America's Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President

When one observes President Obama's unwillingness to accommodate America's four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.

The cardinal minces no words, nor should he. He understands clearly that this government has declared war on people of faith.

The Battle Continues, Beyond Rush

Despite the White House's rather successful efforts to reframe the media and congressional debate over the HHS "contraceptive mandate" as a right-wing jihad against "women's health" - a cynical ploy aided and abetted by Rush Limbaugh's one-man circular firing squad - the real battle against the mandate and in defense of religious freedom has continued. A March 2 letter from Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, to his brother bishops usefully and succinctly outlined the current state of affairs, which amounts to unremitting stonewalling from the Obama administration.

The key section of Dolan's letter read as follows:

When the President announced on January 20th that the choking mandates from HHS would remain, not only we bishops and our Catholic faithful, but people of every faith, or none at all, rallied in protest. The worry that we had expressed - that such government control was contrary to our deepest political values - was eloquently articulated by constitutional scholars and leaders of every creed. 

 

On February 10th, the President announced that the insurance providers would have to pay the bill, instead of the Church's schools, hospitals, clinics, or vast network of charitable outreach having to do so. He considered this "concession" adequate. Did this help? We wondered if it would, and you will recall that the Conference announced at first that, while withholding final judgment, we would certainly give the President's proposal close scrutiny. Well, we did - and as you know, we are as worried as ever.

• Introduce a modernized school funding method that is based on 21st century economic realities.

1. Will Republicans Vote to Raise the Debt Limit for the Fannie Mae of Corporate Welfare?

The Export-Import Bank is a federal agency whose sole reason for existence is to use your tax dollars to subsidize sales of American manufactured goods to foreign buyers. It is nothing short of corporate welfare, and its business model (providing loans and loan guarantees at below market rates) is virtually identical to that of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Almost half of all Ex-Im loans wind up lining the pockets of just one company: Boeing. General Electric is another top beneficiary. That's right. Your tax dollars are underwriting a profitable company that didn't pay any federal income tax in 2010 and whose CEO is Obama's chief spokesman for more stimulus.

2. Mitt Romney, The Unconvincing Convert

It can be difficult to summarize in one place all of Mitt Romney's problems as a candidate and as a potential President. I have tried; I wrote, back in 2007, a series so lengthy on Romney's flaws (some 15,000 words, Part I, II, III, IV & V) that I can't possibly hope to rewrite the whole thing now, and explained why I preferred McCain to Romney. More recently I focused on the dangers of backing Romney to the integrity of his supporters, the conservative movement's need to maintain its independence from Romney, and the problems with Romney's technocratic approach. Let me try to zero in on four of his problems here: the unconvincing nature of his political conversion, the hazards of becoming enamored with candidates whose primary rationale for running is their money, the unprecedented difficulty of winning with a moderate Republican who lacks significant national security credentials as a war hero or other prominent foreign policy figure, and Romney's vulnerability arising from his dependence on his biography.

3. Obama throws... all non-Obama Democrats... under the fundraising bus.

I had not realized that things were this bad for the Obama administration:

"Democratic congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have privately sought as much as $30 million combined from Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee - a replay of the financial help they received from Obama in 2008 and 2010.

"But that's not going to happen, top Obama aides Jim Messina and David Plouffe told Reid and Pelosi in back-to-back meetings on Capitol Hill on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the high-level talks."

4. Limbaugh, Fluke, 'War on Women' and the Travesty of Cravenly Caving to Lies of the Left

I learned something this weekend. Evidently, using the word slut is far more egregious than peeing on the Constitution and on personal and religious liberty. And being equated to a slut due to demanding that others pay for your personal sexual choices is more egregious than actually being a thirty year old perpetual student leech, spouting outright lies. Because, entitled. I had another teachable moment as well: the GOP has yet to realize what a travesty it is to cravenly cave to lefty false narratives, unbelievably giving them credence. I realized that I am very concerned about the lack of testicles (is there a mandate to cover a pill for that?) in the GOP. But, hey, us dames will handle it with our huge sets of brass ovaries. I'll start, as I'm a giver.

5. Republican Senators Selling Out on Obama/Boxer/Inhofe Stimulus

Folks, it's not the amendments we should be focused on; it's the underlying bill that we must block.

Yes, it's another week in D.C., and that means it's another week of work on the highway bill. Throughout the past two weeks, there have been copious pages of ink spilled pontificating about the ramifications of the Blunt amendment and religious conscious issues. Moreover, the Capitol Hill papers are filled with news about Republican Senators protesting Harry Reid's "filling the amendment tree," blocking their precious non-germane amendments from being considered on the Senate floor. However, through it all, we are forgetting about the underlying bill; the tax and spend highway bill (S. 1813).

Editorial Note: Just received a couple of copies of the reader.   Not just a short course pamphlet this; with the heft of 'Atlas Shrugged', it is well worth getting whether or not you choose to take the course.

Less than 1,000 miles from Jerusalem, the Iranian government is operating in open violation of international law in a singular pursuit of developing nuclear weapons. Under the cloud of this threat, Israel is considering all options in order to defend its very existence, yet President Barack Obama is failing to grasp the nature of the Iranian beast and has not offered Israel the resolute support it so desperately needs and deserves.

Of course, the President's record falls short of his rhetoric. In a speech yesterday to the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee meeting, the President professed his love for Israel, insisting that his Administration has been a staunch ally to America's friend in the Middle East. "I have kept my commitments to the state of Israel," he said. "At every crucial juncture - at every fork in the road - we have been there for Israel. Every single time."

Heritage's James Carafano writes that the President left out glaring details on his failure to stand with Israel - namely by failing to mention the years he spent trying to "engage" with the Syrian and Iranian regimes, his missed opportunity to embrace the Green Revolution against Tehran, and the time wasted pressing Israel to negotiate with a Palestinian authority that tolerates Hamas - a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel.

Obama Tries To Reassure Israel

Addressing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee yesterday, Barack Obama told the audience, "There should not be a shred of doubt by now -- when the chips are down, I have Israel's back." Sorry, Mr. Obama, but a lot of folks have grave doubts about your commitment to the American-Israeli alliance. After all, at last year's AIPAC speech, Obama was in damage control mode over his suggestion that Israel shrink back to the indefensible 1967 "Auschwitz" borders.

Columnist Caroline Glick wrote, "...this was the first speech on an Israel related theme that Obama has given since the 2008 campaign in which he did not pick a fight with Israel." For that, Glick added, his supporters in the liberal media considered it "a pro-Israel speech."

Yet even as some in the media tried to spin Obama's latest rhetoric as "green-lighting" an attack on Iran, the Associated Press ran a story today with this headline, "Obama Makes Case Against Striking Iran Now." The AP reports that the White House wants to give newly-imposed sanctions more time to work. Indeed, as Obama told AIPAC yesterday, "Now is the time to let our increased pressure sink in and to sustain the broad international coalition we have built."

But as the Wall Street Journal notes, these are the very same sanctions that Obama had once opposed. He only supported them because an overwhelming majority in Congress forced his hand by including them in a "must-pass" defense bill.

And just how are those sanctions working out? Yukiya Amano, head of the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency, reports today that "The agency continues to have serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear program. As Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation ... the agency is unable ... to conclude that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities."

Meanwhile, top administration officials have repeatedly warned Israel not to strike Iran, even as Obama told his AIPAC audience that "Israel must always have the ability to defend itself, by itself, against any threat." Some interpreted that line as a reaffirmation of Israel's sovereignty. It could also be a warning that if Israel defends itself, it will be "by itself."


Smearing Limbaugh

Any conservative worth their salt was in shock when "reproductive rights activist" Sandra Fluke testified before Nancy Pelosi's fake hearing that religious institutions should be forced to pay for her contraception. Every conservative talk show host blasted her absurd claim to yet another government-mandated "right." My friend Rush Limbaugh went further, using some poorly chosen words to label Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute."

The left immediately seized the moment. Barack Obama called Fluke to offer his support and sympathy. And why wouldn't he? He finally found someone who favors ObamaCare! A massive network of liberal groups organized online protests targeting Limbaugh's advertisers. Over the weekend, Rush issued an apology to Fluke, and he apologized again on the air today. Here's what he said:

"Against my own instincts, against my own knowledge, against everything I know to be right and wrong I descended to [the left's] level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke. ... I became like them, and I feel very badly about that. ...Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate. They were uncalled for. They distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her. ...

"The apology to her over the weekend was sincere. It was simply for using inappropriate words in a way I never do, and in so doing, I became like the people we oppose. I ended up descending to their level. It's important not to be like them, ever, particularly in fighting them. The old saw, you never descend to the level of your opponent or they win. That was my error last week. But the apology was heartfelt. The apology was sincere."

End of story, right? No way! The jackals smell blood. Whenever Bill Maher or someone on the left makes an offensive, over-the-top comment against men and women of faith, it is a one-day story at best. But the left neither forgives nor forgets. It now senses an opportunity to destroy Rush Limbaugh.

Eight advertisers have already abandoned Rush's show, including Carbonite. That's interesting because Carbonite is also a sponsor of Ed Schultz's show, and Schultz once referred to Laura Ingraham, who has never demanded that anyone else pay for her birth control, as a "slut."

Why the double standard? According to The American Spectator's Jeffrey Lord, the CEO of Carbonite has given money to "MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and Democracy for America, all three listed here as George Soros funded groups, the latter set up by Howard Dean."

ACTION ITEM: My friends, we can't let the left destroy Rush Limbaugh. Below are the companies that have withdrawn their support from Limbaugh's show. Call them. Respectfully tell them that you disagree with the decision to cancel their advertising, especially now that Limbaugh has apologized, not once but twice. Let them know that you will take your business elsewhere.

Cameron In The Crosshairs

Actor Kirk Cameron is in the left's crosshairs today for daring to express his views as an evangelical Christian on Piers Morgan's CNN show Friday night. Cameron, who starred in the sitcom "Growing Pains" and more recently in the "Left Behind" movies, said this about same-sex marriage:

"I believe that marriage was designed by God a long time ago -- marriage is almost as old as dirt and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve -- one man, one woman for life till death do you part. I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage, and I don't think anyone else should either so do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't. ... I think that it's unnatural, I think that it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

The left went nuts. Homosexual rights groups blasted Cameron's alleged bigotry and intolerance. Liberal Hollywood types rushed to Tweet their condemnation of Cameron's values and to reaffirm their fidelity to the gay marriage cause.

Not long ago, virtually no one would have argued with Cameron's comments. But the cultural left is determined to impose its values on the rest of society. It began by purging faith from the public square and forcing it into the closet. Then abortion was forced on every state in the country. Now marriage is being redefined. The secularists want an America where traditional values cannot be spoken.

As the Democrat Party embraced the radical left, more and more values voters found a home in the Republican Party. They expect the GOP to unapologetically defend their cherished values. Increasingly, however, it seems only one party is committed to fighting and winning the culture war.

I am 100% conservative on economics, foreign policy and values. But it is far easier to convince the American people about the virtue of traditional marriage, which most instinctively believe in, than it is to explain why marginal tax rates for top earners should be kept low or why Social Security must be reformed. The idea that the sanctity of life and normal marriage are "too controversial" is absurd.

Yet I am bothered when I hear conservatives buy into this line of reasoning. There will be no "truce" in the culture war. The left fully intends to win it. It's absurd that many Republicans and even some conservatives are preemptively surrendering by refusing to bring up these issues!

I know Governor Romney doesn't want to "light his hair on fire," but conservatives must not be afraid to defend our values. (For more on Romney, read my weekly Human Events column.) If we want to win, we must force the Democrats to defend their radical positions. If we will take the fight to them, I believe the American people will rally to our cause.

         Harvard's Kennedy School of Government Worship just concluded its One-State Conference, aimed at abolishing the Jewish state. On Wednesday, Jews will celebrate Purim, commemorating an event in Persia of the 4th century BC, when a court official plotted the world's first genocide - back in the days before anti-Semitism acquired an academic aura.

         I was born just after World War II - a conflict that claimed the lives of one out of every three Jews on earth. Growing up, I considered myself among the most fortunate of Jews. Revelations of the Holocaust's horrors had ended anti-Semitism as a political force forever, I thought. Other than a lingering social anti-Semitism (which stereotyped Jews as clannish, crass and avaricious), and the occasional cemetery desecration and graffiti, Jew-hatred was a relic of humanity's brutish past.

         What a fool I was.

         I've come to understand a simple truth: Haman is more than an historical figure. He is eternal. He walks among us - dragging his blood libel, his Protocols, his stake, his Zyklon-B, and his symposia everywhere he goes. Today, seven decades after the Holocaust, he is more menacing than at any time since the end of the Thousand-Year Reich.

         Wikipedia has a site called "Timeline of Anti-Semitism." The printable version is 39 pages, and this is an overview. From 586 BC to 2009, there are 294 separate listings - expulsions, massacres, pogroms, burnings, forced conversions, condemnations, edicts, segregation, agitation, confiscations, inquisitions, quotas, blood libels and genocide.

         If this was a guided tour, a few points of interest might be noted: 37-41 CE, thousands of Jews killed by pagan mobs in Alexandria - 132-135, Romans slaughter an estimated 580,000 Jews in the course of putting down the Bar Kokhba revolt - 1066, massacre of 4,000 Jews in Muslim Grenada - 1096, Crusaders murder 5,000 Jews in Germany - 1171, 31 Jews burned at the stake in France - 1190, 500 Jews killed by departing Crusaders in York, England - 1236, Crusaders attack communities in Anjou and Poitou, France, 3,000 killed - 1349, 600 Jews burned at the stake in Basel, Switzerland (the Nazis would later streamline incineration) - 1492, Spanish expulsion - 1506, 2,000 killed during three days of rioting in Lisbon - 1516, first ghetto established in Venice - 1648-1655, 100,000 Jews slaughtered in Ukrainian Cossack uprising - 1881-1884, pogroms in southern Russia result in emigration of 2 million Jews, most to the United States - 1917-1921, anywhere from 70,000 to 250,000 Jews killed during the Russian Civil War by Whites who said they were Reds, and Bolsheviks who condemned them as counterrevolutionaries - 1929, Hebron massacre destroys world's oldest Jewish community - 1939-1945, Hitler modernized mass murder - 1941, 200 die in Baghdad pogrom - 1948, 900,00 Jews driven from Arab lands - 2001-to present, atrocities of the Intifada and new wave of European anti-Semitic attacks, spurred by Muslim immigration.

         Over the course of three millennia, the world has seen pagan anti-Semitism, Catholic anti-Semitism, Protestant anti-Semitism (typified by the ravings of Martin Luther), nationalistic anti-Semitism (starting in the 19th century), so-called scientific anti-Semitism (which reached its ultimate dementia under the Nazis), socialist anti-Semitism, communist anti-Semitism. Muslim anti-Semitism (stretching back to Muhammad), populist anti-Semitism (of the KKK variety), social anti-Semitism and Helen Thomas.

         Jews have been hated for rejecting pantheism, for creating communism, for inventing capitalism, for being warmongers, for being pacifists, for controlling the world's financial markets, the Federal Reserve, Wall Street, the news media and Hollywood, for rejecting a 7th century Arabian cult and for the death of a popular first century rabbi.

         The Harvard conference is the latest. But they're not anti-Semites! - even though their speakers include the founder of the on-line Electronic Intifada, a former legal adviser to the PLO and a prominent Hamas supporter. In this lynch mob, Harvard Professor Stephen Walt, who claims Jews control U.S. foreign policy, was the moderate.

         They're not anti-Semitic, but their solution to the Middle East impasse is to abolish the Jewish state of Israel, flood the land with Palestinian "refugees," and leave the remaining Jews to their fate among a people who make no effort to conceal their bloodlust.

         The president himself is a Harvard grad - and it shows.

         At the very least, Barak Hussein Obama is comfortable among anti-Semites.

         For almost 20 years, the future president was schooled in liberation theology by his pastor/spiritual mentor the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., a charismatic creep given to spouting racism, anti-Americanism and anti-Jewish conspiracy theories. It wasn't until well into the 2008 campaign, when the roaring Rev. became too much of a liability, that Obama finally disassociated himself from Wright, but refused to condemn him.

         Through Wright, Obama is connected to Nation of Islam Fuhrer Louis Farrakhan. In this year's Savior's Day Convention, Calypso Gene accused Jews of controlling the media, working to engineer a war with Iran and running the slave trade. And that was a warm-up. Obama both attended and wrote glowingly of Farrakhan's 1995 Million-Man March.

         Last year, a 2007 photo surfaced of then-Senator Obama marching with Malik Zulu Shabazz, leader of the inveterately anti-Semitic New Black Panther Party. Shabazz penned a forward to the book "Synagogue of Satan" (see if you can guess the theme). "Who is it that controls the Federal Reserve? - the Jews," Shabazz intones. It's probably just a coincidence that Obama's Justice Department refused to prosecute NBP thugs for 2008 voter intimidation.

         The Center for American Progress and Media Matters are often described as Obama think tanks, if such is not a contradiction in terms. Liberal Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz charges, "Media Matters and Center for American Progress are two extremely left-bigoted groups that are so virulently anti-Israel and anti-supporters of Israel that they've gone over the line from anti-Zionism to anti-Semitism."

         The Occupy Wall Street brown shirts have been celebrated by such Democrat heavies as Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and, of course, the president. OWS is rife with anti-Semitic signs, slogans and rhetoric. In Los Angeles, Occupier Patricia McAllister (then an employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District) said the "Zionist Jews" who "run the big banks and Federal Reserve" should be "run out of the country. "

         At a demonstration in October, a social media spokesman for the bowel movement told an elderly Jewish counter-protestor to "go back to Israel," you "greedy pig."

         When OWS vandalized the Oakland City Hall in January, a protestor was caught on camera reciting an anti-Semitic mock pledge to the flag, which he said represented a "privately owned central bank, under the Jews...." OWS has been endorsed by both the American Nazi Party and Barrack Obama. In November, the president told protestors in New Hampshire, "You are the reason I ran for office."

         Howard Gutman, a 2008 Obama mega-bundler and current U.S. ambassador to Belgium, told a conference last year that the Jews had no one but themselves to blame for the epidemic of European anti-Semitism. "A distinction should be made between traditional anti-Semitism, which should be condemned and Muslim hatred of Jews, which stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians" and thus is excusable, Gutman informed an audience stunned to silence.

         Trying to give Israel Auschwitz borders (Obama is the first president to demand that the Jewish state return to 1967), a commitment to make the West Bank Judenrein, and a determination to protect Iran's nuclear facilities from Israeli strikes isn't the sum total of the president's Middle East policy.

         In February, Rick Santorum told FOX News the president "was ready to jump in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya and Egypt." Ready? He's waiting there, with his bra and panties off. The New York Times, which doubles as the White House press office, put it more discreetly in a January 3 story headlined "Overtures to Egypt's Islamists Reverse Longtime U.S. Policy."

         By betraying Mubarak, Obama practically put this scum in power in Egypt.

         Haj Amin al-Husseni (Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who ran the Brotherhood operation in Palestine of the '20s and '30s) spent the war years in Berlin, as Hitler's guest, and helped recruit a Bosnian Muslim S.S. division to run the death camps. (Husseini is still a revered figure among the organization's leadership.) Flash forward 70 years - Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, spiritual leader of the Egyptian Brotherhood, beseeches: "O Allah, take the Jews, the treacherous aggressors. O Allah, take this profligate, cunning, arrogant band of people... O Allah, count their numbers, and kill them, down to the very last one." The Brotherhood was also well represented at the Harvard hate-fest.

         In 25 centuries of state-sponsored anti-Semitism, America stands out as a brief shining moment of sanity and decency - from Washington's letter of tolerance to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, to driving a bayonet through the heart of Nazi Germany, to Truman acting as midwife to the Jewish state, to Nixon re-supplying Israel after the Yom Kippur War. Many Christians and Jews believe this is why God has kept his hand over our republic.

         If Obama is reelected, that will end. America will become like unto the nations.

         On Purim, Jews eat a triangular fruit-filled pastry called hamantaschen or Haman's ears. Cartoonists often focus on Obama's jug handles. Put it down as another coincidence.

The OFS Act will move us in that direction. Brazil has already done it successfully and other nations are moving in the same direction.

While there certainly are numerous valid approaches to transportation fuel independence (most of which we fully support), the Open Fuel Standard legislation is the easiest first step. At zero cost to the Federal Government, and only $70 to $100 per vehicle, passage of the OFS Act will finally provide Americans a choice when filling up their gas tanks-just like we all have a choice for every other product offered to us. It will allow free market capitalism to be applied to the transportation fuel industry-something that currently does not exist.

We must finally cut the cord that keeps us dependent on wealthy dictators and Islamist nations for our gasoline. Further, we must stop funding Islamist terrorists every time we fill up our gas tanks. Passage of the Cantwell/Lugar Amendment is our opportunity to do so.

For instance, the unfair tax break that makes up nearly half of what Obama calls 'subsidies' is the manufacturing tax credit. All manufacturers except the oil and gas industry get to deduct 9 percent of their revenues before calculating their tax bills. (It's worth noting that 'manufacturing' is so broadly defined that it includes newspapers and software companies in addition to producers of wind turbines and solar panels.) Though oil and gas producers get the deduction, they are singled out for a lower 6 percent deduction. ... When the tax increases on oil and gas companies were proposed last year, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) was asked to analyze the impact. ... The CRS says there are two ways of looking at the impact of the tax increases: 1) They will increase gasoline prices and dependence on foreign oil; or 2) They will and should increase gasoline prices, because gasoline is 'artificially inexpensive.' Police in Kansas City are investigating a horrific attack on a young boy and deciding if it will be classified as a hate crime. Allen Goin was followed home from school and doused with gasoline and set on fire. His mother claims that as the attackers were lighting the gasoline, they said "You get what you deserve, white boy." This may sound extreme, but leaders in the Catholic church are already warning that Obama's mandate will cause Catholic hospitals and unversities to shut down rather than pay for the violation of their rights of conscience. Cardinal Francis George, who resides in Chicago, said the mandate means:

This year, the Catholic Church in the United States is being told she must "give up" her health care institutions, her universities and many of her social service organizations.... Why does a governmental administrative decision now mean the end of institutions that have been built up over several generations from small donations, often from immigrants, and through the services of religious women and men and others who wanted to be part of the church's mission in healing and education?

Obama's hypocrisy on Israel support as election nears
