructuring of Medicaid and food stamps applies the principle of federalism: it shifts more control to the states over how the programs are administered and how dollars are spent. The Medicare premium support proposal-in which future enrollees choose their coverage from a variety of plans, rather than relying solely on the government-aims to bring to retirees' health care the same benefits of market competition that exist throughout the economy. The Ryan budget transforms a huge, government-run entitlement into a model of patient-centered reform.

Finally, in this period of widespread dysfunction in Congress, the House's adoption of its budget resolution stands as a refreshing exception-a necessary assertion of Congress's governing responsibility and constitutional role. Until 1974, all Congressional actions on the budget were piecemeal-separate spending and tax bills-and only the President had a comprehensive budget. The Congressional Budget Act of 1974, though, established for the first time a coordinated Congressional budget process. It enhanced Congress's  authority on budgeting after 50 years of executive dominance. "With the Budget Act of 1974," explains John A. Marini, "Congress became a dominant force in the formulation of fiscal policy, and a major player in setting national priorities."

The Ryan budget may not fulfill all its ambitions perfectly-few Congressional measures do. But it does express a conviction about governing rooted in America's First Principles-a conviction reflected in its fiscal direction, its specific policies, and the very fact of its passage in the House.

New Documentary Coming Soon to GBTV: Rumors of War III
The U.S. is under attack. The enemy moves freely amongst us and even advises the very government bodies established to protect us from just such a threat. They've already smuggled in at least one weapon of mass effect and are working to set up missile bases within striking distance of the homeland. They are here, now, and their goal is singular and quite specific: The downfall of the United States of America. A shocking new documentary, Rumors of War III: Target U.S. provides irrefutable evidence of the attack underway being perpetrated by the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood and Hezbollah.  And, the scariest part? It's happening right before our eyes.

War on Terror: Over or Just Beginning?
Is the War on Terror over? That sure seems to be what the Obama administration would have us believe. After all, since Osama Bin Laden was taken out by SEAL Team Six, there has been little attention given to the real threats posed to America by radical Islamist groups. But the American people know we aren't facing an "Arab Spring" but an Islamist Winter with dangerous consequences for the U.S. and our greatest ally, Israel. Erick Stakelbeck explains in this EXCLUSIVE op/ed.

Marlins coach loves Castro
The Miami Marlins wanted a manager who could generate headlines, but they probably didn't have praising Fidel Castro in mind. Ozzie Guillen caused quite the stir when he did just that, and he's apologized about 57 times since then. Should he be reprimanded? Glenn reacts on radio today.

Santorum DROPS OUT: Today Rick Santorum finally dropped out of the race. He had a great run and handled himself well. Glenn on Olbermann's latest firing
Of all the things that happened over vacation last week, nothing made us sadder than being off when Keith Olbermann got fired from Current TV. It's the latest in a long line of firings for the acerbic liberal commentator, and we are sure that he already had his resume and cover letter ready to send out...but probably not any letters of recommendations. Glenn finally got around to addressing the story on radio today, and while he may have been the only one talking about it...we're really excited he did.

This Thursday on GBTV: Louis Farrakhan Exposed Thursday on The Glenn Beck Program, Glenn will reveal the truth about one of the most hateful and dangerous men in America - Live at 5pm ET (or on demand) - an episode you can't afford to miss.
Van Jones says Libertarians hate everything  It's been quite a whirlwind week for the former 'low level staffer' at the White House who was fired for his controversial viewpoints. He's hit all the big TV shows - and none of them questioned him on his controversial comments about Libertarians. All but one, that is - Russia Today had to do the job the MSM just won't do. Glenn reacts.

Commercial for Arlen Specter's smutty book
Arlen Specter recently went on Jason Lewis' show to talk about his book and blew up over having to sit through commercials between interview segments. Perhaps if someone could have brought the former Senator a naked Congressman for him to look at, he would have been okay. Check it out HERE.
