All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression.

Did they really think nobody would notice that EVERY Democrat running for election in 2012 voted for this, while making sure it was killed before the President would have to veto?

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate killed Republican-backed attempts to overturn several of President Barack Obama's environmental and energy policies Thursday as lawmakers worked against a March 31 deadline to keep aid flowing to more than 100,000 transportation construction projects around the country.
The two-year, $109 billion transportation bill before the Senate has wide, bipartisan support, but has become a magnet for lawmakers' favorite causes and partisan gamesmanship. Among the amendments batted aside were GOP proposals to bypass Obama's concerns about the Keystone XL oil pipeline, to delay tougher air pollution standards for industrial boilers and to expand offshore oil drilling.
The most biblically hostile President of all time?
David Barton has come out with a list explaining why Barack Obama is possibly the most biblically hostile President of all time. While most of these stories have been seen before, seeing them all laid out in one list is pretty astonishing. Parts 1 and 2 are below, the rest can be seen here!
If you see a story that you believe would be useful and important to our readers, simply respond to this email with a link and a brief description of why it is important. (Even if it may be obvious)

VFP Meeting, March 9, Phoenixville Country Club, 6pm
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA!?
Join us at our next meeting and find out and learn how you can help! Come out and meet two great conservatives who are running in the April 24 primary. Roger Howard is challenging Senator Pileggi for the PA Senate seat in the 9th District and Chris Amentas is challenging Senator Dinniman for the 19th District PA Senate seat.
Roger believes that the Republican leadership in the Senate is not living up the the reforms that were promised in the 2010 elections and that they continue to do business as usual. He will work to restore the respect and trust of the people for the PA Senate. Let him tell us how.
Chris Amentas is a fiscal and social conservative who believes strong and responsible economic policies benefit everyone. He feels that politicians in Harrisburg seem unwilling to make the difficult choices needed to restore economic stability and jobs. Let's learn more.
As you know, we have Republicans in the Governor's seat, in the Senate and in the House yet nothing seems to be getting done. The House has passed numerous important bills that die in the Senate including the Voter ID Bill, HB934. Help change things by meeting these outstanding candidates and supporting them in the coming elections.
Also, Nate Benfield, Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation will provide discussion on Governor Corbett's new budget proposal. Nate will give the Budget Background, a Historical Spending and Budget Process overview; long term threats to the budget, how to "Fireproof the economy" solutions and policy recommendations.
The more we know, the better prepared we will be to send our message to Harrisburg: smaller government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and Constitutional government.

Additionally, in a recent email, we regretfully omitted listing a free market candidate who is running against Union Lackey Mark Mustio:
We hope you can join us for a very exciting activist training event with Erick Erickson of Redstate, American Majority, Heritage Action, Veterans and Patriots United and several other Pennsylvania grassroots organizations coming to Pittsburgh on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
This event, entitled Campaign 2012: Ready, Set, Win!, will offer fellow conservatives all the latest tools to maximize success at the grassroots level and make certain that our shared goal of limiting government and restoring individual liberty is achieved this year at all levels of government.
The special guest speaker at lunch will be Erick Erickson, founder and managing Editor of Redstate.com as well as a political analyst and contributor on CNN. This event is being hosted by Veterans and Patriots United, American Majority and Heritage Action, and is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Coalition for Responsible Government, Pittsburgh Tea Party, Washington County 9.12, Fayette Patriots, We the People (Greene County), and the South Hills 9.12 Group.

Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution
Available to you, your family, your friends, and all Americans.
Over the years, many friends of Hillsdale, those who never attended college here, have said to me: "Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale's Constitution course!"
In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered the "Introduction to the Constitution" lecture series at no charge. Frankly, I wasn't sure what sort of a response a course like this would have.
That's why I was excited to see that YOU and almost 200,000 other people from all over the United States registered for "Introduction to the Constitution."
Thank you very much for registering and participating. I hope you learned a lot from the series.
I was thrilled, not only by the response, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager learn about the Constitution and to defend the principles of liberty that made America so prosperous!
And this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.
Now, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10-week online Constitution course based on the class Hillsdale College students must complete for graduation:
This course on the U.S. Constitution is available online at no charge to anyone who wants to understand and defend the timeless principles of liberty upon which our nation was founded!
I am proud to be teaching part of our NEW "Constitution 101"course and hope YOU will be one of my students again!
"Constitution 101" begins on February 20, 2012, and concludes the week of April 30. It will cover such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and modern challenges to the Constitution during the "Progressive" era.
It is my honor to teach the first class, "The American Mind," and the final class, "The Recovery of the Constitution." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.
Featuring 113 primary source documents, The U.S. Constitution: A Reader was developed for teaching the core course on the U.S. Constitution at Hillsdale College.
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader. Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.
About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs.
Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.
What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.
The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.
There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.
But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.
If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.
But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.
Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.
Resistance to a new bill aimed at limiting foreign law in Pennsylvania courts serves as a case study of how Islamists and their allies operate: peddling falsehoods about Shari'a, painting Muslims as victims, and denying that anyone seeks to institutionalize aspects of Islamic law - even as they vigorously promote that very agenda. With similar legislationbeingdebated across the U.S., understanding their tactics is critical.
At issue in Pennsylvania is House Bill (HB) 2029, which stipulates that "a tribunal shall not consider a foreign legal code or system which does not grant ... the same fundamental liberties, rights and privileges" as guaranteed by the federal and state constitutions. Introduced in November, it follows the American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) model and makes no mention of Shari'a. A preliminary memo sent to legislators last June in the name of Rep. RoseMarie Swanger, HB 2029's chief sponsor, does highlight Islamic law, but she later said that it had been circulated accidentally. Regardless, concerns about Shari'a are warranted due to its many provisions that conflict with the standards of American jurisprudence. For example, it disadvantages women in terms of inheritance, divorce, child custody, and other areas of family law. Shari'a already has shaped numerous cases nationwide, including in Pennsylvania, where one state court decided how assets should be distributed according to Islam.
Pushback against HB 2029 has been led by the Philadelphia office of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-PA) and was punctuated by an interfaith press conference (video here) at CAIR-PA headquarters on December 14. The overall campaign reflects CAIR's usual recipe of distortion, victimology, and contradiction between words and deeds.
Attacks on bills like HB 2029 begin by sowing confusion about Shari'a. Because Islamic law encompasses virtually every facet of life - governing personal activities such as eating and worship, but also forming an oppressive social and legal structure - suit-and-tie Islamists work to emphasize its unthreatening pieces whenever possible. CAIR-PA executive director Moein Khawaja's suggestion that Shari'a should worry Pennsylvanians no more than halal gyros is a fine example of this technique.
March 23rd, 2012, marks an important and unfortunate anniversary. It will have been exactly two years since President Obama forced his unpopular health care takeover onto the American people. Americans for Prosperity has educated the public about the dangers of government interference in the health care market for the past several years, and now the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments and make a ruling on that very issue. As you are most likely aware, the U.S. Supreme Court will be considering the constitutionality of several elements of the President's health care bill. This may be our best chance to overturn this offense against our health care freedoms. That's why Americans for Prosperity will be hosting a Hands Off My Health Care rally for free-market grassroots activists from across the country at the Supreme Court on March 27th. Details can be found below.

Proving That We the PeopleWill Stand in the Gap of Government to Uphold Election Integrity
Here's What You Accomplished IN 22 DAYS:
14,000+ volunteers joined in from 49 states
3.5 MILLION records were entered
192.2 GB total bandwidth
23,529,926 total requests
481,002 were attempted threats to the site
We proved that the unions had nowhere near the 1,000,000 signatures they touted - and that of the actual signatures turned in, at least 25% and possibly up to 40%, had critical errors.
Did the unions legitimately compile the 520,000 signatures necessary to trigger a recall election? We'll let the public decide.
Our goal was neither to support or negate the outcome - our goal was to uphold the integrity of the process.

Bill Kristol - April 11, 2012
The Union League of Philadelphia Luncheon: 12:00 - 1:30PM
An American neoconservative political analyst and commentator, Bill Kristol is the founder and editor of the political magazine The Weekly Standard and a regular commentator on the Fox News Channel. He is a regular panelist on Fox News Sunday and often contributes to the nightly program Special Report with Bret Baier.
Before starting the Weekly Standard in 1995, Mr. Kristol led the Project for the Republican Future, where he helped shape the strategy that produced the 1994 Republican congressional victory. Prior to that, Mr. Kristol served as chief of staff to Vice President Dan Quayle during the first Bush Administration, and to Education Secretary William Bennett under President Reagan.
John Stossel's new book, "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails-but Individuals Succeed," argues: "There ought not to be a law." Stossel explains how politicians promise to solve problems by passing laws, but the laws invariably make our problems worse.
After years of obeying our parents, we are programmed to think that anytime there is a problem, whether it's companies going bankrupt or schools keeping kids stupid, government action is the way to solve it. Using his decades of reporting, Stossel tackles how those intuitive, knee-jerk reactions lead us astray.
Central planning sounds right. It feels good. But it has nothing to do with the realities of economics and science. There is nothing that government can do that we cannot do better as free individuals - and as groups of individuals, working together voluntarily, not at the point of a gun or under threat of a fine. Without big government, our possibilities are limitless.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Dear By revealing the Nazi and Marxist origins of groups such as the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine and the connections between these organizations and terrorist activities around the globe, Muslim Hate Groups on Campus sheds light on the dark undercurrent of anti-Semitism which flows unobstructed through our most prestigious institutions of higher education.
These are not appealing traits in elected officials, but sadly, they aptly describe many Republican lawmakers across the country feverishly working to implement ObamaCare. Would you believe that Governor Tom Corbett is among those Republicans diligently complying with ObamaCare?
Despite the fact that Pennsylvania is party to the lawsuit being heard before the Supreme Court, Tom Corbett is implementing the law in our state.
ObamaCare requires that each state set up what is known as a Health Insurance Exchange. In theory, these exchanges will be one-stop online shops where individuals will pool together to purchase insurance.
Without a state-created exchange, the individual mandate cannot be enforced.
As in all bureaucracies, there are some major downfalls, not the least of which is the anticipated spike in the cost of insurance.
Other significant issues include:
The federal government will dictate what insurers may participate
The federal government will decide minimum coverage-potentially including such elective procedures as breast augmentation and face lifts
The federal government will stipulate how the exchange is run
I could go on, but I'm certain you recognize the theme. The federal government will control every aspect of our health care.
Yet, Governor Corbett claims that establishing CorbettCare will protect Pennsylvania citizens from undue federal regulation.
The opposite is actually true. Creation of the CorbettCare Exchange does great harm and forces onerous federal regulations on our state.
Governor Corbett is readily ceding state Sovereignty to the central government, and relinquishing all authority on health care matters. Our state has already requested and accepted over $33 million to set up the exchange!
Merely accepting and spending federal funds requires absolute obedience to federal government regulations, and the loss of state sovereignty.
A key responsibility of state officials is to protect our sovereignty, yet our legislators may be considering legislation to assist in the establishment of CorbettCare.
And like obedient little children, these turncoats expect you to forget their empty promises, ignore their campaign rhetoric, and blame the Federal Government for all of the many losses you will suffer as a result.
Click here to sign the petition demanding that the over $33 million in grant funds be returned and all contingency plans to submit to ObamaCare be abandoned immediately!
If you'd like to tell Governor Corbett how you feel about this scheme, you can reach him at 717-787-2500.
There are over 1 billion reasons why some states are establishing these exchanges-and each reason has a dollar sign attached.
With over $1 billion at stake, and more than $700 million already sent to complicit states, it's easy to understand why greedy politicians have their hands out before the court can rule.
These funds are being used all over the country to enrich political allies and the well-connected. Millions of your taxpayer dollars are being wasted, and you are footing the bill while they steal your freedoms.
Those hundreds of millions will never be returned to our treasury-unless you and I do something to force the issue now.
Tell your legislators that even if the Supreme Court fails to overturn ObamaCare, you expect them to protect your rights and jealously guard our state sovereignty by refusing to establish a state exchange.
For Liberty,
Deb Wells Interim State Coordinator Alabama Campaign for Liberty
P.S. After you sign the petition demanding our state return all ObamaCare Exchange grant funds, please pass this message along to your contacts!

On February 18, 2011, 98 Republicans joined with the whole of the Democratic Caucus in the House to defeat legislation offered up by Representative Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee designed to ensure the House GOP lived up to is "$100 billion in cuts" pledge to nowhere.
As I noted at the time, "Blackburn's amendment, by its own description, would have 'reduce[d] spending by 5.5% in 8 non-securiy spending subsections of the bill and reduce[d] Legislative Branch appropriations by 11%.'"
Ushering Republicans across the aisle to join with Democrats in a refusal to cut the budget was House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Republican Whip Kevin McCarthy.
It was the first major vote that separated the men from the boys. It showed who the fiscally responsible were and who the fiscally irresponsible were. Eric Cantor himself had co-sponsored the same Blackburn measure three separate times. But this time, the tea party had the votes to actually get it passed. So Cantor led squishy Republicans to the Democrats. And our debt soon went up to over $15 trillion.
Standing with Marsha Blackburn and the conservatives wanting to cut the size and scope of Washington was Congressman Don Manzullo of Illinois.
Following Eric Cantor across the aisle to join the Democrats was Adam Kinzinger, who campaigned as a tea party congressman intent on reducing Washington. His vote showed clearly he really did not mean it.
Illinois has redistricted Manzullo and Kinzinger into the same district. Yesterday, Eric Cantor endorsed Kinzinger. Conservatives better fight back and support Manzullo.
Earlier today, the Senate began voting on a series of 30 amendments to the highway bill (S.1813). The three important amendments regarding energy subsidies that we referenced earlier (2 bad, 1 good) were postponed until next week. However, here is a list of other commonsense amendments that were voted down by Democrats. It is truly sad that at a time when gas prices are at a record high Democrats are willing to place the interests of the eco-radicals ahead of American consumers. They also showed that, once again, they have no interest in creating jobs or cutting spending.
The below video is a report by Jake Tapper regarding the doling out of plum jobs to those who brought in the most money to the Obama campaign. It aired in June of last year, but came up again in the wake of this post by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air.
"About 80% of those who collected more than $500,000 for Obama took 'key administration posts' as defined by the White House."
Tapper points out that Obama promised "a new way of doing business." In fact, then-Senator Obama, remarking on the influence of money in politics, said in 2008 "the time for that kind of politics is over." Yet President Obama handed out more of these primo posts to donors in just two years than President Bush handed out in four.
Sympathize most deeply with the tragedy of Michelle "Lady Macbeth" Obama,
who, thanks to the oppressive white male hegemony against which she so rightly rails, has been constantly thwarted and frustrated in her arduous rise from Princeton to Harvard to prestigious law firms to the black D.C. ghetto in which she now resides. Say: "She's angry and she has EVERY right to be!"
Bang for your buck: that's what the Freedom Center provides. Ammunition for the culture war against the Left: that's what your contribution buys. So please act now and help us in the fight we are waging on many fronts for America's future. America is under assault from within and without. There is no time to lose.
Tonight begins the celebration of the Jewish holiday of Purim commemorating a historical incident of little relevance to the present day, involving a plot to exterminate the Jewish people. It is one of those holidays, that like most Jewish holidays, is inconvenient for liberal clergy because it involves violence and nationalism. And unlike Chanukah, on Purim, the Jews did not wait around to be massacred for a decade or two before they fought back, instead they carried out a preemptive strike.
During the winter, liberal pundits occasionally write horrified articles about the origins of Chanukah in a violent rebellion and a civil war between nationalists and internationalists, a handful of narrow-minded fanatics who wanted to keep their rituals and customs and were willing to die for it-- and the enlightened elites in the capital who were on the board the imperial train and eager to reeducate the barbarians in the settlements out of their beliefs.
Purim summons up fewer of these articles as if the revisionists are too tired to even deal with the actual story and throw up their hands and make up their own. At the Huffington Post, a liberal clergywoman explains that the holiday which culminated with bloody street fighting and public executions actually teaches us to forgive other people and not to take revenge on them. Another suggests that the message of Purim is speaking out against prejudice. The head of the radical left wing group, Uri L'Tzedek, explains that Purim is really about promoting progressive taxation. I'll spare you the transgender Purim which turns out to be a metaphor for coming out of the closet.
Jewish holidays often make a poor fit with liberal pieties. Three of them end with mass bloodshed, not with reconciliation commissions, suggesting that life is a zero sum game and that those who try to kill you, deserve what's coming to them. There is nothing vague or ephemeral about those holidays, they mark historical events and the constant presence of death as a reality in the lives of men and nations. They testify to a G-d of history who is less concerned with feelings and tolerance than with justice and truth.
Some accuse Jews of being obsessed with the Holocaust. It would be more accurate to accuse of us being obsessed with Egyptian slavery, the Amalekite raids, the Philistines persecutions, the Babylonian holocaust, the Syrian-Greek repressions, the Roman holocausts and on and on for more pages of history than most would care to hear until we reach the present day.
Like old men we feel our history in our bones, we can chart our injuries, locate our frailties and then advance slowly but surely into the future. We have been doing this for a few thousand years, we may yet do it for a few thousand more. We are the turtle winning the race with those who would kill us, plodding on with fresh wounds that will scar over in time, while they sit down, gasp and cannot go on any longer.
The 10 Terrible Provisions of Obamacare You May Not Know
Obamacare includes such a variety and volume of negative policies that it's hard to keep track of them all. Here is a list of 10 terrible provisions that every American should be aware of:
It increases taxes on families earning over $250,000. In 2013, the employee portion of the Medicare payroll tax will increase from 1.45 percent to 2.35 percent for families earning $250,000 or more and individuals earning $200,000 or more. The income threshold is not indexed for inflation, so more and more middle-income families will be hit by the tax hike as time goes on.
It adds a new tax to investment income. The increased payroll tax rate is also applied to high-earners' investment income for the first time beginning in 2013. It will hit capital gains, dividends, rents, and royalties, discouraging investment and harming economic growth.
It puts new limitations on those with HSAs and FSAs. Starting in 2012, Obamacare restricts the products that consumers may purchase with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA)-such as over-the-counter medications-and increases the penalty for such non-qualified uses of HSAs. It also limits the amount taxpayers may deposit into an FSA to $2,500 a year in 2013.
It adds a new tax on those who purchase medical devices. In 2013, a 2.3 percent excise tax will be applied to medical devices, causing a $28.5 billion tax hike on medical device manufacturers. The industry will pay for this tax by reducing jobs and passing additional costs on to consumers.
It penalizes marriage.Obamacare creates new taxpayer-funded subsidies for the low and middle classes to purchase health coverage, but the structure of the subsidies allows two individuals to claim more in subsidies alone than if married. This discriminates against married couples and discourages marriage at almost all age and income levels.
Disaster Relief Shows Why Government Should Protect - Not Harm - Good Samaritans
The devastating tornadoes that ripped through the South and Midwest last week left broken homes and shattered lives in their wake. While the wind and rain still blew, churches, ministries, and charitable organizations fanned out across many states to help pick up the pieces. Public policy should respect the vital role these Good Samaritans play and, at the very least, not harm their ability to serve the common good.
In southern Indiana, the New Albany Salvation Army set up food canteens to feed survivors. In Missouri, volunteers from Mennonite Disaster Service helped survivors clean up debris and moved livestock to safe facilities. And in Alabama, Catholic Charities USA helped provide sanitation services and tree removal for storm victims.
Whether it's a hurricane in New Orleans, an earthquake in Haiti, or tornadoes in Illinois, Good Samaritans roll up their sleeves and help in whatever ways they can. And they often stick around to help long after the government shelters are disbanded.
What tends to motivate local groups like this is faith. Spurred by a sense of calling to love their neighbors and care for those in need, these groups' religious identity is crucial to their effectiveness.
Sadly, these are some of the very organizations that will suffer under Obamacare. In particular, Obamacare's anti-conscience mandate will force insurance plans, including those carried by religious employers, to provide coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, and sterilization-even if such coverage violates their beliefs. If employers choose to drop insurance coverage or not to comply with the mandate, they will face steep fines.
These fines on faith could divert dollars to Washington bureaucrats instead of charity-run relief efforts in Alabama and Indiana. As a result of these fines, some faith-based organizations may have to eliminate programs and staff and perhaps even shut down completely.
Only houses of worship will be exempted from the mandate; most groups like these relief agencies will not. That's because the Obama Administration has decided that only churches that serve people of their own faith should be protected as "religious organizations." According to this logic, neither the Salvation Army nor Catholic Charities USA qualifies as religious, because they provide food, water, and shelter to whoever needs it without first stopping to ask about their theology. Under Obamacare, not even Jesus and his disciples or the Good Samaritan would be considered religious enough to qualify.
By weakening their religious liberty and identity, Obamacare threatens not only religious groups and individual business owners but also threatens the common good they serve. Obamacare needs to be repealed, and our public officials need to protect the good work that faith-based groups do in responding in times of need.

The line between the protection of civil liberties and domestic security has been and continues to be blurred by the role of CAIR, the Islamic defense group in the United States.
Most recently CAIR came to the defense of a soi-disant suicide terrorist in Tampa who admitted that he was plotting an attack and made a martyrdom video. He is currently facing charges based on the attempted use of weapons of mass destruction. However, despite overwhelming evidence and an admission, the executive director of CAIR in San Francisco proceeded to call the arrest a "scam." Other CAIR executives claimed the entire episode was orchestrated by the FBI or, at the very least, had the elements of "entrapment."
Although CAIR defenders alleged that this plot was hatched by an unstable man, the planning for the violence was intricate and the adherence to Islamic principles consistent, i.e., Muslim blood is more valuable than that of disbelievers.
Yet what this incident reaffirms is the CAIR defense strategy even in the face of overwhelming evidence. As CAIR officials see it, the FBI and law enforcement agencies are the enemy. Those who promote violence do so out of justifiable motives and are in all cases the genuine victims.

One of the few Americans with the distinction of having been a terrorist's defense attorney has been named number three in command at the Justice Department.
Attorney General Eric Holder announced Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division Tony West's promotion to Acting Associate Attorney General last week.
Harvard- and Stanford-educated with a long legal career, West also has the distinction of having defended American terrorist John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban member sentenced to 20 years in prison after being captured in Afghanistan fighting on the enemy's side in 2001.
"The American people need to know who is controlling the debate in the Justice Department about terrorist detainees, how they are treated and where they are going to be tried." Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch explained to The Daily Caller.
Twenty years ago at Harvard Law School, a 30-year-old Barack Obama urged his fellow law students to "open up your hearts and minds to the words of Professor Derrick Bell," a man who courageously spoke "the truth." Central to that "truth" was the belief that white racism is a permanent, ineradicable aspect of American life, and that "slavery is, as an example of what white America has done, a constant reminder of what white America might do."
In a little over a week, our "sister" organization, ACT! for America Education, www.ACTforAmericaEducation.org, will release its school textbook analysis report entitled "Education or Indoctrination: The Treatment of Islam in 6th Through 12th Grade American Textbooks."
The column by Raymond Ibrahim (below, highlights added) speaks to just one aspect of what our research uncovered, as well as how our report addresses this historical revisionism.
You will NOT want to miss this report-and forward information about it to everyone you know.
Stay tuned.
The Historical Reality of the Muslim Conquestsby Raymond Ibrahim Jihad Watch March 1, 2012 http://www.meforum.org/3182/history-muslim-conquestsBecause it is now almost axiomatic for American school textbooks to whitewash all things Islamic (see here for example), it may be instructive to examine one of those aspects that are regularly distorted: the Muslim conquests.
Few events of history are so well documented and attested to as are these conquests, which commenced soon after the death of the Muslim prophet Muhammad (632) and tapered off circa 750. Large swathes of the Old World-from the India in the east, to Spain in the west-were conquered and consolidated by the sword of Islam during this time, with more after (e.g., the Ottoman conquests).
By the standards of history, the reality of these conquests is unassailable, for history proper concerns itself with primary sources; and the Islamic conquests are thoroughly documented. More importantly, the overwhelming majority of primary source materials we rely on do not come from non-Muslims, who might be accused of bias. Rather, the foremost historians bequeathing to posterity thousands of pages of source materials documenting the Islamic conquests were not only Muslims themselves; they were-and still are-regarded by today's Muslims as pious and trustworthy scholars (generically, the ulema).
Among the most authoritative books devoted to recounting the conquests are: Ibn Ishaq's (d. 767) Sira ("Life of Muhammad"), the oldest biography of Muhammad; Waqidi's (d. circa. 820) Maghazi ("Military Campaigns [of the Prophet]"); Baladhuri's (d. 892) Futuh al-Buldan ("Conquests of the Nations"); and Tabari's (d.923) multi-volume Tarikh al-Rusul wa al-Muluk, ("History of Prophets and Kings"), which is 40 volumes in the English translation.
Taken together, these accounts (which are primarily based on older accounts-oral and written-tracing back to Muhammad and his successors) provide what was once, and in the Muslim world still is, a famous story: that Allah had perfected religion (Islam) for all humanity; that he commanded his final prophet (Muhammad) and community (Muslims) to spread Islam to the world; and that the latter was/is to accept it either willingly or unwillingly (jihad).
It should be noted that contemporary non-Muslim accounts further validate the facts of the conquests. The writings of the Christian bishop of Jerusalem Sophronius (d.638), for instance, or the chronicles of the Byzantine historian Theophanes (d.758), to name a couple, make clear that Muslims conquered much of what is today called the "Muslim world."
According to the Muslim historical tradition, the majority of non-Muslim peoples of the Old World, not desiring to submit to Islam or its laws (Sharia), fought back, though most were eventually defeated and subsumed.
The first major conquest, renowned for its brutality, occurred in Arabia itself, immediately after Muhammad's death in 632. Many tribes which had only nominally accepted Islam's authority, upon Muhammad's death, figured they could break away; however, Muhammad's successor and first caliph, or successor, Abu Bakr, would have none of that, and proclaimed a jihad against these apostates, known in Arabic as the "Ridda Wars" (or Apostasy Wars). According to the aforementioned historians, tens of thousands of Arabs were put to the sword until their tribes re-submitted to Islam.
The Ridda Wars ended around 634. To keep the Arab Muslims from quarreling, the next caliph, Omar, launched the Muslim conquests: Syria was conquered around 636, Egypt 641, Mesopotamia and the Persian Empire, 650. By the early 8th century, all of north Africa and Spain to the west, and the lands of central Asia and India to the east, were also brought under Islamic suzerainty.
The colorful accounts contained in the Muslim tradition are typified by constant warfare, which normally goes as follows: Muslims go to a new region and offer the inhabitants three choices: 1) submit (i.e., convert) to Islam; 2) live as second-class citizens, or "dhimmis," paying special taxes and accepting several social debilitations; 3) fight to the death.
Centuries later, and partially due to trade, Islam came to be accepted by a few periphery peoples, mostly polytheists and animists, who followed no major religion (e.g., in Indonesia, Somalia), and who currently form the outer fringes of the Islamic world.
Ironically, these exceptions are now portrayed as the rule in America's classrooms: many textbooks suggest or at least imply that most people who converted to Islam did so under no duress, but rather through peaceful contacts with merchants and traders; that they eagerly opted to convert to Islam for the religion's intrinsic appeal, without noting the many debilitations conquered non-Muslims avoided-extra taxes, second-rate social status, enforced humiliation, etc.-by converting to Islam. In fact, in the first century, and due to these debilitations, many conquered peoples sought to convert to Islam only to be rebuffed by the caliphate, which preferred to keep them as subdued-and heavily taxed-subjects, not as Muslim equals.
Meanwhile, as U.S. textbooks equivocate about the Muslim conquests, in the schoolrooms of the Muslim world, the conquests are not only taught as a matter of course, but are glorified: their rapidity and decisiveness are regularly portrayed as evidence that Allah was in fact on the side of the Muslims (and will be again, so long as Muslims uphold their communal duty of waging jihad).
The dissimulation of how Islam was spread in the early centuries contained in Western textbook's mirrors the way the word jihad, once inextricable to the conquests, has also been recast. Whereas the word jihad has throughout the centuries simply meant armed warfare on behalf of Islam, in recent years, American students have been taught the Sufi interpretation of jihad-Sufis make up perhaps one percent of the Islamic world and are often seen as heretics with aberrant interpretations-which portrays jihad as a "spiritual-struggle" against one's vices.
Contrast this definition of jihad with that of an early edition of the venerable Encyclopaedia of Islam. Its opening sentence simply states, "The spread of Islam by arms is a religious duty upon Muslims in general.... Jihad must continue to be done until the whole world is under the rule of Islam.... Islam must completely be made over before the doctrine of jihad [warfare to spread Islam] can be eliminated." Muslim legal manuals written in Arabic are even more explicit.
Likewise, the Islamic conquests narrated in the Muslim histories often mirror the doctrinal obligations laid out in Islam's theological texts-the Koran and Hadith. Muslim historians often justify the actions of the early Islamic invaders by juxtaposing the jihad injunctions found in Islamic scriptures.
It should also be noted that, to Muslims, the Islamic conquests are seen as acts of altruism: they are referred to as futuh, which literally means "openings"-that is, the countries conquered were "opened" for the light of Islam to enter and guide its infidel inhabitants. Thus to Muslims, there is nothing to regret or apologize for concerning the conquests; they are seen as for the good of those who were conquered (i.e., the ancestors of today's Muslims).
In closing, the fact of the Muslim conquests, by all standards of history, is indisputable. Accordingly, just as less than impressive aspects of Western and Christian history, such as the Inquisition or conquest of the Americas, are regularly taught in U.S. textbooks, so too should the Muslim conquests be taught, without apology or fear of being politically incorrect. This is especially so because it concerns history-which has a way of repeating itself when ignored, or worse, whitewashed. RJC Releases New Web Video: "Deeds"
Even Leading Democrats Have Been Highly Critical of Obama's Actions on Israel
Washington, D.C. (March 8, 2012) -- The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) released a web ad today, entitled "Deeds," which points out that even leading Democrats have been highly critical of President Obama's actions on Israel.
During President Obama's speech at the recent AIPAC policy conference, he said of Israel, "But as you examine my commitment, you don't just have to count on my words. You can look at my deeds."
Looking at the President's deeds regarding Israel gives supporters of a strong U.S.-Israel alliance much to be concerned about.
The RJC's new web ad highlights the fact that those concerns are not just Republican concerns, but have been expressed by top Democratic leaders as well. This ad shows what Democrats are saying, in their own words, about the President's policies on Israel.
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "On critical issues such as secure borders and Jerusalem, President Obama has failed to act to enhance the bilateral relationship, to build trust between U.S. and Israeli leaders, or to increase the security of the United States and Israel. In fact, he's done just the opposite. That is something that American Jews, on both sides of the political aisle, will remember in November."

News from The Hill:
Senate blocks Keystone pipeline approval plan By Ben Geman
The Senate has rejected a GOP plan to approve construction of the Keystone oil pipeline after President Obama made personal calls to Democrats urging them to oppose it.
The 56-42 vote staves of an election-year rebuke of Obama, but will give political ammunition to backers of TransCanada Corp.'s plan to build a pipeline connecting Alberta's massive tar sands projects to Gulf Coast refineries.
With gas prices rising, the issue has become an election-year political weapon for Republicans, who say President Obama is passing up a chance to boost U.S. energy security and create jobs.

Call it what you want -- a circus, a sideshow, or just plain old political rhetoric -- but for the past week America has watched the media elite and some in Washington bend over backward to turn attention away from an issue that is fundamental to the future of this country: Obamacare's attack on individual liberty. While those who favor its mandates may think they have changed the debate and quelled opposition, they are sorely mistaken.
It all stems from a decision by the Obama Administration to mandate that religious employers, including schools, hospitals, and charities, provide health care coverage for abortion-inducing drugs and contraception despite the fact that such coverage is in total contradiction of many of these groups' core religious beliefs. Some have attempted to make this a debate about other issues, but despite their efforts, the core complaint about this anti-conscience mandate remains: The President's policy is an unprecedented attack on all Americans' rights as protected by the First Amendment. And those who prize religious liberty aren't backing down.
As Americans are grappling with higher gas prices, President Obama has a supposed answer -- $1 billion in funding for "clean" vehicles, despite poor consumer demand for the green machines.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 243 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS
Your Reaction
We had a tremendous response to our online poll asking how folks felt about the state of the GOP presidential race. Just 18% of you thought it was time to rally to Governor Mitt Romney, and only 7% felt we needed a new candidate at this late stage.
The overwhelming majority our supporters -- 74% -- want GOP primary voters to unite behind one conservative alternative. And of the folks who selected that option, Senator Rick Santorum was the clear winner with 82%, compared to 16% for Newt Gingrich and 1% who selected Ron Paul.
"Tolerant" Left Targets Rush
Our friends at Breitbart.com and Human Events report today that Rush Limbaugh's Facebook page and other media websites are being swamped with messages from angry liberals. Many are vile and some even including death threats. How tolerant of them. Here is a small sampling:
"Execute Rush, now!" "Don't just drop sponsorship someone kill this pig now please!!!!" "crossing fingers for a huge heart attack." "I hope someone murders rush and I hope it hurts." "I think karma got a death grip on breitbart, I think his passing is inspirational. Hopefully rush will die next."
As the last message demonstrates, many on the left rejoiced when Andrew Breitbart died. The posts were disgusting and obscene. The media will never report it. And yet they will bend over backwards to blame conservatives and the Tea Party for the breakdown of political discourse.
Steel yourselves, my friends. The days and weeks ahead are going to be brutal. The left's attempt to silence Rush Limbaugh is just another example of its totalitarian impulse and its war against traditional values.
It is also a good example of why all the talk about "common ground" and "truces" is so misguided. Where is the common ground between the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street? What truce can be achieved between those who believe in socialism and those who believe in freedom?
Only one side can prevail in America's cultural war. It wasn't a fight conservatives started and we can't hide from it. But I intend to do everything I can -- for the sake of my children and grandchildren -- to win it!
Up, Up And Away!
According to the website californiagasprices.com, a Shell station in Woodland Hills, California, yesterday was charging $5.99 a gallon for diesel. The national average for regular unleaded is just over $3.70 a gallon -- a record high for this time of year. What is Obama doing about it? He says there isn't much the government can do to lower the price of gas.
John Merline of Investor's Business Daily isn't buying it and neither should you. He has an outstanding article today listing several ways the government adds to the cost of gas -- from
how Obama's EPA was shutting down coal companies, leading to higher electricity costs. Merline reports that new EPA regulations are also shutting down refineries too, leading to higher gasoline prices. Here's an excerpt:
"Strict environmental rules also can drive smaller refiners out of business, resulting in less competition, tighter supplies and higher prices. Four refineries recently closed on the East Coast, for example. 'That's going to make gasoline more expensive in the region,' said John Hofmeister, the former Shell Oil CEO ...
"And as early as next year, the EPA could add dramatically to refinery costs, requiring them to meet new standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The petroleum industry figures this 'regulatory tsunami' will add 25 cents to each gallon of gasoline and shutter seven more refineries."
We should be expanding infrastructure, adding more refineries and pipelines, not shutting them down, putting people out of work!
And speaking of pipelines, the Senate is scheduled to vote today on an amendment allowing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring more Canadian oil to our Gulf Coast refineries. Under the circumstances, that would seem like a great idea. But Politico reported this morning that Obama has been personally calling Democrat senators and urging them to vote against it.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell blasted Obama and the Democrats' stonewalling on the Keystone pipeline. Here's what he said on the Senate floor this morning:
"There's a report this morning that President Obama is personally making phone calls to Democrat Senators he thinks might vote for this amendment. He's asking them not to. And, frankly, it's hard to even comprehend how out of touch he is on this issue.
"I mean, think about it: at a moment when millions are out of work, gas prices are skyrocketing and the Middle East is in turmoil, we've got a president who's up making phone calls trying to block a pipeline here at home. It's unbelievable.
"What we're seeing in Congress this week is a study in contrasts. On the one hand you've got a Republican-controlled House that's about to pass a bipartisan jobs bill that would help entrepreneurs and innovators by getting Washington out of the way. And today we've got a Democratic-controlled Senate trying to line up votes against amendments that would create jobs -- and a president lobbying against the biggest one."
As I write, news is breaking that Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid has confirmed that Democrats have the votes to kill the Keystone pipeline amendment and thus the thousands of new jobs it would have created.
This leads me to our latest talking point: "Gas prices have nearly doubled since Obama took office. His solution? Put algae in your tank."

Barack Obama accused by two men of inappropriate behavior
The men complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Obama that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the university that gave them financial payouts to leave the journal. The agreements also included language that bars the men from talking about their departures.
In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Obama and his administration repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the journal. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which men leveled complaints.
Many (including me) have fretted that the Republicans' bloody primary season may be hurting their chances of beating Barack Obama in the fall. The Hill takes it one step further: "Republicans fear rough primary could cost them the House and the Senate."
For months, Republicans had been bullish about their prospects for widening their margin in the House and picking off Democratic senators. But some are now questioning whether they could be done in if Mitt Romney limps out of the primary a severely weakened nominee.
Wow. Sort of a perfect storm. On the other hand, the same edition of The Hill also headlines: "Obama campaign says long GOP primary hurts president's fundraising."
President Obama's reelection campaign said Wednesday that the prolonged Republican primary is hurting its fundraising. ... The Obama campaign raised $68 million in the last part of 2011, a low number after speculation last year - quickly tamped down by the campaign in 2012 - that Obama could raise $1 billion for his reelection campaign.
Granted, it is conceivable that the long campaign could have both of those effects; more likely, however, nervous politicians will blame it for whatever they are worried about at the moment. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that this year's relatively lengthy campaign is no coincidence. Believing that its candidate was chosen too quickly in 2008, the party changed its rules to ensure a lengthier process. The GOP discouraged states from moving their primaries and caucuses forward, and adopted a rule that any primary held prior to April 1 must award delegates on a proportional basis. This has had the intended consequence; i.e., preventing any one candidate from running away with the race early.
Political analyst Charlie Black makes the point succinctly:
"The reason the race is dragging on has nothing to do with who's running for president, it has to do with the fact the [Republican] party changed the rules," said Charlie Black, a GOP strategist who is informally advising the Romney campaign.
It will be impossible to tell before November what consequences this year's more extended primary season has had.
Last night the spirit of Breitbart lived on with the release of a video showing Harvard law student Barack Obama celebrating the radical "critical race theorist" Derrick Bell. Bell can't be written off as "some guy in my neighborhood" as Obama did with William Ayers, or sloughed off like Rev. Jeremiah Wright with the "I-didn't-really-listen-to-his-sermons" excuse. Obama used to assign Bell in his class on "race and the law" at the University of Chicago. Now we know Obama has an affinity for Bell. Let's see if the mainstream media asks about this the way the media used to ask Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan about their supposed ties to the John Birch Society. I'm not holding my breath.
The case of Derrick Bell is quite useful not so much in illuminating that Obama is not so secretly a radical, but as yet another example of the utter bankruptcy of the liberal imagination. One of Bell's best-known works is his supposed moral fable about American racism called "Space Traders." The story, later made into an HBO short film, features outer space aliens coming to the United States and offering to exchange gold and other natural resources in return for taking America's black population back to the cosmos. We're all supposed to feel guilty because the story ends with the Power Structure of the nation agreeing to the deal, forcibly detaining African-Americans and handing them over to ET. The story doesn't exactly pack the moral force of Uncle Tom's Cabin, to be sure, but we are meant to take it seriously anyhow.
Who would believe such a ridiculous story? Ask yourself this clarifying question: who is it that believes that human beings are a liability, that overpopulation is a crisis, and that physical "natural resources" are the larger asset than human beings who come with two hands and a brain? It is liberals who believe this most fervently, not the advocates of free markets and individual liberty. Liberals have long hooted at Julian Simon and others who argue that people are the "ultimate resource," and not physical matter, especially not gold. Only a liberal would find "Space Traders" to be a plausible scenario. No pro-life president would ever make Bell's deal; it would require a liberal president like . . . Barack Obama! (Is that so far-fetched? He's shown he'll sell out just about any of his core constituencies when it's in his political interest.)
Derrick Bell unwittingly reveals who the real racists are these days, and along the way reveals why it is that liberal guilt exists. Bell curve indeed.
We invited Professor Knott to write something that would allow us to bring the book to the attention of our readers and give us a preview of its findings. He has kindly responded:
Rush to Judgment challenges the conventional wisdom regarding the presidency of George W. Bush and argues that a revisionist account of the 43rd President, at least regarding his national security policies, is already long overdue. Rush to Judgment defends Bush's Hamiltonian exercise of executive power, but most importantly it offers a critique of the professoriate for its misuse of scholarship for partisan political purposes.
While presidents have always been the target of heated rhetoric from their political opponents and the media, much of the demagoguery directed toward Bush came from historians, law professors, and political scientists, including those who consider themselves "presidential scholars." Far too many of these scholars abandoned any pretense of objectivity and seemed unwilling to place Bush's actions in the War on Terror into historical context.
These scholars helped shape the perception that Bush's presidency was one of the worst in American history. George W. Bush caused too many of those who celebrate the power of reason to wallow in, as Richard Hofstadter once put it, "the qualities of heated exaggeration, suspiciousness, and conspiratorial fantasy."
Princeton historian Sean Wilentz led the assault by claiming in a highly publicized essay entitled "The Worst President in History?" that Bush would be held in the "greatest contempt for expanding the powers of the presidency beyond the limits laid down by the U.S. Constitution."
Wilentz's Ivy League colleague Eric Foner added that Bush had "taken his disdain for law even further [than Nixon]" and "sought to strip people accused of crimes of rights that date as far back as the Magna Carta."
Historian Joyce Appleby claimed that "the founders never imagined a Bush administration" and issued a clarion call in 2006 for the public to "wake up to this constitutional crisis."
Pulitzer Prize winner Joseph Ellis said of Bush in 2009 that he "might very well be the worst president in American history," while Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., once described by David Broder as "James Carville in a cap and gown," argued that Bush presented "the most dramatic, sustained and radical challenge to the rule of law in American history."
A report issued in 2009 by a group known as "Historians Against the War," featuring history faculty from Columbia, Yale, Trinity College, New York University and Yeshiva University, featured Bush and Cheney seated on a pile of human skulls.
The observations of prominent law professors, including Harold Koh, now the State Department's legal advisor, were equally hysterical. Koh argued that the Bush administration's disregard for international law earned it a place in the "axis of disobedience," along with Kim Jong-Il's North Korea and Saddam Hussein's Iraq, and warned that "if the president has commander-in-chief power to commit torture, he has the power to commit genocide, to sanction slavery, to promote apartheid, to license summary execution."
Neal Katyal, President Obama's acting Solicitor General, claimed that Bush's policies at Guantanamo Bay "rocked[ed] the constitutional order" and that Bush's claims of "unchecked power" could "lead to massive abuse."
President Obama's nominee to head the Office of Legal Counsel, Dawn Johnsen, accused Bush and Cheney of "appalling abuses" of power, and compared the Bush "torture memos" and the nation's reaction to them by drawing comparisons with the genocide in Rwanda.
Needless to say, all of the aforementioned "scholars" have remained remarkably silent, or in some cases are collaborators with President Obama's "abuses" of executive power, be it in the skies over Libya, or at Guantanamo Bay, or in placing an American citizen on a "kill list," to name just a few examples of Obama's Bush-like approach to national security.
The left-leaning bias of American academics is hardly a new phenomenon, but the presidency of George W. Bush brought out the worst in these activist scholars. In their animus toward Bush, too many professors were guilty of an "assault on reason" - a charge Bush's critics were quick to assign to the President. Sadly, these were not fringe elements of the academic community, such as Ward Churchill, but academics from the nation's most prestigious universities.
Professional historians will tell you that first accounts of events are almost always wrong, and that the passage of time and the cooling of passions are essential preconditions for those seeking to explain the past. The assessment of any presidency requires a "decent interval" before judgment can be pronounced, but in the case of George W. Bush, there was a rush to consign him to the ash heap of history. Arthur Schlesinger Jr., once wrote that "the use of history as therapy means the corruption of history as history." He would have done well to add that the use of history as ideology, as a partisan weapon, also means the corruption of history as history.
Millions of Americans voted for Barack Obama in the hope that he would be a trailblazer who would conduct the presidency in a new way. Well, he has: Obama has been the most divisive president in our modern history, unabashedly stirring up hate against not only his political enemies, but against private citizens who exercise their right to participate in our democracy. The most recent hatefest has been directed against Rush Limbaugh, and Obama has personally stirred the pot.
Of course, Obama has had nothing to say about the far worse invective that his own supporters have directed against Republican women. As I noted yesterday, he was asked a question about the double standard in his press conference yesterday, and ducked it. Bill Maher, who has contributed $1 million to re-elect Obama, called Sarah Palin a "c***" and a "dumb t***." (Hey, when Rush rips a Democratic Party activist, at least you can print what he said on a family web site.) Obama has never criticized Maher or any of his many other supporters and minions who have kept up a steady drumbeat of hate for years.
In this video, two Democratic Congresswomen who have joined in the condemnation of Limbaugh are asked whether they will condemn Maher's calling Palin a "c***" and a "t***." They refuse to do so, which tells you all you need to know about the "pro-woman" Democratic Party:
Barack Obama has been a terrible president in many ways, but perhaps his most poisonous legacy is his cynical fomenting of partisan hate to advance his own political interests. After three years, we have learned that "hope" is not the word that we should associate with the Obama presidency.
Once upon a time, young readers enjoyed the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe's "tales of terror" are both horrifying and unforgettable; they bear the stamp of deeply felt nightmares. Poe's "tales of ratiocination" are fascinating as detective stories, and Poe was of course the inventor of the genre. Not even being required to read Poe in school could destroy the pleasure provided by his work. Does anyone now read Poe, either voluntarily or otherwise?
Well, maybe The Raven - not the poem, silly, the action movie starring John Cusack as Poe that was previewed by the Christian Science Monitor's Molly Driscoll - will do for Poe what Oprah's book club did for John Steinbeck and a host of other worthies, near worthies and contenders. Maybe. If so, that would be great.
Twenty years ago Professor Kenneth Silverman published his compelling account of Poe's life, Edgar A. Poe: Mournful and Never-Ending Remembrance. In Silverman's telling, Poe's life becomes the counterpart to Poe's tales of terror. Poe lost both his mother and father by the age of three, was divided from his brother and sister to be raised by a family friend, and suffered the mortal illnesses and deaths of every other person he loved in the course of his life with the sole exception of his mother-in-law, to whom he was unfailingly loyal.
At the same time, Poe struggled manfully with alcohol and destitution. Nevertheless, by the time he died at the age of 40, he had created the impressive body of fiction, poetry and literary criticism that stands as his monument. Silverman conveys the headlong rush of his life by keeping the narrative going without division into chapters. Silverman's reconstruction of Poe's life is something of an inspiration. It turns out that Poe was a hero of a kind, just not the Hollywood action kind.
JOHN adds: Loree and I read that biography some years ago; it is terrific. The most remarkable fact, in my view, is that Poe invented both the detective story and the horror story, and yet died broke. Every hack who has gotten wealthy in those genres over the years ought to contribute to some kind of a memorial to Poe, one of literature's truly original geniuses.

With Super Tuesday concluded, the citizens of 23 states have cast votes in the 2012 presidential primaries. The conventional wisdom is that of the four GOP candidates still in the running, Mitt Romney will be the nominee -- because none of the others is likely to garner two-thirds of the delegates in the remaining 27 primaries.
However, given that the majority of the delegates are allocated by way of proportional representation, Romney will have to register victories in all of the remaining winner-take-all states, and a majority of delegates in the others, in order to gather the 1,144 delegates needed to secure the nomination. But of the votes cast to date, the majority have been against Romney, which indicates substantial disunity between establishment Republicans and conservatives across the nation. If this trend continues, Romney will be denied sufficient delegates to prevent a deadlock.
Though we do not have the option of merging the best candidate attributes into one nominee with impeccable presidential character, the primary process is clarifying voter concerns and, accordingly, sharpening the candidates' policy positions. That may be too little, too late if the four remaining candidates continue cannibal campaigns against each other.
One hopes that, well before the final primaries in June, a clear nominee will emerge, and that the other three will stand in support -- strongly rallying their constituencies around their winning colleague. If no clear leader does emerge, however, these four Republican candidates will, unfortunately, continue to attack each other, much to the glee of Barack Hussein Obama and his Leftist cadres.
Regardless of the Republican Primary outcome, Barack and his crew will focus on the eventual winner, devoting much of their re-election advertising campaign to replaying the intraparty criticism from the Republican primary debates -- and Republicans will have no one to blame but themselves.
The infighting between Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum (with some peripheral jabs from Ron Paul) comes at great expense to their campaign coffers and, more important, to their ability to defeat Obama. If the strident attacks continue for the next 12 weeks until the primaries are complete -- or worse, right into the Republican Convention in August -- there will be little time to form a unified front and focus all their energy and resources on defeating Obama. To that end, the Republican candidates do a great disservice to the fight to restore Liberty as it was bequeathed to us and, by extension, to our posterity.
Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, rightly chastised Republicans for "appealing to people's fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective." In the very similar election cycle of 1980, Ronald Reagan won by appealing to all that is good and right with America -- and focusing his campaign on the failures of Jimmy Carter rather than his primary opponent and Jeb's father, George H. W. Bush. (Notably, despite the elder Bush's accusation that Reagan's central campaign theme was "voodoo economics," Reagan won two decisive presidential victories -- with his former critic on the ticket.)
This election is the GOP's to lose, but the Republican Party has demonstrated an aptitude for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory (Bush, Dole, McCain). The Demos' most effective electoral strategy is their tried-and-true politics of disparity -- divide and conquer. If a Republican leader does not emerge soon, it is possible that the remaining four candidates will execute that strategy for them and pave the way for Obama's re-election. A Santorum or Gingrich nomination would require battling all the way through the convention, and that will likely assure an Obama victory, and with minimal gains in the critical down-ballot elections in the House and Senate.
Thus, it is with regret that I conclude that if at least two of the three remaining candidates do not bow out by the end of April, we may well end with a chaotic and divisive brokered convention in Tampa -- and, consequently, the re-election of Obama. I believe Newt Gingrich should step out now -- for the greater good. Note that I deliver this analysis not to promote one candidate over another, but to advocate for the goal of defeating Barack Obama, strengthening our majority in the House and regaining a majority in the Senate. (Don't shoot the messenger!)
Focus on Obama
Suggesting that it is time to narrow the field might cause some Republican and conservative heartburn, but it is fully consistent with our mission to "support and defend" our national foundation of Essential Liberty. As such, it is also fully consistent with our efforts to restore constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and promote free enterprise, a strong national defense and traditional American values.
If the nominee were Romney, then Santorum -- or better Florida Senator Marco Rubio -- would balance a Romney ticket and, of much greater importance, increase the likelihood of gains not only in the federal legislature but also in state houses across the nation. Having a young conservative on the bottom of the ticket would put the Republican candidate in good position to reap the benefits of stronger conservative majorities in the House and Senate.
Romney would attract middle- to higher-income urban and suburban voters, while Santorum or Rubio would attract grassroots conservatives, and middle- to lower-income Americans with strong faith and values. (Rubio would also energize young and Hispanic voters, as he would be the first-ever Hispanic on a major party's presidential ticket.)
It took many generations for our Republic to devolve from its once great status as a beacon of Liberty for the world, into the debased and lawless socialist state it has now become. Thus, it will take more than a few election cycles to correct decades of insult to our Constitution and our Founders' legacy.
To avoid the politics of self-destruction, we must unite. We must forcefully rebut Obama's socialist propaganda and beat back his agenda to "fundamentally transform" our nation by subverting and supplanting Liberty with Democratic Socialism. If we fail to unite, the inevitable outcome will be tyranny.
In summary, "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall." (Luke 11:17)

Today, the Senate will vote on whether to throw more money at "green energy" subsidies. Please stand with us: oppose the federal government picking and financing industry winners.
The Burr-Menendez-Reid Amendment is the infamous and long-stalled NAT GAS Act. It subsidizes natural gas vehicles - from the production of vehicles and the purchase of these vehicles to building new fueling stations. It also levies a new tax on natural gas.
The NAT GAS Act is fast losing support in the House and now we must stop this green energy boondoggle in the Senate. Liberals are pushing the bill: President Obama touted it yesterday during his speech in North Carolina.
Proponents of the NAT GAS Act claim that it is necessary to jumpstart a nascent industry, but this is untrue. Private investments have lead to the advances in natural gas extraction techniques and the technology to use it to power everything from our homes to our vehicles. In fact, Chrysler, GM and Ford have all announced plans to release bi-fuel (gasoline and compressed natural gas) versions of their popular pickup trucks. Clearly, new subsidies aren't necessary for industry progress.
After you make the call, use our call report form to tell us how it went. We're especially interested in any Senators that oppose this amendment.

If you are really serious about taking back this country, you must be willing to do what it takes to help elect true conservatives to office and, in order to actually do what it takes, you must first know what it takes. Craig Copland's 214-page Conservative Election Handbook is a must have tool that every conservative should have in his or her arsenal.
Was Boy In K.C. Fire Attack Burned By His School's Racist Teaching? By Selwyn Duke CanadaFreePress.com
The boy raised his hand, eager to answer the question. "What would you know about it?" exclaimed the teacher dismissively. "You're not our race." This was not dialogue from a Hollywood movie. According to a woman named Melissa Coon, it was what a teacher at East High School in Kansas City told her 13-year-old son, Allen, when he attempted to answer a question during Black History Month. Coon identifies that teacher as Mrs. Karla Dorsey, who is black; Allen is white.
Dissecting The 'Gay' Marriage Charade By Joseph Farah WorldNetDaily.com
The entire legal and moral argument for same-sex marriage comes down to this: Marriage laws defining the institution as a union between one man and one woman represent a violation of the civil rights of homosexuals who are prevented from participating.
One man should NOT be able to lock 8 million Americans out of jobs they need and deserve. But that's exactly what Speaker of the House John Boehner is doing by refusing to bring H.R. 2885, the 50-state, mandatory E-Verify bill, up for a vote.
So NumbersUSA has taken the gloves off. Starting yesterday, we've rolled out a hard-hitting TV ad in TV markets across America exposing the Speaker's job sabotage. (See the ad here.)
It's time to put some political dynamite under Boehner's jobs-blocking roadblock. Linda, I know you agree that it's critical that we pass national, mandatory E-Verify.
To force John Boehner's hand, however, we must have our TV ad running nationally, not just where we can afford it.We will need to invest hundreds of thousands additional dollars into this campaign to make it bite. HELP US! Every single penny you donate will be put toward putting this ad up across the nation.
Why does Speaker Boehner oppose mandatory E-Verify? His election consultants fear the bill will raise an election issue. But the consultants are so wrong! Almost every identifiable group supports E-Verify!
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce supports it. The National Homebuilders and National Restaurant Association want it. Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney voice strong support. Even President Obama made E-Verify mandatory for federal contractors!
Poll after poll shows that huge majorities of voters want mandatory E-Verify for all U.S. workers. Our recent Rasmussen/Pulse poll showed that large majorities of every racial group, every income level, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, all strongly back mandatory, national E-Verify.
So who's against E-Verify? The Republican House Leadership--Speaker of the House John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and House Whip Kevin McCarthy.
Just who is Boehner working for? To repeat what I told you last month, it seems John Boehner is working for . . . John Boehner.
We need to give Speaker Boehner something more urgent to be afraid of than political consultants. He needs to fear angry voters. With these TV ads, Boehner's phone has begun ringing, and it's not going to stop ringing until he brings H.R. 2885 up for a vote. (You've seen the TV ad, right? If not, click to watch it now. Then give!)
That is, his phone will stay ringing if we can keep the ads running on TV stations across the country. We've started the effort with funds on hand, but you must realize that can't continue. I need YOU to invest financially. Please whatever you have--break the piggy bank if you must. This is the time for us to invest.
NumbersUSA has NO OPINION on any of Speaker Boehner's policies or positions except those on immigration. But on this issue, we must represent you and unemployed Americans. John Boehner doesn't have the right to keep millions of Americans out of work.

Bill of the Week: We Already Know That Witness Tampering is Bad
One of the three aspects of overcriminalization that we highlight in our weekly e-mail alerts is "Federalizing crime that properly belongs under state and local jurisdiction." This edition, the first in a series entitled "Overcriminalized Bill of the Week," contains a textbook example of such a policy mistake.
VIDEO: Months After Federal Raid, Gibson Guitar Still Faces No Charges
Armed federal agents raided Gibson Guitar's Nashville headquarters in August, creating a national outcry over the high-profile persecution. But the Department of Justice has yet to file any charges against the company.
A new video from Reason.tv explores the implications of the case, problems with the Lacey Act and how overcriminalization is threatening the American way of life.

ABOUT OVERCRIMINALIZATION
The Heritage Foundation and a coalition of public interest legal groups are committed to reversing the troubling trend of overcriminalization, which is defined by three attributes:
1. Federalizing crime that properly belongs under state and local jurisdiction;
2. Imposing criminal penalties upon persons who acted without criminal intent (mens rea);
3. Applying criminal sanctions to conduct that historically has not been considered wrongful.
This Legislative Update includes bills our researchers have identified that add or expand federal criminal offenses or penalties, but it generally does NOT include bills involving drugs, firearms, or crimes of violence.

He said what?!? Panetta & international permission
Sovereignty, schmovereignty! Defense Secretary Leon Panetta showed just how ridiculous the foreign policy of this administration is. Glenn has the audio and reaction on radio today.
