The Socialist Apprentice
The fundamental question that a people must ask is whether they want to be independent of their government, or dependent on it?. Is government to be a tool that we use when we need it and put away when we don't, or a master that oversees our affairs and uses us as its tools. The question is not a new one though it continues to be asked over and over again, as each generation comes into its own, and examines what it is they want of government. Most people want there to be limitations on government, but at the same time they want government to carry out certain functions for them. The tipping point between tool and master kicks in when government gains the ability to expand its own parameters independently of the people. It's that moment when Mickey Mouse realizes the brooms aren't going to stop and Dr. Frankenstein realizes the monster isn't going to sit down and have tea with him after all. It's that moment when the thing you've created takes on a life of its own. Most of our parables along those lines deal with people who wanted convenience, a shortcut, only to invoke magical powers that they cannot control. The sorcerer's apprentice wanted to get his chores done without all the hard work. We want the same thing, except we don't use enchanted brooms, we use government on the understanding that since government works for us anyway, why not put it to use? But how does a tool become a master? Through dependency. Dependency shifts the source of power turning the user into the used. The more dependent you are on something, the more power it has over you. Addicts use drugs as a tool to feel good, until the power shifts and the only way they can feel good is through the drug, and then finally they need the drug not as an means to feeling good, but as an end in and of itself. That is how dependency locks in its users, by turning the means into the end. So too socialism may begin by promising to be a means to achieve certain ends on behalf of the users, only to turn itself into the end. And when a socialist system fails to get any of the ends done, the nationalized health care system is broken, poverty is on the rise, violent crime is out of control, the economy is stagnant and unemployment is climbing-- it's much too late to protest that this isn't what you wanted. Because government itself has become the end. The end of everything. Like all tools, socialism seems like a tempting solution. A shortcut to solving problems by loading them on the backs of elected officials and giving them a generous budget to handle the whole thing. And then we go away and do something else and let them take care of it. Why not? Isn't that what we pay them for. But like all shortcuts, socialism depends on creating a new thing. Primitive man was afraid of magic, because magic was said to take a part of him and place it into a thing. A thing which then takes on a life of its own. Which moves about and acts under our orders... until we lose control of it.

From our friend Diana Reimer from Philadelphia Tea Party Patriots
Road to Repeal Rally Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 12pm Upper Senate Park, Washington, DC
Join us on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 12pm in Washington, DC as we begin our journey down the Road to Repeal.
Are you worried about Government run health care? Are you opposed to the Federal government making medical choices for you? Join thousands of patriots who share your views on ObamaCare. Come to Washington, DC and be a part of the Road to Repeal Rally.
A majority of Americans view government run health care as a sign of what's to come from big government. More politics, more control and less personal choice.
Recent decisions by the US Department of Health and Human Services show precisely how government run healthcare will work. The government will make healthcare decisions based on political considerations over the needs of individuals.
Say NO to ObamaCare! Say NO to government managed health care!
ObamaCare is set to be heard by the Supreme Court of the United States March 26-28. If the Supreme Court does not throw this monstrosity out, then the battle for our healthcare continues on into November and January.
Now is the time to act! We need your help to send a strong, clear message to the big government types who are bent on trampling our personal choice and freedom. This is the first stop on the Road to Repeal! We need your help to win this fight and repeal government run health care!
Visit RoadtoRepeal.com to find or list a bus in your area and updates on the event. We look forward to seeing you there.

Saturday, March 31, 9AM-6PM The Kitchen Table Patriots will be participating in Nullify Now Philadelphia! (Click the image above for additional details and to register)
Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers.... a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

The Kitchen Table Patriots are joining with a confederation of other Pennsylvania Tea Party, libertarian, conservative, Constitutional, Patriot, and 9-12, organizations to have a consensus on a single candidate that reflects the passion, principles, values and commitment of the grassroots as well as has the acumen and gravitas to beat Senator Bob Casey in November. All the groups would then commit to supporting this one candidate in the primary. Doesn't this sound like an endorsement? Wasn't the KTP opposed to having the PA-GOP endorse a candidate? Are we now hypocrites if we were to express and support a preference of one candidate over another? It sounds like that, but we make these distinctions: - The endorsement by the PA-GOP was not from the ground up; it was imposed from the top down.
- All of the candidates tried to get the PA-GOP endorsement because of the weight it carries.
- That is why we are asking for your input and not speaking on your behalf to these other organizations.
We are asking you to tell us which of these candidates you support. By clicking on their name, an email will be generated to us with your preference. We will then compile the results and submit them to the confederation and when all the groups have spoken, we'll report on the coalition results. We are then asking everyone to support the candidate that wins the coalition support so that we can speak in a single, loud and passionate voice. To that end, we ask you to click on one of the names below which will initiate an email to us with your vote. Please - only one vote per person! - Dave Christian.
- Sam Rohrer.
- Marc Scaringi.
- Tom Smith.
- Steve Welch.
For those who would like to know more about the candidates, we have three resources for you: - Excellent video to get a sense of the GOP candidates - Here is the link to the PCN recording of The Pennsylvania Republican Candidates for the U.S. Senate Debate that was hosted by The Kitchen Table Patriots along with The Loyal Opposition, The Thomas Jefferson Club and Citizens for Constitutional Government. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19930833

Dear Fellow Patriot,
We have a choice in this years Pennsylvania Senatorial election that will have far reaching consequences for Pennsylvania.
Roger Howard is challenging Dominic Pileggi in the 9th district. Dominic has never been challenged and with the lack of any reformative legislation coming from Harrisburg along with the redistricting fiasco, he is very vulnerable. Can you imagine replacing the third most powerful Republican in Harrisburg?
Right now what stands in our way is the ability to get the message out. We are ordering yard signs and if we had an extra $1000.00 we could double what we are ordering.
Can you make a small donation of $10, $25 or $50. It would make a big difference. Please go to the web site now

Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution
Available to you, your family, your friends, and all Americans.
Weeks One & Two Now Available - Sign Up TODAY!
 | Dr. Larry P. Arnn |
Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"
In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.
That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."
Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.
I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!
And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.
Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:
"Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution"
This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!
I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101" course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!
"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.
It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.
Classes listed in Blue have been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking on the link for each class below.

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader. Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.
About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs. Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012. |

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.
What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.
The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.
There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.
But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.
Lame rhetoric? I'm afraid not. If you do not understand the threat we face from 'peaceful' opportunists like CAIR, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/messages or contact me at bucksafa11@yahoo.com to schedule an Open the Koran presentation for you and your friends.
If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.
But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.
Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.
Thanks,
John Ryan

CAIR's Fight Against Pennsylvania Foreign Law Bill
by David J. Rusin FrontPage Magazine February 13, 2012
http://www.islamist-watch.org/9192/cair-fight-against-pennsylvania-foreign-law-bill
Resistance to a new bill aimed at limiting foreign law in Pennsylvania courts serves as a case study of how Islamists and their allies operate: peddling falsehoods about Shari'a, painting Muslims as victims, and denying that anyone seeks to institutionalize aspects of Islamic law - even as they vigorously promote that very agenda. With similar legislation being debated across the U.S., understanding their tactics is critical.
At issue in Pennsylvania is House Bill (HB) 2029, which stipulates that "a tribunal shall not consider a foreign legal code or system which does not grant ... the same fundamental liberties, rights and privileges" as guaranteed by the federal and state constitutions. Introduced in November, it follows the American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) model and makes no mention of Shari'a. A preliminary memo sent to legislators last June in the name of Rep. RoseMarie Swanger, HB 2029's chief sponsor, does highlight Islamic law, but she later said that it had been circulated accidentally. Regardless, concerns about Shari'a are warranted due to its many provisions that conflict with the standards of American jurisprudence. For example, it disadvantages women in terms of inheritance, divorce, child custody, and other areas of family law. Shari'a already has shaped numerous cases nationwide, including in Pennsylvania, where one state court decided how assets should be distributed according to Islam.
Pushback against HB 2029 has been led by the Philadelphia office of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-PA) and was punctuated by an interfaith press conference (video here) at CAIR-PA headquarters on December 14. The overall campaign reflects CAIR's usual recipe of distortion, victimology, and contradiction between words and deeds.
Attacks on bills like HB 2029 begin by sowing confusion about Shari'a. Because Islamic law encompasses virtually every facet of life - governing personal activities such as eating and worship, but also forming an oppressive social and legal structure - suit-and-tie Islamists work to emphasize its unthreatening pieces whenever possible. CAIR-PA executive director Moein Khawaja's suggestion that Shari'a should worry Pennsylvanians no more than halal gyros is a fine example of this technique.

March 23rd, 2012, marks an important and unfortunate anniversary. It will have been exactly two years since President Obama forced his unpopular health care takeover onto the American people. Americans for Prosperity has educated the public about the dangers of government interference in the health care market for the past several years, and now the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments and make a ruling on that very issue. As you are most likely aware, the U.S. Supreme Court will be considering the constitutionality of several elements of the President's health care bill. This may be our best chance to overturn this offense against our health care freedoms. That's why Americans for Prosperity will be hosting a Hands Off My Health Care rally for free-market grassroots activists from across the country at the Supreme Court on March 27th. Details can be found below.

From July 16 through July 18, 2012, Christians United for Israel will be holding its 7th Annual Washington Summit. We're going back to stand with Israel in our nation's capital. This year - more than ever - we need you to join us!
In the coming months, critical decisions are going to be made about Iran, Israel and the world. Finally, Washington is beginning to focus on the issue of a nuclear Iran. Many of our leaders want to confront this looming threat. But others want to keep kicking the can down the road. The debate is far from over.
- We know that when thousands of CUFI activists arrive in DC and on Capitol Hill, we can change the conversation.
- We can remind our leaders that a nuclear Iran is not only a threat to Israel, but to the US as well. And we can demonstrate to our elected officials that their constituents care enough about this issue to show up at their DC offices.
- We know that we can create a sense of immediacy that's otherwise lacking.
- We know that the more of us who show up and speak out -- the louder our voice and the greater our impact.
We stand at a critical juncture in history. Don't be silent! Don't miss your chance to make a difference! Don't pass up your opportunity to defend America and bless Israel!
Our leaders need to remember that we are watching them and we need to remember that God is watching us.
The time to speak out for Israel is now! Please register today for CUFI's 2012 DC Summit.

John Stossel - May 2, 2012
The Union League of Philadelphia
Luncheon: 12:00 - 1:30PM

After years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.
Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine. Without big government, our possibilities are limitless.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Employers ask job seekers for Facebook passwords By MANUEL VALDES and SHANNON MCFARLAND Associated Press
SEATTLE (AP) -- When Justin Bassett interviewed for a new job, he expected the usual questions about experience and references. So he was astonished when the interviewer asked for something else: his Facebook username and password. Bassett, a New York City statistician, had just finished answering a few character questions when the interviewer turned to her computer to search for his Facebook page. But she couldn't see his private profile. She turned back and asked him to hand over his login information

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 22, 2012
1. Forgetting History
I have a confession to make.
I am a thirty-something pundit on television and radio and I am frequently aggravated by many twenty and thirty-something pundits on television and radio. It is even a non-partisan aggravation.
We all make mistakes and I am sure someone can be critical of me for the same reason I find so many up and coming political pundits so aggravating, but I try to do my homework. I do keep a Lexis-Nexis account. I do read my history books. Mistakes happen, but it seems a lot of up and coming soon to be somebodies are making needless mistakes.
This may sound like a Matt Lewis inspired "get off my lawn" screed, but put very simply, a lot of pundits of the twenty and thirty-something variety have absolutely no sense of history. For them, partisan politics began at Bush vs. Gore and history did not exist before November of 2000.
2. Marx Madness Redux My radio producer, Shane, is a genius. And he put this audio montage together in honor of the 2nd anniversary of Obamacare. What to call it? Marx Madness. What to put as background music? Why the national anthem to the USSR of course. 3. Mitt Romney: The Consummate Etch A Sketch Throughout the presidential campaign, we have been lampooned by the pale-pastel wing of the party for not coalescing around the Romney campaign with alacrity. Our detractors have been stupefied by our stubborn opposition to "the only candidate who can beat Obama;" the man with the requisite resume, funding, organization, intelligence, and persona. We've been at a loss to encapsulate our opposition into a one-liner; a bumper sticker. After all, it takes copious pages of ink to explain the extent of Romney's hypocrisy on the issue of healthcare alone. Yet, late in the 11th hour of the campaign, when it's probably too late to make a difference, we have finally discovered our symbol that exemplifies Romney. Ironically, it came from his own campaign. 4. A Real Solution to the Gridlock Over the Highway Bill As we approach the March 31 expiration date for surface transportation projects, we can take solace in the fact that the House will not vote on two bad bills; Boehner's original 5-year $260 billion reauthorization and the Senate's 2-year $109 billion bill. While we push for a more prudent long-term solution, the House will pass a 90-day stopgap bill to continue spending at current levels until the end of July. While funding transportation projects with short-term bills is not ideal, it is better than passing a lousy long-term bill that cannot be altered for several years. Democrats are already launching their cantankerous assaults on the "irresponsible" stopgap bill, but we must remind them of two points that are overlooked in this debate.

Slaughter a liberal sacred cow:
Explain that China's "genocide" in Tibet is a liberal myth, eagerly stoked by the exiled Dalai Lama (who has no vested interests, right?) and funded in the 1950s by the CIA as part of a campaign to discredit the Communist Chinese. Most of the Tibetan monasteries were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution by young native Tibetan Communists convinced that religion had inhibited Tibet's modernization. Stories about mass killings turn out, on close scrutiny, to be entirely fictitious. Conclude this mini-history lesson by asking: "Anyway, what's your problem? You're a liberal. You LIKE Commies!"

Explosions reported as standoff between French police and terror suspect escalates
Associated Press | Published March 21, 2012
TOULOUSE, France - Riot police set off explosions outside an apartment building early Thursday in an effort to force the surrender of a gunman who boasted of bringing France "to its knees" with an Al Qaeda-linked terror spree that killed seven people.
As the standoff dragged into a second day, hundreds of heavily armed police, some in body armor, cordoned off the five-story building in Toulouse where the 24-year-old suspect, Mohamed Merah, had been holed up.
Just after midnight, three explosions were heard and orange flashes lit up the night sky near the building. An Interior Ministry official said the suspect had gone back on a previous pledge to turn himself in -- and that police blew up the shutters outside the apartment window to pressure him to surrender. Hours later two new blasts and a burst of gunfire were heard, though officials said no full-out assault was under way. "It's not as simple as that. We are waiting," the Toulouse prosecutor, Michel Valet, told The Associated Press. Authorities said the shooter, a French citizen of Algerian descent, had been to Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he claimed to have received training from Al Qaeda. Read More . . .

Newt's drive to the White House (On $2.50 Gas?)
Mar 21, 2012 06:13 am | Coach Collins
By Ron Reale, staff writer
It is now more obvious than ever that Newt Gingrich should stay in this race. If for no other reason he needs to do so to keep repeating his questions and answers on fuel.
Over the coming months he needs to get others to repeat and spread the truth about our oil capacities and this is the way to do it. Keeping the debate going will spotlight the current debacle that is the Administration's oil policy, the effects of Obama's unemployment rates and the rest of the economic questions that plague us because of Obama, front and center in the MSM and the people's minds.
Newt need do nothing else. He could get elected on this one issue.
The more he repeats the facts, and points out the beneficial ripple effect of unleashing America's energy industry, and the jobs it would create, the more he diminishes Obama. The more Obama has to go out ... Continue Reading:Newt's drive to the White House (On $2.50 Gas?)

American Minute March 20

By Bill Federer, staff writer
Sir Isaac Newton died MARCH 20, 1727. With his mother widowed twice, he had been raised by his grandmother before being sent off to grammar school and later Cambridge. A discoverer of calculus, Newton described universal gravitation, the three laws of motion, and built one of the first practical reflecting telescopes. Using a prism, Newton demonstrated that a beam of light contained all the colors of the rainbow. President of the Royal Society from 1703 till his death, Sir Isaac Newton wrote one of the most important scientific books ever written, Principia, 1687, in which he stated: "This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent Being... All variety of created objects which represent order and life in the universe could happen only by the willful reasoning of its original Creator, whom I call the ... Media threatened with federal investigations if Obama birth certificate story reported
Mar 20, 2012 01:00 pm | Coach Collins
by Doug Book, staff writer
Individuals and member organizations of the American media were threatened with FTC and FCC investigation if information gathered by Sheriff Arpaio's Cold Case Posse concerning the forgery of Barack Obama's long form birth certificate were passed on to the American public.
It was Posse lead investigator Mike Zullo who made this stunning revelation, stating "During our investigation, we actually were told [that media] had been threatened with FTC investigations. Commentators [had been] threatened with their jobs." (1)
And Jerome Corsi, author of "Where's the birth certificate," the book whose imminent publication was responsible for forcing Barack Obama to quickly create and place the fraudulent long form birth certificate on the White House web site, has said that "Testimony is being developed that the White House is intimidating, in a systematic way, the mainstream media and if any broadcasters dare go into this birther story, they're going to risk FCC investigations... people are going to ... Fellow patriots,
The message below comes from Bob Petrusak, a retired Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado who is also a patriot and a friend. Bob has some valuable legal advice for Pennsylvanians in the wake of the outrageous decision by Judge Mark Martin to throw out the assault charge against a Muslim who unquestionably assaulted an Atheist in a Halloween Parade because he was dressed as Muhammad. Please read his message and prepare to take action.
Thank you,
Dave
Fellow Defenders of the Constitution, This morning, I did a little research on the case of Commonwealth v. Elbayomy, the episode in Mechanicsburg, Pa. where a man marching in a Halloween Parade as the Prophet Muhammad was assaulted by a Muslim spectator intent on showing his 9 year old son how real Muslims respond to insults to the founder of their faith. As I'm sure you're all aware, the judge dismissed the prosecution's case during a proceeding which appeared to be a bench trial or "trial to the court" without a jury. I came across the following article with extensive quotes from the judge's ruling. I came across the following article with extensive quotes from the judge's ruling. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/society/crime/muslim-admits-attacking-atheist-muslim-judge-dismisses-case These quotes show the ruling to be as bad as one can possibly imagine which, long-term will be good for our side. The judge who is apparently Muslim not only failed to recognize basic First Amendment rights of the victim but conversely recognized that Islam is more than a religion, that is, a culture or way of life which in certain other countries would result in a death sentence for one's public expression of disdain for the Prophet. I can't imagine a better example of how Shariah is creeping into our public life: A judge who is apparently a Muslim and unable to overcome his personal beliefs ignores our First Amendment in deference to laws of foreign jurisdictions where the culture of Islam regards certain forms of free expression as deserving of death. In other words, he imposed this culture's concept of blasphemy on Cumberland County, Pa. I called the Cumberland County district attorney's office this morning to see if they are planning to appeal. Since a trial apparently had begun when the judge made his ruling, jeopardy had attached and the Fifth Amendment "double jeopardy" clause will prevent the defendant from being retried. However, Pennsylvania law may permit the district attorney an appeal to seek disapproval of the judge's ruling. I know this was doable in Colorado when a judge's erroneous ruling allowed a defendant to go free. The ruling could be taken up on appeal and the state supreme court could declare the "ruling disapproved." This was usually a worthwhile endeavor for the prosecution because it prevented similar unjust rulings in the future. I called the Cumberland County District Attorney's office a short while ago. The receptionist who answered my call did not know the answer to my question "Are you going to appeal the ruling in the Elbayomy case?" She directed my call to the boss, the elected district attorney, Mr. Freed, and I was directed to his answering machine. I explained my question and asked him to return my call. I believe the ruling was issued on Feb. 22nd so time for perfecting an appeal may be running short. Cumberland County has a toll-free number, 1-888-6970371, extension 6210 or 6211 will then get you to the D.A.'s office. The Dred Scott case involved a slave no longer in bondage when the matter reached the Supreme Court yet the Court issued an outrageous decision that unified the anti-slavery movement. We already have an absolutely outrageous decision by a Shariah-compliant judge and an obviously guilty Shariah-enforcing defendant who will surely escape justice because of the fairness and impartiality of our Fifth Amendment. However, in the process, our First Amendment will be trampled upon. We cannot let this matter be forgotten. If the D.A. will not appeal despite the fact that Pennsylvania law and procedure allows him to do so, we should be doing our utmost to keep his decision in the public eye. To the extent that there is still time, we should be urging him to appeal and seek disapproval of the Feb. 22nd ruling. Bob

USA: An oil rich nation after all
posted at 8:05 am on March 17, 2012 by Jazz Shaw
The President has been traveling on Campaign Tourapalooza 2012 this month and seeking to explain rising oil and gas prices. One of his favorite tag lines has been to say that you "can't just drill your way to lower gas prices." (And he's partly correct there, but more on that later.) But he's also tossing out another figure when he makes these remarks.
"With only 2% of the world's oil reserves, we can't just drill our way to lower gas prices," he said. "Not when we consume 20% of the world's oil."
So is that actually true? Are we an oil barren nation? As John Merline points out at Investors Business Daily, it's not even close to being accurate unless you're really picking and choosing your terms. This is because the figure that Barack Obama is quoting relies on estimates of proved reserves.
But the figure Obama uses - proved oil reserves - vastly undercounts how much oil the U.S. actually contains. In fact, far from being oil-poor, the country is awash in vast quantities - enough to meet all the country's oil needs for hundreds of years.

Any Republican governor of a blue state who manages to balance the budget without raising taxes should be a nominee for Mount Rushmore, to say nothing of president.
Mitt Romney was governor of a state so blue, it's North Korea with more Irish people, and he balanced the budget without raising taxes.
|
Even Ronald Reagan raised taxes as governor of California, imposing a $1 billion tax increase his first year in office. It was the largest tax hike by a governor in the nation's history, raising income, corporate, sales and inheritance taxes. Five years later, Reagan raised taxes again by another $1.5 billion.
To be fair, unlike liberals, he also provided tax rebates that, over his tenure in office, totaled $5.7 billion, including $4 billion in property tax rebates.

Bringing the Light of Freedom to Cuba
The society that Pope Benedict XVI will find when he lands in Cuba next week will be a destitute one, prostrate in every way. The once proud and comparatively wealthy Cubans are now among the poorest in the hemisphere, definitely the least informed and, consequently, the least free. For outsiders, Cuba is a cautionary tale about what happens when a minority with guns takes over and tries to create a socialist paradise. For Cubans, who can't escape, Cuba oscillates between inferno and merely tedious existence.
Cuba is disconnected from the rest of the world, via phone or internet, because the communists in charge want it that way. Information is power, and the last thing the generals in charge want is an empowered population. And the Internet, of course, is the most liberating media of all.

Toomey signs on to Reciprocity Carry Bill. Let's add Rohrer to that list in 2013
Senators Thune and Vitter Introduce Reciprocity Bill with more than 25 Cosponsors
Tuesday, 20 March 2012 16:55
To keep the Senate Gavel in the hands of Harry Reid
Today, Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) introduced legislation to recognize national reciprocity for gun owners who can legally carry concealed firearms in the state where they reside.
The Thune-Vitter bill, S. 2213, was introduced with a huge show of support. Twenty-nine Senators sponsored or cosponsored the bill, and this is, in large part, thanks to you! Because of all your efforts over the last week, the following Senators signed on in support of the legislation:
Ayotte (NH), Barrasso (WY), Boozman (AR), Burr (NC), Chambliss (GA), Coburn (OK), Cochran (MS), Cornyn (TX), Crapo (ID), DeMint (SC), Enzi (WY), Graham (SC), Grassley (IA), Hatch (UT), Inhofe (OK), Isakson (GA), Ron Johnson (WI), Lee (UT), Lugar (IN), McConnell (KY), Paul (KY), Portman (OH), Risch (ID), Rubio (FL), Sessions (AL), Thune (SD), Toomey (PA), Vitter (LA), Wicker (MS) Moran (KS) and Roberts (KS).
This bill, the Respecting States' Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, treats concealed carry as a RIGHT belonging to the people - not a privilege granted by the government.
"Rather than establish a national standard, our bill will ensure that law-abiding citizens are able to carry concealed firearms while at the same time respecting the laws of the respective states they visit," said Sen. Thune.
The Thune-Vitter bill provides national recognition for concealed carry permit holders (who have obtained one from their home states), but it also recognizes the right to carry for residents of Constitutional Carry states (where no permit is required).
This is a huge win for gun owners! Constitutional Carry is currently the law in five states, and more than a dozen states have legislation to move in that direction.
A competing bill, S. 2188, offers reciprocity ONLY for permit holders -- and thus it would prevent many gun owners, who can legally carry in their home states, from carrying firearms when they travel out-of-state. This compromise bill, sponsored by anti-gun Senate Democrats Mark Begich (AK), Joe Manchin (WV) and Max Baucus (MT), would deal a severe blow to the momentum we have in passing Constitutional Carry at the state level.
It is crucial that Senators support the Constitutional Carry-friendly bill, and to oppose any efforts to weaken the Thune-Vitter legislation.
ACTION: Contact your Senators right away. Thank those who have sponsored S. 2213. If your Senators have not yet cosponsored, please urge them to do so ... and to stay off of the Begich-Manchin bill.
There are two different letters, depending on whether your Senators are cosponsoring S. 2213.

On Tuesday, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) released his budget blueprint for the next ten years. The 100-page document lays out a bold and serious proposal to fix Washington's spending problem -- in sharp contrast with our tax-and-spend President and the do-nothing Senate.
There are some very good things in the Ryan proposal, but it comes up short in several areas as well. Below are a few highlights. Be sure to check out AFP's statement (http://www.americansforprosperity.com/032012-americans-prosperity-lauds-chairman-ryan-bold-and-serious-budget-proposal) and our Obama vs. Ryan budget breakdown (http://www.americansforprosperity.com/032112-choice-two-futures-obama-vs-ryan-budget) for more details.
Strong Points
Repeals the President's health care takeover.
Cuts spending by a moderate amount in the first year and by $5.3 trillion over the next ten years when compared to the President's budget.
Proposes pro-growth tax reform by not raising taxes, eliminating special handouts while also cutting overall individual and corporate tax rates.
Through market-based reforms, creates a financially sustainable model for Medicare while preserving seniors' access to and control over their health care decisions.
Empowers states by block granting federal welfare programs, including Medicaid.
Needs Improvement
Replaces automatic "sequestration" spending cuts with cuts spread over a number of years (which can be un-done by future lawmakers).
Doesn't repeal the Death Tax, maintaining current high rates that discourage saving and hurt family-owned farms and businesses.
Doesn't reform Social Security to provide optional personal savings accounts as our sister organization, AFP Foundation, recently profiled (http://www.americansforprosperityfoundation.com/SavingSocialSecurity).
Still calls for big budget deficits every year until the year 2040.
Americans for Prosperity(R) (AFP) is a nationwide organization of citizen leaders committed to advancing every individual's right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans. AFP educates and engages citizens in support of restraining state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits. AFP has more than 1,900,000 members, including members in all 50 states, and 34 state chapters and affiliates. Jonathan S. Tobin 03.19.2012
Last summer, a brief stir was caused when a book published by New York Times reporter Janny Scott uncovered an uncomfortable fact about President Obama: He had been lying about his mother's health insurance problems. During the 2008 campaign and throughout the subsequent debate over his signature health care legislation, the president used his mother's experience as a cancer patient fighting to get coverage to pay for treatment for what her insurer said was a pre-existing condition as an emotional argument to sway skeptics. But as Scott discovered during the course of writing her biography of Anne Dunham, A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mother, it turned out that her correspondence showed that "the 1995 dispute concerned a Cigna disability insurance policy and that her actual health insurer had apparently reimbursed most of her medical expenses without argument."
At the time the White House chose not to dispute Ms. Scott's findings. But apparently the Obama campaign thinks the public's memory is mighty short.

Bristol Palin lays it on the line to Barack Obama
Bristol Palin would lay it out on a telephone line with President Obama but his call has yet to arrive. Washington: Repeal All of Obamacare
|
As Obamacare's second birthday approaches, its devastating impact is undeniable. It will explode federal deficits, cause millions to lose their health coverage, and cause healthcare premiums to increase. The majority of Americans oppose it and it must be repealed in its entirety. Unfortunately Congress is trying to repeal only parts of the law. "Partial repeals," such as this week's vote to repeal only the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), the Obamacare rationing board, muddies the water between those who actually oppose Obamacare and the Democrats facing voters this November who are only pretending to oppose Obamacare.
>> Read our letter to Speaker Boehner urging support for repeal and opposition to repealing only portions of Obamacare.
It is time to send a message to the political class in Washington: our resolve for full repeal has never been stronger. That's why 18 conservative leaders sent a strongly-worded letter to House Republican leadership and why we are, for the first time, co-sponsoring a rally in Washington, DC.
Repeal Rally Saturday, March 24: Heritage Action is co-sponsoring a rally in support of fully repealing Obamacare, the government takeover of the healthcare system.
Join us on Saturday to send a strong message that we do not want the federal government telling us what healthcare to buy, or what treatments we can receive. The more supporters we can get to join our fight, the more the mainstream media, lawmakers and the administration will have to take notice.
Join us Saturday, at Upper State Park in Washington, DC at 12pm, and together we will make a difference. Thank you for standing with us.

MARCH 21, 2012 Legal Experts Challenging Obamacare to the Supreme Court Unveil the Case Against Obamacare
In an opinion piece over the weekend, Washington Post Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes posits that the government may be able to "lure" eight of the nine justices to uphold the Affordable Care Act.
Barnes asserts that even conservative bastion Antonin Scalia might agree with the government that Congress's power to regulate commerce among the states extends to compelling people to purchase inflated health insurance policies.
As proof of this, Barnes points to the High Court's 2005 decision in Gonzales v. Raich. Concurring with the majority opinion to uphold a law regulating home-grown marijuana, Scalia noted that the marijuana was "never more than an instant from the interstate market."
Yet this logic cannot extend to Congress's unprecedented attempt to force people into the health insurance market. Even though every American may be "potentially never more than an instant" from needing health care, there is a fundamental difference between procuring a commodity sold in interstate commerce and sitting at home and doing nothing.
Barnes also argues that Chief Justice John Roberts may also be "gettable" due to his interest in producing narrow opinions and keeping the Court from looking partisan and driven by ideology.
This point is based more in hope than logic. Among other questions, why shouldn't Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan vote the right way, strike down the law, and show they are not partisan, especially since two of them were appointed by President Barack Obama? Barnes is correct, however, that Anthony Kennedy is a potential vote for either side (as Barnes reports, Kennedy has been in the majority in 80% of cases decided 5-4).
So how might the justices actually vote? A panel discussion yesterday at Heritage cast a spotlight on the best arguments the 26 states, NFIB, and their amici have presented to the High Court and predictions of how the justices will react.
Former Attorney General Edwin Meese hosted a distinguished panel including Steve Bradbury, who wrote amicus briefs for Nobel and other economists on the individual mandate, Medicaid, and severability issues; Erik Jaffe for Docs4PatientCare and the Galen Institute (among others); Michael Rosman for former DOJ officials (he also won another landmark Commerce Clause case, United States v. Morrison in 2000); and Carrie Severino for Speaker of the House John Boehner on the individual mandate, 43 Senators on the individual mandate and 36 Senators on severability.
With over 125 briefs filed, our panelists waded through the best arguments and previewed how the justices are likely to respond. How might the justices react to arguments that under the original meaning of the Commerce Clause, the individual mandate to purchase inflated health insurance fails to pass constitutional muster because it attempts to call into existence the thing to be regulated, rather than regulating existing commerce?
Will the justices agree with the 26 states' and NFIB's various amici that the individual mandate is neither "necessary" nor "proper" even if it is deemed to be a regulation of interstate commerce? Or will they accept the government's arguments, leading to virtually unlimited congressional power?

Miller v. Alabama:
The Life without Parole Case
Evan Miller was 14 years old when he robbed and repeatedly beat an intoxicated neighbor with a baseball bat then set the man's trailer on fire and left him to die. The juvenile court, under state law, transferred Miller to adult court based on the nature of the crime, his previous delinquency history, and the fact that he was deemed competent to stand trial. Miller was found guilty of capital murder. Since he was 14 at the time of the crime, Miller was not eligible for capital punishment but rather Alabama's mandatory minimum sentence of life without parole. Read the rest of the story >>

The Employee Rights Act Empowers Workers
By James Sherk
Abstract: Labor unions should serve the interest of employees-not the other way around, as often happens. Legislation introduced in Congress would go a long way toward making this a reality. The Employee Rights Act guarantees workers a private, informed, uncoerced vote on unionizing. The bill also enables employees to re-elect (or unelect) their bargaining representatives every three years. The Employee Rights Act further protects workers from union pressure and extortion. It requires unions to obtain workers' permission before spending their dues on matters unrelated to collective bargaining. It also gives employees the right to vote on accepting a contract or before going on strike. These reforms would shift the balance of power in the workplace from unions to workers.
Labor unions have institutional objectives: to expand their size, income, and influence. Unions want more dues-paying members-whether they improve working conditions or not. Unions also want contracts that protect their institutional powers. These objectives often conflict with the desires of workers. Employees may want a different contract, or they may not want to join a union at all. When these interests clash, the law gives unions substantial powers over employees.

As it stands now, the Supreme Court's ObamaCare decision will be legally illegitimate because one of its members is not qualified to participate in the decision. I'm talking of course about Elena Kagan -- Obama's former Solicitor General who wholeheartedly supported the passage of ObamaCare and oversaw the development of the legal strategy to defend the law in court. By law, Kagan must recuse herself. If she does not recuse herself, she is corrupting the Supreme Court on this issue. According to Sen. Jeff Sessions:
"Justice Kagan's involvement in the preparation of the government's defense of the health-care law began at least as early as January 2010, four months before her nomination and two months before the bill became law. That she would not follow the same course in the health-care case is dubious. These facts require recusal."
Let's be clear: this is a matter of law, not just of legal ethics. The law demands that Kagan must recuse herself. + + Obama Team Obstructing The Truth The Obama team's obstruction of the truth on this issue began many months ago. First, key documents were not disclosed during the Kagan confirmation process that would have at the very least forced her to go on record announcing her recusal on ObamaCare. After she was confirmed, the stonewalling continued. Rep. Lamar Smith (Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee) has tried for eight months to get pertinent information from Attorney General Holder. He sent five letters to Holder and has been met with nothing but stonewalling and obstruction. Yesterday, Rep. Smith published yet another plea for the Obama Justice Department to stop its stonewalling and release key documents on Kagan's involvement in ObamaCare. (See the link below to Rep. Smith's op ed.) Why the stonewalling? Because Obama needs Kagan's vote in support of ObamaCare! + + ACTION: Go On Record Demanding Kagan's Recusal This is the height of political corruption -- pure Chicago-style politics. And it poses a serious threat to the future of this great Republic because Kagan's corrupt vote could cause ObamaCare to be ruled constitutional. That is why Grassfire Nation is giving citizens ONE FINAL OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON RECORD AND DEMAND KAGAN'S RECUSAL. On Thursday, my staff will gather petitions and deliver them to the Supreme Court, the House and Senate Judiciary Committees and the Department of Justice.
Our records show that you have not yet signed this important petition. If we remain silent, the Obama team's lies and stonewalling will win the day, Kagan will take part in next week's hearing, and the Court will be corrupted on the issue of ObamaCare. Please go here now to sign the petition:

"No pecuniary consideration is more urgent, than the regular redemption and discharge of the public debt: on none can delay be more injurious, or an economy of time more valuable." --George Washington
Editorial Exegesis
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
"The Republicans running for president could learn a lesson from House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis. If, as the GOP candidates say, we really have gone miles down the wrong fiscal and economic road, and we surely have, then we require something bold and substantive to take us in the right direction. ... Ryan's plan is a bold stroke. He would cut the top marginal tax rate from its current 35% to 25%. ... Instead of the six brackets under our current punitive tax code, Ryan gives us just two: 25% and 10%. And America's corporate tax -- at 35% the highest rate in the world, with the exception of Sub-Saharan Africa's one-party socialist state of Cameroon -- is cut to 25%, and it largely eliminates the taxation of U.S. companies' overseas profits. Individuals and businesses would be taxed $2 trillion less over 10 years under Ryan's plan than under President Obama's budget, while the federal government would spend more than $5 trillion less. Ryan also scraps something politicians have been promising to get rid of for years, but haven't: the infamous Alternative Minimum Tax. The AMT was passed over 40 years ago to punish a tiny handful of tax-sheltering 'super rich,' but -- surprise, surprise -- soon started slamming the middle-class. ... Ryan's tax reform would help bring America back to what it could, and should, be. It may just be the best weapon in the GOP arsenal." --Investor's Business Daily
Post your opinion on Ryan's plan.

"As of 5:25 am, AP has fully called 16 of the 18 congressional districts [in Illinois], and Santorum carried only three of them, for a total of 10 delegates. ...So the current total is Romney 41, Santorum 10, with 3 too close to call. If the current numbers hold up ... Santorum gets 2 of the remaining 3, leaving a final score of 42-12 Romney. ... The non-Romneys now would have to win about 56% of remaining delegates in order to control a majority of delegates among them. So far, they've won about 42 percent of delegates. That means, by my quick math, that they would need to improve by more than 33 percent over past performance. I don't see any reason to suspect this might happen." --columnist Timothy P. Carney
"There is no reasonable expectation that Santorum can get the delegates necessary to win the nomination. ... Santorum had a good run; an extraordinary run. ... In the run-up to the Iowa Caucuses on January 3, Rick Santorum was a bit player in the back of the chorus line. In the early debates Rick Santorum was at one end showing his lack of support in the polls. ... He will do well in Louisiana on Saturday but there are no election activities after that until April 3; then nothing until the Northeast primary on April 24. It is time. Over the next 30 days this will become blindingly clear. Santorum and Gingrich should bow out and get in behind the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney." --columnist Rich Galen
"[W]hat we see is that Romney won big in metro Chicago, carried the counties with small cities (Rockford, Peoria, Springfield, Champaign-Urbana) Downstate and ran even in the two counties just east of St. Louis, for a solid victory. Romney essentially carried the areas that Barack Obama carried against John McCain in November 2008." --political analyst Michael Barone
"In the general election, President Obama will have all the advantages against Romney that Romney currently has against his Republican rivals. ... And the mainstream media will give Obama more publicity than Romney can buy. How does anyone ever defeat a sitting president then? They do it because they have a message that rings and resonates. ... The question is not which Republican looks better against Barack Obama in the polls today, before the general election campaign begins. The question is which Republican can take the fight to Barack Obama, as Reagan took the fight to Carter, and win the poll that ultimately matters, the vote on Election Day." --economist Thomas Sowell

We're not drilling in the national mall. We're not drilling at your house. I guess we could try to have like, you know, 200 oil rigs in the middle of Chesapeake Bay." --Barack Obama, the great orator
Patting himself on the back: "Change is the decisions we made to stop waiting for a Congress to do something about our oil addiction and finally raised fuel efficiency standards on our cars and on our trucks so that by next decade we will be driving American-made cars that get 55 miles per gallon." --Barack Obama
Tone deaf: "Actually we're not hearing a lot about gas prices right now from constituents. And I think that reflects a growing understanding on the part of the public, that there really is very little that the government and politicians can do." --Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY)
Politics of personal insulting: "If some of these [Republican] folks were around when Columbus set sail, they must have been founding members of the 'flat earth society.' They would not believe that the world was round." --Barack Obama
It's still about him: "[It's] not as trendy to be an Obama supporter, because it's not as fresh. Those [HOPE] posters are kind of rolled up in some closet somewhere. Take a look in the mirror: "[A]s poor as the economy is in Mississippi and in Alabama, for them to vote for the richest guy who endorses the policies that reinforces their economic problems is absolutely throwing reason out the window. But if you're driven by hate and bias, and that is peppered by these talk-radio, hate-radio guys, then you don't even think about the fact that you're suffering under these policies. You vote for the policies that caused your suffering."

Completely incomprehensible: "How can you have in our country that is based upon liberality and liberation, be so anti-liberal. That's toxic waste to our consciousness. It's hard to be an American conservative because that's a contradiction in terms. Now if you take away freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of protest, and lock people out based upon their race, their language and their religion, that's conservative and fascist. America is a liberal idea." --"The Reverend" Jesse Jackson

No woman benefits from even the vaguest insinuation that abortion is an immoral or objectionable option. That's the weak argument made by misogynistic, forced-birth advocates, and it has no place in a dialogue about reproductive freedom. ... Rather than trying to cozy up to the forced-birth camp, women who value their freedom should be proud to say that they like abortion. In fact, they should venerate it whole-heartedly. ... What's not to love?" --abortion activist Jessica DelBalzo

"Congratulations to Obama! He's now increased the debt more in three years than George W. Bush did his entire eight year presidency. A war on women!'" --humorist Frank J. Fleming
"British Prime Minister David Cameron visited Washington last week and, as expected, President Obama apologized to Cameron for the Revolutionary War." --Jodi Miller

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 230 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Romney Wins Illinois As was widely expected, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney won the Illinois primary yesterday. Many commentators do not see the results as a "game changer" because the pattern we have seen all year long prevailed again last night. For example, Romney once again massively outspent his opponents -- perhaps by as much as 7-to-1. That is a luxury he will not have in the general election, and it could be masking other weaknesses. In fact, Obama will likely have a major funding advantage. Romney won big in Chicago but lost every county south of Springfield. Come November, Obama will crush Romney in America's urban centers, as happens in every presidential election. George W. Bush won reelection because he carried Ohio in 2004. He carried Ohio in part because of massive turnout by evangelical voters in rural areas who went to the polls to vote for the marriage amendment on the ballot that year. But as one Washington Post reporter noted, "Romney has won all 10 primaries where evangelicals make up less than half the vote. And he's lost all 7 where they have been [greater than] 50%." The media are quick to dismiss Santorum's support in rural counties. But unless the GOP nominee can motivate these voters and win big in these areas in November, victory could be elusive. With last night's win, Mitt Romney strengthened his position as the clear front-runner. The next contest is Saturday in Louisiana, where Senator Santorum enjoys a commanding lead according to the latest poll. Obama's Energy "Tour de Farce" If you haven't heard yet, Barack Obama is stumping the country on an "energy tour." I'd like to take credit for the title of this item, but the credit goes to Speaker John Boehner, who so aptly named Obama's trip. Obama is stopping at a Nevada solar plant today to "tout investments in 'renewable' energy." Of course, the president can't visit California-based Solyndra again. That solar plant went belly-up after getting $500 million of your hard-earned tax money. What about the plant Obama is visiting today? According to the Nevada Journal, it got $42 million from Washington and $12 million from the state of Nevada, "but currently only five full-time employees operate the plant... That comes out to $10.8 million in tax-dollar subsidies per employee." Does that sound like a wise investment of your tax dollars? Sunshine is great -- when you're at the beach. But it doesn't get me to work and back each day. What is Obama doing about gas prices? Gas now averages $3.87 a gallon -- a new record high for this time of year. Obama may want us to put algae in our tanks, but so far there are no algae fueling stations for him to visit. (How much algae are they putting in Air Force One?) So, for once he's bowing to reality -- and stretching the truth in the process. Here's the really unbelievable part about Obama's energy "tour de farce." Tomorrow Barack Obama is going to Cushing, Oklahoma, to announce his support for the Keystone pipeline. No, not THAT pipeline. The White House announced today that Obama is going to fast-track construction of the southern portion of the pipeline that will run from Oklahoma to the Gulf Coast. But that part of the pipeline does not require presidential approval. Meanwhile, Obama is "slow-tracking" the most important part of the pipeline, which would bring in more oil from Canada. Oklahomans are not amused by the president's "publicity stunt," and oil workers are planning to protest Obama's hypocrisy. As one energy analyst said, "He calls our industry an industry of the past and they'd like us to go away. ...The president is using this, frankly, as a publicity stunt to say he's doing something against high gas prices." Obama's Tax Farce Yesterday House Budget Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan released a new plan to tackle America's growing debt crisis by slashing spending, reforming the tax code and preserving entitlement programs for future generations. Democrats howled with rage. In their view, Washington doesn't have a spending problem. Their solution is always to raise taxes. Barack Obama's solution, which he talks about frequently, is the so-called "Buffett rule" to make the rich "pay their fair share." In his State of the Union address, President Obama devoted more than 500 words to his desire to raise taxes on the rich. His campaign for reelection and the entire Occupy movement are built on class warfare and "spreading the wealth around." So, what about the Buffett rule? The Associated Press reported yesterday that Obama's budget "cure-all" would raise $47 billion over 11 years. That's less than $5 billion a year when he's running deficits well in excess of $1 trillion a year! This is not a serious proposal. Obama is not serious about fiscal responsibility. Remember all his harping about tax deductions for corporate jets last year? That would have saved us a whopping $300 million a year! Please share this report with friends and family members. They need to understand, as we have argued repeatedly, that there are not enough rich people and they are not rich enough to pay for all the government that Obama and the Democrats want. Eventually, they will come after the middle class too. They already did with several hidden taxes in ObamaCare, but they want more. As one liberal Washington Post blogger wrote, "Democrats cannot simply raise taxes on the rich and call it a day." In Good Company I'm pleased to report that my name was included on a list of pro-family, Christian leaders. Others on the list include Chuck Colson, Tony Perkins, Jim Daly, Don Wildmon and Robert George. That's pretty good company! So, what is this list? It is a media "black list" drawn up by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) as part of its so-called "Commentator Accountability Project." GLAAD is working hard to silence conservative, pro-family, Christian voices in the media. My friends, the culture war is real. This is just the latest example of the radical left's intolerance and its assault on free speech. That is why Fox is under attack and why advertisers on the Rush Limbaugh Show are being threatened. It is more evidence of its efforts to force faith and conservatism out of public arena and into the closet. Toulouse Suspect A Radical Islamist French police have cornered the main suspect in a rash of shootings that have left three French soldiers, three Jewish school children and one rabbi dead in the past eight days. You won't be shocked to learn that the suspect is 24 years-old, of Algerian origin and a follower of the "religion of peace." Mohammed Merah reportedly spent time with militant Islamic groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Merah told police he wanted to "avenge Palestinian children" and France's support for the war against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. He has been on a terrorist watch list for years. Apparently they weren't watching him closely enough.

The video that Glenn couldn't stop laughing at You wouldn't think a bunch of firefighters putting out a blaze in drag would be that funny - but on the other hand, perhaps it is.
Glenn says progressives have advanced to Phase 2 Glenn lays out the three basic phases progressives need to have happen before a real fundamental transformation of America can take place. Phase 1 deals with progressives infiltrating education, government, labor unions, media, etc -- pretty obvious that they've completed that step. What's Phase 2? Glenn has that and more on radio today.

Obama's energy secretary: I'd give myself an "A-" President Obama's energy secretary Steven Chu actually said with a straight face that he'd give himself an A- grade for the fine work he's done for Americans everywhere. With rising gas and energy prices - and, as a result, the cost of everything else getting more expensive, it seems laughable he would give himself such high marks. The follow up question should have been - well, what's your goal? If it's collapsing the economy, A- might be right. STORY
The prophetic words of radio commentator Paul Harvey from 1965 Pat had the 1965 audio from legendary radio announcer Paul Harvey who was extremely clairvoyant on the issues that would cause America's decline. It's pretty disturbing to think that progressives have been working on all of these things since at least then -- and America is only just now catching on. Glenn played Harvey's warnings on radio today.
Progressives have realized their dreams The phase of progressivism is over. We have crossed over into new territory, and our biggest problem is that most Americans are not even paying attention. Key parts of our society have been dismantled through the slow infiltration of the progressive movement, and the final push for communism is here -
Glenn explained on GBTV last night.
