OBAMA AND OCCUPY WALL STREET - REELECT HIM AND YOU GET THEM
GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary
By Don Feder
02/07/2012

In the 1992 campaign, Hillary Clinton was given to cavorting about the stage at campaign events telling audiences: "Vote for him (Bill) and you get me! It's a two-fer!"

The most radical president in history and the most radical political movement since the '60s are also like shampoo and conditioner packaged together. Reelect Barack Obama and you'll get the Occupy Wall Street Movement.

President Obama is OWS in a suit, with an expensive haircut. The socialist slobs who've occupied public places around the country and the ideologue who occupies the White House are soul mates joined at the agenda.

You probably didn't know that right-to-lifers are tools of Wall Street bankers. Neither did they. But at recent pro-life observances in Washington, D.C and Providence, the vanguard of the "99%" threw boxes of condoms at Catholic school girls. Additionally, in the Rhode Island capital they screamed and blew whistles to keep a priest from offering an invocation.

Our president isn't nearly as crude. Instead of throwing condoms at Catholics, through HHS regulations, he's going to force Catholic charities, schools and hospitals to provide contraceptives to employees, contravening Church doctrine.

In the past week, Occupy Oakland showed its true colors - red, with a black swastika in a white circle. Enraged by the city's refusal to let them use the Kaiser Convention Center as a "permanent headquarters," the leftist storm-troopers assaulted police with rocks and bottles, broke into city hall and committed various acts of vandalism, including cutting electrical wires and burning an American flag.

As Old Glory burned, one protestor was caught on camera reciting the following: "I pledge allegiance to the imperialistic, capitalistic, dictatorship. And to the plutocracy for which it stands, privately owned central bank, under the Jews, with inequality and injustice for the 99 (percent)."

The Reverend Jeremiah ("G-d damn America!") Wright, who schooled the president in the left's version of Christianity, concurs.

In a January 8th posting on his website, Wright wrote: "Because of the greed of the 1 percent, the other 99 percent of the population have been reduced to working for lower wages... the unchecked greed of the capitalist elite (symbolized by the banks) impoverishes the majority of people and undermines our democracy." Given the Rev. Jeremiah's own obsession with "Zionists," I'm surprised the central-bank-under-the Jews pledge didn't also make it on his website.

More than 400 were arrested in the latest Oakland orgy. Criminality (trespass, vandalism, assault and drug use) have been part of OWS from its September 17 debut. On November 22, 4,049 were arrested in a confrontation with police during a march across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ah, youthful exuberance. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Occupiers "young," "spontaneous," and "focused" - on crackpot conspiracy theories, mayhem and Marxism.

Appreciation for the infantile leftists runs deep in the Democratic Party and among progressives generally. Former DNC Chairman Howard Dean confesses, "I'm glad to see all these young people on Wall Street." Congressman Keith Ellison (who took the oath of office on a Koran) argues, "Occupy Wall Street's anger is justified." Vice President Joe Biden explained the movement's impetus - "The American people do not think the system is fair or on the level."

In November, Van Jones, Obama's former Green Jobs Czar and a "911 Truther" and self-described "revolutionary," warned, "You haven't seen anything yet."

The president started by saying he "understand(s) the frustrations that are being expressed" by OWS. Later, he told Occupiers in New Hampshire, "You are the reason I ran for office.' Was this ever in doubt?

Like Obama himself, Occupy Wall Street is also supported by Ex-Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers, Soros-funded MoveOn.Org, organized labor - and the Communist Party USA, which dubbed the OWS gang "courageous, young people" fighting "racism," "imperialism" and other evil isms.

Like Obama, the reality of Occupy Wall Street is light-years away from the hype. No, they're not youthful idealists - Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in a Hollywood musical: "Hey kids, let's put on a political show!"

What do Occupiers want? (Cue "The Internationale.") They see America as "ruthless," driven by a predatory culture which "always minimizes costs and maximizes profits," where "growth for the sake of growth is the ideal." All of which results in "lives" treated like "commodities to be bought and sold on the open market" and "economic inequality that is foreclosing our future."

OWS guru Kalle Lasn calls it the "dog-eat-dog world of capitalism," unlike those cuddly places where profits, growth for the sake of growth and income inequality have been banished - such as Cuba and North Korea, whose starving masses count themselves lucky if they have dogs to eat.

Postings on the OWS site demand a 6-hour work day, a moratorium on foreclosures and layoffs, retirement at 55 with full Social Security benefits, taxing the "very rich" up to 90% of their income, factory workers electing their supervisors, "forgiveness" of student loans, an $18-an-hour minimum wage, and the heavens opening and raining pistachio ice cream on the kiddies.

In October, 2011, "New York" magazine published the results of a survey of 100 hardcore OWS protestors in Manhattan.

Almost half (45%) said capitalism is "inherently immoral" and "can't be saved." In a similar survey, 65% said government has a responsibility to provide health care, a college education and a secure retirement - regardless of the cost. According to 77%, this should be paid for with additional taxes on the rich.

While 98% support civil disobedience, a significant 31% believe violence is justified when perpetrated in the name of the people. Obama hinted at the same in his Osawatomie speech, when he praised John Brown's "willingness to spill blood (in Kansas) and not just words in behalf of his visions, that helped force the issue" of slavery.

In another survey based on 198 face-to-face interviews conducted in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park in the first month of the occupation, 74% said they voted for the Great Community Organizer in 2008, (Shocker!), while 48% said they'd do so again and another 27% said that (while clearly disappointed by Obama's failure to abolish the Constitution, private property and the law of cause and effect), they might support him when he ran for reelection. Clearly, OWS is Obama country.

The president is the movement's godfather. Like OWSers, Obama is constantly ragging on "millionaires and billionaires," "corporate jet owners" and "bankers on Wall Street" out to downsize the American dream.

You'd think they'd forced lenders to give highly-leveraged mortgages to high-risk borrowers (creating a house-of-cards waiting for a seismic shift), ran up the national debt more than 50%, and increased the price of gas at the pump almost 100% since January 21, 2009.

The "same folks whose irresponsible actions got us into the mess we're in," are now "trying to fight efforts to crack down on abusive practices" of lenders and investors, Obama warns. "The free market has never been a license to take whatever you can from whomever you can," the president thunders, implying that for greedy capitalists (a redundancy in Obama's mind) the free market has been just such an excuse for pillage.

And the president's intimate knowledge of the workings of the marketplace is based on what - hearsay? "Occupy a desk," a Wall Street worker growled at Occupiers as he crossed a picket line last fall. When did Obama last sit behind a desk in a for-profit business?

As a result of the machinations of these malefactors of corporate-jetism, "millions of working families in this country... are now forced to take their children to food banks for a decent meal," the president bloviated at a recent appearance. The scruffy sluggard holding a "Capitalism = Systematic Exploitation" sign at an OWS encampment has nothing on the President of the United States.

Like the Occupiers, the presidential wealth-spreader has no shortage of ideas to radically transform America. After nationalizing two of the Big Three automakers and the health care industry (one-fifth of the economy), the president wants tighter regulation of banks and $10 billion in underwater mortgages, owned by 3.5 million homeowners, refinanced by the FHA, following his success at federalizing student loans.

And then there's the rich - the parasitical rich, the "irresponsible rich," the rich who aren't paying their "fair share." Like the 77% of Occupiers who want to soak the wealthy, Obama wants to pour ice water over the nation's most productive citizens.

The president knows that the top 1% of income earners already pay 38% of all federal taxes. What's fair - total confiscation? But if you took all of the wealth of the much-maligned 1% (about $938 billion), it would run the federal government for roughly three months. Then what?

Then Obama would continue to shift the blame for Democrat policies to Wall Street, big banks and the 1%. And then the OWS goons would burn down the National Archives Building, with its plutocratic Constitution and Declaration of Independence. And then Obama would be reelected. And then: Utopia here we come.

The president and the protestors are alike in other ways. Obama too is a criminal who regularly violates his oath of office and the Constitution (example: his "recess appointments while Congress was in session).

Both have a virulent hatred of Israel. The executive director of the Arab-American Action Network told a cheering crowd of Chicago Occupiers, "Israel is beginning to be seen as the criminal pariah state that it is." When they staged a sit-in at the Israeli Consulate in Boston last November, OWS protestors chanted "Hey Hey, Ho Ho! Israeli apartheid's got to go."

Each is, at the least, willing to tolerate anti-Semitism.

OWS has done nothing to dissociate itself from the most blatant Jew hatred in its midst, like Los Angeles protestor Patricia McAllister, then an employee of the L.A. Unified School District, who told an interviewer that "Zionist Jews ... are running these big banks and the Federal Reserve." It's surprising that they don't distribute "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" at Occupy events.

About the time McAllister was exposing Jewish control of the financial sector, Howard Gutman, Obama's creepy ambassador to Belgium, explained to a conference that the Jews had no one but themselves to blame for the violence directed at them in Europe, because of "tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories." This sounded eerily like Nazi apologists blaming Kristallnacht on the Jews' "disproportionate influence" on German society.

I am not suggesting that Occupiers will occupy cabinet posts in a second Obama administration. The president isn't that obvious. Besides, he'd need a much better ventilation system in the Cabinet Room.

But on a host of issues - economic, foreign policy, social - it's their ideology which will drive Obama's second term, when he'll have nothing to lose.

They are his constituency, his conscience, his alter ego. What Sarah Palin is to the Tea Parties, Barrack Hussein Obama is to Occupy Wall Street.

Santorum shakes up GOP race with three-for-three finish

FoxNews.com | Published February 08, 2012

Santorum's Sweep Shakes Up RaceThe Republican presidential contest is a two-man race no more.

Rick Santorum proved that the 2012 primary election still has a few surprises left, after he went three for three in Tuesday's contests and once again shook up the GOP nomination battle.

Santorum, in perhaps the biggest upset of the night, was declared the winner of the Colorado caucuses -- a contest Mitt Romney had been leading in recent polls and won in the 2008 race. The former Pennsylvania senator also won the Minnesota caucuses and the non-binding Missouri GOP primary.

Insurgency in America?
Insurgency in America?

Editor's note: This story has now been updated with information from Glenn Beck's Tuesday night broadcast. The text report below has been updated with some of the pictures from GBTV broadcast. The most graphic of the photos we are including only in the video for GBTV subscribers in the on-demand version of the full broadcast that can be seen here

As America prepares to draw down from wars abroad, it faces a new conflict as a vicious drug war spills across our southern border with Mexico.

Former Border Patrol Agent Zachary Taylor told The Blaze just how grave the threat really is.

Taylor broke down the imminent dangers and expanded upon the case that the U.S.-Mexico border has become the soft underbelly of U.S homeland defense.

You may recall that major media outlets rejoiced and the markets jumped last Friday when the January jobs report was released.

"Labor Department today lowered the U.S. unemployment rate by two-tenths of a point to 8.3 percent, the lowest it's been since February 2009," Emily Knapp of Wall St. Cheat reported, "January data showed nonfarm payrolls to have risen a whopping 243,000, wildly exceeding even the most optimistic of economists' projections."

However, although the markets did indeed react positively to the good news, many analysts were skeptical of the data in the report.

"A month ago, we joked when we said that for Obama to get the unemployment rate to negative by election time, all he has to do is to crush the labor force participation rate to about 55 [percent]," editors at Zero Hedge wrote.

Who Is Paying for the Two-Month Extension of the Payroll Tax Cut?

The Blaze | by Becket Adams | Posted on February 7, 2012 at 8:47pm

Who Is Paying for the Two-Month Extension of the Payroll Tax Cut?Remember when, just before Christmas, it was announced that the current payroll tax cut was going to be extended for two months?

During all of the congratulatory remarks and back-patting, you know what the architects of the two-month tax cut failed to mention? They failed to mention the fact that they were going to pay for the whole thing with "hidden" mortgage fees.

That's right, D.C. is financing the two-month tax cut with what has turned into a brand new fee on home buyers.

How is that supposed to work?

Only True Copy of the Declaration of Independence

to be Displayed in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - One of America 's most successful history detectives and his greatest discovery, the only true copy of our Declaration of Independence, will be in Doylestown on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Moose Lodge, 127 E. State Street beginning at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.  Local historian Tom Lingenfelter will be on hand to tell the remarkable story of how he found the document and its significance to our nation's history.

After almost a decade of research, Lingenfelter unlocked the mystery behind the elaborate 170 year cover-up of the original Declaration's destruction. This anastatic facsimile copy of the original Declaration was not even known to exist prior to its discovery by Lingenfelter nearly twenty years ago.  Lingenfelter is giving the public an opportunity to view the Declaration as it might have looked in 1776.  The event at the Moose Lodge is a rare opportunity to see the Birth Certificate of Freedom in its complete readable form before it begins its National Treasure Tour. The evening is sponsored by Heritage Collectors' Society and the GOP 8th District Delegate candidates for Ron Paul.

Kitchen Table Patriots

Sometimes when you stand up to the establishment,
it doesn't always go well.
Bunker Hill - A rabble of patriots up against the most powerful force on the planet. Yea, they lost, but they let the British know that they were a force to be reckoned with.
But that does not mean it is not worth the fight.

There are two ways of interpreting the decision by the Republican State Committee to endorse candidates on Saturday, January 28 at their winter meeting:
  1. The State committee is completely out of touch with the Republican base and especially the grassroots activists (Tea Party) that we should have no respect for them at all.
  2. The fact that there was even a discussion about the appropriateness of endorsing candidates for the primary and that the vote was 200 in favor and 142 against is a sign that the grassroots are beginning the process of changing the political process in Pennsylvania.

We are inclined to believe the second interpretation. As much as we would have liked to have had the PA GOP agree to not endorse and the fact that there was an effort to prevent grassroots leaders from even being in the PA GOP meeting.

There were a dozen or so stories in local media about the controversy over the endorsement process. Here are links to just a few:

There were many grassroots groups that protested the matter (A letter that was given to the Chairman of the PA GOP from these groups is available here). There was also a press conference and a demonstration at the winter meeting.

Does anyone remember anything like this when Pat Toomey ran against Arlen Specter?

We are making a difference. But in order to make a real difference, we need people to get involved in their local committees. To get on the ballot requires 10 signatures from your precinct. We can help with that process. What we need are principled people who are willing to work not only from the outside, but also from the inside where these decisions are made.

Local committee seats are filled during the primary every two years.

State committee seats are filled every four years.

Become a local committee person now ow sign up to work to get a candidate elected now.

We can build a base and run candidates in 2014 for State committee.

This is a long process. We need not only principled individuals, but those with the perseverance to hold on for the long haul.

Here is how Jaime Faucette from Citizens for Constitutional Government put it to a committee person who was thinking of resigning over the issue:

We are not defeated. This was not the war. This was only one battle. And we will persevere to fight another day, and another, and another, committee seat by committee seat, State Committee seat by State Committee seat, in each of our boroughs, townships, and counties, whittling away little by little at this mammoth power structure until in time it crumbles - IF we don't quit now.

The atmosphere is changing. YOU ARE CHANGING IT. But more change is needed.

Here is the way another tea party activist put it:

The people of the movement need to be reminded of what they worked so hard for and this is the time to stand up and "fight the system". This fight is a good thing. It demonstrates true debate and resolution (like how the framers fought over the writing of the constitution) when was the last time we saw Democrats fight over what was best for the people?

There are glimmers of hope. There is a cut in the fabric of "politics as usual".

It will take time to pull back the veil. Grab a knife and grab hold.

WE (that includes YOU) can do this.

Here is the beginning of the letter from the conservative grassroots leaders presented to Chairman Gleason:

Rob Gleason

Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania

112 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101

Friday, January 27, 2012

Chairman Gleason,

As grassroots conservative leaders, we are all united in our desire to defeat President Obama and Senator Casey. We were excited by the resounding Republican victories in 2010 and 2011 and the conservative message these candidates espoused.

We are concerned that the Republican State Committee is seeking to make an endorsement in the hotly contested U.S. Senate primary. We believe this would be a mistake as there are many strong candidates in this race.

If you are willing to stand on a street corner with a sign or go to a Townhall meeting and tell politicians how you feel, then you should consider running for your local Republican Committee

Dear Patriot,

Carried by Richard Nixon in all five presidential elections and by Ronald Regan all four times he ran, California, where European-Americans are now a shrinking minority, is a state where the Republican Party faces extinction.  John McCain's 2008 general election vote was a mere 36% in California, handing Barack Obama 55 votes of the Electoral College and eclipsing the GOP's capture of the entire mid-West with just one state.

Demographics are destiny.  Many have read Patrick Buchanan's latest best-seller, "Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025."  It is a telling forecast of the decline of the West and what the future may hold.

Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, we strive to present speakers and issues that you will find nowhere else.  We are a non-partisan, issues-oriented organization and believe in presenting on a variety of challenging topics, including the issues of national identity, immigration and America's historic lineage of Western Culture.

On Sunday, February 12th at 7pm we will present Filip Dewinter, member of the Belgian and European Parliament.  Mr. Dewinter is the leader of Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest), the main opposition party in Belgium.  He will discuss from the front lines the challenges for Western Civilization in Europe and its parallels to the United States.  This event will be held at The Temperance House, 5 South State Street, Newtown, PA.

For a brief overview of Mr. Dewinter and the freedom movement in Europe, please view this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjoLqlJDgGI.

All the best,

Jeff McGeary

Occupy DC, union thugs plan mayhem, violence at CPAC conference

Joe Newby
Spokane Conservative Examiner

According to a report by Lachlan Markay of the Heritage Foundation, Occupy DC protesters plan to violently disrupt an upcoming conservative conference to be held later this week.

Markay adds that protesters plan to use "a range of potentially illegal tactics that could even include violence against participants."

Citing an anonymous source who wat at a Thursday meeting of Occupy DC activists, Markay wrote:

The protesters suggested pulling fire alarms in the hotel where the conference will take place, screaming "fire" during conference activities, "glitter-bombing" participants, cutting electrical power, and barricading entrances to the hotel, according to the source, who requested anonymity.

"Speakers will be physically assaulted, not just verbally confronted," the source told Scribe in an email. Two Occupiers, who the source also identified as members of the New Black Panther Party, "said they would be disappointed if they didn't get arrested and planned to 'make it count.'"

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."

But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress

Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:

  • Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
  • Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
  • Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care

The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID

"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere.
My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why?

Louis:
Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934).
The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward.
I would advise you to contact the Senators who comprise the Senate State Government Committee, those in Senate leadership positions and your local Senator to let them know of your desire to move this forward. Also you may ask for an accounting of why this has been held up and not considered.
Please let me know if I can help with other state-related matters.

Voter Cheating

You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian.
Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.

Background

There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:

a)     12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934

Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand.
I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...

b)     Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID

"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well.
"It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."

c)      Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)

Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh)
"Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918.
"Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

d)     Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler:  No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)

"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens.
"I can vote twenty-two times.
"You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once).

e)     11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives

"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include:
* Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate)
* Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman)
* Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in
ACORN's 2005 annual report)
* Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with
Justice)
* Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA)
* Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA)
* Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson)
Action United is located  at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf

There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project.
There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor.
Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's:
"The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/
There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs:

"Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night.
"The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29...
A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement.
"He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..."
http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/

What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"?
Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November.
On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things.
The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

PA implementing ObamaCare exchanges

I wanted to update you on the exchange situation.  First, unfortunately we are getting started late in the game.  Having spoken with 4 different legislators (Rep Saylor, Boyd, Bear, and Sen Waugh), I believe the general sense on their part is that they want to be prepared to set up an exchange if SCOTUS doesn't  declare ObamaCare unconstitutional.

Their reasoning for supporting the exchange is that PA will have more control if PA sets up the exchange rather than the feds.  We have been arguing that in fact: the exchange structure and operation is dictated by the feds, through law and regulation, regardless if the state sets it up or not; that whatever little "control" a PA would have does not mitigate any of the true horrors of the law; establishing the exchange legitimizes PPACA and undercut PA's federal lawsuit against PPACA, creates more PA expense and government, scedes state sovereignty, misses an opportunity to block the law and to have standing for further legal action.  (please see attached documents if you want more explanation).

We have more legislator visits planned, but it is clear to me that none of the legislators thus far will take on this fight.  We must generate the grass roots response to move them to do so.  It is disgusting that our Republican Governor and legislature can't pass meaningful right to work legislation, LCB reform, PA TPK Commission reform, school reform, etc but unless we respond in a big way, will make PA government bigger, make PA government poorer, harm PA citizen liberty and health by implementing an exchange.

I have contacted Campaign for Liberty to see if they are interested in coordinating efforts to stop the exchange.  I will also contact the PA Manufacturer's Association and the Chamber of Commerce, both of whom support repeal of PPACA, also for potential coordination of activities.

We are working on an on-line petition rejecting PPACA and the exchanges for PA physicians to sign and ultimately deliver by several physicians to Harrisburg.

On Wednesday, I participated in a debate put on by the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform (Donna Rovito).  Leo Knepper and I presented the anti-exchange positition while a rep from the PA Dept of Insurance and Dr Schmeltz of the PA Medical Society presented the for pro position.  For what it is worth, I believe we had the more compelling argument.

I welcome any thought you all have.

This exchange is going to happen unless we act together in a big way.

Rohrer Wins Valley Forge Straw Poll

By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

The Republican primary for U.S. Senate is heating up in the wake of Steve Welch's endorsement by GOP state committee, and Tim Burns' departure from the race. The frenzied pace of forums and straw polls continued over the weekend.

The Associated Press is tuning in, covering a candidates forum Saturday in Phoenixville hosted by the Valley Forge Patriots, a Tea Party group:

"The size of the deficit and the reach of the federal government were key topics that the candidates spent much of the 80-minute forum answering questions about from an audience of more than 200. A Tea Party-aligned group organized the event, and calls to defeat President Barack Obama drew louder applause than calls to defeat Casey."

Sam Rohrer, a former State Rep. who the AP noted lives about 20 miles away from Phoenixville, won the ensuing straw poll far and away. he defeated Welch, who lives about 8 miles away.

The final tally was Rohrer 104; Marc Scaringi 24; Welch 18, and Tom Smith 6.

1. Susan G. Komen Listened. Have You Responded?

Yesterday, the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced it would stop giving money to Planned Parenthood. Conservatives have been pushing on this issue for a while.

As a result of the announcement, the left has gone on the attack. It is important that you who wanted Komen to do this say thank you. You can email them at news@Komen.org.

More importantly, you can donate to them. If you are not willing to support an organization that takes a stand you want when they come under attack, you cannot be surprised when less organizations listen to you.

So say thank you.

2. The Fat Lady Hasn't Sung, But She's Warming Up

If I were a national Republican operative, I'd be very worried about tonight. If I were a Mitt Romney fan, I'd be ecstatic.

The Romney win in Florida was huge. He won the hispanic vote. He split tea party activists and evangelicals. He won where people live. Gingrich won the panhandle and largely tied in the few northern Florida population centers, but it was Romney's night.

He is on the way toward the nomination. The fat lady is warming up. But it is not a done deal yet. He still has a fractured base and lost the heart of the base. He has trouble with tea party activists and evangelicals though he roughly tied with Gingrich in capturing their support, and he has trouble with strong conservatives. Nonetheless, his get out the vote operation was a phenomenal success and the 15 to 1 advertising ratio in his favor clinched it for him. Ron Brownstein has a solid analysis on Romney's win.

It is worth nothing that in the last week of the race only 0.1% of advertising was pro-Romney and roughly 70% was anti-Gingrich.

The panhandle held for Gingrich, which is more typical of a number of upcoming primaries than the rest of the state.

Here's why I'd be nervous if I were a GOP operative.

3. The Bad Messaging of the Newt Gingrich Super PAC

I was surprised to land in Miami today for CNN's coverage of the Florida Presidential Preference Primary and hear one Newt Super PAC ad over and over. I heard it on rock stations. I heard it on Rush Limbaugh. I heard it on a sports talk station.

It attacked Mitt Romney for abortion. Abortion. In a state with a massive housing crisis and a state that led the way in the fight on Obamacare, the Newt Super PAC decided to run ads in Miami, FL on abortion.

There is just one ad that the Newt Super PAC needs to run and that the Newt campaign itself needs to run. They need to take Rick Santorum's attack on Romneycare from the CNN Jacksonville, FL debate and turn it into a commercial.

4. The Inconvenient Constitution

As a United States Senator, I have sworn an oath to support, defend, and bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States. Complying with this Oath is not always convenient. Sometimes this requires voting against legislation that embodies policies I agree with, other times it requires taking a stand when doing so may not be popular.

The Constitution itself is not a document of convenience. It specifies an onerous process - bicameralism and presentment - with which the government must comply to enact legislation. And it imposes separation of government powers and a system of checks and balances between the different branches.

Use Joseph Schumpeter's birthday (February 8) as an excuse to explain exactly what was wrong with Obama's "Porkulus" package

Using taxpayers' money to prop up failing industries that the market no longer deems viable is a classic socialist error: what a healthy economy really needs is Schumpeter's "creative destruction," whereby the death of an old industry creates space for the birth of a new industry, which in turn generates more money and more jobs. Explain that the reasons socialists like Obama hate this process are a) they can't control it, and b) it works.

Archbishop to U.S. Troops: Obamacare Reg 'Is a Blow to a Freedom...for Which You Have Seen Your Buddies Fall in Battle'

(CNSNews.com) - Archbishop Timothy Broglio, who leads the Roman Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services, wrote a letter to be read at all Sunday Masses for U.S. military personnel around the world that said that a regulation issued by the Obama Administration under the new federal health care law was "a blow" to a freedom that U.S. troops have not only fought to defend but for which some have recently died in battle.

"It is a blow to a freedom that you have fought to defend and for which you have seen your buddies fall in battle," the archbishop wrote.

*** LEGISLATIVE ALERT ***

UPDATE ON ACT! FOR AMERICA'S
LIST OF HIGH PRIORITY LEGISLATION
IN THE 112
TH CONGRESS

by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations

The second half of the 112
th Congress has just begun and I thought it would be a good time to update everyone on the status of legislation on ACT! for America's "High Priority List." These are legislative proposals that have been introduced in the 112th Congress that we feel are important to our national security interests and which we have publicly endorsed and are actively supporting via the national office and our grassroots base.

Please go to the Contact Congress page on our website to learn more about each of these bills and to send a pre-written e-mail of support to your Members of Congress. It couldn't be easier and it's so very important. Each of you plays an important role in seeing these critical proposals move through the legislative process successfully. As you'll see, many are "stuck in committee." These proposals will move further through the legislative process only if your federal legislators hear from you.

A UN Farce in Syria
If anyone is to blame for Russia and China's vetoing of the Syria resolution in the UN Security Council, it's Barack Obama. Last year the United States and the Arab League brought forward a No Fly Zone to the UN Security Council. Instead of enforcing a No Fly Zone, Obama, Cameron and Sarkozy instead used it as an excuse for an invasion and regime change. If Russia and China refused to take another plan from the same suspects at face value, the blame lies with an administration that abused a No Fly Zone.

The message from Russia and China is fairly clear. Fool me once, shame on you. But don't even think about trying it twice.

A closer look at the whole process reveals the ridiculousness of it. The Security Council Resolution  calling for peaceful democratic change was co-sponsored by Saudi Arabia, which is an absolute monarchy, and which recently used tanks to suppress protests in Bahrain. As the driving force behind the Arab League, Saudi Arabia was the key player in moving for regime change in Libya. Now it has rubber stamped regime change in Syria.

But why are we expected to take a call by one tyranny for the overthrow of another as a moral duty. As bad as the Assad regime is, Syria is marginally more open and democratic than Saudi Arabia is. And unlike Saudi Arabia, it isn't an Apartheid state that treats non-Muslims and women like dirt. If we were going to implement regime change on the basis of democracy and human rights, we would start with the Saudis.

Of the Muslim co-sponsors of the UN Resolution, virtually all of them have suppressed opposition movements and imprisoned political dissidents. Bahrain is another co-sponsor of the resolution and the only difference between it and Syria, is that Bahrain is a Sunni minority ruling over a Shiite minority, while in Syria it's the other way around. Kuwait ethnically cleansed the Palestinians back in the nineties. Turkey is still conducting an occupation and murdering Kurdish civilians. Libya doesn't have an actual elected government, but it's still somehow sponsoring UN resolutions for regime change in another country.

Of the nine Muslim co-sponsors that have actual governments... eight are monarchies. Most are even absolute monarchies. The only quasi-democracy on the list is Turkey which has prisons filled with dissidents, persecutes minorities and continues to deny its genocidal actions. Not to mention its violation of UN resolutions on Cyprus.

Muslim absolute monarchies are calling for implementing democratic change in Syria. Did monarchies which torture and execute dissenters expected anyone to believe that they were concerned because the Assad family was killing opponents of the regime? Two of the co-sponsors had been doing the same thing last year. One of the co-sponsors is busy torturing former members of its regime right now.

The UN Resolution was based around the Plan of Action of the League of Arab States based on an observer mission to Syria headed by General Mohammed Ahmed Mustafa al-Dabi. Al-Dabi headed up the Sudanese genocide, he is the pet thug of Sudan's indicted war criminal leader, Omar al-Bashir and helped create the Janjaweed rape squads.

Obama has been on the record opposing any military intervention in Sudan, despite the fact that an actual genocide did take place there. But now we are being led by the Gulf Cooperation Council members into another regime change plan. The loudest voice calling for military intervention is Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani, the fat smirking thug running Qatar.

Another of the Al-Thani clan, who serves as foreign minister, said, "We ask that the Syrian regime leave and hand over power. We are with the Syrian people, with their will and with their aspirations." The Al-Thanis, who rule in an absolute monarchy, are the last people to be cheering on the aspirations of the people. The Al-Thanis can't see the people from their palaces.

And who are the Syrian people anyway? Is it the Sunnis or the Alawites or the Christians? This isn't a civil war between a dictator and his people, no matter how often the media and foreign policy experts will repeat the lie, it's a religious conflict between a ruling Shiite splinter sect and Sunnis backed by Turkey and Arabian Gulf monarchies.

The 57 State Doofus Report: To regain his "cool" Obama's rehearsed his "spontaneous" Al Green song

Feb 07, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

As a public service The 57 State Doofus Report will appear here as new items from our teleprompter president provide them. This material comes from The Ulsterman Report.

The Potemkin presidency has produced another unsurprising "surprise."  According to the buzz in Washington political insider circles Barack Obama's "spontaneous" rendition of an old Al Green Soul hit "Let's stay together" was "rehearsed to death." It is not clear whether the Doofus in Chief used a teleprompter but he did use a cue card and the whole staged event was arranged because Obama is trying to be "cool" again. Being "cool" translates into getting the halfwits in or colleges to vote for him so he'll cancel their student loans - yes these simpletons actually believe that!

Searching for his lost "cool"

UR quotes Obama as saying he wants to be cool again as he was in 2008. Specifically he ... Continue Reading:The 57 State Doofus Report: To regain his "cool" Obama's rehearsed his "spontaneous" Al Green song

Darrell Issa to finally put Eric Holder behind bars?

Feb 06, 2012 01:13 pm | Coach Collins

by Doug Book,  staff writer

As a result of his refusal to honor House committee subpoenas demanding the release of some 70 thousand Fast and Furious-related documents currently withheld by the Department of Justice, Eric Holder faces the very real possibility of arrest and imprisonment by the House of Representatives.

"Your actions lead us to conclude that the [Justice] Department is actively engaged in a cover-up," wrote House Government Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa to Attorney General Holder just two days before his February 2nd testimony before the Committee. (1)

Stating what interested Americans have known for a year or more, Issa speaks of the contempt in which the Attorney General holds the Republican led House of Representatives and his resulting willingness to ignore subpoenas and set the terms under which he will permit DOJ officials to produce documents or respond to Committee questions.

"During your testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on December 8th, 2011, ... Continue Reading:Darrell Issa to finally put Eric Holder behind bars?

Former DEA Chief: Hezbollah Eyeing Southwest Border, 'Hell to Pay in the Not Too Distant Future'

(CNSNews.com) - The Iranian-supported Shi'ite terrorist group Hezbollah has spread its influence all the way to the U.S. border with Mexico, a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Iran's influence in the Western Hemisphere heard on Thursday.

Michael Braun, a former chief of operations at the Drug Enforcement Agency, said Hezbollah had developed relationships with the powerful Mexican drug cartels to "move their agenda forward." He cited a plot, recently uncovered by the DEA, involving an Iranian operative in Mexico allegedly planning to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, D.C.

Lincoln: The Father of Big Government?

To sell his tax-code tweaks, new regulatory schemes, and insatiable ardor for big government, President Obama invoked Abraham Lincoln in his State of the Union Address: "I'm a Democrat. But I believe what Republican Abraham Lincoln believed: That government should do for people only what they cannot do better by themselves, and no more." This isn't the first time Barack Obama has co-opted Lincoln's legacy: Obama launched his 2008 presidential campaign in Springfield, Illinois where, wouldn't you know it, another lanky lawyer from Illinois launched his. And it won't be the last: February 12 is Abraham Lincoln's birthday, another opportunity for Obama to praise the Great Emancipator for expanding the reach of government.

Obamacare vs. the Catholics

The administration's breach of faith.
Jonathan V. Last
February 13, 2012, Vol. 17, No. 21

On the last weekend of January, priests in Catholic churches across America read extraordinary letters to their congregations. The missives informed the laity that President Obama and his administration had launched an assault on the church. In Virginia, Catholics heard from Bishop Paul Loverde, who wrote, "I am absolutely convinced that an unprecedented and very dangerous line has been crossed." In Phoenix, Bishop Thomas Olmsted wrote, "We cannot-we will not-comply with this unjust law." In Pittsburgh, Bishop David Zubik wrote that President Obama had told Catholics, "To Hell with your religious beliefs." Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria asked his flock to join him in the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, which concludes: By the Divine Power of God / cast into Hell, Satan and all the evil spirits / who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Obama campaign blurs the line with super PAC

Written on February 7, 2012

At first blush, the announcement that President Obama's campaign is encouraging donors to give to the supposedly outside group supporting his candidacy would appear to violate the laws separating the two organizations. But technically, it is legal, according to the Federal Election Commission and watchdog groups.

In an email to supporters yesterday, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said, "The campaign has decided to do what we can, consistent with the law, to support Priorities USA (Action) in its effort to counter the weight of the GOP super PACs."

Messina announced that White House, cabinet, and campaign officials "will attend and speak at Priorities USA (Action) fundraising events," though neither the Obamas nor the Bidens will do so.

"This decision will help fill a hole on our side," Messina said, referring to the current imbalance of the tens of millions of dollars Republican-leaning super PACs have raised and spent this campaign season.

College vending machine dispenses 'morning-after' pill

Written on February 7, 2012

Students at Shippensburg University in central Pennsylvania can get the "morning-after" pill by sliding $25 into a vending machine installed at the request of the student government.

The Etter Health Center at Shippensburg, a public school of 8,300 students in Appalachia's scenic Cumberland Valley, provides the Plan B One Step emergency contraceptive along with condoms, decongestants and pregnancy tests.

The pill is available without a prescription to anyone 17 or older, and the school checked records and found that all current students are that age or older, spokesman Peter Gigliotti said.

The machine was installed after a request from the student association. The pill's availability in a vending machine appears to be rare, if not unprecedented.

The idea started when Shippensburg conducted a survey about health center services several years ago, and 85 percent of the respondents supported making Plan B available, he said.

COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 273 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS

BREAKING NEWS: TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE "IRRATIONAL"

The Ninth "Circus" Court of Appeals has struck again. Today, a divided three-judge panel overruled the majority of California voters and struck down Proposition 8 -- the state's constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The court's majority ruled that traditional marriage "fails to advance any rational basis." So in spite of thousands of years of recorded history, in spite of the values held by every major faith, in spite of basic biology and common sense and in spite of the will of the people, these left-wing judicial ideologues believe that normal marriage is irrational.

Here's the bottom line: The culture war is real. The left does not intend to allow these issues to be decided by the people in their respective states. Obama and the left will use the courts to force their radical agenda down our throats.

But there is a solution: Federal judges, including Supreme Court justices, are nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate. The solution is to elect men and women to public office -- from the White House down -- who will respect the Constitution and unapologetically defend our values!

As this report warns, an Obama second term will "allow him to expand his replacement of Republican-appointed majorities with Democratic ones on the nation's appeals courts, the final stop for almost all challenged federal court rulings." In other words, with four more years, Obama can pack the courts with left-wing radicals.

No matter what you might think about the eventual GOP nominee, this issue alone should drive conservatives to the polls in November to vote Obama out and elect as many pro-family, pro-life conservatives to the United States Senate and the House of Representatives as possible!

Please click here now to make an emergency donation to stop the assault on our values by bringing the Obama nightmare to an end in 273 days.

Obama Unites The Faithful

The nation's Catholic leaders are ratcheting up the pressure on the Obama Administration in response to a series of actions that violate church teachings and in some cases appear motivated by anti-Catholic bias. The latest incident is the administration's mandate requiring religious institutions to provide coverage for contraception, sterilization and even abortion-inducing drugs in their health insurance. Church leaders have warned that the mandate forces them to choose between offering health insurance and violating their core moral code.

Bill Donohue of the Catholic League warned, "Never before, unprecedented in American history, for the federal government to line up against the Roman Catholic Church. This is going to be fought out with lawsuits, with court decisions, and, dare I say it, maybe even in the streets."

Writing in today's Wall Street Journal, William McGurn notes the potential impact of this action on Catholic Charities:

"Take Catholic Charities, America's largest private network of social service organizations. Assuming its 70,000 employees have some kind of health insurance, a principled decision not to comply with the mandate would mean $140 million a year in fines alone (plus higher costs to help employees buy insurance individually). That means millions less for struggling families, for refugees, for the sick and elderly and for other needy Americans who benefit from their good works."

This decision has been widely condemned even by liberal columnists, leading national newspapers, as well as other Christian denominations and Jewish organizations. Consider some of these statements:

  • Lutheran Church Missouri Synod: "This action by HHS will have the effect of forcing many religious organizations to choose between following the letter of the law and operating within the framework of their religious tenets."
  • Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America: "In declining to expand the religious exemption within the healthcare reform law, the Obama Administration has disappointingly failed to respect the needs of religious organizations such as hospitals, social welfare organizations and more."
  • National Association of Evangelicals: "No government has the right to compel its citizens to violate their conscience.  The HHS rules trample on our most cherished freedoms and set a dangerous precedent."

Silencing Our Chaplains

Now there is news that Pentagon officials attempted to silence Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services. On January 26th, the archbishop issued a blistering letter with instructions for it to be read aloud from the pulpit by all Catholic military chaplains.

Referring to the contraception mandate, the letter read in part, "It is a blow to a freedom that you have fought to defend and for which you have seen your buddies fall in battle. We cannot -- we will not -- comply with this unjust law."

The Army's Office of the Chief of Chaplains essentially declared the letter unauthorized and ordered chaplains not to read it aloud, but said it could be made available in print. A compromise that preserved the archbishop's First Amendment rights was eventually reached after a phone call between Archbishop Broglio and Secretary of the Army John McHugh, who conceded it was wrong to censor the letter. You can read more here.

How Should We Respond?

My friends, these are very disturbing developments. Religious liberty is under assault today from the far left on our courts and from far left ideologues in the White House. It is imperative that men and women of faith take a stand in defense of freedom.

If you are a pastor, please preach about the importance of religious liberty. You don't have to agree with Catholic teaching on contraception to realize that religious freedom for every faith is in jeopardy when the government can redefine the meaning of marriage or order religious institutions to violate their core values. If you are close to your pastor, encourage him to speak up.

I also encourage pastors to reach out to Catholic leaders in your community. Invite them to briefly address your congregations. Let them know you are standing with them. Share the letters and statements that have been issued in recent weeks by church leaders such as those quoted above.

Heritage Foundation - Member Briefing

The Truth Behind the January Jobs Report

by Tierra Warren

The economy added 243,000 jobs in January, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's 108,000 more than the forecast of 135,000.

As a result, the unemployment rate fell from 8.5 percent to 8.3 percent, the lowest level since February 2009.

For the last three months, job creation has averaged 201,000 a month, a sign that a labor market recovery may be truly underway.

Unemployment fell equally for both men and women, and private employers hired 257,000 more people. The service sector alone added 176,000 jobs.

Great news, right?

Unfortunately, this growth comes despite, not because of, the "stimulus" policies Congress has enacted. The two-month payroll tax cut extension didn't create employment, for example, because employers see the tax change as temporary.

Heritage Foundation economists Rea Hederman and James Sherk point out some disturbing news buried in the jobs report:
many people have simply stopped looking for work.

The labor force participation rate shows no sign of improving. Revisions to the population estimates show that only 63.7 percent of adult Americans are active in the labor force (either employed or looking for a job). This is the lowest since 1983, a time when far fewer women worked.

This is a worrying trend. Demographic factors caused labor force participation to peak in 2000 and gradually decline-as the baby boomers aged and started to retire, their labor force participation fell. Since the recession began, however, participation rates plunged by 2.3 percentage points-a drop that demographic factors do not explain.

This phenomenon, Hederman and Sherk go on to explain, reduces the measured unemployment rate because individuals who aren't looking for work aren't counted as unemployed.

What do you think? Does the January jobs report give you hope?

Bureaucrats at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's are wasting no time in exercising their newly-expanded powers.

Their immediate objective, now that Richard Cordray has been unconstitutionally appointed as CFPB director, is to target for regulation all manner of "nonbank" financial services.

That means mortgage originators, brokers, and servicers, as well as payday lenders and private education loans not run by banks are now subject to government micromanagement.

Advocates say these new regulations will be beneficial to consumers. However, with the bureau's unparalleled power and lack of accountability, this "reform" may prove harmful for most Americans. Continue Reading »

Heritage Action for America Why We Fight

A $260 Billion Fight on Highways

Faced with yet another deadline - the expiration of the highway bill - Congress is working on a five-year, $260 billion highway bill.

The bill does not contain any earmarks, but the massive price tag is cause for concern. It's paid for, in part, by the federal gas tax - that 18.4 cents-per-gallon you pay every time you fill up your gas tank.

However, because the House transportation bill would raise spending above the levels of tax revenue being collected, there will be a significant funding gap. The Congressional Budget Office estimates $193 billion in gas taxes and other transportation-specific revenue will be collected over the next five years.

Spending tens of billions more than you take in will lead to tax increases, deficit spending, a bailout of the transportation fund or a combination of all three.

>> Find out how the House plans to fund this spending, and why it worries conservatives.

This is about the larger picture, though. The highway bill is an opportunity to contrast President Obama's big-government plans with the conservative vision.

Conservatives understand we cannot spend any more money - we cannot afford to grow government. President Obama believes government power - and spending your money - is the key to economic growth.

Conservatives believe in the need to devolve responsibilities such as transportation back to the states, which will save money and increase flexibility. Conversely, President Obama believes federal mandates, along with higher taxes, are absolutely essential.

>> Learn more: See how conservatives can win on the highway bill.

The House highway bill does have some good reforms, but these are overshadowed by massive overspending and deficits or tax hikes required to fund the spending. As written, it is a missed opportunity for lawmakers to prove to the American people they heard the message of 2010, and paint a clear contrast to President Obama's vision for America.

We must tell Congress it is time to act like conservatives; adhering to the promises of limited-government and reduced spending. By holding Congress accountable, we can set the stage for success in November and transformational conservative victories in 2013.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Needham

Who Makes the Most From Oil and Gas Leases on Public Land?

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 12:59 PM PST

(Steven Hayward)

A Power Line reader left me a curious telephone tip yesterday to check out a couple of obscure government reports, and indeed this looks like an interesting story, albeit one that is very complicated and hard to summarize briefly. But on to the question: who makes the most money from oil and gas leases on public land-the oil and gas companies, or the federal government? Most good Power Line readers will immediately default to the counter-intuitive position, and answer that the government makes the most. And it looks like this is right.

Government take variance in five coalbed gas fields

The new (winter) issue of the Claremont Review of Books is in the mail and, thanks to our friends among its ranks, we are previewing three pieces from it this week. The issue is characteristically chock full of excellent reviews and essays by prominent scholars.

Faithful Power Line readers know that the CRB is my favorite magazine. If you love to read and if you lean conservative, it is tailor-made for you. A subscription to the CRB costs less that $20 a year. Subscribe here and get immediate online access to the entire issue thrown in. Now to the winter issue.

First he was Malcolm Little, then Malcolm X, then El-Hajj Malil el-Shabazz, with a host of nicknames in between. Malcolm X, known today as simply Malcolm, reinvented himself throughout his life. When he died, "his legacy, like his name, was left unfinished-his identity still in flux." In the new issue of the CRB, Professor Diana Schaub reviews Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention (just out in paperback), by the late Manning Marable. Professor Schaub's review is "Solve for X."

Liberals and the Constitution

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:22 AM PST

(Steven Hayward)

Liberals typically erupt in outrage if you suggest they don't respect or understand the Constitution, let alone defend it. But then they let slip that in fact they really don't respect or understand the Constitution, and would replace it in a heartbeat if they thought they could get away with it. Think of Ezra Klein remarking a couple years back on how the Constitution is too hard to understand because, like, it's over a hundred years old man!* And this week Barack Obama proved himself once again the perfect epigone of Woodrow Wilson-the first president to criticize the Constitution and the principles of the American Founding-with his remarks to NBC's Matt Lauer that one reason he hasn't succeeded in fulfilling his campaign promises to transform the world is that "it turns out our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like sometimes." It turns out? He's just discovering this now? (Well, one thing that "turns out" is that the only constitutional law Obama actually taught at the University of Chicago was the equal protection clause. Apparently he skipped over that whole "separation of powers" stuff.)

Morning Bell: Obamacare Awakens a Sleeping Giant

Such is the case with the firestorm of opposition to Obamacare and the Obama Administration's attack on religious liberty. Under a new Obamacare mandate issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the White House is mandating that virtually all religious employers, with the exception of churches, provide health care coverage for contraception - including abortion-inducing drugs - thereby trampling upon their constitutionally guaranteed free exercise of religion. And it is this mandate that has caused a vehement response in churches and synagogues across the country.

Yesterday, the head of the Catholic League, Bill Donohue, warned that the nation's 70 million Catholics are ready to go to war with the Administration's dictates, saying "Never before, unprecedented in American history, for the federal government to line up against the Roman Catholic Church. This is going to be fought out with lawsuits, with court decisions, and, dare I say it, maybe even in the streets."

Many Faiths Unite in Opposition to Obama Attack on Religious Liberty

The Obama Administration's mandate under the Obamacare statute that many religious employers provide health care coverage for contraception, abortifacients, and human sterilization tramples upon their constitutionally guaranteed free exercise of religion.  Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently announced the Administration policy.  Many faiths have united in opposition to the Obama Administration attack on religious liberty.

On January 20, 2012, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said that "To force American citizens to choose between violating their consciences and forgoing their healthcare is literally unconscionable."  Also on that day, the National Association of Evangelicals commented that "The HHS rules trample on our most cherished freedoms and set a dangerous precedent."

On January 26, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America stated, "In declining to expand the religious exemption within the healthcare reform law, the Obama Administration has disappointingly failed to respect the needs of religious organizations such as hospitals, social welfare organizations and more."  On the same day, Agudath Israel of America stated:

Romneycare Required Anti-Catholic Regulations Like Obamacare's

Tuesday, 07 Feb 2012

By Jim Meyers

Mitt Romney is vociferously attacking a provision in Obamacare requiring religious employers to cover birth control in employee health plans - but the healthcare bill he enacted as governor of Massachusetts also contained that requirement.

C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, told the Boston Globe that Romney's criticism of President Obama is hypocritical because as governor he did not lift the state-level requirement of contraception coverage.

"The initial injury to Catholic religious freedom came not from the Obama administration, but from the Romney administration," Doyle said.

"President Obama's plan certainly constitutes an assault on the constitutional rights of Catholics, but I'm not sure Gov. Romney is in a position to assert that, given his own very mixed record on this."

National Right To Work Legal Defense

Desperate to destroy Indiana's popular new Right to Work law, union lawyers are now scheming to have the courts strike it down.

First, when the Right to Work law was introduced in the Indiana legislature, union bosses packed the capitol with angry protestors hurling insults at those who support worker freedom.

Big Labor-backed legislators tried to stall the debate by refusing to show up, just as Wisconsin Democrats fled to Illinois last year.

But the forces of freedom prevailed, and now that forced-unionism partisans failed to win the hearts and minds of Indiana's workers and voters, they want to dismantle the law in the courts.

Sometimes all it takes is picking the right judge. In fact, just yesterday, an Indiana judge blocked the fines charged to House Democrats for walking out of the legislature and delaying debate on the Right to Work bill.

Your National Right to Work Foundation knows how to fight back and defend Indiana's duly-enacted Right to Work law.

That's why the Foundation announced last week the launch of new legal task force dedicated to defeating the bogus arguments cooked up by Big Labor lawyers in Indiana.

Foundation attorneys have successfully defended state Right to Work laws in the past, most recently in Oklahoma, and are continuing to defend Wisconsin's government-sector Right to Work law from an assault by union lawyers.

The task force has already examined reported union lines of attack and determined that Indiana's Right to Work law is on sound legal ground, but we must be fully prepared if and when Big Labor lawyers unleash their attack
.

You see, the Foundation must guard against union boss legal challenges that could jeopardize Right to Work laws nationwide.

Union bosses know that for decades the courts have upheld Right to Work laws while acknowledging the fundamental conflict between compulsory unionism and freedom of association.

But they're hoping the lawsuits -- real and threatened -- could stall the growing Right to Work movement in other states like New Hampshire and Montana.

Big Labor wants to frighten legislators nationwide by showing them how hard and costly a battle like the ones raging in Wisconsin and Indiana can be.

Defending the 23 state Right to Work laws is a crucial component of the National Right to Work Foundation's strategic litigation program made possible by the generosity of Right to Work supporters like you.

Union lawyers hope to bleed us dry by filing groundless lawsuits against Right to Work laws to keep the Foundation from going on offense and bringing cases against forced-unionism schemes for victimized employees.

That's why your continued support is so vital.

RUSE: Planned Parenthood, Girl Scout cookie monster

Girls' group may regret sex-ed partnership as snack sales suffer

By Cathy Cleaver Ruse

The Washington Times

Monday, February 6, 2012

Illustration by Linas Garsys for The Washington Times

Across the country, angry emails bombard official Girl Scout computers. In Northern Virginia, a Catholic church bans the Scouts from meeting on its property. An Idaho television station reports that a "rumor" about a Girl Scout-Planned Parenthood alliance is disrupting this year's cookie sales.

Emails and random churches are one thing, the bottomline is quite another.

The cookie sale is the Girl Scouts' largest fundraiser, bringing in close to a billion dollars annually. This year, some girls will come equipped with credit-card scanners to expedite the sale. But even high-tech toddlers won't make up for the loss if overall sales are down.

Girl Scout headquarters knows that Planned Parenthood scares parents - why else would it publish an official disclaimer? Its website claims that "Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a relationship or partnership with Planned Parenthood," and yet there is evidence everywhere that this is patently, even laughably, untrue.

Dear Supporter,

Can you imagine telling a parent: "Your kid doesn't matter. My salary does!"

I can't either. Yet that's exactly what's being told to moms and dads across our Commonwealth. And guess who's delivering that message?

That's right...greedy Union Bosses.

You're not surprised, are you?

In school districts, towns and counties across Pennsylvania, the Union Bosses are holding our children's education hostage, terrorizing teachers who try to help, choking off money to charter schools and forcing workers to join their organization and pay them dues.

It's all being done in an effort to keep these Union Bosses in power and their own pockets lined with taxpayer dollars.

Sound familiar? Is this happening in your school district, town or county? Click here (http://americansforprosperity.org/020212-union-bosses-gone-wild) to tell us about what's going on.

That's why we're launching UNION BOSSES GONE WILD (http://americansforprosperity.org/020212-union-bosses-gone-wild)!

It's a new initiative here at AFP-PA to highlight the greed, thuggery and coercion of the Union Bosses. No more can they hide in dark corners. Together, you and I and thousands of other AFP-PA activists can shine a bright light on what's really going on with the Union Bosses of Pennsylvania.

Click here (http://americansforprosperity.org/020212-union-bosses-gone-wild) to tell us what's been happening in your area.

And, don't forget to tell us about the great local leaders taking a stand and what YOU ARE DOING to combat the heavy hand of the Union Bosses.

Just look at what these Union Bosses have been up to recently:

Read about (http://www.americansforprosperity.com/020212-sign-petition-end-union-boss-thuggery-neshaminy-school-district-jennifer-stefano) the teacher in the Neshaminy School District whose car was vandalized after he spoke out against his Union Boss' intimidation tactics.

Read the story (http://articles.philly.com/2012-01-31/news/31008664_1_district-and-charter-state-subsidies-charter-officials)

of the Chester Community Charter School on the brink of closing because the public school took the money to pay the union contracts instead.

And take a look here (http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/falls/school-board-officers-support-staff-negotiations-have-been-hijacked/article_fb7d0309-fcdc-5685-8491-1b495396e8ba.html) at how the Union Bosses are highjacking negotiations in the Pennsbury School District.

Sound familiar? Is this happening in your school district or in the district of someone you know? Click here (http://americansforprosperity.org/020212-union-bosses-gone-wild) to tell us about what's going on.

And, while we're just getting started here in Pennsylvania, take a look here ((http://www.thestatecolumn.com/articles/mitch-daniels-makes-indiana-a-right-to-work-state/) to see how Governor Mitch Daniels and the courageous Indiana legislature took a stand against the Union Bosses in this week.

Workers' Freedom WILL HAPPEN in Pennsylvania; but first, we need to start shining a light on the dirty tricks and thuggery of the Union Bosses in our state!

Help AFP launch "UNION BOSSES GONE WILD!" today! (http://americansforprosperity.org/020212-union-bosses-gone-wild)

GLAAD wants CNN's Roland Martin fired

Liberal TV host Roland Martin is getting heat over some tweets he sent out during the Super Bowl mocking anyone who liked pictures of David Beckham and even suggesting slapping someone who does. GLAAD took this as a slam on homosexuals and launched a campaign to get Martin fired. It'll probably happen because let's be honest - there are 3 people campaigning to save Martin's job and all of them have the last name Martin. This is a guy who routinely attacks conservatives based on 'sound bites' alone, so it's kind of funny to see a lib get a dose of their own medicine. Glenn comments on radio today.
