Might Barack Obama Be 'The Greatest Gun Salesman in America?' Take a Look...
The Blaze | by Christopher Santarelli | Posted on February 21, 2012 at 6:12pm
Gun manufacturers would likely not be the first to come to mind when considering industries who have benefited the most during President Obama's first term, but a study from Ammo.net finds that firearm sales and concealed handgun permit applications are at all-time highs since the 2008 election.
Just to show a few statistics illustrating what those in the industry call "the Obama effect:"

The bad news is last month some well intentioned political activist announced a cut-off date for signing up co-sponsors for Rep. Rose Marie Swanger's American Law's for American Courts (HB 2029) in an effort to inject some urgency into the effort.
What it resulted in was an interruption of the campaign to encourage those Representatives not yet signed on as co-sponsors to join with those Legislators who have already recognized the death by smothering threat to our Constitution.
The good news is there is no cut-off date for adding co-sponsors and we are once again asking your readers to contact their representatives and ask they join the battle.
There are only three Representatives from Bucks who are co-sponsors, Representatives Clymer, Petri and Quinn and we thank them for showing their colors.
But that leaves seven more Representatives who appear to be still standing on the sidelines as the battle for our existence as a free people is joined.
Lame rhetoric? I'm afraid not. If you do not understand the threat we face from 'peaceful' opportunists like CAIR, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bucksafa11info/messages or contact me at bucksafa11@yahoo.com to schedule an Open the Koran presentation for you and your friends.
If you're ready to help, visit www.actforamerica.org and sign on as a chapter leader. It's free and the people there are friendly and helpful. Your help is needed. Every township, every neighborhood needs an Act! for America chapter leader.
But before you do anything, if your Pennsylvania Representative has not yet ssigned on as co-sponsor, urge her/him to do so and ask what is it that prevents him/her from doing so.
Help Pennsylvania be counted among those States that have shown the courage to face off with the enemies who have plainly stated their aim is to destroy our Nation. Our laws have worked just fine since colonial times. What is needed are politicians who respect them. And you know whose job it is to remind them of that.
Thanks,
John Ryan

CAIR's Fight Against Pennsylvania Foreign Law Bill
by David J. Rusin FrontPage Magazine February 13, 2012
http://www.islamist-watch.org/9192/cair-fight-against-pennsylvania-foreign-law-bill
Resistance to a new bill aimed at limiting foreign law in Pennsylvania courts serves as a case study of how Islamists and their allies operate: peddling falsehoods about Shari'a, painting Muslims as victims, and denying that anyone seeks to institutionalize aspects of Islamic law - even as they vigorously promote that very agenda. With similar legislation being debated across the U.S., understanding their tactics is critical.
At issue in Pennsylvania is House Bill (HB) 2029, which stipulates that "a tribunal shall not consider a foreign legal code or system which does not grant ... the same fundamental liberties, rights and privileges" as guaranteed by the federal and state constitutions. Introduced in November, it follows the American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) model and makes no mention of Shari'a. A preliminary memo sent to legislators last June in the name of Rep. RoseMarie Swanger, HB 2029's chief sponsor, does highlight Islamic law, but she later said that it had been circulated accidentally. Regardless, concerns about Shari'a are warranted due to its many provisions that conflict with the standards of American jurisprudence. For example, it disadvantages women in terms of inheritance, divorce, child custody, and other areas of family law. Shari'a already has shaped numerous cases nationwide, including in Pennsylvania, where one state court decided how assets should be distributed according to Islam.
Pushback against HB 2029 has been led by the Philadelphia office of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-PA) and was punctuated by an interfaith press conference (video here) at CAIR-PA headquarters on December 14. The overall campaign reflects CAIR's usual recipe of distortion, victimology, and contradiction between words and deeds.
Attacks on bills like HB 2029 begin by sowing confusion about Shari'a. Because Islamic law encompasses virtually every facet of life - governing personal activities such as eating and worship, but also forming an oppressive social and legal structure - suit-and-tie Islamists work to emphasize its unthreatening pieces whenever possible. CAIR-PA executive director Moein Khawaja's suggestion that Shari'a should worry Pennsylvanians no more than halal gyros is a fine example of this technique.

March 23rd, 2012, marks an important and unfortunate anniversary. It will have been exactly two years since President Obama forced his unpopular health care takeover onto the American people. Americans for Prosperity has educated the public about the dangers of government interference in the health care market for the past several years, and now the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments and make a ruling on that very issue. As you are most likely aware, the U.S. Supreme Court will be considering the constitutionality of several elements of the President's health care bill. This may be our best chance to overturn this offense against our health care freedoms. The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID
"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere. My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why? Louis: Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934). The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward. I would advise you to contact the Senators who comprise the Senate State Government Committee, those in Senate leadership positions and your local Senator to let them know of your desire to move this forward. Also you may ask for an accounting of why this has been held up and not considered. Please let me know if I can help with other state-related matters. Voter Cheating
You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian. Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.
Background
There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:
a) 12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934
Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand. I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...
b) Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID
"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well. "It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."
c) Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)
Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh) "Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918. "Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
d) Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler: No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)
"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens. "I can vote twenty-two times. "You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once). http://pawatercooler.com/v3/?tag=philadelphia-voter-fraud
e) 11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives
"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include: * Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate) * Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman) * Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in ACORN's 2005 annual report) * Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with Justice) * Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA) * Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA) * Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson) Action United is located at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org. http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project. There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor. Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's: "The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/ There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs: "Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night. "The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29... A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement. "He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..." http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/ What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"? Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November. On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things. The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

PA implementing ObamaCare exchanges
I wanted to update you on the exchange situation. First, unfortunately we are getting started late in the game. Having spoken with 4 different legislators (Rep Saylor, Boyd, Bear, and Sen Waugh), I believe the general sense on their part is that they want to be prepared to set up an exchange if SCOTUS doesn't declare ObamaCare unconstitutional.
Their reasoning for supporting the exchange is that PA will have more control if PA sets up the exchange rather than the feds. We have been arguing that in fact: the exchange structure and operation is dictated by the feds, through law and regulation, regardless if the state sets it up or not; that whatever little "control" a PA would have does not mitigate any of the true horrors of the law; establishing the exchange legitimizes PPACA and undercut PA's federal lawsuit against PPACA, creates more PA expense and government, scedes state sovereignty, misses an opportunity to block the law and to have standing for further legal action. (please see attached documents if you want more explanation).
We have more legislator visits planned, but it is clear to me that none of the legislators thus far will take on this fight. We must generate the grass roots response to move them to do so. It is disgusting that our Republican Governor and legislature can't pass meaningful right to work legislation, LCB reform, PA TPK Commission reform, school reform, etc but unless we respond in a big way, will make PA government bigger, make PA government poorer, harm PA citizen liberty and health by implementing an exchange.
I have contacted Campaign for Liberty to see if they are interested in coordinating efforts to stop the exchange. I will also contact the PA Manufacturer's Association and the Chamber of Commerce, both of whom support repeal of PPACA, also for potential coordination of activities.
We are working on an on-line petition rejecting PPACA and the exchanges for PA physicians to sign and ultimately deliver by several physicians to Harrisburg.
On Wednesday, I participated in a debate put on by the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform (Donna Rovito). Leo Knepper and I presented the anti-exchange positition while a rep from the PA Dept of Insurance and Dr Schmeltz of the PA Medical Society presented the for pro position. For what it is worth, I believe we had the more compelling argument.
I welcome any thought you all have.
This exchange is going to happen unless we act together in a big way.

We have an amazing opportunity before us today, to score a BIG WIN for taxpayers and small businesses...but we can't do it without your help!
Please click here to send an email to your Representative and tell him or her to vote yes on the prevailing wage reform bills before the House today!
At 1pm, our PA Legislators are voting to amend the prevailing wage laws that have long favored unions and hurt working families and small businesses!
Could you please email your legislator right now and ask him or her to vote YES on two prevailing wage reform bills: H.B. 1329 ("Threshold") and H.B. 1685 ("Jobs Classification")?
Our politicians must not only hear from the unions...they must hear from YOU and I...the people who bear the burden of paying for these bills!
Here's a quick overview of the bills:
The "Jobs Classification Bill" will require Pennsylvania to define job classifications on public works projects. The lack of definitions has been used by some unions to attack and file frivolous grievances against small business owners, costing Pennsylvania jobs and tax dollars.
The "threshold bill" will end the artificially low estimated cost of total project from $25,000 to conform to the Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year. The current amount was based on the 1963 Consumer Price Index and allowed prevailing wage to kick in at too low a threshold making it a costly endeavor for school districts and municipalities to fund minor projects.
Will you please ask your legislator to vote "YES" to H.B. 1329 ("Threshold") and H.B. 1685 ("Jobs Classification")? Don't miss this chance to score a win for the taxpayers and small businesses of Pennsylvania!
Thank you for all your hard work!
In Liberty and Solidarity,
Jennifer Stefano
PS - These two bills are going on our legislative scorecard and every Representative will be graded on their vote.

RedState Morning Briefing
For February 22, 2012
Folks,
I'm off to Mesa, AZ for tonight's CNN Debate. This will probably be the last of the Republican Presidential Debates for 2012. I expect fireworks! So tune in for the pre-debate show starting at 6pm ET and the debate starts on CNN right at 8pm ET. I'll be on afterwards to share my thoughts on the event.
- Erick
1. A Primer for the Media and I Agree With Rick Santorum The Drudge Report put up a story about Rick Santorum's speech to Ave Maria University in which Santorum said Satan was attacking the United States. The speech was giving in 2008, but is largely consistent with statements he has given in the past few weeks. I agree with Rick Santorum. I also think that this is a Romney leaked piece. Given the close ties between Matt Drudge and the Romney camp, that's an easy guess. I also think it will hurt Santorum who apparently has Gingrichitis, a disease the frontrunners all seem to get where they mouth off on any topic under the sun once they are the front runner. Focus on this topic does not help Santorum and is largely irrelevant to being President. Nonetheless, I feel compelled to defend Santorum given how clueless some of those attacking him seem to be on the specific points he made and also given the cluelessness of a lot of reporters trying to put his remarks in context or explain them.
2. When Petard Hoisting Goes Horribly Wrong It seldom ends well when stupid people try to be clever. The latest case in point involves some Democrats in the Georgia legislature. "This afternoon, the House Judiciary (Non-Civil) Committee will take up HB 954, a measure that would prohibit abortions on women who are more than 20 weeks pregnant. Current law prohibits abortions after the second trimester, or about 24 weeks." ** snip ** (please pardon the pun) "In response, House Democrats have scheduled a 3 p.m. Wednesday hearing at the state Capitol, to propose a bill that would ban Georgia males from seeking vasectomies." 3. Dahlia Lithwick's Sonogram Lie Implodes Last week I posted on the egregiously dishonest line of attack being made on a proposed Virginia law requiring all women who are seeking an abortion to be given the opportunity to see an ultrasound picture of the baby before dismembering. The left, led online by Slate's Dahlia Lithwick, who seemingly has the same grasp of medicine and human reproduction that she has of the law, has mounted one of the most transparently fraudulent assaults since anything they perpetrated on George W. Bush. Her claim was that Virginia was RAPING WOMEN!!1!!!! because an ultrasound was being required before a surgical procedure was undertaken. Today the story descended into farce. 4. Demagoguing Rape, Exploiting Victims: The Degenerate Left Continues to Use and Abuse Women Out: Hitler analogies. In: rape demagoguery. If you are a morally bankrupt Leftist, that is. And it's not just 'fringe', either. Mainstream Democrats, including our own Vice-President, are hopping on the revolting bandwagon that reached the nadir of it's journey this week. While it's been well-shown that Democrats are not For The Women, in fact they are anything but, the reprehensible actions of late have shown the depth of their depravity and their outright contempt and disdain for women. 5. What are the depths of Peter Gleick's depravity in the Heartland global warming smear attack? OK, quick background: last week there was a bit of fuss when a variety of documents appeared that purported to show that there was some sort of nefarious global warming 'denialist' (that's what a Lefty calls somebody who has noticed that, hey, the temperature's not actually rising the way that people told us it would) conspiracy centered around the Heartland Institute. The Heartland Institute was not amused by this, and has been making it clear that at least one document was a pathetic forgery. This latter point has generally been conceded by all the players, if tacitly, and the great walkback is beginning. I recommend Watts Up With That for those looking to monitor further developments: that site has been all over this story. But let's go back to what got revealed, for a moment. The documents can be grouped into two categories: a variety of materials that global warming advocate (and lecturer on ethics*) Peter Gleick admitted stealing from Heartland**; and the aforementioned pathetically faked document. Since we now know that not even Gleick is standing by the provenance of said document, let us ignore it completely. What it says is irrelevant. It has no bearing. I did not even read it before my summary below of the documents that Gleick stole, solely to keep it from contaminating my assessment. So, what's in those documents?

The U.S. Constitution
A Reader
Divided into eleven sections with introductions by members of Hillsdale's Politics Department faculty, readings cover the principles of the American founding, the framing and structure of the Constitution, the secession crisis and the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Constitution, and the building of the administrative state based on Progressive principles.
  About Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College is a private, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with approximately 1,400 students. Founded in 1844, the College remains, in the words of its Articles of Association, "grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the presence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety" in our nation, and dedicated to "the diffusion of sound learning" that is "essential to the perpetuity of these blessings."
Hillsdale College is distinguished by its rigorous core curriculum, by its principled rejection of federal and state taxpayer funding, and by the pledge of its Board of Trustees to resists any attempts by the government to regulate its internal affairs. Hillsdale College promotes the principles of liberty nationwide through its national speech digest, Imprimis, which has a monthly circulation of over 2 million, and through several outreach programs. In 2008, Hillsdale launched its Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The College will also launch the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship in fall 2012.

It's time for a purple heart for the victims at Ft. Hood and Little Rock!
Show your support for our troops by joining us in correcting this outrageous injustice!!
Did you know that the military victims of Islamic jihad terrorism at Ft. Hood and the Little Rock Recruitment Center are not eligible for the Purple Heart?
The reason is that our Defense Department is defining these acts as "criminal" acts rather than as acts of "war." In fact, the Ft. Hood massacre was classified as "workplace violence!"
This is in keeping with the Obama administration position that terrorists like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11, are not "enemy combatants" but "alleged criminals."
Not only do we strongly disagree with this designation, we find it outrageous and completely unacceptable that those in our armed forces killed by jihadists on our soil are not eligible for the Purple Heart.
Do you agree? Would you like to help us correct this injustice?
Then log on here and add your name to the Open Letter we will be sending to the chairmen of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees.
In the letter, we urge them to pass H.R. 1142, introduced by Rep. Allen West. Here's an excerpt from this letter:
|
H.R. 1142, the Global Combat Zone Recognition Act, was introduced by Congressman Allen West and would assure that a member of the Armed Forces killed or wounded in a terrorist attack is afforded the same protections and treatments as one killed or wounded in a traditional active "combat zone." |
Help us pour tens of thousands of names behind this letter into the Armed Services Committees of both the House and Senate. Let them know the American people are outraged at this injustice and that we expect action!!
This is a chance for us to do more than "honor and support our troops" with our words. It only takes moments to add your name-and you can even forward this letter to others you know.
Let's take action to correct this injustice today!!

Muslims stone Christians on Temple Mount
- Israel Today - February 19, 2012
02-19-2012
Paula Poster
A mob of some 50 Palestinian Muslims stoned a group of Christian tourists atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount on Sunday morning. Three of the Israeli police officers who acted to protect the Christian group were wounded by the stone-throwers. Police arrested 11 Palestinians, several of them minors, for their role in the attack.
The attack is believed to have been instigated by the former Muslim mufti of Jerusalem, Ekrama Sabri, who told Palestinian media over the weekend that Jewish groups were planning to break into the mosques that occupy the holy compound and desecrate them.
Sabri urged all local Muslims to protect the mosques from "the Israeli conspiracy against the city and its holy places."
Muslim religious figures regularly claim that Israel is plotting to destroy the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque to pave the way for the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple, which the Muslims now insist never previously existed.
Because of the constant threat of Muslim violence, and despite the fact that the Temple Mount is the most holy place on earth to Jews and many Christians, the Israeli police comply with Muslim demands for harsh restrictions on non-Muslim visitors to the site. For instance, Jews and Christians are forbidden to carry Bibles atop the Temple Mount or to utter even silent prayers within its walls. Jews and Christians are regularly detained for violating these conditions. Read more:

"Eventually, All Humans Will Be Palestine Refugees"
by Daniel Pipes
The Washington Times
February 21, 2012
Of all the issues that drive the Arab-Israeli conflict, none is more central, malign, primal, enduring, emotional, and complex than the status of those persons known as Palestine refugees.
The origins of this unique case, notes Nitza Nachmias of Tel Aviv University, goes back to Count Folke Bernadotte, the United Nations Security Council's mediator. Referring to those Arabs who fled the British mandate of Palestine, he argued in 1948 that the UN had a "responsibility for their relief" because it was a UN decision, the establishment of Israel, that had made them refugees. However inaccurate his view, it still remains alive and potent and helps explain why the UN devotes unique attention to Palestine refugees pending their own state.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 259 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS Santorum Under Siege Senator Rick Santorum has been under siege by the mainstream media for several days now over comments he allegedly made about Barack Obama's "faith." Just to be clear, Santorum wasn't talking about Obama's faith, but his environmental policies, which are being dictated by the radical environmentalist movement. The "phony theology" Santorum was referring to was the left's extreme environmental views, not Obama's faith. The left-wing blogs and talking heads went ballistic. Headlines like this one soon appeared: "Santorum: Obama Believes In 'Phony Theology' Not Based On Bible." The spin was the same in every story -- Rick Santorum is an extremist for daring to question Barack Obama's faith. The media's hyperventilating speaks volumes about the left's ignorance and ulterior motives. The liberal media couldn't make the connection between the radical environmental movement and the zealotry with which it pursues its agenda and a "phony theology." Moreover, the media are determined to portray Santorum as an extremist, fixated on religion and social issues. So even when he is talking about manufacturing and the need to develop our own energy resources, the media hear conspiratorial attacks on Obama's faith. Senator Santorum is not backing down. In explaining the controversy, he told Sean Hannity:
"I am not going to question ... what the president believes in when it comes to his faith. But I am going to question what he is doing in this country, to drive up the cost of energy. ...I'm out there on the campaign trail talking about energy, I'm out there on the campaign talking about manufacturing jobs, I'm talking about cutting the corporate tax for all businesses. And of course, you know, they want to talk about the issues [that] fit their narrative."
It was just a couple of weeks ago that Barack Obama went to the National Prayer Breakfast and turned the Bible into the IRS and Jesus into a tax collector. He said his plans to raise taxes were not only good economic policy, but were also supported by his Christian faith. The implied message was that if you disagreed with Obama's socialism you were a bad Christian. A few on the right raised their eyebrows, but where were all the liberal talking heads then? Why were there no headlines like this: "Obama: Supply-Siders Believe In 'Phony Theology' Not Based On Christianity"? Or this: "Obama: Tax Hikes Make Me Better Christian"? Unfortunately, our side did not make enough noise about this issue. Every Republican office holder should have issued statements demanding an apology for Obama's abuse of Scripture to promote his socialist agenda. Pastors should have spoken up forcefully. And given Obama's assault on religious liberty that has followed, let's hope our shepherds find their voices in the days and weeks ahead. Marginalizing Christians I think the evidence is clear that there is a pattern here to marginalize Rick Santorum. It kicked into high gear during last month's Republican presidential debate when George Stephanopoulos made birth control the number one issue. With sky-high unemployment, record deficits and Iran building nuclear weapons, it seemed odd that contraception was at the top of George's list. But in hindsight it is obvious what is going on. Last week, the media jumped all over a joke by Foster Friess, the biggest contributor to a pro-Santorum super PAC. NBC's Andrea Mitchell asked Friess if he was concerned about Santorum's electability given some of his comments on social issues. (Again, note the not-so-subtle hint from the media -- "Santorum is unelectable because he is an extremist.") Friess then joked about the contraception debate, saying, "In my day, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn't that costly." Friess' joke about chastity and abstinence was a perfectly valid message, and one that millions of Christian parents try to instill in their children. But Mitchell was at a loss for words. She responded, "Excuse me. I'm just trying to catch my breath from that, Mr. Friess, frankly. Let's change the subject..." Others in the media ran wild with the story, making a caricature out of Friess as a kook who really meant women could take aspirin for birth control. Remember, friends, these are the same media elites who repeatedly referred to Tea Party activists as "tea baggers." This is an extremely vulgar reference to a sexual practice that I won't describe here. But it was their little inside joke, and they were all too happy to share it amongst themselves and with all the other leftists who despise conservatives. Now we're supposed to believe that they didn't understand a joke about an aspirin between the knees, just like they couldn't connect the dots between Obama's radical environmental policies and a "phony theology." Give me a break! Paul: Social Conservatism A "Loser" For all those Ron Paul supporters who still think he is the only candidate Christian conservatives should support, think again. On CNN this weekend, Paul said that social issues were "a losing position" for Republicans. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Republican Party is built on Ronald Reagan's three-legged stool of economic conservatives, defense conservatives and social conservatives. Knock out one of those legs and the party falls apart. Paul is trying to knock out two of the three legs of Reagan's winning coalition! Ron Paul is a libertarian. He is no Reagan conservative. Don't Be Discouraged In Friday's report I warned against big media's non-stop effort to discourage conservative voters by convincing them that Obama's reelection is a foregone conclusion. Whether it's the improving economy or GOP infighting, Obama has a lock on reelection -- or so their story goes. I have to confess that I was even starting to worry. For example, Iowa is one of roughly a dozen swing states that will likely decide the outcome of the 2012 contest. Iowa voted for Bush in 2004, but Obama won it by 10 points in 2008. I was concerned that all the negative ads run by the GOP candidates bashing one another in the days before the Iowa caucuses might have put the Hawkeye State out of contention for us. So far that is not the case. A new Des Moines Register poll indicates that Obama would lose the state to three of the four GOP candidates. It is encouraging to see that the negative campaign has not buried all of our candidates in this key state. That said, it is worth taking polls at this stage of the campaign with a grain of salt, or perhaps the whole shaker. Polls are snapshots in time and can be useful for predicting what might happen tomorrow or a few days from now. But it is pointless to try to predict the November results now, which is exactly what the media are trying to do. Eight years ago this month John Kerry led George W. Bush by 12 points. Even former North Carolina Senator John Edwards led Bush by 10 points. In January 1980, Jimmy Carter led Ronald Reagan by 30 points. Don't give up!

Will it be armed citizens who secure the Arizona border?
Feb 21, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins
by Doug Book, staff writer
It's no secret that Barack Hussein Obama and the rest of the American left have been importing illegal aliens in ever increasing numbers for the purpose of supplementing the "dead voter" turnout every November. And as we all know, if illegals committed voter fraud at a 70% clip in favor of Republicans rather than Democrats, the border would be sealed tighter than a drum and states like California would be wondering what to do with their budget surplus.
Last year, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a measure which authorizes the creation of a state guard, that is, a militia which could work either in conjunction with the National Guard, or on its own "...for any reason the governor considers to be necessary." (1)
And now, if a $1.9 million funding bill is passed by the Arizona senate and signed by Brewer, it is estimated that between 250 and 300 members of ... Continue Reading:Will it be armed citizens who secure the Arizona border?

A Revolutionary War Colonel, he built the fortifications at Breed's Hill and commanded the militia at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. He fought in the battles of Long Island in 1776 and Saratoga in 1777. His name was William Prescott, born FEBRUARY 20, 1726. After the Boston Tea Party, where colonists threw 342 chests of British East India tea overboard, Parliament passed the Boston Port Bill, blockading the harbor and starving the inhabitants. The Committee of Correspondence sent word to the other Colonies, who called a Day of Fasting and Prayer, June 1, 1774, "to seek divine direction and aid." In August 1774, William Prescott led the men of Pepperell, Massachusetts, to deliver many loads of rye, telling Boston's inhabitants: "We heartily sympathize with you, and are always ready to do all in our power for your support, comfort and relief, knowing that Providence has placed you where you must stand ... Politics and Religion Do Mix -
Feb 20, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins
by Debbie Leininger, staff writer
"Politics and religion don't mix" is an ill-conceived America adage that has been passed from generation to generation. It is false an ideology and an essential reason why America, the greatest nation on earth has fallen to its knees spiritually, morally, and economically.
The Founding Fathers never envisioned an America where the Bible was out-of-bounds when defining public policy. They unabashedly called upon the name of the Lord God Almighty for His providence and applied His principals when forming the Constitution of the United States of America.
Their words speak for themselves:
* George Washington: "Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor.
* Benjamin Franklin: ""I have lived, sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of ... Continue Reading:Politics and Religion Do Mix -

At the end of last year the media widely trumpeted the "recantation" by Richard Muller, a physics professor at Berkeley. Muller's confession of faith was met with the unreserved glee of fanatics who believe that conversion equals validation of the True Faith. Now Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, a prominent German chemistry professor and Green activist announced that he is coming out with a book breaking with the Warmist view. Naturally this recantation wouldn't receive nearly the same prominence, except when the inevitable stories kick in about Vahrenholt being a tool of the oil companies. But set aside the partisan bickering and one professor accepting a view he had formerly rejected, while another rejects a view he had formerly accepted is all part of the normal scientific debate. The journey from hypothesis to rock solid consensus is a long one and it doesn't end just because Al Gore makes a documentary or a few ads show crying polar bears. Positions are argued, minds change and then a century later the graduate students have fun mocking the ignorance of both sides. That's science. Unfortunately the Cult of Warm doesn't accept that there is a debate. As far as they are concerned the debate never happened because it never needed to happen because they were always right. They can't intelligently address dissent, because their science is not based on discovering the evidence needed to lead to a consensus, but on insisting that there is a consensus and that accordingly there is no need to debate the evidence. In an ordinary scientific debate, a professor leaving one side and enjoying another might occasion some recriminations and namecalling, but it wouldn't make him anathema. But like being gay or Muslim, hopping on board the Warm Train makes you a permanent member and there is no room for changing your mind. Once a Warmist, always a Warmist. That's not a rational position, but then the Cult of Warm is not a rational faith. Read more:

Morning Bell: 'Buying' House Votes for Unpopular Legislation
Lachlan Markay
February 21, 2012
An examination of "administrative earmarks" around the time of congressional votes on key pieces of President Obama's agenda suggests the White House used its power to fund local projects as a means to "buy" votes for major legislative efforts.
Administrative earmarking refers to the federal government's allocation of funds from its discretionary budget for specific projects. The practice is less transparent than legislative earmarking, since, according to the Congressional Research Service, "[t]here is no source that defines and comprehensively identifies Administrative earmarks."
But an analysis of grants from agencies during the early years of the Obama administration shows that the districts of moderate Democrats, whose support was so crucial for Obama during the 111th Congress, received large sums right around the passage of three key pieces of legislation: Obamacare, Dodd-Frank financial regulations, and the cap-and-trade bill.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Valentine's Day came early last week for the American Federation of Teachers.
Last Monday, President Barack Obama unveiled his budget for 2013 which contains $3.8 trillion in spending - but not a dime of support for the very successful D.C. voucher program.
The AFT has long opposed the Opportunity Scholarship Program (the voucher plan's official name) because it allows low-income students in the District of Columbia to escape the union-controlled dropout factories known as D.C. Public Schools. Since 2004, thousands of students have been given vouchers ranging from $8,000 to $12,000 to attend the private school of their choice.
In the AFT's view, not only do vouchers siphon off dollars that should be going to "their" schools, but the success many voucher students achieve through the program exposes the deficiencies of union-run schools. That's why it wants to shut down the program.
And Obama has been a willing accomplice. He tried to snuff out the Opportunity Scholarship Program in 2009 by announcing that no new students would be allowed to join. House Speaker John Boehner got it restored through 2016 as part of last year's budget deal, but that is in jeopardy, as Obama's budget makes clear.
According to the American Federation for Children, OSP students have a "91 percent graduation rate (which) is 21 percentage points higher than those who applied but couldn't get a scholarship."

Despotism, Thy Name is Obamacare
Two years ago, everything about Obamacare was in the future. Recall the revealing comment at the time by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi that Congress had to pass the legislation in order to see what was in it. Now that the disputed law is in its implementation stage, we are beginning to see what is in it and what that is in it means for us. Welcome to the future. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act-better known as Obamacare-is the centerpiece of the current progressive agenda. At its center is the requirement for individuals, as instructed on penalty of law, to buy healthcare insurance. As we have argued before, this claim is unprecedented and unconstitutional. The concern is that if government can regulate inactivity it can do anything, and everything. We now see how this new regime will operate. Massive regulatory authority over one-sixth of the American economy is transferred to a collection of over 150 federal agencies, bureaus, and commissions, along with an unprecedented delegation of power to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. As a result, the key policy decisions are given over to bureaucrats whose "rules" in the guise of "regulations," mostly unaccountable and invisible to the public, have the full force and effect of laws passed by Congress. This new bureaucratic rule, its arbitrary discretion, and resulting potential for cronyism can be seen in Obamacare's earliest actions. In a sign of its benevolent reign, even before the law is fully implemented, administrators have granted almost 2,000 waivers (mostly for union and business friends) to its own healthcare regulations. One whole program (the CLASS Act, Obamacare's long-term care insurance plan) has been unilaterally cancelled as completely unworkable-but kept on the books for possible future implementation. We now have the first real taste of what is to come. Not only do we have to buy health insurance, but now they're telling us what that health insurance will look like. It turns out that under Obamacare, earlier denials to the contrary notwithstanding, all insurance plans must cover, at no charge, abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, sterilization, and patient education and counseling for women of reproductive age. Religious employers such as Catholic hospitals, Christian schools, and faith-based pregnancy care centers will have to provide and pay for such coverage for their employees regardless of their religious beliefs. Although religious institutions vehemently objected that the proposed rule would force them to provide services that as a matter of faith they find morally objectionable, Health and Human Services issued the final rule in its entirety and without the slightest change. This is not a one-time exception to the rule of Obamacare. It is the establishment of the rule itself. One can only imagine what life will be like when the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) begins rationing health benefits to reduce Medicare spending. It is not the details in Obamacare that are the real problem but the form of governance established therein, by which unelected experts are empowered to make the rules as they go along, as they see fit. What is happening has little to do with healthcare or even public policy, and everything to do with the role of government in the most immediate and intimate matters of our lives. All is subject to government control, regulatory dictate, and administrative whim. Nothing will be allowed outside of the new regulatory scheme-no independent state programs, no individuals or businesses permitted not to participate, no true private market alternatives. There should be no surprise here. This is the heart of the progressive project. It is what happens when a model of government focused on determining outcomes, despite good intentions at the start and somewhere along the way, finally acquires the unlimited authority to reshape society to its bureaucratic blueprint.

A Ron Paul Finance Scandal?
By John Tabin on 2.21.12
Roll Call's Jonathan Strong reports that Ron Paul's office has a history of billing both US taxpayers and outside groups for the same flights -- and that he's been confronted about it:
In March 2005, David James called Rep. Ron Paul's (R-Texas) Congressional office for some documentation. James's nonprofit group, the Liberty Committee, had paid for one of Paul's flights, and James needed a receipt or boarding pass to document the expense. He'd been pushing Paul for the paperwork and now, on the phone, he was "putting his foot down." "So I called the office manager," James recalled. "They knew me, like, as well as they knew Ron. And I said, 'Liberty Committee is paying for this expense. I need to get the boarding pass or the ticket or something.'" The office manager said Paul's Congressional office no longer had documentation for that flight; Paul had sent it in to the House Finance Office for reimbursement. But Liberty Committee had already sent a check to American Express to cover the charge on Paul's credit card... In a subsequent conversation, James raised the issue, and Paul "was very curt, and he simply said, 'Yep, well, happens all the time,'" James, 64, told Roll Call.

Then and now: reaction to high gas prices
The media and politicians alike were furious at the outrageously high gas prices under President George W. Bush. The price of gas was routinely under $2 a gallon during both his terms, but that didn't stop the calls for investigations and 'sky is falling' reports from flooding in. That was then - what about now? Considering gas prices are at record highs for this time of year ($3.53 national avg.) and on track to go even higher, one would suspect the media would be even more upset. Only problem is now they either ignore it or report on how high gas prices saves lives. Seriously. WATCH
Was Jesus a communist? Listening to the way modern day Democrats and political hacks like Jim Wallis describe Jesus, that's the impression they leave. Glenn spoke on radio with James Robison about that very topic and how the left has managed to label Jesus a proponent of a big government agenda. Robison, who interviewed MLB superstar Josh Hamilton last week exclusively on GBTV, also talked about this latest book Indivisible on the radio program today. Check out the interview.
Franklin Graham grilled by MSNBC hosts, refuses to say Obama is Christian - FULL STORY. Lin 'controversy' gets worse Yesterday several journalists came under intense and bizarre scrutiny for using the pun 'chink in the armor' in connection with news stories about NBA phenom Jeremy Lin. One of the writers in question is actually married to an Asian woman, the other is a devout Christian who really respects Lin for his faith and demeanor. So why were they reprimanded and fired? Political correctness and special interest groups have media corporations like ABC caving to every little complaint they have. Glenn explains why they do it on radio today. OBAMA: President of Wall Street or Main Street? Glenn talked on radio today about how President Obama, despite his numerous claims that he is fighting for the little guy, actually will end up being the President of Wall Street not Main Street. Drawing on his recent trip to Greece, Glenn explains how the people there can't trust anyone - from the bankers to the protesters. So you have to pick one or the other -- same thing will happen here. Which route will Obama take? Celebrate the extraordinary life of George Washington! Markdown.com is offering a two book package including The Real George Washington and Being George Washington PLUS two pocket constitutions. You'll experience nearly 200 pages of the most insightful passages from Washington's writings. Limited quantities are available for this exclusive package, get yours while supplies last at Markdown.com. Glenn talks with Former Victoria's Secret model Kylie Bisutti: She opens up about her faith and her decision to end her modeling career with Victoria's Secret. WATCH Are social issues a 'losing issue' for GOP in November? Ron Paul accused Rick Santorum of having an atrocious voting record and complained about his stances on conservative social issues. He went so far as to call them 'losing issues' for the GOP in the 2012 election. Is he right? Glenn thinks that Paul may actually be right on this one, arguing that if Santorum continues to allow the press to change the topic from things that actually matter in this election - skyrocketing energy prices, persistently high unemployment, out of control spending - then conservatives will lose. More from radio today.
Conflict imminent? Israel v. Iran Tensions between Iran and Israel have been on high alert for so long the world has become practically immune to it. But rhetoric has elevated in recent weeks and Benjamin Netanyahu's former chief of staff said a strike by Israel on Iran is imminent during a media appearance this week. Does Obama hate the Amish? Find out how he's 'limiting access' and hurting 'women's health' in the Amish community in the latest STU BLOG. Highlights from Glenn's show last night: - World War 3? After meeting with leaders from across Europe, Glenn believes that World War 3 is being fought right now. What are the weapons? Money, oil, and more.
- Footage from Glenn's visit to Athens, Greece: What he saw there was a scary preview of what could be coming to the rest of the world as socialism grows and spreads.
