Analysis: US 'leaks' on Iran meant to prevent strike
By HERB KEINON  29/03/2012

The thrust of US news stories seems more about stopping Israel from striking Iran, than about Iran's nuclear program.

Yossi Klein Halevi, in an article on The New Republic's website earlier this month entitled "Why Israel Still Can't Trust That Obama Has Its Back," argued that Washington seemed more concerned about warning Israel than stopping Iran.

"Even when he seemed to be warning Tehran, he was really warning Jerusalem," Halevi said about US President Barack Obama's speech at the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy Conference.

"His goal these last days hasn't been so much to deter them but us."

A mere look at the headlines in some key Iran-related stories in the media over the last few weeks proves Halevi's point.

These are stories whose conclusions are that Israel cannot stop Iran's nuclear program, or that such an attack would actually get Iran to speed up its program, or that it would suck the US into a war.

RJC Faults Administration for Leaking Sensitive Iran Information against Israel

Washington, D.C. (March 30, 2012) -- The RJC released the following statement today:

The Republican Jewish Coalition is deeply troubled by press reports that indicate the Obama administration leaked highly sensitive information in an effort to hinder Israel's ability to defend herself against Iran's development of nuclear weapons.

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "It is clear from recent press reports that the Obama administration has moved from quiet diplomacy to lightly-veiled attacks in the media to prevent the Israelis from taking action against Iran's growing nuclear capabilities.

"The administration's willingness to reveal sensitive U.S. intelligence about Iran and to sabotage Israel's relationship with another country, all in an attempt to limit Israel's options with regard to Iran, is deeply, deeply troubling. If President Obama really had Israel's back, why is his administration leaking like this? These are not the actions of a friend of Israel, nor of a responsible and thoughtful U.S. administration.

"Israel, the U.S. and the West face a deadly serious threat from Iran. Every form of pressure should be brought to bear against Iran's effort to acquire nuclear weapons. That includes the credible possibility of military action, by the United States or by Israel. President Obama promised that all options remain on the table, but his administration is working very hard to take the option of military action - and the deterrent of a credible threat of military action - off the table. That does not benefit the U.S. or Israel, only Iran."

Background:
Yesterday, a lengthy report in Foreign Policy magazine (1) claimed that Israel has been granted access to airbases in Azerbaijan, on Iran's northern border, which would make it easier for Israel to stage an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

And today, the Christian Science Monitor published a story headlined, "Did US just torpedo Israeli deal for a base in Azerbaijan?" (2)

Andrew Breitbart Presents Big Government.com

Democrat Judge Targets Tea Party Group

by Dan Riehl, Brandon Darby, and Jeff Shapiro

A Texas judge has ruled to strip a Tea Party-aligned group of its non-profit status. The judge ruled that the group, King Street Patriots (KSP), was actually a political action committee (PAC) for engaging in anti-voter fraud efforts.

In reality, the True the Vote campaign is separate from KSP; while both were founded by Tea Party activist Catherine Engelbrecht, the two entities operate separately. "Everyone labels us as the same organization and I think they do that because it's a political maneuver to create the impression that the facts are other than what they actually are," says Catherine Englebrecht, the founder of both organizations. "If we were to argue this on the facts they wouldn't have a case." Engelbrecht said that although she is the founder of both groups, they have acted completely apart from one another. "We're taking a number of actions to make sure that it's clear the groups operate independently from one another, which they always have."

The Democratic Party has charged that True the Vote made unlawful political contributions to the Texas Republican Party by working with the party to train poll watchers and by holding candidate forums that were limited to GOP candidates. "Neither group has ever given a political campaign contribution to a political candidate or party," said Engelbrecht.

King Street Patriots

April 2nd - May 5th

Sunday, April 1st, 2012   219 Days until the 2012 General Election

What Happened?

Last week a Travis County District Court Judge ruled against King Street et al in a case brought against us by the Texas Democrat Party. Reports were that we'd lost our non-profit status. Nope. That's not what the ruling was even about. So, what was it about? Glad you asked. We were challenging the constitutionality of the entire case, essentially making the argument that the lawsuit is unconstitutional on the grounds that it violates our right to free speech. Our position was that the case should be dismissed. The Travis County District Court Judge said no. Surprise, surprise. We knew that was coming. So, on to the Austin Court of Appeals we go.  Professor John Buckles, a law professor from University of Houston, got wind of the judgment, picked it apart piece by piece and found, lo and behold, that the Democrat Party entirely misrepresented the ruling. Regrettably, our hometown media was already parroting the party line, setting in motion a tsunami of obfuscation. Since then, there have been countless articles written, trumpeting our imminent downfall, all of them conveniently failing to mention that the Judge who decided against us is known as a "legendary" supporter of the Texas Democrat Party. Here's what Big JollyBreitbart, and The Great One, Mark Levin, had to say (listen to the last 38 min).  Thank heaven for the truth-tellers.

Fellow patriots, all snarkiness aside, this is an incredibly important case.

Why? Because it will set a precedent that will impact every tea party, every 9-12, every non-profit grassroots organization across our country. That's why we are blessed to have Jim Bopp as our lead counsel. He represented Citizens United in their landmark Supreme Court case against the Federal Elections Commission - and he wouldn't have taken our case if he didn't see that it too has landmark implications. If you want to hear more about the details - talk to (one of) our attorneys ... Mr. Brock Akers, trusted counselor to King Street and patriot extraordinaire, will be with us this Monday, 4/2 @ 7p. Join us and get the facts you won't see in the main stream. And speaking of streams, don't forget you can live stream King Street Live programs and watch reruns 24x7 right here.

While the Cat's Away

Well, well, well. While we were were caught in the progressive spin cycle, look who was have "secret meetings" (their words, not ours) about voter registration in Harris County.

One More Reason to Attend the True the Vote Summit

True the Vote is thrilled to announce that Steve Bannon, newly appointed Executive Chairman of Breitbart and acclaimed producer/director of numerous films including Generation Zero, The Undefeated, and the widely anticipated Occupy: Exposed will be the final guest speaker at the True the Vote Summit, happening in Houston, TX on April 27 and 28. Seating is limited, so register now, right here.

Get on the Bus

On July 28th, Glenn Beck is hosting an epic event at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Restoring Love. King Street is coordinating busses to go to Dallas on the afternoon of the 27th and come home after the event on the 28th. Tickets haven't even gone on sale yet, but hotels are selling out fast and we are trying to get a headcount as soon as possible. Obama Promise Kept: Coal Plants to go Bankrupt with New EPA Carbon Cap

By John Ransom

3/29/2012

Enviro-Whack jobs are celebrating the demise of America's most abundant energy resource, coal. Because coal has just been given the death sentence by Obama and the EPA.

"If old King Coal isn't dead already, he's certainly teetering toward life support," said Frank O'Donnell, president Clean Air Watch in Washington.

The EPA has issued new proposed rules on carbon emissions that will help Obama keep one campaign promise: Builders of new coal fired power plants won't be prevented from building coal-fired power plants, they'll just go bankrupt if they try.

"Proposed emission rules for new power plants unveiled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on March 27 spell the gradual demise of coal-fired power generation and entrench the current cost advantage for natural gas," reports Reuters' John Kemp.

If Obama can't get the tax portion of the Cap and Tax, I guess he figures he might just as well get the cap portion done.

"The agency's proposed rule, signed yesterday, would set a standard well within the capability of modern gas-fired plants but impossible for coal-fired units to meet unless they employ (unproven) carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology."

Top Obama re-election campaign donor accused of fraud

Associated Press | Published April 02, 2012

I am not a crook!WASHINGTON -  A major donor to President Barack Obama has been accused of defrauding a businessman and impersonating a bank official, creating new headaches for Obama's re-election campaign as it deals with the questionable history of another top supporter.

The New York donor, Abake Assongba, and her husband contributed more than $50,000 to Obama's re-election effort this year, federal records show. But Assongba is also fending off a civil court case in Florida, where she's accused of thieving more than $650,000 to help build a multimillion-dollar home in the state -- a charge her husband denies.

The Kitchen Table Patriots are joining with a confederation of other Pennsylvania Tea Party, libertarian, conservative, Constitutional, Patriot, and 9-12, organizations to have a consensus on a single candidate that reflects the passion, principles, values and commitment of the grassroots as well as has the acumen and gravitas to beat Senator Bob Casey in November.  All the groups would then commit to supporting this one candidate in the primary.

To that end, we asked you vote for one of the candidates to voice your opinion. Here are the results of that polling:

Dear Fellow Patriot,

We have a choice in this years Pennsylvania Senatorial election that will have far reaching consequences for Pennsylvania.

Roger Howard is challenging Dominic Pileggi in the 9th district. Dominic has never been challenged and with the lack of any reformative legislation coming from Harrisburg along with the redistricting fiasco, he is very vulnerable. Can you imagine replacing the third most powerful Republican in Harrisburg?

Right now what stands in our way is the ability to get the message out. We are ordering yard signs and if we had an extra $1000.00 we could double what we are ordering.

Can you make a small donation of $10, $25 or $50. It would make a big difference. Please go to the web site now

Dr. Larry P. Arnn
Dr. Larry P. Arnn

Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"

In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.

That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."

Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.

I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!

And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.

Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:

"Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution"

This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!

I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!

Hillsdale College"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.

It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.

Classes listed in Blue have been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking on the link for each class below.

Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.

Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader.   Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.

About Hillsdale College

Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."

Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.

Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.

What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.

The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.

There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.

But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.

Lame rhetoric? I'm afraid not. If you do not understand the threat we face from 'peaceful' opportunists like CAIR, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/messages or contact me at bucksafa11@yahoo.com to schedule an Open the Koran presentation for you and your friends.

If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.

But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.

Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.

Thanks,

John Ryan

Tru The VOTE

We're going to Washington, D.C. to stand with Israel

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!

In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.

  • We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
  • We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
  • We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
  • We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.

We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!

Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.

The time to speak out for Israel is now!
Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

John Stossel - May 2, 2012

The Union League of Philadelphia
Luncheon: 12:00 - 1:30PM

John Stossel

John Stossel's new book, "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails-but Individuals Succeed," argues: "There ought not to be a law." Stossel explains how politicians promise to solve problems by passing laws, but the laws invariably make our problems worse.

After years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.

Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine. Without big government, our possibilities are limitless.

The Heritage Foundation The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Smith's Democratic Primary Votes

Steve Welch has taken hits for voting for Barack Obama in 2008, but he isn't the only GOP Senate candidate who has cast a ballot in a Democratic primary. Tom Smith voted in 19 Dem primaries since between the time he registered to vote in 1969, and the time he switched to the GOP in 2011.

When asked about these votes in the past - specifically the 2006 primary won by Sen. Bob Casey or the 2010 primary between Joe Sestak and Arlen Specter - Smith said he doesn't recall who he voted for or even whether he voted in the top ballot races.

Dear Friend of the Second Amendment:

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Pennsylvania's Sam Rohrer for U.S. Senate.

In a time when politicians in Washington have abused and grossly exceeded their constitutional limits, voters are looking for fighters who are not afraid to rein in the federal government and place it back under the constraints of the U.S. Constitution.

State Representative Sam Rohrer is a long-time leader in the battle against federal intrusion, especially when it concerns the right to keep and bear arms.

Representative Rohrer stood up for gun owners and states' rights with legislation to repeal the 2005 Real ID Act, a law that would have compromised the privacy of gun owners.

"I am deeply concerned about how the rights of law-abiding gun owners will be impacted by the implementation of the REAL ID Act," said Rohrer. "The Second Amendment clearly states that our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon. Thus, it is safe to say that Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and the rest of our nation's Founding Fathers would not even consider carrying around a biometric, REAL ID card that would allow the federal government to instantly track their activities and whereabouts.

"Make no mistake about it, REAL ID holds the unmatched potential to violate our Second Amendment liberty as we know it," Rohrer continued. "Whether you're actually buying a firearm or purchasing shells or bullets for hunting, recreational target shooting or self-defense makes no difference.

"The store will scan your REAL ID card, and your purchase could be permanently registered in the federal government's national driver's license registry. In essence, the federal government could also have the ability to limit the amount of guns and ammunition you're allowed to purchase or own."

Rep. Rohrer also authored and introduced the Tenth Amendment Resolution, which calls for aggressive opposition to the size and growth of federal programs, regulations and mandates from Washington D.C.

"Before there was ever a federal government, there were sovereign individual states. The Constitution very, very clearly recognizes that we are a Republic," said Rohrer.

In Harrisburg, Representative Rohrer has stood up and supported every pro-Second Amendment bill that came up in the State House, including:

* Castle Doctrine legislation, which strengthens existing laws dealing with the use of lethal force for the purpose of self-defense;

* Legislation to allow individuals with a valid Pennsylvania license to carry a firearm to purchase additional guns without the cumbersome, expensive and redundant requirements of subsequent background checks through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS).

* Legislation that enables law-abiding individuals who can demonstrate evidence of imminent danger to themselves or a member of their family to receive a 90-day temporary emergency license to carry a firearm, allowing sufficient time for the gun owner to protect himself or herself during the usual 45-day wait that ensues while applying for a regular license to carry a firearm under current state law; and,

* Legislation calling for Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies, specifically the state police, to discontinue its database of legal handgun purchases. Those records include personal information about gun owners, such as mailing addresses and Social Security numbers. The bill also sets a third-degree felony penalty and a fine up to $5 million for maintaining an illegal gun registry or database.

"Gun owners across this Commonwealth are justifiably outraged any time they are mandated by government to endure a loss of Constitutional freedom and personal security," said Rohrer.

"When government is not properly enforcing the laws that already exist to curtail violent crime, it is nothing short of tyranny in the first degree to place additional restrictions on law-abiding citizens whose only desire is to defend their lives, their loved ones and their property."

Gun Owners of America is a proud supporter of Sam Rohrer for Senate, and encourages all Pennsylvania gun owners and sportsmen to vote for Sam Rohrer in the April 24 Republican primary.

Please visit www.samrohrer.org to learn more about this race.

Sincerely,

Tim Macy
Vice-Chairman

RedState Morning Briefing

For April 2, 2012

1. Every Man Has a God

It is the start of Holy Week. Two Thousand years ago, Christ entered Jerusalem on his way to Calvary.

As we start the week, our nation finds itself in an interesting position. Unlike our cousins in Europe, we remain a church going nation with a majority who believe in God, or at least claim to. At the same time, it has become trendy to demagogue the Church.

ABC runs a show called "Good Christian Bitches" and the President of the United States declares war on faith trying to force secular beliefs into sectarian Christian faith.

We are still a mostly religious nation, but it has become cool to reject Christ or even to come out as an atheist. Atheists are routinely feted by our celebrity culture, appear on news shows mouthing off on the topics of the day, and are heralded as courageous for rejecting several thousand years of considered thought while mocking that considered thought as mythology.

The stupid are always the wise in this world.

Let's start this week with one particular thought that so many of the so called wise will reject as stupid, but which is absolute fact.

Every man, woman, and child in this world has a god. Even atheists have gods. It may not be the actual risen Lord, but everyone has a god.

2. The IRS is NOT investigating Gov. Nikki Haley (R, SC).

You may remember that a few days ago a minor South Carolinian political blog tossed out the very serious allegation that South Carolina governor Nikki Haley was about to be indicted by the Justice Department for alleged tax fraud involving her parents' temple*. The keyword? "Imminent." Well, it turns out that the IRS is not actually investigating either the Governor or the temple (H/T @RBPundit) in fact, if I'm reading this correctly the entire thing was more or less based off of the usual bureaucratic paperwork (H/T Hot Air Headlines). The goofball progressive blogger n00b (some guy named Logan Smith) that put up the article in the first place at first tried to stand by his anonymously-sourced allegations, but has since more or less given up and done one of the more grudging and passive-aggressive retractions that it's been my pleasure to read lately. I don't even think that Smith is going to get fifteen minutes out of this; and, of course, he'll never get another shot.

Tragic.

3. FROM RICK SANTORUM: A Legacy for my Children

What type of future do I want for my children and future grandchildren? I do not wish for them a future with a financially unsustainable, cradle-to-grave dependency on the federal government. Rather, I wish for those I love so much a future where the federal government encourages and empowers success, personal responsibility, and financial independence. I also want a future where state governments, or the federal government, can provide fiscally sound, dependable safety-net programs to protect our most vulnerable citizens from a life of poverty. We have a choice - government dependency, or a dependable, fiscally-sound federal government. We cannot have both. I ask America to join me in the fight to end the ever-growing cycle of government dependency - for our children and grandchildren - the fight for freedom and opportunity.

Liberals have continuously expanded entitlement programs far beyond stability. They have created generation after generation of citizens more and more dependent on the federal government. This has resulted in greater power for the federal government. We need to do what is necessary to keep these programs from collapsing under a mountain of deficit spending. It is a choice between saving and strengthening these programs, or further weakening and destroying the safety net programs that provide security and poverty protection to those most in need.

4. David McIntosh for Congress in IN-5

It's not too often that we have the opportunity to elect a conservative fighter who retired early from Congress and is seeking a second run. But with Dan Burton's retirement in Indiana's 5th district, we have the prospect to elect a battle-tested fighter in former Congressman David McIntosh.

David McIntosh was elected to Congress as part of the Republican Revolution in 1994. Unlike many of his colleagues, McIntosh never abandoned his commitment to fighting for limited government. Nor was he just a bench-warmer. After just a few years in the House, David was recognized as a full spectrum conservative leader, and in 1998, he became chairman of the Republican Study Committee. When Gingrich butted heads with conservatives at the RSC, McIntosh helped lead the coup against him. In 2000, McIntosh retired early to run for governor in Indiana, a race he unfortunately lost.

5. By Even Academic Standards, David Dewhurst is "centrist"

In the race for U.S. Senate in Texas, the conservative candidate clearly is Ted Cruz. His record of fighting for conservative ideals is clear, as I have noted before. Senator DeMint has endorsed him, as has Senator Mike Lee, the Club for Growth and a number of other important conservative voices.

But the establishment and conventional wisdom remains behind Lt. Gov Dewhurst as the favorite - despite the fact he has shown relatively poor polling, mediocre fundraising and is relying on his personal wealth to try to persuade Texans he is actually conservative. But the truth is hard to hide. I have pointed out before that Dewhurst is a moderate in the mold of Florida Governor Charlie Crist. Thus, we affectionately refer to him as Dewcrist.

Dissidents Warn Iran's Supreme Leader

By Reza Kahlili

Ever since the fraudulent Iranian elections of 2009 -- in which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader -- cracks within the Islamic establishment have widened to unprecedented levels.

Many within the Revolutionary Guards, the very force that has protected the clerical regime since its inception in 1979, have become disgruntled. Former high commanders have publicly criticized Khamenei, something that courts execution, as the regime's clerics have stated that obeying the supreme leader is like obeying Allah; those disobeying him will be considered a "Mohareb," an enemy of God, and therefore killed as justified under Islam.

Former senior Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Alaei, in an op-ed in a state-owned newspaper, openly criticized the Islamic leadership for suppressing the people and not allowing criticism of the supreme leader and of the direction of the country. He came immediately under attack by Khamenei's supporters, the piece was pulled from the paper's website, and radicals attacked his home.

Last month, Iranian state-owned media announced the death of Ahmad Sodagar, a high-ranking Guard commander. The cause of death was listed as heart attack. Interestingly, he was the fifth Guard commander to have "died of a heart attack" last month. Reports from within Iran revealed that he had stated in his will that if he died soon, it would be because of his belief in justice.

Let's say a prayer for this fine young man and for the family he leaves behind

Spc. Dennis Weichel of the Rhode Island National Guard is far more representative of the selfless sacrifice and honor exhibited by the US military during 2 wars and over 10 years of fighting. But even within the ranks of heroic actions, Spc. Weichel's sacrifice stands out.

The official Pentagon news release says he died "from injuries suffered in a noncombat related incident." But there is much more to the story. Weichel, 29, of Providence, died saving the life of a little girl.

According to the Rhode Island National Guard and the U.S. Army, Weichel was in a convoy a week ago with his unit in Laghman Province, in northeast Afghanistan. Some children were in the road in front of the convoy, and Weichel and other troops got out to move them out of the way.

Most of the children moved, but one little girl went back to pick up some brass shell casings in the road. Afghan civilians often recycle the casings, and the girl appeared to aim to do that. But a Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicle was moving toward her, according to Lt. Col. Denis Riel of the Rhode Island National Guard.

MRAPs, as they are known, usually weigh more than 16 tons.

Weichel saw the massive truck bearing down on the girl and grabbed her out of the way. But in the process, the armored truck ran him over, Riel said.

The little girl is fine. Weichel died a short time later of his injuries.

Specialist Weichel leaves behind his fiance and three children.

When reviewing the existential threats Israel faces, most will think of Iran. A close second would be Egypt, in light of the very real possibility of Islamists taking full control of that country. Few would consider the lack of Zionist commitment among the younger generation Israelis as an existential threat.  But, if a nation is no longer conscious of why it exists, and what its sacrifices are being made for, its very existence is put in jeopardy.  Perhaps in America, idealism and patriotism may no longer be an imperative to its existence.  However, in Israel, such factors are critical to sustaining the life of the Jewish nation.

The Americanization of Israel in recent decades has prompted many to refer to the Jewish state as America's 51st.  Israeli culture has been impacted by American democratic values and, as Daniel Gordis pointed out in his book Saving Israel, "were Israel to take the values of American democracy to their full and logical conclusion, it is quite likely that it would simply cease to be a Jewish state."

Ironically, the current generation of young Israelis has the good fortune to enjoy material blessings that previous generations only dreamt of, and yet, observers can see how, in direct proportion to the material growth, idealism has declined.  One might say, well, that is the nature of things in all western countries; as materialism and the good life is more forthcoming, idealism and patriotism disappears.  Israel however is not like all countries, it is unique; it is a nation restored after 2000-years of exile, made up of a people persecuted everywhere, who experienced a catastrophic holocaust only 67 years ago.  And if that is not enough, Israel, the refuge for Jews from throughout the world, is surrounded by hostile Arab nations and Iran, who would like to see it "wiped off the map."

The secular Israeli youth lack belief in the righteousness of Israel's cause.  They believe in nothing beyond their own pleasure, and are eager to imitate the fads and fashions of their peers in the U.S. and other western countries. Wanton violence in clubs and in the streets that was once unheard of has become frequent occurrences.  And who can forget the case of two Israeli 15-year old youths from an affluent neighborhood that killed taxi driver Derek Roth in 1995, for the thrill of it.  It prompted an Israeli police officer specializing in youth work to say, "I envy the Arab kids.  They still have something to believe in."

In the past secular Israeli youth were inspired by Ben Gurion's (Israel's first Prime Minister) call to settle the wilderness.  Ben Gurion and his wife moved to Sde Boker, in the heart of the Negev wilderness, and his example inspired young kibbutz and Moshav members to become pioneers in the Negev and the Galilee.  Today, this spirit of sacrifice for the nation remains in the domain of the national religious youth.  They have settled in Judea, Samaria, and the Golan as a way to create facts on the ground, much like their secular counterparts in the 1950's.  But for the secular young, who once produced the "cream of Israeli youth" and who were to be found in the elite combat units of the Israel Defense Forces, the kibbutz was replaced by bohemian "Shenkin Street" in Tel Aviv, and the Silicon Valley of California.  Where once post-army youth would hike the length and breadth of Israel, they are now fascinated with India and the Far East, and in disproportionate numbers found in mystery cults of one variety or another.

The cut-off point for the loss of idealism is hard to indicate with absolute accuracy.  Suffice it to say, however, that it began after the Six Day War of 1967, and became more pronounced in the 1980's and 1990's.

The aftermath of the first Lebanon War in 1982 spawned the rise to prominence of post-Zionism, and while Israeli governments sought to satisfy Israeli material aspiration, the Ministry of Education failed to institute a strong pro-Zionist curriculum.  In 1993, Education Minister Shulamit Aloni - a post-Zionist leftist, was forced to resign her post following her criticism of religion (Judaism), and her charge that the pilgrimage of Israeli students to concentration camps in Poland "turned Israeli youth into aggressive, nationalistic xenophobes."

Post-Zionism has spread like wildfire through Israeli academia, and social and cultural institutions, and has entered the public arena.  The post-Zionists are by their own definition anti-Zionist.  They believe that the Jewish state has reached the end-of-the-road, and argue that the Zionist enterprise lacked moral validity since its conception, and therefore must be abandoned. Post-Zionists also question the moral base of Judaism. While post-Zionism remains the domain of the leftist intellectual elite, it is undermining the national confidence, and in the justness of the Zionist cause.

The attack by Israeli intellectuals in academia and the media on Israeli nationalism and Jewish particularism poses more than a passing threat to the State of Israel. Israel is now facing a crisis of identity and values that strikes at the basic components and elements of the Israeli identity: Judaism and nationalism. Post-Zionism undermines Israel's soul and reduces its will for self-defense.

Fortunately for the Jewish State, the majority of its population still believes in the Zionist tenets, and demographically, Israelis who define themselves as traditionalist and religious Jews, are on the rise, while the affluent, secular, and leftist segment of the population is declining.  This was evidenced in the victory of the right-of-center parties, led by the Likud in 2009.

Although the Education Law of 1953, sought to inculcate Jewish school children with Jewish cultural values, love of the homeland, and loyalty to the Jewish state, which the current Education Minister, Gideon Sa'ar (Likud), promised to preserve; the urge to be accepted by the leftist post-Zionist cultural elite in academia and the media, permitted civics textbooks in Israeli high-schools to contain post-Zionist themes.

In Saving Israel, Daniel Gordis writes: "The unadulterated American model simply cannot work if the goal is the sustenance of Israel as a Jewish state...Now perhaps more than ever before, articulating how Israel might be unique, and not an inadequate version of another country (America), is a requirement of the utmost urgency."

To survive, Israel must not strive to be the 51st state of the U.S. but rather seek to be a model of a Jewish democracy that protects its Arab minority but understands and internalizes what it meant to be a homeless people for 2000 years dependent on the whims of others.  To protect its future, Israel must return to its Zionist and Judaic roots, and it must effectively transmit these values to the younger generation, born after 1967.

Utopia's Free Lunch

Lunch is a nice meal and a free lunch is even nicer. The problem with free lunches is that someone always has to pay for them. Lunches don't grow on trees, unless they're fresh fruit, the ingredients have to be gathered, processed, shipped, mixed, prepared, packaged, shipped again and put on your plate by a waiter working in an establishment that has to pay rent, heating, electricity and salaries.

A free lunch isn't just free food, it's the entire human and mechanical infrastructure needed to get it ready and subsidizing a free lunch means paying for that entire infrastructure. That's one reason why some states and cities are slipping into bankruptcy like a man who has had too many martinis over lunch. It's not just the free lunch that's expensive, it's the often inflated cost of the lunch delivery system that is killing everything.

The free lunch began as the Bread and Circuses which had its roots in a Roman bread dole. Free or subsidized bread is still a feature of political life in many parts of the world, including Egypt where the revolution had more to do with the price of bread than with democracy. The Muslim Brotherhood offered voters food giveways, turning Bread and Circuses into Bread and Beheadings, which is also a circus of sorts.

Free Egyptian bread started out as American subsidized aid. The world's free lunch is still doled out in Washington D.C. where the Senate dining rooms had to be privatized after losing 18 million dollars. A government that can't even run a cafeteria without losing millions of dollars can't run anything else without losing billions or trillions doing it.

The logic of free bread is simple enough. It says that the people in power are stealing so much money that it's worth it to kick a small piece of it back as subsidized food to avoid the people booting them out. That's usually the way it is when people offer you free lunches bought with your own money, it's because they're stealing a hundred times the amount so they can afford to cover your lunch with some of the money they already stole from you.

RESISTANCE

The media is angry. It gets angry whenever it encounters resistance to its narrative. That's what happened with the Trayvon Martin case and Obamacare.

When the media encounters resistance, it runs through its stages

1. Denial - No one but a few loons reject the narrative

2. Anger - How dare they reject the narrative

3. Bargaining - The media starts looking for moderates who will accept some element of the narrative

4. Depression - The media glumly pontificates on a broken America where racism and poor health care will always be issues. Where their narrative remains marginalized among the NPR/New York Times enlightened.

But the fifth stage, Acceptance, never kicks in. The process just repeats itself.

The Trayvon Martin case is still locked into Anger mode. ObamaCare is starting to tip slowly toward Bargaining, but is also in Anger mode.

Anger mode happens when the media realizes that the resistance isn't a few people they can ignore, that the resistance is organized, literate, competent and is advancing towards its goal. It takes the media a while to reach this point, but once it does, it jumps into action, plugging its narrative non-stop, searching for any evidence, real or manufactured, to back up its case, and pushing that evidence non-stop.

The facts don't matter, only the survival of the narrative does, because the narrative is a vehicle for policy.

Trayvon Martin isn't about a dead 17 year old, it's about reestablishing racism as the dominant issue in American life, helping to pave the way for Obama's reelection campaign and finding a wedge issue to use against the NRA in order to bring down the Second Amendment.

The media's problem is that it launched the narrative prematurely based on sloppy information, without taking into account minor issues such as Zimmerman's own racial appearance or Martin's problematic backstory. It assumed that the public would uncritically eat up the narrative, the right would be sidelined or made to feel guilty for supporting individual self-defense and the Second Amendment and the narrative would steamroll its way to the 2012 election.

At first they didn't know how to deal with the blowback, now they're stuck having to fight to defend their narrative to the death.

Fellow Patriots:

There have been many times over the past few years when I have called attention to the Islamist-friendly policies of President Obama, ranging from his Cairo address to the Muslim world to his administration's characterization of the Muslim Brotherhood as "largely secular."  But I have never before seen the President make a 180-degree reversal and stab an ally in the back - as he has done in numerous ways to Israel in the past few days.  Because the betrayals tend to be reported in separate articles, it can be difficult to add them up and fully appreciate how outrageous they are.

To put it in a nutshell, President Obama is starting to act more like an ally of Iran than of Israel.  It's that jaw-droppingly incredible.

To fully appreciate this betrayal, let's start by contrasting Obama's words from the beginning of his term to what he or his administration says today:

These last two statements by President Obama deserves special attention: First, his administration publicly handed Iran vital strategic military information.  Next, in discreet words to Russian President Medvedev, he suggested that the Russians could expect a favorable deal on missile defense if they'd simply wait until after Obama is safely reelected this November.  This missile defense program, which Russia has been resisting, is intended to protect Israel and Europe from an Iranian rocket attack.  More bluntly, Obama is talking with Medvedev about selling out America's Israeli and European allies!

What is even more frightening about this message is how it will play in Tehran because Obama has said he opposes an Iranian nuclear weapon, not a nuclear capability.  This message give the leaders of the Islamic Republic every reason to believe that if they simply hold off any display of a nuclear bomb until after November, they will be able to develop their capability, which will make it easy for them to quickly assemble a nuclear weapon whenever they please.  If fully developed with adequate supplies of enriched uranium, this capability will result in an unstoppable ability to assemble a bomb sometime after our November election.

In fact, the principle of a uranium bomb is so simple that such bombs can be built and used as weapons without prior testing.  This is what actually happened with the Hiroshima bomb, a uranium bomb of different design from the plutonium bomb successfully tested a few weeks earlier in the New Mexico desert.  The American military was so confident that the uranium bomb dropped on Hiroshima would work that they felt no need to even try it out first.

The Obama Administration has, with a few deft actions, both damaged Israel's ability to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and improved Iran's prospects for launching nuclear missiles at Israel and Europe!

As you can see from this video of the organizers of the militant "March to Jerusalem" ( http://efg-bnusfoodreserves.blogspot.com/2012/03/cbn-report-israels-enemies-unite-on.html ), Israel is already being attacked on all sides - literally.  As you read the article below, ask yourself what President Obama is doing to stand by Israel, which he's claimed to have done more for than any other administration à http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-administration-has-done-more-terms-security-state-israel-any-previous-administration_610835.html

Anyone whom Obama stands with should beware of getting a knife in the back.

The Radical Left Unites With Iran in March on Jerusalem

Posted by Mark Tapson Mar 30th, 2012 http://frontpagemag.com/2012/03/30/the-radical-left-unites-with-iran-in-a-march-on-jerusalem/

In the wake of the innocuous-sounding "Arab Spring" that has brought openly Jew-hating Islamists to power in the Middle East, Israel's enemies everywhere smell blood. Twice last year her borders were breached by mobs seeking violent confrontation, which they achieved as the Israelis defended against the invasion. Recently a global program designed to demonize the tiny democracy, called Israeli Apartheid Week, revved up further anti-Israel sentiment. And now on March 30, an Iranian-backed protest march will attempt to storm Israel's borders again in an effort to take Jerusalem - or at the very least to draw fire, enabling the marchers and the complicit media to denounce Israel's "brutality" against "peaceful" protesters.

The Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) is a well-organized, well-funded movement consisting of Israel-hating activists from around the world seeking to deny Jewish historical connections to Jerusalem and to claim the city for the Palestinians instead. In a clear case of psychological projection, the organizers' strategy begins with falsely accusing Israel of racism and war crimes:

The march will confirm that the policies and practices of the racist Zionist state of Israel against Jerusalem and its people are a crime not only against Palestinians but against all humanity.

The march is ostensibly peaceful, but in reality the marchers plan to launch their offensive from the Arab countries surrounding Israel and to infiltrate its borders, forcing the Israelis to respond with (justifiable) force - their ultimate goal being to overwhelm the Jewish state and Jerusalem itself by sheer numbers:

We aim to make this march a turning point in the nature of the confrontation, with the occupation having to face millions of protesters and demonstrators demanding Freedom for Palestine and its capitol Jerusalem.

At the heart of the GMJ lies Iran, whose regime expresses, on an almost weekly basis, its desire to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. It is financially backing various groups participating in the march, and Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei verbally lent his imprimatur to the movement recently.

The protest has also been endorsed, unsurprisingly, by prominent radical leftists in the West including anti-apartheid activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former British MP George Galloway, radical professors Noam Chomsky and Cornel West, Code Pink activist Medea Benjamin, and the notoriously controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright. A closer look at the anti-Israel track record of this star-studded lineup gives one a clear picture of just how great is the animus that the movement bears toward Israel.

Asserting that "Israel is like Hitler and apartheid," Archbishop Tutu has been a decidedly anti-Israel voice for many years. Pro-Palestinian activist Galloway is an admirer of Saddam Hussein, Castro, Chavez, Mao, and Stalin. He insists that it is "necessary" for the "two great forces" of Islamists and progressives to unite against "Zionist occupation" and "savage capitalist globalization."

As for GMJ's prominent American supporters, influential academic Chomsky openly detests Israel; in 2005 Rachel Neuwirth called him a one-man cottage industry of hundreds of anti-Israel books, articles, recorded interviews and lectures... Over a thirty-five year span Chomsky has repeated every distortion and libel directed against Israel that's ever appeared in Arab, Western, and left-wing Israeli publications, to which he adds some conspiracy theories of his own devising.

Racist professor Cornel West is a close friend not only of Obama, the most anti-Israel President in history, but also of noted anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan; West is also an avowed admirer of Rev. Wright (see below). Medea Benjamin and her group Code Pink, who express support for every conceivable extant enemy of the United States from Cuba to North Korea to the Taliban to Hamas, blames the Middle East conflict largely on our "biased policy toward Israel"; meanwhile she praises the savage Hamas for its commitment to "mutual respect and adherence to international law." That would be the same Hamas whose very charter promises the eradication of Israel.

Black liberation theologist Jeremiah Wright, President Obama's spiritual mentor for nearly twenty years, has expressed his anti-white racism, anti-Americanism, and anti-Semitism on too many occasions to enumerate. He has likened Israel to "a dirty word," and accused it of waging genocide against the Palestinians (if so, it's the most incompetent genocide in history, since the Palestinian population is one of the fastest-growing in the world). He and unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, another former Obama associate, jointly addressed a crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters in Chicago in 2009. Like Ayers, Wright is so radioactive that even Obama finally distanced himself from the firebrand. Asked if he had spoken to Obama since he had taken office, Wright replied, "Them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me." The White House maintains its silence in response to Wright's endorsement of the march on Israel.

Other notable American supporters of the march on Jerusalem are boosters of Obama as well. Writing for the Washington Free Beacon, Adam Kredo points out that progressives Clayborne Carson and Marcy Winograd donated to Obama's presidential campaign in 2008, as did United Nations official Richard Falk. Carson is a Stanford University professor who cites radical historian Howard Zinn as inspiration for his own political activism and scholarship, and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) schoolteacher Winograd is a Green Party activist who organized OccupyLAUSD to protest school budget cuts. In his position as UN Human Rights Council's special rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, Falk outraged many with his article "Slouching Towards a Palestinian Holocaust," in which he described Nazi horrors and then drew a parallel with Israel: "Is it an irresponsible overstatement to associate the treatment of Palestinians with this criminalized Nazi record of collective atrocity? I think not."

The GMJ's principal backer in the U.S. is the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a radical anti-Israel organization that justifies Palestinian terrorism against Israeli civilians and actively obstructs Israeli security and anti-terrorism operations. ISM co-founder Huwaida Arraf has acknowledged that her organization works with such paragons of peace as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

With supporters like these, it's clear that the Global March to Jerusalem is not a peace movement but a large-scale publicity stunt designed to provoke Israel into a violent response, which the participants hope will play right into their relentless strategy to isolate and delegitimize the hated Israel.

Bolton accuses administration of leaking story on Israeli planning along Iran border

Published March 29, 2012 | FoxNews.com   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/03/29/bolton-accuses-administration-leaking-story-on-israeli-planning-along-iran/#ixzz1qbw8Ack3

Former U.S. diplomat John Bolton alleged Thursday that the Obama administration leaked a story about covert Israeli activity in order to foil potential plans by the country to attack Iran's nuclear program.

Bolton, who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the George W. Bush administration, was responding to an article in Foreign Policy magazine that quoted government sources claiming Israel had been granted access to airfields in Azerbaijan -- along Iran's northern border.

The article did not state exactly what the Israelis' intentions were, but it suggested it could point to a possible strike on Iran.

"I think this leak today is part of the administration's campaign against an Israeli attack," Bolton claimed on Fox News.

The White House did not respond to Bolton's claims Thursday.

Bolton, a Fox News contributor, noted that a strike launched from Azerbaijan would be much easier for the Israelis than a strike launched from their own country -- jets could stay over their targets longer and worry less about refueling. But he said tipping the Israelis' hand by revealing "very sensitive, very important information" could frustrate such a plan.

Speaking afterward to FoxNews.com, Bolton said he didn't have hard proof that this was an intentional administration leak to halt an Israeli attack.

But he noted widely reported comments from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in February that he thinks the Israelis could strike as early as April. If that's the case, Bolton said, then it would be "entirely consistent" for the administration to try to avoid that impending outcome.

The Foreign Policy article quoted what were identified as "high-level sources ... inside the U.S. government." It specifically mentioned "four senior diplomats and military intelligence officers."

One intelligence officer, who was unnamed, told the magazine that the U.S. was "watching" the activity and was "not happy about it."

The Foreign Policy article did not specify whether any of the information came from the White House, and there is no direct evidence that this was a coordinated leak.

"Clearly, this is an administration-orchestrated leak," Bolton told FoxNews.com. "This is not a rogue CIA guy saying I think I'll leak this out."

"It's just unprecedented to reveal this kind of information about one of your own allies," Bolton said.

Obama related to Malcolm X? and who's afraid of Virginia Sunahara?

 By George Spelvin, staff writer

A forensic analysis of facial features of Malcolm X and Barack Hussein Obama appears on Youtube with the Black analyst asking his Black audience:" Is Barack Obama related to Malcolm X?".  He tells viewers he did about 30 hours of research putting together similar photos of the two men in an attempt to "combine us and bring us together."  The speaker dressed in traditional African attire tells them, "I'm trying to find out who the brother is." Pointing especially to the facial cleft, he says, "The Venus Cleft (of the FACE) is a dead give away."

The facial features of Malcolm X who was assassinated allegedly by his own followers in February, 1965, are in the face of America's sitting president.  The speaker tells his approving audience that the hairline, the chins, the smiles, the top of the lip, caused him "to go diggin. . .(because)he ain't told me who he is."

American Minute March 31

By Bill Federer, staff writer

Henry Opukahai'a was an orphan raised by his uncle to be a pagan priest but he became disillusioned with rituals and chants and left Hawaii for New England with a friend, Thomas Hopu.
They were befriended by Yale students and became the first Hawaiian Christians.
Henry studied Greek and Hebrew and translated parts of the Bible.
In his memoirs, which sold 500,000 copies after his death in 1818, Henry Opukahai'a wrote:
"My poor countrymen, without knowledge of the true God, and ignorant of the future world, have no Bible to read, no Sabbath."
This inspired Thomas Hopu and Hiram Bingham to be the first missionaries to Hawaii, arriving MARCH 31, 1820.
Devising a 12-letter alphabet, they translated the Bible, set up a school, a church, a newspaper and convinced women to wear dresses. Idolatry and human sacrifice had previously been ended by King Kamehameha II and his ... Continue Reading:American Minute March 31

100 Pages is Enough!: 2,700 pages of Obamacare insures it overreaches

By Jerry Todd, staff writer

When Chief Justice Roberts asked if the defenders of Obamacare expected SCOTUS to review all 2,700 pages of this overreaching law, he posed a question that should have been asked 100 years ago during countless other deliberations. It made no more sense to the Court than it did to Charlie Rangel - or any well-intentioned lawmaker or bureaucrat.

Tea Partiers formed committees to take on 20 pages each among them. It wasn't pretty! Ms. Nancy still claims her Congress took the Constitution into consideration.

Lesson 1: Always listen to your local Tea Partier!

Lawmakers have their overpaid fun for a while, but bureaucrats make careers out of draconian rules, harassment and fines to justify their existence.

If things are ever to turn around, lawmaking and bureaucracy must incorporate "Subsoil" - personal responsibility and "e pluribus unum" into the wonderful chaos of human interaction and proper government oversight. Campaign for Working Families

Friday, March 30, 2012

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 221 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Barack's Bad Week

Yesterday I received a message from a supporter who said she found reading this daily report depressing and discouraging. I understand her frustration. The past three years have been a nightmare for everyone who cherishes faith, family and freedom -- and I'm here in the belly of the beast!

So I want to offer a bit of encouragement to our supporters by pointing out that, by any reasonable standard, Barack Obama had a pretty bad week. For example:

  • The United States Supreme Court took up his signature initiative -- ObamaCare. And from the oral arguments it seems likely that four, if not a majority, of the justices are inclined to strike down ObamaCare as unconstitutional.
  • Obama was caught on an open mic appearing to tell one of America's adversaries: We can do a deal next year after my election. I remember when Ronald Reagan was caught on an open microphone joking about bombing the Soviet Union. Here Obama got caught perhaps offering to compromise our security. Check out this ad. While it is somewhat humorous, America's national security is no laughing matter.
  • Obama's budget was humiliated in the House of Representatives on a 0-to-414 vote. Not one Democrat was willing to support his call for higher taxes and more spending. The same thing happened last year in the Senate, where Obama's budget went down 0-to-97.

If we had an unbiased, objective media, more Americans would be aware of these facts and would likely be questioning whether he deserves a second term. But rather than getting frustrated and discouraged, fight back!

Sure folks can stop reading these daily reports if they find them discouraging. But blaming the messenger does nothing to stop Obama and his radical allies from "fundamentally transforming" the country we love.

I don't write this report just to blow off steam. At the end of the day, I am trying to rally men and women of faith to get involved, to take action in defense of our values!

Let me remind folks what we are all about: Campaign for Working Families is a political action committee that exists to elect pro-family, pro-life, pro-free enterprise conservatives to public office. This daily report -- consider it voter education -- is just one aspect of our work.

Keep sharing these reports with friends and family members. Pick one relative who voted for Obama in 2008 but who may be on the fence now. (Don't waste your time on die-hard liberals.) If every conservative converted just one voter, we would win in a landslide. Then I would have more encouraging news to report!

Obama: The Abortion President

It's not hyperbole to say that Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion president in America's history. And Obama's two-minute White House video address promising to continue supporting Planned Parenthood with your hard-earned tax dollars as long as he remains president is just more proof of his pro-abortion extremism.

Remember: Obama's commitment to the abortion industry is so strong that he threatened to shut down the government and to stop sending Social Security checks to our senior citizens and veterans' benefit checks to our heroes in order to guarantee Planned Parenthood's place at the federal trough.

Another Reason To Oppose ObamaCare

The Washington Examiner reported Wednesday that the IRS is asking for $300 million and 4,000 more agents to enforce ObamaCare. I guess that is what Democrats meant when they said ObamaCare would create thousands of new jobs!

Undermining Israel Again

Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a lot of flak for his lack of faith in Barack Obama when he declared that Israel would not inform the U.S. if it planned to attack Iran. U.S. officials felt Netanyahu was snubbing Obama. But many Israelis fear they can no longer count on America's support, even if Obama claims to have Israel's "back." The fears of many Israelis and millions of pro-Israel Americans may well be justified.

Foreign Policy magazine has just run a lengthy story quoting "senior U.S. diplomats and military intelligence officials" discussing a "secret Israeli staging ground" for strikes against Iran. According to the report, Israel is planning to use former Soviet airbases in Azerbaijan for strikes against Iran's nuclear program. One U.S. official told the magazine, "We're now watching what Israel is doing in Azerbaijan. And we're not happy about it."

Why on earth are these senior officials -- likely political appointees -- talking at all? Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton thinks he knows why:

"I think this leak today is part of the administration's campaign against an Israeli attack. Clearly this is an administration-orchestrated leak. It's just unprecedented to reveal this kind of information about one of your own allies."

Pop Quiz

Okay, class, time for a pop quiz: What is the capital of Israel? If you said "Jerusalem," go to the head of the class. But don't send a resume to the State Department any time soon.

If you need more evidence of why Israelis are having a hard time trusting this administration, consider this: A spokeswoman for the State Department was asked nine times by a reporter this week what the capital of Israel was, and she refused to answer the question each time.

ObamaCare Heading For Rocky Future

Government & Politics

ObamaCare on Trial

Nine Justices will decide the fate of ObamaCare

Fundamental to our system of governance is the concept of federalism -- the division of power between the federal government and the states. Cemented in the Constitution, this concept provides the federal government with only certain, specific ("enumerated") powers, while the states hold all other powers of governance over the individual. This division, along with separation of the federal powers into executive, legislative and judicial branches of government, is the bedrock that secures individual liberty in the U.S.

Although federalism has eroded significantly in the last century, it faces its most serious threat via the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as ObamaCare. This week the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) heard six hours of oral arguments over three days -- the longest amount of time allotted in almost half a century -- and a record-setting 130 amicus briefs in cases consolidated under the title, Department of Health and Human Services, et al., vs. State of Florida, et al., which challenge the constitutionality of the law.

Day One: Can the Court even hear the case? Before SCOTUS can reach the merits of this case, it must first decide whether it is properly before the court. Under the 1867 Anti-Injunction Act, taxpayers may not challenge a tax until it is actually collected. While ObamaCare compels individuals to buy health insurance or pay a penalty, this provision is inoperative until 2014. Democrats specifically chose language in the law that avoided the term "tax" in order to evade the certain political accountability associated with raising taxes. If the Court finds that ObamaCare does impose a tax, then it could use the Anti-Injunction Act to sidestep a decision on ObamaCare until that date. The states argue that ObamaCare is not a "tax" and thus falls outside the bounds of the Anti-Injunctive Act.

Interestingly, most scholars and pundits on the legal left believe ObamaCare could survive a constitutional challenge by seeking refuge in the enumerated Taxing and Spending power. This notion put the administration's lead attorney, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, in the unenviable Catch-22 of having to argue on Monday that ObamaCare is not a tax in order to reach the merits of the case, and then on Tuesday arguing that it is a tax in order to assert that Congress has the lawful power to impose ObamaCare's individual mandate. Justice Samuel Alito asked Verrilli whether he could identify any other case in which a court had ruled something as "not-a-tax" under the Anti-Injunction Act while still holding it constitutional as a taxing power. The short answer is, "No."

Day Two: Is the "individual mandate" constitutional? The "individual mandate" -- the lynchpin of ObamaCare -- refers to the law's provision to compel an individual to buy health insurance. Although this provision has several moving parts, the central issue hinges on whether the Commerce Clause, which empowers Congress to "regulate" commerce among the states, allows Congress to force individuals to engage in commerce so as to then be regulated. If the Court upholds the individual mandate, then virtually no limit exists to the power Congress has over the individual. Obtusely, the Left argues that an individual's choice not to participate in a certain market therefore affects that market, thus subjecting individuals to regulation.

From a practical standpoint, the pivotal vote is Justice Anthony Kennedy, who asserted that government has a "heavy burden" to establish its "suggested fundamental changes between the role of government and its citizens." His other major concern was that he could not find a "limiting principle" in the mandate, were it upheld. That is, if Congress is allowed to compel citizens to purchase health insurance, where is the limit to its power?

Justice Antonin Scalia pressed, "Why do you define the 'market' that broadly: 'Health care?' It may be that everybody needs health care sooner or later, but not everybody needs a heart transplant; not everybody needs a liver transplant. Could you define the market such that everybody has to buy food, sooner or later? So you define the market as food; therefore, everybody's in the market; therefore, you can make people buy broccoli?"

Day Three: Severability -- is ObamaCare salvageable apart from the mandate? Though ObamaCare is a statute few have actually read in its entirety, including the legislators who passed it, the Justices will decide whether the 2,700-page leviathan can be broken into parts so that those deemed unconstitutional can be discarded and those that are left can remain law. That the statute has myriad complexities is without debate. Recall then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Leftspeak, "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."

Now that "what is in it" has become clearer, the question is whether this poison pill law must be swallowed whole -- and it seems to be an easy answer. Since the individual mandate is the heart of ObamaCare, if that provision dies, then so must the rest of the law. Of all the cases heard in lower courts, only one federal judge struck down the entire law on these grounds, but based upon the tenor of Wednesday's oral arguments we think the Court might agree. The Court is not fond of gutting statutes and recreating from whole cloth the provisions it thinks Congress intended. Indeed, the Court has traditionally viewed this as a dangerous practice that introduces the Court to legislative functions the Constitution never intended.

Also during Wednesday's sessions was a review of the expansion of Medicaid coverage. Plaintiff states challenge the expansion as a coercive intrusion into state sovereignty because the federal government is dictating to the states that they must cover costs of the expansion or risk loss of federal funds. Although the SCOTUS has previously held that such "purse string" arrangements are constitutional, the states are challenging the extent to which that ruling applies, in light of the overwhelming burden the federal government will be saddling upon the states.

In any event, it's hard to overstate what is at stake in SCOTUS' decision in this case. Simply put, if ObamaCare stands, no legal, political or practical limit will bar the federal government from forcing individuals to do whatever it wishes -- buying health insurance is just the tip of the iceberg. If it falls, stay tuned for the Left to push for a single-payer system, in which the government becomes the nation's insurance company.

For now, we remain hopeful and trust that the High Court will come down on the side of Essential Liberty and justice in lieu of "individual mandates" and leftists' warped sense of "fairness." The Justices vote today, but the decision and opinions won't be released until the end of June. Another decision is expected at the November polls, and we're looking forward to positive outcomes in both.

Post your opinion: What will be the fate of ObamaCare?

This Week's 'Braying Jackass' Awards

In honor of this week's oral arguments, let's take a brief walk down memory lane with a look back at how various Democrats have responded to the idea that the Obama administration's signature domestic policy "achievement" just might be unconstitutional:

"Are you serious? Are you serious?" --then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA)

"[T]he federal government can do most anything in this country." --Rep. Pete Stark (CA)

"There's nothing in the Constitution that says the federal government has anything to do with most of the stuff we do. How about [you] show me where in the Constitution it prohibits the federal government from doing this?" --Rep. James Clyburn (SC)

"I don't worry about the Constitution on this, to be honest. ... It doesn't matter to me." --Rep. Phil Hare (IL)

In related news, Barack Obama's website is hawking "Health Reform Still a BFD" shirts -- a reference to Joe Biden's crude declaration just after its passage that ObamaCare is "a big f---in' deal!" Obviously, Democrats have no respect for the Oval Office or, more important, the Constitution.

News From the Swamp: The House Tackles Various Budget Proposals

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced that the Senate Judiciary Committee will be holding hearings on whether professional football teams engage in the practice of bounties, or financially rewarding players for intentionally hurting opponents during games. Senate Democrats decided to focus on this issue rather than more trivial pursuits -- such as the 2013 budget. Perhaps they want to see just how many years they can go without passing one.

The House, on the other hand, considered several competing budget proposals, including the president's own budget, which was quickly dispatched by an astounding vote of 414-0. That's reminiscent of last year's Obama budget defeat in the Senate, 97-0, and it speaks volumes that even every Democrat essentially cast a vote of no confidence in the president.

Conversely, the House passed Rep. Paul Ryan's Path to Prosperity budget by a vote of 228-191. Zero Democrats voted for the proposal and 10 Republicans opposed it, three because it didn't go far enough. The Senate is sure to block it -- or any budget proposal, for that matter.

Meanwhile, Democrats released their own $3.7 trillion plan. The proposal would confiscate $1 trillion more in taxes by closing loopholes for millionaires and implementing the so-called Buffet Rule. It would allegedly reduce the deficit as a percentage of GDP from 8 percent in 2012, to 2.7 percent in 2022. By comparison, Ryan's plan would reduce the deficit to 1.2 percent of GDP in that same time frame. Democrats made no attempt to reach a balanced budget, nor did they address in any meaningful way reductions or reforms to entitlement programs. The plan failed 163-262.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus also released a budget proposal calling for $1.3 trillion more in spending than does Obama's budget. Despite this immense rise over and above their boss's profligacy, the CPC budget claims to add less to the deficit over 10 years because of an additional $4.7 trillion in taxes. These "progressives" propose grabbing additional money via an $897 billion energy tax, an $849 billion tax on stock trades and a $319 billion millionaire surtax. They maintain that these and other new taxes are needed to pay for their proposed $2.9 trillion in new stimulus spending on the theory that the last "stimulus" was so successful. The CPC's plan failed 78-346.

The Republican Study Committee likewise crafted a budget proposal in response to the Ryan plan, which, they argued, doesn't cut spending deeply enough and takes too long to reach a balanced budget. The RSC plan balances the budget in just five years and cuts spending by $9 trillion over 10 years, while the Ryan plan cuts just $5.3 trillion. The RSC's plan failed 136-285.

The U.S. government's debt now exceeds $15.5 trillion. For those of you keeping score, that's about $50,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

New & Notable Legislation

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) plans to introduce a bill to implement the "Buffet Rule" with a vote scheduled for Tax Day, April 15. The bill requires that individuals earning more than $1 million a year pay a minimum 30 percent income tax rate. This latest attempt to balance the budget by taxing the wealthy falls dramatically short of accomplishing that goal, however. Supposedly, it commandeers an additional $47 billion over 10 years, reducing the $6.4 trillion deficit in Obama's 2013 budget proposal by just 0.7 percent. Even Fareed Zakaria, one of the mainstream media's most reliable leftists, spoke against the nation's progressive tax system, noting that the top 10 percent of U.S. earners (including Fareed Zakaria) pay 45.1 percent of the total tax burden, more than the top 10 percent in most European countries, including France and Germany. Zakaria even called for lowering income and corporate tax rates dramatically and implementing a national sales tax.

From the Left: Who's Watching the Watchers?

Gannett Wisconsin Media became part of its own story last week when its Appleton, Wisconsin, Post-Crescent reported the names of 29 circuit court judges that had signed petitions to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker over his public-sector union reforms. After publicly tooting its own horn for such splendid journalism, Gannett was forced to follow up with a public notice admitting that 25 of its own Wisconsin reporters, including nine at the Post-Crescent, also had signed recall petitions. Oops!

While Gannett notes that this violated the company's Principles of Ethical Conduct for Newsrooms, the reporter-petitioners argue that they were not engaging in political activity and therefore retained their "journalistic neutrality." Obviously, signing a petition in support of a recall election is a political activity, but the hypocrisy continues. In its statement, Gannett patted itself on the back for its transparency in notifying its readers, and then added that it decided not to make public the names of its activist journalists. "First and foremost," the paper said, "we decided to inform our readers and be as open as possible. We have decided not to name the employees." Once again, the "shield law" shields the media from responsibility -- and the public from the truth.

With the Obama administration dead set on turning the Keystone XL pipeline into a pipe dream, two energy companies have decided it's time for a little less talk and a lot more action. Enterprise Products Partners LP of Houston and Enbridge Inc. of Calgary are each moving forward with new pipeline projects that will deliver up to 850,000 barrels of crude oil daily from Canada to Gulf Coast refineries by mid-2014. Unlike the Keystone pipeline, these projects won't have to scale a State Department blockade as the portions of the respective pipelines that cross international borders are already built. Of course, other federal agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, will have to give their permission, but with Obama's push for energy independence relegated to nothing more than lip service, one can only applaud the enterprising energy companies for taking action.

Underscoring this administration's determination to quash domestic oil production and to raise gas prices, reports show that the number of permits issued to drill on federal land has dropped dramatically over the past three years, falling from an average of more than 6,800 per year from 2006 to 2008 to an average of fewer than 4,300 per year from 2009 to 2011. Meanwhile, not only are gas prices already painful but according to experts they're likely to get even worse. Not to worry, as Ed Morrissey sarcastically notes, decreasing permits and rising prices "are completely unrelated. Totally, fully, and undoubtedly unrelated."

Obama also continued to play the part of a fiscally responsible president, demanding that Congress eliminate "subsidies" for oil companies. He claimed that the tax credits available to oil companies, assiduously avoiding mention of similar credits available to other companies, were double dipping on the American taxpayer, once for high prices and again for tax credits. In a Rose Garden press conference Thursday, Obama said, "Instead of taxpayer giveaways to an industry that's never been more profitable, we should be using that money to double down on investments in clean energy technologies that have never been more promising."

Memo to Obama: If loopholes are closed and credits eliminated, the corporate tax rate should be lowered to make it competitive. Above all, stop scapegoating companies that pay more in taxes than they earn in profits. Leave it to him, though, to "double down" on failed policy.

Who is to blame for high gas prices?

Regulatory Commissars: Coal Is No Longer King

Providing yet more evidence that Barack Obama seeks to put coal companies out of business, this week the EPA enacted regulations that greatly hamper the construction of coal-fired power plants. The new rules limit utilities to 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt, a number that coal plants can't touch without taking extreme measures to reduce carbon dioxide output by nearly half per megawatt. Currently, an average coal plant weighs in at nearly 1,800 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt while natural gas-fired power plants produce about 850 pounds of CO2 per megawatt generated.

It's worth remembering that during his campaign Obama admitted that "electricity costs would necessarily skyrocket" because of his policies capping greenhouse gases. This unprecedented move by the EPA is a major step in that direction. Having set an arbitrary limit of 1,000 pounds of CO2 per megawatt now, what's to stop a second-term Obama from ratcheting the level down further? There wouldn't be any need for the fracking that environmentalists detest if demand for natural gas is regulated away.

It seems that Obama failed to consider how much more expensive driving those already heavily subsidized Chevy Volts would be with ever-rising electricity costs. Despite his declared intention to buy a Volt upon leaving his current post, rising costs are of no concern to him since the rest of us will pay the freight every time we flip on a light switch or air conditioner.

So we see another example of Obama's real agenda: If energy comes from a so-called fossil fuel, then it's on the hit list. The "all of the above" energy solution rhetoric is as phony as the "green" jobs created by the stimulus.

Income Redistribution: Bullet Train to Nowhere

DesertXpress is seeking a $4.9 billion "loan" from the Obama administration to build a 150 mph train to travel between Las Vegas and Middle-of-Nowhere, California. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is pushing the charade, which would be the largest of its type, because apparently he thinks tourists in Los Angeles will travel 100 miles outside that city to board the train to Las Vegas. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says it will mean "jobs," though just over 700 jobs would be permanent. Construction costs have already reached $6.5 billion, not including interest on the loan. We find it somewhat ironic that the party of "progressive" thought and action is pushing trains as the wave of the future.

Remember when Obama said in 2009, "You can't take a trip to Las Vegas ... on the taxpayer's dime"? Unless you're taking a federally funded train. Or you're Michelle Obama.

Security

Department of Military Readiness: Obama's 'Flexibility'

Meeting at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, South Korea, this week, Barack Obama made clear his objectives for U.S. national defense -- or should we say the lack thereof. Speaking candidly with outgoing Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, Obama was caught unaware on an open microphone saying, "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it's important for [incoming Russian President Vladimir Putin] to give me space. This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." Medvedev replied, "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir."

Obama, the real Etch-A-Sketch candidate, is essentially telling the Russians that he will be a blank slate after the November election, whereupon he will no longer be accountable to the voting public. U.S. national defense in Obama's second term -- should the American people be suicidal enough to grant him one -- is therefore entirely negotiable and subject to Russian approval. Recall that one of Obama's first forays into foreign policy was to back-stab our allies, Poland and the Czech Republic, by reneging on the missile defense agreement hammered out by the Bush administration.

The president, of course, tried to brush off the remarks, declaring, "The only way I get this stuff done is if I'm consulting with the Pentagon, with Congress, if I've got bipartisan support and frankly, the current environment is not conducive to those kinds of thoughtful consultations. This is not a matter of hiding the ball." He then claimed that he was referring to Russian elections, such as they are: "I don't think it's any surprise that you can't start that a few months before presidential and congressional elections in the United States, and at a time when they just completed elections in Russia, and they're in the process of a presidential transition where a new president's going to be coming in, in a little less than two months."

There's no denying the truth, however. Obama wants "space," or time, from Putin to get himself re-elected. Then everything is fair game. Indeed, also this week, Obama asserted that the U.S. has a "moral obligation" to take "concrete steps towards a world without nuclear weapons." Seemingly, the commander in chief operates under the dangerous view that our enemies will reciprocate if we just play nice. If his objective is to knock the U.S. down a few pegs -- which we believe it is -- that's certainly the way to do it.

What's your take on Obama's national security plan?

Warfront With Jihadistan: 'Friendly' Fire

American public support for the Afghan war has tanked since the recent crises involving the Koran burnings and the murder of Afghan civilians. Keep in mind that polls are too often used to drive public opinion rather than reflect it, but 69 percent of Americans now say we should not even be in Afghanistan, and a similar number say that the war is going "very badly" or "somewhat badly," according to a New York Times/CBS poll released this week. Further damaging public support are the increasing number of attacks by Afghan soldiers, police and even citizens (a.k.a. our "Afghan allies") on American and coalition forces. Just Monday, an Afghan soldier murdered two British troops in southern Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, the Pentagon's handling of these so-called "green on blue" attacks has not reassured people that they are isolated incidents. On March 22, General John Allen, coalition commander in Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Afghan security forces have killed at least 52 of their American counterparts since 2007, but that number appears to be woefully short of the truth. A number of American casualties whom the Pentagon claimed died in combat actually were victims of insider attacks. Whether these were Pentagon mistakes, or meant to misinform, is unknown at this time.

One American, Marine Corporal Edward Dycus, died in February from a gunshot wound. The Pentagon's official version said Dycus died "while conducting combat operations," but an investigation found that an Afghan soldier shot Dycus in the back of the head while standing guard at an Afghan-U.S. base. The Defense Department made no mention of the treachery in its public notice. Since Dycus' murder, six other U.S. soldiers were killed by their Afghan "partners" and in each case the Pentagon failed to report that it was a "green on blue" killing. According to military blogger Michael Yon, Afghan turncoats have inflicted about 200 casualties since Operation Enduring Freedom began, with more than 75 percent of the attacks occurring in the past two years.

Americans have expended great sums of blood and treasure to smash al-Qa'ida and remove the Taliban from power. Has the U.S. reached the point of diminishing returns in trying to help these treacherous, murderous ingrates?

New York Times Complains of Media Bias in Zimmerman/Martin Case

According to the tired, old Gray Lady, a "blog post [of Trayvon Martin's Twitter account photo] features an image of him making an obscene gesture and quotes from a message that includes an abbreviation for an obscenity." The image was posted "on The Daily Caller, a site founded by Tucker Carlson, a conservative pundit. ... The [twitter image was] selected to reinforce the argument that the victim of the fatal shooting was a menacing figure who might plausibly have been mistaken for a criminal." Versus the NYT, which was founded and still managed by Socialists.

Actually, the image was posted because the alternate image being circulated by the Leftmedia in regard to Martin's death is one when he was 11 or 12 years old, not a recent photo. Why not a recent photo? Obviously The New York Times' agenda is to portray Martin as an innocent pre-teen "victim," as they identified him.

As for the "quotes from a message," the Times just notes that it "includes an abbreviation for an obscenity." Martin tweeted under the handle "NO_LIMIT_NIGGA," and a recent message was, "Plzz shoot da #mf dat lied 2 u!." Did you detect something more menacing than just "an abbreviation for an obscenity"?

Climate Change This Week: Immunity and the Money to Make It Necessary

Acting as the market, we may not want to purchase the more expensive "alternative" energy or pay higher taxes and fees to subsidize its place in the market. Government in this era is, however, government that knows best, and we're going to pay for saving the planet with both our cash and our liberty. Take as an example the Green Climate Fund, a kitty of $30 billion extorted from UN member states and an agency looking for a permanent home. Of course, one condition of a nation becoming its headquarters would be allowing its operations to be shielded through diplomatic immunity, even though it's not technically part of the UN itself.

Or you can look at our very own Global Climate Change Initiative, a budget item for which Barack Obama seeks $770 million for FY2013, bringing the total U.S. funding to a cool $3 billion over the life of the program. This money is mainly spent overseas to help countries "adapt" to climate change and create in these far-flung places the green jobs Americans just won't do -- because there really are none.

All this is despite the fact that the global temperature has changed little over the last 15 years -- contrary to dire predictions that global warming is close to becoming irreversible -- and the unusually warm winter those in the eastern half of the country enjoyed was tempered by overly severe winters in other locales, particularly Europe, Asia and Alaska.

Yet it's a global scale where Al Gore and other climate change believers truly seek their change. These zealots call for "fundamental reorientation and restructuring of national and international institutions toward more effective Earth system governance and planetary stewardship" leading to a "new set of institutions [that] would have to be imbued with heavy-handed, transnational enforcement powers." No wonder they demand immunity; their next demand will be our sovereignty.

Not Fonda This Casting Choice

Semi-retired as an actress since her heyday several decades ago, "Hanoi Jane" Fonda has concentrated more on her political activism. But every once in a while, she will take a small role, and her latest part has raised eyebrows -- imagine the leftwing activist as Nancy Reagan.

An upcoming movie about longtime White House butler Eugene Allen, who served under eight presidents spanning from Truman to Reagan, is the vehicle for Fonda's latest comeback.

Fortunately, they haven't cast her ex-husband Ted Turner as the Gipper, but give them time.

The movie, which depicts Allen as a man who began his career in Washington at a time when he couldn't even use the public restrooms in his native Virginia because he was black, is a vanity project of sorts for director Lee Daniels, who is still working out casting details and financing. If all comes together, filming may begin this summer.

It would be Oscar-worthy if Fonda can convince moviegoers that she's the real Nancy Reagan and not the astrology-following caricature of the former First Lady that the media prefers to present, all while Fonda would be acting so opposite her own character.

What role should Fonda really be playing?

And Last...

Over the last three years, the Obamas have done everything they could to demean the office of the president. Indeed, the degradation extends to the White House itself. Blogger Keith Koffler writes, "The ornate and historic East Room is a national treasure that has been used for events like presidential press conferences, command performances by the world's greatest musicians, the signing of historic legislation like the 1964 Civil Rights Act, shimmering White House parties, presidential awards of military and civilian honors, and the funeral of Abraham Lincoln." Not anymore. Michelle Obama, as part of her "Let's Move" drive to fight obesity, hosted a workout session in the East Room to be broadcast as part of TV's "The Biggest Loser." Which gives us an idea for a campaign slogan Obama can use -- and we won't even ask for a consulting fee. "The Biggest Loser" has a nice ring to it.

Race-Bait Political Hustlers

Keeping Black Folks Enslaved on the ObamaNation Plantation

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." --John Adams (1770)

Barack Hussein Obama and black leaders from across the nation gathered in Obama's hometown of Chicago this week to protest the violence that occurred over the weekend of March 17-18.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, in just 48 hours, 10 people were murdered and at least 40 others were seriously injured. Most of the victims were 15-30 years of age and the assailants were black or Latino. One victim was six-year-old Aliyah Shell, who was shot to death while playing on the front porch of her home in the Little Village neighborhood.

"The violence this weekend underscores that Chicago has a unique gang problem," claimed Obama's former chief of staff and current Windy City Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

You may recall that a year ago, the Chicago Sun-Times won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting on violence in Chicago, most notably for a similar story about a weekend of mayhem in 2008 when seven people were killed and 33 wounded. (There were 60 percent more murders in Chicago that year -- 509 -- than combat deaths in Iraq, but neither Cindy Sheehan nor Code Pink were anywhere to be found.)

Of that award, Sun-Times Publisher John Barron proudly exclaimed, "It's not every day that I hear multiple squeals of joy. That's what happened when we found out. What a great sound. There are so many smiling faces around here now." The Pulitzer citation was for "documentation of violence in Chicago neighborhoods ... as a widespread code of silence impedes solutions." (Nothing like reporting on deadly violence to evoke "multiple squeals of joy.")

OK, truth be told, Obama and black leaders from across the nation haven't said a word about all of the violence in Chicago, opting instead to maintain the "code of silence which impedes solutions."

However, Barack and his cadres of race-hustling "useful idiots" are rallying black voters with a fresh Florida race bait lure, specifically using the death of Trayvon Martin, age 17, as political fodder to keep their most loyal constituency confined to the Democrat Party Plantation. Indeed, the "black vote" is key to the Left's divide-and-conquer strategy given that more than 90 percent of black voters support Democrats. Indeed, were it not for this monolithic support, the Democrat Party would be hard-pressed to win a single statewide election -- much less a presidential election.

Martin was shot and killed after an altercation with a Neighborhood Watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, a registered Democrat. Zimmerman has been identified in media reports as "white-Hispanic," promoting race-bait claims of a hate crime. The details of the incident have not been fully disclosed, though the Sanford Police department has released an incident report and ABC News has compiled a timeline of events. According to Zimmerman's attorney and witnesses, "George was attacked by Trayvon Martin on that evening."

Notably, however, nobody on either side of the public debate about this incident has enough information to draw any conclusions.

The herd of useful idiots are growing louder because, under Florida's "stand your ground" self-defense laws, Zimmerman has not been arrested -- and the protesters presume him guilty until proven innocent. And as Rahm Emanuel said back when he was still Obama's left-hand man, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste."

Predictably, Obama, the consummate "white-black" community agitator weighed in the same week he held silent following the Chicago violence: "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids. If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon. ... It is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody pulls together, federal state and local, to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened."

The "most reverend" Jesse Jackson aptly framed the Florida race bait as "martyrdom": "Blacks are under attack. How do we turn pain into power? How do we go from a moment to a movement that creates fundamental change? The blood of the innocent has power. Martyrs have power. [Martin] represents all of us. If it's a moment, we go home. If it's a movement, we go to war. There is power in the blood of the innocent."

Members of the House Congressional Black Caucus joined in the charade.

Florida DemoRep Frederica Wilson protested, "Trayvon Martin's murderer is still at large. It's been one month, 30 days, with no arrest. I want America to see this sweet young boy who was hunted down like a dog, shot in the street, and his killer is still at large." Wilson displayed a photo of an 11-year old Martin, looking a lot less menacing than the 17-year-old hooded Martin. According to reports about Martin's suspensions and juvenile record, it turns out he wasn't such a "sweet young boy," but a too-typical product of the now-generational inner-city cultural entropy that turns young children from great futures to sociopathic behavior.

Bobby Rush (D-Chicago), a former Black Panther himself, was escorted off the floor of the House of Representatives for protesting Martin's death by wearing a hoodie, now symbolic of "justice for Martin," but, nonetheless, a violation of House rules on decorum.

Georgia DemoRep Hank Johnson said of Martin, "He was executed for 'WWB' in a 'GC.' Walking While Black in a Gated Community." Isn't that clever? Of course, dumb doesn't get much dumber than Johnson, who, as you may recall, expressed concern during House Defense Appropriations hearings that the weight of our naval installation in Guam might cause the island to "tip over and capsize."

You know things aren't going well for the once-noble Democrat Party when its titular head resorts to the lowest form of demagoguery -- race baiting.

Obama and his histrionic sycophants are taking a page from his community-agitating political prophet, Saul Alinsky, author of "Rules for Radicals." Dedicated to Lucifer, it is a book on how to use tragedy for political gain: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. The opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.' ... One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other." As a community agitator, Obama practices Alinsky's maxim to "first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression. He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act. An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent."

Post Your Opinion: What impact will this have on Obama's campaign?

The Obama campaign did its part to "stir up dissatisfaction and discontent" by announcing a sale on their "Obama 2012" hoodies!

Other race hustlers were doing their part to "rub raw the resentments of the people of the community."

Mikhail Muhammad, leader of the New Black Panther Party (the same thugs that the Obama Justice Department refused to prosecute in an open-and-shut felony voter intimidation case in Philadelphia in 2008) sounded as if he'd received his marching orders from Obama's spiritual mentor, Jeremiah "GD America" Wright. Muhammad insisted, "It's time for us as black men to take justice in our own hands. If the government won't do the job, we'll do it."

Muhammad and his followers actually placed a $10,000 reward for the capture of Zimmerman, claiming, "According to the street people's law he has been charged with murder. ... I don't follow the white man's law. ... They have killed millions of black men and women. ... We represent millions of black people ... not white people and 'Uncle Tom' Negroes." We live in troubling times, indeed.

Nation of Islam radical Louis Farrakhan chimed in: "Where there is no justice, there will be no peace. Soon the law of retaliation may very well be applied. Let us see what kind of justice will come for his bereaved family and our bereaved community."

Of course, no race-bait banquet would be complete without Al Sharpton on hand with Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, proclaiming with all the simulated sincerity he could muster, "Trayvon could have been any one of our sons. Trayvon could have been any one of us. We are tired of going to jail for nothing and others going home for something. Zimmerman should have been arrested that night. Don't talk to us like we're stupid! Don't talk to us like we're ignorant! Lock him up! We cannot allow a legal precedent to be established in this city that tells us it is legal for a man to kill us, tell any story he wants, and walk out with the murder weapon."

(Not to be outdone by Sharpton's antics, Fulton's attorney reported that she has filed trademark applications for the words "Justice For Trayvon" and "I Am Trayvon." Presumably, those slogans may get some profitable traction.)

As a result of threats, Zimmerman and his family have had to abandon their home and go into hiding. Additionally, Hollywonk producer Spike Lee, who recently raised $1.6 million at an Obama fundraiser in his house, tweeted, "reach out and touch Zimmerman," to his 240,000 followers. Unfortunately, he errantly posted the address of an elderly couple as Zimmerman's, and that couple is now also under threat.

There is no evidence from anyone who knew Zimmerman well that he had any racist predilection. In fact, just the opposite -- Zimmerman and his wife mentored several young black children. Zimmerman's attorney noted, "When I asked this mother [of those children], and she's an African-American, if she trusted George Zimmerman, she said she did, and I asked her if there was anything that caused her to believe that he was a racist, and she said, 'Absolutely not.'"

Further, Joe Oliver, a family friend of Zimmerman's and an island of reason amid a sea of racist turmoil, said, "I'm a black male and all that I know is that George has never given me any reason whatsoever to believe he has anything against people of color. All these people who are threatening George, what makes them any better than the person they think he is? You've got all these people wanting to lynch the man and they don't know the whole story. There are huge gaps that are being filled in and interpreted without evidence. George had no intention of taking anyone's life, and cried for days after [this incident]."

Oliver continued, "There are people who have accused George of profiling," and he went on to explain that "as a watch commander" that was an appropriate thing to do, "keeping an eye out for people" who don't look like they belong in your neighborhood.

To that end, my colleague Walter E. Williams, in an essay entitled "Profiling," notes, "The former Charleston, S.C., black chief of police, Reuben Greenberg, said the problem facing black America is not racial profiling. He said, 'The greatest problem in the black community is the tolerance for high levels of criminality.' Former Los Angeles black police Chief Bernard Parks, defending racial profiling, said: 'It's not the fault of the police when they stop minority males or put them in jail. It's the fault of the minority males for committing the crime. In my mind, it is not a great revelation that if officers are looking for criminal activity, they're going to look at the kind of people who are listed on crime reports.' Are former police Chiefs Greenberg and Parks racist?"

On the institutionalization of crime, Williams notes further, "Crime is one of the results of the liberal agenda. Blacks are 13 percent of the population but are more than 50 percent of murder victims. About 95 percent of black homicide victims had a black person as their murderer."

Regarding the Democrat Party plantation, Williams writes, "During the 1960s, academic liberals and hustling politicians told us that to deal with crime, we had to deal with its 'root causes,' poverty and discrimination. Thomas Sowell has pointed out that in 1960, the total number of murders in the United States was lower than in 1950, 1940 and 1930, even though our population had grown and two new states had been added. The liberal agenda, coupled with courts granting criminals new rights, later caused the murder rate to double, and the rates of other violent crimes also began to skyrocket. Crime imposes a hefty tax on law-abiding residents of black neighborhoods. Residents bear costs of having to shop outside of their neighborhoods; criminals have driven many businesses out. Children can't play safely in front of their homes. Fearing robberies, taxi drivers, including black drivers, often refuse to accept telephone calls for home pickups and frequently pass black customers by on the street. Neighborhood property values are lower as a result of crime. Plus, there's the insult associated with not being able to receive pizza or other deliveries on the same terms as people in other neighborhoods."

Indeed, in "Race and Rhetoric," Sowell also notes, "The poverty rate among blacks was nearly cut in half in the 20 years prior to the 1960s, a record unmatched since then, despite the expansion of welfare state policies in the 1960s. Not only was unemployment among blacks in general lower before the liberal welfare state policies expanded in the 1960s, rates of imprisonment of blacks were also lower then, and most black children were raised in two-parent families. At one time, a higher percentage of blacks than whites were married and working. None of these facts fits liberal social dogmas."

"Facts are stubborn things...

Heather MacDonald of the Manhattan Institute sheds more light on the statistical color of crime: "Black males between the ages of 14 and 24 were seven times more likely to die of homicide in 2007 than white and Hispanic males of the same age group combined. But the danger they face comes overwhelmingly from other black males, whose homicide offending rate in the 14 to 24 age category was nearly ten times higher than that of young white and Hispanic males combined. Most homicides are intraracial, but the chance of a black being killed by a white or Hispanic is much lower than the chance that a white or Hispanic will be killed by a black."

Moreover, because the FBI categorizes Hispanics as "white," MacDonald notes, "If Hispanics were removed from the category of 'white' killers of blacks, the percentage of blacks killed by Anglo whites would plummet, since a significant percentage of what the FBI calls 'white'-on-black killings represent gang warfare between Hispanic and black gangs."

The real crime, according to former Garland, Texas, NAACP leader C.L. Bryant, is "exploiting" the Trayvon Martin tragedy to "racially divide this country. His family should be outraged at the fact that they're using this child as the bait to inflame racial passions."

(For a more candid treatise on "black America," read Bill Cosby's remarks on the NAACP's Gala Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education.)

Post Your Opinion: Is there hope for American inner cities?

What black men and women -- in fact men and women of any race and ethnic background -- should be protesting is the race-bait rhetoric of Obama and his poverty pimps, who promote the Democratic doctrines that perpetuate institutionalization of poverty and its resulting violent subcultures. As a friend said to me recently, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, free food, transportation and housing, and he will vote Democrat for a lifetime."

George Zimmerman is scheduled to appear before a grand jury on 10 April, to determine if he will face charges in the death of Trayvon Martin. Black community agitators, with a little help from their Leftmedia friends, will use the next two weeks to whip their minions into full frenzy protest mode. If Zimmerman is not charged with murder, as already convicted by hoards of protestors, it may take a lot more than an "Obama beer summit" to restore order in several inner cities in Florida, and across the nation. (Miami, take note.) Additionally, regardless of the court's verdict, expect Obama to renew calls for "gun control."

For Obama's lemmings, facts are not "stubborn things." They are irrelevant things. Agenda is all that matters.

Meanwhile, there's a long and heartbreaking backlog of horrendous black-on-white hate crimes that continue to receive no national attention. Just one case in point would be the brutal torture, mutilation and murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom by four black men in Knoxville, Tennessee -- a crime that has been subject to a near-complete "media blackout."

(Editor's Note: Do not be surprised if the Pulitzer Prize Board refuses to bestow any awards for this First Amendment exercise!)

In the Zimmerman- Martin case: What the Left wanted and what they actually got

Mar 30, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

In its panting and perverse charge to find an issue to ignite Black enthusiasm to vote for Barack Obama, the Left has run through a dark ally with a blindfold on. Predictably they have stepped on nails and smashed their face against some sharp objects.

When they heard the name George Zimmerman of Florida the Left immediately thought they had an eighty year old retired Jewish Democrat accountant originally from Queens New York. They thought maybe George Zimmerman was a runaway from the Democrat's Jewish plantation (Bob Dylan's real name is Zimmerman after all) who had gone NRA gun toting Republican TEA partier on them. They were wrong. George Zimmerman is a 28 year old self identified brown skinned Hispanic Democrat who they wish was an NRA member. He tutors Black children in his home and is not a TEA partier.

They looked at the picture of Trayvon Martin and fooled themselves into believing he ... Continue Reading:In the Zimmerman- Martin case: What the Left wanted and what they actually got

Obama, Holder silence spreads like gasoline, Panthers words strike the spark

Mar 29, 2012 02:13 pm | Coach Collins

 By Ron Reale, staff writer

Do we really want to see how much money other people think removing someone from society is worth? President Obama and his fellow racist at the Dept. of Justice, Eric Holder, have nothing to say about the hate group the "New Black Panther Party," (or any group), putting a $10,000 "Dead Or Alive" bounty on any American citizen?

The Panthers claim they only want to "capture" him, but in the same breath, say the violence their actions may cause is justified because their "Muslim beliefs" demand an "eye for an eye".

Obviously, the Panthers motive is entirely racist, because you never hear a word of protest or concern from these great paragons of "justice" about the massive black-on-black death toll in our "inner cities" (Democrat Liberal plantation war zones), like Chicago come to mind.

No "bounties" for those killers...I wonder why?

What would they say if the KKK, or any other group, ... Continue Reading:Obama, Holder silence spreads like gasoline, Panthers words strike the spark

'Do The Right Thing!': Watch a Fiery Beck Unload on Spike Lee for Tweeting Address of Elderly Couple

  • Posted on March 28, 2012  by Tiffany Gabbay

On his Wednesday evening broadcast, Glenn Beck unleashed a fiery tirade against Spike Lee after the controversial movie director tweeted what he assumed was George Zimmerman's home address. Many think the move reckless under any circumstances, however, matters were made far worse when it turned out the address Lee sent out to his entire list of Twitter followers was wrong, belonging not to Zimmerman but an elderly couple with no relation to the shooter.

Now that family has been forced to leave their home and may not be able to return soon if ever as they "fear for their life."

Beck slammed Lee for his reckless decision and said he would be ultimately responsible if anything were to happen to the couple. He also said that Lee should foot the bill for the couple's hotel, relocation, and even buy their house, as it will surely be difficult if not impossible to sell after his antics.

Morning Bell: Did You See the Senate's Gas Price Sideshow?

The Senate rejected the bill 51-47. Despite certain defeat, liberals brought up the legislation in hopes of distracting the American people from the fact that President Obama is refusing to take steps that would help increase the supply of oil in the United States, and decrease regulation, thereby bringing down costs for consumers. As Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) put it, "Day after day after day, Democrats ask us all to come out here, not so we can make an actual difference in the lives of working Americans and families struggling to fill the gas tank, but so we can watch them stage votes for show."

Heritage expert David Kreutzer points out, most of what the President and his allies call "subsidies" are merely manufacturing tax credits that already put the oil and gas industry at a disadvantage:

Overcriminalized Update

Bill Of The Week: Fraud is Fraud is Fraud

The Contracting Oversight for Small Business Jobs Act of 2012 is a classic example of the overcriminalization of fraud.  Senior Legal Fellow Paul Larkin has gone in-depth on the topic before.  There are dozens of federal fraud laws on the books that are being enforced in every federal district court.  Even so, Congress keeps finding ways to customize fraud for particular special interests.

Overcriminalization Interrupted: Senate Passes House Version of STOCK Act

"Hallelujah" overstates the point, but we are pleased that the Senate accepted the revisions to the STOCK Act made by the House of Representatives.

As Heritage explained in two earlier Issue Briefs on this subject, the additional public corruption provisions that the Senate initially wanted to include in the bill gave rise to a batch of different potential overcriminalization issues..

The Definitive Book on Why and How to Reform Criminal Law Available Now

ABOUT OVERCRIMINALIZATION

The Heritage Foundation and a coalition of public interest legal groups are committed to reversing the troubling trend of overcriminalization, which is defined by three attributes:

1. Federalizing crime that properly belongs under state and local jurisdiction;

2. Imposing criminal penalties upon persons who acted without criminal intent (mens rea);

3. Applying criminal sanctions to conduct that historically has not been considered wrongful.

This Legislative Update includes bills our researchers have identified that add or expand federal criminal offenses or penalties, but it generally does NOT include bills involving drugs, firearms, or crimes of violence.

How Black Leaders Exploit Their People for Political and Financial Gain

maxine waters_02The killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman is showing how liberals - especially blacks - care more about getting the political upper hand than affecting long-term change in black communities. Blacks are used as props to raise political capital. The shooting deaths of two British students - James Cooper and James Kouzaris - murdered last April in Florida by a black youth received no attention by black leaders or President Obama. Three letters were sent to the President that never received a reply. "It would perhaps appear," friends of the victims said, "that Mr Obama sees no political value in facilitating such a request or that the lives of two British tourists are not worthy of ten minutes of his time."

Why no national attention to the two Chicago men who were wearing hooded sweatshirts ("hoodies") and were involved in a shooting that left one dead and five injured. This happened in the same congressional district represented by former Black Panther Bobby Rush (D-IL). This is the same Bobby Rush who wore a "hoodie" during a speech in the U.S. House of Representatives until he was escorted out.

The goal of people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Maxine Waters is to build up political capital. Fixing the problems of black communities is not their goal. They need bad neighborhoods, escalating crime, and high unemployment so they can use these as political and economic clubs to extract votes and money.

MSNBC admits: Glenn Beck was right
MSNBC's coma inducing program 'Morning Joe' has a long history of mocking Glenn -- calling him crazy, a fear monger, etc etc. But today they were singing a different tune when an 'expert' appeared on their program to inform them about good investments. At the top of the list: Gold. That led to the shocking admission that yep, Glenn Beck was right. See for yourself & get Glenn's reaction.

ESPN yanks ad: cites 'religious' overtones, despite nothing religious in ad
In a bizarre story, NASCAR driver Blake Koch (pronounced 'cook') was trying to run an advertisement encouraging NASCAR fans to register to vote-that's all. So, why was the ad denied? Check out the ad and Glenn's response on radio today. Does ESPN have some explaining to do?

Caller makes a great point: Glenn looking 'puffy'
