Countdown to Zero in Tehran and Jerusalem
There was a time when Israel did not deal with existential threats by urging the Americans to do something. That time was fairly recent. When Saddam decided he wanted to have his own nuclear reactor, fourteen Israeli Air Force jets put an end to his dream. The year was 1981. The Reagan Administration supported a UN resolution condemning Israel which stated that it was in "clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international conduct" and which fully recognized "the inalienable sovereign right of Iraq, and all other States, especially the developing countries, to establish programmes of technological and nuclear development." Prime Minister Begin, easily the most conservative PM to hold the office, replied bluntly. "No "sword of Damocles" is going to hang over our head." Four years ago Israel launched a quieter attack was launched on a nuclear reactor in Syria, this time with the likely approval and assistance of the United States. Now after all the whitewashing of Iran's nuclear program, it is coming down to the bottom line. Either a comprehensive attack will be launched or Iran's nuclear program will pass the point of no return. While there are some doubts about whether Israel has the capability to take out the program, in the past they have found innovative ways to do the impossible. It is quite likely that there is a plan on someone's desk for getting the job done. The plan is probably bold, seemingly unworkable and reads as insane to experienced hands, but that would also describe the opening strike of the Six Day War or the Entebbe raid. The question is why hasn't it been carried out yet and the likely answer is Obama. Not just Obama, but the oddball mix of Clintonites and left-wing Chicago radicals who would be in a prime position to oppose or support any such move. Just as with the takedown of Bin Laden, it is likely that there are figures in the administration who support such a move and those who oppose it. Israel has no doubt been hoping for a repeat of 2007 and an operation that takes place with the support and cover of the United States. A quiet operation that will mostly go unmentioned. Israel has been hanging on in the hopes that if it walks through the steps laid out by Washington D.C. then it will finally get the go ahead and any of the equipment and local support it needs to get the job done as comprehensively and safely as possible. The Israeli cabinet and defense establishment has been having its own quiet debate on the subject, just as it before taking out Osirak. As then the lefties are opposed, but their best ammo comes from D.C. which has doubtlessly been stringing Israel along and promising that if Israel is patient then the problem will be taken care of. To the right the argument has no doubt been that the United States will not do anything and that Israel needs to do it alone.

Sometimes when you stand up to the establishment,
it doesn't always go well.
 | Bunker Hill - A rabble of patriots up against the most powerful force on the planet. Yea, they lost, but they let the British know that they were a force to be reckoned with. | But that does not mean it is not worth the fight. There are two ways of interpreting the decision by the Republican State Committee to endorse candidates on Saturday, January 28 at their winter meeting: - The State committee is completely out of touch with the Republican base and especially the grassroots activists (Tea Party) that we should have no respect for them at all.
- The fact that there was even a discussion about the appropriateness of endorsing candidates for the primary and that the vote was 200 in favor and 142 against is a sign that the grassroots are beginning the process of changing the political process in Pennsylvania.
We are inclined to believe the second interpretation. As much as we would have liked to have had the PA GOP agree to not endorse and the fact that there was an effort to prevent grassroots leaders from even being in the PA GOP meeting. There were a dozen or so stories in local media about the controversy over the endorsement process. Here are links to just a few: There were many grassroots groups that protested the matter (A letter that was given to the Chairman of the PA GOP from these groups is available here). There was also a press conference and a demonstration at the winter meeting. Does anyone remember anything like this when Pat Toomey ran against Arlen Specter? We are making a difference. But in order to make a real difference, we need people to get involved in their local committees. To get on the ballot requires 10 signatures from your precinct. We can help with that process. What we need are principled people who are willing to work not only from the outside, but also from the inside where these decisions are made. Local committee seats are filled during the primary every two years. State committee seats are filled every four years. Become a local committee person now ow sign up to work to get a candidate elected now. We can build a base and run candidates in 2014 for State committee. This is a long process. We need not only principled individuals, but those with the perseverance to hold on for the long haul. Here is how Jaime Faucette from Citizens for Constitutional Government put it to a committee person who was thinking of resigning over the issue: We are not defeated. This was not the war. This was only one battle. And we will persevere to fight another day, and another, and another, committee seat by committee seat, State Committee seat by State Committee seat, in each of our boroughs, townships, and counties, whittling away little by little at this mammoth power structure until in time it crumbles - IF we don't quit now. The atmosphere is changing. YOU ARE CHANGING IT. But more change is needed. Here is the way another tea party activist put it: The people of the movement need to be reminded of what they worked so hard for and this is the time to stand up and "fight the system". This fight is a good thing. It demonstrates true debate and resolution (like how the framers fought over the writing of the constitution) when was the last time we saw Democrats fight over what was best for the people? There are glimmers of hope. There is a cut in the fabric of "politics as usual". It will take time to pull back the veil. Grab a knife and grab hold. WE (that includes YOU) can do this. |
Here is the beginning of the letter from the conservative grassroots leaders presented to Chairman Gleason:
Rob Gleason
Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania
112 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101
Friday, January 27, 2012
Chairman Gleason,
As grassroots conservative leaders, we are all united in our desire to defeat President Obama and Senator Casey. We were excited by the resounding Republican victories in 2010 and 2011 and the conservative message these candidates espoused.
We are concerned that the Republican State Committee is seeking to make an endorsement in the hotly contested U.S. Senate primary. We believe this would be a mistake as there are many strong candidates in this race.

Dear Patriot,
Carried by Richard Nixon in all five presidential elections and by Ronald Regan all four times he ran, California, where European-Americans are now a shrinking minority, is a state where the Republican Party faces extinction. John McCain's 2008 general election vote was a mere 36% in California, handing Barack Obama 55 votes of the Electoral College and eclipsing the GOP's capture of the entire mid-West with just one state.
Demographics are destiny. Many have read Patrick Buchanan's latest best-seller, "Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025." It is a telling forecast of the decline of the West and what the future may hold.
Here at the Thomas Jefferson Club, we strive to present speakers and issues that you will find nowhere else. We are a non-partisan, issues-oriented organization and believe in presenting on a variety of challenging topics, including the issues of national identity, immigration and America's historic lineage of Western Culture.
On Sunday, February 12th at 7pm we will present Filip Dewinter, member of the Belgian and European Parliament. Mr. Dewinter is the leader of Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest), the main opposition party in Belgium. He will discuss from the front lines the challenges for Western Civilization in Europe and its parallels to the United States. This event will be held at The Temperance House, 5 South State Street, Newtown, PA.
For a brief overview of Mr. Dewinter and the freedom movement in Europe, please view this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjoLqlJDgGI.
Another great event of note is this evening (Monday, January 30th) called "Inaugural KTP Tea" with the Kitchen Table Patriots. The objective of KTP's first "Tea" is to mingle in a less formal setting and bring you up to date on some activities in Harrisburg and Washington. Also to solicit ideas about what KTP should be doing to champion conservatism right here at home. The event is free of charge and will be held from 5-7pm at Bobby Simone's Restaurant Loft, 52 East State Street, Doylestown, PA.
All the best,
Jeff McGeary

Weekly News From Philadelphia ZOA
Shabbat Shalom!

Philadelphia ZOA Quarterly Meeting
Wednesday, Feb. 29, 7:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Hillel/Beth El, 1001 Remington Rd., Wynnewood.
Our guest speaker will be State Representative Curt Schroder, who recently returned from a trip to Israel along with other lawmakers from the commonwealth on a trip sponsored and organized by the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition. Schroder, a Republican, represents the 155th District, in Chester County. He is serving his ninth term.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Please
encourage those you know to also attend.

We want to let you know Philadelphia ZOA's activities concerning the University of Pennsylvania boycott, divestment and sanctions conference (Penn BDS) taking place next weekend -- as well as a couple good responses.
The Greater Philadelphia District of the Zionist Organization of America has not only been actively engaged in confronting this evil conference but we have been intimately involved in the organized Jewish Community's response and have taken the lead role, through our own ongoing "Buy Israel" campaign, in countering the effort to hurt Israel economically. The organized Jewish community has taken this conference seriously and most of the elements of our community have coalesced to form a unified stance. ZOA has attended and contributed to meetings and conference calls where responses, planning and strategies have been formulated and while there have been points of disagreement, we feel it is important in this instance to speak with one voice. We had input in the official community statement condemning the conference, have been kept apprised of details including the major event with Alan Dershowitz next week and have made suggestions concerning security and other initiatives.
Additionally we have met and spoken with students and partnered with a particularly active student to visit businesses both on campus and around the perimeter -- with samples in hand -- to encourage them to carry items from Israel in their stores and restaurants. ZOA is making sure and providing -- thanks to the good people of Osem USA -- that there will be items from Israel served at special Shabbat dinners at Penn to coincide with the Penn BDS event. We had a letter encouraging people to "Buy Israel" published last week in the Jewish Exponent.
This conference will be in our area for just a weekend, but the foes of Israel are working all the time to harm Israel and the Jewish people. Therefore we who support Israel must be active beyond the period of this conference. I am attaching a copy of our "Buy Israel" flyer with this email. Please use it, circulate it and print it out and take it with you when you do your shopping.

Thomas Jefferson: "Whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers....a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it's been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.

The Case Against Obamacare: Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress
Building on decades of Heritage research, The Case Against Obamacare: A Health Care Policy Series for the 112th Congress examines 15 key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Each report:
- Cites specific sections of the 2,700-page health care law
- Provides detailed analysis of specific Obamacare provisions
- Identifies key principles for a better way to reform health care
The unmistakable conclusion of this series is that Obamacare must be fully repealed. Congress cannot build sound market-based health care reform on the flawed foundation of this health care law. Until it can be repealed, Congress must employ its full powers authorized by the Constitution to:

Lou Flanagan, House Bill 934: Voter ID
"My state Rep. Warren Kampf responded to my question about where the Voter ID bill stands in Harrisburg. His response appears at end of this emaiI. It seems clear that unless we apply pressure to the state senate government committee, this bill will go nowhere. My questions for them are: Where do you stand on the bill? What are you doing to move it out of committee? If you oppose it, tell me why. Who on the committee is against it, and why? Louis: Thank you for the email regarding Voter ID (House Bill 934). The House passed Voted ID on June 23rd. I voted for this bill if you will remember. It is now the responsibility of the Senate to take action to continue to move HB 934 forward. I would advise you to contact the Senators who comprise the Senate State Government Committee, those in Senate leadership positions and your local Senator to let them know of your desire to move this forward. Also you may ask for an accounting of why this has been held up and not considered. Please let me know if I can help with other state-related matters. Voter Cheating
You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how. (Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,1992, only available in Russian. Russia's Vladimir Putin is accused of voter fraud and failure to solve problems with health care availability, immigration control, and unsustainable pensions. Sound familiar? Absolutely. Will he lie? Absolutely. But unlike Obama's ACORN, he will probably admit it.
Background
There are several lines of independent evidence for cheating in the 2012 election:
a) 12/30/11, Voter ID: PA House Bill 934
Eric Holder has ordered his staff not to meddle with cases of voter fraud that involve minorities (J. Christian Adams has written widely about such cases), Salina Zito (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) predicted that PA in November '12 will go according to the Philadelphia suburbs, ACORN has both a record for voter scams and operates new sites in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, our State Attorney General is stepping aside, and there is little public information about Mayor Nutter's views on this matter. Meanwhile, there is an early February deadline from our Governor as Republicans in the PA legislature attempt to define a list of acceptable IDs and Democrats cry that minorities and old people can't handle this demand. I smell more fraud from a bunch- ACORN - already known nationally for fraud and Corbett's February deadline invites some deliberate lapse by the D's...And intrusion by Eric Holder would stall our ID program until after ACORN has done their job for BO ...
b) Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times: BO & Voter ID
"...South Carolina's legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well. "It isn't. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression..."
c) Daryl Metcalf, Morning Call: Electoral Integrity (June 18, 2011)
Metcalf is a Republican from Butler County (north of Pittsburgh) "Pennsylvania has a long and ongoing history of documented voter fraud - pre-dating even the frequently forged signature of Mickey Mouse to at least the election of 1918. "Of course, no statewide analysis of voter fraud would be complete without briefly documenting the deeply rooted influence of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
d) Christopher Freind, PA Water Cooler: No ID, No Vote,... Comprende? (June 21, 2011)
"I am not wealthy, but have recently acquired twenty two domiciles throughout Philadelphia. My real estate prowess has afforded me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens. "I can vote twenty-two times. "You see, I have staked out prime locations, from a cardboard box under the Walt Whitman Bridge to a culvert on Cobbs Creek Parkway to a burnt out shell at 7th and Diamond. Yes, technically, habitating at these locations makes me 'homeless,' but I much prefer the term 'voter-enfranchised.' When you have such a love of democracy, how can anyone have a problem with people who want to vote multiple times, especially the homeless? (Although, in fairness, dead people should only be able to vote once). http://pawatercooler.com/v3/?tag=philadelphia-voter-fraud
e) 11/7/2011, PA ACORN Lives
"Pennsylvania. ACORN PA has become Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change (PCOC) and Pennsylvania Neighborhoods for Social Justice (PNSJ).Both were incorporated on January 8, 2010. On July 26, 2010, PCOC filed for another name - Action United - and the organizations now operate under this name. Current board members and staff of these organizations with former ACORN affiliations include: * Lucille Prater Holliday, chair (ACORN member and Democratic state house candidate) * Pat Worrell, co-chair (Chester County, PA ACORN chairman) * Rosa Chacon, secretary/treasurer (ACORN leader in Harrisburg, PA, profiled in ACORN's 2005 annual report) * Fabrico Rodriguez, board member (executive director of Philadelphia Jobs with Justice) * Craig Robbins, executive director (ACORN regional director in Philadelphia, PA) * Maryellen Deckard, southwest regional director (head organizer for ACORN PA) * Jennifer England, communications director (Pittsburg ACORN spokesperson) Action United is located at 846 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 and 5907 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg(h), PA 15206. The Action United website is www.actionunited.org. http://www.judicialwatch.org/files/documents/2011/acornspecialreport08222011.pdf There is even a Secretary of State project in which leftist groups attempt to bias state elections so that "liberal" Secretaries of State are elected. http://truethevote.org/news/does-your-vote-really-count; http://truethevote.org/news/what-is-the-secretary-of-state-project. There must be some benefit to Republicans if they ignore voter fraud. For example, my acquaintance publishes lists of Republicans who take contributions from unions and refusing to vote against union interests. And conservative Lowman Henry has spoken about the legislative impasse, particularly in the State Senate, produced by about twenty-five who get their money from organized labor. Thus, Nicole Marrone's conclusion is still valid as is Christopher Freind's: "The city of Philadelphia is known for many things: The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, water ice, and Santa Claus-booing Eagles fans. But if research that I conducted in 2006 is still accurate today, Philadelphia should also be known for all-inclusive voting - that is, voting regardless of whether one has a pulse or is otherwise eligible to cast a vote..." http://pjmedia.com/blog/small-sample-of-philly-voter-rolls-reveals-hundreds-of-ineligible-names-pjm-exclusive/ There is a bright light on our horizon even though Salena Zito asserted that Pennsylvania electoral votes will depend on turn out in the Philadelphia suburbs: "Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter didn't mince words after four kids were shot and three killed in Philadelphia Tuesday night. "The first way to stop this kind of stuff is for young people to be home when they're supposed to be home, and for adults not to act like idiots and assholes out in the streets of our city shooting at kids in a car," Nutter told FOX 29... A spokesperson for the mayor told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter stood by his statement. "He said what he said. He was clear about it, and he meant it. He said what everybody else was thinking," said spokesman Mark McDonald..." http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/12/philly-mayor-dont-act-like-idiots-and-assholes/ What are Mayor Mike's reactions to fraud? Does he value "value" above "deals"? Meanwhile, many Pennsylvanians look to Harrisburg to pass a "Voter ID" law that requires each of us to carry a card with our photo and address on it. Our Governor also says that he needs the law in place by the first week of February if it is to be used this coming November. On the other hand, I recall my son's friends in college fattening their wallets by selling bogus photo ID to students who wanted to buy liquor. I'm sure ACORN knows how to do such things. The ID cards will make cheating a bit more difficult and more expensive for organizers and possibly, but not necessarily, less frequent. And the rest of us will pay the bills for cheaters...

Rush: Obama's Jobless Numbers Are 'Corrupt'
Friday, 03 Feb 2011
By Amy Woods
The jobless rate reported today is "corrupt as it can be" because President Barack Obama's administration has decreased the size of the workforce, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show. According to the Department of Labor, employers added almost a quarter of a million jobs in January. According to Limbaugh, it eliminated 2 ½ million positions. "The number of jobs not available to be filled exploded by an unprecedented, record number of 1.2 million," he said. "That's not a typo. That's part of this 2 ½ million fewer jobs. It is corrupt as it can be." He said the shrinking of "the overall universe of jobs" led to the misconstrued dip in the unemployment rate, to 8.3, from 8.5 in December. "No president has ever been re-elected when the unemployment rate's over 8 percent, so guess what it's going to be by the time we get to Election Day," he said. © Newsmax. All rights reserved.

Morning Bell: Job Growth Should Be Stronger
Mike Brownfield
February 3, 2012
The Obama Administration and the nation have cause to breathe a sign of relief as today's monthly jobs report shows 243,000 jobs were created in January. Those numbers are of course good news, another positive sign of recovery, and another clear indication of the enduring strength of the American economy and American economic system. But, really, so long after recession's end, we should be doing much better - and would be but for President Barack Obama's debilitating anti-growth policies. In reality, the economy is recovering despite - not because of - Obama's policies. Make no mistake: 243,000 jobs is good, but we should be seeing numbers upwards of 350,000. America can and should do better.
For millions of Americans, last month's strong job growth is a bright spot that they unfortunately cannot see. While the unemployment rate has fallen to 8.3 percent, it fell from lofty heights that lasted far too long. And even at 8.3 percent, 12.8 million Americans remain unemployed, and the high unemployment among women, teenagers, whites, and Hispanics remained steady. What's more, the number of long-term unemployed - which stands at 5.5 million - remained relatively unchanged, meaning that 42.9 percent of unemployed Americans have been out of work for 27 weeks or more. On top of that, there were 1.1 million "discouraged workers" in January - meaning that they're sitting on the sidelines not looking for work because they believe no jobs are available.

Newt Gingrich wants the U.S. to return to the moon, but as challenges go he has nothing on Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's school reform plans.
Mr. Jindal wants to create America's largest school voucher program, broadest parental choice system, and toughest teacher accountability regime-all in one legislative session. Any one of those would be a big win, but all three could make the state the first to effectively dismantle a public education monopoly.
Louisiana is already one of 12 states (including Washington, D.C.) that offer school vouchers, but its program benefits fewer than 2,000 students in New Orleans. Governor Jindal would extend eligibility to any low-income student whose school gets a C, D or F grade from state administrators. That's almost 400,000 students-a bit more than half the statewide population-who could escape failing schools for private or virtual schools, career-based programs or institutions of higher education.
Funding for these vouchers ("scholarships" is the poll-tested term) would come not from a new fund, as in New Orleans, but from what the state already spends on public education per capita. So every student leaving a failing school would take about $8,500 (on average) with him, hitting the bureaucracy where it hurts. This is called competition, that crucial quality missing where monopolies reign.
Post-Katrina New Orleans is already the nation's leading charter-school zone, with 80% of city students enrolled, academic performance improving dramatically, and plans to go all-charter by 2013. To spread the model statewide, the Governor would create new regional boards for authorizing charters and offer fast-track authorization to high-performing operators such as KIPP. He'd also give charters the same access to public facilities as traditional public schools.
As for tenure, Mr. Jindal would grant it only to teachers who are rated "highly effective" five years in a row, meaning the top 10% of performers. And tenure wouldn't equal lifetime protection: A tenured teacher who rates in the bottom 10% ("ineffective") in any year would return to probationary status. Ineffective teachers would receive no pay raise. Louisiana would also ban the "last in, first out" practice under which younger teachers are dismissed first, regardless of performance.
No points for guessing where the teachers unions stand on all this. The real problem is that "the revenue base is inadequate," says Steve Monaghan of the Louisiana Federation of Teachers-though spending doesn't correlate with academic improvement, and in any case Mr. Jindal has increased education spending by 10% since 2008.
At least Mr. Monaghan is guilty only of ignoring evidence. Louisiana Association of Educators leader Michael Walker Jones took to insulting Bayou State parents: "If I'm a parent in poverty I have no clue because I'm trying to struggle and live day to day," said Mr. Jones of parental choice. How's that for faith in self-government?
Louisiana used to be one of America's most ill-governed states, but Mr. Jindal pushed major economic and ethics reforms in his first term and is now starting his second with his education moon shot. It would be one giant leap for Louisiana students.

Unions Plan Siege On Conservative Political Action Conference [CPAC]
Posted by LaborUnionReport
Saturday, February 4th
Next weekend, political conservatives from all over the nation will be descending on Washington, DC to attend the annual Conservative Political Action Conference-better known as CPAC. Across town, however, union bosses and their adopted #OccupyDC progeny are planning to disrupt and lay siege to the conservative conference.
According to the AFL-CIO's Washington DC Metro Council website, "Actions are currently being planned for noontime andafter work on Friday, February 10."
Apparently, the unions plans to attempt to disrupt the conference with rats, puppets, and more:
WE'VE HEARD ENOUGH FROM THE 1%! Join the rally featuring tents, an inflatable fat cat, puppets, "candidate Walmart," and more to LET THE VOICES OF THE 99% BE HEARD!
There is also a Facebook page for Occupy CPAC, posted by Change to Win staffer, Trina Tocco. It is important to note that Change to Win is the SEIU-led federation that broke away from the AFL-CIO in 2005-which means both union federations are involved in planning the attacks on CPAC

RedState Morning Briefing
For February 6, 2012
1. The Perversion of the Words of Our Lord Jesus Christ by the Sinner Barack H. Obama
Hopefully someone at the White House will read this and realize just how ill advised the President was to do what he did this week and we should be praying hard for him to see the error of his ways on this.
In the Bible we read these things:
"And God blessed them. And God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'" Gen 1:28 (ESV)
"Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?" Job 31:15 (ESV)
"Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments." Psalm 119:73 (ESV)
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13 (ESV)
These are clear references to God intending people to procreate and recognize that, even in the womb, God played a vital role in the formation of children and we should not casually destroy life God himself created. These passages of scripture are what inspire so many pro-life advocates to defend the unborn.
Had the President of the United States stood at the National Prayer Breakfast and uttered any of those passages and then announced his intent to protect the unborn, abortion rights advocates would have stormed the White House and the Courts all in the name of separation of church and state. The media would have had on Barry Lynn to proclaim his outrage that the President was mixing religion and politics.
Jim Wallis would have gone on the news to dance around life issues and try his best to neuter God out of them and the media would have treated him as an objective source.
But that's not what happened.
Instead, the President went to the National Prayer Breakfast and quoted Jesus Christ himself to defend a tax increase. The President paraphrased Luke 12:48, "Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more." (ESV) He said it was because he was a Christian that he thought the rich should pay more in taxes.
It's a good thing President Obama did not draw from Matthew 13:12 instead or the poor would really be screwed.
"For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away." (ESV)
It is worth pointing out that the very same people who would have been outraged had the President quoted clear scripture on life to defend the unborn were willing to be silent or even applaud the President perverting the words of Christ to pursue his tax plan.
It is also worth pointing out that President Obama sat at the feet of Jeremiah Wright for 20 years, so this might be the best he can do.
But we must also point out that Christians have an obligation to pray for their leaders and, given how the President of the United State just twisted the words of our Lord and Savior, we should pray all the more fervently for him because in reading Luke 12:48, he clearly ignored or has no understand of Luke 12:47.

2. Excommunicate the Bishops. I, like most other Catholics, got to hear a heartfelt letter from my Bishop - a living examplar of St. John Chrysostom's famous (possibly apocryphal) maxim - explaining that clear out of nowhere, somehow, the Obama Administration decided to make Catholic institutions pay for abortifacents, birth control, and sterilization procedures, all of which are actually explicitly mortal sins in my faith, which is to say, one can be in danger of Hell merely for helping to provide them. As Sts. Nicholas and Chrysostom would not, in their unenlightened days, have likely had warm feelings for His Excellency, it is perhaps incumbent upon me to note that my Bishop neglected a few details in the sermon he had our deacon read aloud. His Excellency was absolutely silent on the possible election of a man who actively defended the post-uterine execution of neonatal infants, which I ascribe to moral laziness and cowardice, though it may have been instead interest in funding a short lived billboard campaign in Atlanta extolling Catholics who believe him and the Pope evil to come on back for a quick round of communion. The Secretary of Health and Human Services is a self-professing Catholic who is one of the most ardent defenders of the abortion license in our country. Obamacare was passed through the good offices of numerous nominally-Catholic Senators and Representatives, despite warnings from Catholic groups (such as the Knights of Columbus, who fought tooth and nail) and without so much as a peep of the same from our esteemed Bishops, that maybe, just maybe, the Obama Administration might be vaguely interested in making free abortion on demand and contraceptives available to all, conscience exceptions be damned. Please click here for the rest of the post. 3. Growing Opportunities on Earth Rather Than Colonies on the Moon Our nation is in economic turmoil, and American families are focused on what matters the most: putting food on the table and keeping the lights on.With economic growth stagnating and over 13 million Americans still jobless, it is clear that our priorities now, more than ever, cannot be frivolous. Our government spending cannot grow further out of control, and our politicians cannot lose sight of what is most important to the hardworking American people. Knowing this, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich chose to blatantly pander to a Florida crowd on the space coast (known for its support for NASA) when he told them that as President, he would use taxpayer dollars to expand the role of the federal government in manned space exploration, with the goal of building a colony on the moon by the end of his second term. After this announcement, many Americans were left scratching their heads especially since Newt is more prone to quoting George Washington rather than George Jetson. And when you factor in that our free enterprise system is at stake, how can we afford for anyone to lose sight of what matters most to the American people and heedlessly pursue more wasteful government programs? Building a federally-funded moon colony would inevitably cost-at the very least-billions of dollars. In addition to our current overspending, this would ultimately saddle our children with the price tag for another one of Speaker Gingrich's grandiose ideas. Please click here for the rest of the post. 4. Did a Former Nancy Pelosi Aide Screw Up the Komen Decision? Ogilvy Public Relations Should Explain. Judd Legum at Think Progress did what appears to be a pre-emptive strike against former Bush White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer claiming that Fleisher was "secretly involved" in the Susan G. Komen Foundations' strategy on planned parenthood. In fact, according to people I've spoken to who are aware of the decision making processes at Komen, Fleischer had nothing to do with Komen's strategy or decision on this matter. I use the word "pre-emptive" because it seems Think Progress and the left wanted to get this out there quickly, damn the facts, to distract from Brendan Daly. Brandon Daly is Nancy Pelosi's former press secretary. He now works at Ogilvy Public Relations. According to people close to the Komen Foundation I've spoken to, it was not Fleischer who was involved in the strategy and PR related to the Planned Parenthood decision, but rather Nancy Pelosi's former press secretary and Ogilvy Public Relations executive Brendan Daly. Please click here for the rest of the post.

NO. 2 Never let a cold day go by without reiterating: "Brrr. Still cold. Makes you think what we could really do with right now is a bit more global warming."

PA implementing ObamaCare exchanges
I wanted to update you on the exchange situation. First, unfortunately we are getting started late in the game. Having spoken with 4 different legislators (Rep Saylor, Boyd, Bear, and Sen Waugh), I believe the general sense on their part is that they want to be prepared to set up an exchange if SCOTUS doesn't declare ObamaCare unconstitutional.
Their reasoning for supporting the exchange is that PA will have more control if PA sets up the exchange rather than the feds. We have been arguing that in fact: the exchange structure and operation is dictated by the feds, through law and regulation, regardless if the state sets it up or not; that whatever little "control" a PA would have does not mitigate any of the true horrors of the law; establishing the exchange legitimizes PPACA and undercut PA's federal lawsuit against PPACA, creates more PA expense and government, scedes state sovereignty, misses an opportunity to block the law and to have standing for further legal action. (please see attached documents if you want more explanation).
We have more legislator visits planned, but it is clear to me that none of the legislators thus far will take on this fight. We must generate the grass roots response to move them to do so. It is disgusting that our Republican Governor and legislature can't pass meaningful right to work legislation, LCB reform, PA TPK Commission reform, school reform, etc but unless we respond in a big way, will make PA government bigger, make PA government poorer, harm PA citizen liberty and health by implementing an exchange.
I have contacted Campaign for Liberty to see if they are interested in coordinating efforts to stop the exchange. I will also contact the PA Manufacturer's Association and the Chamber of Commerce, both of whom support repeal of PPACA, also for potential coordination of activities.
We are working on an on-line petition rejecting PPACA and the exchanges for PA physicians to sign and ultimately deliver by several physicians to Harrisburg.
On Wednesday, I participated in a debate put on by the Lehigh Valley Coalition for Health Care Reform (Donna Rovito). Leo Knepper and I presented the anti-exchange positition while a rep from the PA Dept of Insurance and Dr Schmeltz of the PA Medical Society presented the for pro position. For what it is worth, I believe we had the more compelling argument.
I welcome any thought you all have.
This exchange is going to happen unless we act together in a big way.

The Islamic Paradise of the Needle and Powder
Posted by Daniel Greenfield on Jan 27th, 2012
The world's largest drug field was formerly in the Bekaa Valley where the land is warm and moist. Reflecting the poor state of agriculture in the Muslim world, some of the most arable land in Lebanon where the Romans raised acres of wheat was turned over to cannabis and opium production. In the '90s the situation was so bad that 80 percent of the world's cannabis came out of the valley. The valley helped finance the PLO, Hezbollah and the Syrian army which invaded Lebanon partly to get in on the drug trade.
The Clinton Administration cut deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Syrian occupation of Lebanon to try and cut down on production. Officially production went down, unofficially the party never really stopped.
With the Syrians gone and the PLO living off American foreign aid on the West Bank of Israel, the lucrative Lebanese drug trade is in the hands of the Shiite Islamists of Hezbollah. Drugs have turned the Party of Allah into a global narcoterrorist ring with tentacles in Latin America and ties to Marxist narcoterrorists there and up to America and out across Europe and Asia.

What's the opposite of FREEDOM? Submission -- in other words, ISLAM
Fellow patriots,
In reading through Act! for America's manual on being a Chapter Leader, I discovered a remarkable service on Act!'s website that makes it possible to send emails asking your Representative and Senators to take action on specific legislation designed to protect our country from either Islamic terrorism or Sharia law. These proposed laws range from improving border security to Visa verification to decreasing our dependence on foreign energy to defending those who report suspicious actions from lawsuits. Each of the links below explains its legislation before committing you to endorsing it, so they are also a great way to learn about what's happening in Congress regarding our national security and deciding which issues you want to support.
When you send off your first email, you'll be asked for your name and other information to verify that you're a genuine constituent of the legislator you're addressing, but after that it's all remembered for subsequent petitions (as long as you tell the system that you want it to remember it). After that, you can get through each subsequent item in a matter of seconds. You can literally get through all of them in 5 minutes or less if you want to.
Also, if you're a Facebook user, make sure to "like" these petitions so that your friends will know about them too. It's never been so easy to multiply the effects of your actions.
Enjoy, learn, and make a difference!

LATIN AMERICA: IRAN 'S NEW FRONT AGAINST THE U.S.
By: Joseph Puder
Appearing before The Orthodox Union Presidential Forum in a Boca Raton, FL synagogue on Monday, January 30, 2012, former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) stated that, "When President Ahmadinejad recently toured the capitals of Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Ecuador, it was not a form of cultural diplomacy; it was primarily to increase the tempo of preparations for the war against America." He then added, "It is long past time for us to respond, but instead our president declares imminent victory."
While Ahmadinejad is the visible figurehead representing the Iranian regime, it is Hezbollah, Iran's terrorist sub-contractor, which is creating cells throughout Latin America and, inside the U.S. as well. Shortly after the Second Lebanon war between Israel and Hezbollah, the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee held hearings on the Global Reach of Hezbollah's cells. The Committee heard testimony regarding the capabilities of Hezbollah to attack the U.S. and other western targets. The protocol from the hearing clearly established Hezbollah's "wide reaches" under the military leadership of Imad Mugniyah, who was assassinated in February 2008 in Damascus, Syria.
U.S. Representative Ed Royce, Chairman of the International Terrorism and Nonproliferation Subcommittee, had this to say during the hearings: "Hezbollah isn't just a menace to Israel, Lebanon and the region. According to the State Department terrorism report, Hezbollah has 'established cells in Europe, Africa, South America, North America, and Asia.' "One witness," Rep. Royce continued, "will tell us that Hezbollah's organizational and logistic network exists in over 40 countries; this includes a significant presence in our own hemisphere, in the tri-border region of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. The network operates in West Africa, where Hezbollah has been active trading 'blood diamonds,' an issue the Africa Subcommittee explored when I chaired it.
Rep. Royce added, "Many Americans may be surprised to learn that Hezbollah's global reach includes significant activities on U.S. soil." Royce characterized Hezbollah as posing a "grave threat" and, he repeated a statement made by a former Deputy Secretary of State in 2002 that, "Hezbollah may be the A-team of terrorists and maybe al-Qaeda is actually the B-team." He added, "Hezbollah's lethality is magnified by the support it receives from state sponsors of terrorism, primarily Iran."
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State
on Terrorism Frank Urbanchik testified at the same hearings that the U.S. is particularly concerned over the close ties between Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Iran's terrorist tool - the Hezbollah.
Addressing retirees at The Villages in FL on January 29, 2012, Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich referred to President Obama saying, "He lives in a fantasy world where there are no enemies" and, he characterized the president's perception of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez as "just misguided people with whom he has not yet had coffee." Gingrich went on to say, "We watched him go see Hugo Chavez and we watched him smile and be friendly while Chavez deliberately, cynically and insultingly gave him an anti-American book and Obama didn't have a clue he'd been insulted. You know, Ahmadinejad, the dictator of Iran, says that he wants to wipe out Israel and drive America out of the Middle East. Now, as a historian, I have a pretty good sense of what that means. It means he wants to wipe out Israel, and drive America out of the Middle East. But if I were a left-wing Harvard Law graduate surrounded by really clever left-wing academics, I would know that this is actually a sign that Ahmadinejad probably had a bad childhood..."
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 that "Iran's president lauded his country's newly launched Spanish-language satellite TV channel, saying it would deal a blow to "dominance seekers"- remarks that were an apparent jab at the U.S. and the West."
The launch is Tehran's latest effort to reach out to Iran-friendly governments in Latin America and comes on the heels of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's four-nation tour of the region earlier in January, which included stops in Cuba and visits to Venezuela, Nicaragua and Ecuador.
In 2007, a similar announcement was made by Ahmadinejad about the opening of Iran Air's new Tehran to Caracas link, except that those flights do not accept open bookings, as transport for entrepreneurs or sightseers surely would. No, these planes are most likely carrying bad actors from the likes of Hezbollah, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Guard's Quds Force.
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, who hates the U.S. as much as does Ahmadinejad, is the ideal Iranian ally. Chavez, who has visited Iran seven times, has made deals with the Islamic Republic worth an estimated $20 Billion according to Michael Rowan and Douglas Schoen in their Forbes article of 1/21/09, titled Terror at Hugo Chavez's Hand. Israeli intelligence sources speculate that the weekly flights between Caracas and Tehran are used to transfer uranium from Venezuela to Iran, which is then purified by the Iranians.
Also considered is the possibility that the Tehran-Caracas flights are being used to transport weapons and Pasdaran - Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) officers - to Venezuela in order to strengthen Chavez's grip on Venezuela and transform it into a potential threat to the U.S. by installing long range missiles in Venezuela that can reach the U.S. Such a scenario is reminiscent what resulted in the Cuban Missile crisis of1962, when the Soviet Union supplied Cuba with missiles. The difference is of course that in 1962 President John F. Kennedy challenged the Soviets and the missiles were removed. The Obama administration is yet to challenge Ahmadinejad or Chavez.
According to an article in the German daily, Die Welt, of November 25, 2010, an agreement between Iran and Venezuela was signed during the last visit of President Chavez to Tehran on October19, 2010. The previously undisclosed contract provides for the establishment of a jointly operated military base in Venezuela, and the joint development of ground-to-ground missiles. Venezuela has agreed to allow Iran to establish a military base manned by Iranian missile officers, soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Venezuelan missile officers. In addition, Iran has given permission for the missiles to be used in case of an "emergency". In return, the agreement states that Venezuela can use these facilities for "national needs" - radically increasing the threat to neighbors like Colombia.
The German daily claimed that according to the agreement, Iranian Shahab 3 (range 1300-1500 km), Scud-B (285-330 km) and Scud-C (300, 500 and 700 km) will be deployed in the proposed base. It further stated that Iran also pledged to help Venezuela gain expertise in advanced rocket technology and that intensive training of their officers would be provided.
A few days after the report appeared in Die Welt, Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon held a press conference in his Jerusalem office, and invited Latin American reporters. He stated that, Venezuela has become Iran's forward base in Latin America. Both countries have joined in a pact of mutual interests to form an axis that threatens not only the Middle East but America as well and the U.S. in particular."
At the recently held CNN Florida Republican Presidential debate in Jacksonville, FL, Senator Santorum did not mince words about Obama's Latin America policy when he said, "The policy under President Obama has been abysmal. We had a terrible policy on Honduras. Obama sided with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. He was siding with leftists and Marxists, not standing up for our friends in Columbia." Santorum's warnings are dire and given the evidence he is correct in asserting that "It is long past time for us to respond."

Stu Bykofsky: Anti-Israel BDS: Bigoted Double Standards
February 03, 2012 O NE WEEK after Holocaust Remembrance Day, the carnival of hate known as the National Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Conference arrives at the University of Pennsylvania today, its clown car stocked with lies, half-lies, white lies and bald-faced lies, playing to the ignorant. It gets no sympathy from Penn, which rejects its theme. Penn believes in free speech, as does Israel, the target of the hate fest. Free speech, and most human rights embedded in Western societies, are absent in Arab states. That is the truth, which is poison to BDS, which immorally equates Israel with white-dominated South Africa, and even Nazi Germany. That's what follows when you ally yourself with those who deny the Holocaust. Rooted in propaganda, BDS parallels the delegitimization movement seeking to destroy Israel's status as a state. Not blood-soaked Iran, Syria, North Korea or Somalia. In the alternate universe of BDS (Bigoted Double Standards), Israel is the world's worst nation. BDS hypocritically heaps all blame for Palestinian misery on Israel, never whispering of Arab culpability.

How Many Are Thy Tents, O Jacob?
By Lori Lowenthal Marcus
Given the ideological bedlam often seen even within individual Jewish organizations, just imagine trying to get an entire community of Jewish organizations together to sign a several-paragraphs-long statement reflecting a single position -- and to do that within a matter of weeks.
That miracle almost happened recently, when the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia gathered practically every Jewish organization in the Philadelphia community to send a message of strong disapproval to an anti-Israel coalition known as the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is holding a three-day conference at the University of Pennsylvania on February 3-5. But the "almost" is necessary because one significant local group refused to join in. Understanding who, and why, reveals important lessons that must be taken to heart.
Penn BDS was thrown together by a single undergraduate student with the goal of luring the BDS conference to the University of Pennsylvania campus. BDS is a global, largely unsuccessful but widely publicized menace with the ultimate goal of demonizing, demoralizing, and destroying the state of Israel. BDS proponents claim that their methods constitute a tool to achieve justice for those oppressed by Israel; they take their cue from the effort to overthrow the racist South African government during the 1980s. But BDS is, in fact, merely a thin mask over enmity against any effective haven for the Jewish people.
Last month, when the Penn Hillel leadership learned that the BDS conference was to take place on their campus, the Philadelphia Jewish leadership was alerted, as was the Israeli Consulate. A broad spectrum of at least nominally pro-Israel local organizations was quickly called together with the goal of creating a strong communal response.
Mainstream local groups such as the Jewish Federation, the Anti-Defamation League, and Scholars for Peace in the Middle East -- as well as those on the far left of the spectrum, such as the New Israel Fund and J Street, and those on the right end, such as Z STREET and the Zionist Organization of America -- were included in this call to action. Several decisions were reached: there would be a communal statement of solidarity condemning the BDS conference; there would be an event showcasing communal support for Israel just prior to the conference; and, to counter the campaign of boycotting Israeli goods, there would be a concerted effort to encourage people to purchase Israeli products.

The Third Jihad Big in the News
The New York Times attacked the New York City Police Department's decision to show our critically acclaimed film, The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America, on the front page of its Jan. 26, 2012 edition. The film was shown during training to close to 1,500 of its lieutenants, detectives and patrol officers.
The Third Jihad takes an in-depth look at the process of radicalization and indoctrination of American Muslims taking place on American soil and is a powerful educational tool that has been used by law enforcement across the country. While the NYT made no concrete attempt to deal with the facts presented in the film, the Times story was riddled with inaccuracies that they later made no attempt to correct. The story was picked up by major media outlets across the globe.
Director of The Third Jihad: Times Attack is Cultural Jihad in Action
by Wayne Kopping
"We were not aware that the NYPD was using the film, but when we learned of it some months ago, we were pleased that the officers would have an opportunity to learn about the indoctrination taking place in certain segments of Muslim society in America. "The film exposes how radicals employ the dual strategies of "violent Jihad," along with a 'cultural Jihad,' through which Islamist groups use coercion and non-violent means to gradually expand their influence over Western society.

Why is HAMAS Inside Tampa Schools?
By Clare Lopez

Kelly Miliziano, who teaches history classes at Steinbrenner High School in the Tampa, Florida area apparently thinks it's perfectly OK to invite a senior official of a HAMAS-affiliated organization into her classroom to discuss Islam with her students. According to local media reports, not only has this been going on for years, but in spite of the civil and criminal proceedings that could result from such reckless negligence, the Hillsborough County school superintendent, Mary Ellen Elia, and the chairman of the school board, Candy Olson, also expressed approval for students under their responsibility to be exposed repeatedly to guest speaker, Hassan Shibly, who is the Executive Director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Tampa area. It's takers versus makers and these days the takers are winning
By: Glenn Harlan Reynolds | 02/04/12 Examiner Contributor
"Fifty thousand for what you didn't plant, for what didn't grow. That's modern farming -- reap what you don't sow."
That's a line from a song about farm subsidies, "Farming The Government," by the Nebraska Guitar Militia.
But these days it applies to more and more of the U.S. economy, as Charles Sykes points out in his new book, A Nation Of Moochers: America's Addiction To Getting Something For Nothing.
The problem, Sykes points out, is that you can't run an economy like that. If you tried to hold a series of potluck dinners where a majority brought nothing to the table, but felt entitled to eat their fill, it would probably work out badly. Yet that's essentially what we're doing.
In today's America, government benefits flow to large numbers of people who are encouraged to vote for politicians who'll keep them coming. The benefits are paid for by other people who, being less numerous, can't muster enough votes to put this to a stop.
Over time, this causes the economy to do worse, pushing more people into the moocher class and further strengthening the politicians whose position depends on robbing Peter to pay Paul. Because, as they say, if you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can be pretty sure of getting Paul's vote.

"If systems of government can be introduced less expensive and more productive of general happiness than those which have existed, all attempts to oppose their progress will in the end be fruitless. Reason, like time, will make its own way, and prejudice will fall in a combat with interest. If universal peace, civilisation, and commerce are ever to be the happy lot of man, it cannot be accomplished but by a revolution in the system of governments." ~ Thomas Paine

Obamacare's Contraception Mandate Suppresses Religious Freedom
by Sarah Wells
|
Religious employers should be exempt from having to provide health care coverage for contraception, abortifacients and sterilization out of respect for the religious freedom protected by the First Amendment, Heritage Foundation Vice President David Addington says,
"The Obama Administration should immediately exempt such religious employers from the contraception mandate," he writes on Heritage's blog, The Foundry, "The Administration's trampling upon religious liberty with the contraception mandate illustrates yet again the need to repeal the Obamacare statute."
Under Obamacare, religiously-based institutions are mandated to provide coverage for these services even if their religious beliefs forbid it.
The First Amendment of the Constitution clearly states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
But the Obama administration has glossed over this fundamental freedom and has imposed an obligation upon those institutions wishing to exercise this right.
Do you agree that religious employers should not be compelled to provide coverage for contraception, abortifacients and sterilization? Tell us in the comments on myHeritage.
CBO Budget Estimates Paint a Grim Future
On Tuesday, the Congressional Budget Office released its federal budget outlook through fiscal year 2022. And as one would expect, the news is not good.
Congress has spent recklessly for more than a decade. We have seen three years of high unemployment. Our national debt has increased tremendously on President Obama's watch. In fact, 2012 will be the third straight year with a deficit of more than $1 trillion. Worse, spending on entitlement programs will increase out of control unless Congress acts now to reform them.
When President Obama took the podium last week to address the nation, he offered few concrete ways to fix the dismal state of the nation's finances. The solution is obvious: it starts with getting spending under control. Heritage's Saving the American Dream plan offers ways to do just that.
Heritage experts weigh in. Read the full story on myHeritage.
America's Aging Nuclear Deterrent
With Russia, China, North Korea and Iran actively developing nuclear capabilities, the United States is the only major nuclear power without a substantial modernization program. This threatens America's credibility abroad both with our allies and potential enemies.
The Heritage Foundation's Baker Spring and Michaela Bendikova report: "The United States has not developed a new nuclear warhead for nearly 20 years and all of the warhead designers and engineers with actual test experience will have retired by about 2012." The U.S. nuclear arsenal has been primarily been composed of the "nuclear triad" of heavy bombers, intercontinental-range ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
These vital tools of defense are aging with no foreseeable plans for modernization. New questions about this security guarantee could reduce our credibility not only with our potential enemies but also with our allies. While we fail to expand and modernize our nuclear capabilities, we continue to provide a nuclear security guarantee to more than 30 countries around the world. "An opponent will not be deterred unless he believes that the United States will use its capabilities to protect its own interests and those of its allies," Spring and Bendikova write.

Friday, February 3, 2012 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 277 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS The Gospel According To Saint Obama The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event that attracts over 3,000 people. Every U.S. president in recent decades has attended and spoken, and all of them have shed politics at the door. But not Barack Obama. Yesterday he shamelessly wrapped his left-wing socialist political agenda in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I don't think Obama wears glasses, but he clearly needs a pair. He has looked at Karl Marx and confused him with Jesus Christ. For example, Obama said this:
"And I think to myself, if I'm willing to give something up as somebody who's been extraordinarily blessed, and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that's going to make economic sense. But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus's teaching that 'for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.'"
Notice the sleight of hand. Jesus did teach that we are to help the poor. If Obama had said, "Michelle and I, inspired by the Gospels, have decided to give our wealth to the poor," he could have a Christian argument. But, of course, that is not his public policy position. He is proposing to take other people's wealth under the threat of fines or imprisonment to give it to those he deems needy. One will search in vain for any teaching by Jesus that calls for government to redistribute wealth. Christ's ministry was an appeal to charity from us as individuals. It was not a call for big government. (As you might recall, Christ's interaction with the big government of his time, Rome, did not go well.) Obama said this:
"And when I decide to stand up for foreign aid, or prevent atrocities in places like Uganda, or take on issues like human trafficking, it's not just about strengthening alliances, or promoting democratic values... It's also about the biblical call to care for the least of these -- for the poor; for those at the margins of our society. To answer the responsibility we're given in Proverbs to 'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.'"
This one falls into the category of deception. It is a gross exaggeration to state that the Obama Administration has emphasized human rights or human trafficking. From China to Iran, Obama has dropped human rights as a significant factor in the conduct of America's foreign policy. When Christians are murdered in Egypt, Nigeria, Iraq and elsewhere, his administration's response is tepid and perfunctory. Obama also said:
"And so when I talk about our financial institutions playing by the same rules as folks on Main Street, when I talk about making sure insurance companies aren't discriminating against those who are already sick, or making sure that unscrupulous lenders aren't taking advantage of the most vulnerable among us, I do so because I genuinely believe it will make the economy stronger for everybody. But I also do it because I know that far too many neighbors in our country have been hurt and treated unfairly over the last few years, and I believe in God's command to 'love thy neighbor as thyself.'"
There is no debate in Washington between those who favor unscrupulous lending and those who oppose it. There is no debate between people who want Americans to have health insurance and those who don't want us to have health insurance. The debate is between those of us who think these problems are best solved with free market principles and those who think more government bureaucrats and regulations are the answer. When Obama suggests his big government approach is biblical, he is suggesting that those who oppose him are not faithful Christians. Finally, the president said nothing about the clear biblical teaching on the sanctity of life. But God said, "I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." On the clear biblical teaching that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, Obama said nothing. The Scriptures tell us: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." And while we are instructed, "You shall have no other gods before me," Obama had nothing to say about religious liberty. That's right! On public policy debates that are clearly about moral biblical concepts, Obama was silent because many of his policies are directly counter to the teachings of the Scriptures. He can find Dodd-Frank in the Bible, but he can't find "Choose life"! What Barack Obama delivered at the prayer breakfast was not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was, not surprisingly, the Gospel of Jeremiah Wright, his fanatical, racist, anti-Semitic pastor of over 20 years. God help us if anyone at that breakfast was deceived. Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, I have run into a couple of stalwart, Christian conservatives who thought the speech was fantastic. Please don't let your friends and family members fall for this deception. Share this report with them so that the scales may fall from their eyes. Economic Recovery Or Cover-up? According to the Labor Department, the economy added more than 240,000 jobs in January. That's good news for those 240,000 folks. But it had nothing to do with Obama's policies. I believe that the economy is improving now because Republicans slammed the brakes on the worst of Obama's agenda. Perhaps the most important consequence of the 2010 election was an agreement to prevent a massive tax increase by extending the Bush tax cuts for another two years. You can't argue that a massive healthcare takeover that is not yet fully implemented is responsible for improved growth. It would be ludicrous to suggest that the failed stimulus bill, which did virtually nothing throughout 2009 and 2010, is responsible for improved growth now. And it can't be any of Obama's other policies, because, as he frequently reminds us, "obstructionist" Republicans in Congress keep blocking them. Here's the "dirty little secret" about why the unemployment rate is going down: There are fewer and fewer people in the work force. The labor participation rate fell in January to a 30-year low. As Professor Peter Morici put it, "The unemployment rate would be higher but for the fact that many adults have quit looking for work altogether, and the adult labor force participation rate remains depressed." Exactly. If everybody would just stop looking for work entirely, the unemployment rate would be zero. That is the reality of the Obama economic "recovery" -- fewer Americans are working today. But for now the unemployment rate is down, and no doubt the liberal media will be singing Obama's praises tonight on the evening news. How should Republicans counter that? It is important to make the facts known. But this election can't just be all about the economy. As we are seeing, the economy can be unpredictable. Yet there are a host of reasons why Barack Obama does not deserve a second term. From values issues to his desire to "fundamentally transform" America to foreign policy, America cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama. Justice Ginsburg: Ignore Our Constitution One of the undeniable truths about the left is its desire to "fundamentally transform" America into something it is not. That is what the culture war to redefine our values is all about. That is why the left is eager to abandon free enterprise and embrace socialism. And that is why left-wing judicial activists are so eager to incorporate foreign law into their decisions. In a moment of candor, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, perhaps the Supreme Court's most liberal member, seemingly suggested that she prefers foreign constitutions to our own. During an interview with the Egyptian network Al-Hayat TV, Ginsburg offered her thoughts on how Egypt should go about writing its new constitution. Here is what she said:
"I can't speak about what the Egyptian experience should be, because I'm operating under a rather old constitution. ...I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012. I might look at the constitution of South Africa. ...Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. ...You would almost certainly look at the European Convention on Human Rights. Yes, why not take advantage of what there is elsewhere in the world?"
Take advantage of everything that's out there, just don't look to America. Why is it that so many liberals have such a low opinion of their homeland and feel the need to apologize for the country of their birth? Millions of people all over the world see America as a land of hope and opportunity. They want to come here to become Americans. Yet the left thinks they are confused and is constantly trying to make America like the rest of the world.

A FREE MARKET SOLUTION In her article, Three Cheers for Romneycare, Ann Coulter insists that Romneycare and its mandate was a Free Market Solution. Of course a government mandate to buy a product is not a "free market" solution, it is a slave market solution. Using a government mandate may be a market based solution but there is nothing free about it. The purchaser isn't free not to buy. The seller is only able to move the product through coercion and has to qualify with the government to be able to force-sell the product. It's certainly not free market, and while it can be viewed as a "conservative" solution, it's only a form of conservatism that rejects human freedom and free enterprise. It's a nanny state conservatism, which is exactly the attack that Romney and his supporters have used against Santorum. Coulter's only defense of Romney's nanny state policy is that it's state based, and did not take place at the Federal level. As I pointed out last week, if Romney supported a mandate as a state executive, there is no serious reason to believe that he would oppose one as a Federal executive, except "principle" and Romney does not exactly radiate principle. The mandate allows for a less liberal version of national health care, and it's such a conservative free market solution that the famously conservative free marketer Barry from Chicago ended up adopting it. But the mandate is not conservative or liberal, it's certainly not free market, but it is corporate. What the mandate really is, is Brooks' "free market socialism" that he called on Obama to adopt in his Times column that ran before the State of the Union address. Free market socialism gives the left its program but routes it through corporate owners. Obama has been responsible for numerous variations of this across different industries, most notably in Green Energy. We know the maneuver better as Crony Capitalism. The mandate gives the left national health care and gives health insurance companies mass slavery by forcing every American to buy their product. The left wins, health insurance companies win, everyone else loses.

Congress made eight different attempts to alter our U.S. Constitution concerning the Natural Born Citizenship Clause according to the apocalyptic video documentary done with research by Senior Pastor Carl Gallups proving they knew Barack Obama lacked presidential eligibility prior to the 2008 election! If there was no problem for Obama why would these people do this? There had never been a question of Natural Born Citizenship in our lifetimes! Why fix what wasn't broken?
The youtube video goes on to reveal a secret, closed door meeting was held with eight Supreme Court Justices just prior to the January 2009 Inauguration that sent our other courts an unspoken message to don't go there. Plaintiff attorneys with cases were pending at the time were not allowed into this meeting! Only Justice Samuel Allito declined to attend this secret meeting.
Here, as revealed in the Gallups video, are the eight different attempts to ... Continue Reading:If Obama has no Natural Born Citizenship problem why did Congress try to fix it?

Jimmy Carter, in his book Sources of Strength, 1997, wrote: "Rev. Niebuhr urged Dietrich Bonhoeffer to remain in America for his own safety. Bonhoeffer refused. He felt he had to be among the other Christians persecuted in Germany. So he returned home, and...in resistance to Hitler...preached publicly against Nazism, racism, and anti-Semitism...Bonhoeffer was finally arrested and imprisoned. Born FEBRUARY 4, 1906, he died April 9, 1945, just a few days before the allied armies liberated Germany. He was executed on orders of Heinrich Himmler. He died a disciple and a martyr." Jimmy Carter concluded: "The same Holy Spirit...that gave Bonhoeffer the strength to stand up against Nazi tyranny is available to us today." On February 16, 2002, Dr. James Dobson told the National Religious Broadcasters: "Those of you who feel that the church has no responsibility in the cultural area...What if it were 1943 and you were in Nazi Germany and you knew ... The Poor; The Farmer and The Soldier how America ought to work

An episode of "WKRP In Cincinnati" depicted Venus Flytrap offering to educate a black male bent on destruction. Venus challenges him to spend one evening listening to an explanation of the "Atom". If the concept was beyond him he was free to explore his doom. Venus explains the atom in two minutes.
This analogy underscores the simplicity of Cabinet Level Departments. Let's look at America through the eyes of The Poor, The Farmer, and The Soldier.
Our executive branch has three functions; The Poor, The Farmers and the Soldiers. Enslaving the poor has become a Democratic Party phenomenon honed to an art by liberals. Some Americans cannot imagine life without government "help". Most must earn a living, provide for their family and hope to achieve a modicum of comfort. We live in the greatest country known to mankind yet fight daily to subsist.
"The Poor" are nurtured by the departments of Welfare, Schools, Jobs, ... Continue Reading:The Poor; The Farmer and The Soldier how America ought to work

With poll numbers falling by the month Barack Obama is heading for a landslide defeat

By Kevin "Coach" Collins
Every month there are more signs pointing to a landslide loss for Barack Obama and his Democrat Party. Contrary to the fearful tormented "feelings" of those who despise Obama but are "sure" he will be reelected, he won't be reelected.
The numbers against Obama are piling up. The charges that he is not in fact eligible to be our president are beginning to get traction and could conceivably lead to continued legal problems. Even impeachment for his blatant violation of the Georgia judge's legal order to appear must now be considered.
Obama's "roll" was over the moment the polls closed in 2008.
In Georgia Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss who was forced into a runoff because he failed to get 50% cruised to a 58/42 victory just a month later when Obama's voting children and minorities decided to stay home. As it turned out, this wasn't a blip on ... Continue Reading:With poll numbers falling by the month Barack Obama is heading for a landslide defeat

FEBRUARY 2, 1848, the U.S. Congress ratified the peace treaty which ended the Mexican War. In exchange for 15 million dollars the territories of California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming, were brought into the Union. The treaty stated: "In the Name of Almighty God-the United States and the United Mexican States animated by a sincere desire to put an end to the calamities of the war....have, under the protection of Almighty God, the Author of Peace, arranged, agreed upon, and signed the following Treaty of Peace." The Treaty continued: "If (which is not to be expected, and which God forbid) war should unhappily break out between the two republics, they do now...solemnly pledge themselves to each other and to the world to observe the following rules...All churches, hospitals, schools, colleges, libraries, and other establishments for charitable and beneficent purposes, shall be respected, and all persons connected with ... Obama Justice Department helps ACORN increase the ranks of illegal voters

Not only is Barack Obama's Department of Justice pleased to file suit against states which seek to legally ensure only registered voters who are American citizens will vote in the upcoming election, it is now actively working with ACORN's "Project Vote" to register voters revealed to be quite illegal!
Documents obtained from the Colorado Department of State show ACORN and its Project Vote had pressured the State to make it "easier" for welfare recipients to register to vote in the 2008 and 2010 elections. And after those changes, "...the percentage of invalid voter registration forms from Colorado public assistance agencies was four times the national average." (1)
And not only is the Department of Justice doing everything in its power to make certain illegal voters in November will be many and their votes counted, officials from both the Department and the White House have met with Estelle Rogers, Director of Advocacy ... Occupy Oakland lunatics incite 15 year old to murder his adoptive parents and the media whispers it

They couldn't connect this murder to the TEA party movement so we didn't hearmuch about this story.
A middle aged couple, she a physician's assistant and he a prison psychologist, who had repeatedly argued with their 15 year old adopted son over his refusal to stay away from the violent lunatics of Occupy Oakland, was apparently murdered by the ungrateful punk last weekend.
The cause and effect here is glaring. A foster child exposed to the crazy anarchistic conduct of "adults" at Oakland's Occupy encampment was a perfect receptacle for the hateful bile spewed out by the loathsome thugs he came to idolize. He must have been star struck to learn that "it was okay" to destroy anything and everybody he didn't like by watching our avowed enemies savage Oakland's public buildings including its City Hall.
Seeing these drooling halfwits do physical battle with Oakland's police obviously captured the imagination of this little ... Continue Reading:Occupy Oakland lunatics incite 15 year old to murder his adoptive parents and the media whispers it

Randall Terry in the Democrat Presidential primaries is an easy endorsement to make.
Mr. Terry is a pro-life lion who has decided to take the fight against Barack Hussein Obama right to his front door by entering as many Democrat Presidential primaries as he can. In every state primary Terry can command more attention than the media wants to give us and lay a claim to being eligible for "political rate" air time from which he can slam Obama for is bloodthirsty campaign to murder even born infants to satisfy his far left anti-American supporters at NARAL and NOW.
The activists who are pressing Barack Obama to defend his eligibility to remain president in spite of his father Barack Obama senior's Kenyan birth are not the only front line fighters in the battle. This is why we need to support Randall Terry's crusade to defeat Obama using the win-win issues of partial birth abortion and ... "I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it." --Benjamin Franklin
Government & Politics
'Doing Good to the Poor'

On Tuesday, Mitt Romney was flying high after trouncing the other Republican presidential candidates in the Florida primary. By Wednesday morning, he was making remarks so boneheaded that Barack Obama's campaign staff could rejoice over ready-made campaign ads. The rest of us were wondering, "Did he really just say that?"
The offending comments came during a Wednesday morning interview on CNN. Romney was explaining his campaign's focus by saying, "I'm not concerned about the very poor -- we have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich -- they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling." Guess which part of that was and will be looped repeatedly by the Leftmedia.
That's right, we're going to hear early and often that Romney and his fellow Republicans are "not concerned about the very poor." We know what Romney meant -- the middle class has been hit hardest by the recession, and the poor are not exactly destitute according to the Heritage Foundation -- and his comments are being taken out of context. It's not as if any GOP candidate was going to win the Occupy vote regardless, but this soundbite repetition surely won't help with independents.
Aside from his comments being politically tone-deaf, we have more substantive criticism. As Benjamin Franklin said, "I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it." At best, Romney's comments indicate that he plans to make the poor easy in their poverty by continuing, repairing and possibly extending the government "safety net." This is not in any way conservative, and it further proves that Romney himself is not conservative, or at least as National Review's Jonah Goldberg put it, "he speaks conservatism as a second language."
The conservative position -- the constitutional position -- is that the government has no role in providing a safety net for anyone beyond ensuring that they are safe to pursue their own prosperity under Rule of Law. Not only do redistribution schemes not work, but the Founders withheld the power for government charity because it is antithetical to Liberty.
For a half-century now the so-called "Great Society" has attempted to socially engineer the poor upward at great cost to our nation's fiscal solvency. Despite transferring $14 trillion (not so coincidentally close to the national debt), the poor remain poor. Yet the Left has no exit strategy and no withdrawal date for the War on Poverty. On the contrary, their true intention is to enslave the poor to ensure their vote for the politicians who promise to keep the gravy train running at full steam.
The proper way government can contribute to the effort to drive the poor out of poverty is through truly fair taxation and regulation, which will lead to economic expansion and career opportunities for those who are now merely content with living on food stamps and unemployment checks. When given the chance to make that constitutional case for government, however, Romney did the opposite. In fact, he couldn't even correct his mistake, instead arguing for an automatically increasing minimum wage as if to prove that he does care about the poor. That's a policy that hurts the poor. Romney can choose to make such class-based arguments, but, if he wins the nomination anyway, Obama will beat him at this game on the way back to the White House.
What's the matter with Mitt Romney?

This Week's 'Alpha Jackass' Award
Barack Obama politicized the National Prayer Breakfast by employing the Left's only justification for Christianity -- the furtherance of the entitlement state. He said, "[W]hen I talk about our financial institutions playing by the same rules as folks on Main Street, when I talk about making sure insurance companies aren't discriminating against those who are already sick, or making sure that unscrupulous lenders aren't taking advantage of the most vulnerable among us, I do so because I genuinely believe it will make the economy stronger for everybody. But I also do it because I know that far too many neighbors in our country have been hurt and treated unfairly over the last few years, and I believe in God's command to 'love thy neighbor as thyself.'"
"[W]hen I talk ... I talk ... I do ... I genuinely believe ... I also ... I know ... I believe ..." and on and on and on. Why is it that when Barack Obama speaks the I's always seem to have it?
He further pontificated, "I think to myself, if I'm willing to give something up as somebody who's been extraordinarily blessed, and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that's going to make economic sense. But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus's teaching that 'for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.'"
To be fair, he did add, "Our goals should not be to declare our policies as biblical." No, no, of course not. That might mean fewer donations from Obama's anti-religious base.
More to the point, we can't find a single biblical passage in which government is prescribed as the agent of charity. When Jesus spoke of much being required, he didn't mean tax payments. He meant voluntary individual charity. We don't expect Obama to understand that, though -- not coming out of Jeremiah Wright's "church."
From the 'Non Compos Mentis' File
En route to his distant second place finish in Florida, Newt Gingrich stooped to a bizarre low. A robocall on his behalf told voters, "As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney vetoed a bill paying for kosher food for our seniors in nursing homes -- Holocaust survivors, who for the first time were forced to eat non-kosher, because Romney thought $5 was too much to pay for our grandparents to eat kosher. Where is Mitt Romney's compassion for our seniors? Tuesday you can end Mitt Romney's hypocrisy on religious freedom with a vote for Newt Gingrich. Paid for by Newt 2012."
The campaign later backtracked on the ad, saying it didn't go through "the normal vetting process" and shouldn't have been run. No kidding. The issue in question was a Romney veto on Medicaid subsidies to nursing homes as part of larger budget dealings in Massachusetts. No Jews were forced to eat non-kosher, and for the Gingrich camp to bring Holocaust survivors into it is absurd -- even for him.
News From the Swamp: Tax Games
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is planning a few votes in the coming weeks on taxes, following Barack Obama's class warfare strategy outlined in the State of the Union address. Obama decreed that anyone making over $1 million a year should pay at least 30 percent in federal taxes, and Reid hopes to meet that goal by calling for another vote to raise tax rates on those earners. Senate Democrats are also looking to raise taxes in general for anyone earning more than $250,000 a year. The White House and Democrats in the Senate hope to close the budget gap they created by squeezing the very entrepreneurs who can save our economy.
New & Notable Legislation
House Republicans haven't given up on the Keystone XL pipeline. They attached an amendment to the upcoming American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act that is currently moving through the chamber. The pipeline, a $7 billion project, would create jobs, assert a small amount of energy independence, and further cement America's relations with its steadiest trading partner, Canada. Obama shot it down, however, pandering to his environmentalist supporters. Senate Republicans will introduce a similar bill, and some Democrats support it, but it's not likely to be seriously considered in Reid's chamber. On the House side, Republicans plan to push Keystone again in the coming battle to extend the payroll tax cut.
The House voted 267-159 to repeal a component of ObamaCare called the CLASS Act. CLASS is a long-term care insurance program and we added to ObamaCare as a way to help cook the books -- revenue is already being collected but benefits won't be paid out for another three years. It was a budgetary time bomb designed to go broke after just 10 years. Even Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius shut down the program last fall because it was unworkable. Yet the administration opposes its repeal. Go figure. The repeal's future in the Senate is uncertain, though 12 Democrats tried to remove it from ObamaCare in 2009.
The Senate passed the STOCK (Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge) Act by a 96-3 vote Thursday. This bill is meant to bring an end to the practice of elected officials and their staffs in Congress profiting in business deals related to their legislative duties. Republicans in the House and Senate have pushed this idea in the past, but it wasn't until the president called for it in the State of the Union that Democrats made any attempt to move it forward. Over the last year several stories in the media have reported on the corruption of elected officials who have financially profited from being in Congress. The House is expected to take up the debate soon, but Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) outlined a stronger approach that would also put the executive branch under the same restrictions. The House version is also likely to broaden the definition of profiteering to include compensation beyond just stock market investments.
Hope 'n' Change: Spending All the Change
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a federal spending analysis this week that presents some interesting facts about the current state of fiscal affairs. Granted, the CBO isn't the most reliable source on government expenditures because it can measure only what Congress gives it -- let's not forget how that office found a way to make ObamaCare profitable on paper. Garbage in, garbage out. Just the same, this latest report puts in print from a government source what many of us have known for years about its fiscal state of affairs.
According to the CBO, fiscal 2012, ending Sept. 30, is expected to show a $1.1 trillion deficit. Obama has presided over $1 trillion-plus deficits every year of his presidency. Needless to say, this is unprecedented. Federal spending is up 20 percent over 2008, which, before Obama was elected, carried the largest single-year deficit until Obama -- $458 billion. Obama shattered that spending record again and again, and, according to the CBO, the scope of the damage is worse than previously feared, or, more accurately, ignored.
The federal debt has grown $5 trillion since Obama was elected, currently exceeding $15 trillion in total. Public debt is up 30 percent from what it was in 2008, claiming 72 percent of the economy. The CBO goes on to predict only modest, if any, economic growth this year in the private sector due to the weak job market and the hesitance of investors. The report also notes that revenue taken in by the federal government won't be enough to close the gap because the anemic, maybe even fabricated, recovery is painfully slow. Despite this damning report, Democrats remain undeterred in their plan to propose a number of tax increases targeted at the very segment of the private sector that has the means to invest and create jobs.
At least federal workers will be fine. Another CBO report shows that federal employees are paid higher than their private-sector counterparts -- by about 16 percent with benefits and retirement included. Their cut of federal spending will be about $400 billion over the next 10 years.
The CBO predictably placates the spendthrifts in its report by categorizing the issue as a lack of revenue rather than an overabundance of spending. The report notes that extending the Bush tax rates, the payroll tax cut, and/or even the so-called Medicare doc-fix would jack up deficits because of the large amounts of revenue that would be cut, giving Democrats ammo for their class war. The idea of cutting spending instead of looking for another group to squeeze has not occurred to many on Capitol Hill. Besides, it bears repeating: The Bush tax cuts brought in more revenue to the treasury, not less. Come to think of it, maybe that's an argument against them.
Europeans Continue to Waste Time on Debt Crisis
Following Greece's bankruptcy, and in light of Europe's precarious perch on the brink of economic collapse, the European Union is attempting to show world financial markets that it's at last serious about getting its financial house in order. This week, 25 of the 27 EU governments agreed to a treaty that caps the dangerous duo of debts and deficits. Sans Britain and the Czech Republic, EU leaders asserted that they "are undertaking strong efforts to correct budgetary imbalances on a sustainable basis." That's all well and good except for the fact that in the next breath they claimed that "further efforts are needed to promote growth and employment," and these efforts come in the form of -- what else? -- government initiatives. As The Washington Post reports, "The E.U.'s economic growth declaration was replete with plans to help train young people and ease their entry into the job market, along with pledges to find new ways to get money to small-business owners in a credit-scare economic environment."
If you're having trouble remembering the last time a government program came without a high price tag, you're not alone. The reality is that all the treaties in the world are useless unless accompanied by drastic spending cuts. It's precisely these cuts that the EU (and the U.S. for that matter) is so loath to make. The EU may be talking a good game, but talk is cheap. Unfortunately, debt is not.
Economy
Economy Adds Jobs, But Many Merely Stop Looking
In 2009, Barack Obama predicted that "if I don't have [the economy turned around] in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition." He meant that he would not win re-election if the economy were still struggling. Cue the news today that the economy added 243,000 new jobs in January and headline unemployment
dipped to 8.3 percent. It was the biggest gain in jobs since April. Obviously, this is good news for Obama. The problem is that many of the unemployed have simply quit looking for jobs, which lowers the unemployment rate artificially. Thanks in large part to the minimum wage, unemployment among teenagers is over 23 percent. Among minorities it's nearly 16 percent and for black teens it's an astonishing 39.6 percent. If that's "recovery," we would hate to see a downturn.
Income Redistribution: More on the Dole
So much for Obama's SOTU declaration of "no more bailouts, no more handouts." Food-Stamp President Barack Obama has challenged the Department of Agriculture to increase the number of Americans on food stamps from 46 million to 60 million -- or about one in five Americans -- by waving the prospect of $75,000 grants to non-profit groups who come up with creative and successful ways to sign up a new crop of dependents. In particular, the federal government believes that elderly and Hispanic populations are dramatically "underserved."
Food stamp expansion pales in comparison to our re-election-crazed president's other promises. Obama has pledged to rein in skyrocketing college tuition. He wants to increase overall subsidies to colleges while withholding federal dollars from those that raise tuition. That's like fighting against gravity, though, and, as usual, the devil is in the details. For example, the president is basing his carrot-and-stick approach on the campus-based Perkins Loan program. But Perkins funding is a $3 billion drop in the bucket compared to the $142 billion spent on Stafford Loans and Pell Grants, and colleges will quickly figure out just how much to raise their tuition to make up the difference.
Finally, and most grandly, Obama announced his retread plan to press banks to refinance mortgage loans for homeowners who are "underwater" on their homes, and to create a "homeowner bill of rights." The president's housing program will be only for people who are current on their mortgages and have a good credit score, but the additional mortgage insurance premium added to the loans could actually make the situation worse for some homeowners.
The real key is that Obama can say he's trying to do something, and since he knows these programs have no chance in the GOP-controlled House, they will fit nicely with his narrative of blaming a do-nothing Congress for our nation's problems.
Share your thoughts on Obama's bailouts.
Regulatory Commissars: Creating an Electric-Car Market
Over much of the 20th century, California developed a reputation as a trend-setting state. In the first six decades, these trends included higher education, infrastructure development, recreation, a high quality of life and, of course, Hollywood, but all of those are now twisted shadows of their former selves. Now it's the antics in Sacramento that set trends. This was fine when Ronald Reagan was in charge, but now that the radical left-wing has taken hold, we see the tarnished Golden State sliding into a fiscal abyss. Come March, the state may run out of money as it underestimated this fiscal year's revenue by $2.6 billion while spending $2.6 billion more than anticipated. Surprise!
Even staring down the barrel of crisis, do-gooders continue their special brand of social engineering. The California Air Resources Board voted unanimously last week to set new emissions standards for automobiles, dictating that one of every seven new cars sold in the state by 2025 be an electric or zero-emission vehicle. This would triple the number currently on the road, to 1.4 million. Generally, California's standards set a pattern for the rest of the country -- 10 other states have followed their lead in setting zero-emissions vehicle mandates.
Not surprisingly, automakers were behind the new regulations, as GM, Ford, Chrysler and Nissan all testified in favor of adoption. To figure out why, one need only follow the money, as these vehicles come with lots of federal subsidies. Meanwhile, the state of California is also investing heavily (with federal assistance) in a high-speed rail scheme that was once predicted to cost $33 billion but may cost triple that amount. As always, this sort of pandering to the green goons is going to cost the rest of us a whole lot of green.
Security
Second Amendment: 'Mistakes Were Made'
"Obviously I think if the question is referring to things like Fast and Furious, I think everyone has acknowledged that mistakes, serious mistakes, were made there." So said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano Monday. She added, "The key question [is] to make sure that those mistakes, from my standpoint, are never again repeated." It's appalling that she would characterize the gunrunning at the heart of Fast and Furious as "mistakes." Those guns, now in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, thanks to the aid of the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are responsible for hundreds of murders. One of those murdered, of course, was Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, whose family just filed a $25 million wrongful death claim against the ATF, charging, "ATF's failures were not only negligent but in violation of ATF's own policies and procedures." Hardly just "mistakes."
However, testifying before Congress again this week, Attorney General Eric Holder gave a clue as to what he and Napolitano consider to be mistakes. He told Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, that he would hold accountable not those who ran guns illegally, but those who blew the whistle. From their perspective, the only mistake was blowing the cover of this foolish operation.
At the same time, Fox News reports, "Democrats investigating the failed gun-running probe known as 'Operation Fast and Furious' are laying the blame at the feet of officials in Arizona, saying in a new report that lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have 'obtained no evidence' implicating high-level political appointees in Washington." Once again, Democrats are passing the buck to a favorite whipping boy of late: Arizona.
Who should be held accountable and how?

Department of Military Readiness: Outsized Budget Cuts
It's been known since Day One that Barack Obama and his minions loathe the U.S. military. Now, never letting a crisis go to waste, Obama will use the current budget disaster to gut the military and diminish the ability of the U.S. to project global power when needed. All of this, as history has amply demonstrated, invites danger and war.
Obama plans to cut the nation's military budget by at least a half-trillion dollars over the next decade. Last Thursday the Pentagon revealed those cuts and announced that its 2013 budget will decline in real dollars for the first time since 1998. To offset increases in unconstitutional entitlement spending, Pentagon spending, which is constitutional, will be hit disproportionately. Defense spending accounts for a fifth of federal spending but is targeted for more than half of the budget cuts. Obama's cuts are critical, too, as the Army will drop from 562,000 troops now to 490,000 in 2017, the Marine Corps from its current level of 202,000 to 182,000, and the Navy's already sub-300 ship fleet will lose seven cruisers sooner than planned, and new Virginia-class submarines, amphibious assault ships and smaller attack vessels will be delayed or reduced. All of this while Obama's "strategy" asks the Navy to lead an American "pivot" to the Asia-Pacific region, which covers the entire Pacific Ocean.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who has previously warned against deep spending cuts, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Army General Martin Dempsey, pointed out that when Obama's cuts are implemented, there will be an increased risk that the U.S. military will not be able to do as much as quickly as it can do now. For Obama, that's not a risk. That's exactly his plan.

Last Saturday in St. Louis, more than 100,000 people turned out for a parade to welcome our troops home formally from Iraq. It was the nation's first such parade. About 600 veterans participated in the march, and they marveled at the adulation given to them by a crowd that wasn't always for the war. One onlooker said she was "not in favor of the war in Iraq, but the soldiers who fought did the right thing and we support them."
The idea was so simple, it's a wonder no one else did it. Certainly Americans have tried hard to avoid the mistakes made during the Vietnam era, when returning servicemen were treated with contempt by a war-weary nation. While the Long War hasn't remained popular, those who have served and returned have generally been treated with the respect they deserve for their personal sacrifice for our country.
Craig Schneider and Tom Appelbaum, two St. Louis area residents who never served in the military, hatched the idea in December and used social media and a modest $35,000 budget from donations to pull it off. "Things get accomplished when you have a sense of urgency," said Appelbaum. "Now we're going to take this on the road." As a corollary effort, the Welcome Home Foundation is seeking to raise millions for veterans' organizations.

Climate Change This Week: No Warming Since 1997
New data from the UK Met Office has blown yet another hole in the "confirmed science" of climate change. This data, taken from 30,000 measuring stations, indicates that the planet's temperature has not risen since 1997. But this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, for not only is the planet not warming; it may actually be cooling.
Thinking scientists (a.k.a. "deniers") have long claimed that "climate change" is not a manmade travesty but simply part of nature that includes 11-year solar cycles. We are currently in what is called Cycle 24. In Algore's heyday these scientists were promptly blacklisted by many "scientists" with big voices and big mouths, but more recently people are starting to listen. Now these deniers, including some at NASA, predict that solar Cycle 25, which will begin in 2022, may be the weakest in centuries, and in fact may even rival the "Maunder minimum," the coldest part of the "Little Ice Age."
Of course, the envirofascists aren't going down without a fight. "Forecast the Facts," a campaign constructed from a hodgepodge of leftist groups, is advocating that meteorologists present their forecast with a climate-change slant. The Forecast folks have compiled a list of climate change "deniers" that they would like to figuratively tar and feather. This rather aggressive plan may have something to do with a recent poll showing that more than 60 percent of Americans feel that any change in the climate has natural -- not manmade -- causes.
As always, Al Gore, the father of climate change hysteria, is also doing his part to keep the fire burning. The former VP is planning a trip to Antarctica, where he will "prove" the existence of climate change to "civil and business leaders, activists, and concerned citizens." The mere thought evokes an ironic vision of Gore and his followers shivering in an icy wilderness. After years of his pontificating, that vision is indeed heartwarming.
Faith and Family: Komen Foundation Stops Grants to Planned Parenthood
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the nation's leading charity for breast cancer, had the Left in quite a tizzy this week with the announcement that it would no longer give grants to Planned Parenthood. Komen gave the nation's leading abortion provider about $680,000 in 2011 and $580,000 in 2010. It will stop the grants because Planned Parenthood is under congressional investigation for various ethical lapses, including in some cases not reporting child abuse when a minor comes in for an abortion, and the alleged use of federal money to provide abortions.
Naturally, the Left went into double-barrel assault mode, and Planned Parenthood cashed in on the controversy, raising $400,000 in 24 hours. "We know our opponents put their ideology over women's health and lives," Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards wrote in a fundraising appeal. "What we never expected is that an ally like the Komen Foundation would choose to listen to them." In truth, it is Planned Parenthood and its allies that put ideology above women's lives, particularly given the link between abortion and breast cancer.
Adding yet more pressure, 22 Democrat senators signed a letter demanding that Komen reverse its decision, as if hundreds of millions in federal funding to Planned Parenthood isn't enough. Komen is a private charity, and these childish, bullying Democrats have no business strong-arming a private foundation. As The Wall Street Journal's James Taranto observed, "Planned Parenthood's bitter campaign against Komen -- aided by left-liberal activists and media -- is analogous to a protection racket: Nice charity you've got there. It'd be a shame if anything happened to it. The message to other Planned Parenthood donors is that if they don't play nice and keep coughing up the cash, they'll get the Komen treatment."
Of course, we're pleased to see Komen make this break, as are their donors -- Komen has seen donations go up 100 percent since the decision. We encourage them to stand firm amid the onslaught from "tolerant" leftists, and we hope to see them direct money to more worthy recipients, and we hope and pray that other charities follow suit.
Voice your opinion on Komen's decision.
And Last...
The Super Bowl this coming Sunday will be watched for the same reason as each of its predecessors -- the commercials. And as every year, controversy is already swirling around some of the ads' monkey business. CareerBuilder is set to continue its run of commercials featuring chimpanzees in business attire, but Steven Ross, assistant director of the Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo's Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes, complains that the ads pose a risk to chimpanzees because people will only laugh at them instead of remembering that they're an endangered species. That, in turn, means people won't help save them, and Ross wants the ads pulled. We suggest that he rethink his position. If the ads don't run, that could leave chimpanzees endangered and unemployed.

The Conservative Strategy for Winning the Fight Coming After the Election
by Kurt Schlichter
The GOP Establishment we keep hearing about is real, and it is also doomed.
That will not change whether the Establishment's candidate Mitt Romney wins in November or not. After the election, the battle really starts; what is happening now are just skirmishes in a fight for control of the Republican Party. Not the soul of the party - if it had one, it auctioned it off long ago - but the mechanism of the party. The Grand Old Party matters only as a vehicle to carry our banner forward.
To do that, we need to seize control, and we do that by destroying the Establishment starting next November 7th.
Superficially, it might seem that we - the outsiders, the Tea Party, the conservatives, whatever the label - are outgunned by opponents with their hands on the reins of power, money in amounts we can't hope to match, and pals in the media backing them. But if we understand our strengths, and our opponents' weaknesses, we can not only compete but eventually prevail.
First, let's understand our opponent.
The GOP Establishment is an amorphous entity composed of politicians, media types, consultants, writers, lobbyists, party hacks and donors whose first priority is protecting their positions and privileges. Power, and holding onto it, is more important than ideology. That's where we conservatives differ - we have no formal power or position, so changing the power structure doesn't scare us. We have nothing to lose; the GOP Establishment has everything to lose.
So, how do we beat it?

Table of Contents New:
Updates:
H.R. 3810: [No short title]
Sponsor: Petri (R - WI) Official Title: A bill to amend Title 23, U.S. Code, to modify a provision relating to minimum penalties for repeat offenders for driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence, and for other purposes. Status: 1/23/2012: Introduced in House 1/23/2012: Referred to House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Commentary: This bill would alter the penalty on repeat offenders for driving while intoxicated. First, the bill amends the current statute, which requires "a driver's license suspension for not less than 1 year" for repeat offenders, and clarifies and expands the ban to "all driving privileges for not less than 1 year". Second, rather than offering an option less than 1 year driver's license suspension under the "combination" penalty provision, a "suspension of unlimited driving privileges for 1 year" would become the first option, as opposed to only 45 days, as the current statute states. This bill is similar to S. 1816.
H.R. 3803: District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
Sponsor: Franks (R - AZ) Official Title: A bill to amend title 18, United States Code, to protect pain-capable unborn children in the District of Columbia, and for other purposes. Status: 1/23/2012: Introduced in House 1/23/2012: Referred to House Judiciary Committee 1/23/2012: Referred to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Commentary: The bill would require the physician performing an abortion to determine the age of the fetus. This bill would make it illegal to perform an abortion in the District of Columbia without meeting the requirements outlined in the bill. These include a determination by the physician through questioning of the mother, as well as tests. If the post-fertilization age of the fetus is 20 weeks or more, the abortion would not be legal. There are exceptions for the life of the mother. A violation would be punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment and a fine under Title 18, U.S. Code.
H.R. 3801: Ultralight Aircraft Smuggling Prevention Act of 2012
Sponsor: Giffords (D - AZ) Official Title: A bill to amend the Tariff Act of 1930 to clarify the definition of aircraft and the offenses penalized under the aviation smuggling provisions under that act, and for other purposes. Status: 1/23/2012: Introduced in House 1/23/2012: Referred to House Armed Services Committee 1/23/2012: Referred to House Ways and Means Committee 1/25/2012: House passage by roll call vote under suspension of the rules 1/26/2012: Received in Senate 1/26/2012: Senate passage by unanimous consent 1/30/2012: Sent to President Commentary: This bill would add ultralight aircraft to the definition of "aircraft" for the purposes of the Tariff Act of 1930 as a way to increase the penalties for those using these aircraft to smuggle goods. In addition to this definitional change, which would incorporate more acts into the offense, this bill would add attempt and conspiracy to commit the offense as new offenses, and equally punishable to the completed offense. The mens rea required is merely "intentional." A violation is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine if the smuggled goods are not controlled substances. The penalty increases to a maximum of 20 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine if the smuggled goods are controlled substances. This bill is related to S. 1974.
H.R. 3798: Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012
Sponsor: Schrader (D - OR) Official Title: A bill to provide for a uniform national standard for the housing and treatment of egg-laying hens, and for other purposes. Status: 1/23/2012: Introduced in House 1/23/2012: Referred to House Agriculture Committee Commentary: This bill would create several new criminal offenses based on an amended statutory regime regarding egg-laying hens. This bill amends and adds new terms to the Egg Products Inspection Act, 21 U.S.C. Sec. 1033 et. al. Those terms primarily deal with housing of egg-laying hens. There are a number of hen-housing requirements that range from space in between cages and the proper water system for the hens. All of these alterations to the standards are made into criminal provisions by including a violation of the standard as a prohibited act. A violation would be punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment and a $5,000 fine. There is strict liability for such violations. In addition, a violation that includes the intent to defraud, or distribution or attempted distribution of a known adulterated product is punishable by up to three years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
H.R. 3674: Promoting and Enhancing Cybersecurity and Information Sharing Effectiveness Act of 2011 (PRECISE Act)
Sponsor: Lungren (R - CA) Official Title: A bill to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to make certain improvements in the laws relating to cybersecurity, and for other purposes. Status: 12/15/2011: Introduced in House 12/15/2011: Referred to House Homeland Security Committee 12/15/2011: Referred to House Judiciary Committee 12/15/2011: Referred to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee 12/15/2011: Referred to House Science, Space and Technology Committee 12/15/2011: Referred to House Select Intelligence Committee 2/1/2012: Mark up in the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Security Technologies Commentary: This bill, creating a large government infrastructure to face cybersecurity threats, also establishes a new criminal offense. Part of this comprehensive legislation includes the National Information Sharing Organization, which is charged with connecting government, companies, and individuals (members) in order to share information about cybersecurity threats. Some of the information passed will be confidential. It is unlawful for an individual associated with the organization, including government and member employees, to "knowingly publish, divulge, disclose, or make known in any manner or to any extent not authorized by law, any cyber threat information protected from disclosure by this title" any information that they learned by virtue of their connection to the Sharing Organization. A violation of this would be punishable by up to one year imprisonment and a fine under Title 18, U.S. Code, and will also be removed from their position or employment.
S. 1236: Border Tunnel Prevention Act of 2011
Sponsor: Feinstein (D - CA) Official Title: A bill to reduce the trafficking of drugs and to prevent human smuggling across the southwest border by deterring the construction and use of border tunnels. Status: 6/20/2011: Introduced in Senate 6/20/2011: Referred to Senate Judiciary Committee 12/15/2011: Mark up in the Senate Judiciary Committee 12/15/2011: Ordered to be reported by voice vote 12/15/2011: Placed on Senate calendar 1/30/2012: Senate passage by unanimous consent Commentary: This bill would add more criminal provisions to the federal criminal statute on border tunnels and crossings. Additional offenses for attempt and conspiracy relating to the border tunnel crimes would be added. The penalties for these would also be the same as the completely offenses.

Stunned that Indiana is now a Right to Work state, and seething with anger, Indiana union bosses are threatening to unleash their fury at Sunday's Super Bowl in Indianapolis. The Big Labor hierarchy and their allies are fuming that union bosses will no longer be able to force Indiana workers into dues-paying ranks after the Hoosier State enacted the nation's 23rd Right to Work law on Wednesday. "Why aren't states scrambling to embrace right-to-work laws?" one economic analyst asked this week. "Fear of Big Labor," she answered. Big Labor's intimidation racket is on full display right now in Indiana. "You can tell them we'll take the Super Bowl and shove it," one Teamster union boss threatened. He later told a local TV station that union militants plan to parks trucks to prevent football fans from entering and leaving the stadium -- a despicable threat that if carried out could pose a serious danger to public safety. "This is a life-or-death struggle," one forced-unionism sympathizer absurdly claimed -- in opposition to a bill that simply ensures that no worker can be compelled to join or pay dues to a labor organization as a condition of employment. That's a principle supported by nearly 80 percent of Americans -- including union members themselves. Protest, of course, is a fundamental exercise of First Amendment rights to speech and association. Tea Party activists and other concerned citizens have peacefully rallied to protest Obamacare and other Big Labor-backed expansions of government power. But what union thugs are threatening isn't just another protest. If cooler heads prevail by Sunday, football fans attending the game and the tens of millions of Americans watching at home will surely be relieved. But it's deeply troubling -- and telling -- how quickly union tyrants and their allies will resort to threats and intimidation to protect Big Labor's forced-dues power over American workers. The Giants are taking on the Patriots on Sunday. But there's another battle going on outside the stadium and all over the country, a battle about power versus freedom. No matter who you're rooting for in the game on Sunday, it's clear that the union militants are on the wrong side. Sincerely, Mark Mix P.S. Grassfire Nation Update It is now clear that the BIGGEST LOSERS in the ObamaCare statist healthcare overhaul ARE AMERICA'S SENIORS and those approaching retirement age. Consider these shocking facts:
- According to Obama's own chief actuary in the Department of Health and Human Services, ObamaCare will savage Medicare by cutting $575.1 billion in this decade alone.
- One website says that ObamaCare "will affect all aspects of health care for seniors -- coverage, prices, and access."
- "Medicare Advantage" -- the popular program which gives seniors more choices in healthcare -- is already being decimated by ObamaCare with major insurers dropping the plan altogether and Obama's actuary projecting a 50% reduction in the program by 2017.
- And then there's the reality of HEALTHCARE RATIONING that will be implemented by ObamaCare's "Independent Payment Advisory Board" -- appointed by Obama with the power to make Medicare rationing decisions without Congressional oversight!
Of course, many seniors have been kept in the dark -- even deceived about ObamaCare by the nation's largest membership association of seniors, AARP. From the onset, the AARP aggressively lobbied for passage of ObamaCare. Even as these troubling details emerged, AARP continued its staunch support of Obama's plan... The reason? AARP stands to reap billions in profits by offering gap coverage as a direct result of deep cuts in Medicare! This "Grand Deception" created by Obama and aggressively promoted by the AARP that seniors support ObamaCare is a lie now threatening the health care of every senior and the solvency of our nation. With American seniors now at serious risk due to ObamaCare, and AARP essentially turning their backs on the concerns of seniors, Grassfire Nation is partnering with Conservative 50 Plus to unite conservative citizens in opposition to ObamaCare.
It is vitally important that seniors and those approaching retirement age stand together with one voice against ObamaCare and the AARP's Grand Deception!
To accomplish this goal, Conservative 50 Plus has just launched a National Petition exclusively for seniors who oppose ObamaCare. Click here for more and to sign:
http://www.grassrootsaction.com/901/petition.asp + + Supreme Court Showdown over ObamaCare With Supreme Court oral arguments just weeks away, Conservative 50 Plus wants to deliver at least 100,000 petitions to the Supreme Court and key leaders in Congress before the hearings begin from seniors who oppose ObamaCare
If you are a senior or are approaching retirement age, Conservative 50 Plus needs your help right now. Click here to sign this important petition and have it hand delivered by Conservative 50 Plus to the Supreme Court and key members of Congress prior to the scheduled March hearings:
http://www.grassrootsaction.com/901/petition.asp + + Don't allow your voice to be co-opted The left-leaning and self-serving motives of the AARP do not represent conservative seniors. In fact, while seniors face drastically reduced healthcare choices, higher taxes and the prospects of reduced care, AARP will be taking in BILLIONS! That's why it is imperative for seniors to take a strong, principled stand -- striking a blow for freedom by purging ObamaCare from the American landscape. Join with other conservative-minded seniors who are speaking up and adding their names to Conservative 50 Plus's National petition Opposing ObamaCare by clicking here:
http://www.grassrootsaction.com/901/petition.asp Once you've signed, Grassfire Nation is urging you to forward this message to 25-30 of your friends and family members, encouraging them to join with you by signing this important petition opposing ObamaCare. http://www.grassrootsaction.com/901/petition.asp The time to follow has past. Americans must rise up and lead the charge to restore our nation. Grassfire Nation P.S. Again, Obama and the AARP have hatched a LIE that most seniors support ObamaCare -- and now our healthcare and our nation's future is in peril. After signing our petition, forward this message to 25-30 friends encouraging them to be a part of this national movement of American seniors and those approaching retirement age who are standing against ObamaCare: http://www.grassrootsaction.com/r.asp?U=71676&CID=901&RID=33745764

A Lousy President and a Lousy Theologian
Posted: 04 Feb 2012 07:52 AM PST
(John Hinderaker)
Scott wrote yesterday about President Obama's attempt to enlist Jesus in his campaign for higher taxes: "But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus's teaching that 'for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.'" In drawing this equivalence, Obama implicitly substituted the government for God; in Jesus's teaching it is God, not any earthly ruler, who gives us much and expects much from us in return.
Obama drew his quote from Luke 12, one of the most extraordinary books in the Bible. It wouldn't be a bad idea to forget about current events for a while and read it. Luke 12 contains some of Jesus's most beautiful and powerful words ("Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.") as well as some of his most problematic ("Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division."). Luke 12 also includes this implicit rebuke to Obama: "Take heed and beware of covetousness...."
Read More . . . Obamacare against the Church Posted: 04 Feb 2012 07:35 AM PST (Scott Johnson) We've been following the story of the Church's response to the assault perpetrated by the Obamacare regulation on "preventive care" with a religious exemption so narrow that will require most Catholic institutions to comply. In the new issue of the Weekly Standard Jonathan Last provides an excellent journalistic account of events leading up to the regulations. As soon as Sebelius released th[e] decision [regarding the scope of the regulation], the Catholic church panicked. The Conference of Catholic Bishops reached out to the administration to explain the position in which it had put them. But the tone of their concern was largely friendly: Most Catholic leaders were convinced that the entire thing was a misunderstanding and that the policy - which was labeled an "interim" measure-would eventually be amended. Read More . . . The Church of Government Posted: 03 Feb 2012 07:56 PM PST (John Hinderaker) Liberals tell us that the most important principle is the separation of church and state. That applies, of course, only until liberals want to enlist the church in support of the state. The state, in their view, is the real church. So Michael Ramirez envisions our president as the Pope of the Church of Obama, who destroys all lesser faiths. Like Christianity, for example:
Is liberalism the only acceptable faith? Well, yes, that is what most Democrats believe. Was Today's Jobs News Good? Posted: 03 Feb 2012 06:48 PM PST (John Hinderaker) The administration trumpets the fact that nonfarm payrolls increased by 243,000 in January, dropping the unemployment rate to 8.3%, only .5% higher than when Barack Obama took office. This is what counts as good news in the beleaguered West Wing! But how good was today's news, really? What is mainly going on is that fewer Americans have any intention of working; therefore, they cannot be unemployed. That is the Orwellian logic that underlies "good news" in the Age of Obama. The key fact is that labor force participation has reached a 30-year low of only 63.7%. More and more Americans are giving up on gainful work and resigning themselves to lives of dependence on government. Barack Obama thinks that is a good thing. Do you?
Here is another very basic fact: notwithstanding the employment gains in January, there are fewer Americans working today than there were when George W. Bush took office in January 2001, and more than one million fewer Americans are working than when Barack Obama was inaugurated! What an appalling record! If Obama had campaigned in 2008 on the promise that, if he were elected, a million more Americans would be unable to find work, would you have voted for him? Would anyone have voted for him?
The Obama administration has been a disaster, and the reason is no mystery. Obama and his advisers do not understand how wealth and jobs are created. They have little or no experience in the private sector, they do not understand economics, and they think that parasitism is a viable strategy. So is it any wonder that when their policies are implemented, a million or more Americans are unemployed? Budget? Who Needs A Budget? Posted: 03 Feb 2012 06:31 PM PST (John Hinderaker) Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress have set a new standard of irresponsibility: for the third year in a row, Harry Reid announced that he would not allow a vote on a FY 2013 budget to come to the floor of the Senate. "We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year," Reid told a conference call with reporters. This year? How about last year, or the year before? The Obama administration has become a budget-free zone, in flagrant violation of federal law, which prescribes a process for developing a federal budget which the Democrats have simply flouted. Has our nation ever seen such fecklessness? $15 trillion in debt, the credit of the United States being downgraded, hundreds of thousands leaving the labor force, and the Democrats don't think our government should have a budget? Or a plan to dig our way out of a $15 trillion hole? How out of touch can the Democrats be? Read More . . .
